70%). Symptoms including watering eyes (P = 0.000), dry eyes (P = 0.000), shoulder pain (P = 0.020), **** pain (P = 0.003) and headache (P = 0.043) showed positive correlation with hours of digital device use per day during lockdown, while itching eyes (P = 0.036) and pain behind eyes (P = 0.025) were the major symptoms in those engaged in a greater number of digital activities. Moreover, red eyes (P = 0.040) were more prominent in respondents using multiple devices for a greater number of hours.
A big jump in digital activities on multiple digital devices was seen during lockdown which are more prone to ocular symptoms. Acceleration of ocular and systemic symptoms was particular with rise in time spending on digital devices.

Big data is the new gold, especially in health care. Advances in collecting and processing electronic medical records (EMR) coupled with increasing computer capabilities have resulted in an increased interest in the use of big data in health care. Ophthalmology has been an area of focus where results have shown to be promising. The objective of this study was to determine whether the EMR at a multi-tier ophthalmology network in India can contribute to the management of patient care, through studying how climatic and socio-demographic factors relate to eye disorders and visual impairment in the State of Telangana.
The study was designed by merging a dataset obtained from the Telangana State Development Society to an existing EMR of approximately 1 million patients, who presented themselves with different eye symptoms and diagnosed with several diseases from the years (2011-2019). The dataset obtained included weather and climatic variables to be tested alongside eye disorders. AI creative featuring techniq the clinical presentation of patients from a geographic region lends insight into the complex interaction of environmental factors on the prevalence of ocular disorders in them.
The study appeared useful for taking preventive measures in the future to manage the treatment of patients who present themselves with eye disorders in Telangana. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/4-hydroxytamoxifen-4-ht-afimoxifene.html The use of clinical big datasets helps to identify the burden of ocular disorders in the population. The aim of this study was to evaluate the changes in astigmatism after unilateral recession of horizontal rectus muscles in pediatric patients.
The authors retrospectively evaluated the medical history of 52 children with esotropia or exotropia, that underwent a unilateral recession strabismus surgery. The intervention group consisted of the 52 eyes that underwent strabismus surgery, and the control group consisted of the other 52 fellow unoperated eyes of the same participants. The intervention group was divided into medial and lateral rectus muscle subgroups, and four subgroups based on the astigmatism axis preoperatively (A with-the-rule astigmatism, B no astigmatism, C intermediate meridians, D against-the-rule astigmatism). All patients were examined one day preoperatively, and then, six weeks postoperatively. Paired tests were conducted, and the significant level was set to 0.05 or was adjusted for subgroups.
A mean difference 0.43 D of astigmatism (95% CI 0.27, 0.59) was observed after the surgerly significant.
To assess the patient reported outcome and quality of life in post external dacryocystorhinostomy operated patients.
A prospective questionnaire based study was carried out on 112 patients diagnosed with chronic dacryocystitis who underwent external dacryocystorhinostomy in the department of Orbit and Oculoplasty at a tertiary eye hospital in South India.
We included 112 cases in our study. Mean (SD) of the age of patients was 48.03 (12.79) years and ranged from 7 to 72 years of age. 44 (39.3%) patients were males and 68 (60.7%) were females. All cases had subjective symptoms of tearing, pain and swelling at baseline which were relieved by post-operative 3 in all cases. The mean (SD) best corrected visual acuity was 0.28 (0.39) at baseline and 0.25 (0.37) at postoperative 3 (p < 0.001). All four parameters studied in the GBI questionnaire - total mean GBI (32.22 vs 48.86, P < 0.001), general subscale (31.21 vs 44.08, P < 0.001), social health (46.28 vs 61.01, P < 0.001), physical outcome (22.17 vs 55.80, P = 0.0001) scores showed significant improvement from 1 vs 3 months post DCR.
The GBI questionnaire is an effective tool for assessing patients' quality of life following DCR. External DCR can not only produce a successful anatomical outcome but also bring about a measurable improvement in subjective symptoms and quality of life among patients with symptomatic NLDO.

Anophthalmic sockets cause disfigurement that may result in emotional and social distress. The choice of procedure and implant is based upon the surgeon's experience. There remains no standardization of cosmetic result. We sought to identify quantifiable anatomical features and functional properties related to a successful cosmetic result in patients with ocular prosthesis and to determine correlations between self-reported and third-party assessment of cosmetic success.
This was a prospective observational study, which included 107 adult patients (50.1% female; age 53.08 ± 18.64 years, range 18-89) with acquired anophthalmia following prosthesis fitting. Patients completed a self-assessment questionnaire on self-perception of body image and ocular properties. Three independent examiners assessed cosmetic score. Assessed variables included prosthesis movement, eyelid symmetry, prosthesis stability, and socket fullness.
The general cosmetic result was 8.1 ± 2.19 (on a predetermined scale of 1-10) as perceived by the patients and 7.
