To observe the incidence of malnutrition and nutritional risk in children with pneumonia on mechanical ventilation in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), and to explore the nutritional support effect of short-peptide enteral nutrition formula.
A total of 68 children with severe pneumonia who were hospitalized in the PICU from October 2017 to October 2018 and required mechanical ventilation were enrolled for a prospective randomized controlled study. The children were randomly divided into a control group and an experimental group. Through the nasogastric feeding tube, the experimental group received the short-peptide enteral nutrition formula, and the control group received the intact-protein enteral nutrition formula. The weight-for-age Z score, STRONGkids nutritional risk score, and pediatric critical illness score of the two groups were evaluated. The serum levels of total protein, albumin, and prealbumin (PA) on admission and before discharge were measured. The gastrointestinal tolerance and clirition and nutritional risk in children with pneumonia on mechanical ventilation are relatively high. To investigate the incidence of systemic reactions (SR) to subcutaneous immunotherapy (SCIT) for bronchial asthma and/or allergic rhinitis in children and their risk factors.
A retrospective analysis was performed on 198 children with bronchial and/or allergic rhinitis. According to the presence or absence of SR and local reactions (LR) during SCIT, the patients were divided into two groups SR (with SR and LR, n=31) and control (without SR or LR, n=142). A multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to determine the risk factors associated with SR.
Among the 198 patients who received 8 157 injections of SCIT, 25 (12.6%) experienced SR (31 times, 0.38%), including grade I SR (18 times, 58%), grade II SR (10 times, 32%), grade III SR (3 times, 10%), and no grade IV SR. To investigate the respiratory pathogens and clinical features in children with acute exacerbation of bronchial asthma.
Nasopharyngeal swabs were collected from 225 children with acute exacerbation of bronchial asthma, aged <14 years, who attended the outpatient service or were hospitalized from August 2017 to August 2019. Quantitative real-time PCR was used to detect 12 pathogens, i.e., respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), human rhinovirus (HRV), influenza virus A (IFVA), influenza virus B (IFVB), parainfluenza virus types 1-3 (PIV1-3), human metapneumovirus (HMPV), adenovirus (ADV), Bordetella pertussis (BP), Chlamydia pneumoniae (CP), and Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP).
The overall detection rate of virus was 46.2% (104/225), and 7 kinds of viruses were detected, i.e., HRV (19.6%, 44/225), ADV (16.0%, 36/225), IFVB (5.8%, 13/225), RSV (4.9%, 11/225), IFVA (3.6%, 8/225), PIV3 (1.8%, 4/225), and HMPV (0.4%, 1/225). Of all pathogens, BP had the highest detection rate of 28.4% (64/225), and the detection ratory virus infection is an important pathogen of acute exacerbation of asthma in children. A total of 44 children with NB who were admitted from April 2016 to February 2020 were enrolled as research subjects. A retrospective analysis was performed on their medical data and follow-up data.
The common clinical symptoms of these 44 children were fever (10/44, 23%), mass (9/44, 20%), abdominal pain (8/44, 18%), cough (7/44, 16%), pale complexion (3/44, 7%), claudication (2/44, 5%), and abnormal activity (2/44, 5%). According to the INSS stage, 2 children (4%) had stage I NB, 5 children (11%) had stage II NB, 5 children (11%) had stage III NB, and 32 children (73%) had stage IV NB. The mean follow-up time was (15.3±1.5) months, with a recurrence rate of 20% and an overall survival rate of 82%. ED-initiated addiction treatment holds promise for enhancing access to treatment for those with opioid use disorder (OUD). We present a literature review summarizing the evidence for buprenorphine induction in the ED including best practices for dosing, follow-up care, and reducing implementation barriers. A literature search of Pubmed, PsychInfo, and Embase identified articles studying OUD treatment in the ED published after 1980. Twenty-five studies were identified including eleven scientific abstracts. Multiple studies suggest that buprenorphine induction improves engagement in substance treatment up to 30 days after ED treatment. Many different induction protocols were presented, but no particular approach was best supported as criteria for induction and initial dosing vary widely. https://www.selleckchem.com/HIF.html Similarly, transition of care models focused on either a "hub and spoke" model or "warm hand-offs" model, but no studies compared these approaches. Laparotomy is commonly indicated in patients presenting blunt or penetrating trauma. This cross-sectional study is designed to evaluate the frequency and the causes of laparotomy following abdominal trauma.
The data of 71 patients who underwent laparotomy as a result of abdominal trauma in Shohada Ashayer Hospital, Khorramabad were evaluated and a questionnaire was completed for each patient. All the data were analyzed statistically using SPSS.
Of 71 patients, 61 underwent positive laparotomy whereas, negative laparotomy was performed in 10 patients. The results from this study showed that the most common organ of the injury was spleen (19.7%), followed by other solid organs. The small intestine (16.4%) was found more prone to injuries in penetrating trauma. Incidence of blunt trauma injury due to road accidents was the greatest 50.82% and 20% of penetrating traumas were the result of a firearm.
Abdominal trauma injury is common in our study population where spleen, small intestine and other solid organs are chiefly involved. Indications of laparotomy should be fully examined in order to avoid negative laparotomies and associated complications.

Chest pain is a common symptom in patients visiting the emergency department (ED). Diagnosing acute coronary syndrome is a challenging task for emergency physicians. Evaluation of chest pain depends on clinical symptoms and signs, ECG, and cardiac enzymes. Here, we aimed to compare the diagnostic performance of the point-of-care troponin I assay with laboratory HsTnT assay in patients presenting to the ED with chest pain.
A prospective study was done at the ED of Alkhor Hospital, Hamad Medical Corporation, between March 2016 and December 2016. Patients more than 18 years old who presented to the ED with chest pain were enrolled. Patients with renal failure, initial ECG showing ST-elevation MI, or arrhythmias, and hemodynamically unstable patients were excluded. A blood sample was collected at 0 and 3 hours post-admission for POC TnI and laboratory HsTnT assay. The sensitivity, specificity, PPV, NPV, and AUC were determined and compared.
Out of 313 patients enrolled, ten were excluded. At 0 hour, the POC TnI assay had a lower sensitivity (72.5% versus 97.5%) and had almost equal specificity (99.24% versus 93.2%) when compared to lab HsTnT assay. At 3 hours post-admission, the sensitivity increased to 95% versus 100%, and specificity was 100% versus 94.3% when compared to lab HsTnT. The POC TnI assay had a higher PPV than HsTnT, whereas both assays showed a high NPV at 0 and 3 hours.
Although the diagnostic performance of POC TnI was lower than that of Lab HsTnT at 0 hour, at 3 hours post-admission, the diagnostic performance was almost equal to that of HsTnT. Hence we conclude that chest pain in patients with a negative POC TnI at 3 hours post-admission is unlikely to be due to NSTEMI.

This can be challenging as there are various other conditions that may mimic the presentation of testicular torsion. Since testicular torsion is an extremely time-sensitive diagnosis, it may also be a subject of many medicolegal challenges. This review article serves as a guide for clinicians involved with the diagnosis and management of testicular torsion. We review and discuss detection and management strategies based on their validity, statistical significance, and effectiveness in enabling prompt diagnosis and management of testicular torsion. Medicolegal implications of testicular torsion are also highlighted.
Prolonged emergency department stays can adversely affect patient outcomes leading to an increased length of hospital admission and higher mortality. Despite this fact, there are few data describing emergency department length of stay and associated factors in Ethiopia.

A semi-structured questionnaire was used to collect data through interview, observation and medical record review. The collected data were cleaned, entered to Epi-data 3.1 and exported to SPSS version 21 for binary and multivariable logistic regression analysis. End-of-life care is costly, and decedents often experience overtreatment or low-quality care. Noninvasive ventilation (NIV) may be a palliative approach to avoid invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV) among select patients who are hospitalized at the end of life.
To examine the trends in NIV and IMV use among decedents with a hospitalization in the last 30 days of life.
This population-based cohort study used a 20% random sample of Medicare fee-for-service beneficiaries who had an acute care hospitalization in the last 30 days of life and died between January 1, 2000, and December 31, 2017. Sociodemographic, diagnosis, and comorbidity data were obtained from Medicare claims data. Data analysis was performed from September 2019 to July 2020.

This study found that the use of NIV rapidly increased from 2000 through 2017 among Medicare beneficiaries at the end of life, especially among persons with cancer and dementia. The findings suggest that trials to evaluate the outcomes of NIV are warranted to inform discussions about the goals of this therapy between clinicians and patients and their health care proxies.

Language-comfort data were cing 1 or more adverse events compared with children whose parents expressed comfort with English (26 of 147 [17.7%] vs 146 of 1519 [9.6%]; adjusted odds ratio, 2.1; 95% CI, 1.2-3.7), after adjustment for parent race and education, complex chronic conditions, length of stay, site, and the intervention period. Similarly, children whose parents expressed LCE were more likely to experience 1 or more preventable adverse events (adjusted odds ratio, 2.3; 95% CI, 1.2-4.2).

End-of-life care is costly, and decedents often experience overtreatment or low-quality care. Noninvasive ventilation (NIV) may be a palliative approach to avoid invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV) among select patients who are hospitalized at the end of life. To examine the trends in NIV and IMV use among decedents with a hospitalization in the last 30 days of life. This population-based cohort study used a 20% random sample of Medicare fee-for-service beneficiaries who had an acute care hospitalization in the last 30 days of life and died between January 1, 2000, and December 31, 2017. Sociodemographic, diagnosis, and comorbidity data were obtained from Medicare claims data. Data analysis was performed from September 2019 to July 2020. Use of NIV or IMV. Validated International Classification of Diseases, Ninth Revision, Clinical Modification or International Statistical Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision, Clinical Modification procedure codes were reviewed to identify use of NIV, IMV, bdays of life (57.7% [95% CI, 56.2%-59.3%] vs 63.0% [95% CI, 60.9%-65.1%]) were observed along with higher rates of hospice enrollment (41.3% [95% CI, 40.4%-42.3%] vs 20.0% [95% CI, 19.2%-20.7%]). These results supported the clinical utility of multigene panel to increase the detection of P/LP carriers and to identify new actionable pathogenic gene variants useful for preventive and therapeutic approaches.Lung neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs) can be challenging to classify due to subtle histologic differences between pathological types. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small RNA molecules that are valuable markers in many neoplastic diseases. To evaluate miRNAs as classificatory markers for lung NENs, we generated comprehensive miRNA expression profiles from 14 typical carcinoid (TC), 15 atypical carcinoid (AC), 11 small cell lung carcinoma (SCLC), and 15 large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma (LCNEC) samples, through barcoded small RNA sequencing. Following sequence annotation and data preprocessing, we randomly assigned these profiles to discovery and validation sets. Through high expression analyses, we found that miR-21 and -375 are abundant in all lung NENs, and that miR-21/miR-375 expression ratios are significantly lower in carcinoids (TC and AC) than in neuroendocrine carcinomas (NECs; SCLC and LCNEC). Subsequently, we ranked and selected miRNAs for use in miRNA-based classification, to discriminate carcinoids from NECs. Using miR-18a and -155 expression, our classifier discriminated these groups in discovery and validation sets, with 93% and 100% accuracy. We also identified miR-17, -103, and -127, and miR-301a, -106b, and -25, as candidate markers for discriminating TC from AC, and SCLC from LCNEC, respectively. Endotoxin-containing pathogen derived Akt+ IKKα/β+ Rab5+ signalosome, together with augmented the recruitment of Sec61 toward endosome, lead to the increased cross-presentation in BMPC. There is an imperative need of reliable biomarkers to stratify prostate cancer patients that may benefit from different management approaches. The integration of biomarkers panel with risk assessment models appears to improve prostate cancer diagnosis and management. However, integration of novel genomic biomarkers in future prognostic models requires further validation in their clinical efficacy, standardization, and cost-effectiveness in routine application.Powdery mildew fungi (Erysiphales) are among the most common and important plant fungal pathogens. These fungi are obligate biotrophic parasites that attack nearly 10,000 species of angiosperms, including major crops, such as cereals and grapes. The pulse energy of this source largely exceeds other laser driven attosecond sources and is comparable to the pulse energy of femtosecond Free-Electron-Laser (FEL) XUV sources. The measured pulse duration in the attosecond pulse train is 650 ± 80 asec. The uniqueness of the combined high intensity and short pulse duration of the source is evidenced in non-linear XUV-optics experiments. For ACPP and LuAE00527, strong hydrophobic interactions with this residue hinder its mobility and prevent the uptake and the efflux of substrates. Pain score using numerical rating scale (NRS) and postoperative intravenous fentanyl were evaluated for the first 24 postoperative hours. Median values (interquartile range) of NRS scores when the patients were transferred to post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) were 5 (2-7) in Ropivacaine group and 6 (4-8) in Control group at rest (P = 0.03), 5 (2-8) in Ropivacaine group and 7 (5-8) in Control group during movement (P less then 0.01). These significant differences disappeared at the time of discharging PACU. Fentanyl doses for the first 24 postoperative hours were 210 µg (120-360) in Ropivacaine group and 200 µg (120-370) in Control group (P = 0.79). These results indicated that subcostal TAP block by anesthesiologists of varied level of training reduced postoperative pain immediate after RALP. The pulse energy of this source largely exceeds other laser driven attosecond sources and is comparable to the pulse energy of femtosecond Free-Electron-Laser (FEL) XUV sources. The measured pulse duration in the attosecond pulse train is 650 ± 80 asec. The uniqueness of the combined high intensity and short pulse duration of the source is evidenced in non-linear XUV-optics experiments. While it seems indisputable that potable water contains microplastics (MP), the actual concentrations are **** debated and reported numbers vary many orders of magnitude. It is difficult to pinpoint the cause of these differences, but it might be variation between waters, variation between quantification methods, and that some studies did not live up to rigorous analytical standards. Despite the urgent need to understand human exposure by drinking water, there is a lack of trustable methods generating reliable data. Essentially, proper MP assessment requires that quality assurance is in place and demonstrated, that an adequate volume of drinking water is assessed, and that differences in analytical methods are understood. This study presents a systematic and robust approach where MP down to 6.6 µm were assessed in potable water distribution systems in terms of quantity, size, shape, and material. For the first time, sub-samples were analysed by two of the most validated and complementary analytical techniques µFTIR imaging and Py-GCMS. Both methods successfully determined low contents in drinking water. However, µFTIR and Py-GCMS identified different polymer types in samples with overall low MP content. With increasing concentration of a given polymer type, the values determined by the techniques became more comparable. Most detected MPs were smaller than 150 µm, and 32% were smaller than 20 µm. Our results indicate a potential annual uptake of less than one MP per person, suggesting that drinking potable water produced at a high-performance drinking water treatment plant represents a low risk for human health.Natural swimming ponds (NSPs) are artificially created bodies of water intended for human recreation, characterised by the substitution of chemical disinfection with natural biological processes for water purification. NSPs are growing in popularity, however little is known regarding the public health risks. A screening level risk assessment was undertaken as an initial step in assessing the first Canadian public NSP located in Edmonton, Alberta. Risk of enteric pathogens originating from pool bathers was assessed under normal conditions and following accidental faecal release events. The performance of the natural treatment train for health protection was quantified with and without the addition of UV disinfection of naturally-treated water, and compared to the US EPA benchmark to provide a reference point to consider acceptability. Estimated levels of pathogen contamination of the pond were dependant upon the discrete number of shedders present, which in turn depended upon the prevalence of infection in the population. Overall performance of the natural disinfection system was dependant upon the filtration rate of the natural treatment system or turnover time. Addition of UV disinfection reduced the uncertainty around the removal efficacy, and mitigated the impact of larger shedding events, however the impact of UV disinfection on the natural treatment biome is unknown. Further information is needed on the performance of natural barriers for pathogen removal, and therefore challenge studies are recommended. Given the identified risks, the pool is posted that there is risk from accidental faecal releases, as in any natural water body with swimmers. The purpose of this research is to measure the combing impact of corporate social responsibility on company performance and to conduct a comparative analysis among local and foreign companies in this context. This research aims to conduct an empirical analysis about how corporate social responsibility contributes to company performance. The study utilizes AHP and fuzzy TOPSIS theory to conduct research. The results revealed that environmental corporate social responsibility has a vital role in the development of organizational reputation and employee commitment. It can be observed from the results that the weights of environmental CSR, corporate CSR, financial CSR, and social CSR are 0.30, 0.25, 0.24, and 0.21, respectively. The preference of these four criteria is environmental CSR > corporate CSR > financial CSR > social CSR. The corporate CSR criterion got the maximum weight of 0.30, whereas the social CSR criteria received the lowest weight of 0.21. The financial CSR get weights of criteria 0.25, and the commercial potential obtained 0.24 weights, while the financial CSR got the 2nd highest criteria weight of 0.25, and the social CSR get weights of criteria 0.21 lowest weighted. The research provides valuable information for decision-makers. The study provides a valuable information for policy makers.In this work, copper hexaferrite (CuFe12O19) nanostructures are successfully synthesized by the sol-gel autocombustion route. Two natural reagents containing pomegranate and beetroot juices are used as green and eco-friendly fuels for synthesis of the nanostructures. The nanostructures are characterized by different techniques such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM), and diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS). The results show an appropriate amount of pomegranate juice as a fuel source creating a suitable route for synthesis of CuFe12O19 nanostructures. Therefore, the nanostructures are applied for degradation of different water contaminants containing eosin, erythrosine, rhodamin B, and methyl violet dyes. The comparison of the results shows that the nanostructures are a good photocatalyst for degradation of erythrosine. Therefore, green CuFe12O19 nanostructures can be a good candidate as UV light catalyst for removal of wastewater contaminations.In the scope of the study, the protective effect of hesperidin (HES), a flavanone glycoside, was investigated against sodium arsenite (NaAsO2, SA) induced heart and brain toxicity. In addition, as a result of histopathological examination, it was determined that SA damaged tissue architecture, and as a result of immunohistochemical examination, it increased cardiac Bcl-2-associated X protein (Bax) and cerebral glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) expression. The results have also shown that HES co-treatment has an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiapoptotic effect on SA-induced toxicity and aids to protect tissue architecture by showing a regulatory effect on all values. The current research presents the application of machine learning (ML) models in groundwater salinity mapping based on the dichotomous predictions. The groundwater salinity is predicted using the essential factors (i.e., identified by the simulated annealing feature selection methodology) through k-fold cross-validation methodology. Six ML models, namely, flexible discriminant analysis (FDA), mixture discriminant analysis (MAD), boosted regression tree (BRT), multivariate adaptive regression spline (MARS), random forest (RF), support vector machine (SVM), were employed to groundwater salinity mapping. The results of the modeling indicated that the SVM model had superior performance than other models. Variables of soil order, groundwater withdrawal, precipitation, land use, and elevation had the most contribute to groundwater salinity mapping. Results highlighted that the southern parts of the region and some parts in the north, northeast, and west have a high groundwater salinity, in which these areas are mostly matched with soil order of Entisols, bareland areas, and low elevations.In this study, the simultaneous degradation of antibiotics (ampicillin, sulfamethazine, and tetracycline; and non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (diclofenac and salicylic acid)) including the total organic carbon abatement by solar photoelectro-Fenton process was assessed. The pilot plant was equipped with an electrochemical filter press cell with a dimensionally stable anode (DSA type) and an air-diffusion cathode coupled to a solar photoreactor exposed directly to sunlight radiation. All pharmaceuticals were degraded during the first 10 min. A TOC removal efficiency of 99.2% after 100 min of treatment with an energy consumption of 534.23 kW h (kgTOC)-1 and 7.15 kW h m-3 was achieved. It can be observed from the results that the weights of environmental CSR, corporate CSR, financial CSR, and social CSR are 0.30, 0.25, 0.24, and 0.21, respectively. The groundwater salinity is predicted using the essential factors (i.e., identified by the simulated annealing feature selection methodology) through k-fold cross-validation methodology. Six ML models, namely, flexible discriminant analysis (FDA), mixture discriminant analysis (MAD), boosted regression tree (BRT), multivariate adaptive regression spline (MARS), random forest (RF), support vector machine (SVM), were employed to groundwater salinity mapping. The results of the modeling indicated that the SVM model had superior performance than other models. Variables of soil order, groundwater withdrawal, precipitation, land use, and elevation had the most contribute to groundwater salinity mapping. Cardiac arrhythmia is a prevalent and significant cause of morbidity and mortality among cardiac ailments. Early diagnosis is crucial in providing intervention for patients suffering from cardiac arrhythmia. Traditionally, diagnosis is performed by examination of the Electrocardiogram (ECG) by a cardiologist. This method of diagnosis is hampered by the lack of accessibility to expert cardiologists. For quite some time, signal processing methods had been used to automate arrhythmia diagnosis. However, these traditional methods require expert knowledge and are unable to model a wide range of arrhythmia. Recently, Deep Learning methods have provided solutions to performing arrhythmia diagnosis at scale. However, the black-box nature of these models prohibit clinical interpretation of cardiac arrhythmia. There is a dire need to correlate the obtained model outputs to the corresponding segments of the ECG. To this end, two methods are proposed to provide interpretability to the models. The first method is a novel application of Gradient-weighted Class Activation Map (Grad-CAM) for visualizing the saliency of the CNN model. In the second approach, saliency is derived by learning the input deletion mask for the LSTM model. The visualizations are provided on a model whose competence is established by comparisons against baselines. The parameters of the DSM quantify the degree of self-regulation and stress spillover, and are associated with work performance and cognitive ability in a multimodal dataset of 130 full-time hospital workers recorded over a 10-week period. Linear regression experiments indicate the effectiveness of the proposed features to reliably estimate individuals' work performance and cognitive ability, providing significantly higher Pearson's correlations compared to aggregate measures of emotional arousal. Results from this study demonstrate the importance of quantifying oscillatory behaviors from longitudinal ambulatory signals and can potentially deepen our understanding of emotion self-regulation and stress spillover using signal-driven measurements, which complement self-reports and provide estimates of the psychological constructs of interest in a fine-grained time resolution.

The decrease of soil C/N ratio and the imbalance of soil carbon pool structure have brought new challenges to soil health, crop yield and sustainable agricultural development.
The experiment was set up to explore the effect of modified biochar on soil bacterial community structure, and the correlation between soil environmental factors and bacterial community structure changes. Based on the plot experiment in the field, the effect of modified biochar was studied via high-throughput MiSeq sequencing.
Compared with the control (CK), the modified biochar (T) significantly increased soil water content, microbial biomass carbon (MBC), microbial biomass nitrogen (MBN) content and the ratio of ****and MBN by 7.92%, 24.58%, 2.07% and 18.95%. Diversity index analysis showed that the application of modified biochar significantly increased the Shannon index, ACE index and Chao1 index of the bacterial community by 3.05%, 5.07% and 5.24%. Compared with the control, the modified biochar decreased the relative abundance of Actinobacteriota and Chloroflex by 6.81% and 2.19%, and increased the relative abundance of Proteobacteria and Acidobacteriota by 7.34% and 12.52%. Correlation analysis shows that soil bulk density and water content may be important related factors that affect bacterial community structure.

Materials and methods Retrospective chart review was carried out in five consecutive patients identified to have had BPF after lung ablation between 2009 and 2017 who were treated with percutaneous administration of synthetic hydrogel surgical sealant using CT guidance. Results The procedure was successfully carried out in all patients without immediate complications, and complete resolution of air leak was achieved in four of five patients (80%). Up to the most recent follow-up, no evidence of delayed complications or recurrent air leak was present (follow-up range 1 week-8 years). In our study, human umbilical vascular endothelial cells (HUVECs) were stimulated with low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL) to establish an atherosclerotic cell model. Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) assay and TUNEL staining were performed to detect the cell activity and apoptosis of HUVECs, respectively. The levels of inflammatory cytokines and malondialdehyde and the activities of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), superoxide dismutase (***), and caspase-1 were quantified with commercial assay kits. Materials and methods Retrospective chart review was carried out in five consecutive patients identified to have had BPF after lung ablation between 2009 and 2017 who were treated with percutaneous administration of synthetic hydrogel surgical sealant using CT guidance. Results The procedure was successfully carried out in all patients without immediate complications, and complete resolution of air leak was achieved in four of five patients (80%). Up to the most recent follow-up, no evidence of delayed complications or recurrent air leak was present (follow-up range 1 week-8 years). Conclusion The authors' initial experience shows that targeted surgical sealant is a potentially safe and effective alternative treatment of post-ablation persistent air leak.Following publication of our article [1], we noticed an error in Fig. 1.Atherosclerosis is a chronic cardiovascular disease and contributes to pathogenesis of most myocardial infarction and ischemic stroke. Additionally, N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor plays a crucial role in myocardial infarction and ischemic strokes. The aim of our study was to investigate the underlying mechanisms of memantine (MEM), the blocker of NMDA receptors, in the development of atherosclerosis. In our study, human umbilical vascular endothelial cells (HUVECs) were stimulated with low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL) to establish an atherosclerotic cell model. Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) assay and TUNEL staining were performed to detect the cell activity and apoptosis of HUVECs, respectively. The levels of inflammatory cytokines and malondialdehyde and the activities of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and caspase-1 were quantified with commercial assay kits.
