We performed a comprehensive behavioral test battery to characterize the Arc-CreERT2 × CAG-Sun1/sfGFP mouse line which enables targeted recombination in active populations. We performed a molecular study in Arc-CreERT2 × CAG-Sun1/sfGFP female **** using both immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization. RESULTS Arc-CreERT2 × CAG-Sun1/sfGFP **** showed sex differences in sociability and anxiety tests. Moreover, ketamine and (2R,6R)-HNK had opposite effects in the forced swim test (FST) depending on gender. In addition, in male ****, ketamine-treated animals were less immobile compared to (2R,6R)-HNK, thus showing a different profile of the two drugs in the FST. At the molecular level we identified Bdnf mRNA level to be increased after ketamine treatment in female ****. CONCLUSION Arc-CreERT2 × CAG-Sun1/sfGFP **** showed sex differences in social and anxiety behavior and a different pattern between ketamine and (2R,6R)-HNK in the FST in male and female ****. At the molecular level, female **** treated with ketamine showed an increase of Bdnf mRNA level, as previously observed in male ****.Hypoxia-induced upregulation of lincRNA-p21 in tumor tissue was previously shown by our group to be related to poor prognosis in resected non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients. In the present study, we have evaluated the presence of lincRNA-p21 in extracellular vesicles (EVs) from NSCLC patients and assessed its potential as a prognostic biomarker. High EV lincRNA-p21 levels in blood from the tumor-draining vein were associated with shorter time to relapse and shorter overall survival. Moreover, the multivariate analysis identified high lincRNA-p21 levels as an independent prognostic marker. In addition, lincRNA-p21 was overexpressed in H23 and HCC44 NSCLC cell lines and their derived EVs under hypoxic conditions. Functional assays using human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) showed that tumor-derived EVs enriched in lincRNA-p21 affected endothelial cells by promoting tube formation and enhancing tumor cell adhesion to endothelial cells. While most pedestrian injury studies rely predominantly on statistical modelling, this paper argues for a mixed-methods approach combining spatial analysis, environmental scans, and local knowledge for assessing environmental risk factors. Using data from the Nova Scotia Trauma Registry, severe pedestrian injury cases and ten corresponding hotspots were mapped across the Halifax Regional Municipality. Using qualitative observation, quantitative environmental scans, and a socioeconomic deprivation index, we assessed hotspots over three years to identify key social- and built-environmental correlates. Injuries occurred in a range of settings; however, clear patterns were not observed based on land use, age, or socio-economic status (SES) alone. Three hotspots revealed an association between elevated pedestrian injury and a pattern of geographic, environmental, and socio-economic factors low- to middle-SES housing separated from a roadside attraction by several lanes of traffic, and blind hills/bends. An additional generalized scenario was constructed representing common risk factors across all hotspots. This study is unique in that it moves beyond individual measures (e.g., statistical, environmental scans, or geographic information systems (GIS) mapping) to combine all three methods toward identifying environmental features associated with pedestrian motor vehicle crashes (PMVC).Synthetic foams have become an essential industrial product for a great variety of applications. Furfuryl alcohol, as a biomass chemical, was reacted with glyoxal at room temperature to prepare furanic-glyoxal rigid foams, and p-toluenesulfonic acid was used as a catalyst to initiate the reaction. Foams with different molar ratios (furfuryl alcohol/glyoxal) were prepared in this work, and uniform cells foams have been obtained. Their compression resistance, 24-h water absorption, density, and other basic properties were tested. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to observe the cellular morphology of the foams prepared, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) helped to understand their thermal and combustion properties, and FTIR and Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption Ionisation Time of Flight (MALDI ToF) mass spectroscopy to explain the structure of the resulting foams to clarify the reactions occurring during foaming. The results show that the compression resistance of furanic-glyoxal foams declined as the furfuryl alcohol/glyoxal ratio decreases also. SEM observations revealed that foams with open-cell were obtained when furfuryl alcohol was added in greater amounts, and more closed cell structures were formed as the proportion of glyoxal increased. TGA results showed that the initial ignition temperature of furanic-glyoxal foams is ~200 °C higher than that of wood, and the smaller comprehensive combustion index S (about 0.15 × 10-7 (%2 K-3 min-2)) indicates that the foam burns slowly and has poor flammability, that is, it is not easy to burn.
