Cancer patients are associated with a series of long lasting and stressful treatments and experiencing, and case management (CM) has been widely used and developed with the aim to increase the quality of treatments and improve the patient care services. The purpose of this review is to identify and synthesize the evidence of randomized controlled trial studies to prove that case management could be one way to address the quality of life of cancer patients.
We performed a literature search in 4 electronic bibliographic databases and snowball searches were performed to ensure a complete collection. Two review authors independently extracted and analyzed data. A data extraction form was used to collect the characteristics of case management intervention, report outcomes, and quality assessment.
Our searches identified 3080 articles, of which 7 randomized controlled trials met the inclusion criteria. The intervention was varied from the target population, measurement tools, duration of intervention, and so ervention in future research. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between textbook outcome and survival in patients with surgically treated colon cancer. A total of 804 surgical cases were enrolled between June 1, 2010 and December 31, 2014. Textbook outcome was defined as patients who had colon cancer surgery and met the six healthcare parameters of surgery within 6 weeks, radical resection, lymph node (LN) yield ≥12, no ostomy, no adverse outcome and colonoscopy before/after surgery within 6 months. The effect of textbook outcome on 5-year disease-specific survival (DSS) was calculated using the Kaplan-Meier method. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/rhps4-nsc714187.html A Cox regression model was used to find significant independent variables and stratified analysis used to determine whether text-book outcome had a survival benefit. A textbook outcome was achieved in 59.5% of patients undergoing colon cancer surgery. Important obstacles to achieving textbook outcome were no stomy, no adverse outcome and LN yield ≥12. Patients with text-book outcome had statistically significant better 5-year DSS compared to those with-out (80.1% vs. 58.3%). Multivariate analyses indicated that colon cancer patients with textbook outcome had better 5-year DSS after adjusting for various confounders ([aHR], 0.44; 95% CI, 0.34-0.57). Thus, besides being an index of short-term quality of care, textbook outcomes could be used as a prognosticator of long-term outcomes, such as 5-year survival rates.
miRNA-146a is a microRNA that plays an important role in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Several studies have examined the role of miRNA-146a in SLE, but have demonstrated equivocal or even contradictory conclusions. Therefore, this meta-analysis aimed to assess the role of miRNA-146a in SLE by examining data from previous studies.
A meta-analysis of relevant papers published before August 31, 2019, in the WanFang, Chinese Biomedical Literature Database (CBM), Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), PubMed, EMBASE, and Web of Science databases was performed to verify the relationship of miRNA-146a expression level to SLE. Two investigators independently extracted the data and conducted a quality assessment of the studies. All statistical analyses were performed using Stata 14.0. Trial sequence analysis (TSA) was conducted to assess the quality and strength of the studies using the TSA software.
Six publications, involving 151 SEL patients and 132 healthy individuals as controls were includated with SLE risk. Therefore, miRNA-146a is a promising candidate for the effective diagnosis of SLE. But, due to the limitations of this study, it is necessary to cautiously explain the results of this study.

PROSPERO CRD42019151381.Delivery methods during childbirth and their related gut microbiota profiles have important impacts on health later in life, they can contribute to the development of diseases such as obesity, whose highest prevalence rate is found among the Mexican child population. Coincidentally, Mexico has one of the highest global average annual rate increase in cesarean births (C-section). Since Mexico leads the world in childhood obesity, studying the relationship between childbirth delivery methods and gut microbiota profiles in this vulnerable population may be used to identify early risk factors for obesity in other developed and developing countries. The objective of this study is to determine the association between child delivery method and gut microbiota profiles in healthy Mexican newborns.Fecal samples of 57 term infants who participated in a randomized clinical trial in 2013 to study the safety of Agave fructans in newborns, were used in this study. DNA samples were extracted and used to characterize the microbiota composition using high-throughput 16S rRNA gene sequencing. The samples were further divided based on childbirth delivery method, as well as early diet. Gut microbiota profiles were determined and analyzed using cluster analysis followed by multiple correspondence analysis. An unusual high abundance of Proteobacteria was found in the gut microbiota of all Mexican infants studied, regardless of delivery method. Feces from infants born by C-section had low levels of Bacteroidetes, high levels of Firmicutes, especially Clostridium and Enterococcus, and a strikingly high ratio of Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes (FB). Profiles enriched in Bacteroidetes and low FB ratios, were strongly associated with vaginal delivery. The profile of gut microbiota associated with feces from Mexican infants born by C-section, may be added to the list of boosting factors for the worrying obesity epidemic in Mexico. It has been suggested that herpes zoster may increase the risk of subsequent prostate cancer (PCa). We aimed to assess the risk of PCa following herpes zoster by the population-based follow-up study. This is a retrospective study and data are from the Taiwan National Health Insurance Research Database (NHIRD). The study cohort comprised all patients with a diagnosis of herpes zoster (International Classification of Diseases, 9th Revision, Clinical Modification code 053.0-053.9) and followed for PCa from 1997 to 2013 (n = 11,376). Subjects younger than 20 years of age were excluded. The match-control cohort was identified from the Registry of Beneficiaries of the NHIRD and randomly selected by matching with the study cohort at a 31 ratio based on age (every 5-year span), and year of herpes zoster diagnosis (n = 34,128). We used Cox proportional hazards regression models to estimate the hazard ratios (HRs) for subsequent PCa, after controlling for potential cormobidities.Men with and without herpes zoster had similar age and comorbidity distributions.
