The 35 initially proposed sounds were assessed using a five-grade scale. These sounds included those that would be heard in a number of situations in which a person with a visual impairment could potentially be found, both at home and, for example, while in the street or at an office. During the consultations, people with visual impairment usually rated the sounds proposed for inclusion in the set of sound exercises as highly relevant or relevant. In most cases, the assessment was analogous regardless of whether the person had a visual impairment since birth or developed it relatively recently. There were also more than 100 sounds that were proposed for inclusion in the set. The relationship between TNFRSF1A rs767455 genotypes and patients' features was investigated. Results A greater distribution of the TT genotype among cachectic patients in contrast to non-cachectic individuals was found (TT frequencies of 62.9% and 37.1%, respectively; p = 0.013). We noted a significantly lower albumin concentration (p = 0.039) and higher C-reactive protein (CRP) levels (p = 0.019) in patients with the TT genotype. Regarding cardiac parameters, CHF individuals bearing the TT genotype demonstrated a significant reduction in ejection fraction (EF) (p = 0.033) in contrast to other genotype carriers; moreover, they had a significantly higher concentration of N-terminal prohormone of brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) in the blood (p = 0.018). We also noted a lower frequency of TT genotype carriers among individuals qualified as grades I or II of the New York Heart Association (NYHA) (p = 0.006). The multivariable analysis selected the TT genotype as an unfavorable factor related to a higher chance of cachexia in CHF patients (Odds ratio (OR) = 2.56; p = 0.036). The nucleotide sequence variation, phylogenetic and secondary structure analysis was carried out incorporating respective regions of so far recorded Sri Lankan and the reference genotype strains of the DENV3 and DENV1 serotypes. The human- and mosquito-derived domain II, 3' UTR were identical in nucleotide sequences within the serotypes isolated, indicating the conserved nature of the region during host switch. The sequence analysis revealed distinct variations in study isolates compared to so far recorded Sri Lankan isolates. However, despite single nucleotide variations, the maintenance of structural integrity was evident in related strains within the serotypes in the secondary structure analysis. The capacity of children with hemiplegia to be engaged in anticipatory action planning is affected. There is no balance among spatial, proprioceptive and visual information, thus altering the affected upper limb visuomotor coordination. The objective of the present study was to assess the improvement in visuomotor coordination after the application of a unimanual intensive therapy program, with the use of unaffected hand containment compared with not using unaffected hand containment.
A simple blind randomized clinical trial was realized. A total of 16 subjects with congenital infantile hemiplegia participated in the study with an age mean of 5.54 years old (SD1.55). Two intensive protocols for 5 weeks of modified constraint-induced movement therapy (mCIMT) or unimanual therapy without containment (UTWC) were executed 5 days per week (2 h/day). A drawback of software that is used to quantify the cerebral blood flow is that it oftentimes assumes a static arterial luminal area over the cardiac cycle. Quantifying the lumen area pulsatility index (aPI), i.e. the change in lumen area due to an increase in distending pressure over the cardiac cycle, can provide insight in the stiffness of the arteries. Arterial stiffness has received increased attention as a predictor in the development of cerebrovascular disease. In this study, we introduce software that allows for measurement of the aPI as well as the blood flow velocity pulsatility index (vPI) from 4D PC-MRI. The internal carotid arteries of seven volunteers were imaged using 7 T MRI. Twenty articles were identified and included for review. Key themes included impacts on HIV care access/telehealth; stress and mental health; social isolation and loneliness; food insecurity; changes to sexual behaviour; changes to substance use; impacts on income, education and employment; and racial and social inequality. Results from this review can help guide research into areas where it is needed to help minimise the negative social impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
4D phase contrast magnetic resonance imaging (PC-MRI) allows for the visualization and quantification of the cerebral blood flow. A drawback of software that is used to quantify the cerebral blood flow is that it oftentimes assumes a static arterial luminal area over the cardiac cycle. Quantifying the lumen area pulsatility index (aPI), i.e. the change in lumen area due to an increase in distending pressure over the cardiac cycle, can provide insight in the stiffness of the arteries. Arterial stiffness has received increased attention as a predictor in the development of cerebrovascular disease. In this study, we introduce software that allows for measurement of the aPI as well as the blood flow velocity pulsatility index (vPI) from 4D PC-MRI. The internal carotid arteries of seven volunteers were imaged using 7 T MRI. Evidence shows the relationship between cholestasis and neuroinflammation. Cholestasis via attenuating mitochondrial biogenesis and anti-oxidant activity can induce neuroinflammation and apoptosis. Mitochondrial transcriptional factor A (TFAM) and Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ coactivator-1α (PGC-1α) are involved in mitochondrial biogenesis, and TFAM, PGC-1α, Catalase (CAT), and Superoxide dismutase (SOD) have a role in upregulating antioxidant pathways. On the other hand, many studies have shown the neuroprotective effects of Crocin, the water-soluble carotenoid of Saffron (Crocus sativus L.). In this study, we aimed to investigate the effect of Crocin on the level of TFAM, PGC-1α, CAT, and SOD following cholestasis-induced neuroinflammation in the rat's striatum. Cholestasis was induced by BDL surgery and administration of Crocin was intraperitoneal, at the dose of 30 mg/kg every day, 24 h after BDL surgery up to thirty days. The results showed that TFAM, PGC-1α, and SOD were decreased following cholestasis; while, CAT was increased. In addition, Crocin restored the effects of cholestasis on the level of TFAM, PGC-1α, and SOD. Gender and ethnic differences exist in suicidal ideation, plan, and attempt among adolescents in the U.S. However, limited research has used theoretically-informed approaches to integrate how cultural and classic risk factors together account for suicide-related pathways among vulnerable populations. Informed by the interpersonal theory of suicide, the present cross-sectional study examined gender differences in the association between a cultural (i.e., discrimination) and classic (i.e., depressive symptomatology) risk factor, and suicidality among youth of Latin American heritage.
A total of 390 Latinx adolescents (ages 13-18; 50% female) attending a high school in Southern California, U.S.A. completed a series of questionnaires that included measures of depressive symptoms, suicidality (including ideation, past attempts, and likelihood of future behavior), perceived discrimination, and demographics.
We found that discrimination was associated with increased suicidality among Latinx adolescents. The dilights the importance of drawing on theory-driven and culturally informed work that incorporates classic and cultural correlates of suicidality among diverse subpopulations.Despite a large body of work exploring associations between perceived norms and drinking and norms-based interventions for drinking, less work has examined moderators of associations between norms and drinking outcomes to determine potential sub-groups that might benefit most from brief norms-based interventions. The present study investigates shyness as a moderator of associations between drinking norms and alcohol use. We hypothesized that shyness would moderate associations between drinking norms and alcohol use such that individuals who are higher in shyness might be more sensitive to social influence and thus show stronger associations between drinking norms and alcohol use. Participants included 250 college students (70% female; 44.5% White/Caucasian) aged 18-26 (M = 21.02, SD = 2.16) who met heavy drinking criteria (4/5 drinks on one or more occasions in the past month for women/men). Participants completed measures of demographics, shyness, alcohol use, alcohol-related problems, and drinking norms remotely at baseline and one-month follow-up (N = 169). Drinking norms were negatively associated with shyness and positively associated with baseline and follow-up drinking. In accordance with the "resilience paradigm", this study was aimed at exploring the role of the parent-child relationship in supporting internationally adopted adolescents' ability to develop a strong adoptive identity and a feeling of satisfaction with their own life.
Participants were 105 Italian adopted adolescents (13-17 years) asked to complete a self-report questionnaire.
Results showed that adolescents generally feel fairly comfortable discussing adoption-related issues (especially with their mothers), have a medium-high level of adoptive identity, and appear to be quite satisfied with their life. Moreover, while adoptive identity mediates the association between openness in communication regarding adoption and adoptees' well-being with mothers, father-child communication openness has a direct influence on well-being.
Findings highlighted that the quality of mother-child and father-child relationship plays a crucial role in guiding the process of adoptees' identity formation and influencing their well-being. Recommendations for professionals working with adoptive families were discussed.

Different physiologic antigen concentrations, their affinity, and valency for the IgE ligand produce distinct intracellular signaling events with different outcomes. Investigating mast cell degranulation has revealed a complex molecular machinery that relays proximal signaling to cytoskeletal reorganization, granule transport and membrane fusion. Several new phosphorylation- and calcium-responsive effectors have been described. FcεRI signaling also promotes de novo gene transcription. Recent progress has identified enhancers at genes that are upregulated in mast cells after stimulation through FcεRI using next generation sequencing methods. Enhancers at genes that respond to antigenic stimulation in human mast cells revealed Ca2+-dependency. Stimulation-responsive super enhancers in mouse mast cells have also been identified. Mast cell lineage-determining transcription factor GATA2 primes these enhancers to respond to antigenic stimulation.
Approximately 165 million children aged <5 years are at risk of low height-for-age. This study explored whether water quality and distance to water source affected short- and long-term growth, and the critical time windows of such effects.
This study used data from the China Health and Nutrition Survey (CHNS), which was a cohort study performed in 15 Chinese provinces.
Data from the CHNS between 1989 and 2011 were examined. Three cohorts of children who were enrolled at 0-2 years of age in 1989, 1993, and 2000 provided sufficient data for this study. Child height was measured by physicians, and household water supply, including the water quality (safe or unsafe) and distance to the source (in-yard or out-yard), was assessed using a questionnaire when the children were 0-2, 4-6, and 11-13 years of age. Multiple regressions were performed to analyse the associations between water quality and distance to the source at various ages, and height at that age and older ages, with and without adjusting for the household water supply at previous ages.

This review focuses on highly sensitive chemoresistive type sensors based on doped-SnO2, RhO, ZnO-Ca, Smx-CoFe2-xO4 semiconductors used to detect toxic gases (H2, CO, NO2) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) (e.g., acetone, ethanol) in monitoring of gaseous markers in the breath of patients with specific pathologies and for environmental pollution control. Interesting results about the monitoring of biochemical substances as dopamine, epinephrine, serotonin and glucose have been also reported using electrochemical sensors based on hybrid MOX nanocomposite modified glassy carbon and screen-printed carbon electrodes. The fundamental sensing mechanisms and commercial limitations of the MOX-based electrical and electrochemical sensors are discussed providing research directions to bridge the existing gap between new sensing concepts and real-world analytical applications.Preterm birth is the leading cause of death in newborns and the survivors are prone to health complications. Threatened preterm labor (TPL) is the most common cause of hospitalization in the second half of pregnancy. The current methods used in clinical practice to diagnose preterm labor, the Bishop score or cervical length, have high negative predictive values but not positive ones. In this work we analyzed the performance of computationally efficient classification algorithms, based on electrohysterographic recordings (EHG), such as random forest (RF), extreme learning machine (ELM) and K-nearest neighbors (KNN) for imminent labor ( less then 7 days) prediction in women with TPL, using the 50th or 10th-90th percentiles of temporal, spectral and nonlinear EHG parameters with and without obstetric data inputs. Two criteria were assessed for the classifier design F1-score and sensitivity. RFF1_2 and ELMF1_2 provided the highest F1-score values in the validation dataset, (88.17 ± 8.34% and 90.2 ± 4.43%) with the 50th percentile of EHG and obstetric inputs. ELMF1_2 outperformed RFF1_2 in sensitivity, being similar to those of ELMSens (sensitivity optimization). The 10th-90th percentiles did not provide a significant improvement over the 50th percentile. KNN performance was highly sensitive to the input dataset, with a high generalization capability.Today's wireless sensor networks expect to receive increasingly more data from different sources. The Time Slotted Channel Hopping (TSCH) protocol defined in the IEEE 802.15.4-2015 version of the IEEE 802.15.4 standard plays a crucial role in reducing latency and minimizing energy consumption. In the case of convergecast traffic, nodes close to the root have consistently heavy traffic and suffer from severe network congestion problems. In this paper, we propose OSCAR, an novel autonomous scheduling TSCH cell allocation algorithm based on Orchestra. This new design differs from Orchestra by allocating slots according to the location of the node relative to the root. The goal of this algorithm is to allocate slots to nodes according to their needs. This algorithm manages the number of timeslots allocated to each node using the value of the rank described by the RPL routing protocol. The goal is that the closer the node is to the root, the more slots it gets in order to maximize the transmission opportunities. To avoid overconsumption, OSCAR sets up a mechanism to adjust the radio duty cycle of each node by reducing the slots allocated to inactive nodes regardless of their position in the network. We implement OSCAR on Contiki-ng and evaluate its performance by both simulations and experimentation. The performance assessment of OSCAR shows that it outperforms Orchestra on the average latency and reliability, without significantly increasing the average duty cycle, especially when the traffic load is high.One of the characteristic features of tunneling magnetoresistance (TMR) sensors is a strong influence of bias voltage on tunneling current. Since fundamental sensing characteristics of the sensors are primarily determined by the tunneling current, the bias voltage should impact these characteristics. Previous research has indeed showed the influence of the bias voltage on the magnetic field detection and sensitivity. However, the effect has not been investigated for nonlinearity and hysteresis and the influence of bias voltage polarity has not yet been addressed. Therefore, this paper systematically investigates the dependence of field sensitivity, nonlinearity, hysteresis and magnetic field detection of CoFeB/MgO/CoFeB-based magnetoresistance sensors on bias voltage magnitude and polarity. The sensitivity and field detection of all sensors improved significantly with the bias, whereas the nonlinearity and hysteresis deteriorated. The sensitivity increased considerably (up to 32 times) and linearly with bias up to 0.6 V. The field detection also decreased substantially (up 3.9 times) with bias and exhibited the minimum values for the same magnitude under both polarities. Significant and linear increases with bias were also observed for nonlinearity (up to 26 times) and hysteresis (up to 33 times). Moreover, not only the voltage magnitude but also the polarity had a significant effect on the sensing characteristics. Threatened preterm labor (TPL) is the most common cause of hospitalization in the second half of pregnancy. The current methods used in clinical practice to diagnose preterm labor, the Bishop score or cervical length, have high negative predictive values but not positive ones. In this work we analyzed the performance of computationally efficient classification algorithms, based on electrohysterographic recordings (EHG), such as random forest (RF), extreme learning machine (ELM) and K-nearest neighbors (KNN) for imminent labor ( less then 7 days) prediction in women with TPL, using the 50th or 10th-90th percentiles of temporal, spectral and nonlinear EHG parameters with and without obstetric data inputs. Two criteria were assessed for the classifier design F1-score and sensitivity. RFF1_2 and ELMF1_2 provided the highest F1-score values in the validation dataset, (88.17 ± 8.34% and 90.2 ± 4.43%) with the 50th percentile of EHG and obstetric inputs. ELMF1_2 outperformed RFF1_2 in sensitivity, being similar to those of ELMSens (sensitivity optimization). The 10th-90th percentiles did not provide a significant improvement over the 50th percentile. In the case of convergecast traffic, nodes close to the root have consistently heavy traffic and suffer from severe network congestion problems. In this paper, we propose OSCAR, an novel autonomous scheduling TSCH cell allocation algorithm based on Orchestra. This new design differs from Orchestra by allocating slots according to the location of the node relative to the root. The goal of this algorithm is to allocate slots to nodes according to their needs. This algorithm manages the number of timeslots allocated to each node using the value of the rank described by the RPL routing protocol. The goal is that the closer the node is to the root, the more slots it gets in order to maximize the transmission opportunities. To avoid overconsumption, OSCAR sets up a mechanism to adjust the radio duty cycle of each node by reducing the slots allocated to inactive nodes regardless of their position in the network. We implement OSCAR on Contiki-ng and evaluate its performance by both simulations and experimentation. Therefore, this paper systematically investigates the dependence of field sensitivity, nonlinearity, hysteresis and magnetic field detection of CoFeB/MgO/CoFeB-based magnetoresistance sensors on bias voltage magnitude and polarity. The sensitivity and field detection of all sensors improved significantly with the bias, whereas the nonlinearity and hysteresis deteriorated. The sensitivity increased considerably (up to 32 times) and linearly with bias up to 0.6 V. The field detection also decreased substantially (up 3.9 times) with bias and exhibited the minimum values for the same magnitude under both polarities. Significant and linear increases with bias were also observed for nonlinearity (up to 26 times) and hysteresis (up to 33 times). Moreover, not only the voltage magnitude but also the polarity had a significant effect on the sensing characteristics. The melanins are then transferred from melanocytes to keratinocytes, where they accumulate perinuclearly in membrane-bound organelles as a "cap" above the nucleus. The mechanism of transfer, the nature of the pigmented organelles within keratinocytes, and the mechanism governing their intracellular positioning are all debated and poorly understood, but likely play an important role in the photoprotective properties of melanin in the skin. We then describe how environmental and social influences introduce further complexities to the geometry of signaling. We discuss how multimodality offers new challenges and opportunities for signalers and receivers. We conclude with recommendations and future directions made visible by attention to the geometry of signaling.
Increasing evidence suggests that aortic valve (AV) repair may have better long-term outcomes than AV replacement for aortic insufficiency. However, most literature is limited to centres of excellence and has not sufficiently been replicated in nascent programs. This single-centre experience of a newly established AV repair program aims to compare short-term outcomes of AV sparing versus replacement surgery.
A retrospective cohort study of patients who underwent elective surgery for aortic regurgitation or aortic root dilatation at the Leuven University Hospital between 2013 and 2018 was performed. Patients with a critically ill presentation, endocarditis, aortic stenosis or requiring redo surgery were excluded. Patients were assigned to repair versus replacement based on preoperative intention to preserve the AV. Nearest neighbour propensity score matching was performed to compare both groups. Safety (mortality, morbidity), efficiency (cross-clamp and bypass times) and efficacy end points (repair rate, postoperative echocardiography) were compared.
One hundred and seven patients underwent AV surgery (48 repair, 59 replacement), from which 2 groups of 23 matched patients were created. There were 1 death and 2 reoperations after repair and no death and 1 reoperation after replacement. Extracorporeal circulation and aortic cross-clamp time were significantly longer while ventilation and total hospital stay were significantly shorter after AV repair. Echocardiographic follow-up showed comparable aortic regurgitation but lower transvalvular gradients after repair. Freedom from major complications was comparable in both cohorts.

Transoesophageal echocardiography and coronary computed tomography angiography revealed a long ingrowing vegetation into the right coronary artery. Emergency surgical resection of the vegetation and aortic valve replacement was performed successfully without distal embolism of the vegetation.Informal payments for healthcare are widespread in sub-Saharan Africa. They are often regressive, potentially limiting access to quality healthcare, particularly for the most vulnerable, and can have catastrophic consequences for households. Yet there is little empirical research that uses theory-driven hypotheses to explore what influences informal payments and, especially, from health workers' perspectives. Consequently, we have explored the characteristics of health workers and facilities influencing informal payments in Tanzania, examining two hypotheses health workers with power and position in the system are more likely to receive informal payments, and transparency and accountability measures can be bypassed by those who can game the system. We conducted a cross-sectional survey of 432 health workers from 42 public health facilities (hospitals and health centres) in 12 district councils from Pwani and Dar es Salam regions in Tanzania. Our dependent variable was whether the health worker has ever asked for or been given informal payments or bribes, while explanatory variables were measured at the individual and facility level.

Emotional competence (EC) via anxiety and depressive symptoms impacts the postoperative health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of esophageal and gastric cancer patients after surgery.
The aim of this study was to confirm the involvement of emotional processes in postsurgery HRQoL according to the presence or absence of neoadjuvant treatments.
After diagnosis (T1) and after surgery (T2), 271 patients completed 3 questionnaires, assessing their intrapersonal and interpersonal EC, HRQoL, and anxiety and depressive symptoms. Patients were categorized into 2 groups patients with only surgery (group 1) and patients who received neoadjuvant treatment in addition to surgery (group 2). Analyses were based on hierarchical regression analyses and the SPSS PROCESS Macro to test the indirect effect of EC on HRQoL through anxiety and depression.
Results showed an increase in depressive symptoms and a decrease in both anxiety symptoms and HRQoL between diagnosis and surgery, regardless of neoadjuvant treatment. At T1 and T2, EC predicted fewer anxiety and depressive symptoms and a less impaired HRQoL in the surgery-only group (group 1). Emotional competence, particularly intrapersonal EC, showed a significant indirect effect on HRQoL after surgery via fewer depressive symptoms.

A cross-sectional survey was conducted from November 2019 to April 2020 in Changchun, Jilin Province, China. The Medical Care Satisfaction Scale and SERVQUAL were used to quantify women's satisfaction with doctors and nurses, respectively.
Women's satisfaction with doctors (68.81 ± 11.08; range, 20-100) and with nurses (87.64 ± 16.17; range, 22-110) was moderate. Compared with women who had not participated in screening within the past 2 years, screened women reported higher satisfaction with doctors (P = .026) and nurses (P = .012). Older age (P = .004) was an independent predictor of women's satisfaction with doctors. Similarly, women's education level (P = .049), chronic disease history (P = .029), and physical examination history (P = .039) were 3 independent predictors of women's satisfaction with nurses.
Future intervention strategies can not only increase the screening rates by providing existing intervention methods but also improve women's satisfaction with healthcare providers to promote screening practices.

Hematological cancer impacts both patients and their caregivers. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemics, masking policies have been advocated. While masks are known to prevent transmission towards other individuals, it is unclear if different types of facial masks can protect the user from inhalation. The present study compares in-vitro different commercial and custom-made facial masks at different distances and breathing patterns.
Masks were placed on a head mannequin connected to a lung simulator, using a collecting filter placed after the mannequin airway. Certified, commercial and custom-made masks were tested at three different distances between the emitter and the mannequin 40 cm, 80 cm and 120 cm. Two patterns of breathing were used, simulating normal and polypneic respiration. A solution of methylene blue was nebulized with a jet nebulizer and different mask-distance-breathing pattern combinations were tested. The primary endpoint was the inhaled fraction, defined as the amount of methylene blue detected with spectrophotometry expressed as percent of thes resulted relevantly less inhalation compared to distancing alone, only high-grade certified devices (FFP3 and the combination of FFP2 + surgical mask) ensured negligible inhaled fraction in all conditions.Essential genes, which form the basis of life activities, are crucial for the survival of organisms. We utilized effectiveness and comparative effectiveness emulated trials using retrospective cohort data from electronic medical records. Participants were veterans with PTSD initiating mental healthcare (N = 265 566). Here we review evidence suggesting that epigenetic therapeutics can deactivate immunosuppressive gene expression or reprogram tumor cells to activate antigen presentation mechanisms. In addition, the dysregulation of epigenetic mechanisms commonly observed in cancer may alter the immunogenicity of tumor cells and effectiveness of immunotherapies.

Adolescent mothers in Zimbabwe often experience stigma, isolation, and lack coping skills and resources to successfully navigate motherhood. Social isolation and stigma are linked to poor mental health outcomes. No interventions currently address mental health of adolescent mothers in Zimbabwe. Peer support groups in other contexts have been effective at increasing social connectedness, self-esteem, and self-efficacy, providing coping mechanisms to manage stigma experiences, in addition to empowering and improving mental health of adolescents and adolescent mothers. To develop a community-based peer support intervention, we aimed to understand the unique needs of adolescent mothers, how peer support groups could address those needs, and the feasibility of implementing the intervention.
Focus group discussions were conducted with 86 adolescent mothers aged 14-18 years, 24 community health workers, and 25 key community stakeholders in a low-income high-density community in Harare. Data were analyzed thematiolescent mothers, community health workers and key community stakeholders welcomed the peer support groups as a feasible way to address the mothers' needs.
The Surgery As Needed for Oesophageal cancer (SANO) trial compares active surveillance with standard oesophagectomy for patients with a clinically complete response (cCR) to neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy. The last patient with a clinically complete response is expected to be included in May 2021. The purpose of this update is to present all amendments to the SANO trial protocol as approved by the Institutional Research Board (IRB) before accrual is completed.

In the active surveillance arm, CREs are repeated every 3 months in the first year, every 4 months in the second year, every 6 months in the third year, and yte 2023. If active surveillance plus surgery as needed after neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy for oesophageal cancer leads to non-inferior overall survival compared to standard oesophagectomy, active surveillance can be implemented as a standard of care.In its new roadmap for neglected tropical diseases, the World Health Organization proposes three important strategic shifts (i) Stronger accountability which shifting from process to impact indicators; (ii) Intensified cross-cutting approaches; and (iii) Stronger country ownership. Emergency intubation is an inherent risk of procedural sedation regimens for endovascular treatment (EVT) of acute ischemic stroke. We aimed to characterize the subgroup of patients, who had to be emergently intubated, to identify predictors of the need for intubation and assess their outcomes.
This is a retrospective analysis of the single-center study KEEP SIMPLEST, which evaluated a new in-house SOP for EVT under primary procedural sedation. We used descriptive statistics and regression models to examine predictors and functional outcome of emergently intubated patients.
Twenty of 160 (12.5%) patients were emergently intubated. National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) on admission, premorbid modified Rankin scale (mRS), Alberta Stroke Program Early CT Score, age and side of occlusion were not associated with need for emergency intubation. We used descriptive statistics and regression models to examine predictors and functional outcome of emergently intubated patients. Twenty of 160 (12.5%) patients were emergently intubated. Data from height and weight measurements conducted by teachers in the third term of school year 2013 were collected from primary schools. Teachers were trained by experts before starting the measurements. The z-scores of height-for-age, weight-for-age, and BMI-for-age were calculated using AnthroPlus, and nutritional status was defined according to the WHO guidelines.
Data analyzed from 7,447 pupils (3,763 boys and 3,684 girls) showed that 12.4% were stunted and 7.8% were underweight among those ≤ 120 months old, and 11.7% were thinness among those > 120 months old. Boys were more likely to be stunted than girls. Boys were more likely to be underweight and girls were more likely to be overweight in the older age group.

To explore the efficacy of non-invasive blood pressure monitors on reducing clinical complications of peripheral intravenous catheters in renal transplant recipients.
A peripheral intravenous catheter is a regular route of medication administration, but the incidence of complications such as infiltration, occlusion and phlebitis perpetuates in the clinical setting.
This was a cohort study.
Patients were placed naturally into observation group or control group according to whether or not the two procedures (non-invasive blood pressure monitoring and peripheral intravenous catheters indwelling) were on the same arm. Univariate test and Cox regression model were used to estimate relative risk factors. The STROBE checklist was used to guide the submission.
We identified 177 kidney recipient patients during the perioperative period with 440 peripheral intravenous catheters. There were incidences of 112 (25.5%) phlebitis, 137 (31.1%) occlusion and 150 (31.8%) infiltration. There was no significant differeving a peripheral intravenous catheter, especially in some special circumstances in the clinical practice or when good prevention procedures are implemented.

Multicentre cross-sectional descriptive study.
A validated questionnaire addressing malnutrition was used. A total of 1,135 questionnaires were sent to hospital and home care nurses. The STROBE statement was followed for reporting.
The response rate was 49% (n=556). Of all the nurses, 37% perceived the prevalence of malnutrition among their care recipients between 10% and 25%. Two previous studies have examined the association between subthreshold depression and self-care behaviours in T2D, reported observations were inconsistent.
