We evaluate whether patient exposures such as tobacco use are associated with high systemic or local invivo oxidative state and with increased invivo polyethylene oxidation.

We performed a case-control study which evaluated clinical factors associated with high systemic or local invivo oxidative state among patients whose implants have been identified as demonstrating either extreme or minimal oxidation by our implant retrieval laboratory. Analysis of more than 2500 tibial inserts from explanted total knee arthroplasty demonstrated a wide spectrum of polyethylene oxidation. Components from some patients exhibited extremely high oxidation rates (super-oxidizers), and components from other patients demonstrated negligible oxidation (nonoxidizers). Patients' clinical data were retrospectively investigated from a prospectively collected institutional database.

Eighteen patients met criteria as either super-oxidizers (9) or nonoxidizers (9). Average time invivo was 6.6 (±4.4) years. Reasons for removal were aseptic loosening (10), instability (3), infection (2), component malposition (1), massive osteolysis (1), and other (1). Chi-square for categorical predictors demonstrated that nonoxidizer patients were significantly more likely to be current smokers than super-oxidizers (6 vs 0,
= .012). No other free radical-associated variables were significantly different across oxidation groups.

There was a significant association between extremely low ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene oxidation and current smoking.

The dataset provides data on cognitive and temperamental determinants of the Müller-Lyer illusion recorded in a group of 170 participants aged 20-33. The cognitive predictors included the field dependent-independent cognitive style and the efficacy of attention networks alerting, orienting, and executive control. The dataset is related to the research findings in the paper 'Cognitive and temperamental determinants of susceptibility to the Müller-Lyer illusion' published in Personality and Individual Differences. The data presented here are related to the research paper entitled "Multiscale NMR analysis of the degradation of apple structure due to thermal treatment" whose aim was to investigate the critical temperature at which the cell membranes of a Golden Delicious apple is highly damaged. Apple sticks were analyzed raw and cooked at 45, 50, 53, 60 °C and 70 °C. The firmness data refers to the puncture tests that were done using a Ta-Plus texturometer. The nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) relaxometry and imaging data were both acquired with a 9.4 T 400WB instrument. For these three raw data collections, analysis results are also provided. These data are complementary as they cover the different scales from molecular to nearly the whole food system to enlighten the process of membrane degradation during thermal processing of apple. Our NMR data could be reused to optimize inversion algorithms dealing with ill-posed inverse problems. Both firmness and NMR data could be added to databases on food structure studies, either in physico-chemical data handbooks or review studies. Finally, these data could also be reused for the optimization of food thermal processing control.Aptamer is a nucleic acid ligand which specifically binds to its target molecule. Previously, we have designed an identification method of aptamer called "G-quadruplex (G4) promoter-derived aptamer selection (G4PAS)" [1]. In G4PAS procedure, putative G4 forming sequences (PQS) were explored in a promoter region of a target protein in human gene through computational analysis, and evaluated binding ability towards the gene product encoded in the downstream of the promoter. We investigated the topology of the obtained PQSs by circular dichroism measurement, as well as their binding ability against its target protein by surface plasmon resonance measurement and gel-shift assay. Additionally, the presence of nuclear localization signal in the target protein was predicted in silico. This data set summarized all the PQS sequences, their biochemical characteristics, and the presence of nuclear localization signal to address the possibility of binding of these PQS region to the target proteins in vivo. Those data should contribute to increase the success rate of G4PAS. Moreover, considering the G4 motifs in genomic DNA are suggested to be involved in vivo gene regulation [2], [3], this data set is also potentially beneficial for the cell biology field. This article provides raw relative electroencephalographic (EEG) power, temperature and activity data from controls and Cav3.2 deficient ****. Radiotransmitter implantation was carried out in male experimental **** under ketamine/xylazine narcosis. Following a recovery period, radiotelemetric EEG recordings from the hippocampal CA1 region were obtained under spontaneous 24 h long-term conditions and post urethane injection. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/6-thio-dg.html Relative EEG power values (%) for 2 s epochs were analysed for the following frequency ranges delta 1 ( δ 1 , 0.5-4 Hz), delta 2 ( δ 2 , 1-4 Hz), theta 1 ( θ 1 , 4-8 Hz), theta 2 ( θ 2 , 4-12 Hz), alpha ( α , 8-12 Hz), sigma ( σ , 12-16 Hz), beta 1 ( β 1 , 12-30 Hz), beta 2 ( β 2 , 16-24 Hz), beta 3 ( β 3 , 16-30 Hz), gamma low ( γ l o w , 30-50 Hz), gamma mid ( γ m i d , 50-70 Hz), gamma high ( γ h i g h , 70-100 Hz), gamma ripples ( γ r i p p l e s , 80-200 Hz), and gamma fast ripples ( γ f a s t r i p p l e s , 200-500 Hz). In addition, subcutaneous temperature and relative activity data were analysed for both the light and dark cycle of two long-term recordings. The same type of data was obtained post urethane injection. Detailed information is provided for the age and body weight of the experimental animals, the technical specifications of the radiofrequency transmitter, the stereotaxic coordinates for the intracerebral, deep and epidural, surface EEG electrodes, the electrode features, the filtering and sampling characteristics, the analysed EEG frequency bands and the data acquisition parameters.
