  • Gain-of-function Kirsten rat sarcoma viral oncogene homolog (KRAS) mutations occur in 25% of lung adenocarcinomas, and these tumors are challenging to treat. Some preclinical work, largely based on cell lines, suggested KRASmut lung cancers are especially dependent on the nuclear export protein exportin-1 (XPO1), while other work supports XPO1 being a broader cancer dependency. To investigate the sensitivity of KRASmut lung cancers to XPO1 inhibition in models that more closely match clinical tumors, we treated 10 independently established lung cancer patient-derived tumor xenografts (PDXs) with the clinical XPO1 inhibitor, Selinexor. By mining genome-wide dropout datasets, we identified XPO1 as a universal cancer cell dependency and confirmed this functionally in two KRASWT PDX models harboring kinase drivers. However, targeted kinase inhibitors were more effective than Selinexor in these models. This review will discuss the types of IDO inhibitors and the relevant clinical trials, especially those of the feasible combined therapeutic modalities.     Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) as a brain stimulation modality is approved for the treatment of resistant depression and its efficacy in depression is also well supported in several studies. However, its effect on suicidality is still unclear, unlike electroconvulsive therapy.

    This paper provides a systematic review of the literature published till June 2021. Studies that used rTMS as either monotherapy or adjunctive treatment in patients with suicidality, irrespective of their diagnosis, were included. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines was followed. A total of 20 studies (N = 1584) were included for the qualitative synthesis. The quality of studies was assessed using the Cochrane Risk of Bias tool for Randomised control trials (RCT) and the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale tool for Non-Randomised studies (NRS).

    Of the 20 articles selected for qualitative synthesis, 11 were RCTs and 9 were NRS. The results are categorized in domains of s was present in the reviewed studies.
    Total hip arthroplasty is known as one of the best advancements in orthopedics in the 20th century. Due to age or trauma hip joint has to replace by an artificial implant. After the hip arthroplasty, the patients can return to normal day-to-day activities with a normal range of motion. There are several types and designs are currently available. These designs usually depend upon the anatomy of the patients. There is a need for revision surgery due to dislocation and aseptic loosening in these joints over time in actively younger patients. Minor changes in the design stage can certainly improve the life expectancy of the implant and will also further reduce the revision rate.

    In this current work, finite element analysis is carried out by varying the neck length with a change in femoral head size for a circular-shaped stem. The effects of using a shorter neck are analyzed. A total of nine combinations are considered for analysis. Modeling is carried out in CATIA V-6 and analysis is performed in ANSYS R-19.der the optimal taper length with an increase in the femoral head size.
    Performance evaluation of hip implant under static loading conditions gives a clear idea about the behavior of implant. It was found that a decrease in the von Mises stresses with a decrease in the taper length. However, these variations won't affect **** in the performance of the hip implant. Also, a reduction in taper length can significantly increase the dislocation in the implant. So it is advised to consider the optimal taper length with an increase in the femoral head size.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Studies show that attentional bias towards threat is a key maintenance factor for panic disorder (PD). Attentional bias may be an important mechanism of symptom reduction, and thus, a useful target for optimizing outcomes. The current study examined whether an attention bias modification (ABM) task enhanced CBT outcomes. Multiple methods for assessing PD were used, including physiological measurement and clinician-rated assessment. METHODS Adults with panic disorder (N = 24) received seven sessions of CBT with either ABM or sham attention tasks. Psychophysiological reaction to a loud tones startle paradigm was assessed before and after treatment. RESULTS Across both groups, panic symptom severity decreased with CBT. The ABM group showed greater reductions in PD symptoms compared to the placebo group. Notably, however, changes in attentional bias were not associated with symptom reductions across groups. No significant group differences on psychophysiological assessment were observed. LIMITATIONS This study is limited by the small sample size, which rendered our power to investigate mediators and moderators insufficient. More research is needed to validate the effect of attention bias modification on attentional bias to threat. CONCLUSIONS This pilot study suggests that future research should investigate attentional bias in conjunction with CBT. A larger sample would provide opportunity to further investigate the mechanisms through which ABM works, along with potential moderating factors and the use of psychophysiological measurements in panic disorder. This study aimed to develop a pasteurization method against Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium in orange juice using low concentrations of naturally derived antimicrobials, β-resorcylic acid and capric acid, under mild temperature conditions based on their synergistic bactericidal interactions. Response surface methodology was used to construct a model based on four variables, namely β-resorcylic acid (1, 3, 5, 7, and 9 mM), capric acid (0.05, 0.10, 0.15, 0.20, and 0.25 mM), treatment temperature (35, 40, 45, 50, and 55 °C), and time (1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 min), and the resulting model was used to predict the reduction in the content of fastidious bacteria (S. Typhimurium) in orange juice and to identify the optimal treatment combination for juice pasteurization. A second-order quadratic model for Salmonella reduction showed a high regression coefficient (R2 = 0.9503), and the accuracy of the predictive model was also verified (R2 = 0.9317). The optimal conditions determined by ridge analysis were 8.43 mM β-resorcylic acid combined with 0.10 mM capric acid at 43.46 °C for 3.03 min, and these yielded an estimated 7.41-log reduction. Treatment times 5.7-log reduction. The combined treatment did not affect either the pH or sugar concentration in brix, and average pH and sugar concentration values of 3.86 and 11.05% were observed, respectively. The distinct advantage of the developed method is its ability to effectively reduce the content of S. This study investigated the effect of SAFL addition on effluent DON features and microbial community dynamics in a BNR process treating municipal wastewater. The performance of SAFL was compared with other two reactors (i.e., without an external carbon source and with the addition of sodium acetate). The results showed that the addition of SAFL can significantly reduce effluent DON (p  0.05). The SAFL addition led to a decreased percentage of low molecular weight DON (p  less then  0.05) as well as an increased ratio of fulvic-like and humic-like substances to proteins-like substances. Moreover, the SAFL addition resulted in a lower percentage of substances resembling proteins/amino sugars and a higher percentage of lignin-like molecules than sodium acetate. These features accounted for the low DON bioavailability. The SAFL promoted the increased abundance of Bacteroidetes, Chloroflexi, Comamonadaceae and Rhodocyclaceae, which could be associated with the decreased effluent DON and its bioavailability. This study indicates that using SAFL as a BNR carbon source not only improves the removal of DIN but also reduces effluent DON and specifically DON bioavailability. The toxicological investigation showed that 8-day sunlight irradiation significantly increased growth inhibition of GO (25 mg/L) to algal cells by 11.2%, due to enhanced oxidative stress and stronger membrane damage. Low molecular weight (LMW) species were produced during the 8-day GO transformation, and they were identified as two types of aromatic compounds, which played a crucial role in increasing toxicity. The combined toxicity of GO and Cu2+ ions before and after light irradiation was further investigated. Antagonistic effect was observed between the toxicity of pristine GO and co-existing Cu2+ ions.   • Plenty of power-shaped semiconductor nanomaterials have been used to photocatalytically degrade various pollutant wastewater in beakers, but they are difficult to be applied in the practical wastewater that is flowing in river or pipeline. Thus, the key to photocatalytically degrading the flowing wastewater is to develop flexible large-scale filter-membrane with high photocatalytic activity. To address the issue, with carbon fiber cloth (CFC) as the porous substrate and TiO2/Ag3PO4 as ultraviolet/visible (UV/Vis) responsed components, we reported the in-situ growth of TiO2/Ag3PO4 nanojunctions on CFC as filter-membrane-shaped photocatalyst. The resulting CFC/TiO2/Ag3PO4 is composed of CFC whose surface is decorated with TiO2 nanorods (length 1 ± 0.5 μm, diameter 150 ± 50 nm) and Ag3PO4 nanoparticles (diameter 20-100 nm). CFC/TiO2/Ag3PO4 displays a broad absorption region with two edges (~410 and ~510 nm), owing to the bandgaps of TiO2 and Ag3PO4. Under Vis or UV-Vis light illumination, CFC/TiO2/Ag3PO4 (4 × 4 cm2) can efficiently degrade more phenol (80.6%/89.4%), tetracycline (TC, 91.7%/94.2%), rhodamine B (RhB, 98.4%/99.5%) and acid orange 7 (AO7, 97.6%/98.3%) in the beaker than CFC/TiO2 or CFC/Ag3PO4. Especially, CFC/TiO2/Ag3PO4 (diameter ~10 cm) as the filter-membrane was used to construct multiple device for degrading the flowing RhB wastewater. The removal efficiency of RhB increases from 19.6% at the 1st pool to 96.8% at the 8th pool. Therefore, this study brings some insights for purifying organic pollutants in static or flowing wastewater by using filter-membrane-shaped photocatalysts. Modulating the size and dispersion of metal particles is highly desirable in nanocatalysis. Herein highly dispersed ruthenium clusters confined in nitrogen-doped carbon (RuNC) were synthesized by a one-pot pyrolysis of Ru(phen)3 organometallic compounds and glucose. The size of the Ru clusters was finely controlled at a cluster level (1.7 nm) to expose more catalytic active sites. The interaction between the Ru clusters and N species not only facilitated the uniform dispersion, but also prevented the aggregation of Ru clusters. This cluster-level RuNC manifested extraordinary catalytic performance towards the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and was comparable to or even better than a commercial Pt/C catalyst in basic and acidic media, respectively. Moreover, based on density functional theory (DFT) calculations, it was demonstrated that the N dopants in the carbon framework efficiently tailored the charge density distribution of the Ru centres and promoted the adsorption of H* on the catalyst, thus contributing to the high catalytic activity. Frontal and sagittal plane pelvis and trunk excursion during the stance period of walking were compared between groups; and in the MS group, associations were determined between kinematic variables, muscle function, spatiotemporal parameters, and gait performance. RESULTS Compared to the CTL group, the MS group had significantly greater sagittal plane trunk and pelvis excursion for both the stronger (p = 0.031) and weaker (p = 0.042) sides; less frontal plane trunk and pelvis excursion for both the stronger (p = 0.008) and weaker (p = 0.024) sides; and more sagittal plane trunk excursion for the stronger side (p = 0.047) during stance phase. There were low-to-moderate correlations in the MS group for sagittal plane pelvis excursion with muscle function (p = 0.019 to 0.030), spatiotemporal parameters (p less then 0.001 to 0.005), and gait performance (p = less then 0.001 to 0.001). Using linear regression, frontal and sagittal plane pelvis excursion were significant predictors of both T25FW and 2MWT, explaining 34 % and 46 % of the variance of each gait performance measure, respectively. Phylogenetic analysis and sequence alignment indicated that this SVA CH-GX-01-2018 strain was closely related to the strains isolated in 2017 in Guangdong province, a neighboring province of Guangxi, South China, with 98.6% identity at the genome nucleotide level. Our findings characterized a novel SVV infection in pigs from South China and emphasize the importance of surveillance, reinforcing biosecurity measures and developing vaccines to prevent the spread of this viral pathogen.
    Plenty of power-shaped semiconductor nanomaterials have been used to photocatalytically degrade various pollutant wastewater in beakers, but they are difficult to be applied in the practical wastewater that is flowing in river or pipeline. Thus, the key to photocatalytically degrading the flowing wastewater is to develop flexible large-scale filter-membrane with high photocatalytic activity. To address the issue, with carbon fiber cloth (CFC) as the porous substrate and TiO2/Ag3PO4 as ultraviolet/visible (UV/Vis) responsed components, we reported the in-situ growth of TiO2/Ag3PO4 nanojunctions on CFC as filter-membrane-shaped photocatalyst. The resulting CFC/TiO2/Ag3PO4 is composed of CFC whose surface is decorated with TiO2 nanorods (length 1 ± 0.5 μm, diameter 150 ± 50 nm) and Ag3PO4 nanoparticles (diameter 20-100 nm). CFC/TiO2/Ag3PO4 displays a broad absorption region with two edges (~410 and ~510 nm), owing to the bandgaps of TiO2 and Ag3PO4. Under Vis or UV-Vis light illumination, CFC/TiO2/Ag3PO4 (4 × 4 cm2) can efficiently degrade more phenol (80.6%/89.4%), tetracycline (TC, 91.7%/94.2%), rhodamine B (RhB, 98.4%/99.5%) and acid orange 7 (AO7, 97.6%/98.3%) in the beaker than CFC/TiO2 or CFC/Ag3PO4. Especially, CFC/TiO2/Ag3PO4 (diameter ~10 cm) as the filter-membrane was used to construct multiple device for degrading the flowing RhB wastewater. Modulating the size and dispersion of metal particles is highly desirable in nanocatalysis. Herein highly dispersed ruthenium clusters confined in nitrogen-doped carbon (RuNC) were synthesized by a one-pot pyrolysis of Ru(phen)3 organometallic compounds and glucose. The size of the Ru clusters was finely controlled at a cluster level (1.7 nm) to expose more catalytic active sites. The interaction between the Ru clusters and N species not only facilitated the uniform dispersion, but also prevented the aggregation of Ru clusters. This cluster-level RuNC manifested extraordinary catalytic performance towards the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and was comparable to or even better than a commercial Pt/C catalyst in basic and acidic media, respectively. Moreover, based on density functional theory (DFT) calculations, it was demonstrated that the N dopants in the carbon framework efficiently tailored the charge density distribution of the Ru centres and promoted the adsorption of H* on the catalyst, thus contributing to the high catalytic activity. The morphology, crystal phase, and structure of synthesized nanocomposite were confirmed by routine methods, such as transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier translation infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), and inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES). Under the optimized conditions, differential pulse voltammetric (DPV) peak current was proportional to the CBZ concentration in the range of 0.05 to 25 μM with the detection limit (S/N = 3) of 32 nM. The storage stability of the modified electrode was also investigated which shows that the current responses remain about 95.2% of their initial values, indicating the appreciable storage stability of this sensor.The proposed electrode displayed excellent repeatability and it was satisfactorily used for determination of CBZ in real samples (urine, and serum samples) with high recovery.The process of matrix clean-up and extraction of analytes has a significant influence on the detection and determination of the analyte, especially in trace amounts. This review is aimed to investigate the application and efficacy of MIPs in detecting and determination of mycotoxins in cereals.Cancers of the digestive system are malignant diseases. Our study focused on colon cancer, esophageal cancer (ESCC), rectal cancer, gastric cancer (GC), and rectosigmoid junction cancer to identify possible biomarkers for these diseases. The transcriptome data were downloaded from the TCGA database (The Cancer Genome Atlas Program), and a network was constructed using the WGCNA algorithm. Two significant modules were found, and coexpression networks were constructed. CytoHubba was used to identify hub genes of the two networks. GO analysis suggested that the network genes were involved in metabolic processes, biological regulation, and membrane and protein binding. KEGG analysis indicated that the significant pathways were the calcium signaling pathway, fatty acid biosynthesis, and pathways in cancer and insulin resistance. Some of the most significant hub genes were hsa-let-7b-3p, hsa-miR-378a-5p, hsa-miR-26a-5p, hsa-miR-382-5p, and hsa-miR-29b-2-5p and SECISBP2 L, NCOA1, HERC1, HIPK3, and MBNL1, respectively. These genes were predicted to be associated with the tumor prognostic reference for this patient population.The circadian clock governs our daily cycle of behavior and physiology. To isolate these effects, we measured the impacts of controlled mutagenesis on reproductive fitness traits in closely related Arabidopsis diploids (A. thaliana), autotetraploids (A. thaliana), and allotetraploids (A. suecica), including both synthetic and natural polyploid lines. Overall, mutagenesis had the largest negative impacts on seed production, while its impacts on germination and survival were negligible. As expected, these effects were **** stronger in diploids than in polyploids. The differences between autopolyploids, allopolyploids, and polyploids of different ages were minor-cumulative reproductive fitness did not significantly differ between the treatment and control groups for any polyploid line type. Cross-sector use of genomic health and ancestry data, and by law enforcement in particular, raises ethical questions and requires appropriate regulation. This article discusses the significance of genomic data and focuses on investigative genetic genealogy, namely the use of genomic health and ancestry data to advance law enforcement, as an example of cross-sector use. Recently, some plants transformed with luminescent systems can glimmer in darkness, which can be observed by our naked eyes and provides a novel lighting resource. In this review, we summarized the bioassay development of luminescence in plant cells, followed by exampling the successful cases of glowing plants transformed with diverse luminescent systems. The potential key factors to design or optimize a glowing plant were also discussed. Our review is useful for the creation of the optimized glowing plants, which can be used not only in scientific research, but also as promising substitutes of artificial light sources in the future.The effects of genetic mutations are influenced by genome structure. Polyploids have more gene or allele copies than diploids, which results in higher tolerance of recessive deleterious mutations. However, this benefit may differ between autopolyploids and allopolyploids and between neopolyploids and older polyploid lineages due to the effects of hybridization and diploidization, respectively. To isolate these effects, we measured the impacts of controlled mutagenesis on reproductive fitness traits in closely related Arabidopsis diploids (A. thaliana), autotetraploids (A. thaliana), and allotetraploids (A. suecica), including both synthetic and natural polyploid lines. Overall, mutagenesis had the largest negative impacts on seed production, while its impacts on germination and survival were negligible. As expected, these effects were much stronger in diploids than in polyploids. Residual malaria transmission (RMT) is the fraction of total transmission that persists after achievement of full operational coverage with effective insecticide-treated bed nets (ITNs)/long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs) and/or indoor residual spray interventions. There is a critical need to standardize and share best practices for entomological, anthropological, and product development investigative protocols to meet the challenges of RMT and elimination goals.

    A systematic review was conducted to describe when and where RMT is occurring, while specifically targeting ownership and usage of ITN/LLINs, indoor residual spray application, insecticide susceptibility of vectors, and human and vector biting behavior, with a focus on nighttime activities.

The use of insecticides may change the composition of local Anopheles populations, such as A. arabiensis taking up the place of A. gambiae in Senegal, A. aquasalis replacing A. darlingi in Guyana, or A. harrisoni superseding A. minimus in Vietnam. The change in behavior, such as biting activity earlier than usually reported-for example, Anopheles funestus after a large-scale distribution of long-lasting insecticidal nets-or insecticide resistance, in particular the current spread of pyrethroid resistance, could hamper the efficacy of classic pyrethroid-treated long-lasting insecticidal nets and maintained transmission. These issues must be well documented in every situation to elaborate, implement, monitor, and evaluate tailored vector control programs, keeping in mind that they must be conceived as integrated programs with several well and appropriately coordinated approaches, combining entomological but also parasitological, clinical, and social methods and analyses. A successful integrated vector control program must then be designed to reduce transmission and incidence rates of malaria morbidity and overall mortality.The transmission of Plasmodium parasites in residual foci is currently a major roadblock for malaria elimination. Human activities and behavior, along with outdoor biting mosquitoes with opportunistic feeding preferences are the main causes of the inefficacy of the main vector control interventions, long lasting insecticide-impregnated nets and insecticide residual spraying. Several strategies to abate or repel outdoor biting mosquito vectors are currently being researched, but the impact of insecticide resistance on the efficacy of these and current indoor-applied insecticides requires further assessment. Understanding the human, ecological and vector factors, determining transmission in residual foci is necessary for the design and implementation of novel control strategies. Vector control alone is insufficient without adequate epidemiological surveillance and prompt treatment of malaria cases, the participation of endemic communities in prevention and control is required. In addition, malaria control programs should optimize their structure and organization, and their coordination with other government sectors.

  • Microbial bioremediation of heavy metals-polluted industrial effluents has been adopted as one of the most effective eco-friendly tool to cope up with the harmful effects of metals. This study was designed to investigate the biosorption potential of marine actinomycetes isolated from the Alexandrian Mediterranean Seacoast, Egypt, with their potential use in metal remediation of industrial effluents. Among the nine marine actinomycetes isolates, Streptomyces rochei ANH showed the highest versatile metal resistance capability with ****values of 125 mg/l for Cr6+ and 60 mg/l for both Cd2+ and Pb2+. Additionally, scanning electron micrographs showed complete disintegration of Cr6+-treated biomass compared with the control ones where spores remained intact and connected in long chains. The study also aimed to improve the percentage of Cr6+ biosorption by S. rochei ANH biomass using the statistical designs of Plackett-Burman and Box-Behnken where up to 85% of Cr6+ removal was recorded under the following conditions pH (5), incubation temperature (30 °C), contact time (3 h), agitation speed (90 rpm), initial Cr6+ concentration (50 mg/l) and living biomass concentration (10 mg/ml). The results also showed that the percentage of Cr6+ biosorption by S. rochei ANH decreased gradually beyond these values. Moreover, the results revealed that the use of the biomass of S. rochei ANH is an effective biotechnological agent for the biological treatment of heavy metal-contaminated tannery effluent where the percentages of metal removal were in the following order Ni2+ (100%) ≥ Cu2+  ≥ Mn2+  ≥ Fe2+  > Pb2+ (95%) ≥ Cd2+  > Cr6+ (86%). Furthermore, the treated effluent exhibited a stimulating effect on the germination process of Lepidium sativum seeds. Therefore, the present study implies that S. rochei ANH can be considered a powerful candidate to mitigate hazardous heavy metals pollution from industrial effluents and improve the water quality for agricultural purposes.Forming eye contact is important in dog-human communication. In this study we measured what factors affect dogs' propensity for forming eye contact with an experimenter. We investigated the effect of [1] cephalic index (head shape's metric, indicator of higher visual acuity at the centre of the visual field), [2] breed function (visual cooperativeness), [3] age and [4] playfulness with strangers in 125 companion dogs. Cephalic index was measured individually and analysed as a continuous variable. Results showed that [1] dogs with a higher cephalic index (shorter head) established eye contact faster. Since cephalic index is highly variable even within a breed, using artificial head shape groups or breed average cephalic index values is not recommended. [2] Breed function also affected dogs' performance cooperative breeds and mongrels established eye contact faster than dogs from non-cooperative breeds. [3] Younger dogs formed eye contact faster than older ones. [4] More playful dogs formed eye contact faster. Our results suggest that several factors affect dogs' interspecific attention, and therefore their visual communication ability.To evaluate whether the risk of bone fragility on computed tomography (CT) (scanographic bone attenuation coefficient of the first lumbar vertebra (SBAC-L1)) is associated with the severity of spine structural involvement (mSASSS) in patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS). This retrospective study included AS patients, followed from 2009 to 2017, who fulfilled the New York criteria and who underwent thoraco-abdomino-pelvic CT and radiography (spine, pelvis). The structural involvement was retained for mSASSS ≥ 2. The SBAC-L1 was measured in Hounsfield units (HU). A SBAC-L1 ≤ 145 HU was used to define patients at risk of vertebral fracture (VF). A total of 73 AS patients were included (mean age 60.3 (± 10.7) years, 8 women (11%), mean disease duration 24.6 years (± 13.9)). Sixty patients (82.2%) had a mSASSS ≥ 2 (mean score 20.7 (± 21.2)). The mean SBAC-L1 was 141.1 HU (± 45), 138.1 HU (± 44.8) and 154.8 HU (± 44.9) in the total, mSASSS ≥ 2 and mSASSS  less then  2 populations, respectively. Patients with bone bridges had lower SBAC-L1 than mSASSS ≥ 2 patients without ankylosis (p = 0.02) and more often SBAC-L1 ≤ 145 HU (73% vs 41.9%, p = 0.006). A SBAC-L1 ≤ 145 HU was not associated with structural spine involvement, but patients with bone bridges had significantly decreased SBAC-L1 and an increased probability of being under the fracture threshold.Rib fractures represent a common injury type due to blunt chest trauma, affecting hospital stay and mortality especially in elderly patients. A total of 18 adult Macaca mulatta (12-22 years) had ligatures placed (premolar, 1st molar teeth) in all 4 quadrants. Gingival tissue samples were obtained (baseline, 2 weeks, 1 and 3 months during periodontitis and at 5 months resolution). Gene expression was analyzed by microarray [Rhesus Gene 1.0 ST Array (Affymetrix)]. Compared to baseline, a large array of genes were significantly altered at initiation (n = 6049), early progression (n = 4893), and late progression (n = 5078) of disease, with the preponderance being up-regulated. Additionally, 1918 genes were altered in expression with disease resolution, skewed towards down-regulation. Assessment of the genes demonstrated specific profiles of epithelial, bone/connective tissue, apoptosis/autophagy, metabolism, regulatory, immune, and inflammatory responses that were related to health, stages of disease, and tissues with resolved lesions.

Our results suggest that several factors affect dogs' interspecific attention, and therefore their visual communication ability.To evaluate whether the risk of bone fragility on computed tomography (CT) (scanographic bone attenuation coefficient of the first lumbar vertebra (SBAC-L1)) is associated with the severity of spine structural involvement (mSASSS) in patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS). This retrospective study included AS patients, followed from 2009 to 2017, who fulfilled the New York criteria and who underwent thoraco-abdomino-pelvic CT and radiography (spine, pelvis). The structural involvement was retained for mSASSS ≥ 2. The SBAC-L1 was measured in Hounsfield units (HU). A SBAC-L1 ≤ 145 HU was used to define patients at risk of vertebral fracture (VF). A total of 73 AS patients were included (mean age 60.3 (± 10.7) years, 8 women (11%), mean disease duration 24.6 years (± 13.9)). Sixty patients (82.2%) had a mSASSS ≥ 2 (mean score 20.7 (± 21.2)). The mean SBAC-L1 was 141.1 HU (± 45), 138.1 HU (± 44.8) and 154.8 HU (± 44.9) in the total, mSASSS ≥ 2 and mSASSS  less then  2 populations, respectively. Patients with bone bridges had lower SBAC-L1 than mSASSS ≥ 2 patients without ankylosis (p = 0.02) and more often SBAC-L1 ≤ 145 HU (73% vs 41.9%, p = 0.006).   • A circular economy system aims to eliminate waste and pollution, keep products and materials in use, and regenerate natural systems. Although these principles are not yet met, some approaches are being made in this direction; the transformation of crude glycerol by actinobacteria is a process with great potential to be scaled on an industrial level. This review discusses the reports on glycerol as a promising source of carbon and energy for obtaining biomass and high-added value products by actinobacteria. Also, the factors influencing the biomass and secondary metabolites production in bioreactors are analyzed, and the tools available to overcome those that generate the main problems are discussed.Recently, there has been an urgent need to develop new materials and technologies for extracting lithium ions. Herein, the membrane-type adsorbent of manganese dioxide (MnO2) is prepared by a vacuum filtration method using graphene oxide (GO) as a binder and amino-β-cyclodextrin (amino-β-CD) as an adjuvant. The results of thermogravimetric analysis show that MnO2 is successfully immobilized on GO layers with a content of about 24 wt%, which enabled rapid adsorb lithium ions from the ionic solution. In addition, the permeation experiment shows the membrane has specific selectivity for lithium ion transport and adsorption, which is manifested in the selectivity ratios of K+/Li+, Na+/Li+ and K+/Na+ to 2.5, 3.2 and 0.8, respectively. Adsorption experiments show that GO-β-CD/MnO2 membrane has a high adsorption capacity for lithium ions (37.5 mg g-1). The adsorption kinetic curve indicates that the lithium adsorption process is controlled by the chemical adsorption mechanism. In a typical reaction, almost complete RhB (10 mg/L) removal can be achieved by the activation of PMS (0.2 g/L) using 5%Mg/Fe2O3 (0.5 g/L). Moreover, the as-synthesized catalyst exhibits a broad pH working range (3.96-10.69), high stability, and recyclability. The effects of several parameters (e.g., catalyst amount, PMS dosage, solution pH and temperature, and coexisting inorganic anions) on the removal of RhB in the 5%Mg/Fe2O3/PMS system are investigated. In the adsorption step, fluorine (F), arsenic (As), and thorium (Th) were precipitated and removed when heavy metals were removed using coal mine drainage sludge (CMDS) and an adsorbent (PUCMDS) made of polyurethane (PU). Running a semi and pilot scale continuous process using PECa/S, PUCMDS and O3/HC systems resulted in a semi and pilot scale operating period of 120 and 62 days, and 60.26, 797.84, 46.94, 78.62 g, and 7.120 kg and 266.35, 42556.8, 191.95, 3108.43 g and 629.84 kg for As, F, Th, Pb and CODcr has been removed respectively. In addition, the removal efficiencies of As, F, Th, Pb and CODcr were 99.75, 99.98, 93.60, 99.99, and 88.82%, respectively, when treating real RE wastewater using the pilot scale system. This study provides evidence of the early M.tb-specific treatment response in TB patients but shows that the observed unstimulated marker models are not outperformed by stimulated marker models.   • This qualitative study aimed to understand occupational therapists' experiences of providing home programs to stroke survivors in India. Using an interpretative phenomenological approach, eight practicing occupational therapists were interviewed in depth about home programs for individuals recovering from stroke. Two broad themes with subthemes emerged describing the organizational factors, sociocultural and economic influences on home program provision as well as describing how the occupational therapists addressed the challenges to facilitate home program provision and adherence. The findings can inform occupational therapy practice in lower- and middle-income countries like India and other countries where existing practice recommendations for stroke rehabilitation and core professional tenets may be challenged.The osteopathic (DO) medical profession has seen a substantial increase in popularity, evident by the drastic increase in the DO physician workforce and increasing number of DO graduates in the United States. Osteopathic medical schools have historically been primary care focused, resulting in a majority of their graduates pursuing practice in those specialties. This focus may be inadvertently creating a disadvantageous environment for DO students who aim to pursue specialized or traditionally competitive fields in medicine. Otolaryngology is a prime example of osteopathic underrepresentation, as there is currently a significantly low percentage of DO residents in otolaryngology residency programs and practicing DO otolaryngologists. Given the recent American Council on Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and American Osteopathic Association (AOA) merger between osteopathic and allopathic (MD) residency programs, it is of great value to further discuss avenues for progress and mitigation of barriers.
