  • Alcoholic liver disease (ALD) remains an important health problem worldwide. Perturbation of micronutrients has been broadly reported to be a common characteristic in patients with ALD, given the fact that micronutrients often act as composition or coenzymes of many biochemical enzymes responsible for the inflammatory response, oxidative stress, and cell proliferation. Mapping the metabolic pattern and the function of these micronutrients is a prerequisite before targeted intervention can be delivered in clinical practice. Materials and Methods  Several research groups have generated whole genome sequencing data which are available in the public repositories. A total of 1,604 spike proteins were extracted from 1,325 complete genome and 279 partial spike coding sequences of SARS-CoV-2 available in NCBI till May 1, 2020 and subjected to multiple sequence alignment to find the mutations corresponding to the reported single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the genomic study. Further, the antigenicity of the predicted mutations inferred, and the epitopes were superimposed on the structure of the spike protein. Results  The sequence analysis resulted in high SNPs frequency. The significant variations in the predicted epitopes showing high antigenicity were A348V, V367F and A419S in receptor binding domain (RBD). Other mutations observed within RBD exhibiting low antigenicity were T323I, A344S, R408I, G476S, V483A, H519Q, A520S, A522S and K529E. The RBD T323I, A344S, V367F, A419S, A522S and K529E are novel mutations reported first time in this study. Moreover, A930V and D936Y mutations were observed in the heptad repeat domain and one mutation D1168H was noted in heptad repeat domain 2. Thus, socio-demographic and anthropometric data were collected using a structured questionnaire. Poly-unsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), saturated fatty acids (SFAs), and monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs) levels were assessed from blood samples collected after the women gave birth. The participants generally consumed diets low in omega-3 and omega-6 PUFAs and high in SFAs and MUFAs. Among them, 51% had university degrees, only 20.4% were employed, and 50% had pre-pregnancy overweight/obesity. Women with overweight/obesity had a higher omega-6 to omega-3 PUFA ratio than women with normal weight. Overweight, obesity, and excessive GWG were not associated with higher levels of total n-3 PUFAs, docosahexaenoic acid, and α-linolenic acid but were associated with higher levels of total n-6 PUFAs and linoleic acid. Women with obesity had significantly higher SFA and MUFA levels than women with normal weight, whereas women with excessive GWG were twice as likely to have higher SFA levels than women with adequate GWG.     Bleeding and transfusions following cardiac surgery significantly increase the rate of complications. Early diagnosis of "surgical" and "coagulopathic" bleeding is a prerequisite for effective treatment.     Based on data from 1011 cardiac surgical patients (control group), we developed a statistical algorithm to distinguish between "coagulopathic" and "surgical" bleeding. We used viscoelastic coagulation test and risk stratification. In 112 consecutive patients (study group), we examined the reoperations, and the impact of the protocol on the rates of transfusions and treatment costs.

    There was no difference in the rate of reoperations between the two groups (6.2% vs. 5.4%; p = 0.584). No coagulopathic bleeding occurred in the study group, compared to 12.7% in the control group. In the study group, we experienced reduction in bleeding (p = 0.026), an increased application of fibrinogen (p<0.001), prothrombin complex concentrate (p<0.001), and tranexamic acid (p<0.001). Red blood cell transfusions decreased by 30% (1.7±2.6 E vs. 2.3 ± 3.3 E; p = 0.012). No difference was found in the amounts of fresh frozen plasma or platelet transfusions used. Calculated cost savings were HUF -20,333 per patient.

    Early international observations report decreased number of acute ischemic stroke admissions and prolonged onset-to-treatment times during COVID-19 pandemic.

    Our goal was to assess the effect of COVID-19 pandemic on Hungarian acute ischemic stroke care.

    We compared demographical and clinical characteristics, rate of intravenous and endovascular therapies and therapeutic time parameters of acute ischemic strokes admitted to a university stroke centre in a COVID-epidemic period (01/03/2020-30/04/2020) and an identical period of 2019.

    86 patients were admitted during the COVID-period and 97 in the control period. Demographical and clinical characteristics of these periods were well-balanced. In the COVID-period, the proportion of patients arriving beyond 24 hours after onset increased by 13% (p = 0.046), the rate of endovascular interventions remained unchanged (8%), the rate of intravenous thrombolysis decreased from 26% to 16%, the mean onset-to-treatment time of thrombolysis increased by 20 minutes, wWhile the rate of endovascular interventions remained unchanged, the absolute rate of intravenous thrombolysis decreased by 10% and the mean onset-to-treatment time showed a tendency to increase. The Cepheid Xpert Xpress SARS-Cov-2 Assay was used as gold standard.

    Concordance between the ARIES assay and the Cepheid assay was 100% for strongly positive samples and for negative samples, respectively. For weakly positive samples as confirmed applying the Cepheid assay, a relevant minority of 4 out of 15 samples (26.7%) went undetected by the ARIES assay. Intra- and inter-assay precision were satisfactory, while the lod was in the 103 DNA copies/reaction-range, in the 103 virus copies/reaction-range, or in the 103-104 free RNA copies/reaction-range in our hands.

  • Macrominerals in fresh wool did not respond to increased dietary supplementation. Se and Zn content of wool had a strong relationship with the daily intake (R2 = 0.95 and R2 = 0.97, respectively.) In conclusion, the mineral content of long fleeces can be different compared to recently developed wool fiber. This indicates that, in some cases, analyzing long staples for mineral status can be misleading. Our results showed that wool could be a sensitive indicator of low selenium and high zinc intake. Mineral interactions can significantly affect the actual availability of trace minerals; therefore, a more careful design of premixes is needed. The described method seems to be applicable in livestock farming, but the mineral interactions that may alter the results need to be further explored.A novel electroporation system was developed to introduce transient membrane pores to cells in a spatially and temporally controlled manner, allowing us to achieve fast electrotransfection and live cell staining as well as to systematically interrogate the dynamics of the cell membrane. Specifically, using this platform, we showed that both reversible and irreversible electroporation could be induced in the cell population, with nano-sized membrane pores in the former case being able to self-reseal in ~10 min. To understand the effects and regulatory mechanism of seed priming with brassinosteroid (BR) on peanut plants, we treated seeds with five BR concentrations and examined dozens of physiological and biochemical features, and transcriptomic changes in leaves under well-watered and drought conditions. We found optimal 0.15 ppm BR priming could reduce inhibitions from drought and increase the yield of peanut, and priming effects are dependent on stage of plant development and duration of drought. We found a histological spectrum of mucinous tumors encompassing a mucinous borderline tumor, microinvasive carcinoma, and overt carcinoma with an expansile invasive pattern. The mural nodules had two morphological components. The sarcomatous component consisted of diffusely proliferating pleomorphic spindle or polygonal cells, while the carcinomatous component exhibited infiltrative glands showing a complex and cribriform architecture as well as distorted and poorly formed small glands. The carcinomatous component, comprising approximately 20% of the entire tumor volume of the mural nodules, was randomly distributed within the sarcomatous component. In a few areas, the carcie of mural nodules and determining their nature, to be later utilized to predict patients' outcomes and provide appropriate treatment.
    Macrominerals in fresh wool did not respond to increased dietary supplementation. Se and Zn content of wool had a strong relationship with the daily intake (R2 = 0.95 and R2 = 0.97, respectively.) In conclusion, the mineral content of long fleeces can be different compared to recently developed wool fiber. This indicates that, in some cases, analyzing long staples for mineral status can be misleading. Our results showed that wool could be a sensitive indicator of low selenium and high zinc intake. Mineral interactions can significantly affect the actual availability of trace minerals; therefore, a more careful design of premixes is needed. The described method seems to be applicable in livestock farming, but the mineral interactions that may alter the results need to be further explored.A novel electroporation system was developed to introduce transient membrane pores to cells in a spatially and temporally controlled manner, allowing us to achieve fast electrotransfection and live cell staining as well as to systematically interrogate the dynamics of the cell membrane. We have identified nine quantitative trail loci (QTL) for different salt tolerance sub-traits in a recombinant inbred line (RIL) population, derived from the bi-parental cross of Excalibur × Kukri. This population was screened for salinity tolerance subtraits using a combination of both destructive and non-destructive phenotyping. Genotyping by sequencing (GBS) was used to construct a high-density genetic linkage map, consisting of 3236 markers, and utilised for mapping QTL. Of the nine mapped QTL, six were detected under salt stress, including QTL for maintenance of shoot growth under salinity (QG(1-5).asl-5A, QG(1-5).asl-7B) sodium accumulation (QNa.asl-2A), chloride accumulation (QCl.asl-2A, QCl.asl-3A) and potassiumsodium ratio (QKNa.asl-2DS2). Potential candidate genes within these QTL intervals were shortlisted using bioinformatics tools.      = 389) and guestbook posts (
     = 2,466) to identify types of support (emotional, esteem, informational, network, tangible, and no support requested/offered). Matches between requests and offers were examined.

    Cancer caregivers requested different types of support from their guests, most commonly emotional support. However, in most posts, caregivers did not request any support (
     = 238, 61.18%). Guests offered all support types, but predominately offered emotional support (
     = 2,353, 95%). When support was requested, 66.67% of requests received a matched offer within 24 hours.

Using a content analysis of Facebook profiles, there is a reflection on how dialogic principles are applied in the management of Facebook by hospitals in Portugal. Special attention will be paid to communication regarding the Zika virus, which was of public interest at the time the empirical analysis was carried out. The study demonstrates that Portuguese hospitals are present on Facebook but do not use the social network dialogically or to communicate about topical themes of public interest.Indoor concentrations of black carbon (**) were measured when wood was burned for traditional cultural activities in a study in a Cree community located in subarctic Canada. The study also included an intervention using a propane-fuelled heater to mitigate in situ **.     The purpose of this study was to examine the attributes and verify the definition of the partnership concept using the hybrid model.

    A hybrid model was used to develop the concept of partnership. The hybrid model consists of three phases theoretical, fieldwork and final analytical. In the theoretical phase, a working definition of partnership was developed by an extensive review with 35 studies. The fieldwork phase comprised seven focused-group interviews with 35 participants consisted of 25 facility staff and 10 family caregivers in long-term care facilities. The final analytical phase compared and interpreted the findings from the first and second phases in order to clarify the concept of partnership.

    The concept of partnership was found to have two dimensions interpersonal and environmental dimensions. The seven attributes emerged from this study. They included relationship, information sharing, shared decision-making, professional competence, negotiation, involvement in care, shared responsibility.

    The partnership between family and staff in long-term care facilities was defined as an ongoing and dynamic process associated with interpersonal and environmental factors.

  • Carcinomas of the breast with neuroendocrine features are rare primary neoplasms positive for neuroendocrine markers. According to the WHO classification of tumours of the breast they are divided into three morphologically distinct categories. They comprise neuroendocrine tumour (NET), neuroendocrine carcinoma (NEC) and carcinoma with neuroendocrine differentiation (NED). The purpose of this study was to investigate for the first time the full spectrum of sstr expression status in breast carcinomas with neuroendocrine features. Fifteen primary breast carcinomas with histological and immunohistochemical neuroendocrine features were studied. Four of them were classified as NETs and two as NECs, and the remaining 9 as carcinomas with NED. All six types of somatostatin receptor (sstr) types (sstr1, sstr 2A, sstr2B, sstr3, sstr4 and sstr5) were investigated by immunohistochemistry. To assess the distribution and intensity of membranous receptor immunoreactivity, a four-scale scoring system was used. Overall predominant receptors were sstr2A, sstr2B, sstr3 and sstr5 showing the highest membranous staining scores 3+ and 2 + . The sstr1 was not detected. Given that carcinomas with neuroendocrine features represent distinct entities, patients with such tumours may benefit from sstr targeting therapies. Immunohistochemistry for sstrs can predict the effectiveness of administration of SST analogues to those patients, thus contributing to achieve the maximum therapeutic outcome, particularly in NETs and NECs with scores 2+ and 3 + .The histone H3 K27M mutation has been frequently reported in the majority of diffuse midline gliomas, which is considered as a prognostic and predictive biomarker. A number of different methods and platforms including pyrosequencing (PSQ), sanger sequencing, immunohistochemistry (IHC), Mass array and NGS (Next Generation Sequencing) have been used to detect H3K27M mutation in diffuse midline gliomas. However, controversy remains about the most appropriate method to use for analyzing H3K27M status. The H3K27 M mutation status of a total of 50 diffuse midline gliomas was examined using PSQ, sanger sequencing, IHC and Mass array in parallel. Using PSQ as a recommended standard method, the sensitivity, specificity and correlation with the other assays were calculated. Among 50 diffuse midline glioma cases, the H3K27M mutation was positive in 64 %, 66 %, 62 % and 62 % of the cases by PSQ, IHC, sanger sequencing and mass array, respectively. The sensitivity and specificity of IHC were 100 % and 94.4 %, respectively. The sensitivity and specificity of sanger sequencing and mass array were both 96.9 % and 100 %, respectively. This study demonstrated that IHC is an effective and rapid detection method for routine use in pathology laboratories for the identification of H3K27M mutation. A combination of IHC and sanger sequencing assays can provide 100 % sensitivity and specificity for the prediction of H3K27M status.Methylation, as an epigenetic modification, can affect gene expression and play a role in the occurrence and development of cancer. This research is devoted to discover methylated-differentially expressed genes (MDEGs) in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) and explore special associated pathways. We downloaded GSE51287 methylation profiles and GSE26886 expression profiles from GEO DataSets, and performed a comprehensive bioinformatics analysis. Totally, 19 hypermethylated, lowly expressed genes (Hyper-LGs) were identified, and involved in regulation of cell proliferation, phosphorus metabolic process and protein kinase activity. Meanwhile, 17 hypomethylated, highly expressed genes (Hypo-HGs) were participated in collagen catabolic process, metallopeptidase and cytokine activity. Pathway analysis determined that Hyper-LGs were enriched in arachidonic acid metabolism pathway, while Hypo-HGs were primarily associated with the cytokine-cytokine receptor interaction pathway. IL 6, MMP3, MMP9, SPP1 were identified as hub genes based on the PPI network that combined 7 ranked methods included in cytoHubba, and verification was performed in human tissues. Our integrated analysis identified many novel genetic lesions in ESCC and provides a crucial molecular foundation to improve our understanding of ESCC. Hub genes, including IL 6, MMP3, MMP9 and SPP1, could be considered for use as aberrant methylation-based biomarkers to facilitate the accurate diagnosis and therapy of ESCC.
    Neuroendocrine carcinomas (NECs) arise from neuroendocrine cells present throughout the body, and often present with metastases even with small and undetectable primary tumors. Additionally, neuroendocrine differentiation can be seen in carcinomas of non-neuroendocrine origin further complicating the landscape of metastatic NECs. Organ specific immunohistochemical markers such as TTF1, CDX2 and PAX8 are often lost in high grade tumors and may be non-contributory in localizing the primary site. Though NECs share a common cellular origin, they exhibit great variability in biologic behavior, prognosis and treatment based on the primary organ of origin.

    Twenty one cases of metastatic NECs were retrieved from our archives and were classified based on location of the primary tumor derived from clinical and radiological findings. Next generation sequencing data was retrieved and analyzed for recurrent genetic abnormalities in these cases. Statistical analysis was performed using IBM SPSS25 software.

After overexpressing SFTA1P, NSCLC cell proliferation, cycle, and apoptosis were detected. We found that the expression of SFTA1P was significantly downregulated in NSCLC tissues with high diagnostic value (AUC = 0.87), which was consistent with the results of TCGA and microarray data. For the analysis of clinical features, the results revealed that SFTA1P expression was closely related to the pathological type (P  less then  0.01).     Carcinomas of the breast with neuroendocrine features are rare primary neoplasms positive for neuroendocrine markers. According to the WHO classification of tumours of the breast they are divided into three morphologically distinct categories. They comprise neuroendocrine tumour (NET), neuroendocrine carcinoma (NEC) and carcinoma with neuroendocrine differentiation (NED). The purpose of this study was to investigate for the first time the full spectrum of sstr expression status in breast carcinomas with neuroendocrine features. Fifteen primary breast carcinomas with histological and immunohistochemical neuroendocrine features were studied. Four of them were classified as NETs and two as NECs, and the remaining 9 as carcinomas with NED. All six types of somatostatin receptor (sstr) types (sstr1, sstr 2A, sstr2B, sstr3, sstr4 and sstr5) were investigated by immunohistochemistry. To assess the distribution and intensity of membranous receptor immunoreactivity, a four-scale scoring system was used. Totally, 19 hypermethylated, lowly expressed genes (Hyper-LGs) were identified, and involved in regulation of cell proliferation, phosphorus metabolic process and protein kinase activity. Meanwhile, 17 hypomethylated, highly expressed genes (Hypo-HGs) were participated in collagen catabolic process, metallopeptidase and cytokine activity.     We reviewed clinical and neuroimaging data of 62 patients with melanoma, including 26 patients with BRAF-mutant tumours, with newly diagnosed brain metastases treated with ICI alone (n=10, group 1), SRT alone or in combination with other systemic therapies (n=20, group 2) or ICI plus SRT (n=32, group 3). Response was assessed retrospectively using response evaluation criteria in solid tumours (RECIST) V.1.1, response assessment in neuro-oncology (RANO) and immunotherapy RANO (iRANO) criteria. MRI follow-up from 43 patients was available for central review.

    Patients treated with ICI alone showed no objective responses and had worse outcome than patients treated with SRT without or with ICI. RECIST, RANO and iRANO criteria were concordant for complete response (CR) and partial response (PR).     To assess the effectiveness, safety, and drug survival of subcutaneous (SC) abatacept (ABA) in a cohort of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients in a real-world setting.

    This was a retrospective cohort study from 2014 to 2018 in which patients with RA (1987 ACR criteria) were included. Patients were evaluated at a single rheumatology outpatient center in Bogotá, Colombia. The patients were classified according to their treatment background biological-naïve (n = 65), switched from IV to SC ABA administration (125 mg-wk) (n = 32), and inadequate response to biological DMARD (n = 62). The primary endpoint was a change in DAS28-CRP and RAPID3 from baseline to 12 months. A linear mixed effect model was used to correlate repeated measures. Adverse events were assessed and recorded during each visit to the rheumatology center.   • Based on these findings, we caution policy makers not to make their decisions solely based on the guidance of the basic reproduction number only, which clearly could cause trouble.The proposed work utilizes support vector regression model to predict the number of total number of deaths, recovered cases, cumulative number of confirmed cases and number of daily cases. The data is collected for the time period of 1st March,2020 to 30th April,2020 (61 Days). The total number of cases as on 30th April is found to be 35043 confirmed cases with 1147 total deaths and 8889 recovered patients. The model has been developed in Python 3.6.3 to obtain the predicted values of aforementioned cases till 30th June,2020. The proposed methodology is based on prediction of values using support vector regression model with Radial Basis Function as the kernel and 10% confidence interval for the curve fitting. The data has been split into train and test set with test size 40% and training 60%. The model performance parameters are calculated as mean square error, root mean square error, regression score and percentage accuracy. The model has above 97% accuracy in predicting deaths, recovered, cumulative number of confirmed cases and 87% accuracy in predicting daily new cases. The results suggest a Gaussian decrease of the number of cases and could take another 3 to 4 months to come down the minimum level with no new cases being reported. The method is very efficient and has higher accuracy than linear or polynomial regression.Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is a novel coronavirus that emerged in Wuhan, China in December 2019. However, the effect of each of these measures remains hard to quantify. We design a multi-scale model that simulates the transmission dynamics of COVID-19. We describe the motion of individual agents using a social force model. Each agent can be either susceptible, infected, quarantined, immunized or deceased. The model considers both mechanisms of direct and indirect transmission. Proposed model is novel since it additionally includes parameters i.e. silent carriers, sociability of newly infected person and unregistered died coronavirus infected people along with the infection rate, suspected rate and death rate. These parameters contribute a lot to figure out the more clear model, along with essential parameters. The model takes the testing rate of suspected people into consideration and this rate varies with respect to phase of the epidemic growth. Proposed 3P-SIRD model is divided into three-phases based on the awareness and sustainability of disease. Time is divided into different periods as rate of infection and recovery fluctuates region to region. The model is tested on China data and is efficient enough to propose a model very close to their actual figures of infected people, recovered people, died and active cases. The model predicts the optimal lockdown period as 73 days for China which is very close to their actual lockdown period (77 days). Further, the model is implemented to predict the optimal lockdown period of India and Italy.This work aims to model, simulate and provide insights into the dynamics and control of COVID-19 infection rates. Using an established epidemiological model augmented with a time-varying disease transmission rate allows daily model calibration using COVID-19 case data from countries around the world. This hybrid model provides predictive forecasts of the cumulative number of infected cases. It also reveals the dynamics associated with disease suppression, demonstrating the time to reduce the effective, time-dependent, reproduction number. Model simulations provide insights into the outcomes of disease suppression measures and the predicted duration of the pandemic. Visualisation of reported data provides up-to-date condition monitoring, while daily model calibration allows for a continued and updated forecast of the current state of the pandemic.The political upheaval and the civil war in Libya had a painful toll on the operational reliability of the electric energy supply system. With frequent power cuts and crumbling infrastructure, mainly due to the damage inflicted upon several power plants and grid assets as well as the lack of maintenance, many Libyans are left without electricity for several hours a day. As the country has a staggeringly immense potential of solar energy, it is inevitable to exploit such potential, to avert system-wide blackouts. This paper investigates the use of small-scale PV systems in local communities as non-wires alternative (NWA), offering excess energy exchange within local/neighboring microgrids (MGs) for reliable electric power supply. Different combinations of PV/storage/diesel distributed generations (DGs), with grid-interface options, were applied on a case study of a typical dwelling in the Eastern Libyan city of Benghazi. Technical and financial feasibility assessments were carried out to contrast between various supply combinations.

  • The aim of this work was the synthesis and physicochemical characterization of the ammonium glycyrrhizinate-loaded ultradeformable liposomes, the evaluation of drug release and permeation through stratum corneum and epidermis barrier. The in vivo anti-inflammatory effect of ammonium glycyrrhizinate-loaded ultradeformable liposomes was tested on human healthy volunteers. The results demonstrated that the ammonium glycyrrhizinate-loaded ultradeformable liposomes decreased the skin inflammation on the human volunteers and the resulting nanoformulations can be used as a potential topical drug delivery system for anti-inflammatory therapy. ☆Parts of these results were presented as a poster communication at the Recent Developments in Pharmaceutical Analysis 2019 (RDPA 2019), Chieti, Italy.Control of protein synthesis (mRNA translation) is essential for proper brain development and function. Perturbations to the mechanisms governing mRNA translation have repeatedly been shown to constitute a neurodegenerative, neuropsychiatric, and neurodevelopmental disorder risk factor. Developing effective therapeutics for brain disorders will require a better understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying the control of protein synthesis in brain function. Studies using transgenic animal models have been invaluable towards this end, providing exciting new insights into the genetic basis of brain disorders with hopeful prospects for new and effective treatment options.The discovery and characterization of a network of highly conserved neuronal microexons has provided fundamental new insight into mechanisms underlying nervous system development and function, as well as an important basis for pathway convergence in autism spectrum disorder. In the past few years, considerable progress has been made in comprehensively determining the repertoires of factors that control neuronal microexons. These results have illuminated molecular mechanisms that activate the splicing of microexons, including those that control gene expression programs critical for neurogenesis, as well as synaptic protein translation and neuronal activity. Remarkably, individual disruption of specific microexons in these pathways results in autism-like phenotypes and cognitive impairment in ****. This review discusses these findings and their implications for delivering new therapeutic strategies for neurological disorders.Background Brain metastases can be effectively treated with stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS). Immune checkpoint inhibitors are now pivotal in metastatic melanoma care, but some concerns have emerged regarding the safety of their combination with radiation therapy. Methods We present a retrospective analysis of a cohort of patients treated by anti-PD1 and SRS as a sole modality of radiation therapy (no whole brain radiation therapy at any time) in a single institution. We included patients on anti-PD1 at the time of SRS or patients who started anti-PD1 within a maximum period of 3 months following SRS and were treated at least one year before the analysis. Clinical and serial imaging data were reviewed to determine the efficacy and the rate of adverse radiation effectss of the combination. Results A total of 50 patients were included. SRS targeted 1, 2 to 3 and >3 brain metastases in 17, 16 and 17 patients, respectively. Two patients died before the first evaluation. Nine patients presented with an increase in peritumoral oedema, three with intracranial haemorrhage and one patient with both oedema and haemorrhage. At present, the library contains the electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry (ESI-MS/MS) spectra of 2739 plant metabolites that are commercially available. The contents of the library were made comprehensive by incorporating data generated under various experimental conditions for compounds with diverse molecular structures. The structural diversity of the BMDMS-NP data was evaluated using molecular fingerprints, and it was sufficiently exhaustive enough to represent the structures of the natural products commercially available. The MS/MS spectra of each metabolite were obtained with different types/brands of ion traps (tandem-in-time) or combinations of mass analyzers (tandem-in-space) at multiple collision energies. All spectra were measured repeatedly in each environment because variations can occur in spectra, even under the same conditions.

Their structures with absolute configurations were determined by extensive spectroscopic analysis including one-dimensional [1D] and two-dimensional [2D] nuclear magnetic resonance [NMR], high-resolution electrospray ionization mass spectroscopy [HR-ESI-MS] analysis, and chemical methods. Erythrosides A-G featured a diverse oligosaccharide chain containing 4-6 pentoses or hexoses at C-3 and a monoterpenic acid or a (E)-cinnamic acid unit at the C-21 position. Of particular interest, erythrosides A-C, E and F contained a rare alpha xylose in their sugar chains. The bioassay results indicated that erythrosides A-C showed moderate cytotoxic activities against human lung cancer cell line PC9 with IC50 values of 13.14, 16.67 and 17.59 μM, respectively (the positive control, Taxol, IC50 = 0.60 nM).The Bioinformatics & Molecular Design Research Center Mass Spectral Library - Natural Products (BMDMS-NP) is a library containing the mass spectra of natural compounds, especially plant specialized metabolites. At present, the library contains the electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry (ESI-MS/MS) spectra of 2739 plant metabolites that are commercially available. The contents of the library were made comprehensive by incorporating data generated under various experimental conditions for compounds with diverse molecular structures. The structural diversity of the BMDMS-NP data was evaluated using molecular fingerprints, and it was sufficiently exhaustive enough to represent the structures of the natural products commercially available. The MS/MS spectra of each metabolite were obtained with different types/brands of ion traps (tandem-in-time) or combinations of mass analyzers (tandem-in-space) at multiple collision energies. All spectra were measured repeatedly in each environment because variations can occur in spectra, even under the same conditions.
