The results of previous studies on the effect of low-dose aspirin in frozen-thawed embryo transfer (FET) cycles are limited and controversial.
To evaluate the effect of low-dose aspirin on the clinical pregnancy in the FET cycles.
This study was performed as a randomized clinical trial from May 2018 to February 2019; 128 women who were candidates for the FET were randomly assigned to two groups receiving either 80 mg oral aspirin (n = 64) or no treatment. The primary outcome was clinical pregnancy rate and secondary outcome measures were the implantation rate, miscarriage rate, and endometrial thickness.
The endometrial thickness was lower in patients who received aspirin in comparison to the control group. There were statistically significant differences between the two groups (p = 0.018). Chemical and clinical pregnancy rates and abortion rate was similar in the two groups and there was no statistically significant difference.
The administration of aspirin in FET cycles had no positive effect on the implantation and the chemical and clinical pregnancy rates, which is in accordance with current Cochrane review that does not recommend aspirin administration as a routine in assisted reproductive technology cycles.

The GBs studied are naturally divided into three groups according to the structural units forming the GB core. We find that, within each group, the GB thermal conductivity strongly correlates with the excess GB energy. All three groups predict nearly the same GB conductivity extrapolated to the high-energy limit. This limiting value is close to the thermal conductivity of amorphous Si, suggesting similar heat transport mechanisms. While the lattice thermal conductivity decreases with temperature, the GB conductivity slightly increases. However, at high temperatures it turns over and starts decreasing if the GB structure undergoes a premelting transformation. This article describes the clinical and multimodal imaging characteristics of subthreshold exudative choroidal neovascularization (CNV) associated with age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
Among 3773 patients with AMD, 8 eyes (6 patients) were identified with the clinical phenotype of interest. Dilated fundus examinations, color fundus photography, fluorescein angiography (FA), indocyanine green angiography (ICGA), optical coherence tomography (OCT), and OCT angiography (OCTA) were performed.
OCT typically showed a moderately reflective irregular pigment epithelial detachment with overlying subretinal fluid (SRF). Traditional FA did not show leakage and ICGA showed no definitive neovascular network or hot spots. However, OCTA clearly demonstrated a CNV within the pigment epithelial detachment. The majority of our cases (7 of 8) did not receive antivascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) injections, and visual acuity remained stable over the available follow-up period of I to 10 years.
CNV is often associated with SRF and vision loss in AMD, usually requiring frequent anti-VEGF injections. OCTA allowed us to better identify CNV not readily detected on FA and ICGA. Although some have suggested early clinical intervention with anti-VEGF injections in any case with fluid and confirmed CNV on OCTA, we describe a subset of AMD patients with SRF who may be better managed by observation. These cases may represent a more indolent, mature, and stable vascular network.

Most of the relevant outcomes research derives from academic centers, but most thyroid surgeries are performed in the community. The goal of this study is to evaluate the safety of total thyroidectomy performed as an ambulatory procedure in a community otolaryngology practice.

Adult patients undergoing total thyroidectomy by a single otolaryngologist between 2013 and 2019 were divided into 2 cohorts planned ambulatory and planned admission. Charts were reviewed for demographics and surgical outcomes in the 2 groups. The Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project databases for New York and Florida between 2015 and 2016 were also analyzed to compare outcomes of thyroidectomy as an ambulatory surgery between different practice settings.
A total of 99 total thyroidectomies were performed during the study time period; 66 of 99 (67%) were planned as ambulatory procedures and 33 of 99 (33%) were planned admissions.
