Purpose Children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) without intellectual disability (ID) exhibit social and motor impairments and circumscribed interests/behaviors that contribute to lower physical activity (PA) levels. Despite the need for exercise interventions for these children, there is a dearth of evidence-based treatments. This study tested the feasibility of a high-intensity exercise program for children with ASD without ID, and associated changes in physical performance. Method Fifty-eight children, ages 7-12 with ASD without ID participated. The intervention (5 weeks, 19 sessions, 60 mins ea.) was conducted during the summer. Each session was manualized (operationalized instructional procedure and curriculum) and targeted components of fitness and motor performance using skill development exercises, workouts, and game-related activities. Feasibility was assessed via fidelity (implementation accuracy), satisfaction surveys, attrition, and injuries. Physical performance was tested at baseline and posttest using measures of work production (completed rounds of an exercise circuit) and within-session activity levels (time in moderate-to-vigorous PA), and six exercise tests (sit and reach, push-ups, sit-ups, air squats, long jump, and PACER). Results Results indicated high levels of fidelity (93.7%) and child and staff satisfaction, and no attrition or injuries, supporting the feasibility, tolerability, and safety of the protocol. Significant increases were found in work production and activity levels (ds 0.83 and 1.05, respectively) and on three exercise tests (sit ups, air squats, and long jump; ds 0.29-0.37). Conclusion The exercise program was feasible and safe, and completion was associated with significant improvements in multiple areas of performance; a randomized controlled trial appears warranted.Large bilateral contusions of the T10 thoracic spinal cord were performed in 16 adult cats using a calibrated impactor. EMG and video recordings allowed weekly assessments of key locomotor parameters during treadmill training for 5 weeks. 35 days post-contusion, several hindlimb locomotor parameters were very similar to the pre-lesion ones despite some long-term deficits such as paw drag and disrupted fore-hindlimb coupling. 9/10 tested cats could step over obstacles placed on the treadmill. Our findings suggest that hindlimb stepping largely resulted from the activity of spinal locomotor circuits which gradually recovered autonomy week after week. Our histological and electrophysiological evidence indicated that the persistence of specific deficits or else the maintenance of specific functions were related to the integrity of specific supraspinal and propriospinal pathways. The composite specimens were then subjected to postconditioning Ra testing using an optical three-dimensional surface analyzer (G4e, Alicona Imaging GmbH, Raaba, Austria). Inter-medium and inter-material comparisons were performed with one-way analysis of variance and post hoc Bonferroni test at a significance level of α=0.05. Mean Ra values ranged from 0.086 ± 0.004 μm to 0.153 ± 0.005 μm for the various material/medium combinations. For all materials, conditioning in air (control) and distilled water generally resulted in significantly lower mean Ra than exposure to other dietary solvents. Conditioning in citric acid presented the roughest surfaces for FZ, CM, and CS. For LU, HC, and VE, exposure to lactic acid, heptane, and ethanol solution resulted in the highest mean Ra. Regardless of conditioning media, FZ had the highest and VE the lowest mean Ra compared with other composites. The ***/CAM composites remained susceptible to surface degradation by dietary solvents despite their industrial polymerization.

Vestibular evoked myogenic potentials (VEMPs) have an accepted role in the diagnosis of the superior semicircular canal dehiscence (SSCD) syndrome. The current impression is that ocular VEMPs (oVEMPs) are more sensitive than cervical VEMPs (cVEMPs) for detecting a SSCD and that oVEMP testing in response to air conducted sound provides an excellent screening test without risk of radiation exposure from computerized tomography (CT).

Head and neck manifestations are particularly uncommon. Challenges exist in diagnosis, management, and recurrence. Achieving local control, particularly in the head and neck region, is difficult. We present a patient with a rapidly enlarging MPNST on the right parietal calvarium shortly after resection of a right vagus nerve MPNST. Recommendation was made for excision and reconstruction with a local advancement flap followed by radiation therapy. Local control with good aesthetic outcome was achieved by applying recommended surgical and oncologic principles.
Human papilloma virus (HPV)-associated oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) treatment outcomes are re-defining management. Traditional margins, the role of extranodal extension (ENE) and adjuvant treatment intensity continue to be debated. This study aimed to determine the impact of margins, ENE and adjuvant therapy on survival following transoral robotic surgery (TORS).
Patients treated with TORS at an academic center were retrospectively identified (2013-2019). Survival outcomes were evaluated using Kaplan-Meier curves.
48 patients were included. 40 (83%) were male. Mean age was 61.2years. 43 (90%) were stage I. 22 (45.8%) had ENE. 31 (65%) had margins >1mm. 38 (79%) had indications for radiation therapy; 9 (24%) refused. Chemotherapy was recommended in 36 (75%) patients; 24 (67%) refused. Locoregional control was 98%, metastasis-free survival was 96%, and disease-specific survival was 100% at 5-years. Overall survival was 95%.

Tracheostomy management is a routine aspect of care in the critical care setting. While there are multiple complications that can arise in the post-operative setting after creation of a tracheostomy, dislodgement of a tracheostomy tube is associated with high mortality requiring rapid intervention. This is a retrospective study with data collected from 1355 consecutive tracheostomy cases at a single institution. Our institution serves the County of San Bernardino, California as a level II trauma center. Patient selection occurred between 2004 and 2018, with distribution of patients to skin-sutured with neck tie tracheostomies (ST) and non-sutured neck tied only tracheostomies (NST) groups occurring by date of tracheostomy surgehas been no study investigating dislodgement in the early post-operative period in relation to tracheostomy securement method.
Due to the emergent nature of tracheostomy dislodgement and loss of airway, prevention of this complication is critical. Our investigation found no statistically significant difference in the rate of early tracheostomy dislodgement in the skin sutured with neck tie and non-sutured neck tie only groups. This study contributes further data to the available literature regarding tracheostomy securement methods and dislodgement rate, specifically within the early post-operative period.

Currently, the first line treatment for Warthin's tumor (WT) is parotidectomy. There is a paucity of data evaluating the safety and efficacy of non-surgical treatments for patients not amenable to surgery. Ultrasound guided ethanol sclerotherapy (UGES) has been successfully used for the management of lymphangiomans of the head and neck, thyroid nodules, and thyroid cysts. This is the first study to implement and assess the success of UGES for management of WT.
We report two patients with WT, with a total of 3 masses, who underwent UGES. All procedures were performed in the clinic. The primary outcome measured was the tumor volume reduction rate (VRR), patient satisfaction, and complications observed at follow-up.
Both patients experienced a significant reduction in tumor size upon follow up. VRR for the three treated tumors were 67.30%, 98.32%, and 55.73%. Patient were very satisfied with the results and noted significant cosmetic improvement. No complications were observed at follow-up.
Ultrasound guided ethanol sclerotherapy may be a viable option for conservative treatment of Warthin's tumor in patients unsuitable or unwilling to undergo surgical resection.

Methods A review of the medical records was conducted in order to find dogs with sepsis. One Health approaches to managing health challenges through multi-stakeholder engagement are underscored by an enabling environment. Here we describe three case studies from state (New South Wales, Australia), national (Ireland), and international (sub-Saharan Africa) scales which illustrate different aspects of One Health in action in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. In Ireland, a One Health team was assembled to help parameterise complex mathematical and resource models. In New South Wales, state authorities engaged collaboratively with animal health veterinarians and epidemiologists to leverage disease outbreak knowledge, expertise and technical and support structures for application to the COVID-19 emergency. The African One Health University Network linked members from health institutions and universities from eight countries to provide a virtual platform knowledge exchange on COVID-19 to support the response. Themes common to successful experiences included a shared resource base, interdisciplinary engagement, communication network strategies, and looking global to address local need. The aim of this study is to describe the presence of S. enterica strains in larval and adult forms of A. diaperinus collected from poultry litter belonging to industrial farms located in the central zone of Chile. Objectives (1) To compare leukogram parameters (WBC, segmented and band neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes), platelet count (PLT), mean platelet volume (MPV), and some leukocyte/platelet ratio such as NLR, NBNLR, PLR, and MLR between dogs with systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) and sepsis. (2) To investigate any difference in the trend of these latter parameters between survivors and non-survivors septic dogs. Animals 57 dogs with confirmed sepsis and 57 dogs with non-septic SIRS. One Health approaches to managing health challenges through multi-stakeholder engagement are underscored by an enabling environment. Here we describe three case studies from state (New South Wales, Australia), national (Ireland), and international (sub-Saharan Africa) scales which illustrate different aspects of One Health in action in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. In Ireland, a One Health team was assembled to help parameterise complex mathematical and resource models. In New South Wales, state authorities engaged collaboratively with animal health veterinarians and epidemiologists to leverage disease outbreak knowledge, expertise and technical and support structures for application to the COVID-19 emergency. The African One Health University Network linked members from health institutions and universities from eight countries to provide a virtual platform knowledge exchange on COVID-19 to support the response. Themes common to successful experiences included a shared resource base, interdisciplinary engagement, communication network strategies, and looking global to address local need. Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that cause a wide range of illness from the common cold to more severe diseases. The COVID-19 pandemic is a public emergency of international concern that affects several nations. The widespread outbreak of COVID-19 virus has brought not only the risk of death but also major psychological pressure. However, the psychological impact on university students has not been studied in Ethiopia.

A community-based cross-sectional study was conducted from May 15 to June 15/2020. A systematic sampling technique was employed to select the study participants. The data were entered into EpiData 3.1 and exported to SPSS version 24 for analysis. Bivariate and multivariable logistic regression were used to identify candidates and independent factors respectively. Independent factors of depression, anxiety, and stress were assessed using AORs with s, governments and policy makers should develop health system strategies to provide crisis-oriented psychological services for university students to minimize the mental health impact of the outbreak.

The study indicates that the variance of anxiety during the COVID-19 outbreak may be explained for about 60% by such variables, like high stress, low general self-rated health, female gender, and frequent use of both emotion-oriented and task-oriented coping styles.

To investigate whether the physical activity at different intensities is correlated with depressive symptoms in college students.
This cross-sectional study was a part of the Fitness Improvement Tactics in Youth Project, which was conducted in 2017. A total of 2,820 college freshmen aged 15-24 years were included in this study, of whom 699 (24.8%) were males and 2,121 (75.2%) were females. Depressive symptoms were measured using the Self-rating Depression Scale. Physical activity was assessed using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Short Form. Covariates included sociodemographic, lifestyle-related, and health-related factors.
A total of 560 (19.9%) college students had depressive symptoms. Total physical activity levels (METs•hour/week) were positively associated with frequency of breakfast intake (
= 0.050) but no other participant characteristics. Logistic regression analysis showed that the prevalence of depressive symptoms in the highest quartile of physical activity was lower thaical activity and low-intensity physical activity were inversely associated with depressive symptoms in Chinese college students. All these observations showed gender differences.The integration and development of next-generation information technology and manufacturing technology have made intelligent transformation an important driving force for the upgrading of manufacturing enterprises. This article focuses on the narrative identity of eight convicted genocide perpetrators in Rwanda, who participated in the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi. Narrative identity is the internalised and evolving story of the self that a person constructs to make sense and meaning out of his life. This study focused on the key autobiographical memories, present day experiences and the anticipated future of genocide perpetrators by exploring the self-perception of genocide perpetrators, in the context of their psychosocial rehabilitation.
The Biographic Narrative Interpretive Methods (BNIM) were used for the collection and analysis of life stories of the eight genocide prisoners in Muhanga Prison.
The narratives of the respondents converged into five main themes (a) the childhood experience of abandonment, (b) the process of ethnic self-discovery and positioning, (c) the perpetrator narrative, (d) the imprisoned self and (e) the imagined future self. Two main feelings from their narratives were outlined. Those feelings were the feeling of the abandoned and the feeling of the abandoner in the context of making sense and meaning out of their lives.

In the context of community transmission of the virus, the impact of the pandemic on health-care systems, mainly on intensive care units (ICU), was expected to be devastating. Vall d́Hebron University Hospital (HUVH) implemented an unprecedented critical patient-care planning and management of resources.
We describe a cohort of critically ill patients during the first two months of the pandemic (from March 3, 2020, to May 2, 2020) in HUVH, Barcelona. In this manuscript, we report our previsions, strategies implemented, and the outcomes obtained.
Three-thousand and thirty-three patients were admitted to the HUVH Critical Care Units. Throughout the study period, the proportion of patients on IMV or IMV and ECMO remained above 78%. Most patients were men (65%); the most common age group was 60-70 years. Twenty-three patients received ECMO, and eighteen were cannulated at another center and transferred to HUVH. At the end of the study, fourteen patients were successfully decannulated, three patients died, and the rest of the patients were still on ECMO. Eight pregnant women have been treated in the ICU, with a survival rate of 100%. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/cp2-so4.html The ICU mortality of patients younger than 60 years was 3.2%. The mean ICU stay of both survivors and nonsurvivors was 14 days.

The adequate preparation for resource expansion for critically ill patients care, main challenges, and overall positive results can serve as a precedent for similar future scenarios.The National Quality Control Program in Mycology (PNCCM) of Argentina was established in 1996 to improve the quality of the mycological diagnosis, to help establish and to set up standardized procedures and continuous training of laboratory staff. The aim of this study was to assess the effectiveness of the PNCCM in the 1996-2018 period. Data from the National Mycology Laboratory Network (NMLN) and PNCCM database was used to estimate the increase in the number of controlled laboratories and jurisdictions, the percentage of participation, the improvement in the quality of results and the adherence to the program. Satisfaction surveys were performed to assess user satisfaction. The number of controlled laboratories increased from 29 to 146; participation increased from 49% to 93% and general adherence was 72% in the evaluated period (1996-2018). Improvement in the quality of the results was 15% for low complexity samples; 7% for intermediate complexity samples and 14% for the identification of high complexity strains. Up to 84% of the users consider the PNCCM to be "very good" and 16% "satisfactory". These results show the importance of the PNCCM, which is widely accepted by mycological diagnostic laboratories from Argentina.
Falls are a major cause of mortality and morbidity in adults aged 65 years and older and a common chief complaint in the emergency department (ED). However, the rate of missed opportunities to diagnose and intervene in modifiable fall-risk factors in the ED is unknown. We hypothesize that although ED providers (defined as ED attendings, residents, and advanced care providers) excel at assessing and ruling out injury, they miss the opportunity to identify a large portion of the modifiable risk factors that contribute to a patient's fall. Our objective is to quantify the number of missed opportunities to identify and reduce fall-risk factors in older adult ED patients presenting after a fall.
This secondary analysis used data from a prospective cohort study of older patients at a single academic urban ED. The original study investigated the standard ED evaluation after a fall in older adults. All patients in the original study had a falls evaluation conducted at their ED visit by trained research assistantsral or primary care physician follow-up.

Functional sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P) receptor 1 (S1PR1) antagonists, such as FTY720/fingolimod, used clinically for non-pain conditions, are emerging as non-narcotic analgesics, supporting the repurposing of fingolimod for chronic pain treatment and energizing drug discovery focused on S1P signaling. Here, we summarize the role of S1P in pain to highlight the potential of targeting the S1P axis towards development of non-narcotic therapeutics, which, in turn, will hopefully help lessen misuse of opioid pain medications and address the ongoing opioid epidemic.The presence of concurrent chronic total occlusion (CTO) is a strong predictor for both short-term and long-term mortality. Successful percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) of CTO has been associated with clinical benefit. We sought to perform a meta-analysis comparing CTO-PCI versus optimal medical therapy. PubMed, ClinicalTrials.gov, Google scholar and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials were searched for studies published from 2006 to 2019. A total of 16 studies, with 11,314 patients were included. We analyzed data on mortality, cardiac deaths, myocardial re-infarction, major adverse cardiac events, stroke, and repeat CTO-PCI using random-effects models. The odds ratios (OR) with 95% confidence interval (CI) were computed and P less then 0.05 was considered as a level of significance. Compared with medical therapy alone, CTO-PCI was associated with lower mortality (OR 0.45, CI 0.32-0.63, P less then 0.00001) and cardiac deaths (OR 0.58, CI 0.38-0.89, P = 0.01). These results were primarily driven by observational studies with no difference observed in randomized controlled trials.

The number of controlled laboratories increased from 29 to 146; participation increased from 49% to 93% and general adherence was 72% in the evaluated period (1996-2018). Improvement in the quality of the results was 15% for low complexity samples; 7% for intermediate complexity samples and 14% for the identification of high complexity strains. Up to 84% of the users consider the PNCCM to be "very good" and 16% "satisfactory". These results show the importance of the PNCCM, which is widely accepted by mycological diagnostic laboratories from Argentina. Falls are a major cause of mortality and morbidity in adults aged 65 years and older and a common chief complaint in the emergency department (ED). However, the rate of missed opportunities to diagnose and intervene in modifiable fall-risk factors in the ED is unknown. We hypothesize that although ED providers (defined as ED attendings, residents, and advanced care providers) excel at assessing and ruling out injury, they miss the opportunity to identify a large portion of the modifiable risk factors that contribute to a patient's fall. Our objective is to quantify the number of missed opportunities to identify and reduce fall-risk factors in older adult ED patients presenting after a fall. This secondary analysis used data from a prospective cohort study of older patients at a single academic urban ED. The original study investigated the standard ED evaluation after a fall in older adults. All patients in the original study had a falls evaluation conducted at their ED visit by trained research assistantsral or primary care physician follow-up. Functional sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P) receptor 1 (S1PR1) antagonists, such as FTY720/fingolimod, used clinically for non-pain conditions, are emerging as non-narcotic analgesics, supporting the repurposing of fingolimod for chronic pain treatment and energizing drug discovery focused on S1P signaling. Here, we summarize the role of S1P in pain to highlight the potential of targeting the S1P axis towards development of non-narcotic therapeutics, which, in turn, will hopefully help lessen misuse of opioid pain medications and address the ongoing opioid epidemic.The presence of concurrent chronic total occlusion (CTO) is a strong predictor for both short-term and long-term mortality. Successful percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) of CTO has been associated with clinical benefit. We sought to perform a meta-analysis comparing CTO-PCI versus optimal medical therapy. PubMed, ClinicalTrials.gov, Google scholar and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials were searched for studies published from 2006 to 2019. A total of 16 studies, with 11,314 patients were included. We analyzed data on mortality, cardiac deaths, myocardial re-infarction, major adverse cardiac events, stroke, and repeat CTO-PCI using random-effects models. The odds ratios (OR) with 95% confidence interval (CI) were computed and P less then 0.05 was considered as a level of significance. Compared with medical therapy alone, CTO-PCI was associated with lower mortality (OR 0.45, CI 0.32-0.63, P less then 0.00001) and cardiac deaths (OR 0.58, CI 0.38-0.89, P = 0.01). It is critical for patients who cannot undergo eradicable surgery to predict the risk of lung cancer recurrence and metastasis; therefore, the physicians can design the appropriate adjuvant therapy plan. However, traditional circulating tumor cell (CTC) detection or next-generation sequencing (NGS)-based methods are usually expensive and time-inefficient, which urge the need for more efficient computational models. In this study, we have established a convolutional neural network (CNN) framework called DeepLRHE to predict the recurrence risk of lung cancer by analyzing histopathological images of patients. The steps for using DeepLRHE include automatic tumor region identification, image normalization, biomarker identification, and sample classification. In practice, we used 110 lung cancer samples downloaded from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database to train and validate our CNN model and 101 samples as independent test dataset. The area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve (AUC) for test dataset was 0.79, suggesting a relatively good prediction performance. In this review, we discuss the intricate network of signaling pathways affected by FB1, including changes in sphingolipid metabolism and the effects of these changes, with a focus on our current understanding of the multiple effects of FB1 on plant cell death and plant growth. We analyze the major findings that highlight the connections between sphingolipid metabolism and FB1-induced signaling, and we point out where additional research is needed to fill the gaps in our understanding of FB1-induced signaling pathways in plants.Chelate induction of organic acids has been recognized to enhance metal uptake and translocation in plants, but the underlying mechanism remains unclear. In this study, seedlings of Salix variegata were hydroponically exposed to the combinations of Cd (0 and 50 μM) and three exogenous organic acids (100 μM of citric, tartaric, or malic acid). Plant biomass, antioxidant enzymes, non-protein thiol compounds (NPT) content, and the expression of candidate genes associated with Cd accumulation and tolerance were determined. Results showed that Cd significantly inhibited plant biomass but stimulated the activity of antioxidant enzymes in the roots and leaves, while the lipid peroxidation increased as well. Respective addition of three organic acids greatly enhanced plant resistance to oxidative stress and reduced the lipid peroxidation induced by Cd, with the effect of malic acid showing greatest. The addition of organic acids also significantly increased the content of glutathione in the root, further improving the antioxidant capacity and potential of phytochelatin biosynthesis. Moreover, Cd induced the expression level of candidate genes in roots of S. variegata. The addition of three organic acids not only promoted the expression of candidate genes but also drastically increased Cd accumulation in S. variegata. In summary, application of citric, tartaric, or malic acid alleviated Cd-imposed toxicity through the boost of enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidants and candidate gene expression, while their effects on Cd tolerance and accumulation of S. variegata differed.Improving leaf rust and stripe rust resistance is a central goal in wheat breeding. The objectives of this study were to (1) elucidate the genetic basis of leaf rust and stripe rust resistance in a hybrid wheat population, (2) compare the findings using a previously published hybrid wheat data set, and (3) contrast the prediction accuracy with those of genome-wide prediction. The hybrid wheat population included 1,744 single crosses from 236 parental lines. The genotypes were fingerprinted using a 15k SNP array and evaluated for leaf rust and stripe rust resistance in multi-location field trials. We observed a high congruency of putative quantitative trait loci (QTL) for leaf rust resistance between both populations. This was not the case for stripe rust resistance. Accordingly, prediction accuracy of the detected QTL was moderate for leaf rust but low for stripe rust resistance. Genome-wide selection increased the prediction accuracy slightly for stripe rust albeit at a low level but not for leaf rust. Thus, our findings suggest that marker-assisted selection seems to be a robust and efficient tool to improve leaf rust resistance in European wheat hybrids.

BACKGROUND The prevalence of prehypertension in the world reaches 20-25% with a figure that is still high in Indonesia (48.4%). The role of health promotion is substantial in an effort of prevention and treatment of hypertension. AIM This study aims to determine the difference of effect between health promotion using media slides presentation and with video in increasing knowledge and attitude regarding the prevention of hypertension in patients at risk hypertension at Puskesmas Amplas. METHODS his study uses a Quasi-Experimental design which from 48 samples that meet the criteria inclusion will be immediately given health promotion interventions with slides presentation and video. Respondents will be asked to fill out a questionnaire about knowledge and attitudes before and after the intervention. Data processing is done using the SPSS version 20 application. RESULTS Distribution level of the knowledge of respondents before the intervention (Pretest) and after the intervention (Posttest) is (9.8, 2.68 vs 13.2, 1.58). Distribution of the pretest vs respondent's attitude level. Post test is (29.7, 2.76 vs 33.2, 3.52). Based on the comparison of effectiveness between video and slide presentation, the significance value of knowledge was 0.072, and the significance value of attitude was 0.000. CONCLUSION There was a significant difference in effectiveness between video with a slide presentation on improving attitudes towards hypertension prevention, and there were no significant differences in effectiveness between videos with slides presentation on increasing knowledge about prevention of hypertension. Lymph node fine-needle aspiration (FNA) is considered effective in determining the early diagnosis of lymphadenopathy. AIM This study aims to evaluate the association between cytological features and CD4 level in HIV-associated tuberculous lymphadenitis patients in Haji Adam Malik Hospital in 2017. METHODS This is an analytical study with a cross-sectional approach involving 42 samples. Cytological features were obtained by slide reviewed and CD4 level were obtained from the medical record. AIM The aim of this study was to investigate ANC levels among degree of differentiation and tumor location in Colorectal Cancer (CRC) in Medan. METHODS This study was a cross-sectional analytical study on eighty consecutive patients with CRC. Data collection was obtained from the medical record of the patient at Adam Malik General Hospital, Medan, Indonesia. Inclusion criteria were included male or female aged ≥ 18 years old, the patient with CRC, blood test especially ANC, and the patient with histopathology test. The exclusion criteria were defined as a patient with chemotherapy, HIV, and the patient with sepsis. Data were analyzed with SPSS for window version 21. RESULTS here were Rectal cancer 49.4%, Left side colon cancer 43.2%, and Right-side colon cancer 6.2%. Histopathological findings well differentiated 40.7%, moderate differentiated 32.1%, and poorly differentiated 25.9%. This study showed that no significant differences between ANC and location of the tumor (p = 0.951), but ANC level was significant in histopathological findings (p = 0.0001). CONCLUSION ANC increased in poorly differentiated, and location of the tumor is left side colon cancer. Body Weight is one of the tuberculosis symptoms and used to identified children tuberculosis scoring in Indonesia. AIM The study aims to get an overview of body weight and body weight increment during oral anti-tuberculosis in Medan, Sumatra Utara. METHODS Medical records of children with tuberculosis in the Haji Hospital of Sumatra Utara located in Medan during January 2018 till July 2018 were compiled for the children characteristic, body weight before and after oral anti-tuberculosis treatment. RESULTS There were 99 children medical records included in the study, 42.4% children 1 to 5 years old treated as tuberculosis. At the early treatment, many children were in severe malnutrition (85%). However, after 6 months of tuberculosis treatment, there were many children (78%) got their body weight increment. In Indonesia, the prevalence of hypertension in > 18-year-old people was 34.1% in 2018. AIM The objective of the research was to find out the relationship between physical activity and obesity with the incidence of hypertension in adults (26-45 years old) in Medan. METHODS The research was done in Medan, using a case-control study design. The samples were 150 hypertension patients, taken by using proportional allocation 75 of them were in the case group and the other 75 of them were in the control group. The data were gathered by conducting interviews, measurement, and questionnaires and analysed by using simple logistic regression test. RESULTS The result of the research showed that there was significant relationship of physical activity (p = 0.000; OR = 3.6; 95% CI, 1.802-7.270) and obesity (p = 0.000; OR = 4; 95% CI, 2.030-7.900) with the incidence of hypertension in 26-45-year-old respondents.

METHODS Medical records of children with tuberculosis in the Haji Hospital of Sumatra Utara located in Medan during January 2018 till July 2018 were compiled for the children characteristic, body weight before and after oral anti-tuberculosis treatment. RESULTS There were 99 children medical records included in the study, 42.4% children 1 to 5 years old treated as tuberculosis. At the early treatment, many children were in severe malnutrition (85%). However, after 6 months of tuberculosis treatment, there were many children (78%) got their body weight increment. CONCLUSION Body weight is an important sign and symptom of children with tuberculosis. Copyright © 2019 Pany M. Al Araf, Eka Airlangga.BACKGROUND The incidence rate of hypertension is increasing in Indonesia concerning unhealthy behaviours such as unhealthy physical activity and eating pattern which trigger obesity. In Indonesia, the prevalence of hypertension in > 18-year-old people was 34.1% in 2018. AIM The objective of the research was to find out the relationship between physical activity and obesity with the incidence of hypertension in adults (26-45 years old) in Medan. METHODS The research was done in Medan, using a case-control study design. The samples were 150 hypertension patients, taken by using proportional allocation 75 of them were in the case group and the other 75 of them were in the control group. The data were gathered by conducting interviews, measurement, and questionnaires and analysed by using simple logistic regression test. RESULTS The result of the research showed that there was significant relationship of physical activity (p = 0.000; OR = 3.6; 95% CI, 1.802-7.270) and obesity (p = 0.000; OR = 4; 95% CI, 2.030-7.900) with the incidence of hypertension in 26-45-year-old respondents.0 Comments 0 Shares 5 Views 0 Reviews -
Medulloblastoma (MB) is the most common childhood malignant brain tumor, accounting for approximately 20% of all pediatric central nervous system tumors. Current standard treatments involving surgical interventions followed by craniospinal irradiation and adjuvant chemotherapy have severe motor and cognitive defects. Therefore, individualized treatment regimens with reduced toxicity designed according to the presence of specific oncogenic 'driver' genes are urgently demanded. To this end, recent genetic and epigenetic findings have advanced the classification of MB into the international consensus of four distinct MB molecular subgroups (WNT, SHH, Group 3, and Group 4) based on their respective molecular and histopathological characteristics. More recent studies have indicated that up to seven molecular subgroups exist in childhood MB. Moreover, studies on the inter- and intra-tumoral features of the four subgroups revealed that each subgroup contains variant subtypes. These results have greatly helped risk stratification of MB patients at diagnosis and significantly improved clinical treatment options. Herein, we highlight the recent advances and challenges associated with MB classification, and the development of therapeutic treatments targeting novel subgroup-specific molecular and epigenetic factors, especially those in the SHH-driven MB tumors. Vitamin A (retinol) is important for normal growth, vision and reproduction. It has a role in the immune response and the development of metabolic syndrome. Most of the retinol present in the body is stored as retinyl esters within lipid droplets in hepatic stellate cells (HSCs). In case of liver damage, HSCs release large amounts of stored retinol, which is partially converted to retinoic acid (RA). This surge of RA can mediate the immune response and enhance the regeneration of the liver. If the damage persists activated HSCs change into myofibroblast-like cells producing extracellular matrix, which increases the chance of tumorigenesis to occur. RA has been shown to decrease proliferation and metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma. The levels of RA and RA signaling are influenced by the possibility to esterify retinol towards retinyl esters. This suggests a complex regulation between different retinoids, with an important regulatory role for HSCs. BACKGROUND MRI assessment of aortic pulse wave velocity (PWV) helps predict the risk of vascular events, but the recommended phase contrast sampling rate is faster than what is utilized in most clinical sequences. There are many existing MRI databases obtained for assessment of cardiac output using lower temporal frequency sampling where information might be obtained about aortic stiffness (PWV). In this work, we sought to evaluate whether the Group Delay (GD) method can generate a reproducible measure of stiffness and describe expected age-related stiffening of the aortic arch using lower sampling rates in standard clinical sequences. METHODS Phase contrast (PC) MRI was obtained on the ascending and descending aortic arch in a heterogeneous adult cohort (n = 23; 9 women) spanning over a wide range of ages (ages 24-89, mean 49.4 ± 18.4). Data was collected with standard cardiac MRI protocols for cardiac output evaluation (repetition time = 7.8 ms, views-per-segment = 4, encoding velocity = 200 cm/s). Pulse wave transit times (TT) were computed using the GD method, two other validated automated approaches (cross correlation TT Algorithm by Gaddum and Segment by Medviso), and the manual tangent method. Pressure waveforms from tonometry and flow waveforms from PC MRI were used to assess wave reflections. RESULTS Group Delay and TT-Algorithm showed significant and high retest reproducibility (r = 0.86 for both) as well as high PWV correlation with age (r = 0.93, P-value less then 0.00005 and r = 0.96, P-value less then 0.00005 respectively) and with each other (r = 0.94, P-value less then 0.00001, RMSE = 0.94 m/s). Arbitrary altering of the image acquisition trigger in the GD method introduced error of 10%-13%, but the TT-algorithm error range was 11%-25%. CONCLUSION Group Delay enables reproducible assessment of transit time to derive PWV from low temporal resolution clinical cardiac MRI sequences that can also identify age-related stiffening. METHODS Since many hepatomegaly-inducing toxicants and stressors activate NRF2, we examined the effect of NRF2 activation on liver size and metabolism using a conditional allele encoding a constitutively active NRF2 variant to generate Nrf2Act-hep **** in which NRF2 is selectively activated in hepatocytes. We also used adenoviruses encoding variants of the autophagy adaptor p62/SQSTM1, which activates liver NRF2, as well as liver-specific ATG7-deficient **** (Atg7Δhep) and liver specimens from patients with hepatic sinusoidal obstruction syndrome (HSOS) and autoimmune hepatitis (AIH). https://www.selleckchem.com/products/Mycophenolic-acid(Mycophenolate).html RNA sequencing and cell signaling analyses were used to determine cellular consequences of NRF2 activation and diverse histological analyses were used to study effects of the different manipulations on liver and systemic pathophysiology. RESULTS Hepatocyte-specific NRF2 activation, due to p62 accumulation or inhibition of KEAP1 binding, led to hepatomegaly associated with enhanced glycogenosis, steatosis and G2/M cell cycle arrest, fostering hyperplasia without cell division. Surprisingly, all manipulations that led to NRF2 activation also activated AKT, whose inhibition blocked NRF2-induced hepatomegaly and glycogenosis, but not NRF2-dependent anti-oxidant gene induction. AKT activation was linked to NRF2-mediated transcriptional induction of PDGF and EGF receptor ligands that signaled through their cognate receptors in an autocrine manner. Insulin and insulin-like growth factors were not involved. The NRF2-AKT signaling axis was also activated in human HSOS- and AIH-related hepatomegaly. CONCLUSIONS NRF2, a transcription factor readily activated by xenobiotics, oxidative stress and autophagy disruptors, may be a common mediator of hepatomegaly; its effects on hepatic metabolism can be reversed by AKT and tyrosine kinase inhibitors.
