Radiologic evaluation of the tibial nutrient artery is clinically important as disruption of tibial blood supply is a risk factor for delayed or non-union of tibial fractures. Damage to the tibial nutrient artery canal (TNAC) may occur by a traversing fracture or iatrogenic cause in the context of pin/screw placement. Furthermore, TNAC could be misdiagnosed as a stress fracture. The aim of this study was to characterize the normal anatomy of TNAC and to delineate its gender and side-specific differences. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/ski-ii.html Patients who underwent contrast-enhanced computed-tomography encompassing the pelvis and lower extremities were included. TNAC was identified with an external and internal foramen and a traversing intercortical canal. Various anatomical morphometrics were evaluated total number of nutrient canals, angular position of the outer and inner nutrient foramina, absolute and relative position of the nutrient foramina, as well as the intercortical canal length with respect to tibial length. The majority of patients of both genders had only one tibial nutrient canal, multiple canals or complete absence were rare. In most cases, the outer nutrient foramen was found on the posterolateral aspect of the upper-third of tibia at about 32% of tibial length; the inner foramen was found at the middle third of the tibia (41% of tibial length). The course of nutrient canal was mostly cranio-caudal with a small, but significant difference in relative canal length 8.5% vs. 10% of tibial length for females and males, respectively. The angular location of the outer and inner foramen was between 20-30° and did not reveal a statistically significant difference between genders. No statistically significant side specific differences were found for all analyzed parameters and both genders. The clinical relevance of this anatomical study pertains to establishing "safe corridors" of pin/screw insertion in the context of surgical management of tibial fractures in order to avoid iatrogenic disruption of tibial blood supply.Although the fundamental limits have been established for the single junction solar cells, tandem configurations are one of the promising approaches to surpass these limits. One of the candidates for the top cell absorber is CdTe, as the CdTe photovoltaic technology has significant advantages stability, high performance, and relatively inexpensive. In addition, it is possible to tune the CdTe bandgap by introducing, for example, Zn into the composition, forming Cd1-xZnxTe alloys, which can fulfill the Shockley-Queisser limit design criteria for tandem devices. The interdigitated **** contact (IBC) silicon solar cells presented record high efficiencies recently, making them an attractive candidate for the rear cell. In this work, we present a combined optical and electrical optimization of Cd1-xZnxTe/IBC Si tandem configurations. Optical and electrical loss mechanisms are addressed, and individual layers are optimized. Alternative electron transport layers and transparent conductive electrodes are discussed for maximizing the top cell and tandem efficiency. The objective of this study was to examine the effect of inulin and maltodextrin applied during vacuum drying of Saskatoon berry fruit, juice, and pomace on the retention of bioactive compounds and antioxidant capacity (radical scavenging capacity (ABTS), ferric reducing antioxidant potential (FRAP)) of powders obtained. Ultra-high performance liquid chromatography (UPLC-PDA-ESI-MS/MS) was used to identify major groups of polyphenolic compounds, such as flavan-3-ols (35% of all polyphenols for fruit powder, 33% for juice powder, and 39% for pomace powders of all polyphenols), anthocyanins (26% for fruit powder, 5% for juice powder, and 34% for pomace), phenolic acids (33% for fruit powder, 55% for juice powder, and 20% for pomace powder), and flavanols (6% for fruit powder, 6% for juice powder, and 7% for pomace powder). In general, the content of polyphenols was more dependent on the content than on the type of carrier used for drying, regardless of the matrix tested. The average sum of polyphenols and the a as nutraceutical additives to fortify food products and to improve their functional properties.According to the concept of abusive supervision, abusive supervisors display hostility towards their employees by humiliating and ridiculing them, giving them the silent treatment, and breaking promises. In this study, we argue that abusive supervision may not be limited to mistreatment at the relationship level and that the abuse is likely to extend to employees' work tasks. Drawing upon the notion that supervisors play a key role in assigning work tasks to employees, we propose that abusive supervisors may display disrespect and devaluation towards their employees through assigning illegitimate (i.e., unnecessary and unreasonable) tasks. Survey data were obtained from 268 healthcare and social services workers. The results showed that abusive supervision was strongly and positively related to illegitimate tasks. Moreover, we found that the relationship between abusive supervision and unreasonable tasks was stronger for nonsupervisory employees at the lowest hierarchical level than for supervisory employees at higher hierarchical levels. The findings indicate that abusive supervision may go beyond relatively overt forms of hostility at the relationship level. Task-level stressors may be an important additional source of stress for employees with abusive supervisors that should be considered to fully understand the devastating effects of abusive supervision on employee functioning and well-being.Novel bio-materials, like chitosan and its derivatives, appeal to finding a new niche in room temperature gas sensors, demonstrating not only a chemoresistive response, but also changes in mechanical impedance due to vapor adsorption. We determined the coefficients of elasticity and viscosity of chitosan acetate films in air, ammonia, and water vapors by acoustic spectroscopy. The measurements were carried out while using a resonator with a longitudinal electric field at the different concentrations of ammonia (100-1600 ppm) and air humidity (20-60%). It was established that, in the presence of ammonia, the longitudinal and shear elastic modules significantly decreased, whereas, in water vapor, they changed slightly. At that, the viscosity of the films increased greatly upon exposure to both vapors. We found that the film's conductivity increased by two and one orders of magnitude, respectively, in ammonia and water vapors. The effect of analyzed vapors on the resonance properties of a piezoelectric resonator with a lateral electric field that was loaded by a chitosan film on its free side was also experimentally studied.
