Thus, the wavelength scale should be externally calibrated only once for each smartphone spectrometer and can further be continuously verified and corrected using the proposed self-calibration approach. An ability of the plug-and play operation and the temperature drift elimination of the smartphone spectrometer was experimentally demonstrated. Conducted experiments involved interrogation of optical fiber Fabry-Perot interferometric sensor and demonstrated a nanometer-level optical path difference resolution.Spinel ZnGa2O4 has received significant attention from researchers due to its wide bandgap and high chemical and thermal stability; hence, paving the way for it to have potential in various applications. This review focuses on its physical, optical, mechanical and electrical properties, contributing to the better understanding of this material. The recent trends for growth techniques and processing in the research and development of ZnGa2O4 from bulk crystal growth to thin films are discussed in detail for device performance. This material has excellent properties and is investigated widely in deep-ultraviolet photodetectors, gas sensors and phosphors. In this article, effects of substrate temperature, annealing temperature, oxygen partial pressure and zinc/gallium ratio are discussed for device processing and fabrication. In addition, research progress and future outlooks are also identified.Peroxiredoxins (Prxs), which scavenge reactive oxygen species (ROS), are cysteine-dependent peroxide reductases that group into six structurally discernable classes AhpC-Prx1, BCP-PrxQ, Prx5, Prx6, Tpx, and AhpE. A previous study showed that forkhead box protein O (FOXO) in the insulin signaling pathway (ISP) plays a vital role in regulating locust diapause by phosphorylation, which can be promoted by the high level of ROS. Furthermore, the analysis of transcriptome between diapause and non-diapause phenotypes showed that one of the Prxs, LmPrx6, which belongs to the Prx6 class, was involved. We presumed that LmPrx6 might play a critical role in diapause induction of Locusta migratoria and LmPrx6 may therefore provide a useful target of control methods based on RNA interference (RNAi). To verify our hypothesis, LmPrx6 was initially cloned from L. migratoria to make dsLmPrx6 and four important targets were tested, including protein-tyrosine phosphorylase 1B (LmPTP1B), insulin receptor (LmIR), RAC serine/threonine-protein kinase (LmAKT), and LmFOXO in ISP. When LmPrx6 was knocked down, the diapause rate was significantly reduced. The phosphorylation level of LmPTP1B significantly decreased while the phosphorylation levels of LmIR, LmAKT, and LmFOXO were significantly increased. Moreover, we identified the effect on two categories of genes downstream of LmFOXO, including stress tolerance and storage of energy reserves. Results showed that the mRNA levels of catalase and Mn superoxide dismutase (Mn-***), which enhanced stress tolerance, were significantly downregulated after silencing of LmPrx6. The mRNA levels of glycogen synthase and phosphoenolpyruvate carboxy kinase (PEPCK) that influence energy storage were also downregulated after knocking down of LmPrx6. To elucidate the ME effect on PM capturing, we prepared electrospun poly(vinylidene fluoride)(PVDF)/CoFe2O4(CFO) membranes and investigated their PM capturing efficiency. After electrical poling under a high electric field of 10 kV/mm, PM-capturing efficiencies of the poled-PVDF/CFO membrane filters were improved with carbon/fluorine(C/F) molar ratios of C/F = 4.81 under Hdc = 0 and C/F = 7.01 under Hdc = 700 Oe, respectively. The result illustrates that electrical poling and a dc magnetic field could, respectively, enhance the surface charge of the membrane filters through (i) a strong beta-phase alignment in PVDF (poling effect) and (ii) an efficient shape change of PVDF/CFO membranes (magnetostriction effect).

To evaluate the current literature on technical feasibility and diagnostic value of PET/MRI in management of patients with neuroendocrine tumors (NETs).
A systematic literature search of the PubMed/MEDLINE database identified studies that evaluated the role of simultaneous PET/MRI for the evaluation of neuroendocrine tumors in human subjects. Exclusion criteria included studies lacking simultaneous PET/MRI, absence of other than attenuation-correction MRI pulse sequences, and case reports. No data-pooling or statistical analysis was performed due to the small number of articles and heterogeneity of the methodologies.
From the 21 identified articles, five were included, which demonstrated successful technical feasibility of simultaneous PET/MRI through various imaging protocols in a total of 105 patients. All articles demonstrated equal or superior detection of liver lesions by PET/MRI over PET/CT. While one study reported superior detection of bone lesions by PET/MRI, two demonstrated favorable detectio, follow up with PET/MRI may be preferred for those with liver-only disease. Another possible role for PET/MRI is to provide a multiparametric approach to follow up of response to treatment. With further advances in MRI imaging acquisitions and post-processing techniques, PET/MRI may become more applicable to a broader group of patients with NETs, and possibly the imaging modality of choice for this patient population.Background Modern contraceptive methods are considered more reliable for preventing and spacing pregnancy than traditional methods in sexual activity. The study aimed to analyze the association between recent sexual activity and the use of modern contraceptive methods among married/cohabiting women in Indonesia. Design The samples used were married/cohabiting women aged 15-49 years old. The sample size was 34,467 women. The variables analyzed included modern contraceptive use, recent sexual activity, age groups, marital status, education level, and wealth status. Analysis using multinomial logistic regression. Results It was found that women who were sexually not active last 4 weeks had the likely to use modern contraceptive non-LARC (long-acting reversible contraceptives) 0.416 times compared to women who were sexually active last 4 weeks. Women who were sexually active last 4 weeks were more likely to use modern contraceptive LARC 0.535 times than women who were sexually active last 4 weeks. The results of this analysis inform that women who are sexually active last 4 weeks have a higher possibility to use modern contraceptives, both non-LARC and LARC types. Conclusions Based on the results of the research analysis it could be concluded that recent sexual activity was associated with modern contraceptive use among married/cohabiting women in Indonesia.Background India, being the third worst affected country from COVID-19 pandemic at the time of study, faced complete lockdown to minimize community transmission that confined people to social isolation for extended durations. Design and Methods Therefore, we conducted an online questionnaire-based survey for the Indian population after 37 days of complete lockdown to assess the integrative effects of such home restriction and social isolation on mid-sleep time, social jetlag, and their associated psychosocial behavior. From the reports of sleep onset and waking-up times before and during lockdown as obtained from a total of 1511 respondents of ≥18 years, midsleep time (MST) and social jetlag (SJL) were calculated. Participants also rated their psychosocial behavior related variables on a Likert scale. Results Significantly delayed MST was noted during the lockdown. The majority showed reduced social jetlag; however, younger people and female subjects exhibited more SJL with delay in MST. Also, delayed MST and elevated SJL problems were more clearly demonstrated in people exhibiting more disturbances in sleep quality and daily routine, lower general mood status, irregular feeding habits (snacking frequency), worsened personal relationship, quality of life, and increased daydreaming events. Conclusion The study emphasizes the importance of maintaining a regular daily routine with respect to sleep-wake patterns and eating habits to minimize the impact of such a crisis situation on sleep behavior, social jetlag, and associated psychosocial wellbeing.Background The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic is a highly infectious viral disease that has spread to over one hundred and eight countries, including Nigeria. Governments across the globe have been implementing preventive measures towards curbing the spread and impact of the virus. These measures have continued to interfere with the general lifestyle of the people. Hence, this study was aimed at examining the socio-demographic predictors of adherence to prescribed recommendations and the psychological impacts of COVID-19 pandemic lockdown among Nigerian social media users. Methods This research implemented a cross-sectional survey using an online Google-based questionnaire to elicit required information from potential respondents via social media channels such as WhatsApp, Twitter, Instagram, Telegram and Facebook. An external link to the questionnaire was shared among Nigerian social media users between 1st and 31st April 2020, and a total of 1,131 respondents participated in the survey. The explanatory and outcome variables were displayed by frequency and percentage distribution while chi-square analysis was used to show the relationship between the explanatory and outcome variables at 5% level of significant. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/ptc596.html Results The study showed that 99% of the respondents reported to have been following some of the prescribed recommendations, however, only 40.4% of the respondents followed all the recommendations. There are currently two formats that are widely used non-magnetic beads or magnetic beads. Data are lacking regarding the comparability of results obtained using these two types of beads, and for assays run on different instruments. Whilst non-magnetic beads can only be run on flow-based instruments (such as the Luminex® 100/200™ or Bio-Plex® 200), magnetic beads can be run on both these and the newer MAGPIX® instruments. In this study we utilized a panel of purified recombinant Plasmodium vivax proteins and samples from malaria-endemic areas to measure P. vivax-specific IgG responses using different combinations of beads and instruments. We directly compared i) non-magnetic versus magnetic beads run on a Bio-Plex® 200, ii) magnetic beads run on the Bio-Plex® 200 versus MAGPIX® and iii) non-magnetic beads run on a Bio-Plex® 200 versus magnetic beads run on the MAGPIX®. Sexual assault is an important health and social problem affecting young girls. The aim of the study is therefore to do a one-year retrospective review of documents of alleged sexual assaults managed at Saint Paulo's Hospital Millennium Medical College (SPHMMC) to determine survivors' characteristics, circumstances of the assault, and treatment offered.
This is a hospital-based one-year retrospective review of alleged sexual assault cases. The case records of survivors were retrieved, reviewed and information extracted analyzed using SPSS version 17. Characteristics of victims of the sexual assault, clinical presentation, and management provided were described by frequency and percentage distribution.
A total of 170 cases of alleged sexual assault who received care during the study period were identified. Around 96% of the survivors were female while there were 6 male cases. This is a hospital-based one-year retrospective review of alleged sexual assault cases. The case records of survivors were retrieved, reviewed and information extracted analyzed using SPSS version 17. Patients at four institutions who underwent lymphadenectomy (1/1/2010-12/31/2019) for clinically evident melanoma LN metastases and received neoadjuvant and/or adjuvant ST with RT, or ST alone, but met indications for RT, were identified. Comparisons were made between ST alone and ST/RT groups. The primary outcome was 3-year cumulative incidence (CI) of LNB recurrence. Secondary outcomes included 3-year incidences of in-transit/distant recurrence and survival estimates.
Of 98 patients, 76 received ST alone and 22 received ST/RT. Median follow-up time for patients alive at last follow-up was 44.6months. The ST/RT group had fewer inguinal node metastases (ST 36.8% versus ST/RT 9.1%; P = 0.04), and more extranodal extennt ST.

The purpose of this study is to compare bone regeneration properties of recently available collagen-calcium phosphate (C-CP) blend as bone substitute (BS) material in oral surgery with calcium phosphate (CP) as well as collagen material (Collagen). Is C-CP better than the classic loose CP, or is it at least equally effective in the jawbone regeneration with the superiority of a coherent consistency?
This study included 102 patients during 12-month follow-up. All patients underwent the following surgical procedures sinus lift (52patients) and tooth extraction (50patients). Patients were divided into 3 groups which are as follows experimental group with C-CP, CP and pure Collagen as control groups. Texture analysis was performed in intra-oral radiographs. Analyses were performed in the MaZda 4.6 software. Average 2444-pixel ROIs were established in the image of BS materials and normal trabecular bone for texture comparison to evaluate the jawbone regeneration process. Four features were calculated and investigated.
Texture analyses revealed that all 4 features described the healing process well. Reference textural value of feature SumOfSqrs < 102.37 was soft tissue, DifEntr < 1.1 was not the bone, Entr < 2.62 was not a bone and LngREmph > 1.8 was soft tissue. For 12 months, bone regeneration was proved by 3 of 4 investigated features. Only Entr indicated to CP remnants in the ROI (p < 0.05).

Our submission was based on the non-equilibrium free energy calculation protocol utilizing an averaged consensus result from two force fields (GAFF and CGenFF). The submitted prediction achieved accuracy of [Formula see text] in terms of the unsigned error averaged over the whole dataset. Subsequently, we further report on the underlying reasons for discrepancies between our calculations and another submission to the SAMPL7 challenge which employed a similar methodology, but disparate ligand and water force fields. As a result we have uncovered a number of issues in the dihedral parameter definition of the GAFF 2 force field. In addition, we identified particular cases in the molecular topologies where different software packages had a different interpretation of the same force field. This latter observation might be of particular relevance for systematic comparisons of molecular simulation software packages.

SHANK3 is a postsynaptic scaffolding protein that plays a critical role in synaptic development and brain function. Mutations in SHANK3 are implicated in Phelan-McDermid syndrome (PMS), a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by autistic-like behavior, delayed speech, hypotonia, and intellectual disability (ID). Moreover, mutations in SHANK3 occur in 1-2% of cases of idiopathic autism spectrum disorder (ASD). In fragile X syndrome (FXS), a syndromic form of autism, SHANK3 is one of the 842 targets of fragile X mental retardation protein (FMRP), the protein product of the silenced FMR1 gene. FXS is likely a primary disorder of the regulation of translation, whereas other syndromic forms of ASD/ID, e.g. PMS, appear to be primary disorders of synaptic structure. In this study, we asked if a knockout of the synaptic protein, Shank3, is linked to an effect on translation. Specifically, we measured the effect of Shank3 loss on rates of cerebral protein synthesis (rCPS) in vivo by means of the L-[1-14C]leucine quantitative autoradiographic method. We found that Shank3 knockout **** had significantly increased rCPS in every brain region examined. Our results suggest a link in ASD/ID between synaptic structure and regulation of translation.Targeting energy metabolism holds the potential to effectively treat a variety of malignant diseases, and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma coactivator 1 alpha (PGC1α) is a key regulator of energy metabolism. However, PGC1α's role in cancer, especially in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains largely unknown. In the present study, we reported that PGC1α was significantly downregulated in HCC cell lines and specimens. Moreover, reduced expression of PGC1α in tumor cells was correlated with poor prognosis. PGC1α overexpression substantially inhibited cell proliferation and induced apoptosis in vitro and in vivo. On the contrary, the knockdown of PGC1α produced the opposite effect. The mechanism was at least partially due to the upregulation of mitochondrial pyruvate carrier 1 (****) caused by PGC1α, which promoted mitochondrial biogenesis by binding to nuclear respiratory factor 1 (NRF1). Consequently, the production of cellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) caused by mitochondrial oxidation was elevated above a critical threshold for survival. Furthermore, we found that PGC1α could enhance the antitumor activity of sorafenib and doxorubicin in HCC through ROS accumulation-mediated cell death. These results indicate that PGC1α/NRF1-**** axis is involved in HCC progression and could be a promising target for HCC treatment.
To evaluate the incorporation of doxycycline (DOX) into a commercial dental adhesive regarding physicochemical properties, microtensile bond strength (μTBS), nanoleakage (NL), nanohardness (NH) and Young's modulus (YM), metalloproteinases (MMP) inhibition, and antibiofilm activity.
DOX was incorporated into the adhesive at 0.05, 0.1, 0.5, and 1 wt%. Restored teeth were evaluated for μTBS, NL, NH, and YM after 24 -hs and 1-year of water storage. Biofilms of Streptococcus mutans were grown on top of these adhesives and determined for bacterial viability and amount of biomass. The inhibitory effect on MMP was analyzed by in situ zymography under confocal microscopy.
Adhesives with 0.5 and 1 wt% of DOX presented reduced pH and degree of conversion. The incorporation of DOX did not affect μTBS and hybrid layer YM. The control group (no DOX) had a decrease in μTBS and the densest silver nitrate areas after 1-year storage. Hybrid layer NH values increased with 0.1 wt% DOX compared to control and 1 wt% DOX groups, at 24 -hs. After 1-year storage, NH of 1 wt% DOX adhesive decreased compared to the control group. The 0.5 and 1 wt% concentrations of DOX decreased the bacterial viability and the biofilm biomass. Confocal images suggest an increased MMP inhibition proportional to the percentage of DOX.
At any concentration, DOX-doped dental adhesives were able to inhibit MMP activity, diminish nanoleakage, and maintain the resin-dentin bond-strength after 1 year of artificial aging.

To investigate the association between xerogenic medication use and tooth wear among American adults and whether this association can be explained by subjective oral dryness.
We used data from 3578 adults who participated in the National Health and Nutritional Examination Survey (NHANES). Tooth wear was clinically determined using the modified Tooth Wear Index. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/dt-061-smap.html Information on xerogenic medication use, subjective oral dryness (amount of saliva in mouth and feeling the mouth dry when eating) and potential confounders (sociodemographic factors, dental insurance coverage, gastroesophageal reflux disease medication use and soft drinks intake) were self-reported. The associations among xerogenic medication use, subjective oral dryness and tooth wear were assessed in regression models adjusting for confounders.
Adults taking xerogenic medication had greater odds of reporting too little amount of saliva and feeling the mouth dry when eating. In addition, participants taking one and multiple (two or more) xerogehat patients may recognise, through the perception of dry mouth, when medication is placing them at risk.

SHANK3 is a postsynaptic scaffolding protein that plays a critical role in synaptic development and brain function. Mutations in SHANK3 are implicated in Phelan-McDermid syndrome (PMS), a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by autistic-like behavior, delayed speech, hypotonia, and intellectual disability (ID). Moreover, mutations in SHANK3 occur in 1-2% of cases of idiopathic autism spectrum disorder (ASD). In fragile X syndrome (FXS), a syndromic form of autism, SHANK3 is one of the 842 targets of fragile X mental retardation protein (FMRP), the protein product of the silenced FMR1 gene. FXS is likely a primary disorder of the regulation of translation, whereas other syndromic forms of ASD/ID, e.g. PMS, appear to be primary disorders of synaptic structure. In this study, we asked if a knockout of the synaptic protein, Shank3, is linked to an effect on translation. Specifically, we measured the effect of Shank3 loss on rates of cerebral protein synthesis (rCPS) in vivo by means of the L-[1-14C]leucine quantitative autoradiographic method. We found that Shank3 knockout mice had significantly increased rCPS in every brain region examined. Our results suggest a link in ASD/ID between synaptic structure and regulation of translation.Targeting energy metabolism holds the potential to effectively treat a variety of malignant diseases, and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma coactivator 1 alpha (PGC1α) is a key regulator of energy metabolism. However, PGC1α's role in cancer, especially in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains largely unknown. In the present study, we reported that PGC1α was significantly downregulated in HCC cell lines and specimens. Moreover, reduced expression of PGC1α in tumor cells was correlated with poor prognosis. PGC1α overexpression substantially inhibited cell proliferation and induced apoptosis in vitro and in vivo. On the contrary, the knockdown of PGC1α produced the opposite effect. The mechanism was at least partially due to the upregulation of mitochondrial pyruvate carrier 1 (MPC1) caused by PGC1α, which promoted mitochondrial biogenesis by binding to nuclear respiratory factor 1 (NRF1). Consequently, the production of cellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) caused by mitochondrial oxidation was elevated above a critical threshold for survival. Furthermore, we found that PGC1α could enhance the antitumor activity of sorafenib and doxorubicin in HCC through ROS accumulation-mediated cell death. These results indicate that PGC1α/NRF1-MPC1 axis is involved in HCC progression and could be a promising target for HCC treatment. To evaluate the incorporation of doxycycline (DOX) into a commercial dental adhesive regarding physicochemical properties, microtensile bond strength (μTBS), nanoleakage (NL), nanohardness (NH) and Young's modulus (YM), metalloproteinases (MMP) inhibition, and antibiofilm activity. DOX was incorporated into the adhesive at 0.05, 0.1, 0.5, and 1 wt%. Restored teeth were evaluated for μTBS, NL, NH, and YM after 24 -hs and 1-year of water storage. Biofilms of Streptococcus mutans were grown on top of these adhesives and determined for bacterial viability and amount of biomass. The inhibitory effect on MMP was analyzed by in situ zymography under confocal microscopy. Adhesives with 0.5 and 1 wt% of DOX presented reduced pH and degree of conversion. The incorporation of DOX did not affect μTBS and hybrid layer YM. The control group (no DOX) had a decrease in μTBS and the densest silver nitrate areas after 1-year storage. Hybrid layer NH values increased with 0.1 wt% DOX compared to control and 1 wt% DOX groups, at 24 -hs. After 1-year storage, NH of 1 wt% DOX adhesive decreased compared to the control group. The 0.5 and 1 wt% concentrations of DOX decreased the bacterial viability and the biofilm biomass. Confocal images suggest an increased MMP inhibition proportional to the percentage of DOX. At any concentration, DOX-doped dental adhesives were able to inhibit MMP activity, diminish nanoleakage, and maintain the resin-dentin bond-strength after 1 year of artificial aging. LBNPs have demonstrated the ability to deliver therapeutic ncRNAs, more specifically microRNAs (miRNAs) and small interfering RNAs (siRNAs); this has been reported modulate the expression levels of oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes involved in several biological processes, including cell growth and proliferation, cell death, invasion and metastasis, thus impairing the malignant behavior of tumors. Therefore, ncRNA‑based therapies combined with the LBNP delivery strategy, namely nanomiRNAs, may represent a promising antitumor strategy guaranteeing superior biocompatibility, higher biodegradability, lower immunogenicity and decreased toxicity to normal cells compared with other therapeutic approaches. Natural killer (NK) cells were examined by flow cytometry following co‑culture with OCEXs. The expression of killer cell lectin like receptor K1 (KLRK1; also known as NKG2D, as used herein) and natural cytotoxicity triggering receptor 3 (NCR3; also known as NKp30, as used herein) in NK cells was found to be significantly upregulated following co‑culture with the OCEXs for 1 day, whereas this expression decreased at 7 days. Killer cell lectin like receptor C1 (KLRC1; also known as NKG2A; as used herein) expression exhibited an opposite trend at 1 day. The majority of the lncRNAs were intergenic and exonic (66.06%). Gene Ontology and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway analysis demonstrated that abnormally expressed lncRNAs were enriched in the 'NF‑kB expression', in the 'TGF‑β signaling pathway' and in the 'JAK‑STAT signaling pathway', which are associated with the immunopathogenic mechanisms of HT.

Most patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) are diagnosed at age 60 years or older. Challenges to effective therapy among older individuals include unfavorable biologic features of DLBCL, geriatric vulnerabilities, suboptimal treatment selection, and toxicities of cytotoxic chemotherapy. Wider application of geriatric assessments may help identify fit older patients who benefit from standard immunochemotherapy without unnecessary dose reductions. Conversely, attenuated regimens may provide a better balance of risk and benefit for selected unfit or frail patients. Supportive care with the use of corticosteroid-based prephase, prophylactic growth factors, and early institution of supportive and palliative care can help maximize treatment tolerance. Several novel or emerging therapies have demonstrated favorable toxicity profiles, thus facilitating effective treatment for elderly patients. In the relapsed or refractory setting, patients who are not candidates for stem cell transplantation can benefive disease biology and geriatric vulnerability. Although R-CHOP remains standard first-line treatment, geriatric assessment may help evaluate patients' fitness for immunochemotherapy. Corticosteroid prephase, prophylactic growth factors, and early palliative care can improve tolerance of treatment. Novel salvage options (polatuzumab vedotin-based combinations, tafasitamab plus lenalidomide) or chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy should be considered in the relapsed or refractory setting for patients ineligible for stem cell transplantation. Emerging immunotherapies (bispecific antibodies) and targeted therapies provide potential first-line chemotherapy-free approaches, which need to be rigorously assessed in clinical trials that involve geriatric patients.The complex COVID-19-associated coagulopathy appears to impair prognosis. Twenty-one Spanish-speaking children were observed longitudinally at 18, 21, 24, and 30 months of age. We analyzed the production of deictic, symbolic, and conventional gestures and their coordination with different verbal elements. Moreover, we explored the relationship between gestural multimodal and unimodal productions and independent measures of language development. Results showed that gesture production remains stable in the period studied. Whereas deictic gestures are frequent and mostly multimodal from the beginning, conventional gestures are rare and mainly unimodal. Symbolic gestures are initially unimodal, but between 24 and 30 months of age, this pattern reverses, with more multimodal symbolic gestures than unimodal. In addition, the frequency of multimodal representational gestures at specific ages seems to be positively related to independent measures of vocabulary and morphosyntax development. By contrast, the production of unimodal representational gestures appears negatively related to these measures. Herein, we report efficient catalysts for a two-step transformation of cellulose-derived glucose into adipic acid via glucaric acid. Carbon nanotube-supported platinum nanoparticles are found to work efficiently for the oxidation of glucose to glucaric acid. An activated carbon-supported bifunctional catalyst composed of rhenium oxide and palladium is discovered to be powerful for the removal of four hydroxyl groups in glucaric acid, affording adipic acid with a 99 % yield. Rhenium oxide functions for the deoxygenation but is less efficient for four hydroxyl group removal. The co-presence of palladium not only catalyzes the hydrogenation of olefin intermediates but also synergistically facilitates the deoxygenation. This work presents a green route for adipic acid synthesis and offers a bifunctional-catalysis strategy for efficient deoxygenation.

Twenty-one Spanish-speaking children were observed longitudinally at 18, 21, 24, and 30 months of age. We analyzed the production of deictic, symbolic, and conventional gestures and their coordination with different verbal elements. Moreover, we explored the relationship between gestural multimodal and unimodal productions and independent measures of language development. Results showed that gesture production remains stable in the period studied. Whereas deictic gestures are frequent and mostly multimodal from the beginning, conventional gestures are rare and mainly unimodal. Symbolic gestures are initially unimodal, but between 24 and 30 months of age, this pattern reverses, with more multimodal symbolic gestures than unimodal. In addition, the frequency of multimodal representational gestures at specific ages seems to be positively related to independent measures of vocabulary and morphosyntax development. By contrast, the production of unimodal representational gestures appears negatively related to these measures. An activated carbon-supported bifunctional catalyst composed of rhenium oxide and palladium is discovered to be powerful for the removal of four hydroxyl groups in glucaric acid, affording adipic acid with a 99 % yield. Rhenium oxide functions for the deoxygenation but is less efficient for four hydroxyl group removal. The co-presence of palladium not only catalyzes the hydrogenation of olefin intermediates but also synergistically facilitates the deoxygenation. The Continuum of Care (CoC; defined as accessing the recommended healthcare services during pregnancy and the early postpartum period) is low in lower-middle-income countries (LMICs). This may be a major contributor to the high rates of pregnancy-related complications and deaths in LMICs, particularly among women who had an unintended pregnancy. With a lack of research on the subject in Bangladesh, we aimed to examine the effect of unintended pregnancy on CoC.
Data from 4,493 mother-newborn dyads who participated in the cross-sectional 2014 Bangladesh Demographic and Health Survey were analysed. Women's level of CoC was generated from responses to questions on the use and non-use of three recommended services during the course of pregnancy four or more antenatal care (ANC) visits, skilled birth attendance (SBA) during delivery, and at least one postnatal care (PNC) visit within 24 hours of giving birth. Global recommendations of service use were used to classify CoC as high (used each of the recommended ses to scale up current maternal healthcare services that provide in-home maternal healthcare services and to monitor the continuity of ANC, with a particular focus on women who have an unintended pregnancy. Moreover, for RRM the genetic effects were modeled by Legendre polynomials of order two. Genetic variability between maize hybrids were assessed for GY. In general, estimates of broad-sense heritability, selective accuracy, and predicted selection gains were slightly higher when obtained using MTM and RRM. Thus, considering the criterion of parsimony and the possibility of predicting genetic values of hybrids for untested environments, RRM is a preferential approach for analyzing MET in maize breeding.
There is global shortage of Personal Protective Equipment due to COVID-19 pandemic. N95 Filtering Facepiece Respirators (N95-FFRs) provide respiratory protection against respiratory pathogens including SARS-CoV-2. There is scant literature on reprocessing methods which can enable reuse of N95-FFRs.
We conducted this study to evaluate research done, prior to COVID-19 pandemic, on various decontamination methods for reprocessing of N95-FFRs.
We searched 5 electronic databases (Pubmed, Google Scholar, Crossref, Ovid, ScienceDirect) and 1 Grey literature database (OpenGrey). We included original studies, published prior to year 2020, which had evaluated any decontamination method on FFRs. Studies had evaluated a reprocessing method against parameters namely physical changes, user acceptability, respirator fit, filter efficiency, microbicidal efficacy and presence of chemical residues post-reprocessing.

Tertiary oral health services (caries-related surgery, sedation, and emergency department visits) represent high-cost and ineffective ways to improve a child's oral health. We measured the impact of increased Texas Medicaid reimbursements for preventive dental care on use of tertiary oral health services.
We used difference-in-differences models to compare the effect of a policy change among children (≤9 y) enrolled in Medicaid in Texas and Florida. Linear regression models estimated 4 outcomes preventive care dental visit, dental sedation, emergency department use, and surgical event.
Increased preventive care visits led to increased sedation visits (1.7 percentage points, P < .001) and decreased emergency department visits (0.3 percentage points, P < .001) for children aged 9 years or younger. We saw no significant change in dental surgical rates associated with increased preventive dental care reimbursements.
Increased access to preventive dentistry was not associated with improved long-term oral health of Medicaid-enrolled children. Policies that aim to improve the oral health of children may increase the effectiveness of preventive dentistry by also targeting other social determinants of oral health.

Cells of strain CAU 1492T grew optimally at 30 °C, pH 7.0 and in 3 % (w/v) NaCl. Phylogenetic analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene sequence of CAU 1492T showed that it formed a distinct lineage within the family Rhodobacteraceae as a separate deep branch, with 96.8 % or lower sequence similarity values to representatives of the genera Marivita, Donghicola, Sulfitobacter, Marinovum, Phaeobacter, Primorskyibacter, Roseovarius and Aestuariihabitans. Strain CAU 1492T was closely related to Marivita geojedonensis DPG-138T (96.8 %), Donghicola eburneus SW-277T (96.7 %), Sulfitobacter porphyrae SCM-1T (96.7 %), Marinovum algicola FF3T (96.6 %) and Aestuariihabitans beolgyonensis BB-MW15T (96.4 %) based on 16S rRNA gene sequences. In this study, we presented three male adolescents with MIS and myocardial injury admitted to the hospital during the peak of COVID-19 pandemic. Previously, they did not have an acute infection. Upon admission, they were hypotensive and tachycardic. Phylogenetic analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene sequence of CAU 1492T showed that it formed a distinct lineage within the family Rhodobacteraceae as a separate deep branch, with 96.8 % or lower sequence similarity values to representatives of the genera Marivita, Donghicola, Sulfitobacter, Marinovum, Phaeobacter, Primorskyibacter, Roseovarius and Aestuariihabitans. Strain CAU 1492T was closely related to Marivita geojedonensis DPG-138T (96.8 %), Donghicola eburneus SW-277T (96.7 %), Sulfitobacter porphyrae SCM-1T (96.7 %), Marinovum algicola FF3T (96.6 %) and Aestuariihabitans beolgyonensis BB-MW15T (96.4 %) based on 16S rRNA gene sequences. The major cellular fatty acids of strain CAU 1492T were cyclo-C19  0 ω8c and summed feature 8 (C18  1 ω7c/C18  1 ω6c). The polar lipid pattern was composed of phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, an unidentified phospholipid and an unidentified aminolipid. The strain contained Q-10 as the sole respiratory quinone. The draft genome of strain CAU 1492T was 4.63 Mb with a DNA G+C content of 63.1 mol%. The genome includes 4292 protein-coding genes and a five rRNA operons. On the basis of the phenotypic, chemotaxonomic and genomic data, strain CAU 1492T represents a novel genus in the family Rhodobacteraceae for which the name Arenibacterium halophilum gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed. In this study, we presented three male adolescents with MIS and myocardial injury admitted to the hospital during the peak of COVID-19 pandemic. All of the three patients had a history of fever, gastrointestinal symptoms, polymorph rash, non-exudative onjunctivitis, and signs of acute myocarditis (AM). One of them had renal failure. Previously, they did not have an acute infection. Upon admission, they were hypotensive and tachycardic. Conclusions This study provides powerful accounts from YA vapers about their experience of respiratory health symptoms that they ascribe to vaping. Future research is needed to evaluate the prevalence and severity, as well as the risk and protective factors, of adverse respiratory health symptoms associated with vaping. To address the lack of validated patient-reported outcome (PRO) instruments that define and quantify patient expectations in thyroid cancer surgery, we developed and initially validated ThyroidEx, a novel disease-specific PRO instrument.

An expert panel drafted an initial set of thyroid cancer-specific concepts, which was used in semistructured concept elicitation interviews with patients with thyroid cancer 4 weeks before and 8 weeks after surgery. The draft ThyroidEx was then preoperatively administered to a separate cohort undergoing thyroid cancer surgery to establish a final item set and initial psychometric evidence.
Prospective concept elicitation interviews generated 358 patient-elicited concepts (n = 15 patients). These were then placed into 70 unique subcategories from which 41 items were generatperative consultation and the consent process.While fertility is a widely studied public health issue, infertility among college students is rarely examined. Research on fertility among college students focuses primarily on pregnancy prevention. Often constructed as hyper-fertile, cohorts of women in graduate studies are struggling with fertility issues and left to suffer in silence. Objective This study aimed to identify barriers to access and gaps in available reproductive services to college attending women. Methods This multi-method, exploratory study employed online surveys (n = 37), semi-structured interviews (n = 5), and an assessment of fertility-related school health services available at universities nationally to understand issues related to infertility, including experience with and access to services. Results A near absence of fertility-related care on college campuses emerged nationally, while a clear need among female graduate students emerged locally. Perceptions of poor treatment and dismissal of concerns were prominent issues. Conclusions Findings suggest the need for self-advocacy, while highlighting the potential role of university and community supports for women suffering from the dual burden of being a student while struggling with fertility related issues.

Pain is a characteristic, unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage. Pain is a subjective sensation, modulated by many factors such as age, sex, emotional state, national origin, or physical activity. Moreover, it is closely associated with intense physical activity, injuries, and traumas, which can significantly modulate pain tolerance.
We postulate that there are correlations between past injuries, physical activity, and intensity of pain perception (pain threshold and pain tolerance) in a population of healthy men and women.

Among the 1201 articles retrieved, we selected 165 studies (West Africa, 118; Central Africa, 47) with data from 22 of the 26 West and Central Africa countries. Regarding the settings, 136 articles focused only on humans (carriage and/or infection), 6 articles on humans and animals, 13 on animals, 1 on humans and the environment, 8 on the environment and 1 on humans, animals and environments. ESBL-E prevalence ranged from 11-72% in humans and 7-79% in aquatic environments (wastewater). In animals, ESBL-E prevalence hugely varied 0% in cattle, 11-36% in chickens, 20% in rats, 21-71% in pigs and 32-75% in dogs. The blaCTX-M-15 gene was the predominant ESBL-encoding gene and was associated with plasmids of incompatibility groups F, H, K, Y, N, I1 and R. CPE were studied only in humans. Class B metallo-β-lactamases (NDM) and class D oxacillinases (OXA-48 and OXA-181) were the most common carbapenemases. Our results show major knowledge gaps, particularly on ESBL and CPE in animals and the environment, that might limit antimicrobial resistance management in these regions. It was indicated that the mean adherence and invasion rate of C.jejuni isolates was significantly higher than C.coli and the highest adhesion rate among the C.jejuni and C.coli belonged to strains harboring 4 (flaA, cadF, peb1A, and flpA) and 3 (flaA, cadF, and peb1A) adherence genes, respectively, which indicates that the adhesion potential of C.coli and C.jejuni strains is associated with the coordinate function and cumulative effect of selected virulence-associated genes. The highest invasion rate in C.jejuni (10.3%) and C.coli (8.4%) isolates belonged to strains which concomitantly contained 3 (ciaB, iamA, and tlp1) and 2 (ciaB and iamA) invasion-associated genes which emphasizes on the cooperative roles of these genes in C.jejuni and C.coli invasion to Caco-2 cells. The toxicity of C.jejuni for Caco-2 cells was proved higher than that of C.coli. There was a positive correlation between adherence, invasion and toxicity of both C.jejuni and C.coli isolates. Moreover, the expression levels of CDT-producing genes in C.jejuni strains was significantly higher than that of C.coli. The average cytotoxicity of the strains with all three CDT-encoding genes (cdtA, cdtB and cdtC) was statistically higher than those lacking one or more CDT subunits. A crucial contribution of CdtB to the cytotoxicity of Campylobacter strains was detected. We recently reported that an engineered GOC bypass could increase photosynthesis and productivity in rice. However, the grain yield of GOC plants was unstable, fluctuating in different cultivation seasons because of varying seed setting rates. In this study, we designed a synthetic photorespiratory shortcut (the GCGT bypass) consisting of genes encoding Oryza sativa glycolate oxidase and Escherichia coli catalase, glyoxylate carboligase, and tartronic semialdehyde reductase. The GCGT bypass was guided by an optimized chloroplast transit peptide that targeted rice chloroplasts and redirected 75% of carbon from glycolate metabolism to the Calvin cycle, identical to the native photorespiration pathway. GCGT transgenic plants exhibited significantly increased biomass production and grain yield, which were mainly attributed to enhanced photosynthesis due to increased chloroplastic CO2 concentrations. Despite the increases in biomass production and grain yield, GCGT transgenic plants showed a reduced seed setting rate, a phenotype previously reported for the GOC plants. Integrative transcriptomic, physiological, and biochemical assays revealed that photosynthetic carbohydrates were not transported to grains in an efficient manner, thereby reducing the seed setting rate. Taken together, our results demonstrate that the GCGT photorespiratory shortcut confers higher yield by promoting photosynthesis in rice, mainly through increasing chloroplastic CO2 concentrations.

We recently reported that an engineered GOC bypass could increase photosynthesis and productivity in rice. However, the grain yield of GOC plants was unstable, fluctuating in different cultivation seasons because of varying seed setting rates. In this study, we designed a synthetic photorespiratory shortcut (the GCGT bypass) consisting of genes encoding Oryza sativa glycolate oxidase and Escherichia coli catalase, glyoxylate carboligase, and tartronic semialdehyde reductase. The GCGT bypass was guided by an optimized chloroplast transit peptide that targeted rice chloroplasts and redirected 75% of carbon from glycolate metabolism to the Calvin cycle, identical to the native photorespiration pathway. GCGT transgenic plants exhibited significantly increased biomass production and grain yield, which were mainly attributed to enhanced photosynthesis due to increased chloroplastic CO2 concentrations. Despite the increases in biomass production and grain yield, GCGT transgenic plants showed a reduced seed setting rate, a phenotype previously reported for the GOC plants. Integrative transcriptomic, physiological, and biochemical assays revealed that photosynthetic carbohydrates were not transported to grains in an efficient manner, thereby reducing the seed setting rate.
