One of the elements that may affect the accuracy and precision of the positioning of the cup is the type of surgical approach used. This study compares the accuracy and the precision of conventional free-hand acetabular cup positioning relative to different "safe zones" in two groups of patients operated with THA using two different surgical approach.
Retrospective radiological comparative matched-pair controlled study of two groups of patients operated with primary THA the first group was operated in supine decubitus with a mini-invasive direct anterior approach (DA group), the second group was operated in lateral decubitus with a conventional posterolateral approach (PL group). Cup inclination and anteversion were assessed using the digital planning software TraumaCad. Cup position in the two groups were compared in terms of accuracy and precision.
Forty four patients were enrollent which allows greater stability of the pelvis during surgery and makes it easier to target the desired angular references for cup positioning.
In order to minimize the risk of damaging the radial nerve while using a long PHILOS plate for proximal humerus fractures, recent studies have proposed twisting the plate in a helical form. This implies a modified surgical approach being yet unclear whether it leads to different middle to long-term shoulder function. This study compares the one-year shoulder functional outcomes of both techniques (helical vs. control).
In this retrospective comparative study, we analyzed 30 patients that fit the inclusion criteria, being 14 treated with a helical plate and 16 with a conventional straight long PHILOS plate. The primary endpoint was the normalized constant score after a minimum follow up of one year.
Both groups had a good one-year shoulder function, and no significant difference between the normalized constant scores was seen. There was no significant difference in the surgical complications as well.
Opting for a helical long PHILOS plate in order to avoid radial nerve damage provided a safe treatment with similarly good one-year shoulder function compared to straight PHILOS plates.

The goal of this multicenter retrospective study was to evaluate efficacy and safety of BGD (bendamustine, gemcitabine, dexamethasone) as a second or subsequent line of therapy in classical R/R HL. Fifty-eight patients (63%) had received 2 or more lines of chemotherapy, 32 patients (34.8%) radiotherapy, and 21 patients (22.8%) an autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (autoHCT). Forty-four patients (47.8%) were resistant to first line of chemotherapy. BGD therapy consisted of bendamustine 90 mg/m2 on days 1 and 2, gemcitabine 800 mg/m2 on days 1 and 4, dexamethasone 40 mg on days 1-4. Median number of BGD cycles was 4 (2-7). The following adverse events ≥ 3 grade were noted neutropenia (22.8%), thrombocytopenia (20.7%), anemia (15.2%), infections (10.9%), AST/ALT increase (2.2%), and skin rush (1.1%). After BGD therapy, 51 (55.4%) patients achieved complete remission, 23 (25%)-partial response, 7 (7.6%)-stable disease, and 11 (12%) patients experienced progression disease. AutoHCT was conducted in 42 (45.7%) patients after BGD therapy, and allogeneic HCT (alloHCT) in 16 (17.4%) patients. Median progression-free survival was 21 months. BGD is a highly effective, well-tolerated salvage regimen for patients with R/R HL, providing an excellent bridge to auto- or alloHCT.Fusarium incarnatum-equiseti species complex (FIESC) is considered as one of the richest insecticolous species. Fusarium species synthesize toxic secondary metabolites that are not fully understood. Mycotoxin production and pathogenicity on germinating seeds, seedlings, and leaves must be carefully studied for the use of Fusarium species in the biological control of insect pests. In this study, we evaluated the mycotoxin production and phytopathogenic potential of entomopathogenic strains of Fusarium sulawesiensis (1), F. pernambucanum (3), and F. caatingaense (23). The phytopathogenicity tests of F. caatingaense (URM 6776, URM 6777, URM 6778, URM 6779, and URM 6782) were performed during the development of bean (Phaseolus vulgaris, Vigna unguiculata, and Phaseolus lunatus), and corn (Zea mays) seedlings, using four treatments (soil infestation with the inoculum, spraying on leaves, root dip, and negative control). The mycotoxins, monoacetyl-deoxynivalenols (AcDON), deoxynivalenol (DON), beauvericin (BEA), fusarenone-X (FUS), T-2 toxin (T2), diacetoxyscirpenol (DAS), and zearalenone (ZEA), were detected in the study; BEA (detected in 25 strains) and FUS (detected in 21 strains) were found to be predominant.
