The two field-collected Ae. albopictus populations assayed were infected by all tested ZIKV strains, however differences in terms of vector competence were detected depending on strain-population combination. Moreover, a higher susceptibility to the African I lineage strain than to the Asian lineage strain was observed in both mosquito populations. On the other hand, VT was demonstrated for both ZIKV lineages, detecting the virus in both males and females of the progeny of infected females, although importantly ZIKV dissemination and transmission were not detected in the infected females from the offspring. To determine the refractive stability of patients with keratoconus and cataracts after the implantation of a toric intraocular lens.
This is a cross-sectional, retrospectivestudy. Clinical records from patients with non-progressive keratoconus and cataracts that underwent non-complicated phacoemulsification with toric IOL implantation were reviewed. Mean keratometry (Km), refractive cylinder (RC), spherical equivalent (SE), steeper keratometry (K), and axis were evaluated at the 1-month, 6-month, 12-month, and 24-month follow-up visits.
Fifty-four eyes from 41 patients were included. Thirty-seven (68.5%) female and 17 (31.5%) male patients, with a mean age of 67.52 ± 8.22. Refractive cylinder at postoperative 30 days was -1.61 ± 1.23, 6-month -1.22 ± 0.80, 12-month -1.10 ± 0.83 and 24-month visit after surgery was -1.37 ± 0.77(

Patients with moderate to severe COVID-19 infection require specific drugs to prevent the morbidity and mortality. Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) has shown some promise in the management of COVID 19. Minocycline, because of its anticytokine and other useful properties can be an ideal candidate for combining with HCQ.
Here we review the need and mechanisms and reasons for combining HCQ and minocycline moderate to severe COVID-19 infection. We also reviewed the advantages, potential safety concerns and precautions to be taken, while combining HCQ and minocycline.
Combining HCQ and minocycline offers many advantages in the management of moderate to severe COVID-19 infection. Both drugs are cheaper, widely available and long-term safety data and contraindications are well known. We do not recommend this combination for prophylaxis or use in asymptomatic or mild disease patients as this can lead to unnecessary safety concerns. Additive antimicrobial and anticytokine effects of both drugs may reduce the morbidity aing evidence-based recommendations.The aim of our research was to obtain expert consensus for updated definition and classification of dry eye disease using formal methodology. The nominal group technique (NGT) involved a steering committee of four ophthalmologists began with collection of ideas followed by group discussion. The ideas were collated, refined, and voted upon. The main characteristics considered, each with different degrees of severity in types I, II, and III, were the ability or not of the ocular surface to re-equilibrate itself, frequency of symptoms, presence of inflammation, epithelial alterations, and possible alterations in the quality of vision. This was followed by three rounds of a "mini-Delphi" involving an expert panel of 13 ophthalmologists, with the last round including all 17 ophthalmologists. Consensus in the final round of voting (⩾75% of votes) was reached on the definition of dry eye disease and on criteria for its classification in three forms. Type I is a transient and reversible form with subclinical inflammation, possible epithelial alterations, and occasional alterations in vision.

In Achilles tendinopathy (AT) the ability to store and recycle elastic energy during ground contact phase is often altered. A measure of this function is represented by leg stiffness (LS). Immediate responses in LS following therapeutic intervention have not been examined.

However, little is known about the molecular basis of its pathogenesis. In this study, signature-tagged transposon mutagenesis based on Tn4351 was developed in R. anatipestifer to identify genes essential for survival and pathogenesis. Seventeen tagged Tn4351 random mutation libraries of the R. anatipestifer strain WJ4 containing 5100 mutants were screened for survive using a duckling infection model. Twenty mutants that could not be recovered from the infected ducklings, were identified, and 17 mutated genes were identified by inverse PCR or genome-walking PCR. Of these genes, FIP52_03215, FIP52_04350 and FIP52_09345, were inserted into two mutant strains, and FIP52_03215 and FIP52_03175 were found exclusively on the chromosome of serotype 1 R. anatipestifer strains. Twelve out of 17 genes encoding for proteins were predicted to be involved in amino acid, nucleotide, coenzyme, or lipid transport and metabolism, one gene was predicted to be involved in signal transduction, one gene was predicted to be involved in DNA replication, recombination and repair, the other three genes had an unknown function. Animal experiments showed that the virulence of mutants 16-284, 7-295, 24-231, 9-232 and 19-214 were significantly attenuated compared to that of the wild-type WJ4. Moreover, the median lethal dose of mutant 16-284 was greater than 1010 CFU, and its virulence to ducklings was partially restored when it was complemented with the shuttle expression plasmid pRES-FIP52_09345. The DSB repair factors (γ-H2AX, ****, 53BP1) showed distribution as microscale-colocalized and nanoscale interlaced substructure in the DSB repair complex. The dual-color nanoscopic imaging of γ-H2AX and chromatin at the DSB sites suggest that DNA damage response and repair cascade are chromatin structure-dependent and also partly dependent on the distance to the DSB sites. Results revealed that derealization symptoms predicted a nearly 5-fold increase in relative risk of incident PTSD (relative risk ratio = 4.57, 95% confidence interval = 1.55-13.52), even after adjusting for relevant sociodemographic and trauma-related factors, and severity of PTSD symptoms at baseline. To our knowledge, this study is the first to suggest that trait dissociative symptoms-specifically derealization-may be an important population-based risk factor for the development of PTSD in trauma-exposed U.

The SWEdish evaluation of left Ventricular Assist Device (SweVAD) study is a Phase IV, prospective, 11 randomized, non-blinded, multicentre trial that will examine the impact of assignment to mechanical circulatory support with guideline-directed LVAD destination therapy (GD-LVAD-DT) using the HeartMate 3 (HM3) continuous flow pump vs. guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT) on survival in a population of AdHF patients ineligible for HTx. METHODS A total of 80 patients will be recruited to SweVAD at the seven university hospitals in Sweden. The study population will comprise patients with AdHF (New York Heart Association class IIIB-IV, INTERMACS profile 2-6) who display signs of poor prognosis despite GDMT and who are not considered eligible for HTx. Participants will be followed for 2 years or until death occurs. Other endpoints will be determined by blinded adjudication. Patients who remain on study-assigned interventions beyond 2 years will be asked to continue follow-up for outcomes and adverse events for up to 5 years. The results show that variation of structure and optical properties of the ion-exchanged glasses are indicative of alterations of the silicate network structure induced by argon ion bombardment, which provide important information for application of the ion-exchanged glasses.The optical measurement algorithm for the real front and **** surfaces of contact lenses from their center to periphery accurately and simultaneously is proposed. It is an algorithm that makes light incident vertically along the curved surfaces of contact lenses under the condition that the difference of curvature radii between the front and **** surfaces is small enough within the NA of the optical probe. For this purpose, we adopted time-domain optical coherence tomography (OCT) with translation and rotation mechanisms. The shape, thickness distribution, and curvature radii of both surfaces were estimated with OCT signal analysis and circular approximation. The measured results were compared with the designed values and the measured data from a conventional shape measurement device. The curved shape of both surfaces and thickness were well matched with the designed values from lens center to periphery. In a curvature radius of the front surface, there was a proportional bias with a limit of agreement of -0.77% to -2.09%, and the correlation coefficient was 0.57. On the **** surface, there was no systematic bias, and minimal detectable change was 0.178 mm, in a range of 95% confidential interval. The proposed algorithm well visualized the real shape and optical characteristics of the contact lens with enough accuracy to the design.Sodium alginate (SA), as a natural marine biopolymer, possesses many merits such as super-easy accessibility from the ocean, low cost, nontoxicity, and no synthesis for practical application. We proved the feasibility of SMSIPTS, and the effect of SMSIPTS and SMSIP on reconstruction is compared by simulation. Last, we experimentally verified the feasibility of the theory of SMSIPTS.We demonstrate the controllable generation of infrared dispersive waves (DWs) from customized, in-house fabricated silica microstructured optical fibers (MOFs) by manipulating the location of zero dispersion wavelength (ZDW) through the structure of the fibers. The highly enriched shaping mechanism of arrested soliton in the MOFs with two ZDWs provides a technique for efficient energy transfer into the targeted eye-safe wavelengths at 1.7 and 2.0 µm by the virtue of DW formation.The second-harmonic generation process of a focused laser beam inside a nonlinear crystal is described by the Boyd-Kleinman theory. Calculating the actual conversion efficiency and upconverted power requires the solution to a double integral that is analytically intractable. We provide an expression that predicts the exact gain coefficient within an error margin of less than 2% over several orders of magnitude of the confocal parameter and as a function of the walk-off parameter. In addition, the absorption peak and resonance wavelength can be flexibly adjusted by the electron doping of BP, the geometrical parameters of the structure, and the refractive index of the dielectric substrate. Because of the anisotropy properties of BP, the structure exhibits polarization-dependent absorption characteristics. Thus, the missing angle rectangular structure will provide a potential to design mid-infrared absorbers and shows a significant practical application in many photoelectric devices such as photodetectors, modulators, and optical switches.

A 24-year-old male patient presented with a provisional single-unit fixed prosthesis on his upper left central incisor, in function for 4 years, with the chief complaint of prosthesis discoloration. Preclinical and clinical evidence suggests that oxytocin administration decreases food intake and weight. The mechanisms underlying the anorexigenic effects of oxytocin in humans are unknown but critical to study to consider oxytocin as a neurohormonal weight loss treatment. Complementing ongoing research into metabolic and food motivation mechanisms of oxytocin, this study hypothesized that in humans, oxytocin improves cognitive control over behavior.
In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover study of 24-IU single-dose intranasal oxytocin, 10 men with overweight or obesity completed a stop-signal task assessing ability and strategy to suppress behavioral impulses, in which they performed a choice-reaction task (go task) but had to withhold their response when prompted (stop task). It was hypothesized that oxytocin would improve suppression of behavioral impulses.
After receiving oxytocin, compared with placebo, participants showed increased reaction times in the go task (mean [M] = 936 milliseconds vs. 833 millseconds; P = 0.012; 95% CI 29 to 178) and displayed fewer stop errors (M = 36.41% vs. 41.15%; P = 0.049; 95% CI -9.43% to -0.03%).

However, the Japanese population had higher 24-hr average and daytime SBP, and the Thai population had higher nighttime SBP even after adjusting for cardiovascular risk factors (all p less then .05). Greater morning BP surge was observed in Japanese (31.2 vs 22.8 mm Hg, p less then .001). Regarding nocturnal BP dipping status, the prevalence of riser status (higher nighttime than daytime SBP) was higher in the Thai population (30.5% vs 10.9%). These findings suggest that a substantial difference in 24-hr BP profiles exists between even neighboring countries in Asia.

Robust rank aggregation analysis was used to integrate multiple microarrays in rodent models of TLE and determine differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in acute, latent, and chronic stages. Functional annotation and protein-protein interaction analysis were performed to explore the potential functions of the DEGs and identify hub genes with the highest intramodular connectivity. The association between hub genes and hippocampal sclerosis/seizure frequency was analyzed using publicly available RNA-sequencing datasets from TLE patients. We subsequently established a pilocarpine-induced status epilepticus (SE) model in rats and validated mRNA expression of hub genes by quantitative reverse transcription PCR (qRT-PCR).

Complementing ongoing research into metabolic and food motivation mechanisms of oxytocin, this study hypothesized that in humans, oxytocin improves cognitive control over behavior. In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover study of 24-IU single-dose intranasal oxytocin, 10 men with overweight or obesity completed a stop-signal task assessing ability and strategy to suppress behavioral impulses, in which they performed a choice-reaction task (go task) but had to withhold their response when prompted (stop task). It was hypothesized that oxytocin would improve suppression of behavioral impulses. After receiving oxytocin, compared with placebo, participants showed increased reaction times in the go task (mean [M] = 936 milliseconds vs. 833 millseconds; P = 0.012; 95% CI 29 to 178) and displayed fewer stop errors (M = 36.41% vs. 41.15%; P = 0.049; 95% CI -9.43% to -0.03%). The CRTT-R-WF-Cantonese provided better aphasia diagnostic sensitivity (100%) and specificity (83.30%) values than the CRTT-L-Cantonese. BACKGROUND Brain iron deficiency (BID), especially for the substantia nigra (SN), without peripheral iron deficiency (ID) has been well documented as a ubiquitous finding for restless legs syndrome (RLS) patients. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/indy.html This close association suggests the biology of RLS BID can produce RLS symptoms. Association, however, cannot establish such a direct relationship. Instead, the BID of RLS could be experimentally produced to determine if it then produces significant RLS-like biological or behavioral features. Forward genetics approach led to identification from the BXD strains the BXD40 females (BXD40f) as a putative animal model for the RLS BID. The BXD40f on an iron-sufficient diet have a lower iron in the VMB (containing the SN) during the active but not inactive period. This was not found for the other BXD strains evaluated. The BXD40f on an ID diet uniquely have even greater reduced VMB but not peripheral iron, matching the RLS BID pathophysiology. A prior report found that the BXD40f on an iron-sufficient dietroduced earlier onset of the RLS-like behavior matching the earlier onset of symptoms with increasing severity of RLS. The dopaminergic treatments significantly reduced the RLS-like behavior. Added analyses of the RLS-like behaviors as decreased resting times showed similar results to activity increases. CONCLUSIONS These data demonstrate both that The BXD40f provide a useful animal model of RLS and also strongly support the hypothesis that the biology of RLS BID can produce RLS symptoms. OBJECTIVES To compare the results of secondary alveoloplasty performed in one Hospital when osteosynthesis material was used and when the bone graft does not require this material, and relating them to factors such as gender and age. MATERIAL AND METHODS A retrospective study was conducted from the years 2014 to 2019 in this Hospital on the selected patients who met the inclusion criteria. Two periods of ages, period A ages between 5-12 years (mixed secondary alveoloplasty) and period B greater than 12 years (late secondary alveoloplasty). Autologous bone from the iliac crest or parietal calotte was used for the bone graft. The patients were divided into 2 groups group I patients with alveoloplasties that required osteosynthesis material. Group II patients who did not require osteosynthesis material. Parameters evaluated the success criteria for alveoloplasty were assessed according to the clinical parameters described by Precious. Alveoloplasty was successful if they met all the criteria of Precious in the year of intervention. Postoperative complications in both groups were evaluated. The statistical analysis was performed using the exact Fisher test for qualitative variables. RESULTS Alveoloplasty was successful in 89.4% of patients in group I, while it was 90.3% in group II. Alveoloplasty was successful in 87.5% of females compared to 91.17% of males. The intervention was a success in 91.48% of patients in group A, compared to 66.6% in group B. The osteosynthesis material in two patients of group I was not degraded in the annual assessment. There were no significant differences in any of the comparisons. CONCLUSIONS The use of osteosynthesis material does not alter the integration of the bone graft in patients that undergo alveoloplasty. Factors such as gender or age do not influence the results of the interventions. L.U.INTRODUCTION Eosinophilic oesophagitis (EoE) affects the quality of life (QoL) of the patients and their families. Specific quality of life questionnaires help to evaluate the QoL for this particular disease, as well as to make diagnostic or therapeutic changes in order to improve it. OBJECTIVE To make a transcultural adaptation of the original English version of the Pediatric Eosinophilic Esophagitis Quality of Life Module (Peds QL EoE Module) into the Spanish language. METHODS The PedsQL EoE Module questionnaire consists of 3 versions for parents and children from 5-7, 8-12, and 13-18 years, and one for parents of children from 2-4 years. It follows the international consensus methodology, consisting of performing independent translations of the original English version to Spanish, a consensus Spanish version, a ****-translation into English, preliminary final version, as well as a cognitive interview with 5 parents and children of each age group in order to evaluate the comprehension of the questionnaire, and once the difficulties found are resolved, the final version. RESULTS In the cognitive interview, 15 children and 20 parents responded to all the questions. The time taken to complete the questionnaire seemed adequate to them, and the comprehension test was easy. The 5 to 7 years children group took the longest in responding and that had more difficulty in understanding it. The overall satisfaction was high, and the questionnaire seemed to be a useful tool for them. CONCLUSIONS After it validation, the transcultural adaptation to Spanish of the Peds QL EoE Module questionnaire can be applied in order to study the QoL of Spanish children with EoE. After 7 days, the metrorrhagia volume was measured, the levels of TXB2, 6-keto-PGF1α, IL-6 and TNF-α were measured by ELISA, the pathological changes and micro vessel density (MVD) of the endometrium were evaluated using HE and immunofluorescence staining, and the expression of VEGF, MMP-2/9 and TGF-β were assessed by Western blotting. Preliminary phytochemicals were screened and identified by UPLC-Q-TOF-MS. RESULTS Eleven compounds in C. chinense were identified via comparison to standard substances. The results of animal experiment showed TEC could reduce metrorrhagia volume, alleviate pathological injury and increase MVD to promote recovery of the endometrium; TEC could also increase the levels of TXB2 and the expression of VEGF, TGF-β, decrease the levels of IL-6, TNF-α and the expression of MMP-2/9. CONCLUSIONS TEC showed beneficial effects on treating AUB by reducing metrorrhagia volume, inhibiting the inflammatory response and promoting the repair of the endometrium. Additionally, TEC also showed great haemostatic potential in AUB.
BACKGROUND Brain iron deficiency (BID), especially for the substantia nigra (SN), without peripheral iron deficiency (ID) has been well documented as a ubiquitous finding for restless legs syndrome (RLS) patients. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/indy.html This close association suggests the biology of RLS BID can produce RLS symptoms. Association, however, cannot establish such a direct relationship. Instead, the BID of RLS could be experimentally produced to determine if it then produces significant RLS-like biological or behavioral features. Forward genetics approach led to identification from the BXD strains the BXD40 females (BXD40f) as a putative animal model for the RLS BID. The BXD40f on an iron-sufficient diet have a lower iron in the VMB (containing the SN) during the active but not inactive period. This was not found for the other BXD strains evaluated. The BXD40f on an ID diet uniquely have even greater reduced VMB but not peripheral iron, matching the RLS BID pathophysiology. A prior report found that the BXD40f on an iron-sufficient dietroduced earlier onset of the RLS-like behavior matching the earlier onset of symptoms with increasing severity of RLS. The dopaminergic treatments significantly reduced the RLS-like behavior. Added analyses of the RLS-like behaviors as decreased resting times showed similar results to activity increases. OBJECTIVES To compare the results of secondary alveoloplasty performed in one Hospital when osteosynthesis material was used and when the bone graft does not require this material, and relating them to factors such as gender and age. MATERIAL AND METHODS A retrospective study was conducted from the years 2014 to 2019 in this Hospital on the selected patients who met the inclusion criteria. Two periods of ages, period A ages between 5-12 years (mixed secondary alveoloplasty) and period B greater than 12 years (late secondary alveoloplasty). Autologous bone from the iliac crest or parietal calotte was used for the bone graft. The patients were divided into 2 groups group I patients with alveoloplasties that required osteosynthesis material. Group II patients who did not require osteosynthesis material. Parameters evaluated the success criteria for alveoloplasty were assessed according to the clinical parameters described by Precious. Alveoloplasty was successful if they met all the criteria of Precious in the year of intervention. Postoperative complications in both groups were evaluated. The statistical analysis was performed using the exact Fisher test for qualitative variables. RESULTS Alveoloplasty was successful in 89.4% of patients in group I, while it was 90.3% in group II. Alveoloplasty was successful in 87.5% of females compared to 91.17% of males. The intervention was a success in 91.48% of patients in group A, compared to 66.6% in group B. The osteosynthesis material in two patients of group I was not degraded in the annual assessment. There were no significant differences in any of the comparisons. CONCLUSIONS The use of osteosynthesis material does not alter the integration of the bone graft in patients that undergo alveoloplasty. Factors such as gender or age do not influence the results of the interventions. L.U.INTRODUCTION Eosinophilic oesophagitis (EoE) affects the quality of life (QoL) of the patients and their families. Specific quality of life questionnaires help to evaluate the QoL for this particular disease, as well as to make diagnostic or therapeutic changes in order to improve it. OBJECTIVE To make a transcultural adaptation of the original English version of the Pediatric Eosinophilic Esophagitis Quality of Life Module (Peds QL EoE Module) into the Spanish language. METHODS The PedsQL EoE Module questionnaire consists of 3 versions for parents and children from 5-7, 8-12, and 13-18 years, and one for parents of children from 2-4 years. It follows the international consensus methodology, consisting of performing independent translations of the original English version to Spanish, a consensus Spanish version, a back-translation into English, preliminary final version, as well as a cognitive interview with 5 parents and children of each age group in order to evaluate the comprehension of the questionnaire, and once the difficulties found are resolved, the final version. RESULTS In the cognitive interview, 15 children and 20 parents responded to all the questions. The time taken to complete the questionnaire seemed adequate to them, and the comprehension test was easy. The 5 to 7 years children group took the longest in responding and that had more difficulty in understanding it. The overall satisfaction was high, and the questionnaire seemed to be a useful tool for them. CONCLUSIONS After it validation, the transcultural adaptation to Spanish of the Peds QL EoE Module questionnaire can be applied in order to study the QoL of Spanish children with EoE. METHODS An abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) model was induced via oral administration of mifepristone and misoprostol to pregnant rats, which were treated with the total extract of C. chinense (TEC). After 7 days, the metrorrhagia volume was measured, the levels of TXB2, 6-keto-PGF1α, IL-6 and TNF-α were measured by ELISA, the pathological changes and micro vessel density (MVD) of the endometrium were evaluated using HE and immunofluorescence staining, and the expression of VEGF, MMP-2/9 and TGF-β were assessed by Western blotting. Preliminary phytochemicals were screened and identified by UPLC-Q-TOF-MS. RESULTS Eleven compounds in C. chinense were identified via comparison to standard substances. In recent years, an increasing incidence of laser pointer-associated retinal injuries has been observed, likely due to easy access to incorrectly classified laser pointers, their labelling as toys, and lack of awareness concerning the associated risk. Laser pointer exposure can lead to irreversible retinal damage and associated vision loss, depending on the wavelength, radiation power, duration of exposure, localization, and spot size. Pronounced retinal laser damage is especially seen in children and teenagers. The structural appearance of retinal laser pointer damage varies and, in some cases, may be a diagnostic challenge. Besides often subtle findings on optical coherence tomography examination, characteristic alterations on near-infrared autofluorescence imaging may be valuable for the diagnosis of retinal laser pointer injuries and for differentiating other retinal lesions with similar appearance. The increase in laser pointer injuries indicates that regulatory actions and increased public awareness are required regarding the dangers of laser pointers.Childhood uveitis is an ophthalmological challenge, since on the one hand it often remains asymptomatic and difficult to detect, and on the other hand it often has a chronic course and is associated with a high risk of complications threatening the vision. In particular in this review shutter glasses, therapy monitoring and analysis using microsensors and newer video programs for amblyopia therapy are presented and critically discussed. Currently, these cannot yet replace classic amblyopia therapy. They represent interesting options that will occupy us even more in the future.The contingent of VATS (video assistend thoracic surgery) lobectomies will continue to increase in the time to come. Thoracic surgery departments that do not integrate this procedure into their routine spectrum will have to justify themselves to referrers and clinic administrations and will have problems with the recruitment of training assistants as well. The advantages of minimally invasive lobectomy are impressive and the long-term oncological results are equivalent to open lobectomy. VATS lobectomies in non-intubated patients will increase significantly in the next few years and further reduce the invasiveness of the operation. The number of clinics that offer RATS (roboter assistend thoracic surgery) lobectomies will also increase as more companies bring robot systems onto the market, making them significantly cheaper. Better screening programs for risk patients for lung cancer, rapid advances in thoracic oncology and further minimization of surgical trauma in lung resections will significantly improve the overall therapy and prognosis for lung cancer patients in the years to come.Data on surgical lung cancer cases were extracted from the German Federal Statistics on Diagnosis-related groups (DRG) and a possible association between hospital volume and surgical mortality was explored. All treatment cases documented between 2005 and 2015 with the main diagnosis of lung cancer (International Classification of Disease code C34) and the German Operations and Procedure Key (OPS) codes 5-323 to 5-328 for anatomical lung resections were analysed. The treatment cases were assigned to hospital groups, defined according to the number of procedures performed per year. The total number of anatomical lung resections for the diagnosis of lung cancer increased by 24 % from 9376 resections in 2005 to 11,614 resections in 2015. In 2015, 57 % of anatomical lung resections in patients with lung cancer were performed in 47 high volume centres (hospitals with ≥ 75 resections/year); the remaining 43 % of the resections were distributed among 271 hospitals performing fewer than 75 resections per year. In hospitals performing fewer than 25 procedures/year, hospital mortality was almost twice as high as in large centres with ≥ 75 resections per year (5.7 vs. 3.0 %, mean value 2005 to 2015). In summary, our data indicate that a small number of high-volume hospitals perform the major part of lung resections of lung cancer in Germany with better survival as compared to low-volume hospitals. Based on current nationwide data a clear association between hospital volume and surgical mortality could be demonstrated.
