Introduction Cervical cancer (CC) is a major health threat to women worldwide. Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) has been reported to play crucial roles in regulating carcinogenesis, including CC. Methods In this work, levels of lncRNA forkhead box P4 antisense RNA 1 (FOXP4-AS1) in CC cell lines and normal cell lines were analyzed with quantitative Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (qRT-PCR) method. Effects of FOXP4-AS1 on CC cellular behaviors including proliferation, migration, and invasion were explored. Bioinformatic prediction tools and luciferase activity reporter assay were conducted to explore the downstream molecules for FOXP4-AS1. Results We found FOXP4-AS1 expression was significantly higher in CC cell lines than in normal cell line. Functionally, force FOXP4-AS1 expression increased CC cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, while FOXP4-AS1 knockdown caused opposite effects. Mechanistically, we found FOXP4-AS1 acts as competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) for microRNA-136-5p (miR-136-5p) to regulate chromobox 4 (CBX4) expression. Discussion These findings indicated FOXP4-AS1 plays an oncogenic role in CC, which may provide novel therapeutic biomarker against CC. © 2020 Zhao et al.Purpose This research aimed to explore the role of miR-221-5p on the sensitivity of gastric cancer cells to cisplatin, and the proliferation and invasion of gastric cancer cells by regulating DDR1. Patients and Methods Altogether 69 patients who treated with radical gastrectomy from January 2014 to January 2016 were collected. With the agree of the patients, 69 gastric carcinoma and 69 adjacent tissues were taken, respectively, during the operation, and gastric carcinoma and human gastric mucosa cells were purchased. RT-PCR was used for detection of the expression level of miR-221-5p and DDR1. Wound healing assay and CCK-8 assay were used for exploration of the cell migration and viability. Western blot and double luciferase reporter gene were performed to determine the target gene of miR-221-5p. Results It was showed that miR-221-5p expression was decreased in GC tissues and cell lines. The high expression of miR-221-5p reduced the resistance of GC cells to cisplatin and inhibited the proliferation and migration of gastric cancer cells. The high expression of miR-221-5p promoted the proliferation, invasion and migration of GC cells. In addition, we found that DDR1 was a direct target gene of miR-221-5p in GC cells. We found that DDR1 expression increased in gastric carcinoma. Moreover, there was a negative correlation of DDR1 with the expression level of miR-221-5p. The increase of miR-221-5p increased the chemosensitivity of GC cells to cisplatin, and inhibited the proliferation, invasion, migration and EMT of GC cells by targeting DDR1. Conclusion Knockdown of lncRNA TUG1 enhanced radiosensitivity in PCa via the TUG1/miR-139-5p/SMC1A axis. Donor-derived CAR T-cell therapy, the most vital advanced anticancer technology, may be a promising salvage strategy for patients with Ph-like B-ALL. Here, we presented a relapsed and refractory case of a child with Ph-like B-ALL after autologous anti-CD19 CAR T-cell therapy followed by haplo-HSCT. She successfully achieved the fourth complete remission (CR4) and maintained CR for five months after the sequential infusion of donor-derived anti-CD22 and anti-CD19 CAR T cells, with mild CRS side effects and no obvious graft-versus-host disease. Climate models project that the temperature of Atlantic deep waters could rise by 1-3°C by 2100. In this context, understanding the effects of temperature on the physiology of cold-water species will help in evaluating their resilience to future oceanic changes. We investigated the response of L. pertusa to stepwise short-term increases in temperature. We sampled corals from four reefs, two located north of the Arctic circle and two at the mid-Norwegian shelf (boreal). In on-board experiments (one per reef), the sampled fragments were exposed to increasing temperatures from 5 to 15°C over 58 h. Respiration increased linearly by threefold for a 10°C increase. The short-term temperature increase did not induce mortality, cellular (neutral red assay for lysosome membrane stability; but one exception) or oxidative stress (lipid peroxidation assay) - to a few exceptions. However, the variability of the respiration responses depended on the experiment (i.e., reef location), possibly linked to the genetic structure of the individuals that we sampled (e.g., clones or siblings). The corals from the Arctic and boreal regions appear to have a high tolerance to the rapid temperature fluctuations they experience in the field. Over extended periods of time however, an increased metabolism could deplete the energy stored by the corals, if not met by an increased food availability and/or uptake. We carried out a study of laboratory experiment using computer-based Mouselab method to determine the mechanism. We found that different colors altered the altruistic behaviors of people. Specifically, blue enhanced altruism, whereas red discouraged altruism. We used a process-tracing technique to monitor the selection of an adaptive strategy and demonstrate that different colors can simulate changes in information acquisition and then lead to the corresponding behaviors. The results suggested that the decision heuristic plays a mediating role in the link between colors and individual altruistic behaviors. This paper extends OEM and MEM to the graded response model (GRM), a popular model for polytomous data with ordered categories. Two simulation studies were carried out to explore online calibration under a variety of conditions, including calibration design, initial item parameter calculation methods, calibration methods, calibration sample size and the number of categories. Results show that the calibration accuracy of new items were acceptable, and which were affected by the interaction of some factors, therefore some conclusions were given. The difference in recognition of emotional faces and stickers was also further explored. Using a high-resolution event-related potential (ERP) technique, a time-locked delayed matching-to-sample task (DMST) was employed that allowed separate investigations of target, delay, and probe phases. Twenty-two subjects participated in our experiment. The results indicated that negative face can catch early attention in information encoding, which was indicated by the augmentation of the attention-related P200 amplitude. In the delay phase, the N170 component represents facial specificity and showed a negative bias against stickers. For information retrieval, the increase in the emotion-related late positive component (LPC) showed that positive emotion could damage spatial WM and consume more cognitive resources. Three iterative rounds of cognitive debriefing interviews were conducted in 26 patients with AD (17 adults; 9 adolescents) to pretest and refine the instrument.Results AD-related itching was considered the most bothersome AD symptom by nearly two-thirds of the focus group participants. The items in the initial version of the instrument, named the Atopic Dermatitis Itch Scale (ADIS), were developed to reflect concepts most relevant to the assessment of itching as described during the focus groups. Based on results of the cognitive debriefing interviews, an 8-item final version of the ADIS was created.Conclusion The ADIS is a content valid PRO instrument addressing the concepts critical to the measurement of AD-related itching. Electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry was taken to evaluate the concentrations of 11 AAs and 31 ACs in DBS specimens obtained from all enrolled neonates.Results Compared with the AGA neonates, except propionylcarnitine, the concentrations of SGA neonatal most AAs and AC in the newborn were higher, while those of the newborns in the LGA group were lower.Conclusion Different concentrations of AAs and ACs in the three groups suggest that SGA may be associated with under anabolic metabolism, while LGA may be associated with over anabolic metabolism.This work aims to understand intra- and interprofessional networks of general practitioners (GPs) and ear, nose, and throat specialists (ENT specialists), and in what manner supervisors in these specialties involve interns in their professional network to help them learn intra- and interprofessional collaboration. An egocentric social network approach was used to collect and analyze quantitative as well as qualitative data. For this, semi-structured interviews were held with ten GP and ten ENT specialists. GPs had significantly more interprofessional contacts than ENT specialists (p less then .01), with no significant difference in the network sizes of both professions (p = .37). All supervisors involved interns in their (ego)network actively as well as more passively. They actively discussed how collaboration with other professionals evolved, or passively assumed that an intern would learn from observing the supervisors' network interactions. Many supervisors considered the interns' initiative essential in deciding to involve an intern in their network.

The synthesis of Asn-tRNAAsn in most prokaryotes uses an indirect aminoacylation pathway involving a non-discriminating aspartyl-synthetase (ND-AspRS) and a glutamine amidotransferase (GatCAB). This was recently implicated as an adaptive mistranslation mechanism for antimicrobial resistance in Mycobacterium tuberculosis, but it remains poorly understood. We report an accessible liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry method with unparalleled chemical specificity, sensitivity, and quantification over the current assays to enable the direct analysis and drug screening campaigns of this pathway. Through this method, we show that the mycobacterial ND-AspRS stimulates the glutaminase activity of GatCAB. We further uncover novel glutaminase activity of the synthetase. These biological insights help better understand the indirect aminoacylation biology and allude to new roles beyond protein translation. This article is protected by copyright. This knowledge is important to predict the shifts in microbial diversity and functions to increasing changes in vegetation traits under global change. Here we documented the topsoil microbiomes of 145 boreal and temperate terrestrial sites in the Baltic region that broadly differed in vegetation type and nutritional traits, such as mycorrhizal types and symbiotic nitrogen-fixation. We found that sites dominated by arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) vegetation harbor relatively more AM fungi, bacteria, fungal saprotrophs, and pathogens in the topsoil compared with sites dominated by ectomycorrhizal (EM) plants. These differences in microbiome composition reflect the rapid nutrient cycling and negative plant-soil feedback in AM soils. Lower fungal diversity and bacteria-to-fungi ratios in EM-dominated habitats are driven by monodominance of woody vegetation as well as soil acidification by EM fungi, which are associated with greater diversity and relative abundance of carbohydrate-active enzymes. Our study suggests that shifts in vegetation related to global change and land use may strongly alter the topsoil microbiome structure and function. This article is protected by copyright. However, the immunological mechanisms underlying these pathological processes have yet to be established. To fill this gap in knowledge, using a murine model and immunophenotyping, we determined the effect of advanced maternal age on the main cellular branch of adaptive immunity, T cells, at the maternal-fetal interface and in the offspring. We report that advanced maternal age impaired the process of labor at term, inducing dystocia and delaying the timing of delivery. Advanced maternal age diminished the number of specific pro-inflammatory T-cell subsets (Th1CD4+IFNγ+, CD8+IFNγ+, and Th9CD4+IL9+), as well as CD4+ regulatory T cells (CD4+CD25+FoxP3+ T cells), at the maternal-fetal interface prior to term labor. Advanced maternal age also altered fetal growth and survival of the offspring in early life. In addition, infants born to advanced age mothers had alterations in the T-cell repertoire but not in CD71+ erythroid cells (CD3-CD71+TER119+). METHODS Twenty-four male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into three groups control, experimental periodontitis (Ep) and Ep-Melatonin (Ep-Mel). Experimental periodontitis was induced by placing and maintaining 3.0 silk ligatures at a sub-peri marginal position on the left and right mandibular first molars for five weeks. Afterward, following the removal of ligatures, melatonin (10 mg/body weight) to Ep-Mel group, and vehicle (saline) to Ep and control groups were administered intraperitoneally for fourteen days. On the first day of the eighth week, mandibular and cardiac left ventricular tissue samples were obtained following the euthanasia of the rats in all groups. Alveolar bone loss measurements were made on histological and micro-computed tomographic slices. Cardiac tissue levels of malonyl-aldehyde (MDA), glutathione (GSH), superoxide dismutase (***), catalase (CAT), matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) and Cardiac Troponin-T (TnT) were evaluated by appropriate biochemical methods. RESULTS Measurements made on the histological and micro-computed tomographic slices showed that melatonin significantly limits the ligature induced periodontal tissue destruction (p0.05). CONCLUSION Melatonin might be regarded as an important supportive therapeutic agent to reduce the early degenerative changes and possible hypertrophic remodeling at cardiac left ventricular tissues provoked by periodontitis-related bacteria and/or periodontal inflammation. The most abundant molecules in the essential oil were α- phellandrene (43.16%), limonene (7.04%); some oxygenated sesquiterpenes such as trans-sesquisabinene hydrate (8.23%), elemol (7.21%) and others. The evaluation of antimicrobial activity showed activity in all the strains analyzed; however, those in which ****values are considered to be very strong (less than 500 µg/mL) are Staphylococcus aureus 264 µg/mL, Streptococcus mutans 132 µg/mL, Candida albicans 132 µg/mL and Candida tropicalis 264 µg/mL. The cultivars were also distinguished clearly. Taken together, SLAF-seq can be used as an accurate and reliable method in the assessment of the distinctness and uniformity of soybean cultivars.This study evaluates the antimicrobial and antifungal potential of the essential oil extracted from a species located in the Andes of Ecuador, Piper barbatum Kunth, known as "cordoncillo" or "allupa", used by the Quichua people as an antibacterial plant for washing female genitalia in cases of infection. Gene annotation resulted in 67,741 gene models. Analysis of gene content revealed large numbers of gene duplicates, as previously seen in bivalves, with little gene loss, in comparison with the sequenced genomes of other marine bivalve species. CONCLUSIONS The genome assembly of P. maximus and its annotated gene set provide a high-quality platform for studies on such disparate topics as shell biomineralization, pigmentation, vision, and resistance to algal toxins. Design, Setting, and Participants The British National Child Development Study (1958 Birth Cohort Study) is a prospective cohort study based on a nationally representative sample of births from England, Scotland, and Wales. A total of 17 415 individuals had their gross and fine motor psychomotor coordination assessed using 9 tests at ages 11 and 16 years. Data analysis for the present study was conducted from October 2016 to December 2019. Main Outcomes and Measures All-cause mortality as ascertained from a vital status registry and survey records. Objective To compare the health care utilization and cost of an employer-sponsored on-site, near-site, and virtual comprehensive primary care service delivery model with those of traditional community-based primary care. Design, Setting, and Participants This population-based cohort study of 23 518 commercially insured employees and dependents of an engineering and manufacturing firm headquartered in southern California was performed from January 1, 2016, to July 1, 2019. A subset of the population with most (≥50%) primary care visits through employer-sponsored on-site, near-site, or virtual care clinics was matched to a subset not having most such visits through the employer-sponsored clinics using propensity score matching (n = 1983 each). In sensitivity analyses, employees were matched to dependents at neighboring firms that lacked access to the emploals, total spending was 45% lower per member per month (95% CI, 35%-55%; cost difference, -$167 per member per month; 95% CI, -$204 to -$130; P less then .001) among users after adjustment. The lower spending was associated with lower spending on non-primary care services, such as emergency department (-33%; 95% CI, -44% to -22%) and hospital visits (-16%; 95% CI, -22% to -10%), despite higher spending on primary care (109%; 95% CI, 102%-116%) and mental health (20%; 95% CI, 13%-27%). Conclusions and Relevance The findings suggest that individuals who used the models' services for most of their primary care had lower total spending despite higher primary care spending, which may be associated with self-selection of lower-risk persons to the employer-sponsored services and/or with the use of comprehensive primary care.Social determinants of health (SDoH) influence risk of injury. Children (≤16 years of age) admitted to a Canadian regional burn center between January 1, 1999 and March 30, 2017 were matched based on age, sex, and geographic location 15 with an uninjured control cohort from the general population. Population-level administrative data describing the SDoH at the Manitoba Center for Health Policy (MCHP) were compared between the cohorts. Specific SDoH were chosen based on a published systematic review conducted by the research team. In the final multivariable model, children from a low-income household odds ratio (OR) (95% confidence interval) 1.97 (1.46, 2.65), in care 1.57 (1.11, 2.21), from a family that received income assistance 1.71 (1.33, 2.19) and born to a teen mother 1.43 (1.13, 1.81) were significantly associated with an increased risk of pediatric burn injury. This study identified SDoH that are associated with an increased risk of burn injury. This case-control study supports the finding that children from a low-income household, children in care, from a family that received income assistance, and children born to a teen mother are at an elevated risk of burn injury. Iron oxides used as food colorants are listed in the European Union with the number E172. However, there are no specifications concerning the fraction of nanoparticles in these pigments. Here, seven E172 products were thoroughly characterized. Samples of all colors were analyzed with a broad spectrum of methods to assess their physico-chemical properties. Small-Angle X-ray Scattering (SAXS), Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), zeta-potential, Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller analysis (BET), Asymmetric Flow Field-Flow Fractionation (AF4) and in vitro cell viability measurements were used. Nanoparticles were detected in all E172 samples by TEM or SAXS measurements. Quantitative results from both methods were comparable. Five pigments were evaluated by TEM, of which four had a size median below 100 nm, while SAXS showed a size median below 100 nm for six evaluated pigments. Therefore, consumers may be exposed to iron oxide nanoparticles through the consumption of food pigments.The objective of this study was to analyze existing taro mucilage extraction techniques for extraction of a pure product with high emulsifying action to chemically characterize the mucilage. Iron oxides used as food colorants are listed in the European Union with the number E172. However, there are no specifications concerning the fraction of nanoparticles in these pigments. Here, seven E172 products were thoroughly characterized. Samples of all colors were analyzed with a broad spectrum of methods to assess their physico-chemical properties. Small-Angle X-ray Scattering (SAXS), Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), zeta-potential, Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller analysis (BET), Asymmetric Flow Field-Flow Fractionation (AF4) and in vitro cell viability measurements were used. Nanoparticles were detected in all E172 samples by TEM or SAXS measurements. Quantitative results from both methods were comparable. Five pigments were evaluated by TEM, of which four had a size median below 100 nm, while SAXS showed a size median below 100 nm for six evaluated pigments. BACKGROUND Despite growing interest in the role of social norms in perpetuating the harmful practice of sexual exploitation of children and adolescents (SECA), little is known about the state of the literature on this issue. OBJECTIVE This systematic review aims to summarize what associated norms, attitudes and factual beliefs have been identified by the SECA literature worldwide. METHODS Multiple database searches were conducted using controlled vocabulary and keywords referring to SECA. RESULTS Our searches identified 3690 unique references. After applying our exclusion criteria, 49 studies, including over 14,000 participants from 37 countries and most world regions, were included. Across studies we identified six injunctive norms perpetuating SECA owning goods as a social status marker ; being sexually active; exchanging sex for favors; contributing financially to the household; stigma and discrimination against young people who experienced SECA; and lack of social sanctions for SECA perpetrators. These norms were supported by enhanced tolerance of SECA when it involved older or more physically developed adolescents and when it occurred in poverty-affected contexts. Beliefs around markers that denote adolescents' readiness for sex; men's entitlement to sex; and the perceived benefits of intergenerational relationships, also contributed to the maintenance and reproduction of SECA. Findings from all regions suggested that marginalized young people are particularly vulnerable to SECA. CONCLUSIONS Interventions to reduce SECA must consider individual, social, and structural factors and how they interrelate. Context-specific social norms interventions are needed to address harmful norms, promote protective norms, and improve services for those who have experienced SECA. The UK Countryside Survey (CS) is a national long-term survey of soils and vegetation that spans three decades (1978-2007). Past studies using CS data have identified clear contrasting trends in topsoil organic carbon (tSOC) concentrations (0-15 cm) related to differences between habitat types. Here we firstly examine changes in tSOC resulting from land use change, and secondly construct mixed models to describe the impact of indirect drivers where land use has been constant. Where it occurs, land use change is a strong driver of SOC change, with largest changes in tSOC for transitions involving SOC-rich soils in upland and bog systems. Afforestation did not always increase tSOC, and the effect of transitions involving woodland was dependent on the other vegetation type. The overall national spatial pattern of tSOC concentration where land use has been constant is most strongly related to vegetation type and topsoil pH, with contributions from climate variables, deposition and geology. Comparisons of models for tSOC across time periods suggest that declining SO4 deposition has allowed recovery of topsoils from acidification, but that this has not resulted in the increased decomposition rates and loss of tSOC which might be expected. As a result, the relationship between pH and tSOC in UK topsoils has changed significantly between 1978 and 2007. The contributions of other indirect drivers in the models suggest negative relationships to seasonal temperature metrics and positive relationships to seasonal precipitation at the dry end of the scale. The results suggest that the CS approach of long-term collection of co-located vegetation and soil biophysical data provides essential tools both for identifying trends in tSOC at national and habitat levels, and for identifying areas of risk or areas with opportunities for managing topsoil SOC and vegetation change. Tire and road wear particles have been identified as a potential major source of microplastics in the environment. However, more knowledge of the emissions and their further fate in the environment is needed, and the effectiveness and benefits of potential measures must be investigated to support future risk management efforts. Here the concentrations of tire and bitumen microplastic particles (TBMP) on roads and in nearby in stormwater, sweepsand and washwater were measured for the first time within the same area and time period. The analysis also included plastic, paint and fiber particles. Road dust was sampled on the road surface using a wet dust sampler, before and after street sweeping on two occasions. On each of these occasions, and several occasions during a four-month period with frequent street sweeping, sweepsand and washwater, as well as flow-weighted sampling of stormwater, were collected. TBMP concentrations were operationally defined, using density separation for some samples, followed by analysis by stereo microscopy. Sodium iodide (NaI) was found to be effective for density separation of TBMP. The largest proportion of anthropogenic microplastics detected consisted of tire tread wear and bitumen. The number of TBMP ≥100 μm in the WDS samples was up to 2561 particles/L. Sweepsand and washwater contained high amounts of TBMP ≥100 μm, up to 2170 particles/kg dw and 4500 particles/L, respectively. The results show that the sweeper collects considerable amounts of TBMP, and thus weekly sweeping might prevent further transport of TBMP to the receiving stormwater. In stormwater the number of particles ≥100 μm was up to 3 particles/L and ≥ 20 μm was up to 5900 particles/L showing the importance of analysing smaller microparticle sizes than 100 μm in all samples in future studies. An increasingly important concern in public health practice is health literacy. Simply stated, it refers to the interactions between individuals and health related information to make informed decisions concerning their health. Research shows that consumers face many health literacy challenges in accessing, understanding and evaluating nutrition labelling information when making food choices. The systematic integration of health literacy considerations into social science and consumer behaviour research can help address these challenges and better meet the needs of the increasingly diverse Canadian population. This application of a health literacy lens should be considered for all future food and nutrition labelling research, to maximize the positive impact of subsequent health policies and regulations on health outcomes and health status of Canadians.Since the first polyethylene glycol (PEG)ylated protein was approved by the FDA in 1990, PEGylation has been successfully applied to develop drug delivery systems through experiments, but these experimental results are not always easy to interpret at the atomic level because of the limited resolution of experimental techniques. To determine the optimal size, structure, and density of PEG for drug delivery, the structure and dynamics of PEGylated drug carriers need to be understood close to the atomic scale, as can be done using molecular dynamics simulations, assuming that these simulations can be validated by successful comparisons to experiments. Starting with the development of all-atom and coarse-grained PEG models in 1990s, PEGylated drug carriers have been widely simulated. In particular, recent advances in computer performance and simulation methodologies have allowed for molecular simulations of large complexes of PEGylated drug carriers interacting with other molecules such as anticancer drugs, plasma proteins, membranes, and receptors, which makes it possible to interpret experimental observations at a nearly atomistic resolution, as well as help in the rational design of drug delivery systems for applications in nanomedicine. Purpose The aim of this work was to compare screws made specifically for mandibular head osteosynthesis from different materials. Materials and methods Screws measuring 14 mm made by one manufacturer specifically for mandibular head osteosynthesis out of the following materials were selected magnesium (MgYREZr), titanium (Ti6Al7Nb), and polymer (PLGA). The axial pull-out strength and torsional properties were investigated. Results Each type of screw presented different pull-out forces (Kruskal-Wallis test, p 0.05). GO acting as trapping sites in the active layer might be responsible for the biomemory mechanism. The phase interference-sensing system based on high-resolution surface plasmon resonance (SPR) has an excellent refractive index detection limit. Based on this, this paper presents a simple and workable method for the characterization and detection of inert gases. The phase of light for the present SPR sensor is more sensitive to the change in the external dielectric environment than an amplitude SPR sensor. The limit of detection (LOD) is usually in the order of 10-6 to 10-7 RIU, which is superior to LSPR (Localized Surface Plasmon Resonance) sensors and traditional SPR sensors. The sensor parameters are simulated and optimized. Our simulation shows that a 36 nm-thick gold film is more suitable for the SPR sensing of inert gases. By periodically switching between the two inert gases, helium and argon, the resolution of the system is tested. The SPR sensing system can achieve distinguishable difference signals, enabling a clear distinction and characterization of helium and argon.

The limit of detection (LOD) is usually in the order of 10-6 to 10-7 RIU, which is superior to LSPR (Localized Surface Plasmon Resonance) sensors and traditional SPR sensors. The sensor parameters are simulated and optimized. Our simulation shows that a 36 nm-thick gold film is more suitable for the SPR sensing of inert gases. By periodically switching between the two inert gases, helium and argon, the resolution of the system is tested. METHODS We calculated the percentage of the lung volume received at least 5 Gy (V5) and 20 Gy (V20), the mean lung dose (MLD), and the lung volume spared from a 5 Gy dose (VS5) to the total lung volume. Factors affecting the incidence of grade ≥2 RP were identified; severe RP was defined as grade ≥3 as well as grade 2 RP that required ≥10 mg prednisolone for at least 12 weeks. RESULTS This study included 45 patients. On univariate analysis, all parameters and total lung volume were found to be significant predictors of grade ≥2 RP (P = .001, .003, .03, .004, and .02, respectively). On multivariate analysis, V20 was a significant predictive factor of grade ≥2 RP (P = .007). Severe RP developed in 6 of 37 patients (16.2%) whose V20 values were 35% or lower. On univariate analysis, only V20 was a significant predictor of severe RP in these patients (P = .01). CONCLUSIONS The best approach to reduce the rate of grade ≥2 RP is to maintain the V5, V20, MLD, and VS5 as low as possible during radiotherapy planning in patients receiving definitive CCRT with cisplatin/docetaxel. © 2020 The Authors. Lev-resistant (Lev-R) V. alginolyticus exhibits slow growth, reduced pathogenicity and greater resistance to killing by the host, Danio rerio (zebrafish), than Lev-sensitive (Lev-S) V. alginolyticus, suggesting that Lev-R V. alginolyticus triggers a weaker innate immune response in D. rerio than Lev-S V. alginolyticus. Differences were detected in the metabolome of D. rerio infected with Lev-S or Lev-R V. alginolyticus. Maltose, a crucial metabolite, is significantly downregulated in D. rerio infected with Lev-R V. alginolyticus, and exogenous maltose enhances the immune response of D. rerio to Lev-R V. alginolyticus, leading to better clearance of the infection. Furthermore, we demonstrate that exogenous maltose stimulates the host production of lysozyme and its binding to Lev-R V. alginolyticus, which depends on bacterial membrane potential. Heidelberg and S. Typhimurium cases reported in Ontario in 2015, following implementation of the OIT. Multilevel logistic regression models were applied to assess associations between serotype and individual-level demographic characteristics, exposures and symptoms for sporadic confirmed cases of S. Heidelberg and S. Typhimurium in Ontario in 2015. There were 476 sporadic cases of S. Typhimurium (n = 278) and S. Heidelberg (n = 198) reported in Ontario in 2015. There were significant associations between the odds of the isolate from a case being one of these serotypes, and travel, consumption of sprouts (any type), contact with reptiles and development of malaise, fever or ****** diarrhoea. The S. Typhimurium and S. Heidelberg cases differed in both symptom presentation and risk factors for illness. Case-case comparisons of Salmonella serotypes have some advantages over case-control studies in that these are less susceptible to selection and recall bias while allowing for rapid comparison of cases to identify potential high-risk exposures that are unique to one of the serotypes when compared to the other. Comparing cases of two different Salmonella serotypes can help to highlight risk factors that may be uniquely associated with one serotype, or more strongly associated with one serotype compared to another. RESULTS Out of 76 histopathologically diagnosed FL, a group of 25 cases had simultaneously FCM. Immunohistochemically 77.6% of cases were CD10-positive with comparable and reproducible results to FCM. Differences between the FCM expression of CD5/CD10/CD11c/CD25/CD43 and BCL2 overexpression (BCL2(+)higher ) correlated with the BCL2 and BCL6 rearrangements (R) status. Lack of CD10 expression corresponded with the absence of BCL2R and higher MUM1 expression by IHC results but had no clinical impact on the long-time outcomes.
