In transition-element chemistry, the 3d4 and 3d9 configurations in octahedral complexes are particularly illustrative, where a distortion in local geometry is associated with a reduction of the electronic energy. However, there has been a lasting debate about the fact that the octahedra are found to exclusively elongate. In contrast, for Na9 Bi5 Os3 O24 , the octahedron around Os6+ (5d2 ) is heavily compressed, lifting the degeneracy of the t2g set of 5d orbitals such that in the sense of a JT compression a diamagnetic ground state results. This effect is not forced by structural constraints, the structure offers sufficient space for osmium to shift the apical oxygen atoms to a standard distance. The relevance of these findings is far reaching, since they provide new insights in the hierarchy of perturbations defining ground states of open shell electronic systems.Obesity is highly prevalent worldwide, including among people with chronic kidney disease (CKD). The presence of severe and/or end-stage kidney disease complicates the treatment of obesity for several reasons, including restrictions on protein and fluid intake and renal excretion of several medications indicated for the treatment of obesity. The aim of this review is to assess the safety of intensive obesity treatments, such as very-low-energy diets (VLEDs), obesity pharmacotherapy and/or bariatric surgery, in people with end-stage kidney disease. A literature search was conducted to identify studies reporting safety outcomes for VLEDs, liraglutide, phentermine, phentermine-topiramate, naltrexone-bupropion and bariatric surgery in people with an estimated glomerular filtration rate of less than 30 mL/min/1.73m2 or on dialysis. Limited data were insufficient to recommend VLEDs but highlighted their potential efficacy and the need for close clinical and biochemical monitoring. There were no data regarding centrally acting obesity pharmacotherapy in this population, although some glucagon-like peptide-1 analogues appear to safely induce weight loss at doses used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Some studies suggest an increased rate of complications of bariatric surgery in individuals with severe or end-stage CKD. Further prospective evaluation of intensive obesity management in the growing population with obesity and severe, end-stage and dialysis-dependent CKD is required.Ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia involves visualizing sono-anatomy to guide needle insertion and the perineural injection of local anesthetic. Anatomical knowledge and recognition of anatomical structures on ultrasound are known to be imperfect amongst anesthesiologists. This investigation evaluates the performance of an assistive artificial intelligence (AI) system in aiding the identification of anatomical structures on ultrasound. Three independent experts in regional anesthesia reviewed 40 ultrasound scans of seven body regions. Unmodified ultrasound videos were presented side-by-side with AI-highlighted ultrasound videos. Experts rated the overall system performance, ascertained whether highlighting helped identify specific anatomical structures, and provided opinion on whether it would help confirm the correct ultrasound view to a less experienced practitioner. #link# Two hundred and seventy-five assessments were performed (five videos contained inadequate views); mean highlighting scores ranged from 7.87 to 8.69 (out of 10). The Kruskal-Wallis H-test showed a statistically significant difference in the overall performance rating (χ2 [6] = 36.719, asymptotic p less then  0.001); regions containing a prominent vascular landmark ranked most highly. AI-highlighting was helpful in identifying specific anatomical structures in 1330/1334 cases (99.7%) and for confirming the correct ultrasound view in 273/275 scans (99.3%). These data demonstrate the clinical utility of an assistive AI system in aiding the identification of anatomical structures on ultrasound during ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia. Whilst further evaluation must follow, such technology may present an opportunity to enhance clinical practice and energize the important field of clinical anatomy amongst clinicians.Fish is an important source of easily digestible animal protein and other essential nutrients. It plays a pivotal role in food security and poverty alleviation in developing countries. However, the nations of the global South consume a limited number of fish species. This study aimed to evaluate the macronutrient and mineral composition of Whole fish (Labeobarbus intermedius, Garra quadrimaculata) and fillet (Oreochromis niloticus, Labeobarbus intermedius). A total of 64 fish samples were collected from Gilgel Gibe reservoir, Ethiopia, and analysed for its macronutrient and mineral composition. The proximate composition and mineral contents of fillets and whole body samples were determined. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/gw-441756.html showed a **** higher fat and ash percentage than the fillets (p less then 0.05). The fillets contained a **** higher protein concentration than the whole fish (p less then 0.05). The higher CaP ratios in whole fish compared to fillet in our study confirm the importance for a healthy human skeletal development, especially in diets where Ca is typically lacking. Whole Garra appeared to be containing important trace elements such as zinc and iron, a feature that was not found to the same extent in the whole Labeobarbus. These differences may find its origin in the feeding pattern of these fish species in the reservoir. The advantage of benthic species such as Garra to enrich the human diet with essential minerals may, however, coincide with the accumulation of toxic heavy metals as a potential result of soil erosion. The enantioselective synthesis of aza[6] and [7]helicene-like molecules have been achieved by the cationic rhodium(I)/axially chiral biaryl bisphosphine complex-catalyzed intramolecular [2+2+2] cycloaddition of cyanodiynes. This protocol was successfully applied to the diastereo- and enantioselective synthesis of an S-shaped double aza[6]helicene-like molecule with a high ee value of 89 %. Although no epimerization and racemization were observed in the double carbo[6]helicene-like molecule at 80 °C, epimerization and racemization of the double aza[6]helicene-like molecule proceeded at 80 °C. This double aza[6]helicene-like molecule showed good fluorescent quantum yields and chiroptical responses under both neutral and acidic conditions.
