Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is an acute and severe disease with high disability and mortality. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/Rapamycin.html Inflammatory reactions have been proven to occur throughout SAH. Extracellular vesicles derived from mesenchymal stem cells (****-EVs) have shown broad potential for the treatment of brain dysfunction and neuroprotective effects through neurogenesis and angiogenesis after stroke. However, the mechanisms of EVs in neuroinflammation during the acute phase of SAH are not well known. Our present study was designed to investigate the effects of ****-EVs on neuroinflammation and the polarization regulation of microglia to the M2 phenotype and related signaling pathways after SAH in rats. The SAH model was induced by an improved method of intravascular perforation, and ****-EVs were injected via the tail vein. Post-SAH assessments included neurobehavioral tests as well as brain water content, immunohistochemistry, PCR and Western blot analyses. Our results showed that ****-EVs alleviated the expression of inflammatory cytokines in the parietal cortex and hippocampus 24 h and 48 h after SAH and that ****-EVs inhibited NF-κB and activated AMPK to reduce inflammation after SAH. Furthermore, ****EVs regulated the polarization of microglia toward the M2 phenotype by downregulating interleukin-1β, cluster of differentiation 16, cluster of differentiation 11b, and inducible nitric oxide synthase and upregulating the expression of cluster of differentiation 206 and arginase-1. Additionally, ****-EVs inhibited the neuroinflammatory response and had neuroprotective effects in the brain tissues of rats after SAH. This study may support their use as a potential treatment strategy for early SAH in the future.Traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs) are medicines that are widely used in oriental countries under the guidance of ancient Chinese medicinal philosophies. With thousands of years of experiences in fighting against diseases, TCMs are gaining increasing importance in the world. Although the efficacy of TCMs is well recognized in clinic, the toxicity of TCMs has become a serious issue around the world in recent years. In general, the toxicity of TCMs is caused by the toxic medicinal compounds and contaminants in TCMs such as pesticides, herbicides, and heavy metals. Recent studies have demonstrated that gut microbiota can interact with TCMs and thus influence the toxicity of TCMs. However, there is no focused review on gut microbiota and the toxicity of TCMs. Here, we summarized the influences of the gut microbiota on the toxicity of medicinal compounds in TCMs and the corresponding mechanisms were offered. Then, we discussed the relationships between gut microbiota and the TCM contaminants. In addition, we discussed the methods of manipulating gut microbiota to reduce the toxicity of TCMs. At the end of this review, the perspectives on gut microbiota and the toxicity of TCMs were also discussed.Hepatitis B X-interacting protein (HBXIP) is a conserved protein of 19 kDa that was originally identified as a binding partner of hepatitis B virus X protein. Emerging evidence indicates that HBXIP is highly expressed in a variety of cancers and is correlated with poor clinical outcomes in cancer patients. HBXIP plays a critical role in cancer progression, but the underlying mechanisms are still unclear. In this review, we primarily focus on publications investigating HBXIP in cancer research, including its expression and clinical significance in cancer patients, its role as a coactivator of transcription factors in cancer cells, its inhibitory effects on the mitochondrial cytochrome c-caspase apoptotic pathway, as well as its roles in promoting mitosis and drug resistance in cancer cells, its regulatory effects on cancer metabolism, and its relationships with other signaling pathways or microRNAs in cancer. This review aims to compile and summarize existing knowledge of the functions of HBXIP in cancer, which provides a comprehensive reference for future studies on the oncogenic mechanisms of HBXIP.Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has the characteristics of multiple targets, slight side effects and good therapeutic effects. Good anti-tumor effects are shown by Traditional Chinese Medicine prescription, Chinese patent medicine, single Traditional Chinese Medicine and Traditional Chinese medicine monomer compound. Clinically, TCM prolonged the survival time of patients and improved the life quality of patients, due to less side effects. Cancer metastasis is a complex process involving numerous steps, multiple genes and their products. During the process of tumor metastasis, firstly, cancer cell increases its proliferative capacity by reducing autophagy and apoptosis, and then the cancer cell capacity is stimulated by increasing the ability of tumors to absorb nutrients from the outside through angiogenesis. Both of the two steps can increase tumor migration and invasion. Finally, the purpose of tumor metastasis is achieved. By inhibiting autophagy and apoptosis of tumor cells, angiogenesis and EMT outside the tumor can inhibit the invasion and migration of cancer, and consequently achieve the purpose of inhibiting tumor metastasis. This review explores the research achievements of Traditional Chinese Medicine on breast cancer, lung cancer, hepatic carcinoma, colorectal cancer, gastric cancer and other cancer metastasis in the past five years, summarizes the development direction of TCM on cancer metastasis research in the past five years and makes a prospect for the future.Nosocomial Candida colonization causes Systemic candidiasis in human with invasive infections in immunocompromised patients. Of all Candida spp., C. albicans is dominant in morbidity of all systemic candidiasis but C. tropicalis is phenomenal in mortality, virulence aspects and resistance development against antifungal drugs. The present study investigated the synergistic anti-virulent activity of myristic acid (MA) and palmitic acid (PA) against insidious dimorphic Candida spp. (C. albicans and C. tropicalis). In vitro and qPCR results revealed the mechanisms of MA-PA combination effectively inhibiting various virulence aspects such as biofilm, hyphal formation, secreted aspartyl proteases, lipases, ergosterol biosynthesis and drug effluxes. Further, in Danio rerio (Zebrafish), the MA-PA treatment increased the survival of animals and also the treated groups showed decreased level of fungal burden compared to the infected controls, after 3rd day of post infection. Histopathology of vital organs and SEM analysis of skin revealed a drastic recovery and reduced the inflammation of both Candida spp.
