The poly(O-thiocarbamate)s possess a high refractive index above 1.7 from 600 to 1700 nm by adjusting the sulfur content. By incorporating tetraphenylethene (TPE) moieties into the polymer structure, the poly(O-thiocarbamate)s can also be designed as fluorescent sensors to detect harmful metal cation of Hg2+ in a turn-on mode with high sensitivity (LOD = 32 nM) and excellent selectivity (over interference cations of Pb2+, Au3+, Ag+).   • Most surgical treatment options for metastatic acetabular lesions involve variants of total hip arthroplasty (THA). However, these are technically complex reconstructions performed in very frail patients, and previous reports indicate complications such as dislocation, deep infection, aseptic loosening, and intraoperative death. A 73-year-old man presented to the emergency department at our hospital with right hip pain following a fall. He had undergone nephrectomy for the treatment of right kidney cancer at the age of 68 years. Four years after the nephrectomy, multiple lung metastases, pelvic bone metastases, and right femoral head and neck bone metastases were found. A radiograph of the hip joint showed a pathological proximal femoral fracture with a radiolucent lesion of the acetabulum. THA with acetabular reconstruction using a Kerboull-type (KT) plate through the direct anterior approach (DAA) was performed. After removal of the femoral head, curettage of the metastatic acetabular dome lesion was carefully performed under fluoroscopic guidance. After the KT plate was placed, cementation of the metastatic acetabular dome lesion was performed, and an optimally sized polyethylene liner was fixed with cement. A cemented stem was inserted after confirming the hip joint stability. At the 14-month follow-up, he could walk steadily without any complications and his modified Harris hip score was 100. The DAA conserves soft tissue because it is an intermuscular approach. A four and six year old child had similar histories of uprooting of tombstones during play, toppling them and causing injury. Treatment included non-operative and operative approaches, with both patients yielding bony union at the three month follow up.

    We present the involvement of tombstones as a unique mechanism of injury for femoral shaft fractures in two pediatric cases. From our review of the literature, we believe this to be a first report. We hope to highlight the associated safety implications for the primary prevention of a similar traumatic injury.

Surgical repair is debated, and several methods have been described including a variety of synthetic and biological materials. We report a case of a 36-year-old woman who developed lung hernia and a strong retraction of the pectoralis major muscle after minithoracotomy that was performed for mitral valve surgery. The herniated lung was reduced and the chest wall defect was repaired with a non-cross linked acellular dermal matrix (ADM) anchored to the thoracic wall. At a 6-year follow-up, she was asymptomatic and without recurrence of the hernia. Our experience suggests that ADMs are a safe and reliable surgical technique for lung hernia repair due to their biological and mechanical properties, even in those secondary hernias to minithoracotomy where a complete muscle coverage of the matrix could not be provided.Ovarian sarcomas account for 1% of all ovarian malignancies and amongst these, primary ovarian leiomyosarcoma is the rarest subtype. Primary ovarian leiomyosarcoma has a very poor prognosis, with less than 20% of patients being alive at 5 years. Only a few cases have been published in the literature and there is very limited knowledge on the clinical behaviour and optimal management of these tumours. We have performed a retrospective analysis of a prospectively maintained database to identify all primary ovarian leiomyosarcoma diagnosed and treated at the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust between 1998 and 2020. Sixteen patients were identified from our database and fifteen were eligible for the analysis. Twelve patients presented with localized disease and underwent initial surgery and three patients had metastatic disease at presentation. Recurrence-free survival post-surgery was 16 months. Eight patients received first-line chemotherapy and four patients received second-line chemotherapy. Two patients had indolent metastatic disease and benefited from local therapies only.

  • Computer-supported collaborative learning (CSCL) has a history of being interdisciplinary from its conception. Its beginnings have included computer scientists, psychologists, cognitive scientists, and educational researchers. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/cmc-na.html These collaborations have been fruitful but have also posed challenges (Suthers et al., 2013). This article builds on the authors' extensive review of the CSCL literature to examine the nature of interdisciplinary collaboration in CSCL research as well as an interdisciplinary CSCL workshop. Using a corpus of more than 700 CSCL articles, we reported an updated analysis for the theories and methods used in CSCL research. In addition, bibliometric analyses examined journals that publish CSCL research and are cited by CSCL research. CSCL research is published in journals that are aligned with interdisciplinary research with large contributions from educational research followed by technology related fields and social sciences. The contributions from domain knowledge journals are relatively weak. These analyses revealed disciplinary influences and uptakes of CSCL research and how they might differ across CSCL research clusters. Lastly, we provide a case example of a CSCL workshop to further demonstrate the interdisciplinary nature of the field. Through these analyses we aim to characterize the benefits and challenges of interdisciplinary collaboration in CSCL research. Interdisciplinarity has helped CSCL research to adopt multiple theories and methods to understand CSCL. While cultivating diversity, we also need to be mindful that research outcomes are exchanged and appropriated actively across participating disciplines so that our understanding of CSCL rises above individual disciplines.Antisocial behavior and prosocial behavior in the condition of inequality have long been observed in daily life. Understanding the neurological mechanisms and brain regions associated with antisocial and prosocial behavior and the development of new interventions are important for reducing violence and inequality. Fortunately, neurocognitive research and brain imaging research have found a correlation between antisocial or prosocial behavior and the prefrontal cortex. Recent brain stimulation research adopting transcranial direct current stimulation or transcranial magnetic stimulation has shown a causal relationship between brain regions and behaviors, but the findings are mixed. In the present study, we aimed to study whether stimulation of the DLPFC can change participants' antisocial and prosocial behavior in the condition of inequality. We integrated antisocial and prosocial behavior in a unified paradigm. Based on this paradigm, we discussed costly and cost-free antisocial and prosocial behavior. In addition, we also measured participants' disadvantageous and advantageous inequality aversion. The current study revealed an asymmetric effect of bilateral stimulation over the DLPFC on costly antisocial behavior, while such an effect of antisocial behavior without cost and prosocial behavior with and without cost were not observed. Moreover, costly antisocial behavior exhibited by men increased after receiving right anodal/left cathodal stimulation and decreased after receiving right cathodal anodal/left anodal stimulation compared with the behavior observed under sham stimulation. In this article, we proceed with an investigation that would have been precluded by the assumption of a 11 correspondence between facial expressions and discrete emotional experiences. We investigated two expressions that in the normative sense are considered negative expressions. One expression, "anger" could be described as clenched fists, furrowed brows, tense jaws and lips, the showing of teeth, and flared nostrils, and the other "sadness" could be described as downward turned mouths, tears, drooping eyes, and wrinkled foreheads. Here, we investigated the prevalence, understanding, and use of these expressions in both positive and negative contexts in South Korea and the United States.     Computer-supported collaborative learning (CSCL) has a history of being interdisciplinary from its conception. Its beginnings have included computer scientists, psychologists, cognitive scientists, and educational researchers. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/cmc-na.html These collaborations have been fruitful but have also posed challenges (Suthers et al., 2013). This article builds on the authors' extensive review of the CSCL literature to examine the nature of interdisciplinary collaboration in CSCL research as well as an interdisciplinary CSCL workshop. Using a corpus of more than 700 CSCL articles, we reported an updated analysis for the theories and methods used in CSCL research. In addition, bibliometric analyses examined journals that publish CSCL research and are cited by CSCL research. CSCL research is published in journals that are aligned with interdisciplinary research with large contributions from educational research followed by technology related fields and social sciences. The contributions from domain knowledge journals are relatively weak. These analyses revealed disciplinary influences and uptakes of CSCL research and how they might differ across CSCL research clusters. Lastly, we provide a case example of a CSCL workshop to further demonstrate the interdisciplinary nature of the field. Through these analyses we aim to characterize the benefits and challenges of interdisciplinary collaboration in CSCL research. Interdisciplinarity has helped CSCL research to adopt multiple theories and methods to understand CSCL. While cultivating diversity, we also need to be mindful that research outcomes are exchanged and appropriated actively across participating disciplines so that our understanding of CSCL rises above individual disciplines.Antisocial behavior and prosocial behavior in the condition of inequality have long been observed in daily life. Understanding the neurological mechanisms and brain regions associated with antisocial and prosocial behavior and the development of new interventions are important for reducing violence and inequality. Fortunately, neurocognitive research and brain imaging research have found a correlation between antisocial or prosocial behavior and the prefrontal cortex. Recent brain stimulation research adopting transcranial direct current stimulation or transcranial magnetic stimulation has shown a causal relationship between brain regions and behaviors, but the findings are mixed. In the present study, we aimed to study whether stimulation of the DLPFC can change participants' antisocial and prosocial behavior in the condition of inequality. We integrated antisocial and prosocial behavior in a unified paradigm. Based on this paradigm, we discussed costly and cost-free antisocial and prosocial behavior. In addition, we also measured participants' disadvantageous and advantageous inequality aversion. The current study revealed an asymmetric effect of bilateral stimulation over the DLPFC on costly antisocial behavior, while such an effect of antisocial behavior without cost and prosocial behavior with and without cost were not observed. Moreover, costly antisocial behavior exhibited by men increased after receiving right anodal/left cathodal stimulation and decreased after receiving right cathodal anodal/left anodal stimulation compared with the behavior observed under sham stimulation. However, subjects' inequality aversion was not influenced by tDCS.A formidable challenge to the research of non-verbal behavior can be in the assumptions that we sometimes make, and the subsequent questions that arise from those assumptions. In this article, we proceed with an investigation that would have been precluded by the assumption of a 11 correspondence between facial expressions and discrete emotional experiences. To inform public health policy to prevent CRC, we aimed to identify major modifiable lifestyle factors underlying the alarming increase in CRC incidence. We obtained information on CRC statistics from the Korea National Cancer Incidence Database and on the distribution of dietary and lifestyle factors known to modify CRC risk from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. To examine time trends between 2001 and 2013, we calculated annual percent changes of CRC incidence rates and of prevalence of etiologic factors by sex and age. Across all sex and age groups, the most commonly diagnosed cancer was rectal cancer while the most rapidly increasing cancer was distal colon cancer. For the lifestyle factors examined, decreases in exercise were observed across all age groups of both sexes. Yet, obesity and alcoholic drinks appear more relevant CRC contributor to men, smoking to women aged 30-49 years, and processed meat intake to adults aged 30-49 years. The heterogeneous results suggest that dietary and lifestyle target to prevent CRC be tailored by sex and age.Sympatric species must sufficiently differentiate aspects of their ecological niche to alleviate complete interspecific competition and stably coexist within the same area. Specifically, small, diving birds with high wing-loading may have small foraging radii compared with larger or non-diving birds. In the Gulf of St-Lawrence in Canada, we investigated whether and how niche differentiation occurs in four incubating seabird species breeding sympatrically using GPS-tracking and direct field observations of prey items carried by adults to chicks the Atlantic puffin (Fratercula arctica), razorbill (Alca torda), common murre (Uria aalge), and black-legged kittiwake (Rissa tridactyla). Although there was overlap at foraging hotspots, all species differentiated in either diet (prey species, size and number) or foraging range. Whereas puffins and razorbills consumed multiple smaller prey items that were readily available closer to the colony, murres selected larger more diverse prey that were accessible due to their deeper diving capability. Kittiwakes compensated for their surface foraging by having a large foraging range, including foraging largely at a specific distant hotspot. These foraging habitat specialisations may alleviate high interspecific competition allowing for their coexistence, providing insight on multispecies colonial living.Herein, we present simulations of conductive filament formation in resistive random-access memory using a finite element solver. We consider the switching material, which is typically an oxide, as a two-phase material comprising low- and high-resistance phases. The low-resistance phase corresponds to a defective and conducting region with a high anion vacancy concentration, whereas the high-resistance phase corresponds to a non-defective and insulating region with a low anion-vacancy concentration. We adopt a phase variable corresponding to 0 and 1 in the insulating and conducting phases, respectively, and we change the phase variable suitably when new defects are introduced during voltage ramp-up for forming. Initially, some defects are embedded in the switching material. When the applied voltage is ramped up, the phase variable changes from 0 to 1 at locations wherein the electric field exceeds a critical value, which corresponds to the introduction of new defects via vacancy generation. The results showed that the total concentrations of Cu, Zn and Mn were higher than others in fly ash, and most heavy metals were concentrated in fine particles. For Cd, Cr and Pb, the percentages of speciation of F4 and F5 were all over 90%, suggesting the relatively lower leaching toxicity. The leaching percent of all heavy metals was lower than 5% by two diluted HNO3 solutions for fly ash. The potential ecological risks increased with the decrease of particle size of fly ash, and Cd accounted for the main fraction for ecological risk despite of lower concentration in comparison to other measured heavy metals.In this paper, we report about chemically interaction between Pt Subnano-Clusters on Graphene Nano Sheets (GNS). The aim of this research is to clarify the size effect of Pt clusters on Pt 1-7 wt.%/GNS. This research is an experimental laboratory research. GNS was synthesized by using modified Hummer's method and 1-7 wt.% Pt/GNS were prepared with impregnation method. Then, they were analyzed with TG/DTA, XRD, TEM and XPS, respectively. The results show that Pt clusters are well deposited on GNS (TG/DTA and TEM data). Those data also are consistent with XRD data. The weak and broad peaks appear at 2θ = 39°, indicating Pt metal exists on GNS. The state of Pt is confirmed by using XPS. The appearance of Pt 4f. peaks proves that Pt metal is chemical interaction on GNS. The size of Pt clusters may affect the chemically properties of Pt/GNS catalysts.

    This study aimed to screen the entire genome for genetic markers associated with risk for Achilles tendon injury.

    A genome-wide association analysis was performed using data from the Kaiser Permanente Research Board and the UK Biobank. Achilles tendon injury cases were identified based on electronic health records from the Kaiser Permanente Research Board databank and the UK Biobank from individuals of European ancestry. Genome-wide association analyses from both cohorts were tested for Achilles tendon injury using a logistic regression model adjusting for sex, height, weight, and race/ethnicity using allele counts for single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP). Previously identified genes within the literature were also tested for association with Achilles tendon injury.

    There were a total of 12,354 cases of Achilles tendon injury and 483,080 controls within the two combined cohorts, with 67 SNP in three chromosomal loci demonstrating a genome-wide significant association with Achilles tendon injury. The first locus contains a single SNP (rs183364169) near the CDCP1 and TMEM158 genes on chromosome 3. The second locus contains 65 SNP in three independently segregating sets near the MPP7 gene on chromosome 10. The last locus contains a single SNP (rs4454832) near the SOX21 and GPR180 genes on chromosome 13. The current data were used to test 14 candidate genes previously reported to show an association with Achilles tendon injury, but none showed a significant association (all P > 0.05).

    Traditionally, midshaft clavicular fractures in adolescents are treated nonoperatively. In later years, a trend toward operative treatment can be observed. Documentation of the benefit of surgery in this group is scarce. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the long-term patient reported functional outcomes and complications for patients treated operatively and nonoperatively for displaced midshaft clavicular fractures. Using the same outcomes we also compared the operative methods.

    One hundred nine adolescents aged 12 to 18 years sustaining displaced midshaft clavicular fractures in the period 2010 to 2016 were identified in our computerized files. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/iox1.html Sixty-one were treated nonoperatively, 48 operatively (22 plate and 26 intramedullary nail). Their radiographs and patient journals were examined for fracture classification, wound infection, sensory affection, surgery duration, hardware removal, and nonunion (n=109). Long-term function, pain, and satisfaction were measured with Quick Disability of Arm, Shullary nail, and nonoperative treatment. No additional benefit is demonstrated for surgery in our material. Nonoperatively treated patients are more satisfied with the cosmetic results. Little difference is seen between the operative methods in our study. We conclude that surgery should rarely be the choice of treatment for displaced midshaft clavicular fractures in adolescents.

Genome-wide association analyses from both cohorts were tested for Achilles tendon injury using a logistic regression model adjusting for sex, height, weight, and race/ethnicity using allele counts for single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP). Previously identified genes within the literature were also tested for association with Achilles tendon injury. There were a total of 12,354 cases of Achilles tendon injury and 483,080 controls within the two combined cohorts, with 67 SNP in three chromosomal loci demonstrating a genome-wide significant association with Achilles tendon injury. The first locus contains a single SNP (rs183364169) near the CDCP1 and TMEM158 genes on chromosome 3. The second locus contains 65 SNP in three independently segregating sets near the MPP7 gene on chromosome 10. The last locus contains a single SNP (rs4454832) near the SOX21 and GPR180 genes on chromosome 13. The current data were used to test 14 candidate genes previously reported to show an association with Achilles tendon injury, but none showed a significant association (all P > 0.05). Traditionally, midshaft clavicular fractures in adolescents are treated nonoperatively. In later years, a trend toward operative treatment can be observed. Documentation of the benefit of surgery in this group is scarce. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the long-term patient reported functional outcomes and complications for patients treated operatively and nonoperatively for displaced midshaft clavicular fractures. Using the same outcomes we also compared the operative methods. It mediated the relationship between knowledge and all three preventive behaviors (wearing facial masks, practicing hand hygiene, and avoiding crowded places). The level of knowledge varied by sociodemographic characteristics. Females (β = 0.06, p < 0.05) and individuals with higher levels of education (β = 0.06, p < 0.05) demonstrated higher levels of knowledge.

The goal of this study is to describe the patterns of ow/ob in a longitudinal sample of Vietnamese children from ages 1 to 8, and the sociodemographic and behavioral factors associated with ow/ob at age 8.

    The optimal treatment for recurrent high-grade gliomas (rHGGs) remains uncertain. This study aimed to investigate the efficacy and safety of hypofractionated stereotactic radiosurgery (HSRS) as a first-line salvage treatment for in-field recurrence of high-grade gliomas.

    Between January 2016 and October 2019, 70 patients with rHGG who underwent HSRS were retrospectively analysed. The primary endpoint was overall survival (OS), and secondary endpoints included both progression-free survival (PFS) and adverse events, which were assessed according to Common Toxicity Criteria Adverse Events (CTCAE) version 5. The prognostic value of key clinical features (age, performance status, planning target volume, dose, use of bevacizumab) was evaluated.

    A total of 70 patients were included in the study. Forty patients were male and 30 were female. Forty-nine had an initial diagnosis of glioblastoma (GBM), and the rest (21) were confirmed to be WHO grade 3 gliomas. The median planning target volume (PTV) was 16.68 cm

    A cohort of 91 pregnant women/new mothers having serum hydroxyvitamin D (S-25-OHD) ≤ 50 nmol/L (n = 51 Somali-born with one third < 10 nmol/L of S-25-OHD) in primary health care in Sweden was targeted for intervention. Brief individual oral and visual information on vitamin D was given by doctors at baseline and after four and ten months. Questionnaires with ordinal scales on vitamin D related lifestyle of food, clothing, and outdoor activities were distributed on all occasions. Focus-group interviews with 15 women from the target-group were performed after two years. A Somali interpreter was available.

  • To estimate the efficacy of urethroplasty and rates of de novo stress urinary incontinence (SUI) in the specific setting of radiation-induced urethral stenosis.

    A systematic search of databases (PubMed and EMBASE) was performed between 1980-2019 (CRD42020144845). Inclusion criteria were (1) prior pelvic radiotherapy; (2) surgical urethroplasty; (3) rates of successful treatment and/or SUI development and (4) total case number provided. The pooled summary of stenosis resolution rate and SUI were calculated using the random-effects model weighted by the inverse variance. Accessory analyses were performed by reconstructive technique and type of RT.

    Ninety-six studies were identified, of which 8 retrospective studies met inclusion criteria, comprising 256 patients. The proportion of cases treated with external beam RT (EBRT), brachytherapy (BT), or combination (EBRT+BT) were 52%, 33%, and 15%, respectively, of studies that specified modality. We have predicted the preferred positions of Ca2+ binding to the SARS-CoV-2-FP, the role of Ca2+ ions in mediating peptide-membrane interactions, the preferred mode of insertion of the Ca2+-bound SARS-CoV-2-FP, and consequent effects on the lipid bilayer from extensive atomistic molecular dynamics simulations and trajectory analyses. In a systematic sampling of the interactions of the Ca2+-bound peptide models with lipid membranes, SARS-CoV-2-FP penetrated the bilayer and disrupted its organization only in two modes involving different structural domains. In one, the hydrophobic residues F833/I834 from the middle region of the peptide are inserted. Generation of wrinkles is dependent upon myosin contractility, and their wavelength scales directly with the density of the actin network and inversely with cell adhesion. It has been suggested that substrate-specific changes in ACP structure and dynamics have a crucial impact on the desaturase enzymatic activity. Using molecular dynamics simulations, we investigated the intrinsic solution structure and dynamics of ACP from spinach with four different acyl chains capric (C10), myristic (C14), palmitic (C16), and stearic (C18) acids. We found that the fatty acids can adopt two distinct structural binding motifs, which feature different binding free energies and influence the ACP dynamics in a different manner.

  • Proper training and follow-up for patients new to continuous glucose monitor (CGM) use are required to maintain adherence and achieve diabetes-related outcomes. However, CGM training is hampered by the lack of evidence-based standards and poor reimbursement. We hypothesized that web-based CGM training and education would be effective and could be provided with minimal burden to the health care team.

    The aim of this study was to perform a pilot feasibility study testing a theory-driven, web-based intervention designed to provide extended training and follow-up support to adolescents and young adults newly implementing CGM and to describe CGM adherence, glycemic control, and CGM-specific psychosocial measures before and after the intervention.

    The "Intervention Designed to Educate and improve Adherence through Learning to use CGM (IDEAL CGM)" web-based training intervention was based on supporting literature and theoretical concepts adapted from the health belief model and social cognitive theory. Patientportance of continued research efforts to optimize the use of web-based intervention tools for their potential to improve adherence and glycemic control and the psychosocial impact of the use of diabetes technologies without adding significant burden to the health care team. Enhancements should be made to the intervention to increase engagement, maximize responsiveness, and ensure attainment of the skills necessary to achieve consistent use and improvements in glycemic control prior to the design of a larger well-powered clinical trial to establish feasibility.

    Mental ill-health is one of the most significant health and social issues affecting young people globally. To address the mental health crisis, a number of cross-sectoral research and action priorities have been identified. These include improving mental health literacy, translating research findings into accessible public health outputs, and the use of digital technologies. There are, however, few examples of public health-oriented knowledge transfer activities involving collaborations between researchers, the Arts, and online platforms in the field of youth mental health.

    The primary aim of this project was to translate qualitative research findings into a series of online public mental health animations targeting young people between the ages of 16 and 25 years. A further aim was to track online social media engagement and viewing data for the animations for a period of 12 months.

    Qualitative data were collected from a sample of 17 youth in Ireland, aged 18-21 years, as part of the longitudinal populuts. They offer a cost-effective way to provide targeted online information about mental health, coping, and help-seeking to young people. Cross-sectoral collaboration is required to leverage the knowledge and expertise required to maximize the quality and potential reach of any knowledge transfer activities. A high level of engagement is possible by targeting non-help-seeking young people on their native social media platforms. Paid promotion is, therefore, an important consideration when budgeting for online knowledge translation and dissemination activities in health research.

  • Standardized uptake value ratio (SUVr) used to quantify amyloid-β burden from amyloid-PET scans can be biased by variations in the tracer's nonspecific (NS) binding caused by the presence of cerebrovascular disease (CeVD). In this work, we propose a novel amyloid-PET quantification approach that harnesses the intermodal image translation capability of convolutional networks to remove this undesirable source of variability.

    Paired MR and PET images exhibiting very low specific uptake were selected from a Singaporean amyloid-PET study involving 172 participants with different severities of CeVD. Two convolutional neural networks (CNN), ScaleNet and HighRes3DNet, and one conditional generative adversarial network (cGAN) were trained to map structural MR to NS PET images. NS estimates generated for all subjects using the most promising network were then subtracted from SUVr images to determine specific amyloid load only (SAβ
    ). Associations of SAβ
    with various cognitive and functional test scores were then computed and compared to results using conventional SUVr.

    Multimodal ScaleNet outperformed other networks in predicting the NS content in cortical gray matter with a mean relative error below 2%. Compared to SUVr, SAβ

We used in vitro gut sac preparations of the ammoniotelic rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) to investigate the role of the intestine in producing and transporting ammonia and urea, with specific focus on feeding versus fasting, and on responses to loading of the lumen with 2 mmol L-1 glutamine or 2 mmol L-1 ammonia. Feeding increased not only ammonia production and both mucosal and serosal fluxes, but also increased urea production and serosal fluxes. Elevated urea production was accompanied by an increase in arginase activity but minimal CPS III activity, suggesting that urea may be produced by direct arginolysis.     We analysed publicly available data on sanctioned athletes/support personnel from the International Weightlifting Federation between 2008 and 2019 and announced retrospective Anti-Doping Rule Violations (ADRVs) from the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games.

    There were 565 sanctions between 2008 and 2019 of which 82% related to the detection of exogenous Anabolic Androgenic Steroid (AAS) metabolites and markers indicating endogenous AAS usage. The detection of exogenous AAS metabolites, markers of endogenous AAS usage and other substance metabolites varied by IWF Continental Federation (p ≤ 0.05) with Europe (74%, 11%, 15%) and Asia (70%, 15%, 15%) showing a higher detection of exogenous AAS compared to Pan America (37%, 30%, 33%) and Africa (50%, 17%, 33%).     Standardized uptake value ratio (SUVr) used to quantify amyloid-β burden from amyloid-PET scans can be biased by variations in the tracer's nonspecific (NS) binding caused by the presence of cerebrovascular disease (CeVD). In this work, we propose a novel amyloid-PET quantification approach that harnesses the intermodal image translation capability of convolutional networks to remove this undesirable source of variability. Paired MR and PET images exhibiting very low specific uptake were selected from a Singaporean amyloid-PET study involving 172 participants with different severities of CeVD. Two convolutional neural networks (CNN), ScaleNet and HighRes3DNet, and one conditional generative adversarial network (cGAN) were trained to map structural MR to NS PET images. NS estimates generated for all subjects using the most promising network were then subtracted from SUVr images to determine specific amyloid load only (SAβ ). Associations of SAβ with various cognitive and functional test scores were then computed and compared to results using conventional SUVr. Multimodal ScaleNet outperformed other networks in predicting the NS content in cortical gray matter with a mean relative error below 2%. Compared to SUVr, SAβ showed increased association with cognitive and functional test scores by up to 67%. Removing the undesirable NS uptake from the amyloid load measurement is possible using deep learning and substantially improves its accuracy. We used in vitro gut sac preparations of the ammoniotelic rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) to investigate the role of the intestine in producing and transporting ammonia and urea, with specific focus on feeding versus fasting, and on responses to loading of the lumen with 2 mmol L-1 glutamine or 2 mmol L-1 ammonia. Feeding increased not only ammonia production and both mucosal and serosal fluxes, but also increased urea production and serosal fluxes. Elevated urea production was accompanied by an increase in arginase activity but minimal CPS III activity, suggesting that urea may be produced by direct arginolysis. The ammonia production and serosal fluxes increased in fasted preparations with glutamine loading, indicating an ability of the intestinal tissue to deaminate glutamine and perhaps use it as an energy source.   • 3D lidar scene projector (LSP) plays an important role in the hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation for autonomous driving system (ADS). It generates a simulated 3D lidar scene in laboratory by generating a 2D array of optical time delay signals. The reconfigurable optical time delay array (ROTDA) is crucial for LSP. However, current ROTDA solutions cannot support a LSP with a spatial resolution more than 10×10. In this paper, we proposed a novel ROTDA design based on the time slicing method. The optical signals with the same time delay but different spatial coordinates were treated as one time slice. Different time slices were superimposed into a composite image by a microlens-array-based imaging system to obtain a 3D lidar scene. And a spatial light modulator (SLM) was utilized to configure the time delay of each lidar scene pixel. We developed a ROTDA prototype with 64×64 pixels, each pixel can be reconfigured with up to 180 different time delays in one frame. The time delay resolution is 1 ns, the maximum time delay is 5000 s, and the 3D frame rate is 20Hz. The prototype can generate a continuous lidar scene with a distance span of 27 m, and can also generate up to 8 short scenes that are separated from each other along the lidar observation direction, each short scene covers a distance span of 3 m or 3.75 m. The design method proposed in this paper can also be applied to other occasions that demand a large number of time delay generators.X-ray phase contrast imaging is gaining importance as an imaging tool. However, it is common for X-ray phase detection techniques to be sensitive to the derivatives of the phase. Therefore, the integration of differential phase images is a fundamental step both to access quantitative pixel content and for further analysis such as segmentation. The integration of noisy data leads to artefacts with a severe impact on image quality and on its quantitative content. In this work, an integration method based on the Wiener filter is presented and tested using simulated and real data obtained with the edge illumination differential X-ray phase imaging method. The method is shown to provide high image quality while preserving the quantitative pixel content of the integrated image. In addition, it requires a short computational time making it suitable for large datasets.For any single anterior chamber cross-sectional (tomographic) imaging method, there is a practical compromise between image size and image resolution. In order to obtain large field-of-view cross-sectional images of the whole anterior chamber and high-resolution cross-sectional images of the fine corneal layers, measurements by multiple devices are currently required. This paper presents a novel raster scanning tomographic imaging device that acquires simultaneous large field-of-view Scheimpflug (12.5 mm image depth, 50 μm axial resolution in air) and high-resolution spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) (2 mm image depth, 3.7μm axial resolution in air) using the same illuminating photons. For the novel raster scanning 3D Scheimpflug imaging, a tunable lens system together with numerical methods for correcting refraction distortion were used. To demonstrate the capability of simultaneous measurement of both fine corneal layers and whole anterior chambers topology, ex vivo measurements on 12 porcine and 12 bovine eyes were carried out. There is a reasonable agreement in the overall central corneal thicknesses (CCT) obtained from the simultaneous SD-OCT and Scheimpflug measurements. In addition, because the same infrared light beam was used to illuminate the sample, both OCT and Scheimpflug images were taken at the exact same location of a sample simultaneously in a single measurement.
