Several studies proved that anodic oxidation improves osseointegration. This study aimed to optimize osseointegration through anodization in dental implants, obtaining anatase phase and controlled nanotopography.

The division of the groups with 60 titanium implants was control (CG); sandblasted (SG); anodized (AG) anodized pulsed current (duty cycle 30%, 30 V, 0.2 A and 1000 Hz). Before surgery, surface characterization was performed using Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), X-ray Dispersive Energy Spectroscopy (EDS) and Raman Spectroscopy. For in vivo tests, 10 New Zealand white rabbits received an implant from each group. The sacrifice period was 2 and 6 weeks (
= 5) and the specimens were subjected to computed microtomography (μCT) and reverse torque test.

AFM and SEM demonstrated a particular nanotopography on the surface in AG; the anatase phase was proved by Raman spectroscopy. In the μCT and in the reverse torque test, the AG group presented better results than the other groups.

The chemical composition and structure of the TiO
film were positively affected by the anodizing technique, intensifying the biological characteristics in osseointegration.

Despite advances in its treatment, liver cancer remains one of the most difficult cancers to treat. This study aimed to investigate the ameliorative action and potential mechanism of Aspergillus awamori (ASP) administration against the initiation process of liver carcinogenesis induced by diethylnitrosamine (DEN) in male Wistar rats. Seventy-two male rats were divided equally into eight groups as follows, Group 1 untreated control; Group 2 DEN (200 mg/kg bw) intra-peritoneally for the initiation of HCC; Groups 3-5 DEN + ASP at a dose of 1, 0.5, and 0.25 mg/kg bw and groups 6-8 ASP at a dose of 1, 0.5, and 0.25 mg/kg bw. Supplementation of A. awamori significantly lightened the adverse impacts induced by DEN via restoring the leukogram to normal, lowering the elevated serum aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine transaminase (ALT), and γ-glutamyl transferase (GGT), and alkaline phosphatase (ALP). Furthermore, it enhanced the hepatic antioxidant capacity through increasing the reduced glutathione (GSH) level and catalase (CAT) activity with a marked reduction in malondialdehyde (MDA) level. In addition, it decreased the positive GST-P foci. Likewise, a significant alteration of DEN-associated hepatocarcinogenesis occurred through inhibiting cytochrome P450 (Cyp19) and activating p53 gene expression. In conclusion, supplementation of A. awamori counteracts the negative effects of DEN, inhibits the early development of GST-P-positive foci and could be used as a new alternative strategy for its chemo-preventive effect in liver cancer. To the best of our knowledge, the present study is the first to report the hepato-protective effect of A. awamori in induced hepatocarcinogenesis.Healthcare Artificial Intelligence (AI) has the greatest opportunity for development. Since healthcare and technology are two of Taiwan's most competitive industries, the development of healthcare AI is an excellent chance for Taiwan to improve its health-related services. From the perspective of economic development, promoting healthcare AI must be a top priority. However, despite having many breakthroughs in research and pilot projects, healthcare AI is still considered rare and is broadly used in the healthcare setting. Based on a medical center in Taiwan that has introduced a variety of healthcare AI into practice, this study discussed and analyzed the issues and concerns in the development and scaling of medical AIs from the perspective of various stakeholders in the healthcare setting, including the government, healthcare institutions, users (healthcare workers), and AI providers. The present study also identified critical influential factors for the deployment and scaling of healthcare AI. It is hoped that this paper can serve as an important reference for the advancement of healthcare AI not only in Taiwan but also in other countries. This case report demonstrates that Tc-99m labeled heat-damaged red blood cell single-photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography (spleen SPECT/CT) and F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/CT (FDG PET/CT) could noninvasively confirm splenosis mimicking peritoneal seeding of advanced sigmoid colon cancer with hepatic metastases, and played a crucial role in determining the treatment plan. The parasympathetic nervous system is critically involved in the regulation of tear secretion by activating muscarinic acetylcholine receptors. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/td139.html Hence, various animal models targeting parasympathetic signaling have been developed to induce dry eye disease (DED). However, the muscarinic receptor subtype (M1-M5) mediating tear secretion remains to be determined. This study was conducted to test the hypothesis that the M3 receptor subtype regulates tear secretion and to evaluate the ocular surface phenotype of **** with targeted disruption of the M3 receptor (M3R-/-). The experimental techniques included quantification of tear production, fluorescein staining of the ocular surface, environmental scanning electron microscopy, assessment of proliferating cells in the corneal epithelium and of goblet cells in the conjunctiva, quantification of mRNA for inflammatory cytokines and prooxidant redox enzymes and quantification of reactive oxygen species. Tear volume was reduced in M3R-/- **** compared to age-matched controls at the age of 3 months and 15 months, respectively. This was associated with mild corneal epitheliopathy in the 15-month-old but not in the 3-month-old M3R-/- ****. M3R-/- **** at the age of 15 months also displayed changes in corneal epithelial cell texture, reduced conjunctival goblet cell density, oxidative stress and elevated mRNA expression levels for inflammatory cytokines and prooxidant redox enzymes. The findings suggest that the M3 receptor plays a pivotal role in tear production and its absence leads to ocular surface changes typical for DED at advanced age.
