Further, the LIT leak parameter is shown to be better at explaining the speed/accuracy trade-off manipulation than the commonly used boundary separation parameter. These improvements can also be verified using traditional diffusion model analyses, for which the LIT predicts the violation of several common selective parameter influence assumptions. These predictions are consistent with what is found in the data and with what is reported experimentally in the literature. Crucially, this work offers a new benchmark against which to compare neural data to offer neurobiological validation for the proposed processes. In both groups, trainees were taught to use Support, rather than Demand, for managing ambivalence and resistance, with the DP group having more feedback and practice. In this study, 68 trainees interviewed both an ambivalent community volunteer and an ambivalent simulator 4 month post workshop. The DP group was found to exhibit significantly fewer Demand behaviors than the Traditional group, with the latter also being significantly quicker to use Demand in the interviews. Moreover, the simulator evoked significantly greater Demand from therapists, regardless of the Training group, suggesting the simulators were more resistant. Although therapist use of Support was equal for community volunteers across training groups, Traditional workshop trainees decreased Support when interviewing the more resistant simulators, whereas DP trainees increased their Support with this same group. This is consistent with findings that DP trainees were more appropriately responsive, making fewer Demands following interviewee counterchange talk and using more Support at these times. These results provide some initial validation of the simplified therapist behavior coding system and offer further evidence for the benefits of DP workshop training for managing resistance. AEDP theory and its empirical support are described; interventions used throughout termination are demonstrated with verbatim clinical exchanges; and potential challenges faced during termination are addressed. Congruent with AEDP's healing orientation, termination is reframed as completion and launching Although treatment ends, the change process begun in therapy can continue, as does the therapist's care for the patient. AEDP interventions during termination include (a) relational strategies to foster connection and undo aloneness; (b) the highlighting of patient resilience and the celebration of growth; (c) affirmative work with defenses around loss; (d) coregulation of patient's emotional experience; (e) experiential, bodily-rooted affective strategies to process and transform negative emotions; and (f) thorough exploration and processing of ensuing, vitalizing positive emotions and in-session experiences of change-for-the-better (i.e., metatherapeutic processing), to expand these and promote enhanced well-being and flourishing. Therapists aim to (a) elicit and process emotions related to the completion of treatment; (b) celebrate patients' affective achievements; and (c) convey trust and confidence in an ongoing transformational process, predicted to yield not only diminishment of symptoms and suffering but also upward spirals of flourishing. AEDP suggests that in providing patients a new, positive attachment experience of togetherness as therapy ends, termination offers a unique opportunity to disconfirm patients' earlier attachment-based expectations, revise inner working models, and help patients grow in self-confidence as they face, accept, and thrive in the wake of loss.   • Cancer stem cells (CSCs) present chemo-resistance mechanisms contributing to tumour maintenance and recurrence, making their targeting of utmost importance in gastric cancer (GC) therapy. The Hippo pathway has been implicated in gastric CSC properties and was shown to be regulated by leukaemia inhibitory factor receptor (LIFR) and its ligand LIF in breast cancer. This study aimed to determine LIF's effect on CSC properties in GC cell lines and patient-derived xenograft (PDX) cells, which remains unexplored. LIF's treatment effect on CSC markers expression and tumoursphere formation was evaluated. The Hippo kinase inhibitor XMU-MP-1 and/or the JAK1 inhibitor Ruxolitinib were used to determine Hippo and canonical JAK/STAT pathway involvement in gastric CSCs' response to LIF. Results indicate that LIF decreased tumorigenic and chemo-resistant CSCs, in both GC cell lines and PDX cells. In addition, LIF increased activation of LATS1/2 Hippo kinases, thereby decreasing downstream YAP/TAZ nuclear accumulation and TEAD transcriptional activity. LIF's anti-CSC effect was reversed by XMU-MP-1 but not by Ruxolitinib treatment, highlighting the opposite effects of these two pathways downstream LIFR. In conclusion, LIF displays anti-CSC properties in GC, through Hippo kinases activation, and could in fine constitute a new CSCs-targeting strategy to help decrease relapse cases and bad prognosis in GC.Since the discovery of high-temperature superconductivity, significant progress in the fabrication of REBCO-based (Rare Earth Barium Copper mixed Oxides) thin-films superconductors has been achieved. In our review, we described the approaches and possibilities of the improvement of superconducting properties by the introduction of nanosized pinning centers. We focused on the synthesis and viability of the material for artificial pinning centers and methods used for the introduction of the pinning centers into superconducting REBCO-based thin-films. This article summarizes available materials and procedures regardless of the financial cost of the individual method. According to available literature, the most significant superconducting REBCO tapes can be obtained when a combination of 1D and 0D nanoparticles are used for nanoscale pinning.Coccidioidomycosis, also known as Valley fever, has been reported among military personnel in Coccidioides-endemic areas of the southwestern United States since World War II. In this study, the prevalence of Coccidioides was confirmed in different soil and dust samples collected near three military bases in California using DNA extraction and Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) methods. Analyses of physical and chemical parameters revealed no significant differences between Coccidioides-positive and -negative sites. Soil samples collected in the Mojave Desert (near Twentynine Palms MCAGCC) showed the highest percentage of Coccidioides-positive soil and dust samples. Samples from the San Joaquin Valley (near NAS Lemoore) showed the lowest percentage of positive samples and were restricted to remnants of semi-natural areas between agricultural fields. Our results suggest that soil disturbance around all three military bases investigated poses a potential Coccidioides exposure risk for military personnel and the public. We conclude that once lands have been severely disturbed from their original state, they become less suitable for Coccidioides growth. We propose a conceptual framework for understanding exposure where disturbance of soils that exhibit natural or remnants of native vegetation (Creosote and Salt Bush) generate a high risk of exposure to the pathogen, likely during dry periods. In contrast, Coccidioides-positive sites, when undisturbed, will not pose a high risk of exposure.Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) and vancomycin-resistant Enterococci (VRE) have emerged as multidrug-resistant (MDR) pathogens associated with periprosthetic joint infections (PJI). In this study, we evaluated the efficacy of antibiotic-loaded calcium sulfate beads (ALCSB) in inhibiting bacterial growth, encouraging biofilm formation and killing preformed biofilms of CRE and VRE. Three strains of Klebsiella pneumoniae (KP) and a strain of Enterococcus faecalis (EF) were used. ALCSB of 4.8-mm diameter were loaded with vancomycin (V) and gentamicin (G), V and rifampicin (R), V and tobramycin (T) or R and meropenem (M), and placed onto tryptic soy agar (TSA), spread with one of the test strains and incubated for 24 h at 37 °C. Beads were transferred daily onto fresh TSA spread plates and the zone of inhibition (ZOI) was recorded until no inhibition was observed. ALCSB containing R + M or R + V produced the most extensive ZOI up to 5 weeks. Biofilm prevention efficacy was investigated by challenging ALCSB daily with 5 × 105 CFU/mL bacterial cells and analyzing for biofilm formation at challenges 1, 2 and 3. In the biofilm killing experiments, ALCSB were added to pre-grown 3-day biofilms of KP and EF strains, which were then analyzed at days 1 and 3 post-exposure. The CFU counts and confocal images of the attached cells showed that ALCSB treatment reduced colonization and biofilm formation significantly (5-7 logs) with combinations of R + M or R + V, compared to unloaded beads.   • The potential of collagens to release biopeptides was evaluated using the BIOPEP-UWM-implemented quantitative criteria including the frequency of the release of fragments with a given activity by selected enzyme(s) (AE), relative frequency of release of fragments with a given activity by selected enzyme(s) (W), and the theoretical degree of hydrolysis (DHt). ***, pig, sheep, chicken, duck, horse, salmon, rainbow trout, goat, rabbit, and turkey collagens were theoretically hydrolyzed using stem bromelain, ficin, papain, pepsin, trypsin, chymotrypsin, pepsin+trypsin, and pepsin+trypsin+chymotrypsin. Peptides released from the collagens having comparable AE and W were estimated for their likelihood to be bioactive using PeptideRanker Score. The collagens tested were the best sources of angiotensin I-converting enzyme (ACE) and dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPP-IV) inhibitors. AE and W values revealed that pepsin and/or trypsin were effective producers of such peptides from the majority of the collagens examined. Then, the SwissTargetPrediction program was used to estimate the possible interactions of such peptides with enzymes and proteins, whereas ADMETlab was applied to evaluate their safety and drug-likeness properties. Target prediction revealed that the collagen-derived peptides might interact with several human proteins, especially proteinases, but with relatively low probability. It has been reported that osteocytes express Receptor activator of nuclear factor κΒ ligand (RANKL), an essential factor for osteoclast formation. RANKL secreted by osteocytes is the most important factor for physiologically supported osteoclast formation in the developing skeleton and in pathological bone resorption such as experimental periodontal bone loss. TNF-α directly enhances RANKL expression in osteocytes and promotes osteoclast formation. Moreover, TNF-α enhances sclerostin expression in osteocytes, which also increases osteoclast formation. These findings suggest that osteocyte-related cytokines act directly to enhance osteoclast formation and bone resorption. Hierarchical organization of riverine systems is supposed to reflect the genetic structure of populations inhabiting them.     The potential of collagens to release biopeptides was evaluated using the BIOPEP-UWM-implemented quantitative criteria including the frequency of the release of fragments with a given activity by selected enzyme(s) (AE), relative frequency of release of fragments with a given activity by selected enzyme(s) (W), and the theoretical degree of hydrolysis (DHt). Cow, pig, sheep, chicken, duck, horse, salmon, rainbow trout, goat, rabbit, and turkey collagens were theoretically hydrolyzed using stem bromelain, ficin, papain, pepsin, trypsin, chymotrypsin, pepsin+trypsin, and pepsin+trypsin+chymotrypsin. Peptides released from the collagens having comparable AE and W were estimated for their likelihood to be bioactive using PeptideRanker Score. The collagens tested were the best sources of angiotensin I-converting enzyme (ACE) and dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPP-IV) inhibitors. AE and W values revealed that pepsin and/or trypsin were effective producers of such peptides from the majority of the collagens examined. Then, the SwissTargetPrediction program was used to estimate the possible interactions of such peptides with enzymes and proteins, whereas ADMETlab was applied to evaluate their safety and drug-likeness properties. This system was utilized to monitor gas levels continuously in the working atmosphere of an incineration plant over a 2-month period. The results show that stable and long-term continuous data transfer was enabled by LoRaWAN, which proved useful for detecting rapid changes in gas levels. However, it was observed that raw data from the low-cost sensors did not meet the NIOSH accuracy criteria of ± 25% of the estimated true concentration based on field data from a co-located gas detector that met the NIOSH accuracy criteria. The new IoT technologies and CO sensor networks shows potential for remote monitoring of exposure in order to (1) detect rapid changes in CO and other possible hazardous airborne gases; and (2) show the dynamic range of real-time data that may be hazardous for workers in the sampled areas. While the IoT low-cost sensors appear to be useful as a sentinel for monitoring hazardous atmospheres containing CO, the more useful finding may be showing real-time changes and the dynamic range of exposures, thus shedding light on the transient and toxic nature of airborne hazards. Methane and VOC emissions followed a skewed distribution, with many wells having zero or low emissions and a few wells responsible for the majority of emissions. The average CH4 emission rate from marginal wells was 128 g h-1 (median 18 g h-1; range 0- 907 g h-1). Follow-up measurements at five wells indicated high emissions were not episodic. Some wells were emitting all or more of the reported gas produced at each well, or venting gas from wells with no reported gas production. Measurements were made from wellheads only, not tanks, so our estimates may be conservative. Stochastic processes such as maintenance may be the main driver of emissions. Marginal wells are a disproportionate source of CH4 and VOCs relative to oil and gas production.     The authors searched four electronic databases through August 2019 to identify randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that assessed the effect of VitD intervention on serum lipids among PCOS patients. Mean differences were generated for statistical evaluation.

    We included eight studies and performed nine comparisons across 467 participants. VitD supplementation reduced serum triglyceride levels (-11.88 mg/dL; 95% confidence interval [CI] -17.03 to -6.73), total cholesterol (-9.09 mg/dL; 95% CI -14.90 to -3.29), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (-5.22 mg/dL; 95% CI -10.32 to -0.13), and very-low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (-2.43 mg/dL; 95% CI -3.69 to -1.

  • A compound's acidity constant (Ka) in a given medium determines its protonation state and, thus, its behavior and physicochemical properties. Therefore, it is among the key characteristics considered during the design of new compounds for the needs of advanced technology, medicine, and biological research, a notable example being pH sensors. The computational prediction of Ka for weak acids and bases in homogeneous solvents is presently rather well developed. However, it is not the case for more complex media, such as microheterogeneous solutions. The constant-pH molecular dynamics (MD) method is a notable contribution to the solution of the problem, but it is not commonly used. Here, we develop an approach for predicting Ka changes of weak small-molecule acids upon transfer from water to colloid solutions by means of traditional classical molecular dynamics. The approach is based on free energy (ΔG) computations and requires limited experiment data input during calibration. It was successfully tested on a series of pH-sensitive acid-base indicator dyes in micellar solutions of surfactants. The difficulty of finite-size effects affecting ΔG computation between states with different total charges is taken into account by evaluating relevant corrections; their impact on the results is discussed, and it is found non-negligible (0.1-0.4 pKa units). A marked bias is found in the ΔG values of acid deprotonation, as computed from MD, which is apparently caused by force-field issues. It is hypothesized to affect the constant-pH MD and reaction ensemble MD methods as well. Bringing together different insights from almost 2 decades of development and testing, we present the next-generation nonlocal correlation functional called vdW-DF3, in which we change the functional form while staying true to the original design philosophy. Although many popular functionals show good performance around the binding separation of van der Waals complexes, they often result in significant errors at larger separations. With vdW-DF3, we address this problem by taking advantage of a recently uncovered and largely unconstrained degree of freedom within the vdW-DF framework that can be constrained through empirical input, making our functional semiempirical. For two different parameterizations, we benchmark vdW-DF3 against a large set of well-studied test cases and compare our results with the most popular functionals, finding good performance in general for a wide array of systems and a significant improvement in accuracy at larger separations.     A compound's acidity constant (Ka) in a given medium determines its protonation state and, thus, its behavior and physicochemical properties. Therefore, it is among the key characteristics considered during the design of new compounds for the needs of advanced technology, medicine, and biological research, a notable example being pH sensors. The computational prediction of Ka for weak acids and bases in homogeneous solvents is presently rather well developed. However, it is not the case for more complex media, such as microheterogeneous solutions. The constant-pH molecular dynamics (MD) method is a notable contribution to the solution of the problem, but it is not commonly used. Here, we develop an approach for predicting Ka changes of weak small-molecule acids upon transfer from water to colloid solutions by means of traditional classical molecular dynamics. The approach is based on free energy (ΔG) computations and requires limited experiment data input during calibration. It was successfully tested on a series of pH-sensitive acid-base indicator dyes in micellar solutions of surfactants. The difficulty of finite-size effects affecting ΔG computation between states with different total charges is taken into account by evaluating relevant corrections; their impact on the results is discussed, and it is found non-negligible (0.1-0.4 pKa units). A marked bias is found in the ΔG values of acid deprotonation, as computed from MD, which is apparently caused by force-field issues. With vdW-DF3, we address this problem by taking advantage of a recently uncovered and largely unconstrained degree of freedom within the vdW-DF framework that can be constrained through empirical input, making our functional semiempirical. For two different parameterizations, we benchmark vdW-DF3 against a large set of well-studied test cases and compare our results with the most popular functionals, finding good performance in general for a wide array of systems and a significant improvement in accuracy at larger separations. However, the molecular mechanism of the transcriptional regulation of fatty acid accumulation and lipid synthesis in the mesocarp of oil palm by up- or downregulating the expression of genes involved in related pathways remains largely unknown. Here, an oil palm MADS-box gene, EgMADS21, was screened in a yeast one-hybrid assay using the EgDGAT2 promoter sequence as bait. EgMADS21 is preferentially expressed in early mesocarp developmental stages in oil palm fruit and presents a negative correlation with EgDGAT2 expression. The direct binding of EgMADS21 to the EgDGAT2 promoter was confirmed by electrophoretic mobility shift assay. Subsequently, transient expression of EgMADS21 in oil palm protoplasts revealed that EgMADS21 not only binds to the EgDGAT2 promoter but also negatively regulates the expression of EgDGAT2.     All patients who underwent DSM for spontaneous intracranial hypotension (SIH) refractory to blood patching from Dec 2016 - Sept 2019 were retrospectively assessed. DSM dose factors were then recorded (cumulative fluoroscopy time, total kerma area product (KAP, mGy.cm2), cumulative air kerma (mGy), as well as CTM dose factors (included CTDIvol (mGy) and dose-length product (DLP, mGy.cm). These indices were then used to calculate the effective dose for both procedures using standardized conversion factors.

However, many did not apply relevantly good communication skills such as seeking information about concomitant drugs (42.5%) or providing advice on managing any adverse side effects of taking NSAIDs (39.1%). Most of the community pharmacists also did not provide relevantly good communication about risk factors. The most common screening risk factors mentioned were a history of pregnancy and breastfeeding (84.2%) followed by being at an older age (74.5%) or a history of a gastrointestinal ulcer (71.5%).

    Community pharmacists in Saudi Arabia need to appropriately screen their patients for adverse drug reactions and the ectively communicate the risks of using NSAIDs. The Saudi Regulatory Authority could endorse several approaches to apply a good strategy for improving the dispensing practices in community pharmacies, communication and awareness of risk factors especially in high-risk patients who are taking NSAIDs.

    To explore physicians' and nurses' perceptions and attitudes toward sickle cell patients in Jazan, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).

    A cross-sectional study conducted in Jazan, KSA from November 2018 to March 2019. A convenience sample of nurses and physicians (N=244) from 12 hospitals in Jazan region completed the general perceptions about sickle cell disease patients scale questionnaire. Inferential statistics were conducted as appropriate to compare attitudes among groups within all variables. A p less than0.05 was considered significant.

    The response rate was 81%. The mean age was 33.73±7.89 years. Approximately, half of the participants were nurses (54.9%) and 40.8% were males. In comparison with physicians (39.6%), approximately two-thirds (65.7%) of nurses have more negative attitudes (p=0.000). Emergency healthcare providers have more negative attitudes than providers in the pediatric department (p=0.043). Those treating primarily children had higher positive attitude than those treating adults (p= in the management of sickle cell disease.

    In this case-control study, the messenger ribonucleic acids were isolated from the blood of 62 CRC patients who were recruited from King Abdulaziz University Hospital Oncology Clinic and 46 controlsfrom King Fahad General Hospital Blood Bank (Jeddah, Saudi Arabia) from September 2016 to March 2017. The Biomedical Ethics Unit at King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia approved this study. The expressions of ABC transporters were measured using quantitative polymerase chain reaction. GraphPad Prism 5 and REST 2009 Software were used to correlate the expressions with clinicopathological independent stages and body mass index. A p-value of less than 0.05 was considered significant.

    The results showed that the 3 ABC transporters, particularly ABCC1 (p less than0.0001), were highly expressed in the blood of CRC patients compared with controls. However, none of the 3 transporters was related to the progression of CRC, age, gender, or body mass index.

    This is part of a cross-sectional study carried out in 2020 in a Saudi population in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). We used an online questionnaire to evaluate the most common seizure trigger factors.

    A total of 546 Saudi patients with epilepsy participated in the study, of which 289 (53%) were women. Of them, 263 (48.1%) had no seizure in the previous 3 months. One hundred and thirty-six (25%) had a family member with epilepsy. The most-reported trigger factor was sleep deprivation reported by 285 (52%), followed by stress 225 (41%), missed medication 210 (38.5%), anxiety 209 (38.3%), and fatigue 184 (33.7%).Conclusions Sleep deprivation is the most reported trigger factor for seizures in the KSA, followed by stress, followed by missed medication.

The Saudi Regulatory Authority could endorse several approaches to apply a good strategy for improving the dispensing practices in community pharmacies, communication and awareness of risk factors especially in high-risk patients who are taking NSAIDs. To explore physicians' and nurses' perceptions and attitudes toward sickle cell patients in Jazan, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). A cross-sectional study conducted in Jazan, KSA from November 2018 to March 2019. A convenience sample of nurses and physicians (N=244) from 12 hospitals in Jazan region completed the general perceptions about sickle cell disease patients scale questionnaire. Inferential statistics were conducted as appropriate to compare attitudes among groups within all variables. A p less than0.05 was considered significant. The response rate was 81%. The mean age was 33.73±7.89 years. Approximately, half of the participants were nurses (54.9%) and 40.8% were males. In comparison with physicians (39.6%), approximately two-thirds (65.7%) of nurses have more negative attitudes (p=0.000). Emergency healthcare providers have more negative attitudes than providers in the pediatric department (p=0.043). To identify epilepsy triggers prevalent in Saudi Arabia with a view to seizure prevention or achieving a reduction in their frequency. This is part of a cross-sectional study carried out in 2020 in a Saudi population in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). We used an online questionnaire to evaluate the most common seizure trigger factors. A total of 546 Saudi patients with epilepsy participated in the study, of which 289 (53%) were women. Of them, 263 (48.1%) had no seizure in the previous 3 months. One hundred and thirty-six (25%) had a family member with epilepsy. The most-reported trigger factor was sleep deprivation reported by 285 (52%), followed by stress 225 (41%), missed medication 210 (38.5%), anxiety 209 (38.3%), and fatigue 184 (33.7%).Conclusions Sleep deprivation is the most reported trigger factor for seizures in the KSA, followed by stress, followed by missed medication.     The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a critical disruption in the music and performing arts industry, and affected singers and other artists. This study was designed to examine the effect of this unique time on artistic voice users, the way they perceive their voice and their voice-related behaviors.

    A total of 110 participants volunteered for the study 57 professional artistic voice users (34 singers and 19 actors) and a control group of 53 nonprofessional voice users. All participants completed three questionnaires related to their self-assessment of their voice, their voice difficulties, vocal training, and current stress in the time of the COVID-19 pandemic.

    Compared to the controls, artistic voice users were more concerned about their voice (P < 0.001), practiced their voice more often (P < 0.001), and experienced more anxiety and stress (P < 0.05). In addition, within the professional group, singers reported practicing their voice in the time of the COVID-19 significantly more than actors (P < 0.01).

    Cadaveric donor liver graft retrieval is complex in Mexico. The aim of the present article was to present the experience in liver graft use during the first year of work of a local evaluation and procurement team.

    We reviewed the organ donation report forms and allocation offer records covering the time frame of December 15, 2017 to December 15, 2018, and registered the donor characteristics, causes of organ discard, causes of declined offers, transport time, and graft and recipient survival at 30 days.

    There were 17 donations and we completed the evaluation of 14. Two donors were considered ideal (14.2%) and 12 were expanded criteria donors (ECDs) (85.7%). Two grafts with steatosis were not offered (14.2%). Twelve liver grafts were offered 88 times (mean 7.6 offers per graft). The acceptance rate was 6% for public hospitals and 23.6% for private hospitals (P=0.016). One graft was discarded during the procurement process due to steatosis. The rate of use after evaluation was 78.5% (11/14). All the grafts were procured by the local team and 9 (81.8%) were transported by commercial airline (median 240min, range 85min). Graft and recipient survival at 30 days was 100%.

Revenue allocated for wellness projects averaged $13,171 annually for each local community, with over 99% successfully disbursed and more rural areas generating significantly less revenue. Revenue decreased in absolute value by 3.2% in 2017, 1.2% in 2018, and 4.6% in 2019, a significant downward trend (P = .02). Revenue allocated for wellness projects averaged $13,171 annually for each local community, with over 99% successfully disbursed and more rural areas generating significantly less revenue. Our results provide context on expected revenue, decreases over time, and feasibility for tribal and rural communities considering similar policies.

    The aims of this study were to examine the requests for influenza molecular tests processed by the Virology Laboratory of the University Hospital of Udine during the 2018-19 influenza season and to assess the test results and to estimate costs.

    We analyzed various administrative databases of the hospital health information system, which can be deterministically linked at the individual level through an anonymous stochastic key. Requests for influenza molecular tests from November 1, 2018, to April 15, 2019, and test results were described by week and, for hospitalized patients, hospital ward. Previous vaccination status of tested patients, outcomes and estimated test costs were assessed.

    In the 2018-19 influenza season, 979 influenza A and B virologic tests were processed by the laboratory, corresponding to 758 patients. Requests had more than doubled compared with the previous influenza season. Rapid real-time PCR tests, routinely available at the University Hospital of Udine since January 2019, represented 17% of requests. Six hundred forty-eight patients were hospitalized. Medical wards requested the test after a median of 1 day after admission, whereas requests were delayed for surgical and oncologic patients. The number of tests, proportion of positivity and consumption of rapid tests varied by medical specialty. Overall consumption of oseltamivir was similar to that of the previous influenza season.

This short communication aims to provide an overview of the measures taken by the Malaysian Government in response to Covid-19, and of the effectiveness of the Movement Control Order.

    This short communication reviews articles and government announcements related to containment measures and theMovement Control Order of Malaysia, and graphically presents data pertinent to Covid-19 in Malaysia in order to show the relationship between fluctuations in Covid-19 cases and movement control.

    At the onset of the Covid-19 outbreak, Malaysia had initiated travel restrictions and quarantine; but with a persistent increase in new Covid-19 cases, the Movement Control Order was finally rolled out on 18 March 2020, requiring closure of all businesses except those providing essential services and items. Enforcement of the order was tightened progressively, resulting in significant improvement of compliance, while other interventions such as tracking of potential contacts and medical screening were underway, and the media continued to provide updates and general advices. The numbers of new and active Covid-19 cases started showing evident downtrends from mid-April, thus indicating the effectiveness of movement control and its compliance.

    Since December 2019, the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) epidemic has swept the world, causing widespread burden and increasingly hospitalizations. Researchers from around the world have tried to study the virus and its effect with more precision in various fields. The purpose of this study is to identify levels of anxiety and depression with regard to precautionary for prevention of COVID-19, and to identify the relationship between demographic variables and both depression and anxiety.

    This was a descriptive cross-sectional study; data were collected by questionnaire via a mobile phone application in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq from 25 March, 2020 to 5 April, 2020. The sample size was 894 after deleting 20 cases because of duplication. The questionnaire consists of three main parts; part one is related to the sociodemographic characteristics of participants, the second and third parts consist of items related to depression and anxiety about COVID-19 using a 5-point Likert Scale (1 = of course no, 2nt association between gender and depression and anxiety, while there was no significant association between occupation and income, and depression and anxiety.

The final questionnaire was composed of four parts asking for the background information, questions about the stress caused by the COVID-19, the Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale - 21 (DASS-21), and six questions from the Copenhagen Burnout Inventory (CBI).

    The CVR of 46 questions was equal to 1, making them acceptably valid (CVR > 0.78), so that the items could be arranged into a final questionnaire.     We included 8977 adults with obesity who used the digital Foodsmart platform, created by Zipongo, Inc, DBA Foodsmart between January 2013 and April 2020. We retrospectively analyzed user characteristics and their associations with weight loss(OR 1.02, 95% CI 1.02-1.03; P<.001), baseline Healthy Diet Score (OR 1.06, 95% CI 1.05-1.08; P<.001), greater change in Healthy Diet Score (OR 1.12, 95% CI 1.11-1.14; P<.001), and enrollment length (OR 1.28, 95% CI 1.23-1.32; P<.001) were all significantly associated with higher odds of achieving at least 5% weight loss.
