Pediatric gastrostomy tubes (G-tubes) are associated with considerable utilization of healthcare resources. G-tube dislodgement can result in tract disruption and abdominal sepsis. We aimed to reduce early G-tube dislodgement by 25%.

An interdisciplinary team convened to identify key drivers of G-tube dislodgement and implement initiatives to reduce this complication. A G-tube care bundle was implemented in 2018. Rates of early G-tube dislodgement (within 90 days of insertion) were tracked. 15 months of cases after bundle implementation were compared to 20 months of cases before implementation. Length of stay (LOS, balancing measure) and bundle compliance (process measure) were tracked.

G-tube dislodgements decreased 47% after bundle implementation. Overall, dislodgements after G-tube insertion decreased from 43% to 19% dislodgements per tube inserted, p = 0.004. Reductions were observed for dislodgements occurring in both the inpatient (14% vs. 1.5%) and outpatient (29% vs. 18%) settings. Median LOS was reduced from 15.3 to 7.1 days following implementation, p = 0.004. Process measures demonstrated 75% or greater compliance one year after implementation.

An interdisciplinary team using quality improvement science methodology can significantly reduce G-tube dislodgement and improve value after pediatric gastrostomy tube insertion.

The COVID-19 outbreak has substantially altered residents' training activities. While several new virtual learning programs have been recently implemented, the perspective of urology trainees regarding their usefulness still needs to be investigated.

A cross-sectional, 30-item, web-based Survey was conducted through Twitter from April 4
, 2020 to April 18
, 2020, aiming to evaluate the urology residents' perspective on smart learning (SL) modalities (pre-recorded videos, webinars, podcasts, and social media [SoMe]), and contents (frontal lessons, clinical case discussions, updates on Guidelines and on clinical trials, surgical videos, Journal Clubs, and seminars on leadership and non-technical skills).

Overall, 501 urology residents from 58 countries completed the survey. Of these, 78.4, 78.2, 56.9 and 51.9% of them considered pre-recorded videos, interactive webinars, podcasts and SoMe highly useful modalities of smart learning, respectively. The contents considered as highly useful by the greatest proportion of residents were updates on guidelines (84.8%) and surgical videos (81.0%). In addition, 58.9 and 56.5% of responders deemed seminars on leadership and on non-technical skills highly useful smart learning contents. The three preferred combinations of smart learning modality and content were pre-recorded surgical videos, interactive webinars on clinical cases, and pre-recorded videos on guidelines.

Our study provides the first global «big picture» of the smart learning modalities and contents that should be prioritized to optimize virtual Urology education. While this survey was conducted during the COVID-19 outbreak, our findings might have even more impact in the future.

The purpose of this invitro study was to investigate the flexural strength (FS), Martens hardness (HM), indentation modulus (E
), fracture load (FL), and wear resistance (WR) of HS10PC compared with those of the established glass-ceramics IPS e.max Press and IPS Empress Esthetic.

Four pressable glass-ceramics were examined HS10PC (estetic ceram ag), IPS e.max Press low translucency (LT) and high translucency (HT; Ivoclar Vivadent AG), and IPS Empress Esthetic (ES; Ivoclar Vivadent AG). For each material, a total of 85 specimens were fabricated. Specimens were subdivided into 4 groups for FS (n=30), HM, E
