  • Grey mould is caused by the ascomycetes Botrytis cinerea in a range of crop hosts. As a biological control agent, the nucleoside antibiotic wuyiencin has been industrially produced and widely used as an effective fungicide. To elucidate the effects of wuyiencin on the transcriptional regulation in B. cinerea, we, for the first time, report a genome-wide transcriptomic analysis of B. cinerea treated with wuyiencin. 2067 genes were differentially expressed, of them, 886 and 1181 genes were significantly upregulated and downregulated, respectively. Functional categorization indicated that transcript levels of genes involved in amino acid metabolism and those encoding putative secreted proteins were altered in response to wuyiencin treatment. Furthermore, wuyiencin resulted in mycelial malformation and negatively influenced cell growth rate and conidial yield in B. cinerea. Our results suggest that this nucleoside antibiotic regulates all aspects of cell growth and differentiation in B. cinerea. Average luminescent intensity was calculated and reported per mouse abdomen. Tumor detection was confirmed by gross evaluation and histopathology. The relationship between type of anaesthesia, surgical technique; open (n = 241) versus laparoscopic (n = 168) and clinicopathological characteristics was examined by using chi-square testing. The chi-square test was used to determine which anaesthetic group influences the POD 2 CRP for only patients undergoing elective open colon surgery. RESULTS The majority of patients were less then 75 years old, male, normal weight or obese, underwent open surgery and had regional anaesthesia, in particular an epidural approach. There was a significant association between type of anaesthesia and post-operative CRP on day 2 (p less then 0.001) in patients undergoing open surgery but not laparoscopic surgery. Other factors associated with type of anaesthesia included; year of operation (p less then 0.01), surgical technique (p less then 0.001), and preoperative dexamethasone (p less then 0.01). CONCLUSION In patients undergoing surgery for elective colon cancer, the type of anaesthesia varied over time. Our objective was to characterize the composition of gut microbiota in adult Saudis and investigate possible association with lifestyle and dietary practices. Feces from 104 Saudi volunteers (48% males) were tested for microbiota by sequencing the V3-V4 region of bacterial 16S ribosomal RNA (rRNA). For all participants, data were collected related to their lifestyle habits and dietary practices. The relative abundance (RA) of Fusobacteria was significantly higher in normal weight Saudis (P = 0.005, false discovery rate-FDR = 0.014). Individuals who consumed more coffee presented marginally significant more RA of Fusobacteria (P = 0.02, FDR = 0.20) in their gut microbiota compared to those reporting low or no coffee intake, but the RA of Fusobacteria was significantly higher in smokers compared to non-smokers (P = 0.009, FDR = 0.027). This study examines the influence of work-group social capital on individuals' work engagement, job satisfaction, and job crafting. In addition, the mediating effect of job crafting between social capital on the one side and job satisfaction and work engagement on the other side was analyzed. (2) Methods This study used data from 250 health-care employees in Sweden who had completed a questionnaire at two time points (six to eight months apart). The constructs pertaining to cognition (perceived relative susceptibility to COVID-19, perceived COVID-19 severity, having sufficient knowledge and information on COVID-19, and confidence in coping with COVID-19), affect (worry toward COVID-19), and behavior (adoption of health-protective behaviors) in relation to health beliefs about COVID-19 were compared between sexual minority and heterosexual participants. The results indicated that sexual minority participants had lower perceived susceptibility to COVID-19, greater self-confidence in coping with COVID-19, and lower worry about COVID-19 and were less likely to maintain good indoor ventilation and disinfect their household than heterosexual individuals. Sexual orientation is the modifying factor for the Health Belief Model in the COVID-19 pandemic and should be taken into consideration when medical professionals establish prevention programs for COVID-19.The interaction of nuclear receptors (NRs) with chemical compounds can cause dysregulation of endocrine signaling pathways, leading to adverse health outcomes due to the disruption of natural hormones. The recently developed novel molecular image-based deep learning (DL) method, DeepSnap-DL, can produce multiple snapshots from three-dimensional (3D) chemical structures and has achieved high performance in the prediction of chemicals for toxicological evaluation. In this study, we used DeepSnap-DL to construct prediction models of 35 agonist and antagonist allosteric modulators of NRs for chemicals derived from the Tox21 10K library. We demonstrate the high performance of DeepSnap-DL in constructing prediction models. These findings may aid in interpreting the key molecular events of toxicity and support the development of new fields of machine learning to identify environmental chemicals with the potential to interact with NR signaling pathways.The specific targeting of dendritic cells (DCs) using antigen-delivering antibodies has been established to be a highly efficient protocol for the induction of tolerance and protection from autoimmune processes in experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE), a model of multiple sclerosis (MS), as well as in some other animal disease models. As the specific mechanisms of such induced tolerance are being investigated, the newly gained insights may also possibly help to design effective treatments for patients. Here we review approaches applied for the amelioration of autoimmunity in animal models based on antibody-mediated targeting of self-antigens to DCs. Further, we discuss relevant mechanisms of immunological tolerance that underlie such approaches, and we also offer some future perspectives for the application of similar methods in certain related disease settings such as transplantation.MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are non-coding regulatory RNAs that play a vital part in the host immune response to pathogen infection. Japanese flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) is an important aquaculture fish species that has suffered from bacterial diseases, including that caused by Vibrio anguillarum infection. In a previous study, we examined the messenger RNA (mRNA) expression profiles of flounder during V. anguillarum infection and identified 26 hub genes in the flounder immune response. In this study, we performed the micro-transcriptome analysis of flounder spleen in response to V. anguillarum infection at 3 different time points. Approximately 277 million reads were obtained, from which 1218 miRNAs were identified, including 740 known miRNAs and 478 novel miRNAs. Among the miRNAs, 206 were differentially expressed miRNAs (DEmiRs), and 104 of the 206 DEmiRs are novel miRNAs identified for the first time. Most of the DEmiRs were strongly time-dependent. A total of 1355 putative target genes of the DEmiRs (named DETGs) were identified based on integrated analysis of miRNA-mRNA expressions. The DETGs were enriched in multiple functional categories associated with immunity. Thirteen key DEmiRs and 66 immune DETGs formed an intricate regulatory network constituting 106 pairs of miRNAs and DETGs that span five immune pathways. Furthermore, seven of the previously identified hub genes were found to be targeted by 73 DEmiRs, and together they formed interlinking regulatory networks. These results indicate that V. anguillarum infection induces complicated miRNA response with extensive influences on immune gene expression in Japanese flounder.

The aim of this study was to identify the dissociative symptoms with neurobiological similarities in episodic and chronic migraine patients and to evaluate their correlation with migraine frequency and severity of attacks.Methods The study included 61 episodic, 45 chronic migraine patients diagnosed using the criteria of the International Headache Society and 54 healthy control subjects. Dissociative Experiences Scale, **** Anxiety Scale and **** Depression Inventory were filled with the interviews. Demographic, clinical and headache characteristics of the patients were recorded according to migraine types. Results were analyzed by Kruskal-Wallis method and Spearman's correlation tests.Results Dissociative symptoms were more common in the patients with chronic migraine, and there was a statistically significant difference between the chronic migraine group and the episodic migraine and control groups (p = 0.001, p less then  0.001). Dissociative experiences were correlated with depression and anxiety findings, and in both groups, there was a significant correlation between clinical characteristics of migraine and osmophobia in the controlled partial correlation analysis (p  less then  0.05).Conclusion This study revealed that dissociative symptoms are more common especially in patients with chronic migraine and there is a significant association with osmophobia in both migraine groups. According to these data, we think that dissociative symptoms in chronic migraine patients will be questioned and osmophobia may be a guide in this regard.Background and Purpose- Cervicocephalic artery dissection is an important cause of stroke. The clinical presentation of dissection can resemble that of benign neurological conditions leading to delayed or missed diagnosis. Methods- We performed a retrospective cohort study using statewide administrative claims data from all Emergency Department visits and admissions at nonfederal hospitals in Florida from 2005 to 2015 and New York from 2006 to 2015. Using validated International Classification of Diseases, Ninth Revision, CM codes, we identified adult patients hospitalized for cervicocephalic artery dissection. We defined probable misdiagnosis of dissection as having an Emergency Department treat-and-release visit for symptoms or signs of dissection, including headache, neck pain, and focal neurological deficits in the 14 days before dissection diagnosis. Multivariable logistic regression was used to compare adverse clinical outcomes in patients with and without probable misdiagnosis. Results- Among 7090 patients diagnosed with a dissection (mean age 52.7 years, 44.9% women), 218 (3.1% [95% CI, 2.7%-3.5%]) had a preceding probable Emergency Department misdiagnosis. After adjustment for demographics and vascular risk factors, there were no differences in rates of stroke (odds ratio, 0.82 [95% CI, 0.62-1.09]) or in-hospital death (odds ratio, 0.26 [95% CI, 0.07-1.08]) between dissection patients with and without a probable misdiagnosis at index hospitalization. The aim of this study was to identify the dissociative symptoms with neurobiological similarities in episodic and chronic migraine patients and to evaluate their correlation with migraine frequency and severity of attacks.Methods The study included 61 episodic, 45 chronic migraine patients diagnosed using the criteria of the International Headache Society and 54 healthy control subjects. Dissociative Experiences Scale, Beck Anxiety Scale and Beck Depression Inventory were filled with the interviews. Demographic, clinical and headache characteristics of the patients were recorded according to migraine types. Results were analyzed by Kruskal-Wallis method and Spearman's correlation tests.Results Dissociative symptoms were more common in the patients with chronic migraine, and there was a statistically significant difference between the chronic migraine group and the episodic migraine and control groups (p = 0.001, p less then  0.001). Dissociative experiences were correlated with depression and anxiety findings, and in both groups, there was a significant correlation between clinical characteristics of migraine and osmophobia in the controlled partial correlation analysis (p  less then  0.05).Conclusion This study revealed that dissociative symptoms are more common especially in patients with chronic migraine and there is a significant association with osmophobia in both migraine groups. We defined probable misdiagnosis of dissection as having an Emergency Department treat-and-release visit for symptoms or signs of dissection, including headache, neck pain, and focal neurological deficits in the 14 days before dissection diagnosis. Multivariable logistic regression was used to compare adverse clinical outcomes in patients with and without probable misdiagnosis. INTRODUCTION Hot workplace environments can lead to adverse health effects and contribute to a range of injuries. However, there is limited contextual understanding of heat-related injury occurrence. Gaining the perspectives of occupational health and safety professionals (HSPs) may elucidate the issue and inform targeted interventions. METHODS A cross-sectional national online survey was conducted in Australia to characterise HSP perceptions of heat-related injuries; current preventive measures; training, policies and guidelines; and perspectives on barriers for prevention. Results were analysed descriptively and a log-Poisson regression model was used to identify risk factors associated with HSP reported injury occurrence, assessed through prevalence ratio (PR). RESULTS Of the 307 HSP survey participants, 74% acknowledged the potential for increased risk of occupational injuries in hot weather. A variety of injury types and mechanisms were reported, including manual handling injuries, hand injuries, wounds eat effects, could enhance injury prevention and labour productivity in people working in hot environments. Cannabinoids are incipient contaminants with limited literature in the context of water treatment. With increasing positive public opinion toward legalization and their increasing use as a pharmaceutical, cannabinoids are expected to become a critical class of pollutant that requires attention in the water treatment industry. The destructive removal of cannabinoids via chlorination and other oxidation processes used in drinking water and wastewater treatment requires careful investigation, because the oxidation and disinfection byproducts (DBPs) may pose significant risks for public health and the environment. Understanding transformation of cannabinoids is the first step toward the development of management strategies for this emerging class of contaminant in natural and engineered aquatic systems. This perspective reviews the current understanding of cannabinoid occurrence in water and its potential transformation pathways during the passage through drinking water and wastewater treatment systems with chlorination process. The article also aims to identify research gaps on this topic, which demand attention from the environmental science and engineering community. Here we investigate if lead may be a contributing factor to the observed population decline in a Baltic colony of incubating eiders (Somateria mollissima). Body mass and blood samples were obtained from 50 incubating female eiders at the Baltic breeding colony on Christiansø during spring 2017 (n = 27) and 2018 (n = 23). All the females were sampled twice during early (day 4) and late (day 24) incubation. The full blood was analysed for lead to investigate if the concentrations exceeded toxic thresholds or changed over the incubation period due to remobilisation from bones and liver tissue. Body mass, hatch date and number of chicks were also analysed with respect to lead concentrations. The body mass (mean ± SD g) increased significantly in the order day 24 in 2018 (1561 ± 154 g)  less then  day 24 in 2017 (1618 ± 156 g)  less then  day 4 in 2018 (2183 ± 140 g)  less then  day 4 in 2017 (2359 ± 167 g) (all p  less then  0.001). The lead concentrations increased significantly in the opposite order i.e. day 4 e ecology of the Baltic eiders being suitable for biomonitoring the overall flyway. The evidence that exposure to ambient ozone (O3) causes acute cardiovascular effects appears inconsistent. A repeated-measure study with 61 healthy young volunteers was conducted in Xinxiang, Central China. Real-time concentrations of O3 were monitored. Cardiovascular outcomes including blood pressure (BP), heart rate (HR), serum levels of high sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG), tissue-type plasminogen activator (t-PA), and platelet-monocyte aggregation (PMA) were repeated measured. Linear mixed-effect models were used to analyze the association of ambient O3 with these cardiovascular outcomes. Additionally, the modifying effects of glutathione S-transferase mu 1 (GSTM1) and glutathione S-transferase theta 1 (GSTT1) polymorphisms were estimated to explore the potential mechanisms and role of the association between O3 exposure and the above cardiovascular outcomes. INTRODUCTION Hot workplace environments can lead to adverse health effects and contribute to a range of injuries. However, there is limited contextual understanding of heat-related injury occurrence. Gaining the perspectives of occupational health and safety professionals (HSPs) may elucidate the issue and inform targeted interventions. METHODS A cross-sectional national online survey was conducted in Australia to characterise HSP perceptions of heat-related injuries; current preventive measures; training, policies and guidelines; and perspectives on barriers for prevention. Results were analysed descriptively and a log-Poisson regression model was used to identify risk factors associated with HSP reported injury occurrence, assessed through prevalence ratio (PR). RESULTS Of the 307 HSP survey participants, 74% acknowledged the potential for increased risk of occupational injuries in hot weather. A variety of injury types and mechanisms were reported, including manual handling injuries, hand injuries, wounds eat effects, could enhance injury prevention and labour productivity in people working in hot environments. Cannabinoids are incipient contaminants with limited literature in the context of water treatment. With increasing positive public opinion toward legalization and their increasing use as a pharmaceutical, cannabinoids are expected to become a critical class of pollutant that requires attention in the water treatment industry. The destructive removal of cannabinoids via chlorination and other oxidation processes used in drinking water and wastewater treatment requires careful investigation, because the oxidation and disinfection byproducts (DBPs) may pose significant risks for public health and the environment. Understanding transformation of cannabinoids is the first step toward the development of management strategies for this emerging class of contaminant in natural and engineered aquatic systems. This perspective reviews the current understanding of cannabinoid occurrence in water and its potential transformation pathways during the passage through drinking water and wastewater treatment systems with chlorination process. The article also aims to identify research gaps on this topic, which demand attention from the environmental science and engineering community. Here we investigate if lead may be a contributing factor to the observed population decline in a Baltic colony of incubating eiders (Somateria mollissima). Body mass and blood samples were obtained from 50 incubating female eiders at the Baltic breeding colony on Christiansø during spring 2017 (n = 27) and 2018 (n = 23). All the females were sampled twice during early (day 4) and late (day 24) incubation. The full blood was analysed for lead to investigate if the concentrations exceeded toxic thresholds or changed over the incubation period due to remobilisation from bones and liver tissue. Body mass, hatch date and number of chicks were also analysed with respect to lead concentrations. The body mass (mean ± SD g) increased significantly in the order day 24 in 2018 (1561 ± 154 g)  less then  day 24 in 2017 (1618 ± 156 g)  less then  day 4 in 2018 (2183 ± 140 g)  less then  day 4 in 2017 (2359 ± 167 g) (all p  less then  0.001). A repeated-measure study with 61 healthy young volunteers was conducted in Xinxiang, Central China. Real-time concentrations of O3 were monitored. Cardiovascular outcomes including blood pressure (BP), heart rate (HR), serum levels of high sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG), tissue-type plasminogen activator (t-PA), and platelet-monocyte aggregation (PMA) were repeated measured.   • We have studied properties of novel thermotropic mesogenic materials that exhibit both an achiral double gyroid (Ia3[combining macron]d symmetry) and chiral cubic phase (previously assigned the Im3[combining macron]m symmetry). We argue that in the chiral cubic phase molecules form micelles and channels arranged into continuously interconnected hexagons. From the X-ray diffraction experiment supported by modelling, exact positions of hexagons and their connections were deduced and showed to be embedded on a WP (degenerated Neovius) minimal primitive surface. The elastic energy of such a structure is close to the one of the double gyroid phase, which is in agreement with a very low enthalpy change observed at the phase transition. We also argue that the chirality of the phase is related to the lack of mirror symmetry of non-flat hexagons accompanied by an alternating inclination of molecules in the neighbouring segments of hexagon; the chirality of individual hexagon is amplified on the whole hexagon network by steric effects.Magnetic phase control and room temperature magnetic stability in two-dimensional (2D) materials are indispensable for realising advanced spintronic and magneto-electronic functions. Different protein concentrations (10, 15 and 20% w/w) and mixing durations were tested in order to study their effects on particle formation. Addition of juices significantly increased the aggregation of whey proteins in suspensions at pH 4.5, resulting in a trimodal distribution of protein-polyphenol particles sizes at 5 μm, 30 μm, and above 100 μm. However, the addition of polyphenol-rich juices did not markedly alter aggregation or particle size distribution for rice proteins, as compared to rice protein particles formed with imitation juice. The particles formed with 10% w/w whey protein and blueberry juice yielded the highest total phenolic (27 mg g-1 particle) and protein content (805 mg g-1 particle); therefore, only 25 g of protein-polyphenol particles delivered simultaneously 20 g of protein, and the equivalent blueberry polyphenols (∼0.64 g total polyphenolics) in two servings (150 g) of blueberries. Particles formed with whey protein and blueberry juice significantly improved foam stability and drainage half-life. Protein-polyphenol particles can be designed as ingredients to stabilize food structures and to increase delivery of health protective polyphenols and proteins in the diet.Hydroxycinnamic acids (HAs) are widely spread in food and herbal medicines. The bioavailability of HAs largely depends on the absorption and metabolism in enterohepatic circulation, in which gut microbiota plays a vital role. The present research aims to investigate the metabolism of HAs by gut microbiota, together with the community changes of gut microbiota after cerebral ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury. The results showed that non-substituted cinnamic acid (NCA) and sinapic acid (SA) were stable to gut microbiota, while 4-hydrocinnamic acid (4-HA), caffeic acid (CA), and ferulic acid (FA) underwent decarboxylation and hydrogenation after anaerobic incubation. Time-course studies indicated that the gut microbiota from I/R injured rats can catalyze the same reaction, but with a decreased reaction rate. The 16S rRNA sequencing technique was applied to uncover the community changes of gut microbiota. In addition, the metabolites of the three HAs exhibited greater activity in scavenging the DPPH radical and protected PC12 cells against oxidative damage.Electrocatalysis for cathodic oxygen is of great significance for achieving high-performance lithium-oxygen batteries. Herein, we report a facile and green method to prepare an interconnected nanoporous three-dimensional (3D) architecture, which is composed of RuO2 nanogranulates coated with few layers of carbon. The as-prepared 3D nanoporous RuO2@C nanostructure can demonstrate a high initial specific discharge capacity of 4000 mA h g-1 with high round-trip efficiency of 95%. Meanwhile, the nanoporous RuO2@C could achieve stable cycling performance with a fixed capacity of 1500 mA h g-1 over 100 cycles. The terminal discharge and charge potentials of nanoporous RuO2@C are well maintained with minor potential variation of 0.14 and 0.13 V at the 100th cycle, respectively. In addition, the formation of discharge products is monitored by using in situ high-energy synchrotron X-ray diffraction (XRD).

  • A general inductive approach for qualitative data was used to analyse the research interviews. The research confirmed the subjectivity in risk perception and also revealed a high-risk perception, especially for earthquake, flood and tsunami. Whilst this study agreed that there is a relationship between risk perception and preparedness, such relationship is often contextual. The research concludes that risk perception could contribute to disaster resilience if communities appreciate the impact of a natural hazard irrespective of disaster experience or otherwise.Astyanax Baird et Girard, 1854, is one of the largest genera in the family Characidae and comprises 177 valid species. This genus has been the focus of cytogenetic studies primarily owing to the presence of B chromosomes and high karyotypic diversity among different populations. The intense genetic variability in Astyanax is one of the factors responsible for the occurrence of species complexes, which are groups (1) with certain difficulties in establishing common genetic pools or (2) belonging to different cryptic species. To evaluate cytogenetic marker inheritance and the possibility of the identification of these hybrids, this study aimed to describe cytogenetic hybrids from three strains of species of the genera Astyanax and Hyphessobrycon Eigenmann, 1908. The results indicated that the three hybrid lineages had cytogenetic markers of both parents, presenting Mendelian inheritance. Our results allowed the identification of the hybrid strains based on the cytogenetic markers applied, reinforcing the efficiency of cytogenetic markers as tools for identification and indicating that such events may increase the karyotypic diversity in the genera Astyanax and Hyphessobrycon.Functional communication training is a commonly used and effective treatment for socially reinforced destructive behavior. However, when a functional analysis suggests that destructive behavior is multiply controlled (e.g., by attention, tangibles, and escape), teaching and evaluating separate functional communication responses (FCRs) can be time-consuming or only partially effective when failing to address multiple establishing operations that may occur simultaneously. We evaluated the use of an omnibus FCR or mand that produced access to attention, tangibles, and escape within each functional-analysis test condition for two boys with autism spectrum disorder who displayed multiply controlled destructive behavior. The omnibus-FCR treatment produced low rates of destructive behavior and high percentages of independent FCRs within each condition for both children, suggesting that such a treatment option may reduce destructive behavior and teach communication skills quickly prior to introducing other treatment components, such as teaching individual FCRs to address each unique function of destructive behavior.The 10-week internship for the pilot cohort of resident doctors from various teaching hospitals in Nigeria was a very rewarding experience. The internship was a beautiful immersion into field epidemiology, rumor surveillance, risk communication, digital tools for surveillance, developing strategic documents, line lists interpretation, weekly presentations and outbreak response coordination alongside working briefly as an incident manager for the Yellow Fever technical working group. Some of the learning points included meeting coordination, contributions to ongoing research, review of training documents for surveillance officers and the mechanisms of escalating and de-escalating technical working groups in the face of outbreaks and working as an incident manager. There is the need to continue this internship to strengthen the capacity of our emerging health workforce in residency training to address our public health priorities in Nigeria.Introduction Medical education can be stressful and a source of psychiatric morbidity for medical students with the potential of causing serious professional and personal negative consequences. With the limited studies investigating this issue in Sudan, this study aimed at assessing psychiatric morbidity, determine stressors, evaluate mental health care seeking behavior and barriers to seeking help among medical students in Khartoum, Sudan. Methods This was a cross-sectional study with data collection for a period of one month, during the survey. Following ethical clearance and administrative approval, 644 students who gave consent were selected randomly from the university of Khartoum's faculty of medicine. The "12-General Health Questionnaire (GHQ12)" was used as a tool to assess prevalence of psychiatric morbidity, determine stressors and evaluate barriers to seeking mental health care among students for a period of a month. Results The overall prevalence of psychiatric morbidity was 56% (n = 356). The meaitions of students in medical school as well as addressing stigma related to mental health and educating students to recognize signs and symptoms of psychiatric morbidity while making help accessible might go a long way to address this challenge.Nijmegen Breakage Syndrome (NBS) is a rare autosomalrecessive DNA repair disorder characterized by genomic instability andincreased risk of haematopoietic malignancies observed in morethan 40% of the patients by the time they are 20 years old. There is the need to continue this internship to strengthen the capacity of our emerging health workforce in residency training to address our public health priorities in Nigeria.Introduction Medical education can be stressful and a source of psychiatric morbidity for medical students with the potential of causing serious professional and personal negative consequences. With the limited studies investigating this issue in Sudan, this study aimed at assessing psychiatric morbidity, determine stressors, evaluate mental health care seeking behavior and barriers to seeking help among medical students in Khartoum, Sudan. Methods This was a cross-sectional study with data collection for a period of one month, during the survey. Following ethical clearance and administrative approval, 644 students who gave consent were selected randomly from the university of Khartoum's faculty of medicine. The "12-General Health Questionnaire (GHQ12)" was used as a tool to assess prevalence of psychiatric morbidity, determine stressors and evaluate barriers to seeking mental health care among students for a period of a month. Results The overall prevalence of psychiatric morbidity was 56% (n = 356). The meaitions of students in medical school as well as addressing stigma related to mental health and educating students to recognize signs and symptoms of psychiatric morbidity while making help accessible might go a long way to address this challenge.Nijmegen Breakage Syndrome (NBS) is a rare autosomalrecessive DNA repair disorder characterized by genomic instability andincreased risk of haematopoietic malignancies observed in morethan 40% of the patients by the time they are 20 years old. We discovered that the ablation of choroidal macrophages via CSF1R blockade was associated with choroidal vascular atrophy and retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) changes including structural disruption, downregulation of visual cycle genes, and altered angiogenic factor expression. Suspending CSF1R blockade following ablation enabled spontaneous macrophage regeneration, which fully restored original macrophage distributions and morphologies. Macrophage regeneration was accompanied by arrested vascular degeneration and ameliorated pathological RPE alterations. These findings suggest that choroidal macrophages play a previously unappreciated trophic role in maintaining choroidal vasculature and RPE cells, implicating insufficiency in choroidal macrophage function as a factor in aging- and AMD-associated pathology. Adverse dermatological effects were evaluated by a physician at the beginning of the fifth week of radiotherapy and the patients were then randomly assigned (11 ratio) to receive either doxepin (5%) or placebo cream for 7 days. RESULTS There were no significant differences in the dermatitis grade between doxepin and placebo groups at baseline (P > .5). The occurrence of acute dermatitis (grade 2 or higher) was significantly lower with the use of doxepin than with placebo (P ≤ .0001, Zα = 1.96 at 95% confidence interval). CONCLUSION Doxepin cream prevents dermatitis grade 2 or higher during post-operative breast irradiation. METHODS A qualitative evaluation of Artspace was conducted between 2016 and 2017. RESULTS The evaluation showed that Artspace was particularly beneficial for those clients who had considerable exposure to social adversity and trauma, and were experiencing related serious health impacts. Artspace facilitated their recovery by enabling equitable access facilitation, social inclusion, creating a "holding" environment, and through the directly therapeutic benefits of artist-led arts processes. CONCLUSIONS Our study highlights the positive impact of artist-led programs such as Artspace. It also attests to the importance of long-term sustainability of services, to allow the time needed for young people to experience genuine and sustained recovery, and to reduce the otherwise likely disadvantages associated with mental and physical health problems, as they move into their adult lives. Youth health researchers have been recommending arts programs at health services as a means of engaging young people in health care for over 15 years, however, it remains an underutilised approach in primary care settings. METHODS Ten days after producing PNC rats, awake cystometrograms (CMGs) and isovolumetric cystometrograms with urethral perfusion pressure (IC-UPP) measurements were performed. Also, in control rats, IC-UPP was recorded before and after intravenous atropine administration to determine if the reduction of bladder contraction pressure affects urethral relaxation during voiding. Then, CMG and IC-UPP measurements in PNC rats were recorded after intravenous administration of tadalafil. Lastly, real-time polymerase chain reaction was used to measure transcript levels of neuronal nitric oxide synthases (nNOS), endothelial nitric oxide synthases, and PDE 5 in urethral specimens from PNC and control rats. RESULTS PNC rats demonstrated the characteristics of DU in CMG. Also, PNC rats exhibited significant decreases in isovolumetric bladder contraction amplitudes and urethral relaxation. Atropine attenuated the amplitude of isovolumetric bladder contractions; however, atropine did not affect urethral relaxation in control rats. Tadalafil decreased postvoid residual and increased voiding efficiency without changing bladder contraction amplitude in PNC rats. Also, tadalafil improved the amplitude of urethral relaxation during bladder contraction in PNC rats. Urethral nNOS transcript levels were upregulated in PNC rats compared to control rats. CONCLUSIONS PNC rats revealed both DU and impaired urethral relaxation. PDE 5 inhibition in PNC rats enhanced urethral relaxation during voiding, resulting in improved voiding efficiency. METHODS A CHORUS Working Group performed a standardized search of three different databases (Medline, Embase, Scopus), from inception to October 2019. We selected qualitative studies on women's perspectives on POP that were published in the English language. Three reviewers independently evaluated the quality of eligible papers and highlighted recurrent themes based on patient perspectives. RESULTS Eighteen qualitative studies including a total of 497 patients were assessed in this analysis. Our study revealed five superordinate themes, recurrently encountered in qualitative studies on POP awareness of POP (6 studies), communication (9 studies), treatments (10 studies), effects on quality of life (6 studies), and self-image (3 studies).

Unwanted pregnancy causes a serious health, economic, and social problem to the woman and her family. In the study area, there is limited data on unintended pregnancy. Therefore, this study fills this gap by studying the magnitude of unintended pregnancy and its associated factors among pregnant women attending antenatal care in the study area. Methods A facility-based cross-sectional study was done from 1 March to 1 April 2019, among 612 randomly selected pregnant women attending antenatal care at Bako Tibe district public health facility. The data were collected via interview using a structured and pretested questionnaire. They were entered into EpiData Version 3.1 and SPSS Version 23 for cleaning and analyses. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted in a population of patients who had a densitometric study. The diagnosis of sarcopenia was determined by the DXA standard gold test, screening, and conventional methods (bioimpedance, anthropometric measurements, SARC-F, muscle function, and gait test). Results A total of 92 patients were studied. The median age was 66 ± 10, 90% females. Using the criteria of SMI, 65% had sarcopenia of which 9% had only sarcopenia and 56% had osteosarcopenia; 22% had only osteopenia/osteoporosis; and 13% none of these conditions. The prevalence of sarcopenia according to handgrip strength was 60%, gait speed 45%, and SARC-F score 40%. The prevalence of osteosarcopenia according to handgrip strength was 51%, gait speed 34%, and SARC-F score 32%. Osteoporosis was associated with a higher prevalence of sarcopenia using the criteria of SMI since 40% had sarcopenia in the normal DXA group, 64% in the osteopenia group, and 76% in the osteoporosis group (p=0.017). Of the women, 69% had sarcopenia compared to 33% of the men (p=0.034). The BMI was lower in the group with sarcopenia (25.1 ± 4.1 kg/m2) compared to the group without sarcopenia (29.4 ± 4.1 kg/m2, p less then 0.001). Patients with osteosarcopenia and sarcopenia had lower BMI, handgrip strength, ASM, SMI, and total-body skeletal muscle mass than those with osteopenia/osteoporosis or normal patients. Conclusion 65% of the studied population had sarcopenia. It is clear that the prevalence of sarcopenia is higher in patients with greater loss of bone mass. Identifying pathways that affect both bone and muscle could facilitate the development of treatments that simultaneously improve osteoporosis and sarcopenia. Copyright © 2020 M. The current study examined the neural mechanisms of vicarious reward processing in 15 adults with ASD and 15 age- and gender-matched typically developing controls. Individuals with ASD demonstrated attenuated activation of reward-related regions during vicarious reward processing. Altered connectivity was also observed in individuals with ASD during reward receipt. The genetic polymorphisms (rs2853669 in TERT, rs1052133 in OGG1, and rs16969968 in CHRNA5 genes) were shown to be strongly associated with the risk of lung cancer. Our study's aim is to elucidate whether these polymorphisms predispose Eastern Algerian population to non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). To date, no study has considered this association in the Algerian population. This study included 211 healthy individuals and 144 NSCLC cases. Genotyping was performed using TaqMan probes and Sanger sequencing, and the data were analyzed using multivariate logistic regression adjusted for covariates. The minor allele frequencies (MAFs) of TERT rs2853669, CHRNA5 rs16969968, and OGG1 rs1052133 polymorphisms in controls were C 20%, A 31%, and G 29%, respectively. Of the three polymorphisms, none shows a significant association, but stratified analysis rs16969968 showed that persons carrying the AA genotype are significantly associated with adenocarcinoma risk (pAdj = 0.03, ORAdj = 2.55). Smokers with an AA allele have a larger risk of lung cancer than smokers with GG or GA genotype (pAdj = 0.03, ORAdj = 3.91), which is not the case of nonsmokers. Our study suggests that CHRNA5 rs16969968 polymorphism is associated with a significant increase of lung adenocarcinoma risk and with a nicotinic addiction. We obtained retrospective information on adverse childhood experiences of adolescents by ACEs, self-reported 10-item questionnaire, and current depression prevalence and severity by PHQ-9. Multivariate linear regression models were used to estimate child depression severity by retrospective ACE count. Results Among the 546 adolescents who participated in this study, 285 (50.7%) of the participants answered yes to at least one or more questions among the total 10 questions of ACEs. Experiences of ACEs increased the risk for depressive symptoms, with unstandardized β = 1.123 (β = 1.123, 95% CI (0.872, 1.373). We found a strong, dose-response relationship between the ACE score and the probability of lifetime and recent depressive disorders (p less then 0.0001). Conclusions The number of ACEs has a graded relationship to both the prevalence and severity of depressive symptoms.
