Praziquantel (PZQ) is the preferred drug for schistomiasis treatment because of its safety. As PZQ is used for mass drug administration (MDA) in schistosomiasis endemic areas, the effectiveness of the drug, used solely for decades, should be continuously monitored to detect drug resistance. We aimed to assess the effectiveness of PZQ to cure Schistosoma mansoni infection and to reduce the intensity of infection in an endemic area by estimating the cure rate (CR), egg reduction rate (ERR), and comparing these estimates to the levelsrecommended by the World Health Organization (WHO).

The present study was aimed at increasing BM-****' viability against oxidative stress microenvironment using iron depletion by deferoxamine (DFO). Mesenchymal stem cells are isolated and characterized from rat bone marrow. Then, the sensitivity of BM-**** against H2O2-induced oxidative stress was evaluated through half of the inhibitory concentration (IC50) estimation by using MTT assay. The maximum non-inhibitory concentration of DFO on BM-**** was determined. The next step was the comparison between DFO pre-treated BM-**** and untreated cells against H2O2-induced apoptosis. BM-**** were identified with morphologic and flow cytometry analysis. IC50 of H2O2 was determined as 0.55 mM at 4 h. Also, the maximum non-inhibitory concentration of DFO was ascertained as 5 μM at 48 h. Our results demonstrated that pretreatment with DFO significantly potentiates BM-**** against H2O2-induced oxidative stress which was confirmed by MTT assay, AO/EB double staining, DAPI staining, and activated caspase 3 quantification as well as western blot test. Expression of cleaved caspase 3 and pAKT/AKT ratio obviously demonstrated DFO can resist the cells against cytotoxicity. These findings may help to develop better stem cell culture medium for ****based cell therapy. Reliable information about the spatial distribution of aboveground biomass (AGB) in tropical forests is fundamental for climate change mitigation and for maintaining carbon stocks. Recent AGB maps at continental and national scales have shown large uncertainties, particularly in tropical areas with high AGB values. Errors in AGB maps are linked to the quality of plot data used to calibrate remote sensing products, and the ability of radar data to map high AGB forest. Here we suggest an approach to improve the accuracy of AGB maps and test this approach with a case study of the tropical forests of the Yucatan peninsula, where the accuracy of AGB mapping is lower than other forest types in Mexico. To reduce the errors in field data, National Forest Inventory (NFI) plots were corrected to consider small trees. Temporal differences between NFI plots and imagery acquisition were addressed by considering biomass changes over time. To overcome issues related to saturation of radar backscatter, we incorporate radar of tropical dry forests and shows predictors of AGB that should be considered in future studies. Our results highlight the importance of using ecological knowledge to correct errors associated with both the plot-level biomass estimates and the mismatch between field and remotely sensed data.

Newer classification systems for upper cervical spine trauma now include ligamentous injury in addition to fracture and dislocation patterns. Assessment of associated ligamentous injury, spinal cord injury (SCI), and blunt cerebrovascular injuries (BCVI) in patients with atlanto-occipital distraction injuries (AODI) are critical for management. We aim to determine the incidence of ligamentous injury, SCI, and BCVI in patients with AODI and assess how craniometrics perform in diagnosis of AODI.
We performed an IRB-approved retrospective analysis of 35 cases of diagnosed AODI over a period of 8 years. Imaging was analyzed by two experienced neuroradiologists for craniometric measurements, ligamentous injury, SCI, and BCVI. Craniometric measurements were compared to 35 age-matched controls with normal atlanto-occipital joint.

BACKGROUND A substantial increase in rates of suicide worldwide, especially among late adolescents and young adults, has been observed. It is important to identify specific risk and protective factors for suicide-related behaviors among late adolescents and young adults. Identifying specific factors across the masses, not only in the Western, but also in the Asian context, helps researchers develop empirically informed intervention methods for the management of protective and risk factors of suicide. METHODS In the current study, 2074 students (706 males), filled out the Meaning in Life Questionnaire, with subscales of Search for Meaning (MLQ-S) and Presence of Meaning (MLQ-P); the Future Disposition Inventory-24 (FDI-24), with subscales of Positive Focus (PF), Suicide Orientation (SO), and Negative Focus (NF); and the **** Hopelessness Scale (BHS). These scales measure protective and risk factors that are linked to suicidal behaviors; while suicidal behaviors were measured by the Suicidal Behaviors Questionnaire-Revised (SBQ-R). Mediation analyses were performed to test the models with both the MLQ-S and MLQ-P as the mediators between a) hopelessness, as measured by BHS and suicidal behaviors; and b) PF, SO, and NF, as measured by FDI-24, and suicidal behaviors. RESULTS We found that only MLQ-P mediated the relation between hopelessness and suicidal behaviors; while both MLQ-P and MLQ-S mediated PF, SO, and NF (as measured by FDI-24), and suicidal behaviors, respectively. CONCLUSION Meaning in life, including both the presence of meaning in life and search for meaning, can be good protective factors against suicidal behaviors.BACKGROUND HIV testing plays a central role in the combat against HIV. We aimed to determine if the availability of HIV self-testing (HIVST) would increase the frequency of testing among men who have sex with men (MSM) attending university in China. METHODS A stepped wedge randomized controlled trial will be conducted in 4 provinces in China Chongqing, Guangdong, Shandong, and Tianjin. Eligibility assessment will include (1) male, aged 16 years or older, (2) university student (technical diploma and undergraduate students), (3) MSM (sexual behaviors including mutual masturbation, oral sex, and anal sex), (4) HIV negative, and (5) willing to provide informed consent. Participants will be randomly allocated to HIV self-testing intervention with free HIVST kits in every 30 days according to the intervention waiting lists with a computer-generated randomized sequence. All participants will complete a self-administrated online questionnaire onsite at baseline and 12-month follow-up and complete an online questionnaire at 4- and 8-month. The primary outcome is the effect of HIVST on HIV testing frequency. Secondary outcomes include the change in sexual behaviors and HIV incidence. DISCUSSION No previous study had measured the effect of social media based HIVST intervention on the change in HIV testing behaviors, sexual behaviors and incident HIV infection among MSM attending university in China. Findings from this study will provide evidence for further interventional practice promotions and prevention strategies scale-up, including HIV testing, pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) or post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP), and sexual partner serosorting. METHODS A case-control study was conducted at Queen Sirikit National Institute of Child Health, Bangkok, Thailand. Data were derived from the medical records of 52 sepsis cases and 156 non-sepsis controls. Only proven bacterial neonatal sepsis cases were included in the sepsis group. The non-sepsis group consisted of neonates without any infection. Potential predictors consisted of risk factors, clinical conditions, laboratory data, and treatment modalities. The model was developed based on multiple logistic regression analysis. RESULTS The incidence of late proven neonatal sepsis was 1.46%. The model had 6 significant variables poor feeding, abnormal heart rate (outside the range 100-180 x/min), abnormal temperature (outside the range 36o-37.9 °C), abnormal oxygen saturation, abnormal leucocytes (according to Manroe's criteria by age), and abnormal pH (outside the range 7.27-7.45). The area below the Receiver Operating Characteristics (ROC) curve was 95.5%. The score had a sensitivity of 88.5% and specificity of 90.4%. CONCLUSION A predictive model and a scoring system were developed for proven bacterial late-onset neonatal sepsis. METHODS Microarray was used to determine the hepatic miRNA expression profiles of male C57BL/6 **** fed on standard chow diet, high fat diet (HFD), and HFD combined with uric acid-lowering therapy by allopurinol. We validated the expression of the most significant differentially expressed microRNAs and explored its role and downstream target in uric acid-induced hepatocytes lipid accumulation. RESULTS Microarray analysis and subsequent validation showed that miR-149-5p was significantly up-regulated in the livers of HFD-fed ****, while the expression was down-regulated by allopurinol therapy. MiR-149-5p expression was also significantly up-regulated in uric acid-stimulated hepatocytes. Over-expression of miR-149-5p significantly aggregated uric acid-induced triglyceride accumulation in hepatocytes, while inhibiting miR-149-5p ameliorated the triglyceride accumulation. Luciferase report assay confirmed that FGF21 is a target gene of miR-149-5p. Silencing FGF21 abolished the ameliorative effects of miR-149-5p inhibitor on uric acid-induced hepatocytes lipid accumulation, while overexpression of FGF21 prevented the lipid accumulation induced by miR-149-5p mimics. CONCLUSIONS Uric acid significantly up-regulated the expression of miR-149-5p in hepatocytes and induced hepatocytes lipid accumulation via regulation of miR-149-5p/FGF21 axis.

To evaluate the early outcomes and risk factors of reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA) in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA).
A retrospective study was performed on RA patients who had undergone RSA between January 2016 and January 2018. Preoperative glenohumeral joint damage was evaluated according to two radiographic classification systems. The severity of joint damage was estimated using Larsen's method, while the Levigne-Franceschi method was used to assess the type of destruction. Further, we recorded intra- and postoperative complications. Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) was used to assess the degree of shoulder pain while shoulder function was evaluated with the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) Shoulder Score. A body of literature reported associations between late-life general adiposity measures (eg, body mass index) and dementia. Little is known about the association of late-life body composition with dementia risk.
We determined this association among cognitively normal participants from the Cardiovascular Health Study- Cognition Study. Body composition was assessed by dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry in 1994-1995. Dementia was ascertained at annual follow-up from 1998-1999 to 2013. Associations of body composition with incident dementia were assessed by the Fine-Gray model.

Adipocyte-derived exosomes (ADEs) exert immune-modulatory impact on the macrophage, while whether it can inhibit the macrophage polarization induced by Ti is unclear. This study focuses on the M1-type macrophage and aims to determine the effect of ADEs on Ti-induced M1-type macrophage polarization in osteolytic **** and the involved mechanism.

To evaluate the early outcomes and risk factors of reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA) in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). A retrospective study was performed on RA patients who had undergone RSA between January 2016 and January 2018. Preoperative glenohumeral joint damage was evaluated according to two radiographic classification systems. The severity of joint damage was estimated using Larsen's method, while the Levigne-Franceschi method was used to assess the type of destruction. Objective To investigate the features of the full-field electroretinogram (FERG) in patients with ocular surface alkaline injury, and to clarify the clinical significance of FERG examination in alkaline ocular trauma. Methods Retrospective series of case study. A total of 22 patients with chemical ocular surface injury who were treated in the Department of Ophthalmology of Peking University Third Hospital from May 2018 to January 2020 were selected, including 20 males (25 eyes) and 2 females (2 eyes). The age ranged from 19 to 60 years old (average, 41). There were 17 eyes with alkaline ocular trauma, 7 eyes with thermal burn, and 3 eyes with acid ocular trauma. Seventeen contralateral healthy eyes in patients with unilateral mechanical trauma were used as controls. Fourteen alkaline trauma eyes with visual acuity records were further observed according to the degree of visual impairment. All patients were subjected to different flash intensity stimuli in accordance with a standard of the International Society for Clinical Electrophysiology of Vision for dark-adapted and light-adapted full-field FERG. One-way ANOVA and SNK-q was used for the comparison between groups. The unpaired t test was used for the comparison of patients with different vision. Results Compared with healthy eyes the injured eyes' amplitude of dark adaption FERG b-wave under the dark stimulation of 0.01 cd·s·m-2 in alkaline ocular trauma, thermal burn, acid ocular trauma was (135±85), (169±55), and (112±43) versus (341±53) μV, respectively; compared with healthy eyes, the differences were statistically significant (F=31.38; q=8.94, 5.70, 5.45ï¼›all P0.05) after alkaline ocular trauma. Conclusions By detecting the amplitude change of FERG wave form of chemical ocular trauma, in this study, the amplitude of FERG wave form in alkaline ocular trauma was generally decreased. It's suggested that alkaline ocular trauma can cause damage to the rod and cone systems of retinal. All patients were AQP4 antibody seropositive, and had clinical manifestations of acute optic neuritis, with a history of optic neuritis treated with glucocorticoids effectively. They received the treatment of IVMP 500 mg/d or 1 000 mg/d for 3 to 5 days. The post-treatment and pre-treatment visual acuities were compared. Improving four lines or more was considered as markedly effective, improving two or three lines as effective, and improving one line or no change or a decline as no effect. One patient was treated with enucleation and orbital hydroxyapatite implantation because of eye atrophy and corneal banding degeneration caused by the primary disease at 4 years after operation. The surgeon was satisfied with the improvement of the appearance of all cases; 22 patients (88.0%) were satisfied with the postoperative appearance. No significant complications were observed in all the cases. Conclusions Corneal interlamellar staining is one of best choices for the treatment of corneal leucoma. It has advantages of quick postoperative recovery, long-standing color staining and good cosmetic effect. The operation is simple and easy to carry out and there is no obvious damage to eye tissues. Understanding experiences of acute care by persons with mental health problems is vital for improving these experiences through the development of different parts of the care delivery and its facilities. Literature has extensively addressed experiences of persons with mental health problems in acute care settings. Yet, there is a paucity of studies that aggregate and organize these findings in presenting development-oriented solutions for the improvements of these experiences. WHAT THE PAPER ADDS TO EXISTING KNOWLEDGE? Acute care can be understood through patients' experiences of structure (such as setting, staff and resources); process (such as communication and interpersonal relations); and outcome (such as satisfaction and post-discharge well-being and health) and suggests improvements in these domains. The paper illuminates that previous literature has mainly captured negative experiences of acute care by persons with mental health problems, and suggests diverting the focus tuthors. In this issue of Molecular Ecology, Walden et al.(2020) investigate the scale of parallel climate adaptation from standing genetic variation between two North American Arabidopsis lyrata lineages, each formed by a distinct evolutionary history during the last glacial cycle. By identifying adaptive variants correlated with three ecologically significant climatic gradients, they show that instead of the same genetic variants or even genes, parallel evolution is only observed at the level of biological processes. Yet, there is a paucity of studies that aggregate and organize these findings in presenting development-oriented solutions for the improvements of these experiences. WHAT THE PAPER ADDS TO EXISTING KNOWLEDGE? Acute care can be understood through patients' experiences of structure (such as setting, staff and resources); process (such as communication and interpersonal relations); and outcome (such as satisfaction and post-discharge well-being and health) and suggests improvements in these domains. By identifying adaptive variants correlated with three ecologically significant climatic gradients, they show that instead of the same genetic variants or even genes, parallel evolution is only observed at the level of biological processes. The evolution of independent adaptive variants to climate in two genetically close lineages is explained by their different post-glacial demographic histories. This paper identifies the main sediment sources to the Beaudet Reservoir in Quebec (Canada) using sediment fingerprinting. The reservoir, which is built on the Bulstrode River and provides drinking water to Victoriaville, has decreased in capacity by 35% in the past 35 years. This study provides new data on fingerprinting in large and complex watersheds, a first in the province of Quebec. Nine sampling sites on the Bulstrode River and its three main tributaries were selected and five sampling campaigns were conducted. Samples from river bank profiles and adjacent fields, along with suspended sediments, were collected. All samples were sieved to 2 mm and analyzed for 137Caesium, 15 geochemical elements and sieved to 63 μm for color analysis. Source classification, based on an ANOVA test to verify the independence hypothesis and iterative linear discriminant analysis to optimize the ratio of inter-group/within-group variability, resulted in four sample classes agricultural soils, forested soils, stream bank bottom and stream bank top. A Kruskal-Wallis H test then identified 21 out of the 32 tracers with p value less then 0.05. The linear discriminant analysis led to a set of 14 tracers, namely 137Cs and 13 color coefficients with a discriminating result of 94%. That combination of 137Cs and color coefficients proved to be a cost-effective fingerprint. Based on MixSIAR modeling results, this sediment fingerprinting study has demonstrated that the main sediment sources varied within the watershed but, generally, forested soil particles dominated (33 to 49%), then agricultural soils (43 to 50%) reflecting the land use changes, followed by stream bank bottoms (82%) at the Beaudet Reservoir.Hydrogen isotope (δ2H) analysis has been routinely used as an ecological tracer for animal movement and migration, yet a biochemical understanding of how animals incorporate this element in the synthesis of tissues is poorly resolved. Here, we apply a new analytical tool, amino acid (AA) δ2H analysis, in a controlled setting to trace the influence of drinking water and dietary macromolecules on the hydrogen in muscle tissue. We varied the δ2H of drinking water and the proportions of dietary protein and carbohydrates with distinct hydrogen and carbon isotope compositions fed to house **** among nine treatments. Our results show that hydrogen in the non-essential (AANESS) and essential (AAESS) AAs of mouse muscle is not readily exchanged with body water, but rather patterns among these compounds can be described through consideration of the major biochemical pathway(s) used by organisms to synthesize or route them from available sources. Dietary carbohydrates contributed more hydrogen than drinking water to the synthesis of AANESS in muscle. To evaluate the 72-month clinical results of trabectome surgery (TOM) in patients with primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG), secondary OAG and childhood glaucoma.
A total of 305 eyes from 249 glaucoma patients were analyzed in the current retrospective single-center study. Kaplan-Meier analysis was performed using three criteria criterion A (postoperative intraocular pressure [IOP] ≤ 21mmHg and ≥ 20% reduction from baseline IOP); criterion B (postoperative IOP ≤ 18mmHg and ≥ 20% reduction from baseline IOP); and criterion C (postoperative IOP ≤ 16mmHg and ≥ 20% reduction from baseline IOP). The changes in IOP, medication score, success probability, results of the multivariate analysis for success and failure risk factors, and complications were analyzed.
The baseline IOP in all glaucoma patients decreased from 29.2 ± 9.8mmHg with a 5.3 ± 1.7 medication score to 16.4 ± 5.8mmHg (- 43.8%) with a 4.2 ± 1.5 medication score at 72months (p < 0.01). The success probabilities in all cases for 72months based on criterion A, B, and C were 44%, 35%, and 17%, respectively. For criterion A, no significant differences were found in the success probability according to the glaucoma subtype for 72months. The combined surgical procedure significantly decreased the failure risk (hazard ratio [HR] 0.59). On the other hand, the presence of POAG (HR 1.6) and a history of past selective laser trabeculoplasty (HR 2.2) significantly increased failure risk. One patient (0.3%) demonstrated endophthalmitis after TOM but recovered through appropriate treatment.

A total of 194 consecutive de novo lesions from 165 cases underwent RA for calcified lesions of nonsmall vessels between January 2016 and August 2018 in a single centre. Overall, 8 cases/10 lesions were excluded because of RA followed plain old balloon angioplasty (POBA). Remaining lesions were grouped into the DES (88 cases/104 lesions) and DCB (69 cases/80 lesions) groups and then compared retrospectively. The primary endpoint was post-discharge major adverse cardiovascular events (****) at 1 year, and it was defined as cardiac death, noncardiac death, target-vessel-related myocardial infarction, target lesion revascularization (TLR), and major bleeding (BARC ≥ type 3).

To determine the prevalence of developmental defects of the enamel (DDE) in premolars whose infected predecessors were submitted to pulp therapy with antibiotic paste or extractions due to pulp necrosis.
A cross-sectional study with a consecutive sample consisting of children and adolescents who presented with fully erupted premolars, was evaluated. Data were collected by dental examinations, in which the modified DDE index was applied. Dental records were evaluated and three groups of premolars were determined according to the clinical history of predecessors GCTZ with pulp necrosis and treated with CTZ (chloramphenicol, tetracycline, zinc oxide and eugenol) paste; GE with pulp necrosis and treated by extraction; GH healthy and physiologically exfoliated. Descriptive analysis and a logistic regression (p <0.05) were performed.
The study included 1017 premolars, DDE was present in 22.5%. Premolars belonging to the GE group presented higher odds of DDE (odds ratio (OR) = 3.52, 95% CI2.29-5.40) than those of GCTZ group (OR = 2.43, 95% CI1.51-3.91) and GH group (p <0.01). Enamel defects were more frequent in maxillary premolars (OR = 3.22, 95% CI1.65-6.27, OR = 3.39, 95% CI1.67-6.90, OR = 2.90, 95% CI1.48-5.66 and OR = 3.10, 95% CI1.54-6.23).

This study evaluated repair protocols of a non-aged and aged bulk-fill composite in terms of bond strength and leakage.
Ninety-six bulk-fill resin specimens were constructed; half were submitted to thermocycling. Specimens were divided into six groups (n = 16) according to the repair treatments CG no repair (control group); Ad adhesive; DbAd abrasion with diamond *** + adhesive; SbAd sandblasting + adhesive; DbSiAd abrasion with diamond *** + silane + adhesive; and SbSiAd sandblasting + silane + adhesive. Resin blocks were bonded to the treated surfaces to simulate repair, and the specimens were submitted to microtensile bond strength testing. The failure area was evaluated under a stereomicroscope (40X magnification), and leakage after specimen immersion in silver nitrate solution for 24 h was evaluated under a microscope (200X magnification). Three-way ANOVA (surface treatment, chemical agent, aging) and Tukey's test were performed.
Ad and DbAd groups showed the lowest bond strengths, while Ad was the only group negatively influenced by aging. The other groups were statistically similar to the CG in both conditions. All groups exhibited leakage, but groups without silane presented a greater percentage of leakage, mainly when diamond burs were used. Thermocycling did not influence leakage, nor did surface treatment in groups with silane.

To assess the mandibular cortical width (MCW) and morphology of the mandibular inferior cortex (MIC) on panoramic views from a large sample of males and females in various age groups by using an automated morphometric grading system for assisting osteoporosis screening. Furthermore, possible predictors and concrete cut-off values to identify the risk for osteoporosis were evaluated.
MCW, MIC, tooth loss (TL), and alveolar bone loss (ABL) were retrospectively evaluated in 700 panoramic images from dental patients in Hong Kong using commercially available software. To estimate possible predictors for identifying the risk of osteoporosis, age, TL, and ABL were evaluated with the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves for each gender separately.
The age groups 60s (sixties), 70s and 80s showed statistically significant gender differences. For example, a smaller MCW and more ****Class 3 were found in females. Furthermore, females exhibited a statistically significant increase in TL in the age groups 50 years and above. To determine the prevalence of developmental defects of the enamel (DDE) in premolars whose infected predecessors were submitted to pulp therapy with antibiotic paste or extractions due to pulp necrosis. A cross-sectional study with a consecutive sample consisting of children and adolescents who presented with fully erupted premolars, was evaluated. Data were collected by dental examinations, in which the modified DDE index was applied. Dental records were evaluated and three groups of premolars were determined according to the clinical history of predecessors GCTZ with pulp necrosis and treated with CTZ (chloramphenicol, tetracycline, zinc oxide and eugenol) paste; GE with pulp necrosis and treated by extraction; GH healthy and physiologically exfoliated. Descriptive analysis and a logistic regression (p <0.05) were performed. The study included 1017 premolars, DDE was present in 22.5%. MCW, MIC, tooth loss (TL), and alveolar bone loss (ABL) were retrospectively evaluated in 700 panoramic images from dental patients in Hong Kong using commercially available software. To estimate possible predictors for identifying the risk of osteoporosis, age, TL, and ABL were evaluated with the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves for each gender separately. Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) can spread rapidly in nursing homes and long-term care (LTC) facilities. Symptoms-based screening and manual contact tracing have limitations that render them ineffective for containing the viral spread in LTC facilities. Symptoms-based screening alone cannot identify asymptomatic people who are infected, and the viral spread is too fast in confined living quarters to be contained by slow manual contact tracing processes.
We describe the development of a digital contact tracing system that LTC facilities can use to rapidly identify and contain asymptomatic and symptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infected contacts. A compartmental model was also developed to simulate disease transmission dynamics and to assess system performance versus conventional methods.
We developed a compartmental model parameterized specifically to assess the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) transmission in LTC facilities. The model was used to quantify the impact of asymptomatic transmive tool to control COVID-19 outbreaks in LTC facilities. As facilities prepare to relax restrictions and reopen to outside visitors, such tools will allow them to do so in a surgical, cost-effective manner that controls outbreaks while safely giving residents **** the life they once had before this pandemic hit.In the context of motor imagery, electroencephalography (EEG) data vary from subject to subject such that the performance of a classifier trained on data of multiple subjects from a specific domain typically degrades when applied to a different subject. While collecting enough samples from each subject would address this issue, it is often too time-consuming and impractical. To tackle this problem, we propose a novel end-to-end deep domain adaptation method to improve the classification performance on a single subject (target domain) by taking the useful information from multiple subjects (source domain) into consideration. Especially, the proposed method jointly optimizes three modules, including a feature extractor, a classifier, and a domain discriminator. The feature extractor learns the discriminative latent features by mapping the raw EEG signals into a deep representation space. A center loss is further employed to constrain an invariant feature space and reduce the intrasubject nonstationarity. Furthermore, the domain discriminator matches the feature distribution shift between source and target domains by an adversarial learning strategy. Finally, based on the consistent deep features from both domains, the classifier is able to leverage the information from the source domain and accurately predict the label in the target domain at the test time. To evaluate our method, we have conducted extensive experiments on two real public EEG data sets, data set IIa, and data set IIb of brain-computer interface (BCI) Competition IV. The experimental results validate the efficacy of our method. Therefore, our method is promising to reduce the calibration time for the use of BCI and promote the development of BCI.An algorithm is proposed to determine output feedback policies that solve finite-horizon linear-quadratic (LQ) optimal control problems without requiring knowledge of the system dynamical matrices. To this end, we propose a joint PCP model for constrained SC by simultaneously learning a propagation matrix and an affinity matrix. Then, we analyze its trajectory by introducing the Cauchy matrix and prove its boundedness by contradiction. Finally, a numerical simulation is presented to illustrate the validness of obtained results.

Hypertension and heart failure are common conditions in older people. Comorbidity, together with aging, is commonly associated with frailty, which is a cause of a worse prognosis, more hospitalizations, increased dependency, and mortality. Despite being increasingly common conditions, data on the prevalence and influence of frailty in hypertensive older patients with HF are lacking. This may be due to the multidimensional aspects of frailty and the differing tools used to evaluate it. Nevertheless, in clinical practice, it is common to see frail hypertensive patients with HF but the specific characteristics of this group of patients, including multimorbidity and frailty, and the lack of data from registries or randomized clinical trials make the diagnosis and management of these patients more difficult than in those of other ages. Our aim was to use epidemiological data to determine the incidence of soccer-related head injuries in children aged 5-14 years who presented at emergency departments (EDs) or were admitted in hospitals in Victoria, Australia.
ED presentation and hospital admission de-identified aggregate data were from the Victorian Injury Surveillance Unit. Soccer participation data were compared with the soccer-related head injury data to determine the incidence of this injury among these children.
The incidence of ED presentations was 0.17% of children participating in soccer during the study period (financial years 2011-2012 to 2015-2016). The 10-14-years age group presented with more head injuries than the 5-9-years age group. For the admissions data, soccer had a significantly lower (P = 0.0379) incidence of head injury when compared with 'sport as a whole'.

Enteropathic spondyloarthritis (ESpA) and inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) have high impact on physical and psychological health but health-related quality of life (HRQoL) has never been evaluated in ESpA patients.
Cross-sectional multidisciplinary study was performed to evaluate HRQoL, state of health, and well-being in IBD and ESpA patients.
Consecutive IBD and ESpA outpatients were enrolled. Disease activity, inflammatory parameters, function, and quality of life (EuroQol questionnaire) were assessed at visit time and compared with 12 months ago.
Two hundred fifty-three IBD patients were evaluated. Ninety-five patients met inclusion criteria. ESpA was established in 65.3% IBD patients. Most ESpA patients had discreet or good health perception (65.3% and 22.5%, respectively), similar to IBD group (64.6% and 20.7%, respectively). In both groups, no patients had exceptional state of general well-being. Compared with previous 12 months, ESpA group showed improved state of health in 12% of patients, worsening in 28% and stable state of health in 60%. Similar results were obtained in IBD group. Emotional and psychological problems (anxiety, depression, and feeling of loneliness and isolation) were reported In ESpA patients, these feelings were observed in 58.1%, 40.57%, and 29% of cases, respectively; IBD patients showed slightly lower percentage. More than half of ESpA and IBD patients reported an embarrassment about their condition and worry about disease's future progression and physical pain.

The emergence and transmission of tigecycline- and carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (TCRKP) have become a major concern to public health globally. Here, we investigated the molecular epidemiology and mechanisms of tigecycline resistance in carbapenem-resistant Kpneumoniae (CRKP) isolates.
Forty-five non-duplicate CRKP isolates were collected from January 2017 to June 2019. We performed antimicrobial susceptibility tests, multilocus sequence typing (MLST), and pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE). PCR and DNA sequencing were performed for the detection and mutation analysis of acrR, oqxR, ramR, rpsJ, tet(A), and tet(X) genes, which are related to tigecycline resistance. The expression levels of efflux pump genes acrB and oqxB and their regulator genes rarA, ramA, soxS, and marA were assessed by quantitative real-time PCR.
The resistance rate to tigecycline in CRKP isolates was 37.8% (17/45). K pneumoniae ST307 was a predominant clone type (70.6%, 12/17) among the TCRKP isolates. The expression levels of acrB (P<.001) and marA (P=.009) were significantly higher in the tigecycline-resistant group than in the tigecycline-intermediate and tigecycline-susceptible groups. Increased expression of acrB was associated with marA expression (r=0.59, P=.013).

Enteropathic spondyloarthritis (ESpA) and inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) have high impact on physical and psychological health but health-related quality of life (HRQoL) has never been evaluated in ESpA patients. Cross-sectional multidisciplinary study was performed to evaluate HRQoL, state of health, and well-being in IBD and ESpA patients. Consecutive IBD and ESpA outpatients were enrolled. Disease activity, inflammatory parameters, function, and quality of life (EuroQol questionnaire) were assessed at visit time and compared with 12 months ago. Two hundred fifty-three IBD patients were evaluated. Ninety-five patients met inclusion criteria. ESpA was established in 65.3% IBD patients. Most ESpA patients had discreet or good health perception (65.3% and 22.5%, respectively), similar to IBD group (64.6% and 20.7%, respectively). In both groups, no patients had exceptional state of general well-being. Compared with previous 12 months, ESpA group showed improved state of health in 12% of patients, worsening in 28% and stable state of health in 60%. Similar results were obtained in IBD group. Emotional and psychological problems (anxiety, depression, and feeling of loneliness and isolation) were reported In ESpA patients, these feelings were observed in 58.1%, 40.57%, and 29% of cases, respectively; IBD patients showed slightly lower percentage. More than half of ESpA and IBD patients reported an embarrassment about their condition and worry about disease's future progression and physical pain. The emergence and transmission of tigecycline- and carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (TCRKP) have become a major concern to public health globally. Here, we investigated the molecular epidemiology and mechanisms of tigecycline resistance in carbapenem-resistant Kpneumoniae (CRKP) isolates. Forty-five non-duplicate CRKP isolates were collected from January 2017 to June 2019. We performed antimicrobial susceptibility tests, multilocus sequence typing (MLST), and pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE). PCR and DNA sequencing were performed for the detection and mutation analysis of acrR, oqxR, ramR, rpsJ, tet(A), and tet(X) genes, which are related to tigecycline resistance. The expression levels of efflux pump genes acrB and oqxB and their regulator genes rarA, ramA, soxS, and marA were assessed by quantitative real-time PCR. The resistance rate to tigecycline in CRKP isolates was 37.8% (17/45). K pneumoniae ST307 was a predominant clone type (70.6%, 12/17) among the TCRKP isolates. The expression levels of acrB (P<.001) and marA (P=.009) were significantly higher in the tigecycline-resistant group than in the tigecycline-intermediate and tigecycline-susceptible groups. Increased expression of acrB was associated with marA expression (r=0.59, P=.013). We found that the activated MarA-induced overexpression of AcrAB efflux pump plays an important role in the emergence of tigecycline resistance in CRKP isolates.
