In summary, we established a six-gene signature relevant to the prognosis of OC, which might become a therapeutic tool with clinical applications in the future.Species identification of unknown biological samples is of fundamental importance for forensic applications, especially in crime detection, poaching, and illegal trade of endangered animals as well as meat fraud. We begin with a brief recap of the classical genetic efforts that provided first insights into the genetic determinants controlling plant response to different races of FW pathogen in grain legumes. Subsequent technological breakthroughs like sequencing technologies have enhanced our understanding of the genetic basis of both plant resistance and pathogenicity. We present noteworthy examples of targeted improvement of plant resistance using genomics-assisted approaches. In parallel, modern functional genomic tools like RNA-seq are playing a greater role in illuminating the various aspects of plant-pathogen interaction. Further, proteomics and metabolomics have also been leveraged in recent years to reveal molecular players and various signaling pathways and complex networks participating in host-pathogen interaction. Finally, we present a perspective on the challenges and limitations of high-throughput phenotyping and emerging breeding approaches to expeditiously develop FW-resistant cultivars under the changing climate.Drug combination is now a hot research topic in the pharmaceutical industry, but experiment-based methodologies are extremely costly in time and money. Many computational methods have been proposed to address these problems by starting from existing drug combinations. However, in most cases, only molecular structure information is included, which covers too limited a set of drug characteristics to efficiently screen drug combinations. Here, we integrated similarity-based multifeature drug data to improve the prediction accuracy by using the neighbor recommender method combined with ensemble learning algorithms. By conducting feature assessment analysis, we selected the most useful drug features and achieved 0.964 AUC in the ensemble models. The comparison results showed that the ensemble models outperform traditional machine learning algorithms such as support vector machine (SVM), naïve Bayes (NB), and logistic regression (GLM). Furthermore, we predicted 7 candidate drug combinations for a specific drug, paclitaxel, and successfully verified that the two of the predicted combinations have promising effects.Derived from linear (parental) precursor mRNA, circRNA are recycled exons and introns whose ends are ligated. By titrating microRNAs and RNA binding proteins, circRNA interconnect networks of competing endogenous RNAs. Without altering chromosomal DNA, circRNA regulates skeletal muscle development and proliferation, lactation, ovulation, brain development, and responses to infections and metabolic stress. This review integrates emerging knowledge of circRNA activity coming from genome-wide characterizations in many clades of animals. circRNA research addresses one of the main pillars of the One Health vision - to improve the health and productivity of food animals and generate translational knowledge in animal species.

The obtained unigenes were compared with the databases, and the functions were annotated and classified.
A total of 100,276 high-quality full-length transcripts were obtained, with an average length of 2530 bp and an N50 of 3302 bp.

Here, we report efficient control of NFAT1 nuclear translocation in human embryonic kidney 293 (HEK293) cells by light, using a new photochromic TRPC benzimidazole activator (OptoBI-1) and a TRPC3 mutant with modified activator sensitivity. NFAT1 nuclear translocation was measured along with an all-optical protocol to record local and global Ca2+ pattern generated during light-mediated activation/deactivation cycling of TRPC3. Our results unveil the ability of wild-type TRPC3 to produce constitutive NFAT nuclear translocation. Moreover, we demonstrate that TRPC3 mutant that lacks basal activity enables spatiotemporally precise control over NFAT1 activity by photopharmacology. They were therefore divided into two groups the DVT group (n = 80) and the non-DVT group (n = 235). Then, baseline and clinical characteristics of the patients were compared between the two groups. In our study, distant organ metastasis, advanced stage, lymphadectomy, and amount of intraoperative blood loss had a positive predictive value for the occurrence of DVT in gynecologic cancer survivors presenting LEE. The scientific knowledge and risk perception effects are used to determine farmers' preferences for the defensive attribute on a water purifier. Using a mixed logit model, rural farmers are found to prefer a water purifier with low price, free installation, a longer warranty period, and a heavy metal filter (i.e. the defensive attribute). Farmers' neighborhood norm perception dominates the defensive preference while scientific knowledge do not work significantly. More specifically, the more the neighborhood norm perception is recognized, the more likely farmers are to improve their own preferences for the defensive attribute.

After detection and analyses, we found that compared with the normal BMI group, the risk of osteoporosis in the overweight and obese groups were reduced by 32% and 69%, respectively. Threshold effect analysis showed that BMD was positively correlated with BMI when BMI was 16.8-31.2 kg/m2; while when BMI was greater than 31.2 kg/m2, the correlation reached saturation. Methods A Meta-analysis was conducted. First of all, the literature on HIV testing of medical institutions in China was systematically searched on China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang Data Knowledge Service Platform, VIP Information Chinese journal Service platform and PubMed. Secondly, a self-made information table was used to collect the basic information, HIV positive number and test number of the literature. Finally, R 4.0.2 software was used to calculate the pooled HIV detection rate and 95%CI of the whole population, detection approaches subgroups and regions subgroups, and then the forest map was drawn. Funnel plot was used to analyze publication bias. Results A total of 45 studies which covered 22 provinces. Meta analysis showed that the pooled HIV positive rate was 0.82‰ (95%CI 0.62‰-1.04‰). Subgroup analysis showed that the HIV positive rate of STD outpatient was the highest (3.01‰ (95%CI 1.76‰-4.58‰), followed by other patients (1.43‰ (95%CI 1.00‰-1.93‰)). The HIV positive rate of western China was the highest (1.14‰ (95%CI 0.72‰-1.63‰)). The HIV positive rate in 2008-2017 was higher than in 2000-2007. The Egger test indicated no publication bias (t=-0.737, P=0.465). Conclusion The HIV positive detection rate of patients in medical institutions in China was at a low level, but the positive rate of patients in STD clinics was relatively high. Therefore, the HIV testing should be further expanded in this population. The situation of diabetes patients with hypertension, dyslipidemia, overweight and obesity, coronary heart diseases was analyzed. Logistic regression analysis of complex sampling was used to analyze the related factors of diabetes comprehensive control. Results The average age of 917 patients with diabetes was (58.5±0.7) years old. First of all, the literature on HIV testing of medical institutions in China was systematically searched on China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang Data Knowledge Service Platform, VIP Information Chinese journal Service platform and PubMed. Secondly, a self-made information table was used to collect the basic information, HIV positive number and test number of the literature. Finally, R 4.0.2 software was used to calculate the pooled HIV detection rate and 95%CI of the whole population, detection approaches subgroups and regions subgroups, and then the forest map was drawn. Funnel plot was used to analyze publication bias. Results A total of 45 studies which covered 22 provinces. Meta analysis showed that the pooled HIV positive rate was 0.82‰ (95%CI 0.62‰-1.04‰). Subgroup analysis showed that the HIV positive rate of STD outpatient was the highest (3.01‰ (95%CI 1.76‰-4.58‰), followed by other patients (1.43‰ (95%CI 1.00‰-1.93‰)). The HIV positive rate of western China was the highest (1.14‰ (95%CI 0.72‰-1.63‰)). The HIV positive rate in 2008-2017 was higher than in 2000-2007. The Egger test indicated no publication bias (t=-0.737, P=0.465). The technique provides a facile and robust way of separating cells based on elevated glycolytic activity; a biomarker associated with cancer cell malignancy.Decomposition of micropollutants using an electrocatalytic membrane reactor is a promising alternative to traditional advanced oxidation processes due to its high efficiency and environmental compatibility. Rational interface design of electrocatalysts in the membrane electrode is critical to the performance of the reactor. We herein developed a three-dimensional porous membrane electrode via in situ growth of one-dimensional RuO2/TiO2 heterojunction nanorods on a carbon nanofiber membrane by a facile hydrothermal and subsequent thermal treatment approach. The membrane electrode was used as the anode in a gravity-driven electrocatalytic membrane reactor, exhibiting a high degradation efficiency of over 98% toward bisphenol-A and sulfadiazine. The superior electrocatalytic performance was attributed to the 1D RuO2/TiO2 heterointerfacial structure, which provided the fast electron transfer, high generation rate of the hydroxyl radical, and large effective surface area. Our work paves a novel way for the fundamental understanding and designing of novel highly effective and low-consumptive electrocatalytic membranes for wastewater treatment.We report a reliable and robust method for the fabrication of bioinspired superomniphobic surfaces with precise concave-cap-shaped micropillar arrays. All 42 patients had complete medical records at a as the most common location of clear cell chondrosarcoma and had a high risk of misdiagnosis as common benign lesions that resulted in initial inadequate surgery and a consequent high risk of local recurrence. Immediate additional wide resection should be considered in patients who had initial inadequate surgery to reduce the risk of local recurrence. Because clear cell chondrosarcoma can recur locally or distantly in the bones and lungs in the long term, patients should be informed of the risk of very late recurrence and the necessity of decades-long with surveillance for local recurrence and lung and bone metastases. As of now, whole genome sequence of the newly discovered coronavirus has already been decoded. Genomic characterization nCoV-2019 have shown close homology with bat-derived severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS)-like coronaviruses, bat-SL-CoVZC45 and bat-SL-CoVZXC21. Structural analysis of the receptor binding site has confirmed that 2019-nCoV binds with the same ACE 2 receptor protein as human SARS virus. Compared to the previous coronavirus outbreaks, the overall mortality rate is relatively low for COVID-2019 (2-3%). Suspected cases must be quarantined till their test comes positive or they clear infection. The results of the new method correlated well with the existing reference assay Y (new method) = 0.974 x (reference method) + 4.9, r = 0.9990, n = 52. Bilirubin with a concentration up to 60 mg/dL and lipemic index up to 389 did not show significant interference. No significant carryover was detected. Methods We prospectively enrolled newborns admitted to the level III/IV neonatal intensive care unit and level II intermediate special care nursery from January 2017 to January 2018. Infants with inborn errors of metabolism or liver disease were excluded. Plasma ammonia concentrations were measured once within the first week of life and evaluated by sex, gestational age, timing of the draw, blood collection method, and type of nutrition. Reference intervals were calculated. Results 127 neonates were included; one third (34%) were term infants born at ≥37 weeks gestation, and two thirds (66%) were born preterm at less then 37 weeks gestation. Median plasma ammonia concentrations were 32 μmol/L (range less then 10 to 86 μmol/L). Median ammonia concentrations were higher among preterm compared to term infants (35 vs. 28 μmol/L, p = 0.0119), and term female compared to term male infants (34 vs. 26 μmol/L, p = 0.0228). There was no difference in median ammonia concentrations between female and male preterm infants, based on gestational age within the preterm group, timing of the blood draw, presence of hyperbilirubinemia, blood collection method, or type of nutritional intake. Conclusions Plasma ammonia concentrations among newborns are higher than the expected adult concentrations and may vary by gestational age and sex. Blood collection method, type of nutrition, hyperbilirubinemia, and timing of the draw do not impact concentrations. A method for free carbamazepine measurement was developed on the automated cobas chemistry analyzers (Roche Diagnostics) by modifying the Carbamazepine Gen 4 assay (Roche Diagnostics). Assay performance characteristics were established including precision, accuracy, reportable range, analytical specificity, and stability. Results The intra- and inter-assay imprecision was 0%-1.4% and 2.4%-5.1%, respectively. The lower limit of quantitation was 0.3 µg/mL, and the assay was linear up to 10.0 µg/mL. A spike recovery study, using reference standard material, showed recovery was 93.5%--101.3% across the analytical measurement range. The results of the new method correlated well with the existing reference assay Y (new method) = 0.974 x (reference method) + 4.9, r = 0.9990, n = 52. Bilirubin with a concentration up to 60 mg/dL and lipemic index up to 389 did not show significant interference. No significant carryover was detected. Methods We prospectively enrolled newborns admitted to the level III/IV neonatal intensive care unit and level II intermediate special care nursery from January 2017 to January 2018. Infants with inborn errors of metabolism or liver disease were excluded. Plasma ammonia concentrations were measured once within the first week of life and evaluated by sex, gestational age, timing of the draw, blood collection method, and type of nutrition. Reference intervals were calculated. Results 127 neonates were included; one third (34%) were term infants born at ≥37 weeks gestation, and two thirds (66%) were born preterm at less then 37 weeks gestation. Median plasma ammonia concentrations were 32 μmol/L (range less then 10 to 86 μmol/L). Median ammonia concentrations were higher among preterm compared to term infants (35 vs. 28 μmol/L, p = 0.0119), and term female compared to term male infants (34 vs. 26 μmol/L, p = 0.0228). There was no difference in median ammonia concentrations between female and male preterm infants, based on gestational age within the preterm group, timing of the blood draw, presence of hyperbilirubinemia, blood collection method, or type of nutritional intake. Conclusions Plasma ammonia concentrations among newborns are higher than the expected adult concentrations and may vary by gestational age and sex. Blood collection method, type of nutrition, hyperbilirubinemia, and timing of the draw do not impact concentrations. Methods Separation of the nonprotein bound carbamazepine was achieved via ultrafiltration through a molecular weight cut-off filter. A method for free carbamazepine measurement was developed on the automated cobas chemistry analyzers (Roche Diagnostics) by modifying the Carbamazepine Gen 4 assay (Roche Diagnostics). Assay performance characteristics were established including precision, accuracy, reportable range, analytical specificity, and stability. Results The intra- and inter-assay imprecision was 0%-1.4% and 2.4%-5.1%, respectively. The lower limit of quantitation was 0.3 µg/mL, and the assay was linear up to 10.0 µg/mL. A spike recovery study, using reference standard material, showed recovery was 93.5%--101.3% across the analytical measurement range. Method comparison with a reference laboratory method demonstrated equivalent performance with a slope of 1.01, intercept of 0.09, and correlation coefficient of 0.9948. A long-term follow-up study beyond 2 years is necessary to investigate the status of intervertebral bone graft volumes. Moreover, longer follow-up is mandatory to also evaluate the safety and efficacy of BGS-7 spacers, because they remain in the intervertebral space for a long time. MATERIALS AND METHODS In this prospective, randomized, multicenter, 4-year follow-up study, we evaluated 62 of the 74 patients who underwent 1-level PLIF. During 1-level PLIF, titanium cages filled with autologous local bone were inserted into the control group patients and sion rates and clinical outcomes in both the BGS-7 spacer and autologous bone with a titanium cage in 1-level PLIF. However, the BGS-7 spacer implants showed a larger area of fusion with the endplates than that of autologous bone with a titanium cage. To measure hypervigilance, somatosensory event-related potentials (SEP) to task-irrelevant tactile stimuli on the **** were measured when preparing movements in either a threatening or a neutral condition, indicated by a cue signaling possible pain on the **** during movement or not. RESULTS Results showed stronger attending to stimuli on the **** in the threat condition than in the neutral condition, as reflected by increased amplitude of the N96 SEP. However, this effect did not differ between groups. Similarly, for all three groups the amplitude of the P172 was larger for the threatening condition, suggesting a more general state of arousal resulting in increased somatosensory responsiveness. No significant associations were found between somatosensory attending to the **** and theorized antecedents such as pain catastrophizing, pain-related fear and pain vigilance. DISCUSSION The current study confirmed that individuals preparing a movement attended more towards somatosensory stimuli at the lower **** when anticipating **** pain during the movement, as measured by the N96 SEP. Publications in English or German language that focused on adult patient population suffering from **** pain and provided validation or reliability measures on pain-related self-efficacy were included. RESULTS A total of 3,512 records were identified resulting in 671 documents after duplicates were removed. 233 studies were screened full-text and a total of 47 studies addressing 19 different measures of pain-related self-efficacy were included in the quality analysis.

Although the presence of HFOs have been proposed to sign the epileptogenic zone, DC-like recordings demonstrate that DC shifts precede HFOs at seizure onset. BACKGROUND The mechanism for an abnormal pattern of triglyceride (TG) metabolism in response to a meal still needs further investigation. Extensive pieces of evidence have shown that apolipoprotein CIII (apoCIII) is a critical modulator of plasma TG metabolism mostly by inhibiting the hydrolysis of TG. Little is known about the role of apoCIII contained in high density lipoprotein (HDL) in plasma TG metabolism after a meal. METHODS Fasting and 4-hour postprandial peripheral venous blood were collected in 91 subjects selected from our hospital. Serum lipid parameters, apoCIII levels and HDL subcomponents were tested by standard laboratory procedures, ELISA, and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), respectively. The t-test, and Non-parametric tests were performed to examine differences between groups, Pearson's correlation and multiple regression analysis were used to assess the correlations between apoCIII (HDL-associated or nonHDL-associated) and postprandial TG. RESULTS There was a significant increase in TG after a meal compared to fasting status [155.40(96.70-251.07) mg/dl.vs.118.53(83.38-173.29)mg/dl, p 30% compared to baseline TG levels, postprandial HDL-apoCIII was also increased significantly [5.37(3.52-7.02)mg/dl.vs.6.64(4.61-8.86)mg/dl, p = 0.001]. The enrichment of apoCIII in HDL led to changes of TG, cholesterol, free cholesterol, phospholipid and apoAII contents in HDL particles defined by NMR. CONCLUSION Enrichment of apoCIII in HDL particles potentially plays an independent role in postprandial hypertriglyceridemia. In this study, we test the hypothesis that Drosophila larvae producing mildly elevated levels of endogenous mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (ROS) benefit in stressful environmental conditions due to the priming of antioxidant responses. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are produced as a by-product of oxidative phosphorylation and may be elevated when mutations decrease the efficiency of ATP production. In moderation, ROS are necessary for cell signaling and organismal health, but in excess can damage DNA, proteins, and lipids. We utilize two Drosophila melanogaster strains (Dahomey and Alstonville) that share the same nuclear genetic background but differ in their mitochondrial DNA haplotypes. Previously, we reported that Dahomey larvae harboring the V161L ND4 mtDNA mutation have reduced proton pumping and higher levels of mitochondrial ROS than Alstonville larvae when they are fed a 12 protein carbohydrate (PC) diet. Here, we explore the potential for mitochondrial ROS to provide resistance to dietary strluences the immune response. Overall, these data suggest that elevated mitochondrial ROS in Dahomey can result in greater antioxidant capacity that prevents oxidative damage from exogenous stressors and may be a conserved response to high ethanol found in rotting fruit. BACKGROUND Alzheimer's disease (AD) is projected to become one of the most expensive diseases in modern history, and yet diagnostic uncertainties exist that can only be confirmed by postmortem brain examination. Machine Learning (ML) algorithms have been proposed as a feasible alternative to the diagnosis of several neurological diseases and disorders, such as AD. An ideal ML-derived diagnosis should be inexpensive and noninvasive while retaining the accuracy and versatility that make ML techniques desirable for medical applications. NEW METHODS Two portable modalities, Electroencephalography (EEG) and functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS) have been widely employed in constructing hybrid classification models to compensate for each other's weaknesses. In this study, we present a hybrid EEG-fNIRS model for classifying four classes of subjects including one healthy control (HC) group, one mild cognitive impairment (MCI) group, and, two AD patient groups. A concurrent EEG-fNIRS setup was used to record data from 29 subjects during a random digit encoding-retrieval task. EEG-derived and fNIRS-derived features were sorted using a Pearson correlation coefficient-based feature selection (PCCFS) strategy and then fed into a linear discriminant analysis (LDA) classifier to evaluate their performance. RESULTS The hybrid EEG-fNIRS feature set was able to achieve a higher accuracy (79.31 %) by integrating their complementary properties, compared to using EEG (65.52 %) or fNIRS alone (58.62 %). Moreover, our results indicate that the right prefrontal and left parietal regions are associated with the progression of AD. COMPARISON WITH EXISTING METHODS Our hybrid and portable system provided enhanced classification performance in multi-class classification of AD population. CONCLUSIONS These findings suggest that hybrid EEG-fNIRS systems are a promising tool that may enhance the AD diagnosis and assessment process.

BACKGROUND The mechanism for an abnormal pattern of triglyceride (TG) metabolism in response to a meal still needs further investigation. Extensive pieces of evidence have shown that apolipoprotein CIII (apoCIII) is a critical modulator of plasma TG metabolism mostly by inhibiting the hydrolysis of TG. Little is known about the role of apoCIII contained in high density lipoprotein (HDL) in plasma TG metabolism after a meal. METHODS Fasting and 4-hour postprandial peripheral venous blood were collected in 91 subjects selected from our hospital. Serum lipid parameters, apoCIII levels and HDL subcomponents were tested by standard laboratory procedures, ELISA, and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), respectively. The t-test, and Non-parametric tests were performed to examine differences between groups, Pearson's correlation and multiple regression analysis were used to assess the correlations between apoCIII (HDL-associated or nonHDL-associated) and postprandial TG. RESULTS There was a significant increase in TG after a meal compared to fasting status [155.40(96.70-251.07) mg/dl.vs.118.53(83.38-173.29)mg/dl, p 30% compared to baseline TG levels, postprandial HDL-apoCIII was also increased significantly [5.37(3.52-7.02)mg/dl.vs.6.64(4.61-8.86)mg/dl, p = 0.001]. The enrichment of apoCIII in HDL led to changes of TG, cholesterol, free cholesterol, phospholipid and apoAII contents in HDL particles defined by NMR. CONCLUSION Enrichment of apoCIII in HDL particles potentially plays an independent role in postprandial hypertriglyceridemia. Previously, we reported that Dahomey larvae harboring the V161L ND4 mtDNA mutation have reduced proton pumping and higher levels of mitochondrial ROS than Alstonville larvae when they are fed a 12 protein carbohydrate (PC) diet. Machine Learning (ML) algorithms have been proposed as a feasible alternative to the diagnosis of several neurological diseases and disorders, such as AD. An ideal ML-derived diagnosis should be inexpensive and noninvasive while retaining the accuracy and versatility that make ML techniques desirable for medical applications. NEW METHODS Two portable modalities, Electroencephalography (EEG) and functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS) have been widely employed in constructing hybrid classification models to compensate for each other's weaknesses. In this study, we present a hybrid EEG-fNIRS model for classifying four classes of subjects including one healthy control (HC) group, one mild cognitive impairment (MCI) group, and, two AD patient groups. A concurrent EEG-fNIRS setup was used to record data from 29 subjects during a random digit encoding-retrieval task. EEG-derived and fNIRS-derived features were sorted using a Pearson correlation coefficient-based feature selection (PCCFS) strategy and then fed into a linear discriminant analysis (LDA) classifier to evaluate their performance. RESULTS The hybrid EEG-fNIRS feature set was able to achieve a higher accuracy (79.31 %) by integrating their complementary properties, compared to using EEG (65.52 %) or fNIRS alone (58.62 %). Moreover, our results indicate that the right prefrontal and left parietal regions are associated with the progression of AD. The total blood bilirubin level was measured on the fifth day after birth using a sample of the neonatal heel. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS software version 22. In this study P-value less then 0. 05 was considered significant. Results Of the 144 participants, 128 of them completed the intervention. There was no significant difference between the two groups at the level of vitamin C intake through diet, and anthropometric indices, but the total bilirubin level in the neonates of the two groups was statistically different (P = 0.02). Glucosamine (Glu) is the most widely used nutraceutical treatment for OA despite a lack of scientific consensus, therefore alternative nutraceutical treatments are required. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of Lithothamnion species, seawater-derived magnesium and pine bark (Aq+) on pain, symptoms and improve physical function in symptomatic (sKOA), compared to Glu. Methods 358 participants were screened. In a double-blinded crossover pilot-trial, sKOA participant (n = 30) were randomly assigned to either the Glu group (2000 mg day-1) or Aq+ (3056 mg day-1) for 12 weeks (clinicaltrials.govNCT03106584). The Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score was used to assess subjective pain and symptoms. Timed-up-and-Go (TuG) and Six minute walking distance were used to assess functional change and analgesic use was recorded. Results 123 patients (50.6 %) used DHS on a daily basis. Most of them (53.7 %) were using more than one DHS. DHS use was more prevalent in older (OR = 1.02 [1.001-1.036], p = 0.034) and educated (OR = 0.482 [0.252-0.923], p = 0.028) patients. Vitamins & minerals were used mainly to enhance vitality and address laboratory abnormalities, whereas herbal supplements were used mainly for gastrointestinal problems (p less then 0.001). DHS use was reported to the physicians by 42 % of the patients, mostly at the patients' initiative [92 (82.1 %), p less then 0.001)]. Vitamins and minerals were the most reported category of DHS (94 (57.3 %), p less then 0.001). Welchen Beitrag leistet das Wahlfach zur gesamtuniversitären Entwicklung einer Geschlechtersensibilität?Methodik In Projektbeschreibung und Ergebnisteil werden Organisation/ Ablauf, Teilnehmer*innen und Inhalte des Wahlfachs seit Start im Wintersemester 2010/11 vorgestellt. Die Forschungsfragen untersuchen, welchen Auftrag die Lehrveranstaltung auf Fakultätsebene und darüber hinaus erfüllt. Ein Instrument hierbei ist der Vergleich mit anderen Hochschulen. Ergebnisse Lokal stellt das Wahlfach als erste offizielle Studienleistung im klinischen Studienabschnitt den Zusammenhang zwischen den Themen „Geschlechtersensibilität“ und „Karriere“ her. Die Lehrveranstaltung bedient inhaltlich die Geschlechtersensibilität im Fachkontext Medizin und Forschung, die Orientierung im Karrierefeld Medizin und den Gleichstellungsdiskurs. In einer Fakultätsumfrage im WS 2011/12 wünschen knapp ein Drittel der Studierenden eine Angebotserweiterung – bis hin zum eigenständigen Fach "Gender Medizin". Das MiK-Programm implementiert gemeinschaftsorientiertes Lernen und partnerschaftliche Pädagogik, indem Medizinstudenten in ihrem ersten klinischen Jahr die vielfältigen sozialen Gesundheitsdeterminanten vermittelt werden. Entscheidend für die MiK-Inhalte und Schulungsmethoden ist die Diversität (engl. Diversity) der lokalen Region, die sich auch in der jeweiligen Studentenpopulation und den MiK-Mitarbeitern widerspiegelt.Methodik In diesem Bericht wird beschrieben, wie die Mitarbeiter der WSUSoM das MiK-Programm in der Zeit von 2009-2018 gemeinsam mit Partnern aus der Gemeinschaft und Ärzteschaft (niedergelassene Allgemeinmediziner, GPs) konzipiert, vermittelt, bewertet und evaluiert haben. Welchen Beitrag leistet das Wahlfach zur gesamtuniversitären Entwicklung einer Geschlechtersensibilität?Methodik In Projektbeschreibung und Ergebnisteil werden Organisation/ Ablauf, Teilnehmer*innen und Inhalte des Wahlfachs seit Start im Wintersemester 2010/11 vorgestellt. Die Forschungsfragen untersuchen, welchen Auftrag die Lehrveranstaltung auf Fakultätsebene und darüber hinaus erfüllt. Ein Instrument hierbei ist der Vergleich mit anderen Hochschulen. Ergebnisse Lokal stellt das Wahlfach als erste offizielle Studienleistung im klinischen Studienabschnitt den Zusammenhang zwischen den Themen „Geschlechtersensibilität“ und „Karriere“ her. Die Lehrveranstaltung bedient inhaltlich die Geschlechtersensibilität im Fachkontext Medizin und Forschung, die Orientierung im Karrierefeld Medizin und den Gleichstellungsdiskurs. In einer Fakultätsumfrage im WS 2011/12 wünschen knapp ein Drittel der Studierenden eine Angebotserweiterung – bis hin zum eigenständigen Fach "Gender Medizin". Das Wahlfach ist Bestandteil eines Kreislaufes zur Förderung des Gleichstellungsprozesses an der Universität Leipzig.Schlussfolgerung Die Implementierung einer geschlechtersensiblen Lehre an der Medizinischen Fakultät der Universität Leipzig wird durch das Wahlfach initiiert und fortgesetzt. Dimensionen von Behinderung und Vielfalt können im individuellen Leben und gesellschaftlichen Zusammenleben von Menschen zu Benachteiligungen und Ungleichheiten führen. Die DDS untersuchen diese Ungleichheiten und identifizieren intersektionale Zusammenhänge zwischen Diversitätskategorien. Das Konzept der Intersektionalität eröffnet die Sicht auf die Ver-schränkung von Diversitäten, was die Verstärkung von Ungleichheiten und Mehrfachdiskriminierungen zur Folge haben kann bspw. als Frau und als ethnische Minderheit. Wir haben daher untersucht, wie LGBTQI+-Gesundheitsthemen in den medizinischen Lehrplan der Amsterdam UMC-VUmc integriert werden, indem wir den zweijährigen Kurs „Sex, Sexualität und Beziehungen“ für LGBTQI+-Inhalte evaluierten.Methoden und Design Wir haben die schriftlichen Kursinhalte (Lehrplan, Vorlesungsfolien und Kursliteratur) der Lehrveranstaltung 2016-2017 begutachtet. Wir verwendeten wesentliche LGBTQI+-Inhalte in der medizinischen Ausbildung als Rahmen und einen intersektionalen Ansatz, um zu untersuchen, welche LGBTQI+-Themen und Unterthemen angesprochen wurden.Ergebnisse Einige grundlegende LGBTQI+-Gesundheitsthemen wurden angeieren und zu einem medizinischen Klima beitragen, in dem sowohl LGBTQI+-Patient*innen, Studierende als auch Ärzt*innen ihre Identität verbergen. Das MiK-Programm implementiert gemeinschaftsorientiertes Lernen und partnerschaftliche Pädagogik, indem Medizinstudenten in ihrem ersten klinischen Jahr die vielfältigen sozialen Gesundheitsdeterminanten vermittelt werden. Entscheidend für die MiK-Inhalte und Schulungsmethoden ist die Diversität (engl. Diversity) der lokalen Region, die sich auch in der jeweiligen Studentenpopulation und den MiK-Mitarbeitern widerspiegelt.Methodik In diesem Bericht wird beschrieben, wie die Mitarbeiter der WSUSoM das MiK-Programm in der Zeit von 2009-2018 gemeinsam mit Partnern aus der Gemeinschaft und Ärzteschaft (niedergelassene Allgemeinmediziner, GPs) konzipiert, vermittelt, bewertet und evaluiert haben. The dynamics of drop merging was calculated by equating the capillary force driving the coalescence, and the Stokes viscous force slowing it down. For the latter, an approximation of moving oblate spheroids permitting exact calculations was used. The time evolution of the height of the neck between the coalescing drops and that of their lateral size are in good agreement with experiments.The asymptotic expansion method is used to derive analytical expressions for the equations of state of 14 hard polyhedron fluids such as cube, octahedron, rhombic dodecahedron, etc., by knowing the values of only the first eight virial coefficients. The facile derivatizations and utilizations of the chiral products as novel chiral organocatalysts demonstrate the value of these reactions.Effective treatment of brain metastases is hindered by the blood-brain barrier (BBB) and the rapid development of resistance to drug therapy. Moreover, the clinical application of general formulations is hampered by biological barriers and biological elimination. To tackle this challenge, we report a feasible approach for the assembly of polymer-covalent organic framework (COF) nanocomposites into 150 nm thin platelets as a drug delivery vehicle for enhanced retention in brain tumours. Using intravital imaging, we demonstrate that these polymer-COF nanocomposites are able to traverse the BBB in **** and achieve direct tumour accumulation in intracranial orthotopic models of brain metastasis from renal cancer (BMRC). These nanocomposites can target brain tumour cells and respond to tumour microenvironmental characteristics, including acidic and redox conditions. Intracranial tumour acidity triggers the breakdown of the nanoassemblies to polymer-COF nanocomposites due to the presence of borate bonds. To better understand the mechanism of the micellization process of salt-free catanionic surfactants, alkyltrimethylammonium alkanecarboxylates, [CxMe3N]+[Cy]-, with medium to long alkyl chains on both cation and anion (x,y = 6-10), were investigated in aqueous solution by density and zeta potential measurements, isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC), and dielectric relaxation spectroscopy (DRS). The obtained ITC data was analysed with the help of a two-step model equation, yielding the thermodynamic parameters, micelle charge and aggregation numbers. Comparison with the "parent" decyltrimethylammonium chloride and sodium decanoate reveals that combined dehydration of both alkyl chains increases entropy upon micellization. In the first step neutral smaller micelles with partly dehydrated alkyl chains are formed, while in the second step larger charged micelles with fully dehydrated alkyl chains are equally favourable. At low temperature both formations are thermodynamically equivalent, while with increasing temperature neutral micelles become more entropically favourable and charged micelles more enthalpically favourable. The resulting average micelle charge and average aggregation number are decreasing with temperature. From the DRS spectra, effective hydration numbers of the free monomers and micelles were deduced and are comparable to the "parent" cationic surfactant micelles.Recent studies suggest chain adsorption in the melt may be responsible for a number of property changes in thin films by making correlations between the residual adsorbed layer thickness hads(t) measured after a given solvent washing procedure as a function of annealing time t of the film at an elevated temperature prior to this solvent rinse. This procedure, frequently called "Guiselin's experiment", refers to the thought experiment proposed in a 1992 theoretical treatment by Guiselin that assumed chain segments in contact with the surface are irreversibly adsorbed whereby unadsorbed chains could be washed away by solvent without disturbing the adsorbed substrate contact points in the melt. In the present work, we review this recent literature, identifying and experimentally testing a common protocol for forming adsorbed layers hads(t) from solvent washing melt films. We find hads(t) curves to be far less reproducible and reliable than implied in the literature, strongly dependent on solvent washing and substrate cleaning conditions, and annealing at elevated temperatures is unnecessary as densification of films sitting at room temperature makes the glassy film harder to wash off, leaving behind hads of comparable thickness. This review also summarizes literature understanding developed over several decades of study on polymer adsorption in solution, which experimentally demonstrated that polymer chains in solution are highly mobile, diffusing and exchanging on the surface even in the limit of strong adsorption, contradicting Guiselin's assumption. Preformed adsorbed layers of different thicknesses hads are shown to not affect the average glass transition temperature or physical aging of 30 nm thick films. In summary, a number of open questions and implications are discussed related to thin films and polymer nanocomposites.
