RESULTS Cases (52% women; age 65±7y; BMI 30±4kg/m2 ; KLG0/1/2 5/8/22) and controls (52% women; age 64±7y; BMI 30±5kg/m2 ; KLG0/1/2 9/4/22) were similar. Compared to control knees, KR case knees displayed longitudinal changes, specifically, a decrease in tibial plateau coverage, an increase in meniscal extrusion, and a decrease in meniscal width. The odds for KR increased with greater reduction in percent tibial plateau coverage (OR 2.28, 95%CI [1.43; 3.64]), greater increase in maximal extrusion (1.40 [1.12; 1.75]), and greater reduction of mean meniscal width (2.01 [1.23; 3.26]). The odds for KR increased with medial compartment cartilage thickness loss (OR 2.86 [1.51; 5.41]) for comparison. CONCLUSIONS Quantitative measures of meniscal position and morphology are associated with subsequent KR in knees with rapidly progressing KOA. BACKGROUND Limited data on BMS usage in current clinical practice are available. METHODS All patients who underwent PCI with at least one BMS implantation in 18 Italian centers from January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2017, were included in our registry. Rates of BMS use and reasons for BMS implantations were reported for the overall study period and for each year. Primary outcomes were mortality, bleeding (Bleeding Academic Research Consortium-BARC and Thrombolysis in Myocardial Infarction-TIMI non-CABG definitions), and major adverse cardiac events (****) defined as the composite of all-cause and cardiac death, any myocardial infarction, target vessel revascularization, or any stent thrombosis. RESULTS Among 58,879 patients undergoing PCI in the study period, 2,117 (3.6%) patients (mean age 73 years, 69.7% males, 73.3% acute coronary syndrome) were treated with BMS implantation (2,353 treated lesions). The rate of BMS implantation progressively decreased from 10.1% (2013) to 0.3% (2017). Main reasons for BMS implantation were ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) (23.1%), advanced age (24.4%), and physician's perception of high-bleeding risk (34.0%). At a mean follow-up of 2.2 ± 1.5 years, all-cause and cardiac mortality were 25.6 and 12.7%, respectively; **** rate was 35.3%, any bleeding rate was 13.0% (BARC 3-5 bleeding 6.3%, TIMI non-CABG major bleeding 6.1%). CONCLUSION In a large, contemporary, real-world, multicenter registry, BMS use progressively reduced over the last 5 years. The current evidence on catecholamine support and thyroid hormone replacement is also discussed. The prepared CDs showed blue-green fluorescence under UV light. The fluorescence emission study of the CDs revealed that they showed maximum fluorescence emission at 500 nm. The prepared CDs showed a high quantum yield of 33.23%. Solvent-dependent fluorescence emission analysis of the CDs was performed to study the variation in fluorescence emission characteristics with solvent polarity. The prepared CDs were conjugated with amoxicillin (AMX) to explore its potential for use as a drug delivery agent for AMX. The drug release profile of the CD-AMX conjugates was analyzed at different pH (5.0, 6.8 and 7.2) to study drug release kinetics. CD-AMX conjugates showed notable bacterial inhibition against Gram-positive (S. aureus) and Gram-negative (E. coli) strains with minimal cytotoxic effects, indicating its potential as a promising antibacterial drug delivery system. © 2020 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.Rice planthoppers are notorious plant sap-feeding pests that cause serious damage. While several microbes in rice planthoppers have been broadly characterized, the abundance and diversity of bacteria and fungi in field planthoppers are largely unknown. This study investigated the bacterial and fungal community compositions of Chinese wild rice planthoppers Laodelphax striatellus and Sogatella furcifera using parallel 16S rRNA gene amplicon and internal transcribed space region sequencing. The bacteria varied significantly between the species and were partitioned significantly by sexes, tissues and host environments in each species. The majority of bacteria were affiliated with the genera Wolbachia, Cardinium, Rickettsia and Pantoea. The abundance of Wolbachia was negatively correlated with that of Cardinium in both planthopper species. Compared with bacteria, the abundance and diversity of fungi did not differ between sexes but both were enriched in the gut. The bacterial community as a whole showed no significant correlation with the fungal community.
