Turner syndrome (TS) is a chromosomal condition that affects development in females. The case of TS in the mother whose child was diagnosed with acute leukemia at the age of 1.5 years is presented. FANCI gene in child was detected among 94 genes associated- with hematologic malignancies. Acute lymphoblastic leukemia, common-B ІІ, L1, associated with t(12;21)(p13;q22), TEL/AML1 (ETV6/RUNX1) in a child was detected during a prophylactic examination. During the treatment of the baby, the mother had a second pregnancy, which ended in miscarriage at 8 weeks. Upon cytogenetic examination in the mother TS was revealed - mos45,Х[23]/46, ХХ[7], and the father's karyotype was without abnormalities (46, ХУ). After chemotherapy, the child is in clinical-hematological remission. It could be suggested that chromosomal abnormalities in mother with TS may cause the chromosomal instability and hematological malignancy in offspring.
Previous studies have pointed out the role of dickkopf-related protein 1 (DKK1)- Wnt inhibitor, which is essential for osteoblast functioning, in the development of osteolytic lesions in multiple myeloma (MM).
To assess the DKK1expression displayed by myeloma cells in bone marrow trephine biopsies of patients with and without osteolytic lesions, and in different malignancy grades of the disease.
The expression level of DKK1was assessed immunohistochemically in bone marrow of 49MM patients presented with and without osteolytic lesions (the 1
and the 2
group, respectively).
Levels of weak, moderate, and strong DKK1expression were distributed- as 43.33, 27.78and 25.56%, and 63.91, 18.80, and 1.50%, respectively when evaluating the samples obtained from the 1
and the 2
group. Statistically significant differences were found when the levels of DKK1expression in the 1
and the 2
group were compared (χ
= 51; df= 3; p< 0.001).
DKK1contributes to the development of osteolytic lesions in MM. The present study provides morphological evidence that inhibition in Wnt signaling may lead to bone damage observed in the advanced stage of the disease.

To determine the content of low-spin form of cytochrome P450in primary tumors and liver metastases of the patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) and and assess its prognostic significance.
The levels of the oxidized and low-spin forms of cytochrome P450in the tissues of patients with mCRC were studied by electron paramagnetic resonance. To detect CYP1A2and CYP1B1isoforms, Western blot analysis was used. The activity of metalloprotreinases was studied by gelatine zymography.
In the liver metastases and tissues adjacent to metastasis, the levels of low-spin forms of cytochrome P450 are lower than in the samples of conventionally normal liver tissue. Western blot analysis revealed that low-spin form of cytochrome P450in primary tumors and liver metastases detected by electron paramagnetic resonance is attributed largely to CYP1B1isoform. The content of low-spin form of cytochrome P450inversely correlated with the the activity of gelatinases (matrix metalloproteinase-2 and -9). The survival of patients with high levels of the low-spin form of cytochrome P450in tumor tissues was higher than that of patients with low levels of the enzyme (105months vs 61months).
In the primary tumors and liver metastases of patients with mCRC, the content of the low-spin form of cytochrome P450decreased, which correlated inversely with patient's survival.

The malignant melanoma (MM) incidence rates were increasing and later stabilizing in many regions of the world, while in South-Eastern Europe incidence rates are uniformly increasing and mortality rates are higher.
To describe burden of MM in Ukraine in terms of incidence, mortality and survival by sex, age and stage for the period 2002-2013and compare with European countries.
Database of the National Cancer Registry of Ukraine was used to extract MM incidence cases; number of MM deaths was obtained from the official mortality statistics. Age-standardised and age-specific incidence and mortality rates were calculated by sex, age groups (15-39, 40-59and 60+); estimated annual percent of change was used to describe trends. Proportions of new cases by stage of disease and calendar period (2002-2007vs 2008-2013) were compared as well as net survival estimates.
In Ukraine, MM was more common in females (age-standardised 5.3per 100,000in 2013; annual percent of change 3.5%) than in males (5.1per 100,000; 4.1%); around 50% of them diagnosed in the age group 60+. The observed increase in proportion of new cases with early stage (I-II) was due to stage II cases. The slight increase in mortality rates in males or stability in females were not accompanied with increase of survival. Net MM survival was consistently lower comparing to European countries.
More resources should be targeted to increase the capacity of healthcare in diagnostics and treatment of malignant melanoma, but also in promoting healthcare and education in Ukraine.

To compare expression patterns of proteins of a family of mitochondrial ribosomal protein S18 (MRPS18) in tumor cell lines of the B-cell origin.
The study has been performed on different subsets of tonsil B-cells and tumor cell lines of the B-cell origin using quantitative polymerase chain reaction analysis, western blot analysis, immunohistochemistry, bioinformatic analysis of the publicly available data bases on expression.
We have found that genes of the MRPS18family (1-3) show different expression patterns in tumor cell lines of the B-cell origin. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/rhapontigenin.html The highest levels of expression were shown for MRPS18-3, the lowest- for MRPS18-1. MRPS18-2was expressed at the highest levels in germinal center cells, Burkitt lymphoma and Hodgkin lymphoma cell lines. In lymphoblastoid cell lines, and in germinal center B-cells MRPS18-2levels were somewhat lower, but higher than in memory and plasma B-cells.
