However, very little research has studied the impact of minority stress on the mental health of same-sex couples. The present study examined associations of actor and partner heterosexist microaggressions and internalized heterosexism with internalizing symptoms, moderated by dyadic coping, among male same-sex couples. Participants were 774 men who have sex with men (387 dyads). Results of actor-partner interdependence models showed that actor, but not partner, minority stress was positively associated with internalizing symptoms. Dyadic coping moderated the association of actor heterosexist microaggressions on internalizing symptoms such that for those who engaged in more dyadic coping, the association of heterosexist microaggressions with internalizing symptoms was weaker. Dyadic coping also moderated the association of partner internalized heterosexism on internalizing symptoms. For those who engaged in more dyadic coping, their partner's internalized heterosexism was associated with greater internalizing symptoms. Although dyadic coping may buffer the effects of minority stress on internalizing symptoms, if partners rely too heavily on one another to cope with stress, it may be detrimental to their mental health. Adolescents who regularly use substances (N = 448; n = 347 Hispanic; n = 101 non-Hispanic white; ages 13-18) were randomized to two 1-hr individual sessions of MI or ACE. We examined 6-month outcomes and mechanisms of change across Hispanic and non-Hispanic white youth. Treatment response was comparable across ethnicities (Hispanic vs. non-Hispanic white youth). Additionally, adolescents in the MI condition showed greater reductions in alcohol use compared to those in ACE, with support for motivation and self-efficacy as mechanisms of treatment response. Direct effects of MI on cannabis use were not observed; however, a significant indirect effect of motivation was observed for reductions in cannabis use. Data support the efficacy of MI in reducing adolescent alcohol use, through the vehicle of enhanced motivation and self-efficacy. Here, we examined the role of both trait anxiety and induced apprehension on the efficiency to maintain one or more target templates to guide attentional selection during visual search and the switch between search templates. In different blocks, participants searched for target objects defined by a single constant color (one-color search) or by one of two possible colors (two-color search). Trait anxiety was measured by self-report questionnaire, and apprehensive mood was induced in a subset of "threat" blocks, where loud aversive noise was occasionally presented. Relative to "safe" blocks, search reaction times were generally faster in threat blocks. Crucially, induced apprehension also reduced target color switch costs during two-color search. No relationship between trait anxiety and performance was observed. These results show that acute apprehension can affect tuning-in functions of attentional control by paradoxically improving the efficiency of switching target templates during visual search.     Women's experiential knowledge is a key element of woman-centred care but is insufficiently addressed in midwifery practice and research that involves migrant women.

    To examine if pregnant migrant women's experiential knowledge of vulnerability corresponds with sets of criteria of vulnerability, and to explore how migrant women make sense of vulnerability during pregnancy.

    A sequential two-phased mixed-methods study, conducted in the Netherlands, integrating survey data of 89 pregnant migrant women and focus group data obtained from 25 migrant mothers - living in deprived areas according to the Dutch socio-economic index.

    Criteria associated with vulnerability were reported by 65.2% of the participants and 62.9% of the participants reported adverse childhood experiences. On a Visual Analogue Scale, ranging from 0 (not vulnerable) to 10 (very vulnerable), participants self-reported sense of vulnerability showed a mean score of 4.2 (±2.56). Women's experiential knowledge of vulnerability significantly correlated with the mean sum score of clinical criteria of vulnerability (r .46, p .002) and with the mean sum score of adverse childhood experiences (r .48, p<.001). Five themes emerged from the focus group discussions "Look beyond who you think I am and see and treat me for who I really am", "Ownership of truth and knowledge", "Don't punish me for being honest", "Projection of fear" and "Coping with labelling".

    One of the Indonesian Government's strategies to reduce maternal mortality rates has been to place a midwife in every village to provide midwifery care and facilitate essential primary healthcare services. To increase the numbers of midwives, the Indonesian Government began opening midwifery schools. However, Indonesia's maternal mortality rates remained high. This raises the question of the quality of midwifery education in Indonesia and how this education could be strengthened so that midwifery plays a key role in reducing maternal mortality rates.

    The aim of this study was to identify the barriers and enablers to strengthening midwifery education in Indonesia.

    A qualitative descriptive approach and in-depth interviews was the method used with 37 participants from 12 midwifery schools in eight cities situated in six provinces in Indonesia. Indonesian midwives, midwifery lecturers, midwifery students, newly graduated midwives, and obstetricians were interviewed in Bahasa Indonesia. Interviews were tranidwifery education in Indonesia.

    The NIH Office of Disease Prevention updated its prevention research taxonomy in 2019‒2020 and applied it to a sample of 14,523 new extramural projects awarded in 2012-2019. All projects were coded manually for rationale, exposures, outcomes, population focus, study design, and type of prevention research. All results are based on that manual coding.

    Taxonomy updates resulted in a slight increase, from an average of 16.7% to 17.6%, in the proportion of prevention research awards for 2012‒2017; there was a further increase to 20.7% in 2019. Most of the leading risk factors for death and disability in the U.S. were observed as an exposure or outcome in <5% of prevention research projects in 2019 (e.g., diet, 3.7%; tobacco, 3.9%; blood pressure, 2.8%; obesity, 4.4%).   • Patients in the precommitment group performed the prescribed self-directed gamified cognitive training twice as often as control group patients who were not offered precommitment (on 50% vs. 21% of days, pcorr = .004, d = .87, CI95% = [.31, 1.42]), and, as a consequence, reached a three times higher total training dose (90.21 vs. 33.60 minutes, pcorr = .004, d = .83, CI95%  = [.27, 1.38]). And, add-on self-directed cognitive training was associated with stronger improvements in visuospatial and verbal working-memory performance (pcorr =.002, d = .72, and pcorr = .036, d = .62). Our decision-neuroscientific add-on intervention strongly increased the performed amount of an effective cognitive training in severely impaired stroke patients. These results warrant a full clinical trial to directly link decision neuroscientific interventions to clinical outcome.Adult zebrafish are increasingly used to interrogate mechanisms of disease development and tissue regeneration. Yet, the prospect of large-scale genetics in adult zebrafish has traditionally faced a host of biological and technical challenges, including inaccessibility of adult tissues to high-throughput phenotyping and the spatial and technical demands of adult husbandry. Here, we describe an experimental pipeline that combines high-efficiency CRISPR/Cas9 mutagenesis with functional phenotypic screening to identify genes required for spinal cord repair in adult zebrafish. Using CRISPR/Cas9 dual-guide ribonucleic proteins, we show selective and combinatorial mutagenesis of 17 genes at 28 target sites with efficiencies exceeding 85% in adult F0 'crispants'. We find that capillary electrophoresis is a reliable method to measure indel frequencies. Using a quantifiable behavioral assay, we identify seven single- or duplicate-gene crispants with reduced functional recovery after spinal cord injury. To rule out off-target effects, we generate germline mutations that recapitulate the crispant regeneration phenotypes. This study provides a platform that combines high-efficiency somatic mutagenesis with a functional phenotypic readout to perform medium- to large-scale genetic studies in adult zebrafish.
    The anti-melanoma differentiation-associated gene 5 (MDA5) antibody is the main predictor of interstitial lung disease (ILD) in dermatomyositis (DM) and clinically amyopathic dermatomyositis (CADM). Nevertheless, a subset of MDA5+ patients have a favorable prognosis. We aimed to determine the possibility of using anti-MDA5 antibody isotypes and IgG subclasses for evaluating ILD risk.

    The isotypes (IgG, IgA and IgM) of anti-MDA5 were detected in serum samples of 36 anti-MDA5+ patients with DM/CADM using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). IgG subclasses of anti-MDA5 antibodies were further investigated. Laboratory findings and cumulative survival were analyzed based on the isotypes of anti-MDA5 and subclasses of anti-MDA5 IgG.

    Among the MDA5+ patients with DM/CADM, the positive rates of anti-MDA5 IgG, IgA, IgM were 100%, 97%, and 6%, respectively. The positive rates of anti-MDA5 IgG1, IgG2, IgG3, and IgG4 were 72%, 25%, 0%, and 28%, respectively. The incidence of acute interstitial pneumonia, mortality rate, and serum ferritin were significantly higher in anti-MDA5 IgG1+ patients than those in anti-MDA5 IgG1- patients with DM/CADM (P = 0.0027, 0.015, 0.0011, respectively). The sensitivity and specificity of anti-MDA5 IgG1 for predicting mortality were 100% and 41.7%, respectively. A combination of anti-MDA5 IgG1 and IgG4 for predicting mortality, yielded better specificity (87.5%).

    'PoseFilter' is a PyMOL plugin that assists in analyses and filtering of docked poses. PoseFilter enables automatic detection of symmetric poses from docking outputs and can be accessed using both graphical user interface and command-line options within the PyMOL program. Two methods of analyses, root mean square deviations (RMSD) and interaction fingerprints, are available from this plugin. The capabilities of the plugin are demonstrated using docking outputs from different oligomeric protein-ligand complexes.

    The purpose of this study was to investigate sex-specific lower limb biomechanical adaptations during a standardized load carriage task in response to a targeted physical training program.

    Twenty-five healthy civilians (males [n = 13] and females [n = 12]) completed a load carriage task (5 km at 5.5 km·h-1, wearing a 23 kg vest) before and after a 10-week lower-body-focused training program. Kinematics and ground reaction force data were collected during the task and were used to estimate lower limb joint kinematics and kinetics (i.e., moments and powers). Direct statistical comparisons were not conducted due to different data collection protocols between sexes.     Patients in the precommitment group performed the prescribed self-directed gamified cognitive training twice as often as control group patients who were not offered precommitment (on 50% vs. 21% of days, pcorr = .004, d = .87, CI95% = [.31, 1.42]), and, as a consequence, reached a three times higher total training dose (90.21 vs. 33.60 minutes, pcorr = .004, d = .83, CI95%  = [.27, 1.38]). Here, we describe an experimental pipeline that combines high-efficiency CRISPR/Cas9 mutagenesis with functional phenotypic screening to identify genes required for spinal cord repair in adult zebrafish. Using CRISPR/Cas9 dual-guide ribonucleic proteins, we show selective and combinatorial mutagenesis of 17 genes at 28 target sites with efficiencies exceeding 85% in adult F0 'crispants'. We find that capillary electrophoresis is a reliable method to measure indel frequencies. Using a quantifiable behavioral assay, we identify seven single- or duplicate-gene crispants with reduced functional recovery after spinal cord injury. To rule out off-target effects, we generate germline mutations that recapitulate the crispant regeneration phenotypes. This study provides a platform that combines high-efficiency somatic mutagenesis with a functional phenotypic readout to perform medium- to large-scale genetic studies in adult zebrafish. The anti-melanoma differentiation-associated gene 5 (MDA5) antibody is the main predictor of interstitial lung disease (ILD) in dermatomyositis (DM) and clinically amyopathic dermatomyositis (CADM). Nevertheless, a subset of MDA5+ patients have a favorable prognosis. We aimed to determine the possibility of using anti-MDA5 antibody isotypes and IgG subclasses for evaluating ILD risk. The isotypes (IgG, IgA and IgM) of anti-MDA5 were detected in serum samples of 36 anti-MDA5+ patients with DM/CADM using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). IgG subclasses of anti-MDA5 antibodies were further investigated. Laboratory findings and cumulative survival were analyzed based on the isotypes of anti-MDA5 and subclasses of anti-MDA5 IgG. Among the MDA5+ patients with DM/CADM, the positive rates of anti-MDA5 IgG, IgA, IgM were 100%, 97%, and 6%, respectively. The positive rates of anti-MDA5 IgG1, IgG2, IgG3, and IgG4 were 72%, 25%, 0%, and 28%, respectively.     The influences of porus acusticus internus (PAI)on ethnicity and differences between populations have not been investigated so far. Therefore, we performed this study to elucidate further the relationship between the different morphologies of PAI and ethnicity and to discuss their effects on surgery.

    One hundred twenty dry adult human temporal bones (61 male, 59 female) were investigated in the study. Their horizontal diameter (HD), vertical diameter (VD), shape, prevalence of the shapes of PAI, and the distance from the sulcus for the sigmoid sinus (SSS), sulcus forsuperior petrosal sinus (SSPS), and jugular foramen (JF) of dry Turkish temporal bones were recorded.

    Forty-three (35.8%) elliptical (or transverse) and 77 (64.1%) oval (or round) PAI were detected in the Turkish dry temporal bones. On both sides, round PAI were identified more frequently than elliptical ones (32; 26.6% (left); 39; 32.5% (right)) (p < 0.05). There was a similarity between the Indian and Turkish dry temporal bones in terms of distance from the PAI to the SSPS (7-8mm) and SSS (19-20mm) (p = 0.01) and prevalence of morphology of PAI (oval and elliptical) (p = 0.04, p < 0.05).

    The findings of the present study provided a detailed understanding of the preoperative and intraoperative identification of different morphologies of PAI and ethnicity. In contrast to shimming structures made of iron, 3D printed structures made of the lightweight filament allow for a robust and inexpensive way of realizing high-performance NMR magnets for future portable NMR applications. We demonstrate the versatility and achievable high performance of the proposed solution with two different H-shaped NMR magnets. In the first magnet, the 3D-printed filament is used to realize the yoke that guides the magnetic flux inside the magnet, providing the potential for a substantial weight reduction compared to a conventional iron yoke. In the second magnet, we use the 3D-printed material to realize arbitrarily shaped passive shim structures. Numerical size and shape optimizations using non-uniform rational basis splines (NURBS) have been applied to obtain the optimal geometry. The two manufactured magnets achieve measured NMR spectral line widths of 54 ppm and 250 ppm, respectively. The aim of the study is to investigate the associations of multiple serum metals with reproductive hormones, and to further explore potential roles of reproductive hormones in relationships between metals exposure and FBG level. A total of 1911 Chinese Han men were analyzed by a cross-sectional study. We measured serum levels of 22 metals by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICP-MS). FBG, total testosterone (TT), estradiol (E2), follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), and sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) levels were determined. Least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression models were conducted to select important metals, and restricted cubic spline models were then used to estimate dose-response relationships between selected metals and reproductive hormones. We also conducted mediation analyses to evaluate whether reproductive hormones played mediating roles in the associations between metals and FBG. We found significant inverse dose-dependent trends of copper, tin and zinc with E2; zinc with SHBG; copper and nickel with TT, while significant positive dose-dependent trend of iron with E2, respectively. Moreover, approximately inverted U-shaped associations existed between lead and SHBG, iron and TT. In addition, E2, SHBG and TT were negatively associated with FBG level. In mediation analyses, the association of copper with FBG was mediated by E2 and TT, with a mediation ratio of 10.4% and 22.1%, respectively. Furthermore, E2 and SHBG mediated the relationship of zinc with FBG, with a mediation ratio of 7.8% and 14.5%, respectively. E2 mediated 11.5% of positive relationship between tin with FBG. Our study suggested that the associations of metals exposure with FBG may be mediated by reproductive hormones.

In contrast to shimming structures made of iron, 3D printed structures made of the lightweight filament allow for a robust and inexpensive way of realizing high-performance NMR magnets for future portable NMR applications. We demonstrate the versatility and achievable high performance of the proposed solution with two different H-shaped NMR magnets. In the first magnet, the 3D-printed filament is used to realize the yoke that guides the magnetic flux inside the magnet, providing the potential for a substantial weight reduction compared to a conventional iron yoke. In the second magnet, we use the 3D-printed material to realize arbitrarily shaped passive shim structures. Numerical size and shape optimizations using non-uniform rational basis splines (NURBS) have been applied to obtain the optimal geometry. The aim of the study is to investigate the associations of multiple serum metals with reproductive hormones, and to further explore potential roles of reproductive hormones in relationships between metals exposure and FBG level. A total of 1911 Chinese Han men were analyzed by a cross-sectional study. We measured serum levels of 22 metals by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICP-MS). FBG, total testosterone (TT), estradiol (E2), follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), and sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) levels were determined. Least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression models were conducted to select important metals, and restricted cubic spline models were then used to estimate dose-response relationships between selected metals and reproductive hormones. We also conducted mediation analyses to evaluate whether reproductive hormones played mediating roles in the associations between metals and FBG. We found significant inverse dose-dependent trends of copper, tin and zinc with E2; zinc with SHBG; copper and nickel with TT, while significant positive dose-dependent trend of iron with E2, respectively. Moreover, approximately inverted U-shaped associations existed between lead and SHBG, iron and TT. In addition, E2, SHBG and TT were negatively associated with FBG level. In mediation analyses, the association of copper with FBG was mediated by E2 and TT, with a mediation ratio of 10.4% and 22.1%, respectively. Furthermore, E2 and SHBG mediated the relationship of zinc with FBG, with a mediation ratio of 7.8% and 14.5%, respectively. E2 mediated 11.5% of positive relationship between tin with FBG. Our study suggested that the associations of metals exposure with FBG may be mediated by reproductive hormones.

Dietary habits, physical activity level, illness uncertainty, health locus of control, and knowledge of NAFLD were assessed. While it is usually accomplished via transabdominal specimen extraction and stapled anastomosis, the robotic platform can facilitate novel approaches and techniques. This is the first report of the initial experience using robotic sigmoidectomy with natural orifice specimen extraction and hand-sewn anastomosis (NOSHA).

    The change of surface color caused by browning during the drying process of shiitake mushrooms seriously affects its market circulation. Intensive pulsed light (IPL) as a non-heat-treatment method can reduce enzyme activity by changing the enzyme structure. Therefore, in this study, the use of IPL pretreatment before drying was aimed to reduce the adverse reactions caused by the browning reaction during the drying processing of shiitake mushrooms.

    Shiitake mushrooms pretreated with 25 pulses of IPL energy of 400 J reduced the initial polyphenol oxidase enzyme activity, the browning index, and browning degree values by 42.83%, 43.02%, and 47.54% respectively. The IPL pretreatment enhanced the polysaccharides and reducing sugars contents and it reduced 5-hydroxymethylfurfural generation in the dried shiitake mushrooms. The pretreatment also improved the surface color, the antioxidant activity, and retained the umami taste characteristics in the dried shiitake mushroom.

    The IPL pretreatment combined with controlled temperature and humidity for convection drying could be a suitable method to improve the quality of dried shiitake mushrooms.

  • We report proof-of-principle experiments regarding a dynamic microarray protocol enabling accurate and semi-quantitative DNA analysis for re-sequencing, fingerprinting and genotyping. Single-stranded target molecules hybridise to surface-bound probes during initial gradual cooling with high-fidelity. Real-time tracking of target denaturation (via fluorescence) during a 'dynamic' gradual heating phase permits 'melt-curve' analysis. The probe most closely matching the target sequence is identified based on the highest melting temperature. We demonstrated a >99% re-sequencing accuracy and a potential detection rate of 1% for SNPs. Experiments employing Hypericum ribosomal ITS regions and HIV genomes illustrated a reliable detection level of 5% plus simultaneous re-sequencing and genotyping. Such performance suggests a range of potential real-world applications involving rapid sequence interrogation, for example, in the Covid-19 pandemic. Guidance is offered towards the development of a commercial platform and dedicated software required to bring this technique into mainstream science.A 69-year-old man underwent right middle and lower lobectomy for suspected lung cancer (cT3 N1 M0). The final pathologic diagnosis was pulmonary artery (PA) sarcoma. The stump was positive despite having a sufficient surgical margin. After 11 months, we performed completion pneumonectomy and PA resection and replacement under extracorporeal circulation for local recurrence. Although the PA was macroscopically intact, the frozen pathologic diagnosis was positive 3 times. Because PA sarcoma extends microscopically through the intima of the PA, it is difficult to determine the extent of resection on imaging. Bilateral pulmonary flow restrictors are implanted in the proximal branch pulmonary arteries and a stent within the ductus arteriosus. PS1P could postpone surgical repair beyond the neonatal period.     Pulmonary artery sling (PAS) is usually associated with long-segment congenital tracheal stenosis (LSCTS). This combination of abnormalities can also be associated with lung hypoplasia abnormalities (hypoplasia, aplasia, or agenesis). This study analyzed the association of lung hypoplasia abnormalities with combined PAS and LSCTS and its influence on its surgical outcomes.

    All patients (0 to 18 years) who underwent surgical procedures for both PAS and LSCTS from 1995 to 2019 were analyzed retrospectively for mortality, ventilation days, and intensive care unit days by dividing them into those with normal lungs (group 1) and hypoplastic lungs (group 2).

    Included were 75 patients (30 girls [40%]), who were a median age of 5.7 months (interquartile range [IQR], 2.9-13.3 months), median weight of 5.5 kg (IQR, 4.1-7.9 kg), and had a median follow-up of 99.8 months (IQR, 54.5-152.0 months); of these, 8 patients (10.7%) had hypoplastic right lung, comprising hypoplasia in 7 (87.5%), aplasia in 1 (12.5%), and agenesis in 0 (0%). There was a significant difference in mortality (group 1, 9.0%; group 2, 50%; P= .007) but no significant difference in median ventilation days (group 1, 9.0; group 2, 9.0; P= .89) or in median intensive care unit days (group 1, 14.0; group 2, 11.5; P= .44).

    Transsternal open thymectomy has long been the most widely used approach for thymectomy, but recent decades have seen the introduction of minimally invasive surgery (MIS), such as video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) and robot-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (RATS) thymectomy. This retrospective cohort study provides a national comparison of trends, outcomes, and resource utilization of open, VATS, and RATS thymectomy.

    Admissions for thymectomies from 2008 to 2014 were identified in the National Inpatient Sample. Patients were identified as undergoing open, VATS, or RATS thymectomy. Propensity score-matched analyses were used to compare overall complication rates, length of stay (LOS), and cost of VATS and RATS thymectomies.

    An estimated 23,087 patients underwent thymectomy during the study period open in 16,025 (69%) and MIS in 7217 (31%). Of the MIS cohort, 4119 (18%) underwent VATS and 3097 (13%) underwent RATS. Performance of RATS and VATS thymectomy increased while that of open thymectomy declined. After 11 months, we performed completion pneumonectomy and PA resection and replacement under extracorporeal circulation for local recurrence. Although the PA was macroscopically intact, the frozen pathologic diagnosis was positive 3 times. Because PA sarcoma extends microscopically through the intima of the PA, it is difficult to determine the extent of resection on imaging. All patients (0 to 18 years) who underwent surgical procedures for both PAS and LSCTS from 1995 to 2019 were analyzed retrospectively for mortality, ventilation days, and intensive care unit days by dividing them into those with normal lungs (group 1) and hypoplastic lungs (group 2). Included were 75 patients (30 girls [40%]), who were a median age of 5.7 months (interquartile range [IQR], 2.9-13.3 months), median weight of 5.5 kg (IQR, 4.1-7.9 kg), and had a median follow-up of 99.8 months (IQR, 54.5-152.0 months); of these, 8 patients (10.7%) had hypoplastic right lung, comprising hypoplasia in 7 (87.5%), aplasia in 1 (12.5%), and agenesis in 0 (0%). Transsternal open thymectomy has long been the most widely used approach for thymectomy, but recent decades have seen the introduction of minimally invasive surgery (MIS), such as video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) and robot-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (RATS) thymectomy. This retrospective cohort study provides a national comparison of trends, outcomes, and resource utilization of open, VATS, and RATS thymectomy. Admissions for thymectomies from 2008 to 2014 were identified in the National Inpatient Sample. Patients were identified as undergoing open, VATS, or RATS thymectomy. Propensity score-matched analyses were used to compare overall complication rates, length of stay (LOS), and cost of VATS and RATS thymectomies. This study explored experiences of individuals who underwent institutional quarantine in Uganda to inform measures to increase its effectiveness and reduce its associated negative impact.

    We conducted a qualitative description studyusing in-depth interviews with 20 purposively selected individuals who had spent time in institutional quarantine facilities. These were mainly phone-based interviews that were audio recorded and transcribed verbatim. Electronic data coding was conducted using Atlas.ti 7 software. Thematic content analysis was used to synthesize the findings with similar codes grouped to form sub-themes and ultimately bility and monitored to comply with guidelines while avenues for access to healthcare for the quarantined need to be arranged and any potential stigma associated with quarantine thoroughly addressed.

It is also associated with stress, another risk factor for asthma. Despite high prevalence of both in vulnerable populations, the impact of joint exposure has not been examined.

    Participants included 173 children with asthma in New Orleans, Louisiana. Cockroach exposure was based on visual inspection using standard protocols.     A lack of safety experienced by patients and staff in acute psychiatric units is a major concern and containment methods used to manage conflict have the potential to cause harm and upset to both staff and patients. To ensure safety for all, it is highly desirable to reduce levels of conflict and containment and the Safewards model is an evidence-based model aimed at reducing conflict and containment rates by improving nurse-patient relationships and safety.

A qualitative descriptive research design utilising a purposive sample (n = 21) of registered psychiatric nurses (n = 16) and managers (n = 5) in an acute psychiatric unit in Ireland. Following a 12-week implementation of Safewards, three focus groups were conducted, two with nursing staff and one with nurse managers.     Participants were 219 newly-admitted residents (mean of 4.4 weeks since admission) in 42 nursing homes in Melbourne, Australia, with a mean age of 85.5 years (SD=7.3). Nursing homes were randomly allocated to the intervention or standard care condition. Level of depressive symptoms was evaluated at baseline (T1), one week post- intervention (T2), 2 months post-intervention (T3, primary end point), and 6 months post-intervention (T4). Changes in depressive symptoms in the intervention and control groups over time were compared using a multilevel model, with nursing homes modelled as random intercept.

Behavioral profiles of selectively bred dominant (Dom) and submissive (Sub) **** have been proposed to mimic hyperthymic- or depressive-like temperaments observed in patients with affective disorders. These **** differentially respond to psychotropic agents and stressful stimuli, however, the mechanisms underlying these differences remain unclear.     Executive functions and resilience, the key components of an individual's ability to participate meaningfully and effectively in their environment, have become increasingly researched topics in psychology and education. However, little is known about the longitudinal associations of executive functions and resilience among emergent adults.

    We conducted a prospective study with 450 (baseline) participants aged 17-24 years; 420 of these participants also completed a 15-month follow-up. Participants answered questionnaires investigating socio-demographics, executive functions, and resilience, and results were analysed with multivariable logistic regression and cross-lagged analyses.

    At baseline, the overall prevalence of low executive functions (T-score ≥ 60) among the sample was 18.2%. Relative to persistently low executive functions, newly developed or persistent high executive functions was significantly associated with higher level of resilience at follow-up (bOR=8.26, 95% CI [2.57, 26.49]; bOR=8.74, 9to support individuals' development.

However, little is known about the longitudinal associations of executive functions and resilience among emergent adults. We conducted a prospective study with 450 (baseline) participants aged 17-24 years; 420 of these participants also completed a 15-month follow-up. Participants answered questionnaires investigating socio-demographics, executive functions, and resilience, and results were analysed with multivariable logistic regression and cross-lagged analyses. At baseline, the overall prevalence of low executive functions (T-score ≥ 60) among the sample was 18.2%. Relative to persistently low executive functions, newly developed or persistent high executive functions was significantly associated with higher level of resilience at follow-up (bOR=8.26, 95% CI [2.57, 26.49]; bOR=8.74, 9to support individuals' development. Meta-analytic reviews concerning predictors of PTSD in children and adolescents have predominantly identified evidence relating to pre- and post-trauma risk factors; however, there is little evidence regarding peritraumatic risk factors. This paper comprised a systematic review and meta-analysis of studies exploring psychological peritraumatic risk factors for PTSD in youth. Thirty-two studies were identified. Random effects meta-analyses were undertaken, with meta-regressions to explore the moderating role of study characteristics (gender, sex, timing of assessment after trauma, study quality, design and trauma type) on the size of effect of predictive factors. Peritraumatic subjective threat (k=28; r=0.37, 95% CI=0.31-0.42) yielded a medium effect size estimate, while dissociation (k=5; r=0.17, 95% CI=0.03-0.29) and data-driven processing (feeling muddled or confused during the trauma) (k=2; r=0.29, 95% CI=0.14-0.43) yielded smaller population effect size estimates for the relationship with PTSD symptoms.
