Bivariate correlations showed that EPO was positively associated with pgBMI, GA, sTfr and IL-6, but negatively associated with hepcidin, ferritin and hemoglobin, and unrelated to iron intake. Generalized linear models adjusted for confounding factors showed that EPO and erythrocyte concentrations were significantly higher in women in the Ob group, while mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH) and red cell distribution width (RDW) were lower; reticulocytes and mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC) were not different. Differences were not altered when controlling for inflammation (IL-6). These changes suggest that, in addition to altering iron metabolism, a larger maternal body size during pregnancy results in higher erythropoiesis without increasing hemoglobin, which is exhibited in the latter being distributed among more and smaller erythrocytes.Mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) using matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) is a powerful technique for visualizing metabolites in the strawberry fruit. During sample preparation for MALDI-MSI, sectioning of the samples is usually required. In general, MALDI-MSI analysis of strawberry fruits that are larger than a single glass slide is difficult because thin sections cannot be prepared. In this study, we attempted to visualize metabolites in large strawberry fruits by MSI, employing a blotting method that uses desorption ionization using a through-hole alumina membrane (DIUTHAME) chip. Large strawberry fruits were cut and a DIUTHAME chip was set on the cross-section to blot the metabolites. After drying the DIUTHAME chip, the metabolites were measured in positive and negative ion modes using a commercial MALDI-type mass spectrometer. Several peaks were detected in both the ion modes. Various metabolites related to food quality, such as sugars, organic acids, and anthocyanins, were detected and successfully visualized by blotting on a DIUTHAME chip in MSI. These results suggest that blotting using a DIUTHAME chip in MSI is useful for visualizing the metabolites present in the strawberry fruit.Scale-up to large-area Cu(In,Ga)Se2 (CIGS) solar panels is proving to be **** more complicated than expected. Particularly, the non-vacuum wet-chemical buffer layer formation step has remained a challenge and has acted as a bottleneck in industrial implementations for mass-production. This technical note deals with the comparative analysis of the impact on different methodologies for the buffer layer formation on CIGS solar panels. Cd(1-x)ZnxS ((Cd,Zn)S) thin films were prepared by chemical bath deposition (CBD), and chemical surface deposition (CSD) for 24-inch (37 cm × 47 cm) patterned CIGS solar panel applications. Buffer layers deposited by the CBD method showed a higher Zn addition level and transmittance than those prepared by the CSD technique due to the predominant cluster-by-cluster growth mechanism, and this induced a difference in the solar cell performance, consequently. The CIGS panels with (Cd,Zn)S buffer layer formed by the CBD method showed a 0.5% point higher conversion efficiency than that of panels with a conventional CdS buffer layer, owing to the increased current density and open-circuit voltage. The samples with the CSD (Cd,Zn)S buffer layer also increased the conversion efficiency with 0.3% point than conventional panels, but mainly due to the increased fill factor. This study aims to reduce the diffusible hydrogen content in deposited metal during gas metal arc welding (GMAW) and flux-cored arc welding (FCAW) which induces cold cracking. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/myk-461.html To achieve this, a novel welding torch with a dual gas nozzle has been developed. This special welding torch decreases the hydrogen source gas evaporated from a welding wire by the suction from the inner gas nozzle. In order to improve the suction efficiency of this evaporated gas, precise control of the suction gas flow is indispensable. In this paper, a simplified numerical simulation model of this process has been described. This model can take account of the evaporation of the hydrogen source gas from the wire while simulating the behavior of the shielding gas and the arc. Using this model, the effect of suction nozzle structure and torch operating conditions on suction gas flow pattern and suction efficiency was also investigated to understand the process mechanism. Furthermore, the diffusible hydrogen content in deposited metal was measured by chromatography as a validation step. Results show that some of the shielding gas introduced from a shielding nozzle was drawn inward and also branched into an upward flow that was sucked into the suction nozzle and a downward flow to a base metal. This branching height was defined as the suction limit height, which decisively governed the suction efficiency. As a result, in order to reduce the diffusible hydrogen, it was suggested that the suction limit height should be controlled towards below the wire position, where the evaporation rate of the hydrogen source gas peaks through optimization of the suction nozzle design and the torch operating conditions.Sulfur-doped TiO2 (S-TiO2) composites with reduced graphene oxide (rGO), wt. % of rGO equal to 0.5%, 2.75%, and 5.0%, were prepared by a one-pot solvothermal procedure. The aim was to improve photocatalytic performance in comparison to TiO2 under simulated solar irradiation for the treatment of diclofenac (DCF) in aqueous medium. The obtained composites were characterized for physical-chemical properties using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), X-ray diffractograms (XRD), Raman, scanning electron microscopy (SEM)/energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), Brauner Emmett Teller (BET), and photoluminescence (PL) analyses, indicating successful sulfur doping and inclusion of rGO. Sulfur doping and rGO have successfully led to a decrease in photogenerated charge recombination. However, both antagonistic and synergistic effects toward DCF treatment were observed, with the latter being brought forward by higher wt.% rGO. The composite with 5.0 wt.% rGO has shown the highest DCF conversion at pH 4 compared to that obtained by pristine TiO2, despite lower DCF adsorption during the initial dark period.
