3% new peptide identifications. These findings reveal the differences in SAAV detection that result from various approaches, providing guidance to researchers studying SAAV peptides and developers of peptide spectrum identification tools. This study performed technoeconomic and life-cycle analyses to assess the economic feasibility and emission benefits and tradeoffs of various biofuel production pathways as an alternative to conventional marine fuels. We analyzed production pathways for (1) Fischer-Tropsch diesel from biomass and cofeeding biomass with natural gas or coal, (2) renewable diesel via hydroprocessed esters and fatty acids from yellow grease and cofeeding yellow grease with heavy oil, and (3) bio-oil via fast pyrolysis of low-ash woody feedstock. We also developed a new version of the Greenhouse gases, Regulated Emissions, and Energy use in Transportation (GREET) marine fuel module for the estimation of life-cycle greenhouse gas (GHG) and criteria air pollutant (CAP) emissions of conventional and biobased marine fuels. The alternative fuels considered have a minimum fuel selling price between 2.36 and 4.58 $/heavy fuel oil gallon equivalent (HFOGE), and all exhibit improved life-cycle GHG emissions compared to heavy fuel oil (HFO)h a transition to biofuels by reducing alternative fuel costs while still lowering GHG emissions, although marginal CO2 abatement costs are less favorable for the fossil cofeed pathways.Drug metabolite profiling utilizes liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS) to acquire ample information for metabolite identification and structural elucidation. However, there are still challenges in detecting and characterizing all potential metabolites that can be masked by a high biological background, especially the unknown and uncommon ones. In this work, a novel metabolite profiling workflow was established on a platform using a state-of-the-art tribrid high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS) system. Primarily, an instrumental method was developed based on the novel design of the tribrid system that facilitates in-depth MSn scans with two fragmentation devices. Additionally, different advanced data acquisition techniques were assessed and compared, and automatic background exclusion and deep-scan approaches were adopted to promote assay efficiency and metabolite coverage. Finally, different data-analysis techniques were explored to fully extract metabolite data from the information-rich MS/MS data sets. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/iacs-13909.html Overall, a workflow combining tribrid mass spectrometry and advanced acquisition methodology has been developed for metabolite characterization in drug discovery and development. It maximizes the tribrid HRMS platform's utility and enhances the coverage, efficiency, quality, and speed of metabolite profiling assays. The goal of using ammonia as a solar fuel motivates the development of selective ammonia oxidation (AO) catalysts for fuel cell applications. Herein, we describe Fe-mediated AO electrocatalysis with [(bpyPy2Me)Fe(****)2]2+, exhibiting the highest turnover number (TON) reported to date for a molecular system. To improve on our recent report of a related iron AO electrocatalyst, [(TPA)Fe(****)2]2+ (TON of 16), the present [(bpyPy2Me)Fe(****)2]2+ system (TON of 149) features a stronger-field, more rigid auxiliary ligand that maintains cis-labile sites and a dominant low-spin population at the Fe(II) state. The latter is posited to mitigate demetalation and hence catalyst degradation by the presence of a large excess of ammonia under the catalytic conditions. Additionally, the [(bpyPy2Me)Fe(****)2]2+ system exhibits a substantially faster AO rate (ca. 50×) at significantly lower (∼250 mV) applied bias compared to [(TPA)Fe(****)2]2+. Electrochemical data are consistent with an initial E1 net H-atom abstraction step that furnishes the cis amide/ammine complex [(bpyPy2Me)Fe(NH2)(NH3)]2+, followed by the onset of catalysis at E2. Theoretical calculations suggest the possibility of N-N bond formation via multiple thermodynamically plausible pathways, including both reductive elimination and ammonia nucleophilic attack. In sum, this study underscores that Fe, an earth-abundant metal, is a promising metal for further development in metal-mediated AO catalysis by molecular systems.Highly efficient noble-metal-free electrocatalysts for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) are essential to reduce the costs of fuel cells and metal-air batteries. Herein, a single-atom Ce-N-C catalyst, constructed of atomically dispersed Ce anchored on N-doped porous carbon nanowires, is proposed to boost the ORR. This catalyst has a high Ce content of 8.55 wt % and a high activity with ORR half-wave potentials of 0.88 V in alkaline media and 0.75 V in acidic electrolytes, which are comparable to widely studied Fe-N-C catalysts. A Zn-air battery based on this material shows excellent performance and durability. Density functional theory calculations reveal that atomically dispersed Ce with adsorbed hydroxyl species (OH) can significantly reduce the energy barrier of the rate-determining step resulting in an improved ORR activity.A novel kinetic resolution of 2,2-disubstituted dihydroquinolines was achieved by regioselective asymmetric halogenations enabled by chiral phosphoric acid catalysis. A series of dihydroquinolines bearing 2,2-disubstitutions were well-tolerated in these reactions, generating both the recovered dihydroquinolines and C-6-brominated products with high enantioselectivities, with s-factors up to 149. In addition, this kinetic resolution protocol is also applicable for 2,2-disubstituted tetrahydroquinoline and asymmetric iodonation reaction.Nanocrystals are often synthesized using technical grade reagents such as oleylamine (OLAm), which contains a blend of 9-cis-octadeceneamine with trans-unsaturated and saturated amines. Here, we show that gold nanowires (AuNWs) synthesized with OLAm ligands undergo thermal transitions in interfacial assembly (ribbon vs. nematic); transition temperatures vary widely with the batch of OLAm used for synthesis. Mass spectra reveal that higher-temperature AuNW assembly transitions are correlated with an increased abundance of trans and saturated chains in certain blends. DSC thermograms show that both pure (synthesized) and technical-grade OLAm have primary melting transitions near -5 °C (20-30 °C lower than the literature melting temperature range of OLAm). A second, broader melting transition (in the previous reported melting range) appears in technical grade blends; its temperature varies with the abundance of trans and saturated chains. Our findings illustrate that, similar to biological membranes, blends of alkyl chains can be used to generate mesoscopic hierarchical nanocrystal assembly, particularly at interfaces that further modulate transition temperatures.
