This study aimed to compare the clinical effect, within a patient, of four injections with low doses of rimabotulinumtoxinB with the effect of the preceding abobotulinumtoxinA (aboBoNT/A) injections.

    In 17 patients with cervical dystonia (CD) who had become resistant to aboBoNT/A, the clinical effect of the first four rimabotulinumtoxinB (rimaBoNT/B) injections was compared to the effect of the first four aboBoNT/A injections using a global assessment scale and the TSUI score.

Our work reports that the most evaluated domains are analytical validity, clinical validity and clinical utility and economic aspects.Caffeine intake is strongly linked to lipid metabolism. We previously reported the age-dependent physiological effects of caffeine intake in a Caenorhabditis elegans model. Since nutritional status can actively influence metabolism and overall health, in this study, we evaluated the effect of caffeine intake on lipid metabolism in adult-stage C. elegans. We found that, in C. elegans, fat storage and the level of phosphoethanolamine (PE) were significantly reduced with caffeine intake. In addition, mitochondrial activity decreased and mitochondrial morphology was disrupted, and the expression of oxidative stress response genes, hsp-6, gst-4, and daf-16, was induced by caffeine intake. Furthermore, the level of an energy metabolism sensor, phospho-AMP-activated protein kinase, was increased, whereas the expression of the sterol regulatory element binding protein gene and its target stearoyl-CoA desaturase genes, fat-5, -6, and -7, was decreased with caffeine intake. These findings suggest that caffeine intake causes mitochondrial dysfunction and reduces lipogenesis. Interestingly, these changes induced by caffeine intake were partially alleviated by PE supplementation, suggesting that the reduction in mitochondrial activity and lipogenesis is in part because of the low PE level, and proper dietary supplementation can improve organelle integrity.In-service teachers have various emotional and motivational experiences that can influence their continuance intention towards online-only instruction during the COVID-19 pandemic, as a significant stress factor for their workplace. Derived from the Self-Determination Theory (SDT), Job Demands-Resources Model (JD-R), and Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), the present research model includes technological pedagogical knowledge (TPK) self-efficacy (SE), intrinsic (IM) and extrinsic (EM) work motivation, and occupational stress (OS) (i.e., burnout and technostress which have been examined in tandem) as key dimensions to explain the better continuance intention among in-service teachers to use online-only instruction (CI). Data for the research model were collected from 980 in-service teachers during the COVID-19 outbreak between April and May 2020. Overall, the structural model explained 70% of the variance in teachers' CI. Motivational practices were directly and indirectly linked through OS with CI. The findings showed that IM has the most directly significant effect on teachers' CI, followed by TPK-SE, and OS as significant, but lower predictors. IM was positively associated with TPK-SE and negatively associated with EM. The results offered valuable insights into how motivation constructs were related to OS and to a better understanding online instruction in an unstable work context, in order to support teachers in coping during working remotely.Comprehending the dynamic change characteristics of land use/cover and the driving factors causing the change are prerequisites for protecting land resources. The spatial distribution pattern of cultivated land and landscape shows the change characteristics gradually from Dongting Lake to the surroundings. Among the driving factors of cultivated land changes, the influence of human activities was gradually increasing, while the natural factors were decreasing. The cultivated land landscape pattern index and the overall landscape pattern index have a significant positive correlation, showing relatively consistent change trend and spatial distribution characteristics. We believe that the decrease of cultivated land area has a certain relationship with the increase of landscape fragmentation in the Dongting Lake Basin. Our research is expected to provide a reference for strengthening regional cultivated land management and rational development and utilization of regional land resources.A soldier's occupational physical task requirements are diverse and varied. However, the type of physical training that most effectively improves soldiers' occupational task requirements has not been studied previously. The purpose of this study was to determine the important strength characteristics for soldiers during a repeated simulated military task course, and the type of training that may be effective to improve these abilities during a specialized military training period. Forty-two (n = 42) soldiers participated in the study. They were divided into three training groups; a soldier task-specific training group (TSG, n = 17), a strength training group (STG, n = 15), and a control group (CON, n = 10). Participants were measured before (PRE), middle (MID) and after (POST) the 12-week training intervention for strength performance and simulated military task test. Simulated military task performance improved significantly in TSG and STG between the PRE and MID measurements (from 9.4 to 15.7%). TSG and STG improved in various spilt times, especially in strength tasks; casualty drag (from 8.3 to 13.6%) and kettlebell carry (from 13.2 to 22.4%) between the PRE and MID measurements. The present study showed that both the training of TSG and STG were more effective than the training of CON (control group) in terms of improving the performance in the repeated simulated military task course. The present study showed that training of TSG was as effective as STG to improve repeated simulated military task course time. Therefore, an optimal training combination should include high-intensity simulated military task field training and strength training programmed with consideration of the military training phase and environmental possibilities.

This may be due in part to programmed disruption of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis (HPA) activity and responsiveness. However, it is unknown if the HPA is affected and similar behavioural outcomes occur following alcohol exposure limited to the time around conception, the periconceptional (PC) period. Female Sprague-Dawley rats were treated with PCEtOH (12.5 % v/v EtOH liquid diet) or a control diet from four days before conception, until embryonic day 4. Offspring at 3-months of age underwent the forced swim test (FST) and social interaction test. HPA reactivity tests (combined dexamethasone suppression test (DST) and corticotropin-releasing hormone test (CST), 30-minute restraint stress) were performed at 5 months of age and then pituitary and adrenal glands were collected for expression of genes involved in HPA regulation. PCEtOH exposure significantly increased immobility (p less then 0.05) in both sexes in the FST. PCEtOH also increased the duration of affiliative behaviour (p less then 0.05) within the social interaction test in female offspring. PCEtOH programmed HPA hyperactivity in both sexes during the DST/CST test (p less then 0.05); however, there was no impact of PCEtOH on plasma corticosterone concentration in response to restraint stress. There was no significant impact of PCEtOH on mRNA expression in glucocorticoid signalling genes in the pituitary gland or the steroidogenic pathway in the adrenal gland. This study suggests that alcohol exposure, even when limited to a short period around conception, can program mental illness-like phenotypes, and this was associated with alterations in HPA responsiveness. The current study examined whether acute and chronic stress interact to influence how children make emotional inferences. Eighty-nine youths (aged 11-15 years) underwent a novel video-based social stressor. Children completed an emotion recognition task prior to and after the stressor in which they saw integrated displays of facial expressions and contexts depicting congruent or incongruent emotional information. Eye tracking assessed changes in attention to the stimuli. Children became more likely to use and attended more to facial information than contextual information when labeling emotions following exposure to acute stress. Moreover, the effect of acute stress on use of facial information to label emotions was stronger for children who experienced higher levels of chronic stress. These data suggest that acute stress shifts attention towards facial information while suppressing processing of other sources of emotional information, and that youths with a history of chronic stress are more susceptible to these effects.
    Alterations in major stress response systems are present during the immediate aftermath of trauma and may play a role in determining risk for developing posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). However, the dynamics and determinants of stress responses during this acute recovery phase, and their relevance for longitudinal clinical course and prognosis, have yet to be fully examined. This may be due in part to programmed disruption of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis (HPA) activity and responsiveness. However, it is unknown if the HPA is affected and similar behavioural outcomes occur following alcohol exposure limited to the time around conception, the periconceptional (PC) period. Female Sprague-Dawley rats were treated with PCEtOH (12.5 % v/v EtOH liquid diet) or a control diet from four days before conception, until embryonic day 4. Offspring at 3-months of age underwent the forced swim test (FST) and social interaction test. HPA reactivity tests (combined dexamethasone suppression test (DST) and corticotropin-releasing hormone test (CST), 30-minute restraint stress) were performed at 5 months of age and then pituitary and adrenal glands were collected for expression of genes involved in HPA regulation. PCEtOH exposure significantly increased immobility (p less then 0.05) in both sexes in the FST. PCEtOH also increased the duration of affiliative behaviour (p less then 0.05) within the social interaction test in female offspring. PCEtOH programmed HPA hyperactivity in both sexes during the DST/CST test (p less then 0.05); however, there was no impact of PCEtOH on plasma corticosterone concentration in response to restraint stress. Children became more likely to use and attended more to facial information than contextual information when labeling emotions following exposure to acute stress. Moreover, the effect of acute stress on use of facial information to label emotions was stronger for children who experienced higher levels of chronic stress. These data suggest that acute stress shifts attention towards facial information while suppressing processing of other sources of emotional information, and that youths with a history of chronic stress are more susceptible to these effects. The index is useful for the diagnosis of current situation and allows the identification of the best EU players in terms of readiness of EU nations to pass to a sustainable circular economy. The findings of this paper add value to the current knowledge on circular economy and portray the circularity as being grounded on a safe, rational and socially just transformation. The results show that Landsat-8 and Sentinel-2 had acceptable accuracy and good consistency in DOC estimation so that jointly using them can improve the observation frequency. In different seasons from 2013 to 2018, DOC was typically higher in spring and autumn but lower in summer. Monthly spatiotemporal variations of DOC in 2018 were also observed. The image-derived DOC spatiotemporal variations show that DOC was covaried with Saginaw River discharge (r = 0.82) and also weakly and negatively correlated with water temperature (r = -0.6). The analysis involved particularly mass removal rates (MRR) and first-order removal rate coefficients of BOD5 and total nitrogen (kA and kv for VF and HF filters, respectively, and k20 as a parameter averaged for a temperature of 20 °C). It was found that the higher the load of pollutants applied to the beds, the higher MRR values were obtained. The average k-rates in analyzed systems were mostly lower than those reported in the literature, especially in the case of total nitrogen. Its removal obtained in horizontal flow beds was kv = 0.002-0.042 d-1, while in vertical flow systems kA varied from 0.007 m d-1 to 0.0037 m d-1. According to data given by previous studies, first-order reaction rates for nitrogen removal varied in range from kv = 0.048 d-1 to kv = 0.19 d-1 and kA from 0.007 to 0.1 m d-1 in HF and VF beds, respectively.   • The present study aimed to evaluate xanthotoxin's influence on male and female Swiss ****'s depression-like behaviors and investigate the potential mechanism of this effect. Naturally derived furanocoumarin (the Apiaceae family), xanthotoxin, administered acutely (12.5 mg/kg), diminished the immobility level in the forced swim test only in males. The immobility level was lower in females than males, which may be associated with a higher serotonin level in the female prefrontal cortex. A dose-dependent increase of serotonin and noradrenaline was reported in the reverse-phase ion-pair liquid chromatography in the female prefrontal cortex but not in the hippocampus. We suggest that xanthotoxin may exert antidepressant properties and affect males and females differently. The increasing level of serotonin in the male and female prefrontal cortex may underlie this effect.
    Visuo-spatial working memory (VSWM) performances undergo a decline throughout aging and are affected by the space in which the task is performed (reaching or navigational). Cerebral oxygenation and cognitive capabilities could explain this decline. We assessed the effects of age on cerebral oxygenation of the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (dlPFC) in VSWM tasks in reaching and navigational space. We also assessed cognitive correlates of VSWM performance in each space.

    Thirty-one (31) young adults (YA) and 24 healthy older adults (OA) performed a battery of neuropsychological tests and the electronic Corsi Block-tapping Test in reaching space (e-CBT) and in navigational space on the "Virtual Carpet" (VWCT). Participants were asked to memorize and recall a sequential pathway, progressively increasing from 2 to 9 blocks. Their span score reflected VSWM performance. The dlPFC oxygenation (oxyhaemoglobin ΔO
    Hb and deoxyhaemoglobin ΔHHb) was measured by using functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS) during the encoding of the sequential pathway in both tasks.

    YA had higher span scores than OA in both spaces. We identified a significantly stronger decrease of ΔHHb in YA compared to OA during encoding in VWCT. OA also exhibited significantly lower cerebral oxygenation in VWCT compared to e-CBT. A decrease of ΔHHb was also associated with a better performance in VWCT. Finally, we identified the association of mental rotation and executive functions with VSWM performance in both tasks.

We and others have reported that maternal exposure to PFAS is associated with adverse birth outcomes due to altered placental functions. In this study, we investigated the effects of two major PFAS compounds, perfluorobutane sulfonate (PFBS) and perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS), on the regulation of the production of angiogenic factors and stress response in placental multinucleated syncytial BeWo cells using qRT-PCR and ELISA. Using this in vitro model, we showed that 1) PFOS or PFBS treatment did not seem to interrupt BeWo cell fusion through syncytins; 2) Exposure to PFOS at 10 μM decreased a potent angiogenic factor PlGF gene expression, which is implicated in preeclampsia; 3) Exposure to either PFOS or PFBS significantly decreased the production of CGB7 and hCG except hCG secretion in PFOS (10 nM) and PFBS (100 nM) treatment groups; 4) Exposure to PFOS (10 μM) increased the gene expression of the stress response molecules CRH while neither PFOS nor PFBS treatment affected a stress mitigation factor 11β-HSD2 expression. Our results demonstrate that exposure to PFOS or PFBS impacts several key pathways involved in placental cell functions. PFOS seems more potent than PFBS. These novel findings provide a potential explanation for the adverse reproductive complications associated with prenatal exposure to PFOS or PFBS, including preeclampsia and contribute to our knowledge of the reproductive toxicity of PFAS, specifically PFOS and PFBS.
    Left main coronary arterial (LMCA) atresia is a rare coronary arterial anomaly with extremely limited data on the optimal management. We aimed to report our single-surgeon experience of the ostioplasty in patients with LMCA atresia.

    From July 2018 to December 2019, pediatric patients who presented with LMCA atresia and subsequently underwent surgical coronary ostioplasty were recruited into this retrospective study. Concomitant mitral repair was applied when the regurgitation was moderate or more severe.

    A total of 9 patients diagnosed with LMCA atresia were included. Mitral regurgitation was found in all of them, including 6 (66.7%) severe, 1 (11.1%) moderate, and 2 (22.2%) mild. In addition to ischemic lesions, which were found in 7 (77.8%) patients, structural mitral problems were also common (presented in 7 [77.8%] patients). All the patients underwent coronary ostioplasty with autologous pulmonary arterial patch augmenting the anterior wall of the neo-ostium. Mean aortic cross clamp time and cardiopulmonary bypass time was 88.

The immobility level was lower in females than males, which may be associated with a higher serotonin level in the female prefrontal cortex. A dose-dependent increase of serotonin and noradrenaline was reported in the reverse-phase ion-pair liquid chromatography in the female prefrontal cortex but not in the hippocampus. We suggest that xanthotoxin may exert antidepressant properties and affect males and females differently. Visuo-spatial working memory (VSWM) performances undergo a decline throughout aging and are affected by the space in which the task is performed (reaching or navigational). Cerebral oxygenation and cognitive capabilities could explain this decline. We assessed the effects of age on cerebral oxygenation of the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (dlPFC) in VSWM tasks in reaching and navigational space. We also assessed cognitive correlates of VSWM performance in each space. Thirty-one (31) young adults (YA) and 24 healthy older adults (OA) performed a battery of neuropsychological tests and the electronic Corsi Block-tapping Test in reaching space (e-CBT) and in navigational space on the "Virtual Carpet" (VWCT). Participants were asked to memorize and recall a sequential pathway, progressively increasing from 2 to 9 blocks. Their span score reflected VSWM performance. The dlPFC oxygenation (oxyhaemoglobin ΔO Hb and deoxyhaemoglobin ΔHHb) was measured by using functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS) during the encoding of the sequential pathway in both tasks. YA had higher span scores than OA in both spaces. We identified a significantly stronger decrease of ΔHHb in YA compared to OA during encoding in VWCT. OA also exhibited significantly lower cerebral oxygenation in VWCT compared to e-CBT. A decrease of ΔHHb was also associated with a better performance in VWCT. Here, we investigated the effects of cf-mtDNA on mouse ovarian granulosa cell function and on the developmental competence of oocytes matured in vitro. Granulosa cells in the cf-mtDNA treatment group had a lower ATP content (P less then 0.05), a higher apoptotic cell percentage (P less then 0.01), and higher mRNA and protein levels of apoptosis-related factors than the control group (P less then 0.01). TLR9, NF-кB p65 and MAPK p38 expression levels in granulosa cells were significantly increased in the cf-mtDNA treatment group (P less then 0.05). In this study, we investigated the effects of two major PFAS compounds, perfluorobutane sulfonate (PFBS) and perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS), on the regulation of the production of angiogenic factors and stress response in placental multinucleated syncytial BeWo cells using qRT-PCR and ELISA. Using this in vitro model, we showed that 1) PFOS or PFBS treatment did not seem to interrupt BeWo cell fusion through syncytins; 2) Exposure to PFOS at 10 μM decreased a potent angiogenic factor PlGF gene expression, which is implicated in preeclampsia; 3) Exposure to either PFOS or PFBS significantly decreased the production of CGB7 and hCG except hCG secretion in PFOS (10 nM) and PFBS (100 nM) treatment groups; 4) Exposure to PFOS (10 μM) increased the gene expression of the stress response molecules CRH while neither PFOS nor PFBS treatment affected a stress mitigation factor 11β-HSD2 expression. Our results demonstrate that exposure to PFOS or PFBS impacts several key pathways involved in placental cell functions. PFOS seems more potent than PFBS. Left main coronary arterial (LMCA) atresia is a rare coronary arterial anomaly with extremely limited data on the optimal management. We aimed to report our single-surgeon experience of the ostioplasty in patients with LMCA atresia. From July 2018 to December 2019, pediatric patients who presented with LMCA atresia and subsequently underwent surgical coronary ostioplasty were recruited into this retrospective study. Concomitant mitral repair was applied when the regurgitation was moderate or more severe. A total of 9 patients diagnosed with LMCA atresia were included. Mitral regurgitation was found in all of them, including 6 (66.7%) severe, 1 (11.1%) moderate, and 2 (22.2%) mild. In addition to ischemic lesions, which were found in 7 (77.8%) patients, structural mitral problems were also common (presented in 7 [77.8%] patients). All the patients underwent coronary ostioplasty with autologous pulmonary arterial patch augmenting the anterior wall of the neo-ostium.     Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most common and aggressive brain tumor. Metformin, an anti-diabetic drug, can suppress tumor cells. Exosomes from GBM cells contribute to intercellular communication, tumor aggressiveness, and therapeutic resistance. We studied the effect of metformin on the exosomal secretory pathway in U87MGcells.

    Cell survival against metformin was investigated using MTT assay. Expression of miRNA-21, miRNA-155, and miRNA-182, as well as the genes involved in exosome biogenesis and secretion such as Rab27a, Rab27b, Rab11, CD63, and Alix were calculated by real time-PCR. The expression of CD63 protein was analyzed by western blotting, while the subcellular distribution of CD63 protein was monitored by flow cytometry. Exosomes were characterized by transmission and scanning electron microscopes, and flow cytometry. Amount of exosomes was assayed using acetylcholinesterase activity assay and ELISA. The expression of autophagic markers LC3 and P62 were assessed using ELISA.

    We report herein on the clinical, histological and immunohistochemical aspects of eight cases of DMF identified between 2008and 2019at the dermatopathology laboratory of Strasbourg.

Most cases involved the upper body (6 cases), with one case on the abdomen and one on the side. The lesions presented as a solitary asymptomatic red or reddish brown nodule or plaque that gradually developed. The plaques were hard and caused functional discomfort on movement of the neck. Well-circumscribed spindle cell proliferation was noted in the reticular dermis parallel to the epidermis, without mitotic figures or cytological atypia. The subcutis was infiltical (young age, extensive lesion), histological (horizontal proliferation in the reticular dermis) or immunohistochemical (positive expression of calponin).

    Seventeen patients were involved as interview participants.

    Using a basic descriptive approach, we conducted and analyzed semi-structured telephone interviews with 50 participants who were involved in developing guidelines on various topics. The sample included 17 patients, 16 clinicians and 17 managers from a total of 7 countries.

    Participants used one or more approaches to identify preferences, patient panelists, focus groups, surveys and review of published research, despite acknowledging they identified similar preferences. Participants said they incorporated preferences in all guideline development steps, but provided little detail of specific processes. Few participants said their guidelines explicitly reported how patients were engaged, preferences ideative researcher and systematic reviews) and key issues that warrant ongoing research (e.g. how best to incorporate and report preferences).
    While the benefits of patient-centered care have been consistently demonstrated in the health literature, there exists a dearth of pathway research within health outcome research, especially within the chronic pain context. This study examined the relationship between perceived physician empathy and patient psychological distress and its underlying mechanism.

    A community sample of 259 adults with chronic pain completed online questionnaires measuring patient-perceived physician empathy, treatment satisfaction, depressive and anxiety symptoms. Analyses were conducted using correlational and mediation analyses.

    Results revealed perceived empathy to be positively and strongly correlated with treatment satisfaction (r = .72, p < .001). A significant negative correlation was also demonstrated between perceived empathy and depressive symptoms (r = -.13, p < .05), but not between perceived empathy and anxious symptoms (r = .03, p = .65). Results revealed significant mediation models between perceived empathy and patient depressive symptoms (indirect effect B = -.19, SE =.06, 95 % CI [-.31, -.09]) and anxious symptoms (indirect effect B = -.24, SE = .06, 95 % CI [-.35, -.14]), via treatment satisfaction as mediator and including covariates.

Consistently, the inhibition of glutamine uptake in the allograft model exposed to low temperature, effectively reduced tumor volume and weight. The printed PCLA-F scaffold was fabricated using a fused deposition modeling printer, and it had a layered, orthogonally oriented 3D structure. The printed scaffold fabrication method was clearly more efficient than the salt leaching method in terms of productivity and repeatability. In the in vivo fluorescence imaging of **** and gel permeation chromatography of scaffolds removed from rats, the salt-leached PCLA scaffolds showed slightly faster degradation than the printed PCLA scaffolds. In the inflammation reaction, the printed PCLA scaffolds induced a slightly stronger inflammation reaction due to the slower biodegradation. Silicon-based IP-shaped nanopore structures create a homogeneous electric field gradient within a nanopore device, indicating that most of the analytes can pass through a nanopore by electrophoresis, even though the analytes are suspended far from the nanopore entrance. In addition, the nanostructures can be fabricated only by photolithography. The present study suggests a high potential for inverted pyramid shapes to serve as nanopore devices for high-throughput sensing.Composite spectrum (CS) is a data-fusion technique that reduces the number of spectra to be analyzed, simplifying the analysis process for machine monitoring and fault detection. In this work, vibration signals from five components of a combine harvester (thresher, chopper, straw walkers, sieve box, and engine) are obtained by placing four accelerometers along the combine-harvester chassis in non-optimal locations. Four individual spectra (one from each accelerometer) and three CS (non-coherent, coherent and poly-coherent spectra) from 18 cases are analyzed. The different cases result from the combination of three working conditions of the components-deactivated (off), balanced (healthy), and unbalanced (faulty)-and two speeds-idle and maximum revolutions per minute (RPM). The results showed that (i) the peaks can be identified in the four individual spectra that correspond to the rotational speeds of the five components in the analysis; (ii) the three formulations of the CS retain the relevant information from the individual spectra, thereby reducing the number of spectra required for monitoring and detecting rotating unbalances within a combine harvester; and, (iii) data noise reduction is observed in coherent and poly-coherent CS with respect to the non-coherent CS and the individual spectra. This study demonstrates that the rotating unbalances of various components within agricultural machines, can be detected with a reduced number of accelerometers located in non-optimal positions, and that it is feasible to simplify the monitoring with CS. Overall, the coherent CS may be the best composite spectra formulation in order to monitor and detect rotating unbalances in agricultural machines.The clinical picture of depressive disorders is characterized by a plethora of somatic symptoms, psychomotor retardation, and, particularly, anhedonia. The number of patients with residual symptoms or treatment resistance is high. Touch is the basic communication among humans and animals. Its application professionally in the form of, e.g., psychoactive massage therapy, has been shown in the past to reduce the somatic and mental symptoms of depression and anxiety. Here, we investigated the effects of a specially developed affect-regulating massage therapy (ARMT) vs. individual treatment with a standardized relaxation procedure, progressive muscle relaxation (PMR), in 57 outpatients with depression. Patients were given one ARMT or PMR session weekly over 4 weeks. Changes in somatic and cognitive symptoms were assessed by standard psychiatric instruments (Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD) and the ****-Rafaelsen-Melancholia-Scale (BRMS)) as well as a visual analogue scale. Silicon-based IP-shaped nanopore structures create a homogeneous electric field gradient within a nanopore device, indicating that most of the analytes can pass through a nanopore by electrophoresis, even though the analytes are suspended far from the nanopore entrance. In addition, the nanostructures can be fabricated only by photolithography. The present study suggests a high potential for inverted pyramid shapes to serve as nanopore devices for high-throughput sensing.Composite spectrum (CS) is a data-fusion technique that reduces the number of spectra to be analyzed, simplifying the analysis process for machine monitoring and fault detection. In this work, vibration signals from five components of a combine harvester (thresher, chopper, straw walkers, sieve box, and engine) are obtained by placing four accelerometers along the combine-harvester chassis in non-optimal locations. Four individual spectra (one from each accelerometer) and three CS (non-coherent, coherent and poly-coherent spectra) from 18 cases are analyzed. The different cases result from the combination of three working conditions of the components-deactivated (off), balanced (healthy), and unbalanced (faulty)-and two speeds-idle and maximum revolutions per minute (RPM). The results showed that (i) the peaks can be identified in the four individual spectra that correspond to the rotational speeds of the five components in the analysis; (ii) the three formulations of the CS retain the relevant information from the individual spectra, thereby reducing the number of spectra required for monitoring and detecting rotating unbalances within a combine harvester; and, (iii) data noise reduction is observed in coherent and poly-coherent CS with respect to the non-coherent CS and the individual spectra. This study demonstrates that the rotating unbalances of various components within agricultural machines, can be detected with a reduced number of accelerometers located in non-optimal positions, and that it is feasible to simplify the monitoring with CS. Overall, the coherent CS may be the best composite spectra formulation in order to monitor and detect rotating unbalances in agricultural machines.The clinical picture of depressive disorders is characterized by a plethora of somatic symptoms, psychomotor retardation, and, particularly, anhedonia. Its application professionally in the form of, e.g., psychoactive massage therapy, has been shown in the past to reduce the somatic and mental symptoms of depression and anxiety. Here, we investigated the effects of a specially developed affect-regulating massage therapy (ARMT) vs. individual treatment with a standardized relaxation procedure, progressive muscle relaxation (PMR), in 57 outpatients with depression. Patients were given one ARMT or PMR session weekly over 4 weeks. Changes in somatic and cognitive symptoms were assessed by standard psychiatric instruments (Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD) and the Bech-Rafaelsen-Melancholia-Scale (BRMS)) as well as a visual analogue scale.     The impact of COVID-19 on pre-hospital and hospital services and hence on the prevalence and outcomes of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests (OHCA) remain unclear. The review aimed to evaluate the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic on the incidence, process, and outcomes of OHCA.

    A systematic review of PubMed, EMBASE, and pre-print websites was performed. Studies reporting comparative data on OHCA within the same jurisdiction, before and during the COVID-19 pandemic were included. Study quality was assessed based on the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale.

    Ten studies reporting data from 35,379 OHCA events were included. There was a 120% increase in OHCA events since the pandemic. Time from OHCA to ambulance arrival was longer during the pandemic (p = 0.036). While mortality (OR = 0.67, 95%-CI 0.49-0.91) and supraglottic airway use (OR = 0.36, 95%-CI 0.27-0.46) was higher during the pandemic, automated external defibrillator use (OR = 1.78 95%-CI 1.06-2.98), return of spontaneous circulation (OR = 1.63, 95%CI 1.18-2.26) and intubation (OR = 1.87, 95%-CI 1.12--3.13) was more common before the pandemic. More patients survived to hospital admission (OR = 1.75, 95%-CI 1.42-2.17) and discharge (OR = 1.65, 95%-CI 1.28-2.12) before the pandemic. Bystander CPR (OR = 1.18, 95%-CI 0.95-1.46), unwitnessed OHCA (OR = 0.84, 95%-CI 0.66-1.07), paramedic-resuscitation attempts (OR = 1.19 95%-CI 1.00-1.42) and mechanical CPR device use (OR = 1.57 95%-CI 0.55-4.55) did not defer significantly.

    The incidence and mortality following OHCA was higher during the COVID-19 pandemic. There were significant variations in resuscitation practices during the pandemic. Research to define optimal processes of pre-hospital care during a pandemic is urgently required.

Adiponectin (APN) is reported to become a potential cardioprotective molecule, but whether and how APN regulates mitochondrial dysfunction and ER stress is not clear. In this study, we used rotenone-treated HL-1 atrial cardiomyocytes as an in vitro model of mitochondrial dysfunction to investigate the possible interactions between mitochondrial dysfunction and ER stress and explore the effects of APN on rotenone-induced cytotoxicity and the underlying mechanisms. It found that rotenone treatment significantly activated the ER stress PRK-like endoplasmic reticulum kinase (PERK)-dependent pathway, decreased autophagic flux and APN expression in a dose-dependent manner. Pretreatment of GSK2606414, an inhibitor of PERK kinase activity, attenuated the rotenone-induced decrease of APN expression. In return exogenous APN pretreatment inhibited rotenone-induced ER stress and activated autophagy via AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) activation and protected HL-1 cells against apoptosis and enhanced the viability after rotenone treatment.   • The continued rise in the extraction of unconventional oil and gas across the globe poses many questions about how to manage these relatively new waste-streams. Produced water, the primary waste by-product, contains a diverse number of anthropogenic additives together with the numerous hydrocarbons extracted from the well. Due to potential environmental hazards, it is critical to characterize the chemical composition of this type of waste before proper disposal or remediation/reuse. In this work, a thin film solid phase microextraction approach was developed and optimized to characterize produced water. The thin film device consisted of hydrophilic-lipophilic balance particles embedded in polydimethylsiloxane and immobilized on a carbon mesh surface. These devices were chosen to provide broad extraction coverage and high reusability. Various parameters were evaluated to ensure reproducible results while minimizing analyte loss. This optimized protocol, consisting of a 15 min extraction followed by a short (3 s) rinsing step, enabled the reproducible analysis of produced water without any sample pretreatment. Extraction efficiency was suitable for both produced water additives and hydrocarbons. The developed approach was able to tentatively identify a total of 201 compounds from produced water samples, by using one-dimensional gas chromatography hyphenated to mass spectrometry and data deconvolution. © 2020 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Seven hundred and fifty-six underwent TAVI and were categorized according to ADHF as the initial clinical presentation into two groups ADHF group (n = 261) and no-ADHF group (n = 495). Pre as well as periprocedural outcomes and 1 year mortality were analyzed. RESULTS Among the patients planned for the TAVI procedure, 45 patients remained untreated 35 patients died while waiting to undergo TAVI which represented 20% of all deaths in our study, ADHF was observed in 23 of 45 (51%) these untreated patients. The 1-year all-cause mortality rate was significantly higher in the ADHF group versus the no-ADHF group (27% vs. 15%, p  less then  .0001). In multivariate analysis, male gender (odds ratio [OR] =2.5, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.37-4.57, p = .03), body mass index less then 25 kg/m2 (OR = 2.76, 95% CI 1.51-5.04, p = .0009), and logistic EuroSCORE II ≥20% (OR = 3.04, 95% CI 1.56-5.94, p = .001) were associated with a higher 1-year mortality in the ADHF group. Evidence based guidelines and summary statistics from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Clinical Pharmacogenetics Implementation Consortium (CPIC) were analyzed for ethnic differences in outcomes. Implicated drugs included commonly prescribed drugs such as warfarin, clopidogrel, carbamazepine, and allopurinol. The majority of these associations are due to Asians more commonly being CYP2C19 poor metabolizers and carriers of the HLA-B*1502 allele. The relative risk increase seen ranged between genes and drugs but could be over 100x more likely in Asians such as the 172x increase in risk of SJS and TEN with carbamazepine use amongst HLA-B*1502 carriers. The effects ranged from relatively benign reactions such as reduced drug efficacy to severe cutaneous skin reactions. These reactions are severe and prevalent enough to warrant pharmacogenetic testing and appropriate changes in dosing and medication choice for at risk populations. Further studies should be done on Asian cohorts to more fully understand pharmacogenetic variants in these populations to understand how such differences may influence drug response. © 2020 The Authors.
