IMP-1-producing Pseudomonas aeruginosa was first reported in Japan and since then, bacteria with this metallo-β-lactamase have been detected worldwide. Pseudomonas monteilii (part of P. putida group) were considered an environmental pathogen with low virulence potential; however, multidrug-resistant and carbapenem-resistant P. monteilii have emerged. In Microbial Biotechnology, archaea are historically overshadowed by bacteria and eukaryotes in terms of public awareness, industrial application, and scientific studies, although their biochemical and physiological properties show a vast potential for a wide range of biotechnological applications. Today, the majority of microbial cell factories utilized for the production of value-added and high value compounds on an industrial scale are bacterial, fungal or algae based. Nevertheless, archaea are becoming ever more relevant for biotechnology as their cultivation and genetic systems improve. Some of the main advantages of archaeal cell factories are the ability to cultivate many of these often extremophilic organisms under non-sterile conditions, and to utilize inexpensive feedstocks often toxic to other microorganisms, thus drastically reducing cultivation costs. Currently, the only commercially available products of archaeal cell factories are bacterioruberin, squalene, bacteriorhodopsin and diether-/tetraether-lipids, all of which are produced utilizing halophiles. Other archaeal products, such as carotenoids and biohydrogen, as well as polyhydroxyalkanoates and methane are in early to advanced development stages, respectively. The aim of this review is to provide an overview of the current state of Archaea Biotechnology by describing the actual state of research and development as well as the industrial utilization of archaeal cell factories, their role and their potential in the future of sustainable bioprocessing, and to illustrate their physiological and biotechnological potential.Propranolol (PPL) administered orally is considered as the first line drug for the treatment of infantile hemangioma, however several systemic adverse effects limit its use. For this reason, our work tackles the development and evaluation of PPL loaded chitosan nanoparticles (NPs), as an effective alternative for the treatment of infantile hemangioma. PPL -NPs were prepared using the double emulsion technique and the influence of the formulation variables on drug entrapment efficiency (EE), particle size (PS), percent released after 24 h (%R24h) and zeta potential (ZP) were optimized using full factorial design. Two systems, namely F3 and F28 showing highest E.E., ZP and %R24h with lowest PS, were fully characterized for DSC and TEM and incorporated into hydrogel with adequate viscosity. After ensuring safety for the selected nanoparticle, the hydrogel containing the optimized system was applied topically to rats. The in-vivo skin deposition in rats showed an accumulation of propranolol from the lecithin/chitosan nanocarrier by 1.56-1.91-fold when compared to the drug solution. The obtained result was further supported by the confocal laser scanning microscopy which showed fluorescence across the skin. PPL-HCL-loaded lecithin/chitosan nanoparticles could be considered as a potential candidate for treating infantile hemangiomas (IH) by maintaining therapeutic concentration topically while minimizing systemic side effects.Internalizing (anxiety and depressive) disorders, and the symptoms that comprise them, are known for being chronic and recurrent. Neuroticism, reflecting dispositional tendencies toward negative affect, is a personality trait that bears durable cross-sectional and prospective associations with internalizing symptoms. There are also indications that extraversion, consisting of tendencies such as the heightened experience of positive emotion, is associated with these symptoms. Some investigators have posited that the experience of internalizing symptoms leaves residual effects, or scars, on personality traits, with the effect of raising risk of symptom reexacerbation. In the present study, we compare vulnerability and scar effects in a sample of older adolescents (N = 606) at risk for the development of internalizing disorders. Anxiety and depressive symptoms were assessed annually, as were neuroticism, extraversion, and other trait-like cognitive vulnerabilities. Free-water elimination DTI (FWE-DTI) has been used widely to distinguish increases of free-water partial-volume effects from tissue's diffusion in healthy aging and degenerative diseases. Because the FWE-DTI fitting is only well-posed for multishell acquisitions, a regularized gradient descent (RGD) method was proposed to enable application to single-shell data, more common in the clinic. However, the validity of the RGD method has been poorly assessed. This study aims to quantify the specificity of FWE-DTI procedures on single-shell and multishell data.

Different FWE-DTI fitting procedures were tested on an open-source in vivo diffusion data set and single-shell and multishell synthetic signals, including the RGD and standard nonlinear least-squares methods. Single-voxel simulations were carried out to compare initialization approaches. A multivoxel phantom simulation was performed to evaluate the effect of spatial regularization when comparing between methods. To test the algorithms' specificity, phantoms with two different types of lesions were simulated with altered mean diffusivity or with modified free water.
