Participants 71 students (n = 41 females;18 to 22 years) measured in May of 2014. METHODS Knowledge of existence and accuracy of PA and nutrition recommendations were assessed via a verbal survey. Results Most (67.6%) were aware PA recommendations exist, but only 26.8% could accurately report them. There were no significant associations between sex or body mass index (BMI) and either awareness or accuracy of PA or nutrition recommendations. Non-Kinesiology majors were 3.3 times more likely to answer that they were not aware of the existence of PA recommendations, compared to Kinesiology majors. Although linear correlations of conventional exciplex emission maxima with the Lippert-Mataga solvent polarity function are well documented in low to moderate polarity solvents, the correlations are often poor in more polar solvents. A number of such plots in moderate to high polarity solvents show a strong curvature. Intriguingly, for these same cases, plots of emission maxima versus the solvent dielectric constant (ε) are remarkably linear. Interestingly, emission maxima for the cationic exciplex of 1+ in nitrile and alcohol solvents also correlate linearly with ε. The solvent dependency for cationic exciplex emission maxima on ε is ca 1/3 of that for conventional exciplexes, which is ascribed to solvent stabilization of both the excited state and the ground state for cationic exciplexes. Differences in exciplex emissions between nitrile and alcohol solvents for 1+ are attributed to hydrogen bonding, with larger differences in higher hydrogen-bond acidity solvents.Enhanced electromagnetic fields in nanometer gaps of plasmonic structures increase the optical interaction with matter, including Raman scattering and optical absorption. Quantum electron tunneling across sub-1 nm gaps, however, lowers these effects again. Understanding these phenomena requires controlled variation of gap sizes. Mechanically actuated plasmonic antennas enable repeatable tuning of gap sizes from the weak-coupling over the quantum-electron-tunneling to the direct-electrical-contact regime. Gap sizes are controlled electrically via leads that only weakly disturb plasmonic modes. Conductance signals show a near-continuous transition from electron tunneling to metallic contact. As the antenna's absorption cross-section is reduced, thermal expansion effects are negligible, in contrast to conventional break-junctions. Optical scattering spectra reveal first continuous red shifts for decreasing gap sizes and then blue shifts below gaps of 0.3 nm. The approach provides pathways to study opto- and electromolecular processes at the limit of plasmonic sensing.Microplastics in the air have gradually attracted our attention in recent years; however, temporal and spatial trends of microplastics in indoor air are rarely discussed. In the present study, we tracked microplastic fallout in a dormitory, an office and a corridor on both workdays and weekends for three months. In addition, an air conditioner was used to understand airflow influence on microplastic resuspension in the dorm. Among the three sampling sites, the highest average microplastic abundance appeared in the dormitory (9.9×103 MPs/m2/d), followed by the office (1.8×103 MPs/m2/d) and the corridor (1.5×103 MPs/m2/d). In the dormitory, the average MP abundance on weekends (1.4×104 MPs/m2/d) was approximately three times of that on weekdays (5.8×103 MPs/m2/d). In the office, however, the abundance on weekends (1.2×103 MPs/m2/d) was 50% of that on weekdays (2.4×103 MPs/m2/d). Microplastic fallout existed mostly in the form of fibers and showed similar polymer compositions to the textile products used in indoor environments. The airflow tests using air conditioner suggested that airflow turbulence increased resuspension of microplastics. Taken together, we conclude that indoor environments are prone to serious microplastic pollution but microplastic level varies greatly due to different characteristics of indoor setting. Our results also indicate that textile quantity is one of the main factors affecting microplastic abundance in indoor air, while air conditioner-induced airflow turbulence can cause microplastic migration in indoor environments.Enzyme engineering for gain of function requires navigating a large combinatorial sequence space efficiently.   • Purpose Idiopathic junctional ectopic tachycardia (JET) is typically refractory to antiarrhythmic agents. Catheter ablation for JET is feasible but is associated with high risk of unintended atrioventricular (AV) block. There is limited data on the appropriate procedural technique and clinical outcomes with catheter ablation for idiopathic JET in adults. Methods This is a multicenter, retrospective study of all adult patients (age ≥ 18 years) who underwent catheter ablation for idiopathic JET. Patient, procedural characteristics, and long-term outcomes were evaluated. Results Fifteen patients [radiofrequency ablation (RF) = 14 and cryoablation = 1) were treated with catheter ablation. The median age was 58 years with 67% males. All patients underwent mapping of the right atrium and the aortic cusps prior to energy delivery. The location of earliest activation in relation to the atrioventricular (AV) node was postero-superior in 73% (11/15), posterior in 13% (2/15), and superior in 13% (2/15) respectively. Acute success was 100%. Arrhythmia recurrence occurred in 53% (8/15) all of whom underwent a repeat ablation. Methods Twenty-three patients (9 women) with LBBB, examined with MPS and cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR), were included. Tracer uptake on MPS was classified by visual interpretation as typical LBBB pattern (Defect+, n = 13) or not (Defect-, n = 10) and quantitatively. CMR images were evaluated for wall thickness and for myocardial wall motion both by visual assessment and by regional myocardial radial strain from feature tracking, and for presence and location of myocardial fibrosis. ECGs were analyzed regarding QRS duration and the presence of strict criteria for LBBB. Results Wall thickness was slightly lower in the septum compared to the lateral wall in Defect+ patients (5.6 ± 1.1 vs 6.0 ± 1.3 mm, P = 0.03) but not in Defect- patients (5.6 ± 1.0 vs 5.6 ± 0.9 mm, P = 0.84). Defect+ patients showed a larger proportion of dyskinetic segments in the septum and hyperkinetic segments in the lateral wall compared to Defect- patients (P = 0.006 and P = 0.004, respectively). Decreased myocardial radial strain was associated with decreased tracer uptake by MPS (R = 0.37, P less then 0.001). Areas of fibrosis did not match areas with uptake defect on MPS. No differences in ECG variables were seen. Conclusion The heterogeneous regional tracer uptake in some patients with LBBB is related to underlying regional myocardial dyskinesia, wall thickening, and wall thickness rather than stress-induced ischemia, myocardial fibrosis, or specific ECG characteristics.This study aimed to investigate the risk factors for depressive symptoms among rural residents in Brazil. Sadness, loss of pleasure, crying, worthlessness and loss of interest in sex are more likely to be observed in females, and risk factors to this high depression score among rural residents were shown to be female gender, tobacco use, pesticide application, poor self-perceived health and presence of chronic disease. These data contribute to the knowledge of factors determining depressive symptoms among rural residents and may help to expand health policies to improve quality of rural life on these communities and others with similar characteristics.When bones are submitted to mortuaries significant time and resources from both police and anthropologists are required, even if they are subsequently determined to be non-human. A survey of non-human bone casework was made in order to determine the scope of this problem and the different bone types being assessed. This study used data from nine years of casework at the NSW Department of Forensic Medicine (DOFM), Sydney. It analyzed the number of non-human cases that were assessed, the types of animals represented in these bones, the bone elements found, their condition and their location when found. By 2016, over 70% of skeletal cases handled each year by the Sydney DOFM were non-human. The most common animal remains were sheep and cattle, and the skeletal elements appearing in the greatest number of cases were vertebrae, followed by femora and tibiae. Skull fragments were rare. Slightly more cases were found on the surface rather than buried. Fragmentation might have been expected to contribute to difficulties in identifying bones, but in fact 32% of cases consisted of complete bones only. This study shows a very high proportion of non-human forensic casework in the Sydney region. Data presented in this study may prove useful in designing training workshops in non-human bone identification. KEY POINTS/HIGHLIGHTS 1. This study explores the regional uptake and cellular targets of 68Ga-PSMA and 18F-DCFPyL in three different rat glioma models. Methods F98, 9 L, or U87 rat gliomas were implanted into the brains of 38 rats. After 13 days of tumor growth, 68Ga-PSMA (n = 21) or 18F-DCFPyL (n = 17) was injected intravenously, and animals were sacrificed 40 min later. Five animals for each tracer and tumor model were additionally investigated by micro-PET at 20-40 min post injection. Cryosections of the tumor bearing brains were analyzed by ex vivo autoradiography and immunofluorescence staining for blood vessels, microglia, astrocytes, and presence of PSMA. Blood-brain barrier (BBB) permeability was tested by coinjection of Evans blue dye (EBD). 68Ga-PSMA uptake after restoration of BBB integrity by treatment with dexamethasone (Dex) was evaluated in four animals with U87 gliomas. Competition experiments using the PSMA-receptor inhibitor 2-(phosphonomethyl)pentane-1,5-dioic acid (PMPA) were performed for both tracers in two animals each.

  • Heterogeneous transcriptional start site usage by HIV-1 produces 5'-capped RNAs beginning with one, two, or three 5'-guanosines (Cap1G, Cap2G, or Cap3G, respectively) that are either selected for packaging as genomes (Cap1G) or retained in cells as translatable messenger RNAs (mRNAs) (Cap2G and Cap3G). To understand how 5'-guanosine number influences fate, we probed the structures of capped HIV-1 leader RNAs by deuterium-edited nuclear magnetic resonance. The Cap1G transcript adopts a dimeric multihairpin structure that sequesters the cap, inhibits interactions with eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E, and resists decapping. The Cap2G and Cap3G transcripts adopt an alternate structure with an elongated central helix, exposed splice donor residues, and an accessible cap. Extensive remodeling, achieved at the energetic cost of a G-C base pair, explains how a single 5'-guanosine modifies the function of a ~9-kilobase HIV-1 transcript. We use data obtained from the orbiting Akatsuki spacecraft to investigate how the super-rotation is maintained in the cloud layer, where the rotation speed is highest. A thermally induced latitudinal-vertical circulation acts to homogenize the distribution of the angular momentum around the rotational axis. Maintaining the super-rotation requires this to be counteracted by atmospheric waves and turbulence. Among those effects, thermal tides transport the angular momentum, which maintains the rotation peak, near the cloud top at low latitudes.     Heterogeneous transcriptional start site usage by HIV-1 produces 5'-capped RNAs beginning with one, two, or three 5'-guanosines (Cap1G, Cap2G, or Cap3G, respectively) that are either selected for packaging as genomes (Cap1G) or retained in cells as translatable messenger RNAs (mRNAs) (Cap2G and Cap3G). To understand how 5'-guanosine number influences fate, we probed the structures of capped HIV-1 leader RNAs by deuterium-edited nuclear magnetic resonance. The Cap1G transcript adopts a dimeric multihairpin structure that sequesters the cap, inhibits interactions with eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E, and resists decapping. The Cap2G and Cap3G transcripts adopt an alternate structure with an elongated central helix, exposed splice donor residues, and an accessible cap. We use data obtained from the orbiting Akatsuki spacecraft to investigate how the super-rotation is maintained in the cloud layer, where the rotation speed is highest. A thermally induced latitudinal-vertical circulation acts to homogenize the distribution of the angular momentum around the rotational axis. Maintaining the super-rotation requires this to be counteracted by atmospheric waves and turbulence. Among those effects, thermal tides transport the angular momentum, which maintains the rotation peak, near the cloud top at low latitudes.   • Results Nephrinuria was found to be present in 100% of patients with T2DM and macroalbuminuria, in 88% with microalbuminuria, as well as 82% of patients with T2DM and normoalbuminuria. A concentration of urinary nephrin was significantly increased in all groups of subjects with T2DM compared to the control group (p less then 0.05). Nephrinuria correlated statistically negative with eGFR (r=-0.54). ROC analysis showed that nephrin has a total predicted probability of 96% in patients with DN. Results Significantly reduced GDH activity was found in patients compared with controls. The patient group was divided into two subgroups according to median GDH activity at baseline above and below the median GDH, subgroup 1 and subgroup 2, respectively. GDH activity significantly increased from its level at baseline after antipsychotic treatment in subgroup 2. Distribution of non responders / responders to antipsychotic treatment (by PANSS scores) was significantly uneven among subgroups 1 and 2. In subgroup 1, GDH activity levels significantly correlated with PANSS scores after the treatment course. The blood levels of oxidative stress, total antioxidative defence, and lipoprotein-associated phospholipase 2 were analyzed. Results In the group of men with coronary atherosclerosis the levels of myristic and palmitic fatty acids were higher by 59% and 22%, respectively. An increase in the weight percentage of monounsaturated fatty acids was noted, such as palmitoleic, oleic, and octadecenic. Significantly lower levels of polyunsaturated fatty acids, such as linolic, eicosadienoic, eicosatrienoic, arachidonic, eicosapentaenoic, glinolenic, docosapentaenoic, and docosahexaenoic were detected in the group with coronary atherosclerosis.

  • The cooperative binding behavior of a face-directed octahedral metal-organic supercontainer featuring one endo cavity and six exo cavities was thoroughly examined in chloroform solution through ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) titration technique using two representative drug molecules as the guests. The titration curves and their nonlinear fit to Hill equation strongly suggest the efficient encapsulation of the guest molecules by the synthetic host, which exhibit interesting cooperative and stepwise binding behavior. Based on the control experiments using tetranuclear complex as a reference, it is clear that two equivalents of the guest molecules are initially encapsulated inside the endo cavity, followed by the trapping of six additional equivalents of the drug molecules through six exo cavities (1 eq. per exo cavity), and the remaining guests are entrapped by the external pockets. The results provide an in-depth understanding of the cooperative binding behavior of metal-organic supercontainers, which opens up new opportunities for designing synthetic receptors for truly biomimetic functional applications.The production of high-quality seedlings and their use in commercial planting reduce pressure on natural areas. Eugenia dysenterica DC is a native fruit tree from the Brazilian Cerrado, whose nutritional requirements are still unclear. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) supplementation on the physiology, growth and nutrient uptake, and use efficiencies of E. dysenterica seedlings grown in glasshouse conditions. The following rates were used in separate experiments 0, 50, 100, 200, and 400 mg dm-3 N and 0, 100, 200, 400, and 600 mg dm-3 P. The experiment was conducted in a randomized block with four replications. The lowest N rate (50 mg dm-3) increased the stomatal conductance (gS) and, consequently, resulted in the highest transpiration (E), electron transport (ETR), and photosynthetic (A) rates. Also, rates of 50 mg dm-3 and 100 mg dm-3 N increased the Root Uptake Efficiency (RUE) and plant Nutrient Use Efficiency (NUE) for macronutrients and the RUE for micronutrients, stimulating plant growth.     The cooperative binding behavior of a face-directed octahedral metal-organic supercontainer featuring one endo cavity and six exo cavities was thoroughly examined in chloroform solution through ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) titration technique using two representative drug molecules as the guests. The titration curves and their nonlinear fit to Hill equation strongly suggest the efficient encapsulation of the guest molecules by the synthetic host, which exhibit interesting cooperative and stepwise binding behavior. Based on the control experiments using tetranuclear complex as a reference, it is clear that two equivalents of the guest molecules are initially encapsulated inside the endo cavity, followed by the trapping of six additional equivalents of the drug molecules through six exo cavities (1 eq. per exo cavity), and the remaining guests are entrapped by the external pockets. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) supplementation on the physiology, growth and nutrient uptake, and use efficiencies of E. dysenterica seedlings grown in glasshouse conditions. The following rates were used in separate experiments 0, 50, 100, 200, and 400 mg dm-3 N and 0, 100, 200, 400, and 600 mg dm-3 P. The experiment was conducted in a randomized block with four replications. The lowest N rate (50 mg dm-3) increased the stomatal conductance (gS) and, consequently, resulted in the highest transpiration (E), electron transport (ETR), and photosynthetic (A) rates.   • Kabuki syndrome (KS) is a rare heterogeneous phenotypic genetic syndrome, characterized by hypotonia, developmental delay and/or intellectual disability with typical facial features. It is challenging to diagnose KS in newborn and young infant. We report a Thai girl who presented with two rare co-occurrence phenotypes, hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia and midgut malrotation. She had not have distinctive facial dysmorphism during neonatal period. At 4 months of age, she had poor weight gain with some facial features suggestive KS. Singleton whole exome sequencing (WES) was carried out followed by Sanger sequencing of the supposed variant. The result indicated a novel de novo heterozygous KMT2D mutation, c.15364A>T (p.Lys5122*), confirming KS. Our patient revealed rare clinical manifestations from the diverse population and address the benefit of WES in establishing early diagnosis of KS before typical facial gestalt exhibited, which allows timely and appropriate management to maximize developmental achievement.Objectives Altered awareness of motor symptoms is reported in people with Parkinson's disease and Dementia with Lewy Bodies, and may adversely affect quality of life and medication concordance. How symptom awareness is influenced by motor and cognitive disease severity, age and medication use is not fully understood. We carried out a systematic review of the literature on motor symptom awareness in Parkinson's disease and Dementia with Lewy Bodies. Methods Pubmed and Wed of Science were searched for relevant articles published in or prior to March 2019. Data regarding participant demographics, diagnosis, cognitive status, method of assessing awareness and study findings were extracted from relevant publications. Results 16 relevant publications were identified. Motor symptom awareness appears to decline over the course of Parkinson's disease. Imaging studies implicate the prefrontal cortex, with different mechanisms involved in hypokinesia and dyskinesia awareness. The hypothesis that people with right hemisphere based disease would have more severely reduced awareness is only weakly supported. Most studies focused on cognitively intact individuals, and on awareness of dyskinesia rather than hypokinesia. Conclusions Whilst reduced awareness of dyskinesia and to a lesser extent hypokinesia is common, there is a lack of longitudinal data on how awareness changes over time, and how it interacts with global cognitive changes. Motor symptom awareness in Dementia with Lewy Bodies is understudied. Future studies of symptom awareness should include robust assessment of overall cognitive functioning, and use a longitudinal design to elucidate how awareness changes over time. We examined the perspective that heterogeneous province-based variations in prescription opioid availability, facilitated by various control strategies, post-2010 may have created regionally differential supply gaps for non-medical opioid use substituted by synthetic opioid products with differential impacts on mortality risks and outcomes in Canada. METHODS A qualitative study was conducted in two sub-districts of the haor region, including in Derai in the Sunamganj district and Baniachang in the Habiganj district. We facilitated eight focus group discussions with the parents of children under age two. To allow us to explore individual stories, we conducted in-depth interviews with four fathers and four mothers. A capability framework to child growth was used in shaping the interview guides and analysing the data. RESULTS The findings were categorised at four levels a) capabilities for the child, b) capabilities for the mother, c) capabilities for the ng the identified capabilities for child growth in this vulnerable region.BACKGROUND The purpose of this study was to examine the association of physical education (PE) class characteristics, such as lesson context, teacher's physical activity (PA) promotion behavior, and lesson location, with student engagement in moderate- and vigorous-intensity physical activity (MVPA) during PE lessons in elementary school (ES), middle school (MS), and high school (HS). METHODS The study sample included 2106 PE classes from 40 schools located in low-income communities. The System for Observing Fitness Instruction Time (SOFIT) was used to assess lesson context, teacher's behavior, and student PA during PE lessons. Mixed models were used to examine the association between PE class characteristics and the probability of meeting the recommended level of MVPA during PE lessons (MVPA ≥50%), accounting for within-school random effects and school characteristics. RESULTS Almost all PE classes (90%) with ≥60-70% of lesson time spent in motor content and ≥ 10-20% in teacher's in-class PA promotion met the recommended level of MVPA across the school levels.

Patterns of synthetic opioid availability and related mortality are heterogeneous across Canada, and differing explanations exist as to their differentiated proliferation. We examined the perspective that heterogeneous province-based variations in prescription opioid availability, facilitated by various control strategies, post-2010 may have created regionally differential supply gaps for non-medical opioid use substituted by synthetic opioid products with differential impacts on mortality risks and outcomes in Canada. METHODS We examined annual, prescription opioid dispensing rates and changes in the ten Canadian provinces (for the periods of 1) 2011-2018, 2) 'peak-year'-to-2018) in Defined Daily Doses/1000 population/day, derived from data from a large representative, stratified sample of community pharma explanation that these reductions created supply gaps for non-medical opioid use increasingly filled by illicit, synthetic opioids differentially contributing to opioid-related deaths, generating un-intended adverse effects for previous interventions. Haor areas are located in the north-eastern part of the country and are vulnerable to seasonal flooding. The key objective of this study is to identify the capabilities of the parents and their children that shape multidimensional child growth outcomes in the haor region in the first thousand days of life. METHODS A qualitative study was conducted in two sub-districts of the haor region, including in Derai in the Sunamganj district and Baniachang in the Habiganj district. We facilitated eight focus group discussions with the parents of children under age two. To allow us to explore individual stories, we conducted in-depth interviews with four fathers and four mothers. A capability framework to child growth was used in shaping the interview guides and analysing the data. RESULTS The findings were categorised at four levels a) capabilities for the child, b) capabilities for the mother, c) capabilities for the ng the identified capabilities for child growth in this vulnerable region.BACKGROUND The purpose of this study was to examine the association of physical education (PE) class characteristics, such as lesson context, teacher's physical activity (PA) promotion behavior, and lesson location, with student engagement in moderate- and vigorous-intensity physical activity (MVPA) during PE lessons in elementary school (ES), middle school (MS), and high school (HS). METHODS The study sample included 2106 PE classes from 40 schools located in low-income communities. The System for Observing Fitness Instruction Time (SOFIT) was used to assess lesson context, teacher's behavior, and student PA during PE lessons. Mixed models were used to examine the association between PE class characteristics and the probability of meeting the recommended level of MVPA during PE lessons (MVPA ≥50%), accounting for within-school random effects and school characteristics. RESULTS Almost all PE classes (90%) with ≥60-70% of lesson time spent in motor content and ≥ 10-20% in teacher's in-class PA promotion met the recommended level of MVPA across the school levels.

A methodological assessment was performed. Results Sixty-two studies were included, of which thirty-eight measured endogenous lubricin in joint injury or osteoarthritis. Nineteen papers found an increase or no change in lubricin and nineteen reported a decrease. Papers that reported a decrease in lubricin were cited four times more often than those that reported an increase. Fifteen papers described lubricin supplementation, and all reported a beneficial effect. Eleven papers described lubricin knock-out models. Conclusions The human literature reveals similar distributions of papers reporting increased lubricin as compared to decreased lubricin in osteoarthritis.   • Hyperuricemia is associated with all-cause and cardiovascular mortality. However, the threshold value of serum uric acid levels for increased risk of mortality has not been determined. This large-scale cohort study used a nationwide database of 500,511 Japanese subjects (40-74 years) who participated in the annual health checkup and were followed up for 7 years. The association of serum uric acid levels at baseline with cardiovascular and all-cause mortality was examined. The Cox proportional hazard model analysis with adjustment for possible confounders revealed that the all-cause and cardiovascular mortality showed a J-shaped association with serum uric acid levels at baseline in both men and women. A significant increase in the hazard ratio for all-cause mortality was noted with serum uric acid levels ≥ 7 mg/dL in men and ≥ 5 mg/dL in women. A similar trend was observed for cardiovascular mortality. This study disclosed that even a slight increase in serum uric acid levels was an independent risk factor for all-cause and cardiovascular mortality in both men and women in a community-based population. Because of the economic importance, interactions between citrus and microbes have been studied relatively extensively, especially citrus-pathogen interactions. However, the spatial distribution of microbial taxa in citrus trees remains under-studied. In this study, Citrus reticulata cv. Chachiensis was examined for the spatial distribution of microbes by sequencing 16S rRNA genes. More than 2.5 million sequences were obtained from 60 samples collected from soil, roots, leaves, and phloem. The dominant microbial phyla from all samples were Proteobacteria, Actinobacteria and Acidobacteria. The composition and structure of microbial communities in different samples were analyzed by PCoA, CAP, Anosim and MRPP methods. Variation in microbial species between samples were analyzed and the indicator microbes of each sample group were identified. Our results suggested that the microbial communities from different tissues varied significantly and the microenvironments of tree tissues could affect the composition of its microbial community.Cell migration involves dynamic changes in cell shape. Intricate patterns of cell shape can be analyzed and classified using advanced shape descriptors, including spherical harmonics (SPHARM). Though SPHARM have been used to analyze and classify migrating cells, such classification did not exploit SPHARM spectra in their dynamics. Here, we examine whether additional information from dynamic SPHARM improves classification of cell migration patterns. We combine the static and dynamic SPHARM approach with a support-vector-machine classifier and compare their classification accuracies. We demonstrate that the dynamic SPHARM analysis classifies cell migration patterns more accurately than the static one for both synthetic and experimental data. Furthermore, by comparing the computed accuracies with that of a naive classifier, we can identify the experimental conditions and model parameters that significantly affect cell shape. This capability should - in the future - help to pinpoint factors that play an essential role in cell migration.
