Having history of a diarrheal disease, maternal and paternal education, and family size were also statistically significant predictors of deworming supplements. Therefore, deworming supplementation among children is low. Maternal education and employment, paternal education, family size, decision-making process, maternal media exposure, place of delivery, vitamin-A supplementation, and a having history of diarrhea were predictors of deworming supplements. Multifaceted interventions aimed at those predictors should be given emphasis.Physical inactivity is a vital risk factor for the development and maintenance of chronic ill-health conditions among older adults. This study examined personal factors associated with physical activity (PA) behavior of urban-dwelling older adults in Sri Lanka, a middle-income country in South Asia. A total of 880 older adults (aged ≥60 years) participated in this cross-sectional study. They responded to anthropometrical, health, and socio-demographic data pertaining to their current physical and behavioral status. The mean age of the participants was 70.1 years (SD ±6.0), and the majority (75%) were women. Increasing age, male gender, middle income, having cardiovascular diseases or arthritis, deficiencies in muscle strength and balance, pain, and lower self-rated health were associated with insufficient PA behavior among the participants. Old-age physical activity promotion programs should target older adults in advanced ages and men in particularly, as they are highly vulnerable to sedentary lifestyles. Muscle strength and balance, a neglected area in PA promotion in older adults, seem to play an important role in older adults' participation in physical activities. Incorporation of pain management, and muscle strength and balance techniques into older adults' PA promotion programs would probably increase adherence rates of the participants in such programs. Objective To identify the key mechanisms, contexts, and outcomes that drive the successful participatory co-design of assistive technologies. Method A rapid realist review was conducted using a systematic search strategy. After screening, a final set of 28 articles were included. Articles were analyzed for evidence relevant to our initial program theory (IPT), and context-mechanism-outcome configurations were developed, resulting in a revised program theory. Results All 28 articles included were highly relevant to the IPT, and had sufficient detail regarding the process of participatory co-design. The findings of this review highlight several key context-mechanism-outcome configurations as potential patterns in the data under the two dimensions of the evolving program theory knowledge integration and the ethico-political dimension. Discussion This review revealed the key mechanisms of mutual awareness, mutual learning, trust, and reciprocity that need to be taken into account in AT development and assessment. We concluded that participatory co-design requires a restructuring of power relations between end-users and those traditionally in control of technology design. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/nx-5948.html These findings inform the development and assessment of AT for older adults and help guide policy/decision-makers to move forward with the now urgent agenda for scale-up and spread, initiated by the burning platform of the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a commentary on methodological challenges and analytical requirements in designing an evaluation of the knowledge, motivation, attitude, preventive practice-outcome (KMAP-O) model for selfcare management of diabetes. Critical issues pertaining to an investigation of the dose-response relationship between the intervention program and outcomes, the comparative effectiveness evaluation, and the lengths of observation were noted. Although numerous publications on factors influencing diabetes care and control were systematically reviewed and documented in the literature, scientific results on artificial intelligence research remain to be uncovered. To optimizing the knowledge and clinical practice in selfcare management, specific methodological approaches to predictive analytics are suggested for future clinical studies, using a comprehensive behavioral system such as the KMAP-O model.Loss of motion and stiffness after fracture of the digits are most commonly a result of soft tissue contracture and adhesions. However, stiffness can also have a bony etiology. We present a case of synostosis of the thumb interphalangeal joint after non-operative treatment of a closed fracture.Introduction Postoperative hypoparathyroidism is one of the most common complications after total thyroidectomy. In recent years, several techniques have been employed, trying to save parathyroid glands during thyroid surgery, such as autofluorescence and indocyanine green (ICG) angiography. In this study, we present a systematic approach to a parathyroid function saving total thyroidectomy using autofluorescence and quantified ICG angiography. Materials and Methods Step-by-step video demonstration of a total thyroidectomy for thyroid cancer utilizing parathyroid autofluorescence and ICG angiography. Results A systematic step-wise approach to a total thyroidectomy using autofluorescence and quantified ICG angiography is demonstrated. The set moments of deployment, settings of the camera, and a standardized workflow model for parathyroid autofluorescence and ICG angiography are noted. Conclusion A systematic approach to parathyroid autofluorescence and quantified ICG angiography during total thyroidectomy may eventually guide the surgeon in early identification of the parathyroid glands and the need for parathyroid autotransplantation, thereby predicting and preventing postoperative hypoparathyroidism.
