Eighteen Chinese adults with poor reading fluency and 18 age-matched normal readers participated. Their VAS skills were measured by a visual one-**** task with symbols as nonverbal stimuli and key pressing as nonverbal responses, while relevant electrophysiological signals were recorded. The results showed that lower d' values and abnormal electrophysiological activities (especially weak amplitudes in the N1 and P3 components) in the VAS task were observed for the nonfluent readers compared with the controls. These findings suggested that the low VAS capacity in adults with poor reading fluency could be reflected by problems both in directing selective attention to visually discriminate stimuli within a multielement string at the early processing stage and in allocating attention to further encode targets at the late processing stage. Alternative explanations were further discussed. The current results provide theoretical explanations of the VAS-RFD relationship from a temporal perspective and provide insights for future remediation of reading fluency difficulty.
Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide. The early detection of lung cancer is crucial for the diagnosis of this disease. Therefore, an effective and noninvasive method for the early diagnosis of lung cancer is urgently needed.
To evaluate the diagnostic performance of circulating genetically abnormal cells (CACs) in early lung cancer, a total of 63 participants who completed CAC detection by Zhuhai SanMed Biotech Inc. and obtained pathological results from January to December 2020 were included in our study; 50 patients had lung cancer and 13 patients had benign lung disease. The levels of lung cancer-related markers in peripheral blood and the chest computed tomography (CT) imaging characteristics of these patients were collected before pathological acquisition.
The positive rate of CAC was 90.0% in the lung cancer group and 23.1% in the benign lung disease group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.01). The area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve of CAC was 0.837, the sensitivity was 90%, and the specificity was 76.9%. The area under the ROC curve and sensitivity were both higher than those of the combined or single serum tumor marker test.
This study preliminarily concludes that the CAC test, as a noninvasive test, has high sensitivity and specificity for the early diagnosis of lung cancer. This test is expected to help with the early detection of disease in lung cancer patients.

Here, we report the effects of long-term, low-dose ultraviolet (UV) supplementation to white light-emitting diode (LED) light exposure on intestinal microorganisms and bone metabolism, as well as the correlations between the two. Normal and ovariectomized rats were irradiated with LED white light with or without supplementation with UV. The effects of UV supplementation on the intestinal flora and the relationship between the intestinal flora and bone were investigated by measuring the intestinal flora, bone metabolism markers, and bone histomorphology. UV supplementation affected the bone density and bone mass by changing the relative content of Firmicutes, Saccharibacteria, and Proteobacteria; however, the intestinal flora were not the only factors affecting bone. Ultraviolet supplementation changed the composition and function of the gut flora in the bone loss model. By increasing the synthesis of short-chain fatty acids and affecting immunomodulatory, intestinal flora directly or indirectly regulate the activity of osteoclasts and thus mediate UV-mediated improvements in bone metabolism. Our work shows that UV supplementation affects bone density by influencing the intestinal flora, introducing a novel strategy to develop healthier artificial light sources and prevent bone loss.
