The effectiveness of a pathway with quality of life (QoL) diagnosis and therapy has been already demonstrated in an earlier randomized trial (RCT) in patients with breast cancer. We refined the pathway by developing and evaluating an electronic tool for QoL assessment in routine inpatient and outpatient care.
In a single-arm study, patients with breast cancer with surgical treatment in two German hospitals were enrolled. QoL (EORTC QLQ-C30, QLQ-BR23) was measured with an electronic tool after surgery and during aftercare in outpatient medical practices (3, 6, 9, 12, 18, and 24months) so that results (QoL-profile) were available immediately. Feedback by patients and physicians was analyzed to evaluate feasibility and impact on patient-physician communication.
Between May 2016 and July 2018, 56 patients were enrolled. Physicians evaluated the QoL pathway as feasible. Patients whose physician regularly discussed QoL-profiles with them reported significantly more often that their specific needs were cared for (p < .001) and that their physician had found the right treatment strategy for these needs (p < .001) compared with patients whose doctor never/rarely discussed QoL-profiles. The latter significantly more often had no benefit from QoL assessments (p < .001).
The QoL pathway with electronic QoL assessments is feasible for inpatient and outpatient care. QoL results should be discussed directly with the patient.

A personalized risk model (PRM) that can categorize patients into high or low risk of ≥ grade 2 acute and/or delayed chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) was previously developed. The current study assessed whether the PMR could accurately stratify patients' risk for other commonly used CINV endpoints.
Data was pooled from a previously reported trial evaluating CINV in patients with breast cancer (**) receiving neo/adjuvant anthracycline-cyclophosphamide or carboplatin-based chemotherapy. The predictive ability of the PRM was compared to patient experience of any self-reported significant nausea, any vomiting, complete cycle response, and use of rescue medications, over all cycles of chemotherapy.
Data was available from 242 patients over 819 chemotherapy cycles. Irrespective of the chosen antiemetics, significant nausea was common when evaluated across repeated cycles of treatment with an overall incidence of 24.2% in low-risk patients and 34.6% in high-risk patients. Patients identified as high risk of CINV using the PRM were 4.73 (p = 0.011) times more likely to develop significant nausea than those identified as low risk. The PRM did not show any significant statistical differences between both groups in overall vomiting, complete cycle response, or rescue medications use.
The PRM was able to identify patients at greater risk of significant nausea but not the other CINV endpoints. As nausea remains a pertinent issue for patients with **, the PRM could be used to identify these patients a priori for innovative treatment strategies.

Despite advances in supportive care, cancer-related symptoms tend to be persistent regardless of cancer type, stage of disease, or treatment received. There is an increasing prescription for complementary and alternative medicines, such as medical cannabis (**). Knowledge and attitudes of Italian medical oncologists and palliative care physicians toward medical cannabis in cancer care remain unknown.
We conducted a cross-sectional study to investigate the knowledge and attitude toward ** prescription among cancer care professionals in Italy. All invited participants received an email with the electronic questionnaire accessible through a direct link.
Among the 2616 members who received the invitation, 475 replied to the questionnaire and were considered for the survey analysis. The most prescribed formulations among those available in Italy were cannabis FM2. The most frequent clinical indications for the use of ** were pain, gastrointestinal, and mood disorders. Only 9 responders reported **-related sis' beliefs and predispositions, resulting in a robust science-based ** practice. Only through coordinated interventions on science and health policy of **, there will be success of safety and efficacy, ensuring the best knowledge for the best outcomes.

We designed an EM-based approach, which can be directly applied to the experimental data without data classification and division into training and test observations. This approach performs well even when the sample size is small and when the unfolding transitions are characterized by overlapping force ranges.Using polarization-resolved Raman spectroscopy, we investigate layer number, temperature, and magnetic field dependence of Raman spectra in one- to four-layer CrI3. Layer-number-dependent Raman spectra show that in the paramagnetic phase a doubly degenerated Eg mode of monolayer CrI3 splits into one Ag and one Bg mode in N-layer (N > 1) CrI3 due to the monoclinic stacking. Their energy separation increases in thicker samples until an eventual saturation. Temperature-dependent measurements further show that the split modes tend to merge upon cooling but remain separated until 10 K, indicating a failed attempt of the monoclinic-to-rhombohedral structural phase transition that is present in the bulk crystal. Magnetic-field-dependent measurements reveal an additional monoclinic distortion across the magnetic-field-induced layered antiferromagnetism-to-ferromagnetism phase transition. We propose a structural change that consists of both a lateral sliding toward the rhombohedral stacking and a decrease in the interlayer distance to explain our experimental observations.Conductive metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have a wide range of applications in supercapacitors, electrocatalysts, and fuel cells, while gas-driven conductive MOFs have not yet been synthesized so far. Herein, we report a gas-driven conductive MOF (A) constructed from calix[4]resorcinarene macrocycle and Co(II) cations, which shows the conductivity enhancement by about eight orders of magnitude through NO2 adsorption. The conductivities of MOF A before and after the adsorption of NO2 were calculated to be about 1.3 × 10-11 and 8.4 × 10-4 S/cm, respectively. MOF A realizes the conversion from an insulator to a conductor by adsorbing NO2. When NO2 is evacuated, MOF A quickly changes from a conductor **** to an insulator in 42 s. In the crystal structure of NO2-adsorbed MOF (termed as A-NO2), NO2 molecule connects Co(II) and uncoordinated carboxylate groups through hydrogen-bonding interactions to form a conductive pathway, greatly reducing the electron transmission distance between each two metal clusters. In addition, NO2 molecule and H3O+ may also form a conductive pathway by hydrogen-bonding interactions. This work presents an interesting macrocycle-based MOF with a NO2-driven on/off conductivity switch, proving the possibility for designing advanced gas-driven conductive systems.Synthetic microbial cocultures carry enormous potential for applied biotechnology and are increasingly the subject of fundamental research. So far, most cocultures have been designed and characterized based on bulk cultivations without considering the potentially highly heterogeneous and diverse single-cell behavior. However, an in-depth understanding of cocultures including their interacting single cells is indispensable for the development of novel cultivation approaches and control of cocultures. We present the development, validation, and experimental characterization of an optochemically controllable bacterial coculture on a microcolony level consisting of two Corynebacterium glutamicum strains. Our coculture combines an l-lysine auxotrophic strain together with a l-lysine-producing variant carrying the genetically IPTG-mediated induction of l-lysine production. We implemented two control approaches utilizing IPTG as inducer molecule. First, unmodified IPTG was supplemented to the culture enabling a medium-based control of the production of l-lysine, which serves as the main interacting component. Second, optochemical control was successfully performed by utilizing photocaged IPTG activated by appropriate illumination. Both control strategies were validated studying cellular growth on a microcolony level. The novel microfluidic single-cell cultivation strategies applied in this work can serve as a blueprint to validate cellular control strategies of synthetic mono- and cocultures with single-cell resolution at defined environmental conditions.CD44 is a transmembrane glycoprotein that can regulate the oncogenic process. This is known to be a marker of the claudin-low subtype of breast cancer, as well as a cancer stem cell marker. However, its functional regulatory roles are poorly understood in claudin-low breast cancer. To gain comprehensive insight into the function of CD44, we performed an in-depth tandem mass tag-based proteomic analysis of two claudin-low breast cancer cell lines (MDA-MB-231 and Hs 578T) transfected with CD44 siRNA. As a result, we observed that 2736 proteins were upregulated and 2172 proteins were downregulated in CD44-knockdown MDA-MB-231 cells. For Hs 578T CD44-knockdown cells, 412 proteins were upregulated and 443 were downregulated. Gene ontology and network analyses demonstrated that the suppression of this marker mediates significant functional alterations related to oncogenic cellular processes, including proliferation, metabolism, adhesion, and gene expression regulation. A functional study confirmed that CD44 knockdown inhibited proliferation by regulating the expression of genes related to cell cycle, translation, and transcription. Moreover, this promoted the expression of multiple cell adhesion-associated proteins and attenuated cancer cell migration. Finally, our proteomic study defines the landscape of the CD44-regulated proteome of claudin-low breast cancer cells, revealing changes that mediate cell proliferation and migration. Notably, compound 3e [dehydroabietyl-(1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl)-5-nitrothiophene-2-carboxamide] exhibited excellent antifungal property against F. oxysporum with an EC50 of 0.618 mg/L, which was lower than that of the positive control carbendazim (0.649 mg/L). The in vivo antifungal activity results showed that 3e exerted a protective effect on cucumber plants. Here, we report the synthesis and neuroprotective capacity of 27 compounds with a bisphenol hydroxyl-substituted 1,2,4-triazole core or 1,2,4-oxadiazole core for stroke therapy. In vitro studies of the neuroprotective effects of compounds 1-27 on sodium nitroprusside (SNP)-induced apoptosis in PC12 cells indicate that compound 24 is the most effective compound conferring potent protection against oxidative injury. Compound 24 inhibits reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation and restores the mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP). Moreover, further analysis of the mechanism showed that compound 24 activates the antioxidant defence system by promoting the nuclear translocation of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) and increasing the expression of haem oxygenase 1 (HO-1). An in vivo study was performed in a rat model of transient focal cerebral ischaemia generated by the intraluminal occlusion of the middle cerebral artery (MCAO). Reactive oxygen species (ROS) produced during oxidative stress play a vital role in the pathogenesis following SCI. The antioxidant morroniside is the main active component of the Chinese medicine Cornus officinalis. In recent years, it has been reported that morroniside has therapeutic effects on damage to multiple organs mediated by oxidative damage, but the effect of morroniside on SCI has not been reported. The purpose of this study was therefore to assess the therapeutic effect of morroniside on SCI, and to identify its underlying mechanism by direct intragastric administration immediately after SCI. Our study showed that morroniside treatment improved the functional recovery of rats following SCI. This behavioral improvement was associated with the higher survival in neurons and oligodendrocytes following SCI, which increased the capacity of injured spinal cord (SC) to form myelin and repair tissue, eventually contributing to improved neurological outcome. Furthermore, our study found that oxygen free radicals increased and antioxidant enzyme activity decreased in the injured SC. To test if appetitive drive varies in direct proportion to the level of body adiposity after accounting for genetic factors that contribute to both brain response and obesity risk.
Participants were adult monozygotic (n=54) and dizygotic (n=30) twins with at least one member of the pair with obesity. Body composition was assessed by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry. Hormonal and appetite measures were obtained in response to a standardized meal that provided 20% of estimated daily caloric needs and to an ad libitum buffet meal. Pre- and post-meal functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) assessed brain response to visual food cues in a set of a priori appetite-regulating regions. Exploratory voxelwise analyses outside a priori regions were performed with correction for multiple comparisons.

Feeling fat reflects difficulties in processing emotions and is an important aspect of body image and eating disorders. The current study aimed to develop a novel social comparison manipulation to induce feeling fat and to explore personality traits that may increase an individual's vulnerability.
At time 1254 healthy females (24.14 years, BMI=23.77) completed the feeling fat subscale of the Body Attitudes Questionnaire, as well as self-report measures of alexithymia, interoceptive sensibility, physical appearance comparison and perfectionism online.
Greater tendency to feel fat was significantly associated with difficulty identifying and describing feelings (alexithymia), poorer interoceptive sensibility, higher socially-prescribed perfectionism, and greater engagement in physical appearance comparisons. At time 2, a subset of 107 participants (22.39 years, BMI=23.85) were randomly assigned to a condition negative social comparison, positive social comparison, negative general, or neutral (as a control). Participants in the negative social comparison condition reported significantly greater increases in feeling fat compared to the control condition, but only when they were also high in alexithymia or socially-prescribed perfectionism.

Here, we report the synthesis and neuroprotective capacity of 27 compounds with a bisphenol hydroxyl-substituted 1,2,4-triazole core or 1,2,4-oxadiazole core for stroke therapy. In vitro studies of the neuroprotective effects of compounds 1-27 on sodium nitroprusside (SNP)-induced apoptosis in PC12 cells indicate that compound 24 is the most effective compound conferring potent protection against oxidative injury. Compound 24 inhibits reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation and restores the mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP). Moreover, further analysis of the mechanism showed that compound 24 activates the antioxidant defence system by promoting the nuclear translocation of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) and increasing the expression of haem oxygenase 1 (HO-1). An in vivo study was performed in a rat model of transient focal cerebral ischaemia generated by the intraluminal occlusion of the middle cerebral artery (MCAO). Compound 24 significantly reduced brain infarction and improved neurological function. In recent years, it has been reported that morroniside has therapeutic effects on damage to multiple organs mediated by oxidative damage, but the effect of morroniside on SCI has not been reported. The purpose of this study was therefore to assess the therapeutic effect of morroniside on SCI, and to identify its underlying mechanism by direct intragastric administration immediately after SCI. Our study showed that morroniside treatment improved the functional recovery of rats following SCI. This behavioral improvement was associated with the higher survival in neurons and oligodendrocytes following SCI, which increased the capacity of injured spinal cord (SC) to form myelin and repair tissue, eventually contributing to improved neurological outcome. Furthermore, our study found that oxygen free radicals increased and antioxidant enzyme activity decreased in the injured SC. Traumatic axonal injury (TAI) is a major cause of death and disability among patients with severe traumatic brain injury (TBI); however, no effective therapies have been developed to treat this disorder. Neuroinflammation accompanying microglial activation after TBI is likely to be an important factor in TAI. In this review, we summarize the current research in this field, and recent studies suggest that microglial activation plays an important role in TAI development. We discuss several drugs and therapies that may aid TAI recovery by modulating the microglial phenotype following TBI. Based on the findings of recent studies, we conclude that the promotion of active microglia to the M2 phenotype is a potential drug target for the treatment of TAI.The balance between exploitation and exploration essentially determines the performance of a population-based optimization algorithm, which is also a big challenge in algorithm design. Particle swarm optimization (PSO) has strong ability in exploitation, but is relatively weak in exploration, while crow search algorithm (CSA) is characterized by simplicity and more randomness. This study proposes a new crow swarm optimization algorithm coupling PSO and CSA, which provides the individuals the possibility of exploring the unknown regions under the guidance of another random individual. The proposed CSO algorithm is tested on several benchmark functions, including both unimodal and multimodal problems with different variable dimensions. The performance of the proposed CSO is evaluated by the optimization efficiency, the global search ability, and the robustness to parameter settings, all of which are improved to a great extent compared with either PSO and CSA, as the proposed CSO combines the advantages of PSO in exploitation and that of CSA in exploration, especially for complex high-dimensional problems.The digital twin is becoming the most promising emerging technology in the field of unmanned combat and has the potential to innovate future combat styles. Online battlefield learning is one of the key technologies for supporting the successful application of digital twin in unmanned combat. The unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) is employed as the experimental subject for systematically describing the proposed algorithm. The system architecture for implementing the digital twin-enabled online battlefield learning is firstly given, and its operational mode is also described in detail. Schizophrenia (SZ) is typically preceded by a prodromal (i.e. pre-illness) period characterized by attenuated positive symptoms and declining functional outcome. Negative symptoms are prominent among individuals at clinical high-risk (CHR) for psychosis (i.e. those with prodromal syndromes) and predictive of conversion to illness. Mechanisms underlying negative symptoms are unclear in the CHR population.
The current study evaluated whether CHR participants demonstrated deficits in the willingness to expend effort for rewards and whether these impairments are associated with negative symptoms and greater risk for conversion. Participants included 44 CHR participants and 32 healthy controls (CN) who completed the Effort Expenditure for Reward Task (EEfRT).
Compared to CN, CHR participants displayed reduced likelihood of exerting high effort for high probability and magnitude rewards. Among CHR participants, reduced effort expenditure was associated with greater negative symptom severity and greater probability of conversion to a psychotic disorder on a cross-sectional risk calculator.
Findings suggest that effort-cost computation is a marker of illness liability and a transphasic mechanism underlying negative symptoms in the SZ spectrum.

This study aimed to explore the spatial distribution of brain metastases (BMs) from small cell lung cancer (SCLC) a homogenous sample, and to identify the metastatic risk levels in brain regions.
T1-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) from SCLC patients were retrospectively reviewed from three medical institutions in China. All images were registered to the standard brain template provided by the Montreal Neurological Institute (MNI) 152 database, followed by transformation of the location of all BMs to the space of standard brain. The MNI structural atlas and Anatomical Automatic Labeling (AAL) atlas were then used to identify the anatomical brain regions, and the observed and expected rates of BMs were compared using 2-tailed proportional hypothesis testing. The locations and sizes of brain lesions were analyzed after image standardization.

Acute presentations with rapid progression outside the context of paraneoplastic cerebellar degeneration require prompt diagnosis and early access to disease-modifying immunotherapy in order to avert severe and permanent neurological disability.

In-flight conditions are hypothesized to influence the timing and success of long-distance migration. Wind assistance and thermal uplift are thought to reduce the energetic costs of flight, humidity, air pressure and temperature may affect the migrants' water balance, and clouds may impede navigation. Recent advances in animal-borne long-distance tracking enable evaluating the importance of these factors in determining animals' flight altitude.
Here we determine the effects of wind, humidity, temperature, cloud cover, and altitude (as proxy for climbing costs and air pressure) on flight altitude selection of two long-distance migratory shorebirds, far eastern curlew (Numenius madagascariensis) and whimbrel (Numenius phaeopus). To reveal the predominant drivers of flight altitude selection during migration we compared the atmospheric conditions at the altitude the birds were found flying with conditions elsewhere in the air column using conditional logistic mixed effect models.
Our results demonstrate thortant secondary factor. Our approach and findings can assist in predicting climate change effects on migration and in mitigating bird strikes with air traffic, wind farms, power lines, and other human-made structures.

Schizophrenia (SZ) is typically preceded by a prodromal (i.e. pre-illness) period characterized by attenuated positive symptoms and declining functional outcome. Negative symptoms are prominent among individuals at clinical high-risk (CHR) for psychosis (i.e. those with prodromal syndromes) and predictive of conversion to illness. Mechanisms underlying negative symptoms are unclear in the CHR population. The current study evaluated whether CHR participants demonstrated deficits in the willingness to expend effort for rewards and whether these impairments are associated with negative symptoms and greater risk for conversion. Participants included 44 CHR participants and 32 healthy controls (CN) who completed the Effort Expenditure for Reward Task (EEfRT). Compared to CN, CHR participants displayed reduced likelihood of exerting high effort for high probability and magnitude rewards. Among CHR participants, reduced effort expenditure was associated with greater negative symptom severity and greater probability of conversion to a psychotic disorder on a cross-sectional risk calculator. This study aimed to explore the spatial distribution of brain metastases (BMs) from small cell lung cancer (SCLC) a homogenous sample, and to identify the metastatic risk levels in brain regions. T1-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) from SCLC patients were retrospectively reviewed from three medical institutions in China. All images were registered to the standard brain template provided by the Montreal Neurological Institute (MNI) 152 database, followed by transformation of the location of all BMs to the space of standard brain. The MNI structural atlas and Anatomical Automatic Labeling (AAL) atlas were then used to identify the anatomical brain regions, and the observed and expected rates of BMs were compared using 2-tailed proportional hypothesis testing. Prebiotics may modify the biological processes in the chickens' gastrointestinal tract to improve poultry performance and health. Prebiotics are natural feed additives that offer many economic advantages by decreasing mortality rates, increasing growth rates, and improving birds' feed efficiency. Prebiotic action potentially affects the degradation of indigestible dietary compounds, the synthesis of nitrogen components and vitamins, and simplifies the removal of undesirable elements in the diet. Prebiotics could also induce desirable gut microbiome modifications and affect host metabolism and immune health. It is worth mentioning that gut bacteria metabolize the prebiotic compounds into organic compounds that the host can subsequently use. It is important to limit the concept of prebiotics to compounds that influence the metabolism of resident microorganisms. Any medicinal component or feed ingredient beneficial to the intestinal microecosystem can be considered a prebiotic. In this review, the impacts of prebiotics on the gut microbiome and physiological structure are discussed, emphasizing the poultry's growth performance. Besides, together with OC to EC ratio, n-alkanes to PAHs ratio, etc., EC1 to soot-EC ratio in PM can be considered as tracer characteristic of high-sulfur-content HFO ship distinguished from diesel fuel ships. Profiles of n-alkanes and PAHs in PM can be used to distinguish shipping emission source from other combustion sources. Moreover, characteristics of carbonaceous components in size-segregated particles are also discussed, including OC, EC, OC and EC fragments, as well as organic matters. Results show that most of the particle mass, OC, EC, and organic matters are concentrated in fine particles with size of less than 1.1 μm, indicating the significance of ultrafine particles. Here, we analysed egg hatching success and larval (naupliar) immobilisation/mortality of A. tonsa Mediterranean strain, cultured in laboratory conditions since 2008 and used as model organisms in ecotoxicology tests. Our aims were to evaluate the physiological response and sensitivity of A. tonsa over eight years of bioassays, and to compare our HCD with reference values, in order to assess the suitability of such a long-term culture for ecotoxicology studies. Acartia tonsa eggs were exposed for 48 h to the reference toxicant nickel chloride (NiCl2) and the % of egg hatching success and naupliar viability were compared to controls. A total of 59 acute tests, displayed in Shewhart-like control charts, showed a high mean percentage of egg hatching success (85.60% ± 5.90 SD) recorded for the whole period, and a low mean percentage of naupliar immobilisation/mortality (6.73% ± 6.38 SD) in controls. Effective concentration (EC50) for NiCl2 registered a stable mean of 0.14 mg Ni/L (± 0.047 SD) over time. Overall, our long-term dataset confirms the suitability of this copepod species for ecotoxicology studies even after years of culturing in laboratory conditions. This study revealed that H2S exposure induced 9 differentially expressed circRNAs and 15 differentially expressed miRNAs in chicken thymus. Furthermore, the circRNA - miRNA - mRNA network was constructed. We discovered that circR-PTPN23 - miR-15a - E2F3 was involved in the cell cycle and apoptosis. Further, an in vitro H2S exposure model was established using HD11 cell line and demonstrated that H2S suppressed cell proliferation and induced apoptosis. Moreover, ciR-PTPN23 and E2F3 were downregulated, but miR-15a was upregulated in both the thymus and HD11 cell line after H2S exposure.

Every year, nine million people die globally from ischemic heart disease (IHD). There are many methods of early detection of IHD which can help prevent death, but few are able to determine the configuration and severity of this disease. Our study aims to determine the severity and configuration of ischemic zones by implementing the reaction-diffusion analysis of cardiac excitation in a model of the left ventricle of the human heart. Initially, this model is applied to compute twenty thousand in-silico ECG signals with stochastic distribution of ischemic parameters. Using an in vitro model, 3T3-L1 adipocytes were cocultured with purified splenic CD4
T cells from C57BL/6 **** consuming one of two isocaloric high-fat (HF) diets (60% kcal fat), containing either 41.2% kcal from lard+18.7% kcal from corn oil (control, HF) or 41.2% kcal from lard+13.4% kcal from corn oil+5.3% kcal from fish oil (HF+FO). Cocultures were stimulated for 48 h with lipopolysaccharide (10 ng/mL).
Compared with HF cocultures, HF+FO reduced Th1-cell markers (including secreted interferon-γ) and increased Th2-cell markers, consistent with reduced expression of genes related to major histocompatibility complex II (P < 0.05). HF+FO also blunted markers of priming and activity of the NOD-like receptor family pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome (P < 0.05). In confirmatory work, 3T3-L1 adipocyte pretreatment with the LC ω-3 PUFA docosahexaenoic acid (100 μM, 24 h) blunted interferon-γ-induced (5 ng/mL, 24 h) expression of genes related to major histocompatibility complex II and priming and activity markers of the NLRP3 inflammasome compared with control (P < 0.05).

While some COVID-19 vaccines have already been approved by different regulatory agencies, there is scarce data in large cohorts regarding the efficacy and security of COVID-19 vaccines in people with MS. In this short review we aimed the most important information to keep in mind regarding this topic.
It has been generally accepted that people with MS (PwMS) should be vaccinated against COVID-19. The aim of our investigation was to evaluate the humoral response to natural SARS-CoV-2 infection and to two COVID-19 vaccines (BNT162b2 Pfizer-BioNTech and Beijing/Sinopharm BBIBP-CorV) in our cohort of PwMS under high efficacy disease modifying therapies (DMTs), cladribine and alemtuzumab.
Twenty two PwMS treated at the Clinic of Neurology, in Belgrade, who developed COVID-19 and/or were vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2, during treatment with cladribine and alemtuzumab, were included. Out of 18 patients treated with cladribine, 11 developed COVID-19, and 11 were vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2 (four with mRNA vaccine, 7 with Sinopharm). Four MS patients under alemtuzumab were vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2; three with mRNA, and one with Sinopharm vaccine. SARS-Cov-2 IgG response was measured using ELISA anti-spike protein-based serology (INEP, Belgrade, Serbia).

Previous studies suggested that depressive symptoms and sleep quality may be important for long-term clinical outcomes following cardiothoracic transplant. Few studies, however, have systematically examined objective markers of these behavioral factors among ambulatory transplant recipients, or their association with clinical outcomes.
We examined sleep quality and depressive symptoms with subsequent clinical outcomes (hospitalizations and death) in a sample of 66 lung or heart transplant recipients using a single-center, prospective cohort study. Recipients were assessed at approximately 6months post-transplant and completed one week of actigraphy assessment to examine sleep quality and self-report measures of mood (Centers for Epidemiologic Studies of Depression [CESD]). Recipients were followed for clinical outcomes.
At 6-months following transplantation, recipients spent the majority of daytime activity at a sedentary level (61% of daily activity [SD=10]) and elevated depressive symptoms were common (subclinical=17%, mild=12%, or moderate=8%).

In this short review we aimed the most important information to keep in mind regarding this topic. It has been generally accepted that people with MS (PwMS) should be vaccinated against COVID-19. The aim of our investigation was to evaluate the humoral response to natural SARS-CoV-2 infection and to two COVID-19 vaccines (BNT162b2 Pfizer-BioNTech and Beijing/Sinopharm BBIBP-CorV) in our cohort of PwMS under high efficacy disease modifying therapies (DMTs), cladribine and alemtuzumab. Twenty two PwMS treated at the Clinic of Neurology, in Belgrade, who developed COVID-19 and/or were vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2, during treatment with cladribine and alemtuzumab, were included. Out of 18 patients treated with cladribine, 11 developed COVID-19, and 11 were vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2 (four with mRNA vaccine, 7 with Sinopharm). Four MS patients under alemtuzumab were vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2; three with mRNA, and one with Sinopharm vaccine. SARS-Cov-2 IgG response was measured using ELISA anti-spike protein-based serology (INEP, Belgrade, Serbia). In this observational cohort study, we have followed up the 76 individuals who tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 infection by real-time reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) for 16weeks (post-enrolment) to record the periodic changes in titre, concentration, clinical growth and persistence of naturally developed SARS-CoV-2 antibodies. We collected serum samples from these individuals for 16weeks with a frequency ofweekly and fortnightly during each follow-up and tested them in two CLIA-based platforms (Abbott Architect i1000SR and Roche Cobas e411) for testing SARS-CoV-2 antibodies both qualitatively and quantitatively.
We recorded the antibody magnitude of these individuals 10 times between September 2020 and February 2021. We found a waning of antibodies against nucleocapsid antigen protein but not a complete disappearance by the end of 16weeks. Out of 76 cases, 30 cases (39.47%) became seronegative in qualitative assay, although all the sera samples (100%) remained positive when tested in quantitative assay.

Several studies before the introduction of novel therapies in MM, demonstrated a pegylated G-CSF to be successful in mobilizing peripheral blood stem cells (PBSCs). Lipegfilgrastim is a novel long-acting G-CSF that is produced by the conjugation of a single 20-kDa polyethelene glycol to the natural O-glycosylation site of G-CSF. Twenty-four MM patients were included for PBSCs mobilization with a single SC injection of 6 mg lipegfilgrastim. PBSC collection was started when the CD34+ count was > 10 × 106 cells/L. The target progenitor cells were 6 × 106 cells/kg. The median day of apheresis was + 3 (range 2-5) following lipegfilgrastim. Median peripheral blood CD34+ count pre-mobilization was of 22.65 (range 3.36-105) × 106 cells/L. The median number of leukaphaeresis procedures was 2 (range 1-4). The median mobilized CD34+ cells/kg were 8.26 (range 0.77-12.42). One patient failed to mobilize and two patients mobilized less then 6 × 106 cells/kg. Toxicity was mild and transient. Twenty-three patients underwent ASCT following high dose melphalan. All patients engrafted. As lipegfilgrastim is administered only once, it is conceivable that it improves both compliance and quality-of-life (NCT02488382).

For adolescents living with HIV (ALWH), school may be the most important but understudied social sphere related to HIV stigma. Teachers are role models in the classroom and within the community, and their attitudes and behavior towards people living with HIV may have critical psychosocial and treatment ramifications. Altering teachers' knowledge, attitudes and beliefs (K/A/B) about HIV could reduce the stigmatizing content within their teaching, classrooms and school, improving the environment for ALWH.
We developed a one-day teacher training module to enrich teacher K/A/B that included lecture presentations, HIV films and educational animation, structured instructions for teacher role play scenarios, and a question-and-answer session facilitated by a trained ALWH peer educator. We also conducted key informant interviews with education sector subject matter experts (SMEs), including education officers, county commissioners and head teachers to review and provide feedback on the teacher training module.

We assessed annual percent change (APC) in NYC CRC incidence, stage and mortality rates through 2016 in a longitudinal cross-sectional study of NY State Cancer Registry, NYC Vital Statistics, and NYC Community Health Survey (CHS) data. Linear regression tested associations between CRC mortality rates and risk factors.
Overall CRC incidence rates from 2000 decreased 2.8% yearly from 54.1 to 37.3/100,000 population in 2016, and mortality rates from 2003 decreased 2.9% yearly from 21.0 to 13.9 in 2016 at similar rates for all racial/ethnic groups. Local stage disease decreased overall with a transient increase from 2002 to 2007. In 2016, CRC incidence was higher among Blacks (42.5 per 100,000) than Whites (38.0), Latinos (31.7) and Asians (30.0). In 2016, Blacks had higher mortality rates (17.9), than Whites (15.2), Latinos (10.4) and Asians (8.8). In 2016, colonoscopy rates among Blacks were 72.2%, Latinos 71.1%, Whites 67.2%, and Asians, 60.9%. CRC mortality rates varied by neighborhood and were independently associated with Black race, CRC risk factors and access to care.
In a diverse urban population, a citywide campaign to increase screening colonoscopy was associated with decreased incidence and mortality among all ethnic/racial groups. Higher CRC burden among the Black population demonstrate more interventions are needed to improve equity.

Since the outbreak of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in December 2019, community non-medical anti-epidemic workers have played an important role in the prevention of COVID-19 in China. The present study aimed to assess sleep quality and its associated factors among community non-medical anti-epidemic workers.
A survey was conducted using anonymous online questionnaire to collect information from 16 March 2020 to 24 March 2020. A total of 474 participants were included, with a 94.23% completion rate. The questionnaire contained demographic data, physical symptoms, and contact history with COVID-19. The researchers assessed perceived social support by the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS), assessed perceived stress by the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), and measured sleep quality by the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire.
Among the participants, 46.20% reported poor sleep quality. A binary logistic regression revealed that having educational background of junior college or above, being a member of the police force, having contacted individuals with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 infection, having chronic disease(s), having illness within 2 weeks, and having high or moderate perceived stress were significant factors associated with an increased risk of poor sleep quality.
Demographic factors, physical symptoms, history of contact with COVID-19, and perceived stress are significantly associated with poor sleep quality of community non-medical anti-epidemic workers. Thus, targeting these factors might be helpful in enhancing sleep quality of community workers.

There is a lack of nationwide studies on critically ill patients' health disparity under the National Health Insurance (NHI) system. We evaluated health disparities in intensive care unit (ICU) admission, outcomes, and readmission in impoverished children.
We conducted a retrospective cohort study using a national database from the Korean NHI and Medical Aid Program (MAP). We evaluated health disparities in intensive care unit (ICU) admission, outcomes, and readmission in impoverished children.
