Therefore, assessing which components of CSRE have the highest impact on its compressive strength becomes an important issue. There are three machine learning regression tools, i.e., artificial neural networks, decision tree, and random forest, used for predicting the compressive strength based on the relative content of CSRE composites (clay, silt, sand, gravel, cement, and water content). The database consisted of 434 samples of CSRE, which were prepared and crushed for testing purposes. Relatively low prediction errors of aforementioned models allowed for the use of explainable artificial intelligence tools (drop-out loss, mean squared error reduction, accumulated local effect) to rank the influence of the ingredients on the dependent variable-the compressive strength. Consistent results from all above-mentioned methods are discussed and compared to some statistical analysis of selected features. This innovative approach, helpful in designing the construction material is a solid base for reliable conclusions.Achieving the shift towards Industry 4.0 is only feasible through the active integration of the shopfloor into the transformation process. One way of analyzing the dissimilarities, the advantages and disadvantages of these groups, is to examine the neurological patterns of workers as they are applying these. This paper aims to achieve this evaluation through non-invasive electroencephalography (EEG) sensors, which capture the electrical activity of the brain. A deep learning (DL) soft sensor is used to classify the recorded data with an accuracy of 96.5%. Through this result and an analysis using the correlations of the EEG signals, it has been possible to detect relevant characteristics and differences in the brain's activity. In this study, we identified the ethanol extract of Caesalpinia decapetala (Roth) Alston (EEC) as an inhibitor against the replication of a panel of influenza A and B viruses both on human pulmonary epithelial A549 and human monocytic U937 cells. The animal study revealed that EEC administration reduces the weight loss and improves the survival rate of **** infected with lethal influenza virus. Herein, we describe a series of three sterically congested nitrogenated benzodipentaphenes, one of which shows a highly distorted aromatic backbone with an unprecedented double π-expanded helicene structure.Colloidal semiconductor nanocrystals (NCs) are promising components in various optoelectronic and photocatalytic devices; however, the mechanism of energy transport in these materials remains to be further understood. Here, we investigate the distance dependence of the electronic interactions between CsPbBr3 nanocubes and CdSe nanoplateles using an alumina (AlOx) shell as a spacer. CsPbBr3@AlOx core@shell NCs are synthesized via colloidal atomic layer deposition (c-ALD), which allows us to fine-tune the oxide thickness and thus the distance d between the two NCs. This versatile material platform shows that the electronic interactions between the CsPbBr3 NCs and the CdSe nanoplatelets can be tuned from electron to energy transfer by increasing the shell thickness, whereas previous studies on the same system had been limited to the former. Considering the applicability of the c-ALD to different NCs, we suggest that metal oxide shell spacers synthesized by this approach can generally be used to study energy-transfer mechanisms at the nanoscale.When a droplet impacts a smooth solid surface with a sufficiently high inertia, a thin sheet is created and the whole droplet fluid then breaks apart. Here, we report non-classical behaviors observed during competitive adsorption between Sr2+ and Na+/Rb+ at the negatively-charged muscovite **** (001)-water interface, revealing apparent controls of adsorbed ion speciation over the interfacial reactivity. In the absence of competing cations, Sr2+ adsorbs in approximately equivalent proportions of inner-sphere and outer-sphere complexes, whereas it adsorbs predominantly as an outer-sphere complex in the presence of Na+/Rb+. This transformation of adsorbed Sr2+ speciation significantly decreases its adsorption strength, as indicated by ~15-fold shift in the Sr2+ adsorption edge concentration, compared to that calculated from a classical Langmuir isotherm model developed based on site-specific interactions. OBJECTIVE to construct a theoretical, field and analysis mapping of nursing education in the context of public education policies in Brazil. METHOD a descriptive study with a mixed approach of investigation, having as theoretical-analytical instruments the studies on maps construction (theoretical, field and analytical), which allowed the distribution, imbalances, tendencies and contradictions verification of the phenomenon studied. RESULTS the disordered expansion of vacancies in nursing has been occurring in a disorganized, asymmetric way and directed to the distancing of the State in the assistance to the educational sector, as well as the consequent privatization of education and reaffirmation of social imbalance of regions with the lowest economic power. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS the study made technological, scientific and academic contributions possible and showed that public policies directed intense and disorderly expansion of courses/vacancies, indicating the need to establish strategies that can promote actions to strengthen the quality of nursing education.OBJECTIVE analyze the pattern of spatial distribution of the prevalence rate of births with congenital disorders and its relationship with social, economic, health care and environmental indicators in Paraná, Brazil, from 2008 to 2015. METHOD ecological study with variables extracted from secondary banks, related to the births of children of mothers residing in Paraná, in two quadrennial (2008-2011 and 2012-2015). The analysis of the rates was performed with univariate spatial (Moran) and multivariate approach (Ordinary Least Squares and Geographically Weighted Regression). RESULTS the occurrence of congenital disorders presented a significant association (p less then 0.05) with registration in primary care of pregnant women over 20 years of age; urbanization degree; consumption of pesticides; and balance of female formal employment. "Failure to take action to reduce risk factor" and "Failure to include treatment regimen in daily living" better predict this diagnosis. Paid occupation reduces the chance of the presence of "Difficulty with prescribed regimen". Participation in support association reduces the chance of the presence of "Difficulty with prescribed regimen", "Ineffective choices in daily living for meeting health goal" and "Failure to take action to reduce risk factor". OBJECTIVE to construct a theoretical, field and analysis mapping of nursing education in the context of public education policies in Brazil. METHOD a descriptive study with a mixed approach of investigation, having as theoretical-analytical instruments the studies on maps construction (theoretical, field and analytical), which allowed the distribution, imbalances, tendencies and contradictions verification of the phenomenon studied. RESULTS the disordered expansion of vacancies in nursing has been occurring in a disorganized, asymmetric way and directed to the distancing of the State in the assistance to the educational sector, as well as the consequent privatization of education and reaffirmation of social imbalance of regions with the lowest economic power. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS the study made technological, scientific and academic contributions possible and showed that public policies directed intense and disorderly expansion of courses/vacancies, indicating the need to establish strategies that can promote actions to strengthen the quality of nursing education.OBJECTIVE analyze the pattern of spatial distribution of the prevalence rate of births with congenital disorders and its relationship with social, economic, health care and environmental indicators in Paraná, Brazil, from 2008 to 2015. Furthermore, fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) was applied to ABX **** in order to assess its effects on host immunity against invasive candidiasis after restoring the intestinal microbiota, and 16S ribosomal RNA gene sequencing was conducted on fecal samples from both uninfected ABX and CNV group of **** to analyze their microbiomes. Results We found that ABX **** displayed significantly increased weight loss, mortality, and organ damage during invasive candidiasis when compared with CNV ****, which could be alleviated by FMT. In addition, the level of IL-17A in ABX **** was significantly lower than that in the CNV group during invasive candidiasis. Treatment with recombinant IL-17A could improve the survival of ABX **** during invasive candidiasis. The irradiation dose was set at 51.6 Gy (relative biological effectiveness) delivered in 12 fractions over 3 weeks. Biochemical relapse was defined using the Phoenix definition. Toxicities were assessed according to CTCAE version 4.0. Results The median patient age was 70 (47-86) years. The median follow-up duration was 35.3 (4.1-52.9) months. According to the D'Amico classification system, 8, 88, and 157 patients were classified as having low, intermediate, and high risks, respectively. Androgen deprivation therapy was administered in 244 patients. The biochemical relapse-free rate in the low-, intermediate-, and high-risk groups at 3 years was 87.5, 88.0, and 97.5%, respectively (P = 0.036). Grade 2 acute urinary toxicity was observed in 12 (4.7%) patients. Grade 2 acute rectal toxicity was not observed. Grade 2 late urinary toxicity and grade 2 late rectal toxicity were observed in 17 (6.7%) and 3 patients (1.2%), respectively. Previous transurethral resection of the prostate was significantly associated with late grade 2 toxicity in univariate analysis. The predictive factor for late rectal toxicity was not detected. Pearson correlation analysis was computed to assess the relationships among network metrics, neuropsychological performance and pathological biomarkers. Finally, we used the multiple kernel learning-support vector machine (MKL-SVM) to differentiate the SCD and HC individuals. Results SCD individuals showed higher nodal topological properties (including nodal strength, nodal global efficiency and nodal local efficiency) associated with amyloid-β levels and memory function than the HC, and these regions were mainly located in the default mode network (DMN). Moreover, increased local and medium-range connectivity mainly between the bilateral parahippocampal gyrus (PHG) and other DMN-related regions was found in SCD individuals compared with HC individuals. These aberrant functional network measures exhibited good classification performance in the differentiation of SCD individuals from HC individuals at an accuracy up to 79.23%. Conclusion The findings of this study provide insight into the compensatory mechanism of the functional connectome underlying SCD. The proposed classification method highlights the potential of connectome-based metrics for the identification of the preclinical stage of AD.

PET/CT was acquired 1 h after injection of 143-224 MBq [68Ga]Ga-RM2. Time from pre-NAC PET to beginning of NAC was 23 ± 4.9 days, from end of NAC to post-NAC PET 18.7 ± 6.3 days, and from post-NAC PET to surgery 9.5 ± 10.8 days. In vivo tumor uptake of [68Ga]Ga-RM2 was assessed before and after NAC and correlated with histopathological response. Results All tumors (6/6) showed strongly increased [68Ga]Ga-RM2 uptake compared to normal breast tissue on pre-NAC PET (mean SUVmax 13.2 ± 7.3; mean SUVpeak 9.4 ± 4.4). [68Ga]Ga-RM2 uptake was significantly reduced on post-NAC PET in all primary tumors (mean SUVmax 2.3 ± 0.8, -79 ± 11%; p = 0.0125; mean SUVpeak 1.6 ± 0.4, -79 ± 10%; p = 0.0096). In order to support the development of new pharmaceutical products containing such drugs combination, this study proposes a simple and efficient LC-MS bioanalytical method to simultaneously quantify minoxidil sulphate and latanoprost in different skin layers. Compounds separation was performed by liquid chromatography using a C18 column with gradient elution of a mobile phase composed of 0.1 % formic acid in acetonitrile and water at a flow rate of 0.5 mL min-1. Determinations were executed using mass spectrometry equipped with an ESI interface operating in a positive ionization mode. Quantification was performed using selective ion mode monitoring of m/z 210.1 for minoxidil sulphate and 433.3 for latanoprost. The matrix effect was very pronounced in samples containing some skin layers or electrolyte solution. Accordingly, a calibration curve for each contaminant group was built, leading to correlation coefficient values higher than 0.99. Additionally, lower limits of detection and quantification were obtained, and precision (repeatability and intermediate precision) achieved results with a coefficient of variation less than 15 %. Time from pre-NAC PET to beginning of NAC was 23 ± 4.9 days, from end of NAC to post-NAC PET 18.7 ± 6.3 days, and from post-NAC PET to surgery 9.5 ± 10.8 days. In vivo tumor uptake of [68Ga]Ga-RM2 was assessed before and after NAC and correlated with histopathological response. Results All tumors (6/6) showed strongly increased [68Ga]Ga-RM2 uptake compared to normal breast tissue on pre-NAC PET (mean SUVmax 13.2 ± 7.3; mean SUVpeak 9.4 ± 4.4). Quantification was performed using selective ion mode monitoring of m/z 210.1 for minoxidil sulphate and 433.3 for latanoprost. The matrix effect was very pronounced in samples containing some skin layers or electrolyte solution. Short sleep duration (1 h/d) and low frequency of weekend outdoor activity tended to be stronger (with higher prevalence ratios associated with myopia) risk factors for myopia in postmenarche girls than in premenarche girls, and their interaction with menarche status was all statistically significant (P less then 0.05). Overall, our study suggests that menarche onset may be associated with increased risk of myopia among school-aged girls and could also enhance girls' sensitivity to myopia-related risk behaviors.
The purpose of this review was to establish whether the prescription of antipsychotic medication in HMP Low Newton was safe, rational and consistent with current best practice. A search of the electronic healthcare records was performed on 14 March 2018 to identify all the women in the prison who were prescribed antipsychotic medication, and then data were collected from the records.
A total of 46 out of 336 prisoners (13.7%) had been prescribed antipsychotic medications; 29 of the 46 patients (84.8%) were also prescribed other psychotropic medications at the same time. Quetiapine was the most frequently prescribed antipsychotic and was also the most likely to be prescribed for off-label indications. Less than one-third of all antipsychotic prescriptions were for psychotic disorders.
The rationale for prescribing all antipsychotic medication, especially for off-label indications, should be clearly documented and reviewed regularly within the prison by the mental health team and psychiatrist.

Migrating between countries necessitates movement and adjustment between systems of healthcare. Children of migrants are known to have poorer health than local children on some measures and are less likely to access primary care. In the United Kingdom (UK), children are offered a preventive Healthy Child programme in addition to reactive services; this programme consists of health reviews and immunisations with some contacts delivered in the home by public health nurses.
Five focus groups were held in a city in South West England. Participants were parents of pre-school children (n = 28) who had migrated to the UK from Romania, Poland, Pakistan or Somalia within the last 10 years. Groups selected included both 'new migrants' (from countries which acceded to the European Union in the 2000s) and those from communities long-established in the UK (Somali and Pakistani). This paper attempts to understand how EUMHG operated and the structure of political relations within it, attending especially to opportunities for citizen participation. It adopts a global governmentality approach that focuses on practices and discourses. It finds that EUMHG practices including benchmarks, best practices and risk-thinking reinforced larger EU policy goals of market-optimisation, and that the central discourses of de-institutionalisation (DI) and community mental health (CMH) shifted meaning over time, first apprehending mental health as a public-health goal, then targeting mental ill-health as a burden to states. Finally, it finds that non-governmental organisations' (NGOs) work within EUMHG rendered them both objects and subjects of government. Through these dynamics, citizens usually were positioned outside governance, and NGO identities were altered, though CMH's transformative potential remained. Citizen participation in EUMHG was heavily conditioned. NGO and citizen power will need vigilant protection in any future EUMHG.
Currently, no separate service exists for patients with young-onset dementia in Cambridgeshire. These patients are managed together with late-onset dementia patients within old age psychiatry services. To inform service design, we sought to characterise young-onset dementia patients in our population. We first analysed service-level data and supplemented this with a detailed case review of 90 patients.
Young-onset dementia remains a relatively rare condition. Only a small proportion of those referred for assessment receive a diagnosis of dementia. Data collected on presenting complaints, comorbidities, medication and Health of the Nation Outcome Scales scores associated young-onset dementia with a greater incidence of depression than late-onset dementia. Outcomes in the two groups did not appear to differ.
The data presented here do not suggest a need to create a separate service. Practitioners should be aware of the increased incidence of depression observed in this group.

This study quantified the gene expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), neurothrophin 4, tyrosine kinase receptor B (TrkB/NTRK2), insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1), and insulin-like growth factor receptor (IGF-1r) in the different areas of mother's brain (hypothalamus, hippocampus, and cortex), placenta, and fetus' brain of rats. Female Wistar rats (n = 20) were housed in cages containing a running wheel for 4 weeks before gestation. According to the distance spontaneously traveled daily, rats were classified as inactive or active. During gestation, on continued access to the running wheel, active and inactive groups were randomized to receive normoprotein diet (18% protein) or a low-protein (LP) diet (8% protein). At day 20 of gestation, gene expression of neurotrophic factors was analyzed by quantitative polymerase chain reaction in different brain areas and the placenta. Dams submitted to a LP diet during gestation showed upregulation of IGF-1r and BDNF messenger RNA in the hypothalamus, IGF-1r and NTRK2 in the hippocampus, and BDNF, NTRK2, IGF-1 and IGF-1r in the cortex.

It is important to consider myeloid sarcoma as a differential for pancreatic mass, especially given the history of AML as in our patient, which would lead to timely diagnosis and initiation of chemotherapy.
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common neurobehavioral disorders in children, affecting 4-12 percent of school-aged children, and can profoundly affect their academic achievement, well-being, and social interactions. While it is easy to think of a diagnosis of ADHD as a concern primarily for the children affected, it is important to recognize that chronic developmental and behavioral conditions affect all family members.
This study utilized the ADHD Common Sense Parenting (CSP) program developed by Boys Town for the specific population of parents of children diagnosed with or suspected to have ADHD from ages 6-12 in the Yankton, South Dakota, area. Ultimately, effectiveness was determined by improvement in parental knowledge and skills when interacting with their children as assessed by the degree of improvement in parental well-being determined by PHQ-9, GAD-7, and the Boys Town CSP pre/post-test evaluation scores. The study period consisted of a five-week recruiting period, followed by a two-hour, once-weekly, seven-week parenting skills course.
Overall, the study did not have sufficient evidence to state whether the ADHD CSP course was effective at improving all outcomes measured. There were statistically significant changes in several subscales in the CSP evaluation scores (supportive behavior, conduct problems, and emotional symptoms). Positive trends were noted in both PHQ-9 and GAD-7 scores.
The positive changes in all measures indicate that this course could help improve parenting skills, stress levels, and both school and home outcomes for children with ADHD.

As a common model for adverse early experience and depression, maternal separation (MS) is always used to investigate the psychological disease. Despite extensive and strong evidence verified the depression-like state induced by MS, little is known about the specific mechanism of MS. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the neurobiology mechanism of the MS-induced depression-like state.
To verify the depression-like behaviors of offspring induced by MS, a series of behavioral tests were performed. Then, in vivo electroporation and three-dimensional reconstruction, combining with immunohistochemistry and BrdU labeling, were mainly used to explore the neurogenesis and synaptogenesis in postnatal dentate gyrus.
Prolonged MS indeed induced the depression-like behaviors of offspring in adulthood. Surprisingly, learning and memory were enhanced by prolonged MS. Further investigation indicated that prolonged MS inhibited the proliferation of neural stem cells, impaired the survival, and altered the fate decision of newborn cells, whereas the total length and terminal tips of dendrite, and the spine density, especially thin spine, were significantly increased in prolonged MS ****.
Our results elucidated that prolonged MS induced the depression-like state by impairing postnatal neurogenesis of dentate gyrus. Ultimately, effectiveness was determined by improvement in parental knowledge and skills when interacting with their children as assessed by the degree of improvement in parental well-being determined by PHQ-9, GAD-7, and the Boys Town CSP pre/post-test evaluation scores. The study period consisted of a five-week recruiting period, followed by a two-hour, once-weekly, seven-week parenting skills course. Overall, the study did not have sufficient evidence to state whether the ADHD CSP course was effective at improving all outcomes measured. There were statistically significant changes in several subscales in the CSP evaluation scores (supportive behavior, conduct problems, and emotional symptoms). Positive trends were noted in both PHQ-9 and GAD-7 scores. As a common model for adverse early experience and depression, maternal separation (MS) is always used to investigate the psychological disease. Despite extensive and strong evidence verified the depression-like state induced by MS, little is known about the specific mechanism of MS. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the neurobiology mechanism of the MS-induced depression-like state. To verify the depression-like behaviors of offspring induced by MS, a series of behavioral tests were performed. Then, in vivo electroporation and three-dimensional reconstruction, combining with immunohistochemistry and BrdU labeling, were mainly used to explore the neurogenesis and synaptogenesis in postnatal dentate gyrus. Prolonged MS indeed induced the depression-like behaviors of offspring in adulthood. Surprisingly, learning and memory were enhanced by prolonged MS. Further investigation indicated that prolonged MS inhibited the proliferation of neural stem cells, impaired the survival, and altered the fate decision of newborn cells, whereas the total length and terminal tips of dendrite, and the spine density, especially thin spine, were significantly increased in prolonged MS mice. While most known Acrs are derived from bacterial phages and prophages, very few have been characterized in the domain Archaea, despite the nearly ubiquitous presence of CRISPR-Cas in archaeal cells. Here we summarize the discovery and characterization of the archaeal Acrs with the representatives encoded by a model archaeal virus, Sulfolobus islandicus rod-shaped virus 2 (SIRV2). AcrID1 inhibits subtype I-D CRISPR-Cas immunity through direct interaction with the large subunit Cas10d of the effector complex, and AcrIIIB1 inhibits subtype III-B CRISPR-Cas immunity through a mechanism interfering with middle/late gene targeting. Here, we used 1-anilinonaphthalene 8-sulfonic acid (ANS) displacement assay and found that Ligand 1 has highest affinity for FABP3, with comparable affinity for FABP4 and FABP5. The apparent dissociation constant of BMS309403 was identical to that of arachidonic acid and docosahexaenoic acid. Docking studies with X-ray structural data showed that these novel derivatives obtained by the substitution of phenoxyacetic acid in BMS309403 but not BMS309403 have high or moderate affinity for FABP3. We further found that substitution of a phenyl group and alkyl group caused steric hindrance between 16F, the portal loop and 115L, 117L, respectively, leading to decrease in their affinity for FABPs. Next, moxifloxacin was orally administered in doses of 10, 30 and 100 mg/kg with an interval of >1 week (n = 6), which provided Cmax of 1.8, 4.2 and 8.9 μg/mL, and induced torsade de pointes in 0, 0 and 2 out of 6 animals, respectively. A close analysis of pharmacokinetic and electrocardiographic variables indicates that torsade de pointes was induced in animals that had experienced larger systemic exposure of moxifloxacin and/or greater peak QTcF, although Cmax by itself did not necessarily reflect the incidence of torsade de pointes when its administration route was different. These findings may provide a basic guide how to use moxifloxacin in safe for patients with labile repolarization process.We assessed torsadogenic action of risperidone, which can potently inhibit IKr as well as α1-adrenoceptor. A toxic dose of 3 mg/kg of risperidone was intravenously administered over 10 min to chronic atrioventricular block dogs without anesthesia with monitoring Holter electrocardiogram (n = 4). Risperidone increased atrial/ventricular rate for 1-12 h/1-6 h and prolonged QTcF at 6 h after its administration, whereas it did not increase short-term variability of repolarization or induced torsade de pointes. These results suggest that α1-adrenoceptor blockade-dependent, hypotension-induced, reflex-mediated increase of sympathetic tone by risperidone might play a role in protecting the heart from IKr inhibition-associated torsade de pointes.

Various cues from the microenvironment in which cells live can regulate cellular functions. In addition to biochemical cues, increasing evidence has demonstrated that mechanical cues (namely, substrate/matrix stiffness in this review) presented by the cell microenvironment are also critically important in regulating cellular functions. Under shear, droplets stabilized by these particles at near-complete surface coverage exhibit a number of previously unforeseen phenomena, including negative-then-positive deviations from the predictions of Taylor and the behavior of bare droplets, evolution toward spherocylindrical shapes, and an earlier onset of rupture than their bare counterparts, which we explain in light of the weak attractive interparticle interactions along the droplet interface. We also demonstrate the formation of long-lived anisotropic particle-coated droplets by flow cessation, and provide evidence that this is due to the formation of a jammed, disordered particle network along the interface at surface coverage lower than the starting conditions. Importantly, these newly observed phenomena are shown to be sensitive to the droplets' initial surface coverage. However, no sensitive method is available for detecting it. Here, we employed phage nanofibers (∼7 nm wide) as a probe to quantify SS from a dilute aqueous solution by exploiting two properties of the bacteria-infecting phage nanofibers, its use as a platform for discovering SS-binding peptide and its ultrasensitive quantification by a simple titering assay (where the number of phage nanofibers displaying the SS-binding peptide is equal to the number of countable millimeter-sized plaques derived from the phage nanofibers by infecting bacteria through plating). We first discovered a SS-binding peptide and the phage nanofibers (SS-phage) displaying this peptide at the tip. We found that this peptide can even differentiate SS from another silk protein (silk fibroin), showing its high specificity. We then employed SS-phage nanofibers as a probe to bind the SS casted from the aqueous solution. Because SS-phage nanofibers bound to the SS and the SS in the original SS solution were numerically correlated and the number of SS-phage nanofibers can be determined by counting the plaques in a Petri dish by the titering assay, determining the number of phage-derived plaques with the naked eye led to the rapid quantification of SS concentration with a detection limit of 19.

These results highlight the significance of surface strain effects on the reactivity of CO2RR and provide guidance for practical catalyst development.Silk sericin (SS) has emerged as an important silk protein for use in medicine and textiles. However, no sensitive method is available for detecting it. Here, we employed phage nanofibers (∼7 nm wide) as a probe to quantify SS from a dilute aqueous solution by exploiting two properties of the bacteria-infecting phage nanofibers, its use as a platform for discovering SS-binding peptide and its ultrasensitive quantification by a simple titering assay (where the number of phage nanofibers displaying the SS-binding peptide is equal to the number of countable millimeter-sized plaques derived from the phage nanofibers by infecting bacteria through plating). We first discovered a SS-binding peptide and the phage nanofibers (SS-phage) displaying this peptide at the tip. We found that this peptide can even differentiate SS from another silk protein (silk fibroin), showing its high specificity. We then employed SS-phage nanofibers as a probe to bind the SS casted from the aqueous solution. Because SS-phage nanofibers bound to the SS and the SS in the original SS solution were numerically correlated and the number of SS-phage nanofibers can be determined by counting the plaques in a Petri dish by the titering assay, determining the number of phage-derived plaques with the naked eye led to the rapid quantification of SS concentration with a detection limit of 19.0 Comments 0 Shares 5 Views 0 Reviews
