Arterial hypertension is a disease that has a high impact on cardiovascular mortality and morbidity; however, it is still insufficiently controlled.
To assess hypertension control in patients seen at a specialized clinic and to identify associated variables.
Cross-sectional study involving the analysis of medical records from 782 patients treated in a highly complex outpatient clinic. Inclusion criteria age ≥18 years, diagnosed with hypertension, in treatment ≥6 months. Patients with secondary hypertension (104) and incomplete data (64) were excluded. The main outcome was blood pressure control (systolic <140 and diastolic <90 mmHg). The independent variables studied were sociodemographic and clinical characteristics (use of drugs, comorbidities and laboratory tests). Pearson's χ2 tests, Fisher's test, Student's t and Wilcoxon-Mann-Whitney tests were performed in the bivariate analysis and logistic regression in the multiple analyses, adopting p≤0.05.
The prevalence of hypertensive control was 51.1%. It was associated with a lack of control body mass index (OR = 1.038; 95% CI = 1.008 - 1.071), history of stroke (OR = 0.453; 95% CI = 0.245 - 0.821), left ventricular hypertrophy (OR = 1.765; 95% CI = 1.052 - 3.011), and number of medications (OR = 1.082; 95% CI = 1.033 - 1.136).

The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of SSO on high-fat/high-sucrose diet (HFHSD) induced insulin resistance (IR) in comparison with fish oil (FO), sunflower oil (SO) and linseed oil (**). Fifty male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into five dietary groups standard chow diet (controls), HFHSD plus 7% SSO, HFHSD plus 7% FO, HFHSD plus 7% SO and HFHSD plus 7% **. After 12 weeks of feeding, the rats were sacrificed, and the serum parameters, hepatic lipids and underlying molecular mechanisms were studied. SSO, FO or ** significantly prevented glucose intolerance, hyperglycaemia, obesity, and hepatic lipid accumulation, and decreased the homeostasis model assessment of IR (HOMA-IR) and the serum levels of pro-inflammatory factors (IL-6, IL-1β and TNF-α) compared with SO. In addition, SSO activated the PI3K/AKT insulin signaling pathway and down-regulated the JNK/NF-κB inflammatory signaling pathway in the liver. In this work, a multifunctional theranostic platform (MnO2-SiO2-APTES&Ce6 (MSA&C)) was fabricated based on MnO2 nanoflowers, which afforded MRI-guided synergistic therapy incorporating PDT and second near-infrared window (NIR-II) photothermal therapy (PTT). Herein, MnO2 nanoflowers are first proposed as a NIR-II photothermal agent. In the MSA&C system, MnO2 nanoflowers were employed for effective photosensitizer loading, relieving tumor hypoxia, and NIR-II PTT and tumor-specific imaging. The large amount of photosensitizer, reduced tumor hypoxia, and hyperthermia all contributed to the improvement of PDT. The quantity of reactive oxygen species (ROS) generated during PDT in turn down-regulated the expression of heat shock proteins (HSP 70), thereby improving photothermal performance. Positively charged (3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane (APTES) was used to promote cellular uptake, further improving treatment efficiency. We show that the method is capable of discriminating different cellular sub-populations, on the basis of their chemical content which is obtained from an unsupervised analysis, i.e. without prior knowledge. Specifically, in the organoids, we identify sub-populations of cells at different phases in the cell cycle, while in the brain tissue, we distinguish normal tissue from cancer cells, and, notably, tumours derived from transplanted cancer stem cells versus non-stem glioblastoma cells. The ability of the method to identify different sub-populations was validated by correlative fluorescence microscopy using fluorescent protein markers. The amine-terminated polyamidoamine dendrimer (Gx-PAMAM) mediated ROP of Nε-tert-butyloxycarbonyl-L-lysine N-carboxyanhydride (****L-Lys-NCA) and γ-benzyl-L-glutamic acid-based N-carboxyanhydride (PBLG-NCA) was able to prepare star PLL homo- and copolymers with 400 residues within 50 min. In both sporadic and familial ALS cases, neurophysiological studies point to motor cortical hyperexcitability as a possible priming factor in neurodegeneration, likely related to dysfunction of both excitatory and inhibitory mechanisms. A trans-synaptic anterograde mechanism of excitotoxicity is thus postulated, causing upper and lower motor neuron degeneration. Specifically, motor neuron hyperexcitability and hyperactivity are attributed to intrinsic cell abnormalities related to altered ion homeostasis and to impaired glutamate and gamma aminobutyric acid gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) signaling. Several neuropathological mechanisms support excitatory and synaptic dysfunction in ALS; additionally, hyperexcitability seems to drive DNA-binding protein 43-kevidence remains preliminary. Main limitations are the small number and heterogeneity of recruited patients, the limited "dosage" of brain stimulation that can be delivered in the hospital setting, the lack of a sufficient knowledge on the excitatory and inhibitory mechanisms targeted by specific stimulation interventions, and the persistent uncertainty on the key pathophysiological processes leading to motor neuron loss. In comparison, functional dystonia (FD) may resemble other forms of dystonia (OD) but has a different pathophysiology, as a subtype of functional movement disorders (FMD). FD is the second most common FMD and amongst the most diagnostically challenging FMD subtypes. Therefore, distinguishing between FD and OD is important, as the management of these disorders is distinct. There are also different pathophysiological underpinnings in FD, with for example evidence of involvnecessary investigations and procedures, while facilitating the appropriate management of these highly complex patients, which may help to mitigate frequently poor clinical outcomes.Surface electromyography (sEMG) may not be a simple 1,2,3 (muscle, electrodes, signal)-step operation. Multiple logistic regression models adjusting for age, sex, years of education, and disease duration were used to compare between patients with and without cognitive impairment, which was defined using the Mini-Mental Status Examination (MMSE) score (MMSE score ≥ 26 vs. less then 26) or the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (****) score (**** score ≥24 vs. less then 24). ResultsRYR2 SNP rs10495397 was most significantly associated with cognitive impairment based on the MMSE scores (OR = 3.21; 95% CI = 1.96-5.25, P = 3.36 × 10-6) and CASC17 showed the strongest association with cognitive impairment based on the **** scores. However, none of the SNPs were statistically significant after Bonferroni correction. ConclusionRYR2 may play a role in cognitive impairment in PD by the pathogenic mechanism of neuroinflammation. Limited information is available on the association between prosthesis-associated risk factors and biologic complications for patients with implant fixed complete dental prostheses (IFCDPs).
The purpose of this retrospective study was to assess the implant survival and biologic complications of IFCDPs up to 5 years of follow-up.
Patients who had received IFCDPs between August 1, 2009 and August 1, 2014 were identified through an electronic health record review. Those who consented to participate in the study attended a single-visit study appointment. Because appropriate management of POPF is important to reduce the mortality rate after PD, in this study we aimed to evaluate our approach for the management of POPF after PD, including the postoperative course.
This retrospective study included 605 consecutive patients who underwent PD at our hospital between 2010 and 2020. All patients who developed POPF were first managed conservatively, with drainage tubes placed during surgery retained to manage POPF. In cases wherein conservative treatment was unsuccessful, open drainage, followed by continuous negative pressure and continuous irrigation, was used. For open drainage, the surgical wound was opened bluntly (approximate length, 5 cm) under local anesthesia, and the fluid was directly and completely drained.
The prevalence of POPF of grades B and C was 15.4% (n= 93) and 0.33% (n= 2), respectively. Of these patients, 1 required reoperation, 43 recovered with conservative management only, 47 required open drainage, and 4 required image-guided percutaneous drainage. Postoperative hemorrhage with a pseudoaneurysm was identified in 3 (0.66%) patients. The postoperative in-hospital mortality rate was low (n= 1, 0.16%). The rate of successful POPF management was 98.9%.

The aim of this study is to investigate recent trends in the usage of splenic artery angioembolization in patients with isolated blunt splenic trauma.
Adult patients (age >15) with isolated blunt splenic trauma were identified from the National Trauma Databank (2007-2015) using International Classification of Diseases, Ninth Revision, codes. The defined groups included nonoperative management, splenectomy, and splenic artery angioembolization. Patient variables collected included year of traumatic injury, age, sex, race, insurance status, and geographic region. Clinical variables collected included vital signs (systolic blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate) recorded upon arrival to the emergency room, injury severity score, abbreviated injury severity scores, diagnoses, procedures, and mechanism. The repeatability and reproducibility of the threshold cycle values (Ct) were determined in two independent laboratories of the Faculty of Medicine of the Universidad de Antioquia, using different reagents and real time instruments.

Incisional hernia (IH) is a complication following abdominal surgery extensively studied in adults but less so in infants. This study aimed to identify the incidence, high risk diseases and risk factors of IH following abdominal surgery in infants.
Infants undergoing abdominal surgery before the age of three years in our tertiary centre between 1998 and 2018 were included. Patient demographics, peri‑operative details and the course during follow up were retrospectively extracted from patient records. Multivariate logistic regression was performed to identify risk factors.
The incidence of incisional hernia was 5.2% (107/2055). Necrotizing enterocolitis (12%), gastroschisis (19%), and omphalocele (17%) had the highest incidences of IH. Wound infection (OR 5.3, 95%-CI2.9-9.5), preterm birth (OR 4.2, 95%-CI2.6-6.7) and history of stoma (OR 1.7, 95%-CI1.1-2.8) were significant risk factors for IH. The role of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-fusion biopsy (FB) remains unclear in men with prior negative prostate biopsies. This study aimed to compare the diagnostic accuracy of FB with concurrent systematic biopsy (SB) in patients requiring repeat prostate biopsies.
Patients with previous negative prostate biopsies requiring repeat biopsies were included. Those without suspicious lesions (≥Prostate Imaging-Reporting and Data System [PI-RADS] 3) on MRI were excluded. All patients underwent FB followed by SB. The primary outcome was the sensitivity for clinically significant prostate cancer (Gleason score ≥7). The secondary objective was identification of potential predictive factors of biopsy performance.
A total of 53 patients were included; 41 (77%) patients were found to have clinically significant prostate cancer. FB had a higher detection rate of significant cancer compared to SB (85% vs. 76%, respectively, p=0.20) and lower diagnosis of indolent (Gleason score 3+3=6) cancer (10% vs. 27%, respecsion alone approach in these settings could be considered.
There is an increasing volume of urology referrals for urinary catheterization (UC). The aim of this study was to determine the confidence and knowledge among healthcare staff on UC. We also assessed their satisfaction with training and support received during catheter education and clinical practice.
This was a mixed-methods model using an anonymous, online survey circulated among all hospital staff. Weekly reminders were sent, quantitative data was obtained from closed-ended questions, and thematic analysis was performed for qualitative, open-ended questions.
The response rate was 26% (n=90/350), from a heterogenous group of doctors and nurses from various specialties and grades in the hospital and community frequently dealing with UC. There was decreasing confidence levels in female UC (54%, n=47/87), three-way catheters (33%, n=29/89), and managing suprapubic catheters (25%, n=21/85). Female UC was reported as the most difficult of catheter insertions (35%, n=31/90). Although 83% (n=74/89) of respon dealing with catheters in clinical practice would be the way forward.

Office-based flexible cystoscopy is often associated with considerable discomfort in male patients. We devised this study to prospectively evaluate the efficacy of cooling intraurethral lidocaine jelly to 4°C prior to use in office-based cystoscopy in an effort to reduce male patient discomfort.
A total of 600 male patients scheduled for office diagnostic cystoscopy were enrolled and randomized into three groups for a prospectively controlled, double-blind study. Each group received one of the three methods of intraurethral lubrication plain room temperature lubricant (control) (CON), room temperature lidocaine (LI), or lidocaine at 4°C (LI4°C). Perceived pain was recorded on a Likert visual analog scale (VAS) of 1-10 where 0=no pain and 10=excruciating pain. Viewers are asked to judge whether a target face matches a single face image (as when checking photo-ID) or multiple face images of the same person. The evidence here is less clear, with some studies finding a small multiple-image benefit, and others finding no advantage. In four experiments, we address this discrepancy in the benefits of multiple images from learning and matching studies. We show that multiple-image arrays only facilitate face matching when arrays precede targets. Unlike simultaneous face matching tasks, sequential matching and learning tasks involve memory and require abstraction of a stable representation of the face from the array, for subsequent comparison with a target. Our results show that benefits from multiple-image arrays occur only when this abstraction is required, and not when array and target images are available at once. A cross-sectional sample of 204 children and adolescents from South-East England, ranging in age from 9 to 18 years (M age = 13.74 years, SD = 2.68; 110 female), completed a visual masked prime lexical decision task using three sets of prime-target pairs morphological (e.g., teacher - TEACH), pseudomorphological (sharing an apparent morphological relationship in the absence of a semantic relationship, e.g., corner - CORN), and form (sharing an orthographic relationship only, e.g., window - WIND). In four experiments, we address this discrepancy in the benefits of multiple images from learning and matching studies. We show that multiple-image arrays only facilitate face matching when arrays precede targets. Unlike simultaneous face matching tasks, sequential matching and learning tasks involve memory and require abstraction of a stable representation of the face from the array, for subsequent comparison with a target. Our results show that benefits from multiple-image arrays occur only when this abstraction is required, and not when array and target images are available at once. The aim of this study was to investigate physiotherapy utilisation and costs before lumbar spine surgery under a workers' compensation claim in New South Wales (NSW), Australia.
Using data from the NSW State Insurance Regulatory Authority, we audited physiotherapy billing codes used before surgery for people who received lumbar spine surgery from 2010 to 2018. We summarised, separately for fusion and decompression, the time from initiation of physiotherapy to surgery, number of physiotherapy sessions people received before surgery, total cost of physiotherapy before surgery, and time from injury date to initiation of physiotherapy. All analyses were descriptive.
We included 3070 people (800 had fusion, 2270 decompression). Mean age (standard deviation, SD) was similar between those who received fusion and decompression herapy before surgery, particularly before decompression surgery. Others may be receiving an excessive amount of physiotherapy before surgery, particularly before fusion.

Understanding the impact of food insecurity on HIV outcomes is critical for the development and implementation of effective, evidence-based interventions to address food insecurity and improve the HIV care cascade. We conducted a prospective, longitudinal study to determine the impact of food insecurity on HIV outcomes in Senegal, West Africa.
HIV-infected individuals presenting for care and initiation of ART through the Senegalese National AIDS program in Dakar and Ziguinchor were eligible for enrollment. Data were collected using interviews, clinical evaluations, laboratory analyses, and chart review at enrollment, month 6, and month 12. Logistic regression was used to determine the association between food insecurity and HIV outcomes.
Among the 207 participants in this study, 70% were female and the median age was 37 years. The majority (69%) were food insecure at enrollment, 29% were severely food insecure, and 38% were undernourished. Nearly a third (32%) had no formal education, 23% practiced agri outcomes. Our findings highlight the importance of nutritional status, socioeconomic opportunity, and self-stigmatization in the complex pathway between food insecurity and HIV outcomes. Interdisciplinary, multisectoral efforts are needed to develop and implement effective interventions to address food insecurity among people living with HIV.

There is limited evidence to clarify the specific relationship between preoperative estimated glomerular filtration rate (preop-eGFR) and postoperative 30-day mortality in Asian patients undergoing non-cardiac and non-neuron surgery. We aimed to investigate details of this relationship.
We reanalyzed a retrospective analysis of the clinical records of 90,785 surgical patients at the Singapore General Hospital from January 1, 2012 to October 31, 2016. The main outcome was postoperative 30-day mortality.
The average age of these recruited patients was 53.96 ± 16.88years, of which approximately 51.64% were female. The mean of preop-eGFR distribution was 84.45 ± 38.56mL/min/1.73m

Multivariate logistic regression analysis indicated that preop-eGFR was independently associated with 30-day mortality (adjusted odds ratio 0.992; 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.990-0.995; P < 0.001). A U-shaped relationship was detected between preop-eGFR and 30-day mortality with an inflection point of 98.688 (P for log likelihood ratio test < 0.001). The effect sizes and confidence intervals on the right and left sides of the inflection point were 1.013 (1.007 to 1.019) [P < 0.0001] and 0.984 (0.981 to 0.987) [P < 0.0001], respectively. Understanding how much physiotherapy people receive before lumbar spine surgery could give insight into what people and clinicians consider an adequate trial of non-operative management. The aim of this study was to investigate physiotherapy utilisation and costs before lumbar spine surgery under a workers' compensation claim in New South Wales (NSW), Australia. Using data from the NSW State Insurance Regulatory Authority, we audited physiotherapy billing codes used before surgery for people who received lumbar spine surgery from 2010 to 2018. We summarised, separately for fusion and decompression, the time from initiation of physiotherapy to surgery, number of physiotherapy sessions people received before surgery, total cost of physiotherapy before surgery, and time from injury date to initiation of physiotherapy. All analyses were descriptive. We included 3070 people (800 had fusion, 2270 decompression). Mean age (standard deviation, SD) was similar between those who received fusion and decompression herapy before surgery, particularly before decompression surgery. We reanalyzed a retrospective analysis of the clinical records of 90,785 surgical patients at the Singapore General Hospital from January 1, 2012 to October 31, 2016. The main outcome was postoperative 30-day mortality. The average age of these recruited patients was 53.96 ± 16.88years, of which approximately 51.64% were female. The mean of preop-eGFR distribution was 84.45 ± 38.56mL/min/1.73m . Multivariate logistic regression analysis indicated that preop-eGFR was independently associated with 30-day mortality (adjusted odds ratio 0.992; 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.990-0.995; P < 0.001). A U-shaped relationship was detected between preop-eGFR and 30-day mortality with an inflection point of 98.688 (P for log likelihood ratio test < 0.001). There are nearly 18 million family caregivers in the U.S. assisting an older adult in need of help. To identify the caregivers in greatest need of support requires an understanding of the current social support networks available to family caregivers and whether specific groups of caregivers are at risk of having an insufficient support network.
We collected personal network data from a nationally representative sample of 66 family caregivers to persons with dementia (PWD) in the U.S. age 18 and over, including information on network members' support to the caregiver and help to the care recipient.
We found four common caregiving network types large networks with many helpers; large networks primarily supporting caregivers; small, dense networks supporting both caregivers and care recipient; and small networks providing little help to either caregiver or care recipient. Gender, income, and geographic proximity of caregiver to the care recipient were significantly associated with caregiver network type.
This study suggests that there are different types of care and support networks available to caregivers to PWDs, and that the size and structure of networks vary considerable among demographic groups. As the population ages, a better understanding of the supports available to caregivers will be crucial for ensuring that caregivers are adequately supported, and caregiving needs of families are met.

Despite the continuous discovery of new transcript isoforms, fueled by the recent increase in accessibility and accuracy of long-read RNA sequencing data, functional differences between isoforms originating from the same gene often remain obscure. To address this issue and enable researchers to assess potential functional consequences of transcript isoform variation on the proteome, we developed IsoTV. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/jzl184.html IsoTV is a versatile pipeline to process, predict, and visualize the functional features of translated transcript isoforms. Attributes such as gene and isoform expression, transcript composition, and functional features are summarized in an easy-to-interpret visualization. Using Oxford Nanopore long read data, we demonstrate that IsoTV facilitates the understanding of potential protein isoform function in different cancer cell types.

Open surgical repair or endotube repair of aorta and oesophagus save patients from circulatory deterioration, major haematemesis and severe infection. Here we present a rare case of an aorto-oesophageal fistula in the right hemi-arch caused by a fish bone treated with an alternative surgical strategy. Total aortic arch repair using the frozen elephant trunk procedure combined with oesophageal repair were performed. No aortic fistula, oesophageal fistula or artificial graft infection occurred in the follow-up.Apolygus lucorum (Meyer-Dür) (Hemiptera Miridae) tends to feed on young plant tissues. To explore the relationship between stylet probing behaviors of adult A. lucorum and conditions of cotton leaves, we conducted an experiment using electropenetrography (EPG). Behaviors were recorded on four cotton varieties, in relation to thickness and biochemical traits of differently-aged leaves. Cotton leaf age had a significant effect on the probing behavior of A. lucorum but cotton variety did not. One-day-old leaves of A. lucorum received the highest mean number of stylet probes (penetrations) per insect, and longest mean durations per insect of combined stylet probing or its components, cell rupture and ingestion behaviors. All of the leaf traits (thickness and biochemical substances) were similar among these four cotton varieties. Leaf thickness had a significantly negative effect on the same four variables above. Gossypol and tannin also had a negative impact on combined probing duration. Redundancy analysis showed that the four EPG variables were closely related to nutrient substances (amino acids, sugar, and water) while they had the opposite relationship with plant defense substances (gossypol and tannin). On cotton in the seedling stages, A. lucorum fed more readily on the youngest, thinnest leaves in our no-choice EPG experiments. Nutrients and chemical resistance substances determined the probing duration of A. lucorum. Our findings can contribute to better understanding of patterns of feeding and host consumption by A. lucorum, ultimately improving cotton resistance to A. lucorum.One of the most important global problems is protecting food from insect pests. Ovicidal and larvicidal toxicity was tested by treating freshly laid eggs and larvae at different immature stages of Callosobruchus maculatus (F.). Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata) (L.) Walp seed damage and weight loss were assessed after a storage period of 4 mo. Repellency effects were detected in choice test using a linear olfactometer. All the fractions were toxic to C. maculatus; however, their bioactivities were inversely correlated with products polarity. Extracts proved to be more toxic than the commercial NSO. Ammonia (NH3) produced inside livestock houses can adversely affect animal welfare and performance and degrade the environment. In broiler houses, NH3 levels are mitigated by applying acidifiers to the litter but acidifiers provide short-term NH3 suppression requiring heavy or repeated applications. Microbial additives may provide longer-term NH3 control through nitrogen (N) immobilization and nitrification. The objective of this 50-d lab study was to evaluate the impact of two microbial additives (Environoc 301 and Environoc 501), 2% glucose, and distilled water (control) treatments applied to broiler litter on NH3 emissions and litter properties. During the first 34 d, glucose significantly but modestly reduced NH3 emissions vs. the other treatments which were not significantly different from one-another. For the entire study, when glucose was excluded (due to lost replicates), the three treatments were not significantly different. The unreplicated glucose treatment had higher final litter nitrate concentration than the other treatments. Litter properties were unaffected by the two microbial additive and control treatments. The effectiveness of glucose in reducing NH3 emission could have been due to greater N immobilization and nitrification vs. the other treatments. Compared with WYJ8, the aerenchyma area and H2O2 content in WYJ8(DEP1) were increased by 55.98% and 53.37%, respectively; however, the responses of aerenchyma formation to exogenous H2O2 were basically the same in the two varieties. Diphenylene iodonium (DPI) treatment had no effect on H2O2 production and elimination processes in WYJ8, but significantly reduced the activity of the key enzyme that catalyzes H2O2 biosynthesis in WYJ8(DEP1). Importantly, exogenous H2O2 treatment did not offset the effect of the decrease in endogenous H2O2 level caused by DPI on aerenchyma formation. Three patients had horizontal strabismus due to a decompensated heterophoria or convergence insufficiency. In total, 17 patients required strabismus surgery (mean 1.3 operations, range 1-3). Regional anesthesia was the main risk factor for new-onset diplopia after cataract surgery in adults. Distinct strabismus patterns were observed for left and right eyes.d. Andrographolide (Andro) has a neuroprotective effect and a potential for treating Alzheimer's disease (AD), but the mechanism has not been elucidated. The efficacy of Andro on p62-mediated Kelch-like ECH-associated protein 1(Keap1)-Nuclear factor E2 related factor 2 (Nrf2) pathways in the aluminium maltolate (Al(mal) )-induced neurotoxicity in PC12 cell was explored. PC12 cells were induced by Al(mal) (700 μM) to establish a neurotoxicity model. Following Andro (1.25, 2.5, 5, 10, 20, 40 μM) co-treatment with Al(Mal) , cell viability was detected with MTT, protein expression levels of β-amyloid precursor protein (APP), β-site APP cleaving enzyme 1 (BACE1), Tau, Nrf2, Keap1, p62 and LC3 were measured via western blotting or immunofluorescence analyses. and mRNA, were detected by reverse transcription-quantitative PCR. Compared with the 700 μM Al(mal) group, Andro (5, 10 μM) significantly increased Al(mal)3-induced cell viability from 67.4% to 91.9% and 91.2%, respectively, and decreased the sing therapeutic lead against Al-induced neurotoxicity by regulating p62-mediated keap1-Nrf2 pathways.Expansion of the coding and regulatory capabilities of eukaryotic transcriptomes by alternative splicing represents one of the evolutionary forces underlying the increased structural complexity of metazoans. Brain and testes stand out as the organs that mostly exploit the potential of alternative splicing, thereby expressing the largest repertoire of splice variants.
