  • The prevalence of low **** pain is lower when physical fitness (aerobic and muscular) is higher. Strength exercises are important for subjects with low **** pain, but there are few studies on the inclusion of aerobic exercise in low **** pain programs.     The use of antibiotics and possibility of microbiota disruption during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‑19) pandemic have raised questions about the incidence of Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI).

    This study aimed to assess the frequency of and risk factors for CDI in patients with COVID‑19.

    We conducted a retrospective, single‑center evaluation study on the frequency of and risk factors for CDI in patients with COVID‑19 and in the prepandemic era. The analysis included 441 patients with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS‑CoV‑2) infection and 2961 pa‑ tients hospitalized before the pandemic.

    A significant increase in the incidence of CDI was noted during the COVID‑19 pandemic compared with the prepandemic period 10.9% versus 2.6%, P <0.001. Risk factors for CDI in patients with COVID‑19 included age, length of hospital stay, occurrence of diarrhea during hospitalization, use of antibiotics other than azithromycin, and coexistence of nervous system disease or chronic kidney disease-all of these factos had a weak association with CDI development.     Experimental investigation is carried out to determine the flowability and stickiness of the developed composite material for dental restoration containing low aspect ratio (AR ≤ 100) surface treated micro-sized glass fibres.

    Specimens are manufactured by mixing low AR (50/70/100) micro-sized glass fibres with two different weight fractions (5%/10%) into UDMA/TEGDMA based resin. Particulate filler composite (PFC) containing 55% glass fillers is used as the control group. Dynamic oscillatory strain sweep tests are conducted to analyse the linear viscoelastic behaviour. Solid-to fluidic transition behaviour of dental composites is also calculated in terms of flow and yield stresses. Furthermore, the oscillatory frequency sweep tests are conducted at three different strains (0.5%, 5% and 50%) resembling the positioning of unset paste onto restorations for different real-life clinical situations. Additionally, stickiness of dental composites with handling instrument (steel) and dentine covered with bonding aghe varying interactions between micro-sized fibres of different AR/weight fraction, particulate fillers and monomers.
    Ultraviolet (UV) irradiation is the main contributing factor for skin aging. UV irradiation induces epigenetic changes in skin. It increases the activity of histone acetylases (HATs) but decreases that of histone deacetylases (HDACs).

    We aimed to investigate alterations in all classes of HDACs and sirtuins (SIRTs) in response to UV irradiation, and determine the HDACs regulating the expressions of matrix metalloproteinase 1 (MMP-1) and type I procollagen.

    Primary human dermal fibroblasts were UV irradiated. HDAC4 was knocked-down or overexpressed to investigate its effect on the expression of MMP-1 and type I procollagen. The mRNA and protein levels were analyzed by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction and western blotting.

    Among 11 HDACs and 7 SIRTs, we found that the expression of HDAC4, HDAC5, HDAC6, HDAC7, HDAC8, HDAC11, SIRT2, and SIRT3 were significantly and consistently reduced by UV at both mRNA and protein levels. Among these, the reduction of HDAC4 was responsible for the basal and UV-induced increase in the expression of MMP-1 and decrease in that of type I procollagen. Furthermore, the reduced HDAC4 could activate c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK), resulting in an increase in MMP-1 and decrease in type I procollagen.

    Post-mastectomy breast reconstruction (PMBR) is an important component of the multidisciplinary care of breast cancer patients. Despite the improved quality of life, significant racial disparities exist in the receipt of PMBR. Given the increasing population of Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) women in UK, it is important to address this disparity. Our review aims to identify the barriers and facilitators influencing the uptake of PMBR in BAME women and raise awareness for physicians on interventions that could improve uptake of PMBR in BAME women.

    The methodology outlined by the Cochrane guidelines was used to structure this systematic review. Systematic searches for qualitative studies on barriers and/or facilitators to PMBR in ethnic women published in English were conducted. The following databases were searched from their inception up to June 2019 MEDLINE, EMBASE, PubMed, Cochrane Library, Google Scholar and Scopus. Reference lists of all included articles and relevant systematic reviews were n. Considering the expanding population of BAME women and increasing breast cancer incidence, it is imperative that future research in this field is carried out. Physician and patient-associated factors were identified as the most important yet modifiable factors. Adopting a combination of culturally tailored interventions targeting these factors may help improve the access of PMBR in BAME women.

    This study was designed to assess hemodynamic changes in response to transcatheter tricuspid valve edge-to-edge repair (TTVR) and to identify hemodynamic predictors associated with mortality.

    Severe tricuspid regurgitation (TR) is associated with high mortality. TTVR effectively alleviates heart failure symptoms, but comprehensive hemodynamic characterization of patients undergoing TTVR is currently lacking.

    This international, multicenter study included 236 patients undergoing TTVR. Data from clinical assessment, echocardiography, intraprocedural right heart catheterization, and noninvasive cardiac output measurement were analyzed. Hemodynamic predictors for mortality were identified using linear Cox regression analysis and were used for stratification of patients with subsequent analysis of survival time.

A complete 108-step reaction pathway of butane (C4H10) dehydrogenation was studied, yielding 1-butene (CH2CHCH2CH3) and 2-butene (CH3CHCHCH3), 1-butyne (CHCCH2CH3) and 2-butyne (CH3CCCH3), butadiene (CH2CHCHCH2), butenyne (CH2CHCCH), and ultimately butadiyne (CHCCCH). We include cracking and coking reactions (yielding C1, C2, and C3 hydrocarbons) in the model to provide a thorough description of catalyst deactivation as aty above 90% and turn-over frequency above 10-3 s-1 at T = 900 K. Butane conversion is below 5% at such low temperature, but rises above 40% at T > 1100 K. Activity starts to drop after ∼6 h because of surface poisoning with carbon. In situ Fourier-transformed infrared spectroscopy revealed a weaker CO adsorption site in the case of the SnO2-decorated Pd NCs, compared to the monometallic Pd NCs, enabling a bifunctional reaction mechanism. Therein, SnO2 provides oxygen species to the Pd surface at low overpotentials, promoting the oxidation of the poisoning CO intermediate and, thus, improving the catalytic performance of Pd.   • Work fatigue negatively impacts personal health in the long term. Prior research has indicated the possibility of leveraging both walking parameters and perceptual measures to assess a person's fatigue status. However, an effective and ubiquitous approach to assessing work fatigue in young adults remains unexplored.

    The goals of this paper were to (1) explore how walking rhythms and multiple streams of data, including reaction time, self-reports, and an activity diary, reflect work-induced fatigue in the lab setting; (2) identify the relationship between objective performance and subjective perception in indicating fatigue status and fatigability; and (3) propose a mobile-based assessment for work-induced fatigue that uses multiple measurements.

    We conducted a 2-day in-lab study to measure participants' fatigue status using multiple measurements, including the stair climb test (SCT), the 6-minute walk test (6MWT), and the reaction time test. Both the SCT and the 6MWT were conducted at different points i fatigue. Overall, our work suggests the opportunity of employing mobile-based walking measurements to indicate work fatigue among young adults.
    The parents of hospitalized children are often dissatisfied with waiting times, fasting, discharge criteria, postoperative pain relief, and postoperative guidance. Parents' experiences help care providers to provide effective, family-centered care that responds to parents' needs throughout the day surgery pathway.

    Parental experiences of the chil digital gaming solution may be a relevant tool to support communication and to provide information on day surgeries. Families are ready for and are open to digital gaming solutions that provide support and guidance and engage children in the day surgery pathways.
    Many older adults choose to live independently in their homes for as long as possible, despite psychosocial and medical conditions that compromise their independence in daily living and safety. Faced with unprecedented challenges in allocating resources, home care administrators are increasingly open to using monitoring technologies known as ambient assisted living (AAL) to better support care recipients. To be effective, these technologies should be able to report clinically relevant changes to support decision making at an individual level.

    The aim of this study is to examine the concurrent validity of AAL monitoring reports and information gathered by care professionals using triangulation.

    This longitudinal single-case study spans over 490 days of monitoring a 90-year-old woman with Alzheimer disease receiving support from local health care services. A clinical nurse in charge of her health and social care was interviewed 3 times during the project. Linear mixed models for repeated measures were usehe nurse develop interventions to maintain the care recipient at home. These findings suggest the vast potential of AAL technologies to support health care services and aging in place by providing valid and clinically relevant information over time regarding activities of daily living. Such data are essential when other sources yield incomplete information for decision making.
    Overall, trends identified by AAL monitoring are consistent with clinical reports. They help answer the nurse's questions and help the nurse develop interventions to maintain the care recipient at home. These findings suggest the vast potential of AAL technologies to support health care services and aging in place by providing valid and clinically relevant information over time regarding activities of daily living.     Telemonitoring studies in chronic heart failure are characterized by mixed mortality and hospitalization outcomes, which have deterred the uptake of telemonitoring in clinical practice. These mixed outcomes may reflect the diverse range of patient management strategies incorporated in telemonitoring. To address this, we compared the effects of different telemonitoring strategies on clinical outcomes.

    The aim of this systematic review and subgroup meta-analysis was to identify noninvasive telemonitoring strategies attributing to improvements in all-cause mortality or hospitalization outcomes for patients with chronic heart failure.

    We reviewed and analyzed telemonitoring strategies from randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing telemonitoring intervention with usual care. For each strategy, we examined whether RCTs that applied the strategy in the telemonitoring intervention (subgroup 1) resulted in a significantly lower risk ratio (RR) of all-cause mortality or incidence rate ratio (IRR) of all-causments in all-cause mortality or hospitalization outcomes. These strategies should be prioritized in telemonitoring interventions for the management of patients with chronic heart failure.
    Although the electronic health record system adoption rate has reached 96% in the United States, implementation and usage of health information exchange (HIE) is still lagging behind. Blockchain has come into the spotlight as a technology to solve this problem. However, there have been no studies assessing the perspectives of different stakeholders regarding blockchain-based patient-centered HIE.

    The objective of this study was to analyze the awareness among patients, health care professionals, and information technology developers toward blockchain-based HIE, and compare their different perspectives related to the platform using a qualitative research methodology.

    In this qualitative study, we applied grounded theory and the Promoting Action on Research Implementation in the Health Service (PARiHS) framework. We interviewed 7 patients, 7 physicians, and 7 developers, for a total of 21 interviewees.

    Regarding the leakage of health information, the patient group did not have concerns in contrast to the physician and developer groups.

  • We used longitudinal health administrative data from a cohort of practicing physicians from 2006 through 2016. Because physicians practicing in these two models are likely to be different, we employed inverse probability weighting based on estimated propensity scores to ensure that switchers and non-switchers were comparable at the baseline. Using inverse probability weighted fixed-effects regressions controlling for relevant confounders, we found that switching from blended FFS to blended capitation was associated with a 6.2% decrease in the number of psychiatric hospitalizations and a 4.7% decrease in the number of patients with a psychiatric hospitalization. No significant effect of remuneration on follow-up visits within 14 days of discharge was observed. Our results suggest that the blended capitation model is associated with fewer psychiatric hospitalizations relative to blended FFS.Electrical asymmetrical flow field-flow fractionation (EAF4) is an interesting new analytical technique that separates proteins based on size or molecular weight and simultaneously determines the electrical characteristics of each population. However, until now, the research using EAF4 has not been published except for the proof-of-concept in the original publication by Johann et. al. in 2015 [1]. Hence the methods capabilities and optimized conditions need to be further investigated, such as composition of the carrier liquid, pH stability and effect of the electric field strength. The pH instability was observed in the initial method of EAF4 due to the electrolysis products when applied electric field. Therefore, we have investigated and provided a modified method for rapid pH stabilization through additional focusing step with the electric field. Then, the electrical properties such as the zeta-potential and effective net charge of the monomer and oligomers of three different proteins (GA-Z, BSA, and Ferritin) were determined based on their electrophoretic mobility from EAF4. The results showed that there were limitations to the applicability of separation by EAF4 to proteins. Based on this fact, a new method of HC-POF coated stir bar sorptive extraction combined with high performance liquid chromatography-diode array detector was developed for the determination of six TFs in grape and cabbage samples. A series of extraction and desorption conditions were carefully optimized, including salt concentration, sample solution pH, stirring rate and desorption solvent. Under the optimized experimental conditions, the proposed method displayed limits of detection in the range of 0.022 -0.071 μg L-1, which is the lowest among the reported SBSE methods for target TFs analysis. Anion exchange chromatography (AEX) has been well-accepted in the industry as one of the workhorse techniques for removing viruses, and is considered to be able to achieve high log clearance values under most operating conditions. However, it is not uncommon for viral clearance results on AEX to fall below the desired level despite operating under conditions that should achieve high clearance levels according to conventional wisdom of how this mode of chromatography operates. In this study, a design of experiment (DoE) approach was used to develop a more fundamental understanding of viral clearance during AEX chromatography using Minute Virus of **** (MVM) on POROS HQ resin. Load pH, conductivity and virus concentration were evaluated as design factors for three mAbs with varying physical and chemical properties. The hydrophobicity and surface charge distributions of the molecules were found to be the most significant factors in influencing viral clearance performance, and the viral clearance trends did not seem to fit with conventional wisdom. To explain this seemingly unconventional behavior, we propose a new mechanism that suggests that interactions between the mAb and the virus have a major contribution on retention of the virus on the resin. These observations are predicted from solid-liquid adsorption thermodynamics which requires the measurement of the excess adsorption isotherm of acetonitrile from water onto the RPLC column and of the variation of the Henry's constant of TFA as a function of the volume fraction of acetonitrile in the bulk mobile phase. The incomplete mixing of the acetonitrile and water packets delivered by the low-pressure GPV is represented by a sinusoidal perturbation of the programmed volume fraction of acetonitrile during the entire gradient. The variation of the TFA absorbance at 215 nm with increasing acetonitrile concentration is measured in order to transform TFA concentration into the observable absorbance unit.
    We used longitudinal health administrative data from a cohort of practicing physicians from 2006 through 2016. Because physicians practicing in these two models are likely to be different, we employed inverse probability weighting based on estimated propensity scores to ensure that switchers and non-switchers were comparable at the baseline. Using inverse probability weighted fixed-effects regressions controlling for relevant confounders, we found that switching from blended FFS to blended capitation was associated with a 6.2% decrease in the number of psychiatric hospitalizations and a 4.7% decrease in the number of patients with a psychiatric hospitalization. No significant effect of remuneration on follow-up visits within 14 days of discharge was observed. Our results suggest that the blended capitation model is associated with fewer psychiatric hospitalizations relative to blended FFS.Electrical asymmetrical flow field-flow fractionation (EAF4) is an interesting new analytical technique that separates proteins based on size or molecular weight and simultaneously determines the electrical characteristics of each population. Anion exchange chromatography (AEX) has been well-accepted in the industry as one of the workhorse techniques for removing viruses, and is considered to be able to achieve high log clearance values under most operating conditions. However, it is not uncommon for viral clearance results on AEX to fall below the desired level despite operating under conditions that should achieve high clearance levels according to conventional wisdom of how this mode of chromatography operates. In this study, a design of experiment (DoE) approach was used to develop a more fundamental understanding of viral clearance during AEX chromatography using Minute Virus of Mice (MVM) on POROS HQ resin. Load pH, conductivity and virus concentration were evaluated as design factors for three mAbs with varying physical and chemical properties. The hydrophobicity and surface charge distributions of the molecules were found to be the most significant factors in influencing viral clearance performance, and the viral clearance trends did not seem to fit with conventional wisdom. To explain this seemingly unconventional behavior, we propose a new mechanism that suggests that interactions between the mAb and the virus have a major contribution on retention of the virus on the resin.   • We study the position distribution of a single active Brownian particle (ABP) on the plane. We show that this distribution has a compact support, the boundary of which is an expanding circle. We focus on a short-time regime and employ the optimal fluctuation method to study large deviations of the particle position coordinates x and y. We determine the optimal paths of the ABP, conditioned on reaching specified values of x and y, and the large deviation functions of the marginal distributions of x and of y. These marginal distributions match continuously with "near tails" of the x and y distributions of typical fluctuations, studied earlier. We also calculate the large deviation function of the joint x and y distribution P(x,y,t) in a vicinity of a special "zero-noise" point, and show that lnP(x,y,t) has a nontrivial self-similar structure as a function of x, y, and t. The joint distribution vanishes extremely fast at the expanding circle, exhibiting an essential singularity there. This singularity is inherited by the marginal x- and y-distributions. We argue that this fingerprint of the short-time dynamics remains there at all times.This paper presents analytical and numerical results on the energetics of nonharmonic, undamped, single-well, stochastic oscillators driven by additive Gaussian white noises. The absence of damping and the action of noise are responsible for the lack of stationary states in such systems. Our development of kinetic and hydrodynamic theories towards such a solution reveals the existence of a wide variety of spatially nonhomogeneous patterns reminiscent of traveling bands, clouds, and vortical structures of linear active matter. Our model may thereby serve as the basis for understanding the nature of chiral active media and designing multiagent swarms with designated behavior.Active fluids containing self-propelled particles are relevant for applications such as self-mixing, micropumping, and targeted drug delivery. With a confined boundary, active fluids can generate bulk flow inside the system, which has the potential to create self-propelled active matter. In this study, we propose that an active droplet is driven by a collective motion of enclosed microswimmers. We show that the droplet migrates via the flow field generated by the enclosed microswimmers; moreover, the locomotion direction depends on the swimming mode of these internal particles. The locomotion mechanism of the droplet can be well explained by interfacial velocity, and the locomotion velocity shows good agreement with the Lighthill-Blake theory. These findings are essential to understand the interplay between the motion of self-propelled particles and the bulk motion response of active matter.As the places where most of the fuel of the cell, namely, ATP, is synthesized, mitochondria are crucial organelles in eukaryotic cells. The shape of the invaginations of the mitochondria inner membrane, known as a crista, has been identified as a signature of the energetic state of the organelle. In this work, we investigate the crista membrane deformations using a pH-dependent Helfrich model, maintained out of equilibrium by a diffusive flux of protons. This model gives rise to shape changes of a cylindrical invagination, in particular to the formation of necks between wider zones under variable, and especially oscillating, proton flux.In this paper, we propose an efficient coupled approach for uncertainty quantification of permeability for randomly reconstructed three-dimensional (3D) pore images, where the porosity and two-point correlations of a realistic sandstone sample are honored. The Joshi-Quiblier-Adler approach and Karhunen-**ève expansion are utilized for quick reconstruction of 3D pore images with reduced random dimensionality. The eigenvalue problem for the covariance matrix of 3D intermediate Gaussian random fields is solved equivalently by a kernel method. Then, the lattice Boltzmann method is adopted to simulate fluid flow in reconstructed pore space and evaluate permeability. Lastly, the sparse polynomial chaos expansion (sparse PCE) integrated with a feature selection method is employed to predict permeability distributions incurred by the randomness in microscopic pore structures. The feature selection process, which is intended to discard redundant basis functions, is carried out by the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator-modified least angle regression along with cross validation. The competence of our proposed approach is validated by the results from Monte Carlo simulation. It reveals that a small number of samples is sufficient for sparse PCE with feature selection to produce convincing results. Then, we utilize our method to quantify the uncertainty of permeability under different porosities and correlation parameters. It is found that the predicted permeability distributions for reconstructed 3D pore images are close to experimental measurements of Berea sandstones in the literature. In addition, the results show that porosity and correlation length are the critical influence factors for the uncertainty of permeability.

While the example for immunopathology induced by senescent cells that we highlight is cutaneous leishmaniasis, this situation of organ damage may apply to other infections, including COVID-19 and also rheumatoid arthritis, where ageing, inflammation and senescent cells are all part of the same equation.

Established in 2003, BCFP is a voluntary and cooperative network aiming to investigate the health care of people with these diseases and other craniofacial anomalies. The initiatives and research results are presented in four sections (a) a comprehensive report of the Brazilian public health system in craniofacial genetics; (b) multicentric studies developed on OFC and 22q11.2 DS; (c) education strategies focused on addressing these conditions for both population and health-care professionals; and (d) the nosology through the Brazilian Database on Craniofacial Anomalies (****). Since 2006, **** uses a standardized method with detailed clinical data collection, which allows for conducting studies on nosology, genotype-phenotype correlations, and natural history; data can also contribute to public policies. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/ver155008.html Currently, the **** stores data on 1,724 individuals, including 1,351 (78.36%) who were primarily admitted due to OFC and 373 (21.63%) with clinical suspicion of 22q11.2 DS. The pieces of evidence indicate that propolis as a novel anti-inflammatory agent might be a promising candidate to treat NAFLD. We aimed to evaluate the efficacy of propolis on hepatic steatosis and fibrosis in patients with NAFLD. This randomized clinical trial was conducted on 54 patients with NAFLD. Patients were randomly assigned to receive propolis tablets at a dose of 250 mg twice daily for 4 months or placebo. The improvement in hepatic steatosis and fibrosis was evaluated using two-dimensional shear wave elastography. Improvement in the hepatic steatosis was significantly higher in the propolis group than the placebo group, even after adjustment for baseline value and changes in weight, energy intake, and physical activity (odds ratio [OR] 5.67; 95% confidence intervals [CI] 1.41-22.8; p = .014). A significant reduction was observed on the liver stiffness in the propolis group (-0.65 ± 0.56 kPa; p = .001), whereas it increased in the placebo group (0.27 ± 0.59 kPa; p = .037). Also, the intake of propolis significantly decreased high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) levels compared with the placebo group (-0.371; 95%CI -0.582 to -0.16 mg/L; p = .01). Changes in serum levels of fasting blood sugar, alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, cholesterol, and triglyceride did not differ significantly between the two groups (p > .05). These 16 cases were identified by mining Centogene and the Hong Kong clinical genetic service databases. Collectively, the 49 postnatally diagnosed individuals present with typical facial features and developmental delay, while the three prenatally diagnosed individuals present with multiple congenital anomalies. In the current study, the use of exome sequencing as an unbiased diagnostic tool aided the diagnosis of SHS (pre- and postnatally). The identification of additional cases with SHS add to the current understanding of the clinical phenotype associated with pathogenic PACS1 variants.

Compared with hot start, a cold start followed by warming-up process has a significant impact on PN emissions over all test cycles and different test cycles show diverse sensitivity to the change of start-up conditions. The particles with a diameter of 5.6-23 nm (sub-23 nm) account for 43.1-57.7% of the total PN emission quantity for China V standard GDI vehicle, which is about 5-15% higher than that of theoretical assumptions.     The study included 26 female rats which were divided into 3 groups. The sham group, consisting 10 rats, (Group 1) only received solely laparotomy. In the control group, consisting 8 rats, (Group 2), ligation was applied to the biliary tract and no treatment was implemented. In the treatment group, consisting 8 rats, (Group 3), following ligation of biliary tract, 0.5 ml/day ABS was given for 10 days. Liver tissue and blood samples were taken for histopathological and biochemical examination.

    Compared to group 2, group 3 had higher aspartate aminotransferase (AST), total oxidant status (TOS) malondialdehyde (MDA), fluorescent oxidant products (FOP) and lower expression of albumine and total antioxidant status (TAS) (p<0.05). In histopathological analysis, the mean scores of all histopathological parameters (fibrosis, portal inflammation, confluent necrosis, interphase activity, bile duct proliferation) have statistical significance between group 2 and group 3 (p<0.05).

    To investigate the utility of preoperative serum cancer antigen 125 (CA 125) levels in type 1 endometrial carcinoma (EC) as a marker for determining poor prognostic factors and survival.

    All patients with endometrial cancer, who had been treated between 2012 and 2020, were retrospectively reviewed, and finally, 256 patients with type 1 endometrium carcinoma were included in the study. The relationship between the clinicopathological characteristics, CA 125 level, and survival rates were analyzed. The cut-off value for the preoperative serum CA 125 level was defined as 16 IU/L.

    The median serum CA 125 levels were significantly higher in patients with deep myometrial invasion, lymph node metastasis, lymphovascular space invasion, cervical stromal and adnexal involvement, advanced stage, positive peritoneal cytology, recurrence, and adjuvant therapy requirement. Serum CA 125 cut-off values determined according to clinicopathologic factors ranged from 15.3 to 22.9 IU/L (sensitivity 61%–77%, specificity 52%–73%). The disease-specific survival rate was significantly higher in patients with CA 125 levels < 16 IU/L (P = 0.047).

We argue that their review provides political scientists and healthcare scholars with a firm basis to further explore the relationships between populism and welfare policies in different political systems. In line with the authors, we furthermore (re)emphasize the need for additional empirical inquiries into the relationship between populism and healthcare. But instead of expanding the research agenda suggested - for instance by adding categories or niches in which this relationship can be observed - we would like to challenge some of the premises of the studies conducted and reviewed thus far. While involving the food industry in certain aspects of the policy process without favouring their business goals may seem like an intractable problem, we believe there are opportunities for progress that do not compromise our values as public health professionals. In this commentary we reflect on this finding and the arguments for and against interacting with the food industry during different stages of the policy process. While involving the food industry in certain aspects of the policy process without favouring their business goals may seem like an intractable problem, we believe there are opportunities for progress that do not compromise our values as public health professionals. We suggest three key steps to making progress.
