Financial toxicity (FT) refers to the detrimental effects of financial strain caused by a cancer diagnosis on the well-being of patients and their families. It is highly prevalent among cancer patients and has been associated with inferior clinical outcomes.
To summarize the literature regarding FT among patients with prostate, bladder, and kidney cancer, and to propose a framework for future FT investigations.
Primary manuscripts and abstracts reporting FT as a primary or secondary outcome or a covariate in patients with prostate, bladder, or kidney cancer, published before May 2020, were retrieved using the PubMed, Scopus, Embase, CINAHL, and Cochrane databases in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses (PRISMA) statement. Of 629 titles identified, 19, ten, and two studies met the inclusion criteria for prostate, bladder, and kidney cancer, respectively, and were included (24 unique articles).
Significant heterogeneity was observed in covariates, methodtoxicity affects many prostate, bladder, and kidney cancer patients; however, this toxicity is understudied. It is associated with decreased quality of life and lower medication and treatment adherence.
To compare cardiovascular and ventilatory effects, immobilization quality and effects on tissue perfusion of a medetomidine-ketamine-midazolam combination with or without vatinoxan (MK-467), a peripherally acting α
-adrenoceptor antagonist.
Randomized, blinded, crossover study.
A group of nine healthy Patagonian maras (Dolichotis patagonum).
Maras were immobilized twice with 1) medetomidine hydrochloride (0.1 mg kg
)+ ketamine (5 mg kg
)+ midazolam (0.1 mg kg
) (MKM)+ saline or 2) MKM+ vatinoxan hydrochloride (0.8 mg kg
), administered intramuscularly. Drugs were mixed in the same syringe. At 20, 30 and 40 minutes after injection, invasive blood pressure, heart rate, respiration rate, end-tidal CO
, haemoglobin oxygen saturation, and muscle oxygenation were measured, arteriovenous oxygen content difference was calculated. Muscle tone, jaw tone, spontaneous blinking and palpebral reflex were evaluated. Times to initial effect, recumbency, initial arousal and control of the head were recorded. Paid by medetomidine. Muscle and jaw tone were more frequently present with MKM, indicating that quality of immobilization with vatinoxan was more profound.
Diabetes affects most of the organs causing macrovascular and microvascular complications. Diabetic retinopathy (DR) results from the prolonged uncontrolled hyperglycemia which causes impairment of vision. Quality of life (QoL) of patients with DR is affected due to vision loss. National Eye Institute Visual Functioning Questionnaire (NEI-VFQ-25) is the questionnaire used to study the effect of DR on QoL.
To assess the QoL of the patients with DR.
The study enrolled 149 (male-104 and female 45) patients with DR. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/cay10566.html The previous translated and validated version of NEI-VFQ-25 questionnaire was used in the study.
Cronbach alpha for internal consistency was between 0.6 and 0.8. The male patient showed significantly higher (p<0.05) QoL scores (60.73±1.63) as compared to the female patients (53.15±2.84). Hypertensive patients showed poor QoL as compared to non-hypertensive patients. The patients with a history of diabetes for 16-30 yrs. showed better QoL as compared to other patients.
DR affects the QoL of life of patients. Routine assessment of QoL using NEI-VFQ-25 questionnaire would be useful for physicians and health care team.

Positive margins are the most important factor for recurrence of the disease after breast-conserving surgery. Several methods have been developed throughout the years to evaluate the margin status during surgery in an attempt to assist the surgeon in excising the whole tumor at once, a goal that has not yet been accomplished.
In our study, we compared intraoperative flow cytometry (iFC) with cytology and pathology in order to evaluate 606 samples of margins and tumors corresponding to 99 patients with invasive ductal carcinoma of no special type and invasive lobular carcinoma obtained from breast-conserving surgeries.
Using the pathology as the gold standard, flow cytometry had 93.3% sensitivity, 92.4% specificity, and 92.5% accuracy. Cytology had 82.3% sensitivity, 94.6% specificity, and 94.2% accuracy.
Our data support the suggestion that iFC is a novel, reliable technique that allows rapid evaluation of the excision margins of lumpectomies, thus improving the precision of breast-conserving surgery. Among the advantages of iFC are that it does not rely on the expertise of a pathologist or cytologist, it is low cost, and it has no additional psychological effect on patients, because no re-operation is needed.
Our data support the suggestion that iFC is a novel, reliable technique that allows rapid evaluation of the excision margins of lumpectomies, thus improving the precision of breast-conserving surgery. Identify the incidental findings of Covid-19 pneumonitis on
F-FDG PET/CT scan in asymptomatic oncologic patients. The goal was to detect clinically unsuspected Covid-19 infections to prevent community spread.
Retrospective analysis was conducted to recognize the pattern of metabolic and radiographic alterations on
F-FDG PET/CT scans in Covid-19 patients. 492
F-FDG PET/CT scans were reviewed for pulmonary and systemic abnormalities.
F-FDG PET/CT demonstrated new lung infiltrates in 29 asymptomatic patients. 13/29 patients had Covid-19 infection confirmed by nasopharyngeal nucleic acid PCR test. The most common lung abnormality was pure ground-glass opacity (GGO) (90%) in peripheral distribution (100%), involving 1 lobe in four patients (30.8%), 2-3 lobes in four patients, and 4-5 lobes in five patients (38.4%). Mean SUVmax was 4.7 (range 1.3-13.1). Ten patients developed symptoms, mainly fever, fatigue, and dry cough, within 6.4±7.8 days (range 1-24). Of the available laboratory data of 12 patients, eight developed lymphopenia, and five patients had neutrophilia.
