The findings of associations between prenatal air pollution exposure and hypospadias risk in offspring are inconsistent. No systematic review or meta-analysis has yet summarized the present knowledge on the aforementioned topic.
Relevant manuscripts were identified by searching PubMed and Web of Science databases through January 31, 2020. Summary odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) in meta-analyses were estimated based on a random effects model. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/vx-11e.html Publication bias was evaluated by funnel plots, Begg's test, and Egger's test.
The search identified 3,032 relevant studies. Sixteen studies cumulatively involving 21,701 hypospadias cases and 1,465,364 participants were included. All of these studies were classified as having a low risk of bias. We classified pollutants as nitrogen oxides, particulate matter (PM), ozone, and other exposures. The exposure window to pollutants varied from three months before conception to seven days after delivery. In the meta-analyses, only PM
exposure in the first trimester was related to increased risk of hypospadias (per 10 μg/m
OR = 1.34; 95% CI 1.06-1.68).
We found evidence for an effect of PM
exposure on hypospadias risk. Improvements in the areas of study design, exposure assessment, and specific exposure window are needed to advance this field.

The tumor microenvironment is an essential regulator of tumor progression and survival, and extracellular vesicles (EVs) are an important facet of this microenvironment. Herein, we explored the impact of hypoxia-induced miR-155 expression in EVs on FOXO3 expression in RCC cells and their associated oncogenic activity. We found that RCC patients exhibited elevated miR-155 expression in EVs relative to healthy controls, suggesting that this miRNA may be important in the context of RCC progression. We then characterized EVs produced from RCC cell lines (Caki-1 and 786-O) under normoxic and hypoxic conditions, revealing that hypoxia-induced EVs contained higher levels of miR-155 and promoted cell proliferation. Then, we identified FOXO3 as a miR-155 target. Lastly, hypoxia-induced EVs were found to be able to significantly inhibit FOXO3 activation via facilitating miR-155 up-regulation. Together, these findings indicate that hypoxia can promote the upregulation of miR-155 in EVs and that this miRNA can act in RCC cells to suppress FOXO3 expression, thereby enhancing cellular tumor progression.circRNAs are present in human ovarian tissue, but how they regulate ovarian function remains unknown. In the current study, we investigated the levels of circRNAs in granulosa cells (GCs) derived from human follicular fluid, explored their correlation with female ovarian reserve function and clinical outcomes of assisted reproduction technique (ART), and investigated their effects on the biological functions of GC cell lines (COV434) in vitro. We identified that the levels of circDDX10 in GCs decreased gradually with aging (P 0.05). Additionally, circDDX10 was related to the number of oocytes obtained, and good quality embryo rates. Silencing circDDX10 in GCs could markedly up-regulate the expression of apoptosis-related factors, reduce cell proliferation activity, inhibit the expression of steroid hormone synthesis-related factors, and prohibit the synthesis of estradiol. On the contrary, over-expression of circDDX10 had the opposite effect. circDDX10 is expected to become a novel biomarker for predicting the outcomes of ART, and may participate in the regulation of ovarian function by affecting the proliferation and apoptosis of GCs and steroid hormone synthesis.
The Science, PE, & Me! (SPEM) curriculum is a concept-based physical education curriculum that offers students coherent educational experiences for constructing health-related fitness knowledge through movement experiences. The purpose of this study was to evaluate students' motivational response to the SPEM curriculum from the situational interest perspective.
The study used a cluster randomized controlled design in which 30 elementary schools in one of the largest metropolitan areas in the eastern United States were randomly assigned to an experimental or comparison condition. Although all students in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades in the targeted schools were eligible to participate in the study, a random sample of students from the experimental (n = 1749; 15 schools) and comparison groups (n = 1985; 15 schools) provided data. Students' motivational response to the SPEM curriculum or comparison curriculum was measured using the previously validated Situational Interest Scale-Elementary. Data were analyzed using structural mean modeling.
The results demonstrated that the experimental group (as reference group) showed significantly higher enjoyment (z = -2.01), challenge (z = -6.54), exploration (z = -12.195), novelty (z = -8.80), and attention demand (z = -7.90) than the comparison group.
The findings indicate that the SPEM curriculum created a more situationally interesting context for learning than the comparison physical education curriculum.

Decaffeinated green tea extract (dGTE) can increase fat oxidation during leg exercise, but dGTE is unsuitable for many people (e.g., those with injuries/disabilities), and its effects on arm exercise and women are unknown.
Eight adults (23-37 years old, 4 women) performed an incremental arm cycle test to measure peak oxygen uptake (VO
), followed by four 1-h trials at 50% VO
. Subjects were randomly assigned to 650 mg of dGTE or placebo (PLA) for 4 weeks followed by a 4-week washout and crossover trial. Blood samples were obtained pre-exercise and post-exercise for glycerol and free fatty acid analysis. Respiratory gases were collected continuously.
VO
showed no differences across trials ((0.83-0.89) ± (0.19-0.25) L/min, p = 0.460), neither did energy expenditure ((264-266) ± (59-77) kcal, p = 0.420) nor fat oxidation (dGTE = 0.11 to 0.12 g/min vs. PLA = 0.10 to 0.09 g/min, p = 0.220). Fat oxidation as percentage of energy expenditure was not different for dGTE vs. PLA (23% ± 12% to 25% ± 11% vs. 23% ± 10% to 21% ± 9%, p = 0.
