Weaker LPN connectivity in the inferior parietal lobule, supramarginal gyrus, posterior insula, and inferior frontal gyrus was associated with more ADHD symptoms; stronger pulvinar-cerebellar connectivity was also associated with more ADHD symptoms. Better D-prime scores were associated with greater connectivity between the pulvinar and superior parietal gyrus; better D-prime scores were associated with weaker pulvinar connectivity with striatal, middle temporal gyrus, and medial prefrontal cortex regions.

Monitoring sortase activity and screening its inhibitors are of great significance to fundamental understanding of the infection mechanism and pharmaceutical development. Herein, we developed a digital single-particle imaging method to quantify sortase A (SrtA) activity based on transpeptidation-mediated assembly and enumeration of gold nanoparticles (GNPs). The assay utilizes two peptide stands, in which one has the SrtA recognition sequence LPXTG motif while the other carries an oligoglycine nucleophile at the one end and a biotin group at the other. The presence of SrtA enables the ligation of two peptides and allows for the immobilization of streptavidin-functionalized GNPs. Thus, SrtA activity can be quantified by imaging and enumeration of the surface-assembled GNPs at the single-particle level via dark-field microscopy. The single-particle method was highly sensitive to SrtA activity with a low detection limit of 7.9 pM and a wide linear dynamic range from 0.05 to 50 nM. Besides detection of SrtA in complex biological samples such as Gram-positive pathogen lysates, the proposed method was also successfully applied to estimate the half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) values of SrtA inhibitors (curcumin, berberine hydrochloride and quercetin). The present method, combining single-GNP counting and dark-field imaging, provides a facile and novel analytical tool for SrtA activity and its inhibitor screening.
The middle cerebral artery (MCA) bifurcation represents the most frequent location for intracranial aneurysms. Often, the aneurysmal dome can hide the origin of perforating arteries from the M1 segment during the surgical clipping causing ischemic lesions and worse clinical outcome. The aim of this paper is to analyze the association between the orientation of the aneurysm sac and the clinical and radiological outcomes after surgical clipping.

Data from 50 MCA bifurcation clipped aneurysms in 47 patients were collected retrospectively. Three different groups were identified according to the aneurysmal sac orientation anterior-inferior, posterior and superior. A possible association between the aneurysmal sac projection and the outcome was searched through a univariable logistic regression analysis.

Statistical analysis showed significant correlation between the radiologic evidence of post-operative ischemia in the posterior group (p = 0.046, RR = 1.65) and an increased risk in the superior orientation gisk.Radiculomedullary artery malformations are rare conditions their rupture usually manifests with subarachnoid hemorrhage. We present the rare case of a 74 year old woman admitted to our Institute with sudden onset of right lower limb motor deficit and hypoesthesia, with no history of trauma Magnetic Resonance Imaging of the dorsal spine was performed and a subdural hematoma was detected; subsequent dorsal laminectomy for hematoma evacuation was carried out. As the source of bleeding was not recognized, Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA) was performed a new leak of contrast agent from a dilation of a spinal radicular artery at the level of T5 was detected; XperCT imaging (an angiographic acquisition of Computed Tomography-like images) confirmed a new acute subdural bleeding. Urgent repeat surgery was considered the best option to identify and close the malformation. Postoperative DSA confirmed complete exclusion of the radicular artery malformation. This is the first report that describes, with an intraoperative video, a case of radiculomedullary artery pseudoaneurysm, responsible of an acute subdural bleeding and associated neurological deficit.An electromagnetic field (EMF) may have effects on female reproduction. This study was conducted to determine whether EMF [50 and 120 Hz, 2 and 4 h of incubation in the presence or absence of progesterone (P4, 10-5 M)] affects androgen synthesis and release from the pig endometrium. Endometrial slices were collected from pigs (n = 5) during the fetal peri-implantation period (i.e., days 15-16 of gestation) and treated in vitro with EMF. When there was no inclusion of P4, release of A4 was decreased after 2 h of EMF treatment at 120 Hz and after 4 h of EMF treatment at 50 and 120 Hz. Progesterone did not have functions that protected the pig endometrium against EMF radiation during the fetal peri-implantation period.
