Clinically, it is characterized by a variety of neurological and psychiatric symptoms, predominantly affecting young women. Recurrent anti-NMDAR cases combined with double-antibody positive during pregnancy have not been reported. We report a 19-year-old pregnant woman with recurrent anti-NMDAR encephalitis and double-antibody positive. Through our case report and a review of the literature, we hope to heighten an awareness of anti-NMDAR encephalitis, particularly in a pregnant setting.Serratiopeptidase is a proteolytic enzyme extensively used as an anti-inflammatory and analgesic drug. Present work reports a thermoactive serratiopeptidase from Serratia marcescens AD-W2, a soil isolate from the North-Western Himalayan region of India. The extracellular metalloprotease has been purified by a simple two-step procedure resulting in a specific activity of 20,492 Units/mg protein with 5.28-fold purification. The molecular mass of the metalloprotease, as determined by SDS-PAGE was ~ 51 kDa. The purified serratiopeptidase presented optimum activity at pH 9.0, temperature 50 °C and stability in wide pH and temperature range. Critical temperature of 50 °C confirmed the thermoactivity of the purified serratiopeptidase. The kinetic studies of the purified serratiopeptidase revealed Vmax and Km of 57,256 Units/mL and 1.57 mg/mL, respectively, for casein. The purified serratiopeptidase from S. marcescens AD-W2 was found to be 100% identical to serralysin from Serratia marcescens ATCC 21074/E-15. The catalytic domain comprising of Zn coordinated with three histidine residues (His192, His196, His202), along with glutamate (Glu193) and tyrosine (Tyr232) residues, further confirmed that the purified protein is identical to serralysin.
Due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic classroom teaching was largely discontinued at all German medical faculties in the summer semester (SS) 2020. This also affected undergraduate education in palliative care, which is established with an average of 22 teaching units. Teachers were asked to rapidly develop digital teaching and assessment tools.
The aim of this survey was to map the teaching situation in QB13 palliative medicine in SS 2020 under the influence of COVID-19 and from this to derive the need for networking and support for the coming semesters.
The key persons involved in palliative care education in all 41medical faculties in Germany were identified and invited by the coordination office of the German Society for Palliative Medicine (DGP) to participate in an online survey using SurveyMonkey®. The questionnaire consisted of 15items dealing with the evaluation of the past semester and the need for support for the coming semester.
Out of 41 contacted teachers 16 participated in the survey. Most of them described the challenge of teaching in SS 2020 as successful. Support from the faculties was provided primarily in the form of digital teaching structures. Adigital teaching design is also planned for the coming semester. Power point slides with sound and the conference tool Zoom® are often used.
The design of examinations in SS 2020 is rated worse in the self-evaluation than the teaching design. Multiple choice questions were often used in classroom examinations. Lecturers would like the DGP to create and collect teaching and assessment materials centrally.

There were no significant associations with age, disease subtype, presence of constitutional symptoms, Ann Arbor disease stage, presence of advanced disease or international prognostic score. Patients with lower PMI had significantly worse PFS (hazard ratio [HR] 4.91; P = 0.009). This phenomenon persisted in the multivariate model (HR = 5.09; P = 0.042) adjusted for International Prognostic Score (IPS) and chemotherapy type.
This study determined to what extent the underpinning of physiotherapeutic interventions with the evidence-based motivational psychological concept of the self-determination theory (SDT) by Ryan and Deci can increase motivation and enjoyment of movement in obese adolescents.
In this study 12 obese adolescents aged 14-18years were offered atargeted group-specific sports program including ahome exercise program of 8 weeks. The group leaders were trained in the SDT and supported to integrate motivational aspects. ASDT-based questionnaire by Kohake and Lehnert was used to evaluate motivational interventions.
In total, seven (58%) patients finished the study. In the before-after comparison there were little changes in motivation. Results showed that contrary to expectations the motivation of the obese adolescents to move and to participate in the study was generally high. In the study, more internalized forms of motivation dominated, the highest quality form of motivation.
Digital technologies could be asuccessful way to further increase motivation and compliance of our target group.

The degradation of diPAPs brings perfluoroalkyl carboxylic acids (PFCAs) concerned of adverse health effects. DiPAPs mainly occur in particulate matter in ambient air and their photo-degradation behaviors have not been investigated. In this study, heterogeneous photo-degradation of 62 diPAP was studied on four model mineral components in ambient dust. 62 diPAP was found to undergo a fast degradation on titanium dioxide (TiO2) particles as well as on artificial mineral dust containing TiO2 (2.67% in mass) to produce C5-C7 PFCAs and other intermediates. Based on monitored intermediates and further degradation tests on important intermediates, thermodynamic calculation of energy barrier and Gibbs Free Energy was used to explain the observed degradation patterns and accordingly the degradation pathways of diPAPs were proposed. The increase in relative humidity promotes the production of hydroxyl radicals, which enhances the hydrolysis of 62 mono- and di-PAPs and the yield of C5 and C7 PFCAs. In this study, heterogeneous photo-degradation of 62 diPAP was studied on four model mineral components in ambient dust. 62 diPAP was found to undergo a fast degradation on titanium dioxide (TiO2) particles as well as on artificial mineral dust containing TiO2 (2.67% in mass) to produce C5-C7 PFCAs and other intermediates. Based on monitored intermediates and further degradation tests on important intermediates, thermodynamic calculation of energy barrier and Gibbs Free Energy was used to explain the observed degradation patterns and accordingly the degradation pathways of diPAPs were proposed. The increase in relative humidity promotes the production of hydroxyl radicals, which enhances the hydrolysis of 62 mono- and di-PAPs and the yield of C5 and C7 PFCAs. Unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) is an established treatment option for patients with unicompartmental osteoarthritis (OA). However, strict patient selection is crucial for its success. The proposed advantages include nearly natural knee kinematics, faster rehabilitation and better functional outcomes. Despite the aforementioned facts and it's proven cost-effectiveness, there are still hesitations for the use of UKA as an alternative to total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Key objectives of this study were therefore to assess clinical and patient-reported outcome (PRO) as well as patient's satisfaction after medial UKA in comparison to TKA.
To assess the outcome after UKA we conducted a prospective multi-center study. 116 patients with unicompartmental OA and indication for UKA were included. Overall 54 females and 62 males with an average age of 62.7 years (±9.8) and an average body mass index (BMI) of 29.2 (± 3.7) were recruited. Clinical results and PRO were assessed using the Knee Society Score (KSSpatients (UKA vs TKA 9.0 vs 8.8, p = 0.019).
Patients of both cohorts showed high satisfaction after knee arthroplasty. UKA resulted in higher function scores compared to TKA without increased revision rate during short-term follow-up. Therefore, UKA is a good treatment option for unicompartmental OA.

Postoperative rectourethral fistula (RUF) in patients with congenital anorectal malformation (ARM) remains a challenge for paediatric surgeons, among them persistent fistula is the most common. Various techniques have been proposed, only a few reports based on different causes are available, and there is no consensus so far. This study is to evaluate the application, advantages and limitations of transanal fistulectomy approach in repairing persistent RUF in ARM patients.
From January 2007 to July 2019, 78 ARM patients who received revisional surgery for RUF were reviewed, 34 persistent fistulas were identified. Examination under anaesthesia included patients with fistulas that were located within 3cm from the anus verge, good appearance of the anus and sphincter function, and no urethral and rectoanal obstruction. Three patients were excluded because of complex urologic pathologic defects. In total, thirty-one patients underwent transanal fistulectomy to repair RUF.
All cases were approached with transanal incision and fistulectomy to repair RUF. The average operative time was 91 ± 35min. At a minimum six-month follow-up, 29 patients healed after the first attempt, the success closure rate was 93.5%. Two patients received redo transanal fistulectomy and healed. Two patients had postoperative complications one patient had urethral stenosis and it was managed by dilation; one patient had urethral diverticulum but it did not require revisional surgery. No patient in this study was incontinent because of the surgery.
Transanal fistulectomy provides a simple, straightforward, and safe approach to repair persistent RUF in ARM patients, especially in those with a low-lying fistula, good anus appearance and sphincter function without obstruction in the rectum or urethra.

Two ipsilateral hemivertebrae is less common and presents severe growth imbalance caused by the vertebral anomalies. However, there is a paucity of reports regarding to two ipsilateral thoracolumbar hemivertebrae. The purpose of present study is to evaluate the long-term outcomes of the posterior surgical correction of thoraco-lumbar spine deformity caused by two ipsilateral hemivertebrae.
From 2006 to 2014, a total of 14 consecutive pediatric patients with congenital thoraco-lumbar hemivertebrae were treated by posterior excision of hemivertebrae with short segment fusion. The following parameters were measured coronal major curvature, cranial and caudal compensatory curvature, segmental kyphosis, lumbar lordosis, trunk shift, apical vertebra translation and sagittal vertical axis. These results were compared and evaluated in preoperatively, immediately postoperatively and at the final follow-up. All patients had a minimum of 5 years follow-up.
The mean age at surgery was 11.1 ± 4.8 years (2yos to 17yosilateral hemivertebra. The complication of neurological injury is low but a technically demanding procedure. More attention should be paid in residual curve progression after surgery.

We therefore examined whether there is an interaction between inflammation-related genes and mold exposure on childhood asthma.

The piezoelectric polymer PVDF and its copolymers have a long history as transducer materials for medical and biological applications. An efficient use of these polymers can potentially both lower the production cost and offer an environment-friendly alternative for medical transducers which today is dominated by piezoelectric ceramics containing lead. The main goal of the current work has been to compare the image quality of a low-cost in-house transducers made from the copolymer P(VDF-TrFE) to a commercial PVDF transducer. Several test objects were explored with the transducers used in a scanning acoustic microscope, including a human articular cartilage sample, a coin surface, and an etched metal film with fine line structures. To evaluate the image quality, C- and B-scan images were obtained from the recorded time series, and compared in terms of resolution, SNR, point-spread function, and depth imaging capability. The investigation is believed to provide useful information about both the strengths and limitations of low-cost polymer transducers.The depolymerization process of PET by glycolysis into BHET monomer is optimized in terms of reaction temperature and time, by carrying out the process under pressure to be faster for reducing the energy required. A group of resistance-trained eumenorrheic women (n = 9) were tested in three phases over the menstrual cycle bleeding phase, follicular phase, and luteal phase (i.e., days 1-3, 7-10, and 19-21 of the cycle, respectively). Each testing phase consisted of a battery of jumping tests (i.e., squat jump [SJ], countermovement jump [CMJ], drop jump from a 30 cm box [DJ30], and the reactive strength index) and 30 m sprint running test. Two different applications for smartphone (My Jump 2 and My Sprint) were used to record the jumping and sprinting trials, respectively, at high speed (240 fps). The repeated measures ANOVA reported no significant differences (p ≥ 0.05, ES less then 0.25) in CMJ, DJ30, reactive strength index and sprint times between the different phases of the menstrual cycle. A greater SJ height performance was observed during the follicular phase compared to the bleeding phase (p = 0.033, ES = -0.22). No differences (p ≥ 0.05, ES less then 0.45) were found in the CMJ and sprint force-velocity profile over the different phases of the menstrual cycle. By deducing the relationship between the amplitude-frequency, the phase-frequency of the MEMS gyroscope, and the phase relationship of the whole control loop, a real-time correction system was proposed to automatically adjust the phase reference value of the phase-locked loop (PLL) and thus compensate for the real-time circuit phase delay. The experimental results showed that the correction system can accurately measure and compensate the circuit phase delay in real time. Furthermore, the unwanted IQ coupling can be eliminated and the ZRO was decreased by 755% to 0.095°/s. This correction system realized a small angle random walk of 0.978°/√h and a low bias instability of 9.458°/h together with a scale factor nonlinearity of 255 ppm at room temperature. The piezoelectric polymer PVDF and its copolymers have a long history as transducer materials for medical and biological applications. An efficient use of these polymers can potentially both lower the production cost and offer an environment-friendly alternative for medical transducers which today is dominated by piezoelectric ceramics containing lead. The main goal of the current work has been to compare the image quality of a low-cost in-house transducers made from the copolymer P(VDF-TrFE) to a commercial PVDF transducer. Several test objects were explored with the transducers used in a scanning acoustic microscope, including a human articular cartilage sample, a coin surface, and an etched metal film with fine line structures. To evaluate the image quality, C- and B-scan images were obtained from the recorded time series, and compared in terms of resolution, SNR, point-spread function, and depth imaging capability. The investigation is believed to provide useful information about both the strengths and limitations of low-cost polymer transducers.The depolymerization process of PET by glycolysis into BHET monomer is optimized in terms of reaction temperature and time, by carrying out the process under pressure to be faster for reducing the energy required. A group of resistance-trained eumenorrheic women (n = 9) were tested in three phases over the menstrual cycle bleeding phase, follicular phase, and luteal phase (i.e., days 1-3, 7-10, and 19-21 of the cycle, respectively). Each testing phase consisted of a battery of jumping tests (i.e., squat jump [SJ], countermovement jump [CMJ], drop jump from a 30 cm box [DJ30], and the reactive strength index) and 30 m sprint running test. Two different applications for smartphone (My Jump 2 and My Sprint) were used to record the jumping and sprinting trials, respectively, at high speed (240 fps). The repeated measures ANOVA reported no significant differences (p ≥ 0.05, ES less then 0.25) in CMJ, DJ30, reactive strength index and sprint times between the different phases of the menstrual cycle. A greater SJ height performance was observed during the follicular phase compared to the bleeding phase (p = 0.033, ES = -0.22). No differences (p ≥ 0.05, ES less then 0.45) were found in the CMJ and sprint force-velocity profile over the different phases of the menstrual cycle. Trauma-induced hemorrhage is a leading cause of disability and death due, in part, to impaired perfusion and oxygenation of the brain. It is unknown if cerebrovascular responses to blood loss are differentiated based on sex. We hypothesized that compared to males, females would have reduced tolerance to simulated hemorrhage induced by maximal lower body negative pressure (LBNP), and this would be associated with an earlier reduction in cerebral blood flow and cerebral oxygenation. Healthy young males (n = 29, 26 ± 4 yr) and females (n = 23, 27 ± 5 yr) completed a step-wise LBNP protocol to presyncope. Mean arterial pressure (MAP), stroke volume (SV), middle cerebral artery velocity (MCAv), end-tidal CO2 (etCO2), and cerebral oxygen saturation (ScO2) were measured continuously. Unexpectedly, tolerance to LBNP was similar between the sexes (males, 1,604 ± 68 s vs. females, 1,453 ± 78 s; P = 0.15). Microbial analysis detected no bacterial genera that are known to induce thelytokous parthenogenesis in Hymenoptera. Finally, the lack of variation in partial sequences of mitochondrial DNA among individuals sampled from across Japan suggests recent rapid spread or selective sweep. M. triviale would be a promising model system of superorganism-like adaptation through comparative analysis with well-studied sexual congeners, including the pharaoh ant M. pharaonis.
The aim of the study was to evaluate left ventricular (LV) remodeling and systolic function using two-dimensional speckle tracking echocardiographic (2D STE) imaging in children at a long-term (more than 36 months, 107.5±57.8 months) after balloon valvuloplasty for aortic stenosis (BAV).
40 patients (mean age 9,68 years, 75% male) after BAV and 62 control subjects matched to the age and heart rate were prospectively evaluated. The 2D STE assessment of LV longitudinal and circumferential strain and strain rate was performed. Left ventricular eccentric hypertrophy (LVEH) was diagnosed in 75% of patients in the study group. Left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) was normal in all patients. In study group, global longitudinal strain (GLS), global longitudinal strain rate (GLSr) were significantly lower compared with the controls GLS (-19.7±2.22% vs. -22.3±1.5%, P< 0.001), GLSr (-0.89±0.15/s vs. -1.04 ±0.12/s, P < 0.001). Regional (basal, middle and apical segments) strain and strain rate were also log-term observation after BAV present the subclinical LV systolic impairment, which is associated with the presence of its remodeling. First, we show that **** are genetically differentiated between transects, indicating that they have independently colonized similar environments in eastern and western North America. Next, we find genetically-based differences in body weight and nest building behavior between **** from the ends of the western transect which mirror differences seen in the eastern transect, demonstrating parallel phenotypic change. We then conduct genome-wide scans for selection and a genome-wide association study to identify targets of selection and candidate genes for body weight. We find some genomic signatures that are unique to each transect, indicating population-specific responses to selection. However, there is significant overlap between genes under selection in eastern and western house mouse transects, providing evidence of parallel genetic evolution in response to similar selection pressures across North America.

The data of this study were obtained from Ethiopian Demographic and health survey conducted from January to June 2016. A total 1,087 children aged 0-5 months were selected using two stage stratified sampling technique. Multilevel logistic regression analysis was done to identify significant explanatory variables. Akaike information criteria were used to select the best model fit. Fixed effect was done to estimate the association between the outcome and explanatory variable and also random effect to measure the vari factors that enhance optimal breastfeeding.This paper investigates economic impacts of COVID-19 on households based on differences in the socio-economic status (SES). We determine the household-level effects of the COVID-19 shock using income sources, types of industries, communities' resilience, household susceptibility, and relevant policy measures. For this purpose, we used primary data of 555 households collected through snowball sampling technique using an online survey questionnaire from different villages mostly located in Sichuan Province, China. Using step-wise binary logistic regression analysis, we estimated and validated the model. Results suggest the use of SES as a better measure for understanding the impacts of COVID-19 on different households. We find that households with low SES tend to depend more on farmland income and transfer payments from the government. Contrarily, high SES households focus more on business and local employment as sources of income generation. Poor households were less resilient and more likely to fall **** into poverty due to COVID-19, while the opposite stands true for non-poor households with high SES.

First, we show that mice are genetically differentiated between transects, indicating that they have independently colonized similar environments in eastern and western North America. Next, we find genetically-based differences in body weight and nest building behavior between mice from the ends of the western transect which mirror differences seen in the eastern transect, demonstrating parallel phenotypic change. We then conduct genome-wide scans for selection and a genome-wide association study to identify targets of selection and candidate genes for body weight. We find some genomic signatures that are unique to each transect, indicating population-specific responses to selection. In this observational, retrospective, multicenter study, we aimed to assess the safety of the combination of local metastasis-directed radiotherapy (RT) and immunotherapy (IT) in a cohort of advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (aNSCLC) patients.
We collected clinical data of aNSCLC patients who received concomitant RT and anti-PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors in seven Italian centers from September 2015 to June 2019. Concomitant RT was defined as delivered ≤4 weeks before or after the first or last administration of immunotherapy, or within two consecutive cycles of ICI. All adverse events apparently related to RT and/or IT were graded according to the Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events, version 4.0, and reported in terms of incidence and severity as immune related or RT related, or combined.
We analyzed the clinical charts of 187 patients. Median follow-up time was 23 months, and median overall survival was 16.5 months (range, 3-162). Thirteen patients developed pure RT-related side effects, and 43 patients (23.9%) developed immune-related side effects. No additive toxic effects were observed. A case of grade 5 pulmonary toxicity was recorded as a possible consequence of a combined effect.

We present a 41-year old man with a right frontal enhancing hemorrhagic lesion. Surgery was performed with histopathological findings suggesting a primary central nervous system angiosarcoma. He was discharged uneventfully and received adjuvant chemotherapy and radiotherapy. At 5 months, the follow-up MRI showed two lesions with an acute subdural hematoma, suggesting a relapse. Surgery was again conducted finding tumoral membranes attached to the internal layer of the duramater around the right hemisphere. The patient died a few days later due to the recurrence of the subdural hematoma. This case report illustrates a rare and lethal complication of an unusual tumor. The literature reviewed shows that gross-total resection with adjuvant radiotherapy seems to be the best treatment of choice.
Although there is evidence that interpersonal trauma is associated with cardiometabolic risk in women, previous studies have not assessed the potential role of revictimization (victimization in both childhood and adulthood) among sexual minority women.
We used data from the Chicago Health and Life Experiences of Women study to examine the associations of revictimization (including physical, sexual, and any revictimization) with self-reported psychosocial factors, health behaviors, and cardiometabolic risk factors (e.g., obesity, hypertension, and diabetes). We tested multiple logistic regression models, adjusted for covariates, to estimate odds ratios of the associations between revictimization and cardiometabolic risk.
The sample included 615 sexual minority women with a mean age of 40.0years; 38.7% White. Eighty-three (13.5%) and 101 (16.4%) participants reported experiencing sexual revictimization and physical revictimization, respectively. Each form of revictimization was associated with higher odds of reporting lifetime depression and recent binge eating, but lower odds of having high social support.

Data on the outcomes of noninfluenza respiratory virus (NIRV) infections among hospitalized adults are lacking. We aimed to study the burden, severity and outcomes of NIRV infections in this population.
We analyzed pooled patient data from 2 hospital-based respiratory virus surveillance cohorts in 2 regions of Canada during 3 consecutive seasons (2015/16, 2016/17, 2017/18;
= 2119). We included patients aged ≥ 18 years who developed influenza-like illness or pneumonia and were hospitalized for management. We included patients confirmed positive for ≥ 1 virus by multiplex polymerase chain reaction assays (respiratory syncytial virus [RSV], human rhinovirus/enterovirus (hRV), human coronavirus (hCoV), metapneumovirus, parainfluenza virus, adenovirus, influenza viruses). We compared patient characteristics, clinical severity conventional outcomes (e.g., hospital length-of stay, 30-day mortality) and ordinal outcomes (5 levels discharged, receiving convalescent care, acute ward or intensive care unit [ICU] IRV infection is substantial in adults admitted to hospital and associated outcomes may be as severe as for influenza, suggesting a need to prioritize therapeutics and vaccines for at-risk people.

After quantitative real-time reverse transcription PCR (qRT-PCR) analysis, a downregulation of rpoB from M_R strains was observed, suggesting a relationship of rpoB to metronidazole sensitivity. After quantitative real-time reverse transcription PCR (qRT-PCR) analysis, a downregulation of rpoB from M_R strains was observed, suggesting a relationship of rpoB to metronidazole sensitivity. Inversely, an upregulation of fba from C_R, M_R, and C/M_R strains was noticed, suggesting the paradoxical expression of FBPAII and the fba gene.
