After creating second-degree burn wounds, 40 adult male Wistar rats were randomly divided into four treatment groups the control, SMV, BMSCs, and the combination therapy group (BMSCs+SMV). Animals were sacrificed 14 days after treatment initiation and the wounds were removed for histological and molecular analyses. All in all, combination therapy produced better outcomes than individual therapy in terms of the wound closure area, epidermal regeneration level, collagen deposition intensity, and re-epithelialization rate. In addition, the elevations of expression levels of Akt and mTOR genes, at both mRNA and protein levels, were more pronounced in the BMSCs+SMV group (P less then 0.05, at least, for both qRT-PCR and western blot assessments). qRT-PCR findings also demonstrated that the wounds treated with the combination of BMSCs and Smv had the highest expression levels of CD31 and VEGF genes (P less then 0.01 for all comparisons). We investigated factors influencing survival and recurrence. METHODS An institutional cancer registry and literature search were used for a retrospective study. Only clear cell sarcoma cases with a primary site of skin and subcutaneous tissue were included. Kaplan-Meier and Cox regression analyses were used to assess survival time and hazard ratios. RESULTS Three eligible cases were identified at our institution. In addition, the PubMed and Google Scholar reviews identified 1,878 items, with 23 patients with PCS. The median age was 25 years with 62% female. The tumors ranged in size from 0.4 to 4.5 cm. Cytogenetics showed t(12;22)(q13;q12) in all cases and a unique variant of t(2;22)(q32.3;q12) in one case. Surgery was the most common treatment, followed by chemotherapy/radiation. PCS recurred in 46% of patients with a median relapse-free survival time of 15 months. Only two known PCS-related mortalities were recorded, at 38 and 60 months following initial diagnosis. Smaller tumor size and negative sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) status were significantly associated with a better disease-free survival. CONCLUSIONS Tumor size and SLNB status influence PCS survival and recurrence. More research is needed due to the rarity of this disease. KEY POINTS 1. To this end, we invited AD patients and control participants to evoke past and future events after odor exposure or without odor. Analysis showed that AD patients and control participants produced more specific and more emotional past and future events after odor exposure than without odor. However, odor exposure did not improve the retrieval time for future thinking in AD participants. METHODS AND RESULTS We examined 809 consecutive hospitalized patients with heart failure (78 ± 12 years, 54% male). WRF was defined as an increase in creatinine >0.3 mg and ≥25% from admission to discharge. TRPG was measured at admission and before discharge using echocardiography. The primary outcome was all-cause death within 1-year after discharge. Patients were classified as follows for analysis no WRF and no TRPG increase (n = 523); no WRF and TRPG increase (no WRF with iTRPG, n = 170); WRF and no TRPG increase (WRF without iTRPG, n = 90); and WRF and TRPG increase (WRF with iTRPG, n = 26). A change in TRPG weakly but significantly correlated to a change in haemoglobin and haematocrit, a percent decrease in brain natriuretic peptide, and body weight reduction during the index period of hospitalization.

  • Proof-of-principle of the approach includes pharmacological treatment of single-cells by the model drug doxorubicin. The herein presented strategy for single-cell array fabrication can constitute a first step toward an innovative and environmentally friendly generation of aqueous-based inkjet-printed cellular devices.High invasion and metastasis are the major obstacles to successful breast cancertherapy. Indocyanine green (ICG), a photosensitizer for photothermal therapy (PTT), shows potent anticancer efficacy when combined with the chemotherapeutic drug doxorubicin (DOX). Human serum albumin (HSA), a biocompatible carrier material, has been successfully used for the delivery of paclitaxel (Abraxane). In addition, there are ICG functional binding regions in HSA. Thus, a smart assembled nanoplatform (DI@HSA NPs) was constructed to achieve the synergistic effects of chemo- photothermal therapy against breast cancer. Compared to free ICG and free DOX, DI@HSA NPs showed satisfactory stability and exhibited an enhanced tumor targeting capacity. The mild hyperthermia generated by DI@HSA NPs can not only cause tumor photothermal ablation and promote the uptake of DI@HSA NPs by 4T1 cells, but also protect the healthy tissues nearby the tumor from overheating injury. More importantly, DI@HSA NPs greatly amplified the infiltration of CD4+ T cells and CD8+ T cells, resulting in inhibited tumor growth and metastasis. The bone region was the electrostatically cross-linked PLGA-grafted nano hydroxyapatite (nHA-g-PLGA)/CS scaffold, which supported cellular adhesion and spreading. Human adipose derived stem cells (hASCs) were seeded into the cartilage region and observed to aggregate, formimg multicellular spheroids, which subsequently fused to rod-like aggregates with a larger size. At the same time, hASCs in aggregates crossed the interface and entered the bone region, presenting adhesion and spreading. With the induction of bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP-2) and insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) during the first 14 days and BMP-2 alone during the last 14 days, hASCs aggregates in the cartilage region underwent chondrogenesis, expressing an abundant cartilage matrix including glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) and type II collagen (COL II) at 28 days. The chondrogenic induced hASCs migrated in the bone region turned to osteogenesis at 28 days, which was associated with their large spreading area and the switch of the induce factor. Thus, the present bilayer scaffold induced the different distribution of hASCs, resulting in subsequent chondrogenesis and osteogenesis, realizing osteochondral tissue construction in vitro.

  • The aim of the study was to understand the physical therapist's experience and perception of the support they give to their older patients or clients to continue exercising.

    Using purposive sampling, we recruited fifteen physical therapists with more than 5 years of clinical experience and conducted semi-structured interviews. We analyzed the transcribed data using thematic analysis.

    Three main themes emerged (1) the expected results as healthcare professionals, (2) clinical experience and continuing professional development, and (3) limited educational opportunities. Physical therapists struggled to achieve a certain level of exercise adherence in their patients, and the low success rate decreased their confidence. We found that physical therapists needed not only to rely on clinical experience but also to integrate scientific evidence to implement better behavioral change techniques; they would also appreciate receiving appropriate educational opportunities.

  • To prepare new graduate nurse practitioners (NPs) for transition to practice, postgraduate residency or fellowship programs have been spreading across the nation in the past decade.

    We examined the effects of completing a postgraduate residency or fellowship program on role perception, practice autonomy, team collaboration, job satisfaction, and intent to leave among primary care NPs (PCNPs).

    We analyzed 8,400 PCNP respondents, representing a total of 75,963 PCNPs nationwide, to the 2018 National Sample Survey of Registered Nurses. We conducted multivariate logistic regression analyses to examine whether completing a postgraduate training program was associated with increased role perception, greater practice autonomy, improved team collaboration, increased job satisfaction, and decreased intent to leave in their work, controlling for NP personal and practice characteristics.

    About 10% of PCNPs completed some form of postgraduate training. Primary care NPs who had completed a residency or fellowship program were more likely to have a minority background (e.g., non-White and male) and also see more underserved populations (e.g., minority background, with limited English proficiency) than those without residency training. We found that PCNPs with residency training were more likely to report enhanced confidence in independent roles, greater practice autonomy, improved team collaboration, increased job satisfaction, and decreased intent to leave than those without residency training.

    This study supports further expansion of such programs, which would have positive effects for NPs, health care organizations, and patients, necessitating a long-overdue conversation about real public funding for primary care graduate nursing education.

    Primary care providers (PCPs) are essential components of a health care system, but there are shortages of PCPs. Nurse practitioners (NPs) are essential in meeting the needs of an increased demand for primary care, but there is a wide variety in the training offered to NP students. The purpose of this analysis is to determine student self-reported comfort in a variety of care delivery, covering primary care topics, including knowledge and skills. We conducted a preclinical and postclinical survey. Surveys were obtained before and at the conclusion of two clinical rotations in Baltimore, MD. Students were a part of a Health Resources and Services Administration-funded program to prepare NP students to practice in urban, underserved settings. Seventeen NP students NP students responded to both our pre- and postsurveys. Overall, student comfort increased in many focus areas, but no change was seen in important domains, including interpreting imaging studies, filling out common forms, and interpreting certain dtions and on entry to practice. Well rounded, broad-based education is necessary for the development of highly trained PCPs; greater understanding of student confidence, knowledge, and skills can assist educators in assuring that all NPs enter practice as safe and competent providers.

    This rapid paradigm shift from face-to-face (F2F) consultations to telemedicine required a collaborative approach for successful implementation while maintaining quality of care. The processes for conducting a telemedicine visit for HF patient are not well defined or outlined.

    Using a collaborative practice model and nurse practitioner led program, technology was leveraged to manage the high-risk HF population using virtual care (consultation via phone or video-to-home) with two aims first to provide ongoing HF care using available telemedicine technologies or F2F care when necessary and, second, to evaluate and direct those needing urgent/emergent level of care to emergency department (ED).

    The process was converted into an intuitive algorithm that describes essential elements and team roles necessary for execution of a successful HF consultation.

    Following the algorithm, nurse practitioners conducted 132 visits, yielding 100% success in the conversion of F2F appointments to telemedicine, with 3 patients referred to ED for care. The information obtained through telemedicine consultation accurately informed decision for ED evaluation with resultant admission.

    Male-to-male sexual contact remains the primary mode of transmission for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in the United States. Reported STI rates in men who have sex with men (MSM) taking HIV preexposure prophylaxis (PrEP) are higher than expected, possibly due to decreased condom use while on PrEP or more frequent STI screening with routine PrEP care.

    Hamilton County, located in southwestern Ohio, consistently has the highest rates of gonorrhea and syphilis and second highest rate of chlamydia in the state. The purpose of this project was to incorporate Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)-recommended comprehensive STI evaluations for MSM attending a nurse-run PrEP clinic in southwestern Ohio.

    Seventy-five MSM seen for PrEP between January 1, 2017, and May 15, 2019, were included in the STI testing program. Of these, 59 were included in outcome evaluation.

    Sexually transmitted infection testing was performed every three months, including HIV and syphilis, with chlamydint chlamydia/gonorrhea testing as part of comprehensive STI evaluation. Implementing CDC screening recommendations in PrEP programs has been effective in identifying and treating STIs. We conducted multivariate logistic regression analyses to examine whether completing a postgraduate training program was associated with increased role perception, greater practice autonomy, improved team collaboration, increased job satisfaction, and decreased intent to leave in their work, controlling for NP personal and practice characteristics. About 10% of PCNPs completed some form of postgraduate training. Primary care NPs who had completed a residency or fellowship program were more likely to have a minority background (e.g., non-White and male) and also see more underserved populations (e.g., minority background, with limited English proficiency) than those without residency training. We found that PCNPs with residency training were more likely to report enhanced confidence in independent roles, greater practice autonomy, improved team collaboration, increased job satisfaction, and decreased intent to leave than those without residency training. Primary care providers (PCPs) are essential components of a health care system, but there are shortages of PCPs. Nurse practitioners (NPs) are essential in meeting the needs of an increased demand for primary care, but there is a wide variety in the training offered to NP students. The purpose of this analysis is to determine student self-reported comfort in a variety of care delivery, covering primary care topics, including knowledge and skills. We conducted a preclinical and postclinical survey. Surveys were obtained before and at the conclusion of two clinical rotations in Baltimore, MD. Students were a part of a Health Resources and Services Administration-funded program to prepare NP students to practice in urban, underserved settings. Seventeen NP students NP students responded to both our pre- and postsurveys. Overall, student comfort increased in many focus areas, but no change was seen in important domains, including interpreting imaging studies, filling out common forms, and interpreting certain dtions and on entry to practice. Using a collaborative practice model and nurse practitioner led program, technology was leveraged to manage the high-risk HF population using virtual care (consultation via phone or video-to-home) with two aims first to provide ongoing HF care using available telemedicine technologies or F2F care when necessary and, second, to evaluate and direct those needing urgent/emergent level of care to emergency department (ED). The process was converted into an intuitive algorithm that describes essential elements and team roles necessary for execution of a successful HF consultation. Following the algorithm, nurse practitioners conducted 132 visits, yielding 100% success in the conversion of F2F appointments to telemedicine, with 3 patients referred to ED for care. Reported STI rates in men who have sex with men (MSM) taking HIV preexposure prophylaxis (PrEP) are higher than expected, possibly due to decreased condom use while on PrEP or more frequent STI screening with routine PrEP care. Hamilton County, located in southwestern Ohio, consistently has the highest rates of gonorrhea and syphilis and second highest rate of chlamydia in the state. The purpose of this project was to incorporate Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)-recommended comprehensive STI evaluations for MSM attending a nurse-run PrEP clinic in southwestern Ohio. Seventy-five MSM seen for PrEP between January 1, 2017, and May 15, 2019, were included in the STI testing program. Of these, 59 were included in outcome evaluation. Sexually transmitted infection testing was performed every three months, including HIV and syphilis, with chlamydint chlamydia/gonorrhea testing as part of comprehensive STI evaluation. Implementing CDC screening recommendations in PrEP programs has been effective in identifying and treating STIs. Incorporating sexual history and comprehensive testing may help providers in other settings identify patients who need more frequent HIV/STI screening and prevention services.

In the present study, we investigated the clinical impact of myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) on hemodialysis patients and their mechanism of action.

    MDSCs were tested among 104 patients undergoing hemodialysis and their association with overall survival (OS) and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events was determined.

    Hemodialysis patients presented a significantly higher level of monocytic MDSCs (M-MDSCs) compared to healthy controls. M-MDSC were tested 3 months after first testing among 103 hemodialysis patients, with one patient not retested due to early death. The repeated results of M-MDSC levels were consistent with the initial results. Patients with persistent high level of M-MDSCs presented decreased OS, as well as increased stroke and acute heart failure events. This work is premised on the consideration of specific etiological groupings and subgroupings across and between different domains of functioning within the context of familial and complex environments throughout the life span. We highlight the potential contributions of advances in behavioral methodologies, genomics, and neuroscience when considered within universal and hierarchic frameworks based on development.The placement of additional stents in patients with hilar malignant biliary obstruction can be challenging when a metal stent already exists because occasionally, the catheter and delivery system of the additional stent cannot pass through the mesh of the formerly placed stent. We studied ten consecutive patients with hilar malignant biliary obstruction who underwent mesh dilation using a novel ultra-sharp dilation device (ES dilator) to assess the efficacy and safety of the ES dilator for mesh dilation. Mesh dilation using the ES dilator was successful in eight patients (8/10; 80.0%), which was the same rate as that of patients with pre-dilation using a Soehendra biliary dilation catheter (4/5, 80.0%) and patients without pre-dilation (4/5, 80.0%). In the two patients with dilation failure, the angle of the hilar bile duct branch was too steep to permit the passage of a stiff dilation device. Nonetheless, stent placement was uncomplicated in all mesh-dilated patients (8/8, 100.0%), and no adverse events related to the ES dilator were observed. The efficacy of an ultra-sharp dilation device appears promising for metallic stent mesh dilation, especially in patients where conventional methods are unsuccessful. However, additional data are necessary to confirm our findings.Purpose The primary aim of this study was to obtain high-quality acoustic normative data in natural field environments for female voices. A secondary aim was to examine acoustic measurement variability in field environments. Method This study employed a within-subject repeated-measures experimental design that included 45 young female adults with normal voices. Participants were stratified by age (18-23, 24-29, and 30-35 years). After initial evaluation and instruction, participants completed voice recordings during seven consecutive days using a standard protocol, including both connected speech and sustained vowels. Thirty-two cepstral-, spectral-, and time-based acoustic measures were acquired using Praat and the Analysis of Dysphonia in Speech and Voice. Results Among the 958 total recordings, greater than 90% satisfied inclusion criteria based on protocol compliance, peak clipping, and signal-to-noise ratio. Significant differences were observed for age (p less then .05). For 19 acoustic measures, values improved significantly as signal-to-noise ratio increased. Cepstral- and spectral-based measures demonstrated less measurement variability as compared with time-based measures. Conclusions With adequate training, field audio recordings represent a viable option for clinical voice management. The significant age effects observed in this study support the need for more specific criteria when collecting and applying normative data. Cepstral- and spectral-based measures demonstrated the least measurement variability. This study provides additional evidence for multiparameter acoustic voice measurement, specifically toward ecologically valid sampling in natural environments. Future studies should expand on these findings in other populations with normal and disordered voices.In this article, we review nonadiabatic molecular dynamics (NAMD) methods for modeling spin-crossover transitions. First, we discuss different representations of electronic states employed in the grid-based and direct NAMD simulations. The nature of interstate couplings in different representations is highlighted, with the main focus on nonadiabatic and spin-orbit couplings. Second, we describe three NAMD methods that have been used to simulate spin-crossover dynamics, including trajectory surface hopping, ab initio multiple spawning, and multiconfiguration time-dependent Hartree. Some aspects of employing different electronic structure methods to obtain information about potential energy surfaces and interstate couplings for NAMD simulations are also discussed. Third, representative applications of NAMD to spin crossovers in molecular systems of different sizes and complexities are highlighted. Finally, we pose several fundamental questions related to spin-dependent processes. These questions should be possible to address with future methodological developments in NAMD.

Thirty-two cepstral-, spectral-, and time-based acoustic measures were acquired using Praat and the Analysis of Dysphonia in Speech and Voice. Results Among the 958 total recordings, greater than 90% satisfied inclusion criteria based on protocol compliance, peak clipping, and signal-to-noise ratio. Significant differences were observed for age (p less then .05). For 19 acoustic measures, values improved significantly as signal-to-noise ratio increased. Cepstral- and spectral-based measures demonstrated less measurement variability as compared with time-based measures. Conclusions With adequate training, field audio recordings represent a viable option for clinical voice management. The significant age effects observed in this study support the need for more specific criteria when collecting and applying normative data. Cepstral- and spectral-based measures demonstrated the least measurement variability. This study provides additional evidence for multiparameter acoustic voice measurement, specifically toward ecologically valid sampling in natural environments. Future studies should expand on these findings in other populations with normal and disordered voices.In this article, we review nonadiabatic molecular dynamics (NAMD) methods for modeling spin-crossover transitions. First, we discuss different representations of electronic states employed in the grid-based and direct NAMD simulations. The nature of interstate couplings in different representations is highlighted, with the main focus on nonadiabatic and spin-orbit couplings. Second, we describe three NAMD methods that have been used to simulate spin-crossover dynamics, including trajectory surface hopping, ab initio multiple spawning, and multiconfiguration time-dependent Hartree. Some aspects of employing different electronic structure methods to obtain information about potential energy surfaces and interstate couplings for NAMD simulations are also discussed. Third, representative applications of NAMD to spin crossovers in molecular systems of different sizes and complexities are highlighted. Finally, we pose several fundamental questions related to spin-dependent processes. These questions should be possible to address with future methodological developments in NAMD.

  • Diabetes mellitus is a major health problem in Jordan. This study measured the knowledge, risk perception and practice of diabetes in a sample of Jordanian university students. It also explored predictors to the relationship between the KAP sections and each section with the associated characteristics.

    A cross-sectional study was carried out in seven university campuses in South Jordan. A total of 3000 participants received and were asked to fill in a self- administered structured questionnaire about their diabetes knowledge, risk perception and practice.

    A total of 2158 respondents (1031 male and 1127 females) with ages ranging between 18 and 50years (97.2% < 30years) were included in the final analysis. Participants' scoring was poor in diabetes knowledge (41.9%), moderate (52.5%) in risk perception of diabetes and slightly higher (61.9%) in practice. Prediction of diabetes knowledge included age, studying health sciences, being in the first or fifth academic year, with a family history of diabetes, overweight and caring for a relative with diabetes. Without a family history of diabetes and caring for a relative with diabetes significantly predicted diabetes risk perception. Diabetes knowledge and caring for a relative with diabetes were the only predictors of diabetes practice.

    In spite of the educational status, university students' level of DM- related knowledge and the perceived risks and practices toward the disease were not adequate. Programs aiming to increase awareness about diabetes for students in all levels and for the general public should be initiated in order to help prevent or delay the occurrence of the disease.

    The current study aims to determine the molecular mechanisms of diabetic retinopathy (DR) using the protein-protein interactome and metabolome map. We examined the protein network of novel biomarkers of DR for direct (physical) and indirect (functional) interactions using clinical target proteins in different models.

    We used proteomic tools including 2-dimensional gel electrophoresis, mass spectrometry analysis, and database search for biomarker identification using in vivo murine and human model of diabetic retinopathy and in vitro model of oxidative stress. For the protein interactome and metabolome mapping, various bioinformatic tools that include STRING and OmicsNet were used.

    We uncovered new diabetic biomarkers including prohibitin (PHB), dynamin 1, microtubule-actin crosslinking factor 1, Toll-like receptor (TLR 7), complement activation, as well as hypothetical proteins that include a disintegrin and metalloproteinase (ADAM18), vimentin III, and calcium-binding C2 domain-containing phospholipid-d visual cycle, cytoskeletal remodeling, altered lipid concentration, inflammation, PHB depletion, tubulin phosphorylation, and altered energy metabolism. The protein-metabolite interactions in the current network demonstrate the etiology of retinal degeneration and suggest the potential therapeutic approach to treat DR.
    An intense increase in pre-diabetes has taken place among the worldwide population each year. The purpose of this study was to assess the diagnostic validity of the American Diabetes Association (ADA) screening questionnaire for identifying pre-diabetes in the Iranian rural population.

    This study was conducted in Ahar County, East Azarbaijan, Iran. The participants (
     = 440) were randomly recruited via trained community health care workers. The ADA questionnaire including six items (age, gender, having family members with diabetes, obesity, hypertension, and physical activity) is the screening tool used to identify people at high risk for developing type 2 diabetes. The World Health Organization (WHO) forward/backward translation protocol was used for translating the assessment tool.     The main aim of this study was to explore how participants were practicing insulin injections and assess its association with the insulin related-outcomes.

    A hospital-based cross-sectional study was conducted among 176 youngsters with diabetes in Tikur Anbesa Specialized Hospital, Ethiopia. The inclusion criterion was the use of insulin treatment for a minimum of one year. Data about insulin injection practices was derived from participants' report. Descriptive statistics was presented using frequency distributions and percentages for categorical variables while measure of central tendencies and dispersion for continuous variables. Chi-square test was employed to test for the association between compared variables.

    Participants were asked on how frequent they practice the appropriate insulin injecting practices. Based on that, eliminating air bubbles from a syringe, lifting skin fold during an injection, inserting a needle deep enough in the subcutaneous tissue, inspecting injection sites and self-monited to previous studies, this study came with higher proportion of participants who frequently practice the appropriate insulin injection practices. However, it is still important to educate patients on some crucial injecting practices.

  • Opioid use disorder (OUD), a chronic disease, is a major public health problem. Despite availability of effective treatment, too few people receive it and treatment retention is low. Understanding barriers and facilitators of treatment access and retention is needed to improve outcomes for people with OUD.

    To assess 3-month outcomes pilot data from a patient-centered OUD treatment program in Iowa, USA, that utilized flexible treatment requirements and prioritized engagement over compliance.

    Forty patients (62.5% female mean age was 35.7 years, SD 9.5) receiving medication, either buprenorphine or naltrexone, to treat OUD were enrolled in an observational study. Patients could select or decline case management, counseling, and peer recovery groups. Substance use, risk and protective factors, and recovery capital were measured at intake and 3 months.

    Most participants reported increased recovery capital. The median Assessment of Recovery Capital (ARC) score went from 37 at enrollment to 43 (p < 0.01). Illegal drug use decreased, with the median days using illegal drugs in the past month dropping from 10 to 0 (p < 0.001). Cravings improved 29.2% reported no cravings at intake and 58.3% reported no cravings at 3 months (p < 0.001). Retention rate was 92.5% at 3 months. Retention rate for participants who were not on probation/parole was higher (96.9%) than for those on probation/parole (62.5%, p = 0.021).

    This study shows preliminary evidence that a care model based on easy and flexible access and strategies to improve treatment retention improves recovery capital, reduces illegal drug use and cravings, and retains people in treatment.

    Mortality in individuals with diabetes with severe hypoglycemia requiring ambulance services intervention is high and it is unclear whether this is modifiable. Our aim was to characterise this high-risk group and assess the impact of nurse-led intervention on mortality.

    In this single centre study, patients with diabetes and hypoglycemia requiring ambulance call out were randomized to nurse led support (intensive arm) or managed using existing pathways (standard arm). A third group agreed to have their data collected longitudinally (observational arm). The primary outcome was all-cause mortality comparing intensive with combined standard and observational arms as well as standard arm alone.

    Of 828 individuals identified, 323 agreed to participate with 132 assigned to intensive, 130 to standard and 61 to observational arms. Mean follow up period was 42.6 ± 15.6 months. Mortality in type 1 diabetes (n = 158) was similar across study arms but in type 2 diabetes (n = 160) this was reduced to 33% in the intere studies are warranted to further investigate this approach.     In heart transplantation, donor hearts inevitably suffer from ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury, which leads to primary graft dysfunction and affects patients' survival rate. Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) have been reported to attenuate myocardial I/R injury via their paracrine effects, which can be enhanced by hypoxic preconditioning. We hypothesized that the donor heart preservation with hypoxic conditioned medium (CdM) derived from BMSCs would improve post-transplant graft function.
