JCo also caused an increase in the sub-G1 phase and cell apoptosis via the intrinsic and extrinsic apoptosis pathways. JCo combined with 5-FU presented a synergistic effect to reduce cell viability. In conclusion, JCo inhibited oral cancer cell growth by inducing cell cycle arrest and activating cell apoptosis, and JCo significantly synergized with 5-FU. JCo might have the potential to be an adjuvant and a new therapeutic drug for oral cancer treatment.

Retrospective chart review of 148 patients who underwent cosmetic rhinoplasty. Results of pre- and postoperative Standardized Cosmesis and Health Nasal Outcomes Survey (SCHNOS) questionnaires, and rates of revision or patient-initiated revision discussions (RD) were collected. Patients were stratified based on answers to SCHNOS Question five (SQ5), "Decreased mood and self-esteem due to my nose."
Of the 148 patients included in the analysis, 72.9% were women, and the mean age was 30.9 (15-59, SD 10.3) years. Those patients who selected 4 or 5 on SQ5 had an overall revision rate of 16.7% and 18.8%, respectively, and a RD rate of 27.8% and 31.25%, respectively. Those patients who selected 0 through 3 on SQ5 had an overall revision rate of 0%, and an overall RD rate of 10.4%. Only SQ5 was predictive of revision and RD on logistic regression analysis (p = 0.0484 and p = 0.0257) after Bonferroni correction.
SQ5 appears to offer a useful adjunct to guide surgical management of the cosmetic rhinoplasty patient. Those patients who reported worse nasal self-esteem and associated mood preoperatively were more likely to request and undergo revision.

Uromodulin modulates the sodium-potassium-two-chloride transporter in the thick ascending limb of the loop of Henle, and its overexpression in murine models leads to salt-induced hypertension. We hypothesized that individuals with higher baseline levels of urine uromodulin would have a greater increase in systolic blood pressure (SBP) for the same increase in sodium compared with those with lower uromodulin levels.
We used data from 157 subjects randomized to the control diet of the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH)-Sodium trial who were assigned to 30 days of low (1,500 mg/d), medium (2,400 mg/d), and high salt (3,300 mg/d) diets in random order. Blood pressure was measured prerandomization and then weekly during each feeding period. We evaluated the association of prerandomization urine uromodulin with change in SBP between diets, as measured at the end of each feeding period, using multivariable linear regression.
Baseline urine uromodulin stratified by tertiles was ≤17.64, 17.65-31.97, and ≥31.98 µg/ml. Across the tertiles, there were no significant differences in SBP at baseline, nor was there a differential effect of sodium diet on SBP across tertiles (low to high, P = 0.81). After adjusting for age, sex, body mass index, and race, uromodulin levels were not significantly associated with SBP change from low to high sodium diet (P = 0.42).

Respiratory samples (n=74) were collected for viral culture, serum samples for measurement of IgM/IgG levels (n=30), and plasma samples for levels of inflammatory cytokines and chemokines (n=81). Disease severity was correlated with results from viral culture, serologic testing, and immune markers.

Patients that received a high dose of vitamin D supplementation achieved normalization of vitamin D levels and improved clinical recovery evidenced by shorter lengths of stay, lower oxygen requirements, and a reduction in inflammatory marker status.
Vitamin D supplementation may serve as a viable alternative for curtailing acute respiratory distress syndrome in patients in underserved communities where resources to expensive and sought-after medications may be scarce. Randomized clinical trials will serve as an appropriate vessel to validate the efficacy of the therapeutic regimen and dissection of the pathway.

As a result of limited treatment options available for this disease, there is huge economic burden for patients and social health care system. Thus, alternative approaches (lifestyle intervention) to prevent this disease are extremely important. In this systemic review, we summarized epidemiological evidence of lifestyle intervention and the mechanisms involved in delaying and/or preventing AD. Lifestyle interventions include education, social engagement and cognitive stimulation, smoking, exercise, depression and psychological stress, cerebrovascular disease (CVD), hypertension (HTN), dyslipidaemia, diabetes mellitus (DM), obesity and diet. The methods are based on a literature review of available sources found on the research topic in four acknowledged databases Web of Science, Scopus, Medline and PubMed. Results of the identified original studies revealed that lifestyle interventions have significant effects and our conclusion is that combination of early lifestyle interventions can decrease the risk of developing AD.Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a common form of age-related dementia that mostly affects the aging population. With recent advances in research, the commonly held view that AD-related cerebral pathology causes visual dysfunction through disruption of central visual pathways has been re-examined. Currently, several studies have already explored how AD manifests in the retina and the possibility of using the same retina as a window to non-invasively examine AD-related pathology in the brain. Non-invasive screening of AD through the retina has the potential to improve on early detection and management of the disease since the majority of AD cases are usually diagnosed very late. The purpose of this review is to provide evidence on the involvement of the retina in AD and to suggest a possible direction for future research into the non-invasive screening, diagnosis, and monitoring of AD using the retina.

Corticosteroid therapy at the time of ICU admission [odds ratio (OR) 0.07] and cancer progression (OR 0.09) was independently associated with continuation of anticancer therapy. The mortality rate 1year after ICU admission was 73%. On multivariate analysis, continuation of anticancer therapy (OR 0.18) and Karnofsky performance status on admission (OR 0.90) were independently associated with lower 1-year mortality.
The presence of high-grade glioma is not sufficient to justify refusal of intensive care unit admission. Performance status and continuation of anticancer therapy are associated with higher survival after intensive care unit discharge.

Since Ru-MOF is a two-dimensional conductive material signal unit overlapped onto the electrode surface to form a Faraday cage-type aptasensor. Thus, electrons could be easily exchanged between electrode and signal tags without being hindered by micron-size VP, resulting in a high detection sensitivity with a detection limit of 1.7 CFU mL-1. In addition, dual-mode detection was achieved, improving the accuracy and reliability of rapid field detection. Stability and selectivity were also satisfactory. The dynamic response of pressure monitoring circuits must be evaluated to obtain true invasive blood pressure values. Since Gardner's recommendations in 1981, the natural frequency and the damping coefficient have become standard parameters for anesthesiologists. In 2006, we published a new dynamic response evaluation method (step response analysis) that can plot frequency spectrum curves instantly in clinical situations. We also described the possibility of the defect of the standard parameters. However, the natural frequency and the damping coefficient are considered the gold standard and are even included in a major anesthesiology textbook. Therefore, we attempted to clarify the issues of these parameters with easy-to-understand pressure waves and basic numerical formulae.

For each sample collected, 22 physical, chemical, and biological parameters were established. Principal component analysis (PCA) was used in the evaluation and selection of water quality variables to compose the WQI. From PCA, it was possible to reduce the number of parameters from 16 to 6 main ones that reflect the water resources characteristics in the region, which were pH, electrical conductivity, total hardness, sodium absorption ratio, nitrate, and Escherichia coli. Of the five classes proposed for WQI, two points were classified as "very good." The other sample points were classified as "good" and "average" for the irrigation practice. The adapted WQI proved to be a good tool in the management of the water quality of the three rivers, and it can be easily used to assess the quality of water for irrigation in the region.
Corticosteroid therapy at the time of ICU admission [odds ratio (OR) 0.07] and cancer progression (OR 0.09) was independently associated with continuation of anticancer therapy. The mortality rate 1year after ICU admission was 73%. There is an ongoing debate on which treatment for acetabular fractures in elderly patients is the most appropriate. This study was set up to identify the role of open reduction and internal fixation of acetabular fractures in persons of old age. We retrospectively reviewed the medical charts and radiological data of all patients older than 65years, who suffered an isolated acetabular fracture and were admitted in our Department between 2010 and 2014 (5-year period). Complications, outcome and mortality were recorded. Of all surviving patients, quality of life (QoL), mobility and independence were graded with European Quality of Life 5 Dimensions 3 Level (EQ-5D-3L), European Quality of Life 5 Dimensions Visual Analogue Scale (EQ-5D-VAS), Numeric Rating Scale (NRS), Elderly Mobility Scale (EMS) and Tinetti Mobility Test (TMT).
Seventy patients could be identified. There were 52 men (74%) and 18 women (26%) with a median age of 79.0years (range 65-104years). Forty-six patients (66%) had been treated with opearameters. Patients with secondary THA had similar good outcomes as patients after ORIF without later conversion. Men had better outcome than women.
ORIF of acetabular fractures in patients of old age results in excellent outcomes at short-term follow-up when anatomical reduction can be achieved. In case of negative predictive factors, ORIF cannot be regarded as a definitive solution, rather as the construction of a stable socket for secondary THA. The decision of therapy should be made dependent on pre-operative radiographic parameters.

The study objective was to compare the clinical results of reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (rTSA) and anatomical total shoulder arthroplasty (aTSA) in patients with osteoarthritis and intact rotator cuff. We hypothesised that the clinical results using rTSA would be comparable with those obtained with aTSA in this group of patients.
The study included 51 patients with shoulder osteoarthritis and intact rotator cuff who underwent rTSA or aTSA. The range of motion, Constant-Murley score and strength in external rotation were recorded pre-operatively and at the twoyear follow-up. Subjective post-operative results were measured using the subjective shoulder value (SSV) score and a satisfaction questionnaire.
The post-operative improvement was significant in both groups, subjectively and concerning all parameters of the Constant-Murley score. Post-operatively, no significant difference was noted between the two groups for active anterior elevation (AAE), active external rotation (ER), internal rotation (IR) or Constant-Murley score (67 ± 12 in the rTSA group vs 71 ± 11 in the aTSA group). An exception was the Constant-Murley range of motion sub-score, which was better in the aTSA group (p = 0.028). No significant complications necessitating revision surgery were encountered.
Our findings are consistent with previous studies showing good results of rTSA with shoulder osteoarthritis and intact rotator cuff with a good restoration of the IR, similar to that obtained with aTSA.

Neurobehavioral disturbances (e.g., behavioral manifestations of frontal-subcortical dysfunction) are also prevalent in HIV, yet the role MetS might play in HIV-associated neurobehavioral disturbances is unknown. Thus, we examined the link between MetS and neurobehavioral disturbances in PLWH. Participants included 215 adults (117 PLWH, 98 HIV-uninfected), aged 36 to 65 years, from a cohort study at the University of California San Diego. Using the Frontal Systems Behavior Scale, we captured neurobehavioral disturbances (apathy, disinhibition, and executive dysfunction). MetS was defined by the National Cholesterol Education Program's Adult Treatment Panel-III criteria. Covariates examined included demographic, neurocognitive impairment, and psychiatric characteristics. When controlling for relevant covariates, both HIV serostatus and MetS were independently associated with greater apathy and executive dysfunction.

A descriptive cross-sectional design, using aself-report survey was conducted on 430 nurses from a teaching hospital from February to April 2019. A structural equation model version 3 was used for testing study hypotheses.
The mediating effect (indirect effect) of organizational commitment on the relationship between work life quality and turnover intention (QWL→OC→IT) was negative with path coefficient - 0.234, whereas the direct effect of work life quality on turnover intention (QWL→IT) was negative with smaller path coefficient - 0.228. This means thatthe relationship between work life quality and turnover intention was partially mediated by the organizational commitment (P < 0.001).

We hypothesized that there would be variability among radiologists and between subspecialities within radiology regarding the use of uncertainty terms and that the length of the impression of a report would be a predictor of use of uncertainty terms. Finally, we hypothesized that use of uncertainty terms would often be interpreted by human readers as "hedging." To test these hypotheses, we applied a natural language processing (NLP) algorithm to assess and count the number of uncertainty terms within radiology reports. An algorithm was created to detect usage of a published set of uncertainty terms. In the last decades, the use of internet has increased many folds, and internet addiction has become a severe public health issue around the world. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of internet addiction among young adults (19-35years) in Bangladesh and to identify factors associated with it.
A total of 454 participants were selected from three administrative divisions of Bangladesh using multistage cluster sampling for this cross-sectional study. A self-reported questionnaire was used to collect data which included Young's 20 items internet addiction test to assess internet addiction.
The overall prevalence of internet addiction was 27.1%. Addiction rate was 28.6% in the subgroup 19-24years and 23.5% among 25-35years old. In both chi-square and logistic regression analyses, internet addiction was significantly associated with living setup, time spent daily on the internet, a detached family relationship, physical activity, and smoking habit (p < 0.05). Spending time on social media websites was the most common online activity among the participants.
Our study revealed a relatively high prevalence of internet addiction among younger participants. A detached family relationship and living away from the family were significant determinants along other factors. Therefore, it is important to raise awareness among young generation and their parents towards predictors of internet addiction.

Describe the ACGME's changes to the PGY-1year in urology and discuss the benefits and challenges faced by training programs.
There are no publications detailing the integration of the PGY-1year in urology; however, response of other surgical subspecialties to their own integration has been studied. Benefits of integration include earlier exposure to techniques and knowledge specific to urology, potentially leading to increased preparedness for next steps in training and exams. Program directors have more flexibility to select rotations relevant to urology. Resident wellness may be improved as interns are incorporated into the department earlier and can help distribute the workload for senior residents. Challenges include decreased exposure to basic surgical knowledge and skills, decreased camaraderie with general surgery colleagues, and difficulties associated with evaluating interns who are spending limited time with urology departments. Overall, the change seems to have a positive impact on urological training.

A total of 454 participants were selected from three administrative divisions of Bangladesh using multistage cluster sampling for this cross-sectional study. A self-reported questionnaire was used to collect data which included Young's 20 items internet addiction test to assess internet addiction. The overall prevalence of internet addiction was 27.1%. Addiction rate was 28.6% in the subgroup 19-24years and 23.5% among 25-35years old. In both chi-square and logistic regression analyses, internet addiction was significantly associated with living setup, time spent daily on the internet, a detached family relationship, physical activity, and smoking habit (p < 0.05). Spending time on social media websites was the most common online activity among the participants. Our study revealed a relatively high prevalence of internet addiction among younger participants. A detached family relationship and living away from the family were significant determinants along other factors. Therefore, it is important to raise awareness among young generation and their parents towards predictors of internet addiction. There are no publications detailing the integration of the PGY-1year in urology; however, response of other surgical subspecialties to their own integration has been studied. Benefits of integration include earlier exposure to techniques and knowledge specific to urology, potentially leading to increased preparedness for next steps in training and exams. Program directors have more flexibility to select rotations relevant to urology. Resident wellness may be improved as interns are incorporated into the department earlier and can help distribute the workload for senior residents. Challenges include decreased exposure to basic surgical knowledge and skills, decreased camaraderie with general surgery colleagues, and difficulties associated with evaluating interns who are spending limited time with urology departments. In the case of small-scale injury skeletal muscle is capable of endogenous regeneration through activation of resident satellite cells (SCs). However, this is greatly reduced in VML injuries, which remove native biophysical and biochemical signaling cues and hinder the damaged tissue's ability to direct regeneration. The current clinical treatment for VML is autologous tissue transfer, but graft failure and scar tissue formation leave patients with limited functional recovery. Tissue engineering of instructive biomaterial scaffolds offers a promising approach for treating VML injuries. Herein, we review the strategic engineering of biophysical and biochemical cues in current scaffold designs that aid in restoring function to these preclinical VML injuries. We also discuss the successes and limitations of the three main biomaterial-based strategies to treat VML injuries acellular scaffolds, cell-delivery scaffolds, and in vitro tissue engineered constructs. Finally, we examine several innovative approaches to enhancing the design of the next generation of engineered scaffolds to improve the functional regeneration of skeletal muscle following VML injuries.A higher propensity of developing brain metastasis exists in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). In both Japan and England, lower income and educational attainment were significantly associated with a higher risk of being edentulous. Education-based SII in Japan and England were 9.9% and 26.7%, respectively, and RII were 2.5 and 4.8, respectively. Chicken GNB1L is upregulated in the breast muscle of high feed efficiency chickens, and its expression is 1.52-fold that in low feed efficiency chickens. However, no report has described the effects of GNB1L indels on the chicken carcass and growth traits.
This study identified a 31-bp indel in the 5' untranslated region (UTR) of GNB1L and elucidated the effect of this gene mutation on the carcass and growth traits in chickens. The 31-bp indel showed a highly significant association with the body weight at 8 different stages and was significantly correlated with daily gains at 0 to 4 weeks and 4 to 8 weeks. Similarly, the mutation was significantly associated with small intestine length, breast width, breast depth and breast muscle weight. Moreover, DD and ID were superior genotypes for chicken growth and carcass traits.

Previous studies have reported that electrical stimulation of the motor cortex is effective in reducing trigeminal neuropathic pain; however, the effects of optical motor cortex stimulation remain unclear.
The present study aimed to investigate whether optical stimulation of the primary motor cortex can modulate chronic neuropathic pain in rats with infraorbital nerve constriction injury.
Animals were randomly divided into a trigeminal neuralgia group, a sham group, and a control group. Trigeminal neuropathic pain was generated via constriction of the infraorbital nerve and animals were treated via selective inhibition of calcitonin gene-related peptide in the trigeminal ganglion. We assessed alterations in behavioral responses in the pre-stimulation, stimulation, and post-stimulation conditions. In vivo extracellular recordings were obtained from the ventral posteromedial nucleus of the thalamus, and viral and α-CGRP expression were investigated in the primary motor cortex and trigeminal ganglion, respectively.

Tissue-specific fat deposition is regulated by a series of complex regulatory mechanisms. Reports indicate that epigenetic regulators, such as circular RNAs (circRNAs), are crucial in diseases progression, animal development, metabolism, and adipogenesis. In this study, to assess the functional roles of circRNAs in adipogenesis and tissue-specific fat deposition, we comprehensively analyzed the Ribo-Zero RNA-Seq and miRNAs data during chicken intramuscular and abdominal adipogenic differentiation.

It was also discovered that high levels of downregulated miRNAs potentially promote adipogenesis by activating their target genes which are associated with fatty acid metabolism and adipogenic differentiation. Through analysis of the correlation between the expression levels of circRNAs and adipogenic genes, as well as the dynamic expression patterns of circRNAs during adipogenic differentiation, several candidate circRNAs were identified. Moreover, competing endogenous RNA (ceRNAs) networks were constructed during chicken intramuscular and abdominal adipogenesis by combining miRNAs with mRNAs data. Advance applications like water splitting system and rechargeable metal-air battery are highly dependent on efficient electrocatalyst for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Heterostructured materials, with a high active surface area and electron effect, accomplish enhanced catalytic performance. Here, a nitride-sulfide composite (FeNi3N-Ni3S2) has been prepared by a simple hydrothermal process coupled with nitridation. The prepared composite electrocatalyst FeNi3N-Ni3S2 possesses lower electron densities compared to those of FeNi3N and Ni3S2, lessening the activation energy (Ea) toward the OER. Consequently, the prepared FeNi3N-Ni3S2 exhibits excellent OER performance with a low overpotential (230 mV) and a small Tafel slope (38 mV dec-1). Highly stable FeNi3N-Ni3S2 composite delivers lower charging voltage and extended lifetime in rechargeable Zn-air battery, compared with IrO2.As pure lubricants, ILs performed very well by forming the classical self-assembly bilayer at the sliding interface. Rats inhaled oxygen or H2 + oxygen after achieving shock either in the presence or absence of an XOR inhibitor (XOR-I) for both the groups. In a second test, rats received oxygen alone or antitumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α monoclonal antibody with oxygen or H2. Two hours after resuscitation, XOR activity, purine metabolites, cytokines, syndecan-1 were measured and survival rates were assessed 6 h after resuscitation.

Advance applications like water splitting system and rechargeable metal-air battery are highly dependent on efficient electrocatalyst for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Heterostructured materials, with a high active surface area and electron effect, accomplish enhanced catalytic performance. Here, a nitride-sulfide composite (FeNi3N-Ni3S2) has been prepared by a simple hydrothermal process coupled with nitridation. The prepared composite electrocatalyst FeNi3N-Ni3S2 possesses lower electron densities compared to those of FeNi3N and Ni3S2, lessening the activation energy (Ea) toward the OER. Consequently, the prepared FeNi3N-Ni3S2 exhibits excellent OER performance with a low overpotential (230 mV) and a small Tafel slope (38 mV dec-1). Highly stable FeNi3N-Ni3S2 composite delivers lower charging voltage and extended lifetime in rechargeable Zn-air battery, compared with IrO2.As pure lubricants, ILs performed very well by forming the classical self-assembly bilayer at the sliding interface. The interface mechanism is still not clear in a very polar, e.g., water-based lubricating system. In this work, the interfacial absorption and tribological behavior of carboxylic alkanolamine ionic liquids (CAILs) serving as aqueous lubricating additives were studied by applying positive and negative potentials on the friction pair, accompanied by the comprehensive discussion of data from critical micelle concentration, quartz crystal microbalance, ECR, and MD results. The results reveal that the adsorption behavior, unexpectedly, was affected by the high polarity of H2O, where a less dense double-layer structure is observed at the interface by model imitation. Conversely, the monomolecular adsorption layer constructed electrostatically between the polar head (-COO-) and the positive base dominates the tribofilm. Meanwhile, the cations are partially accumulating around anions in the presence of static electricity, which does not form a neat and dense one-to-one corresponding cation-anion pair. In the solution, the IL maintains a state of dissociation and minor agglomeration. In the bridge position, PCI, DCI, IRP, and expiratory and inspiratory EGJ pressure were significantly higher than those in the upright position (bridge PCI vs. upright PCI [p = 0.001], bridge DCI vs. upright DCI [p less then 0.001], bridge IRP vs. upright IRP [p = 0.018], bridge EGJ pressure vs. upright EGJ pressure [expiratory p = 0.001] [inspiratory p less then 0.001]). PBs were significantly shorter and DL was significantly longer in the bridge position compared to upright (bridge PBs vs. upright PBs [p = 0.001], bridge DL vs. upright DL [p = 0.001]). This fruit contains high levels of garcinol, isoxanthochymol, isogarcinol, hydroxycitric acid and xanthochymol. Garcinol and hydroxycitric acid have been shown to have antioxidant effects. In this study, rats were assigned to sham, control, low-dose, high-dose and positive control groups. Hemodynamic and apoptotic markers were evaluated, and histopathological analysis was conducted. The mRNA and protein levels of caspase-3, Bax, Bcl-2 and cleaved caspase-3 were quantified. Garcinol treatment increased the heart rate and improved the maximum rate of increase in left-ventricle (LV) pressure (+dp/dtmax), maximum rate of decrease in LV pressure (-dp/dtmax), LV ejection fraction and LV systolic pressure in rats with induced heart failure. Garcinol treatment reversed body, liver and heart weight changes, resulting in returns to near-normal levels. In the garcinol treatment group, the number of broken fibers, extent of inflammatory cell infiltration and rate of apoptosis remained within normal ranges. Garcinol reduced the cross-sectional areas of cardiomyocytes, and reduced interstitial fibrosis to a normal level. The mRNA and protein levels of cleaved caspase-3, caspase-3 and Bax were reduced, whereas those of Bcl-2 were increased, following high-dose (100 mg/kg) garcinol treatment. These findings suggest that garcinol effectively prevents apoptosis in rats with isoproterenol-induced heart failure and in cardiac H9C2 cells.Epithelial-myoepithelial carcinoma (EMCa) is a rare low-grade salivary malignancy.
