On the other hand, major myelin proteins including myelin-associated glycoprotein and myelin basic protein, as well as mature oligodendrocytes, were decreased in the hippocampus of stress-maladaptive, but not stress-adaptive, ****. Furthermore, while the levels of phosphorylated-extracellular signal-regulated kinase (p-ERK) were increased in the hippocampus of stress-adaptive, this change did not occur in stress-maladaptive ****. Taken together, the present findings suggest that LIF, which may be derived from activated astrocytes, plays a critical role in the maintenance of hippocampal myelination via an ERK signaling pathway, and contributes to the development of stress adaptation.Resting state functional connectivity can be leveraged to investigate bilingual individual differences in cognitive control of language; however, thus far no report is provided on how the connectivity profiles of brain functional networks at rest point to different language control behavior in bilinguals. In order to address this gap in state-of-the-art research we did a functional connectivity analysis on the resting state data acquired via multiband EPI to investigate three resting state networks of interest namely, the frontoparietal network (FPN), the salience network (SN), and the default mode network (DMN), which are related to cognitive control, between two groups of Dutch-English bilinguals based on how they performed in a language switching task. Results demonstrated that there is the increased coupling of the left primary somatosensory cortex with the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex in the group with better performance in cognitive control of language and the increased coupling of the right primary somatosensory cortex with the inferior parietal cortex in the group with poorer performance in this executive function. As regards these results, we claim that the primary somatosensory cortex has a dual function in coupling with the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex and the inferior parietal cortex in the FPN, and in fact, in what characterizes bilingual individual differences in cognitive control of language in healthy participants. The results of this study provide a model for future research in cognitive control of language and may serve as a reference in clinical neuroscience when bilinguals are diagnosed with dysfunction in cognitive control.Cardiac MRI of small animal models of cancer radiation therapy (RT) is a valuable tool for studying the effect of RT on the heart. However, standard cardiac MRI exams require long scanning times, which is challenging for sick animals that may not survive extended periods of imaging under anesthesia. The purpose of this study is to develop an optimized, fast MRI exam for comprehensive cardiac functional imaging of small-animal models of cancer RT. Ten adult female rats (2 non-irradiated and 8 irradiated) were scanned using the developed exam. Optimal imaging parameters were determined, which minimized scanning time while ensuring measurement accuracy and avoiding imaging artifacts. This optimized, fast MRI exam lasted for 30 min, which was tolerated by all animals. EF was normal in all imaged rats, although it was significantly increased in the irradiated rats, which also showed ventricular hypertrophy. However, myocardial strain was significantly reduced in the irradiated rats. The patient characteristics, therapy received and outcomes after one or more implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) generator changes from contemporary practice is not well known.
We conducted a health service evaluation of patients who underwent ICD implantation and generator change. Patients who had generator changes from February 2016 to October 2019 were identified from our database and electronic records were reviewed for patient characteristics, number of generator changes, receipt of therapy and death.
Our database included 88 patients with a generator change. A total of 22 patients (25.0%) received dual chamber ICD, 10 patients (11.4%) received single chamber ICD, 54 patients (61.3%) received cardiac resynchronization therapy defibrillator and 2 patients (2.3%) received subcutaneous ICD. A second generator change occurred in 18 patients and a third generator changes was performed in 6 patients. There were 29 deaths and a follow up period of 9.4±2.9 years. From implant to initial generator change 39 patients had appropriate antitachycardia pacing (ATP), 6 patient had inappropriate ATP, 29 patients had appropriate shocks and 5 patients had an inappropriate shock.
