    To synthesize evidence from studies investigating survival outcomes for patients with ovarian cancer undergoing minimally invasive surgery (traditional or robotic laparoscopy) compared with those for patients with ovarian cancer undergoing laparotomy.

    We searched Ovid MEDLINE and Embase (from inception to December 2019).

    Observational cohort studies and randomized controlled trials that compared risk of recurrence or death between women undergoing minimally invasive and open procedures for staging (10), interval cytoreduction (4), secondary cytoreduction (2), and evaluation of resectability (1) were included.

    Data on the number of participants, number of deaths and recurrences, and results of analyses of overall or progression-free survival were abstracted for all studies. A random-effects meta-analysis was used to pool the results of studies comparing minimally invasive staging and open staging. The surgical approach (minimally invasive versus open) was not significantly associated with hazard of death or recurrence (pooled hazard ratio 0.92; 95% confidence interval, 0.61-1.38) or all-cause mortality (pooled hazard ratio 0.96; 95% confidence interval, 0.49-1.89). One randomized trial demonstrated that diagnostic laparoscopy could triage patients to neoadjuvant chemotherapy and avoid suboptimal primary surgery, without affecting recurrence-free or overall survival. Most studies included in this review were observational and at high risk for bias, and few studies accounted for potential confounding.

Combining phylogenetic and conserved synteny analysis, we show that myoglobin and globin E were lost only in the Batrachia clade, but retained in Gymnophiona. The major amphibian groups also retained different paralogous copies of globin X. None of the amphibian presented αD-globin gene. Nevertheless, two clades of β-globins are present in all amphibians, indicating that the amphibian ancestor possessed two paralogous proto β-globins. This goal can be achieved by developing selected bioeconomy-related areas such as the biogas industry together with novel technologies implemented to optimize treatment of municipal sewage and management of organic solid waste. Here, the relatively strong status of the Polish biogas sector is presented. The widely used practice of sewage sludge biomethanation has led to construction of numerous complex installations combining biological wastewater treatment plants with anaerobic digesters. Based on physico-chemical processing of biostabilized sludges, a novel method for efficient granulated soil fertilizer production is elaborated, in line with the concept of circular economy and the notion of "waste-to-product". It is also shown that anaerobic fermentation of sewage sludges can be optimized by co-digestion with properly selected co-substrates to increase bioprocess yield and improve the resultant digestate fertilizer quality. The problem of post-fermentation eutrophic sludge liquors, environmentally hazardous waste effluents requiring proper treatment prior to discharge or field application, is addressed. Attempts to optimize biological treatment of digestate liquors with complex microbial consortia are presented. The Polish innovations described show that the "zero waste" path in circular bioeconomy may bring advantageous results in terms of transformation of waste materials into commercial, added-value products together with recovery of water resources.

    Colonic transendoscopic enteral tubing (TET) requires double cecal intubation, raising a common concern of how to save cecal intubation time and make the tube stable. We hypothesized that cap-assisted colonoscopy (CC) might reduce the second cecal intubation time and bring potential benefits during the TET procedure.

    To investigate if CC can decrease the second cecal intubation time compared with regular colonoscopy (RC).

    This prospective multicenter, randomized controlled trial was performed at four centers. Subjects ≥ 7 years needing colonic TET were recruited from August 2018 to January 2020. All subjects were randomly assigned to two groups. The primary outcome was the second cecal intubation time. Secondary outcomes included success rate, insertion pain score, single clip fixation time, purpose and retention time of TET tube, length of TET tube inserted into the colon, and all procedure-related (serious) adverse events.

    The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is spreading rapidly around the world. Most critically ill patients have organ injury, including acute respiratory distress syndrome, acute kidney injury, cardiac injury, or liver dysfunction. However, few studies on acute gastrointestinal injury (AGI) have been reported in critically ill patients with COVID-19.

    To investigate the prevalence and outcomes of AGI in critically ill patients with COVID-19.

    In this retrospective study, demographic data, laboratory parameters, AGI grades, clinical severity and outcomes were collected. The primary endpoints were AGI incidence and 28-d mortality.

    From February 10 to March 10 2020, 83 critically ill patients out of 1314 patients with COVID-19 were enrolled. Seventy-two (86.7%) patients had AGI during hospital stay, of these patients, 30 had AGI grade I, 35 had AGI grade II, 5 had AGI grade III, and 2 had AGI grade IV.     Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a highly prevalent disease of the upper gastrointestinal tract, and it is associated with environmental and lifestyle habits. Due to an increasing interest in the environment, several groups are studying the effects of meteorological factors and air pollutants (MFAPs) on disease development.

    Data on GERD-related medical utilization from 2002 to 2017 were obtained from the National Health Insurance Service of Korea, while those on MFAPs were obtained from eight metropolitan areas and merged. In total, 20071900 instances of GERD-related medical utilizations were identified, and 200000 MFAPs were randomly selected from the eight metropolitan areas. Data were analyzed using a multivariable generalized additive Poisson regression model to control for time trends, seasonality, and day of the week.

    The activity staging of Crohn's disease (CD) in the terminal ileum is critical in developing an accurate clinical treatment plan. The activity of terminal ileum CD is associated with the microcirculation of involved bowel walls. Dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) and diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) can reflect perfusion and permeability of bowel walls by providing microcirculation information. As such, we hypothesize that DCE-MRI and DWI parameters can assess terminal ileum CD, thereby providing an opportunity to stage CD activity.

  • Alzheimer's disease (AD), which is among the most prevalent neurodegenerative diseases, manifests as increasing memory loss and cognitive decline. Tau phosphorylation and aggregation are strongly linked to neurodegeneration, as well as associated with chronic neuroinflammatory processes. The anti-inflammation effects of natural products have led to wide recognition of their potential for use in treating and preventing AD. This study investigated whether eupatin, a polymethoxyflavonoid found in Artemisia species, has inhibitory effects on neuroinflammation and tau phosphorylation. We treated mouse macrophages and microglia cells with lipopolysaccharides (LPSs) to activate inflammatory signals, and we treated neuronal cells with a protein phosphatase 2A inhibitor, okadaic acid (OA), or transfection with pRK5-EGFP-Tau P301L plasmid to induce tau phosphorylation. The results indicated that eupatin significantly reduced the LPS-induced protein expression and phosphorylation of p65 and inducible nitric oxide synthase as well as downstream products interleukin 6 and nitrite, respectively. Furthermore, eupatin markedly inhibited the expression of phospho-tau in response to OA treatment and plasmid transfection. We discovered that this inhibition was achieved through the inhibition of glycogen synthase kinase 3β (GSK3β), and molecular docking results suggested that eupatin can sufficiently bind to the GSK3β active site. According to the model, reducing the thrust force and the radial force of the edge on the fibers is an effective way to reduce the fiber deformation, and a three-point step drill is proposed further. Comparative experiments were carried out among twist drilling, candle core drilling and three-point step drilling under three drilling parameters. The results show that the three-point step drill changed the traditional cutting behavior on the drill-exit material into a compound process.     Alzheimer's disease (AD), which is among the most prevalent neurodegenerative diseases, manifests as increasing memory loss and cognitive decline. Tau phosphorylation and aggregation are strongly linked to neurodegeneration, as well as associated with chronic neuroinflammatory processes. The anti-inflammation effects of natural products have led to wide recognition of their potential for use in treating and preventing AD. This study investigated whether eupatin, a polymethoxyflavonoid found in Artemisia species, has inhibitory effects on neuroinflammation and tau phosphorylation. We treated mouse macrophages and microglia cells with lipopolysaccharides (LPSs) to activate inflammatory signals, and we treated neuronal cells with a protein phosphatase 2A inhibitor, okadaic acid (OA), or transfection with pRK5-EGFP-Tau P301L plasmid to induce tau phosphorylation. The results indicated that eupatin significantly reduced the LPS-induced protein expression and phosphorylation of p65 and inducible nitric oxide synthase as well as downstream products interleukin 6 and nitrite, respectively. These include (a) identification of multilevel implementation determinants through specification of user needs and contexts; (b) tailoring of implementation strategies, such as contextually driven intervention redesign; and (c) evaluating implementation mechanisms and outcomes, including disentangling how the core HCD focus on usability relates to closely associated implementation variables such as acceptability, feasibility, and appropriateness. A bolus injection technique without retrograde backflow applied per injection point 0.15-0.20 ml of HA for moderate. NLF and 0.20-0.25 ml for severe NLF. Patients were evaluated through MRI and clinically twenty-four hours, one month and twelve months after the HA application. MRI, in T2-weighted, displayed the gel as a dense, spindle-shaped nodule as pattern of the gel diffusion, measuring its largest longitudinal and transverse axes. Twenty-four hours after HA application the longitudinal axis measured 1.79 cm, after one month 2.33 cm and at month twelve 0.91 cm. The transverse axis measured 0.92 cm at 24 hours, 1.13 cm after one month and 0.47 cm at month twelve. Despite reduction in size and denseness of the spindle-shaped nodule, the small amount of gel presenting into the subcutaneous fat after twelve months of the application evidenced the HA efficacy and long-acting in NLF rejuvenation. Livestock data and reports from the Directorate of Veterinary Services, Meat Board of Namibia and Namibia Statistics Agency were analysed to establish the current status in goat production and marketing. Namibia has 1.9 million goats of which 54% of the total number is found in the northern communal areas. While adherence to PAP therapy has been thought to be a barrier to use, consistent usage is likely much higher than commonly thought. In addition, many strategies have been developed to assist providers in improving their patients' PAP adherence.The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of cannabidiol (CBD) on the behavioural and gene expression changes in a new animal model of spontaneous cocaine withdrawal. For this purpose, male CD-1 mice were exposed to progressive increasing doses of cocaine for 12 days (15 to 60 mg/kg/day, i.p.), evaluating spontaneous cocaine withdrawal 6 h after the last cocaine administration. The effects of CBD (10, 20, and 40 mg/kg, i.p.) were evaluated on cocaine withdrawal-induced alterations in motor activity, somatic signs, and anxiety-like behaviour. Furthermore, gene expression changes in dopamine transporter (DAT) and tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) in the ventral tegmental area, and in cannabinoid receptors 1 (CNR1) and 2 (CNR2) in the nucleus accumbens, were analysed by real-time PCR. The results obtained in the study showed that mice exposed to the spontaneous cocaine withdrawal model presented increased motor activity, somatic withdrawal signs, and high anxiety-like behaviour. Interestingly, the administration of CBD normalized motor and somatic signs disturbances and induced an anxiolytic effect. Moreover, the administration of CBD blocked the increase of DAT and TH gene expression in mice exposed to the cocaine withdrawal, regulated the decrease of CNR1 and induced an additional upregulation of CNR2 gene expression. Thus, this model of spontaneous cocaine withdrawal induces clear behavioural and gene expression changes in mice. Interestingly, CBD alleviates these behavioural and gene expression alterations suggesting its potential for the management of cocaine withdrawal.

  • The use of cisplatin for the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer has long been constrained by the rapid acquisition of tumor cell chemoresistance. In the present study, we sought to better elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying this resistance phenotype. To that end, we assessed gene expression patterns in cisplatin-resistant lung adenocarcinoma cells, revealing pyruvate dehydrogenase lipoamide kinase isozyme 4 (PDK4) to be the most up-regulated kinase in resistant cells. We further found PDK4 upregulation to be directly linked with the acquisition of chemoresistance, driving enhanced tumor cell growth in vitro and in vivo. In clinical samples, we also found that PDK4 upregulation was detectable in patients with lung adenocarcinoma and that it was correlated with a poorer prognosis for these patients. From a mechanistic perspective, we further determined that PDK4 was able to promote lung adenocarcinoma cell growth and cisplatin resistance at least in part via regulating endothelial PAS domain-containing protein 1 (EPAS1) expression, thus highlighting PDK4 as a potentially viable therapeutic target in efforts to treat lung adenocarcinoma patients that have become resistant to cisplatin.Cancer is a widespread significant health problem in Iraq and contributes 11% to total deaths. After the wars, cancer incidence in Iraq is about 7,000 to 8,000 cancers cases per year, and the overall incidence of lymphoma, leukemia, breast cancer, and lung cancer has increased twofold and even tripled, as compared to the time before the wars. This increase could result from environmental pollution with radioactive materials including uranium, as cancer can be caused by ionizing radiation. To investigate this hypothesis, uranium concentration in the blood of 64 Iraqi females has been measured by means of CR-39 track etch detectors (42 blood samples collected from females diagnosed with breast cancer and 22 blood samples from females without breast cancer). The results show that the uranium concentrations ranged from 19.1 ± 0.3 to 238.4 ± 0.4 with an average value of 94.9 ± 5.0 ng L-1 in the blood of women with breast cancer and from 5.2 ± 0.2 to 18.7 ± 0.04 with an average value of 10.5 ± 0.1 ng L-1 in the blood of women without breast cancer. In comparison with the literature data, elevated levels of uranium concentration were recorded in both groups, and significantly higher average uranium concentrations were found in the blood of women with breast cancer as compared to those in the blood samples of women without breast cancer. It is concluded that there is a correlation between the incidence of breast cancer in Iraqi women and elevated levels of uranium concentrations in their blood. Whether this is a casual relationship is unclear, because cancer can be caused by various carcinogens, including environmental pollution in the region.The effect of low-dose ionizing radiation exposure on leukemia incidence remains poorly understood. Six of 78 cases (7.7%) were unfit to the algorithm because of an inappropriate mode change. The PM mode was changed preoperatively in four patients, even though the surgical site was under the umbilicus. In one case of the two other cases, the PM mode was changed from AAI to VOO. This case could not be avoided by the previous algorithm of the expert clinical statements. In another case, the anesthesiologist did not change PM mode even though the patient underwent parotidectomy and his heart rate depended on PM. Prospective research on this algorithm could clarify its usefulness in the future. Moreover, discussions about this algorithm could help develop this field of study and improve the intraoperative management of PMs.
    Many studies have been published on the beneficial effects of oral carbohydrate solutions (OCS) administered prior to surgery. However, the risk of pulmonary aspiration cannot be excluded in all patients undergoing anesthesia. But, there are few studies on the safety of OCS at lung aspiration.

    Experiments were conducted with **** (Nine- to ten-week-old male BALB/c **** weighted 23-26g). Lung aspiration was performed by intratracheal administration of OCS and its major constituents, fructose and maltodextrin. Bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) was collected 3 and 24h after lung aspiration. The level of Tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and macrophage inflammatory protein-2 (MIP-2) were measured in BALF. The total white blood cell, neutrophil counts, wet to dry ratio and histological examination were performed in BALF and lung tissue, respectively, at 24h after aspiration.

    The OCS increased the level of TNF-α, IL-6 and MIP-2 at 3h and the neutrophil count at 24h in BALFs, compared to a phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) group.

    To investigate the association between temporomandibular disorder (TMD) symptoms and women's oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL).
    An observational case-control study was performed with 765 adult women aged 21.5years on average. Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP-14) assessed OHRQoL and determined the selection of cases and controls matched by age and marital status at a ratio of 14 (153 cases 612 controls). American Academy of Orofacial Pain's self-explanatory questionnaire assessed the TMD symptoms. The TMD symptoms' impact on OHRQoL was analyzed, estimating the odds ratio with a 95% confidence interval.

    Of the women, 86.9% in the case group, and 69.6% in the control group presented some TMD symptoms (
    <0.05). Women with an impacted OHRQoL are 2.95 (95% CI1.79-4.86) times more likely to report some TMD symptoms (

In Nicaragua, people in a homeless situation are one of the most socially excluded groups, and there is a lack of data regarding their characteristics, circumstances, and needs. This study examines the state of health, disability, and substance use among people living homeless (n = 68) in the city of León (Nicaragua). Sixty percent of the homeless people contacted responded to a questionnaire which was administered with the respondents by means of an interview. The findings showed that people living homeless in León had very negative states of health and disability, worse than those observed in other socially excluded groups in the same city and homeless people in more developed countries. The interviewees also presented a high level of substance abuse - mainly of alcohol and inhaled glue.The aim of this study was to assess the opinions of staff working in workplace-violence related units on violence against nurses. A qualitative and descriptive design was used. The participants were seven nurses, one biologist, and one social worker who agreed to attend an interview and worked in employee rights unit or occupational health and safety unit. Data were collected from June to December 2017. The interviews were analyzed with content analysis. Four main themes were identified, and the themes were the following (1) risk factors; (2) reporting of violence; (3) consequences of violence; and (4) prevention and control. In summary, factors related to the patient, the nurse, and the physical structure of the hospital were determined.

Ankle-foot orthoses (AFOs) are lower-leg splints prescribed to provide stability to the foot and ankle, as well as prevent foot drop, a gait deficit common after stroke. AFO use has been shown to improve gait parameters such as speed and step time, which are often negatively impacted by dual-task walking.

    Our objective was to establish whether AFOs could protect against cognitive-motor interference, as measured by dual-task walking, following post-stroke hemiplegia.

    A total of 21 individuals with post-stroke hemiplegia that use an AFO completed a dual-task walking paradigm in the form of a 2 (walking with vs. without a concurrent cognitive task) by 2 (walking with vs. without an AFO) repeated-measures design. Changes to both motor and cognitive performance were analyzed.

    The results suggest that the use of an AFO improves gait overall in both single- and dual-task walking, particularly with respect to stride regularity, but there were no interactions to suggest that AFOs reduce the cognitive-motor dual-task costs themselves. A lack of differences in cognitive performance during dual-task walking with and without the AFO suggests that the AFO's benefit to motor performance cannot be attributed to task prioritization.

    These data support the use of AFOs to improve certain gait parameters for post-stroke hemiplegia, but AFOs do not appear to protect against cognitive-motor interference during dual-task walking. Future research should pursue alternate therapeutics for ameliorating task-specific declines under cognitively demanding circumstances.

    To explore the effect and the related mechanism of STAT3 inhibitor AG-490 on inhibiting the proliferation of prostate cancer cells.

    PC3 cells and DU145 cells were cultured stably and treated with AG-490 to detect the changes in the activity of PC3 cells and DU145 cells. Thirty 6-8 weeks male BALB/c nude mouse were randomly divided into a control group, a DMSO group, and an AG-490 group to detect differences in various indexes .

    The overexpression of miR-503-5p depends on the activation of STAT3. After treatment with AG-490, The proliferation and invasion of PC3 cells and DU145 cells and the expression of miR-503-5p were all reduced. Luciferase reporter assay demonstrated that the target proteins of miR-503-5p include PDCD4, TIMP-3, and PTEN. After treatment with AG-490, the expression of PDCD4, TIMP-3, and PTEN in cells was significantly up-regulated. IL-6-induced overexpression of miR-503-5p and restored the expression of STAT3, demonstrating the correlation between STAT3 and miR-503-5p. AG-490 can inhibit tumor growth and induce tumor cell apoptosis in the PC3 BALB/c nude mouse xenograft model. Western blotting and immunohistochemical staining showed that the expression levels of STAT3, Ki67, Bcl-2 and MMP-2 in the AG-490 group were significantly reduced, and the expression of PDCD4, TIMP-3 and PTEN increased.

To explore the effect and the related mechanism of STAT3 inhibitor AG-490 on inhibiting the proliferation of prostate cancer cells. PC3 cells and DU145 cells were cultured stably and treated with AG-490 to detect the changes in the activity of PC3 cells and DU145 cells. Thirty 6-8 weeks male BALB/c nude mouse were randomly divided into a control group, a DMSO group, and an AG-490 group to detect differences in various indexes . The overexpression of miR-503-5p depends on the activation of STAT3. After treatment with AG-490, The proliferation and invasion of PC3 cells and DU145 cells and the expression of miR-503-5p were all reduced. Luciferase reporter assay demonstrated that the target proteins of miR-503-5p include PDCD4, TIMP-3, and PTEN. After treatment with AG-490, the expression of PDCD4, TIMP-3, and PTEN in cells was significantly up-regulated. IL-6-induced overexpression of miR-503-5p and restored the expression of STAT3, demonstrating the correlation between STAT3 and miR-503-5p.   • The remarkable enhancement of phenolic monomer generation and hydrogen was achieved through catalytic pyrolysis of Douglas fir over nanocellulose derived biochar catalyst for the first time. The main compositions of produced bio-oil were phenolic monomers, furans, and naphthalenes, etc., in which the phenolic monomers were dominant compositions. And at the temperature of 650 °C and 3 of biochar to biomass ratio, the quantification results showed that the concentration of phenol was increased to 53.77 mg/mL from 15.76 mg/mL of free of biochar catalyst. The concentration of cresols were facilitated to 44.51 mg/mL from 20.95 mg/mL, while the concentration of dimethylphenols reduced to 7.76 mg/mL from 9.11 mg/mL. Up to 85.32 vol% of hydrogen was observed, increasing from 45.53 vol% of the non-catalytic process. After 15 cycles of reuse, biochar catalysts still favored to produce a **** higher concentration of phenolic monomers and hydrogen than that of absence of biochar catalysts.In this study, the effect of Fe3+ on the start-up of Anammox process was investigated. Finally, countermeasures were proposed based on the analysis of the main factors that affect each sub-class crash in the LC-BLR model. The LC-BLR model results indicated that collision typewas significant in all three sub-class models considered in the analysis, but the effects on crash severity varied. Several variables (e.g., driving license state, time of week, driver age) demonstrated a significant effect in a specific sub-class model, thereby indicating that these factors were only effective in mitigating the crash severity of one sub-class.     The clinical datas of 126 patients with placental abruption diagnosed and treated in our hospital over the past 4 years were retrospectively analyzed.     Creating and maintaining a functioning arteriovenous access is essential for long-term hemodialysis patients. Transposed brachiobasilic fistula (BBF) or arteriovenous graft (AVG) becomes an option when radiocephalic or brachiocephalic fistula cannot be created or fails. This study compared the patency and complications between BBFs and AVGs among patients on hemodialysis.

    A retrospective study was performed in Shuang Ho Hospital, Taiwan, from November 2015 to May 2020. All the operations were done by a single surgeon. Primary outcomes were primary patency, primary-assisted patency, and secondary patency of the BBF and AVG groups. Secondary outcomes were incidence of complications and reinterventions.

    Of the 144 consecutive patients, 20 and 124 patients underwent BBF and AVG creation, respectively. Median follow-up time was 19.2 months. Here, we review recent progress on the study of neural circuits involved in decision making in the mouse olfactory system.Background and purpose - Hemiarthroplasty has lower reoperation frequency and better mobilization compared with internal fixation (IF) in patients with undisplaced femoral neck fractures (FNF), which might translate into lower mortality. In this population-based cohort study we compare the risk of mortality and reoperation in undisplaced FNF treated with IF and displaced FNF treated with arthroplasty in patients older than 70 years old. We assume that, per se, there is no difference in mortality risk between patients with a displaced and an undisplaced FNF. Patients and methods - Hip fracture patients were identified in the Danish Multidisciplinary Hip Fracture Registry during 2005-2015. Data on medication, comorbidities, reoperation, and mortality were retrieved from other Danish medical databases. IF and arthroplasty patients were compared with regards to mortality and reoperation up to 5 years postoperatively. We calculated hazard ratios (HR) with 95% confidence intervals (CI) adjusting for relevant confounders. Results - We included 19,260 FNF treated with arthroplasty and 10,337 FNF with IF. There was an increased risk of mortality for arthroplasty within 30 days, HR 1.3 (95% CI 1.3-1.4), compared with IF but not after 1 and 5 years. Arthroplasty patients had adjusted HRs for reoperation of 0.8 (0.8-0.9) within 1 year, 0.8 (0.7-0.9) within 2 years, and 0.8 (0.8-0.9) within 5 years postoperatively compared with IF. Interpretation - Patients treated for a displaced FNF with arthroplasty had a higher risk of 30-day mortality compared with patients who had an undisplaced FNF treated with IF. It has to be considered that there were baseline differences in the groups but there was no difference in mortality risk up to 5 years post-surgery. Concerning reoperation, patients with a displaced FNF treated with arthroplasty had a lower risk of reoperation compared with IF for undisplaced FNF.

Data on medication, comorbidities, reoperation, and mortality were retrieved from other Danish medical databases. IF and arthroplasty patients were compared with regards to mortality and reoperation up to 5 years postoperatively. We calculated hazard ratios (HR) with 95% confidence intervals (CI) adjusting for relevant confounders. Results - We included 19,260 FNF treated with arthroplasty and 10,337 FNF with IF. There was an increased risk of mortality for arthroplasty within 30 days, HR 1.3 (95% CI 1.3-1.4), compared with IF but not after 1 and 5 years. Arthroplasty patients had adjusted HRs for reoperation of 0.8 (0.8-0.9) within 1 year, 0.8 (0.7-0.9) within 2 years, and 0.8 (0.8-0.9) within 5 years postoperatively compared with IF. Interpretation - Patients treated for a displaced FNF with arthroplasty had a higher risk of 30-day mortality compared with patients who had an undisplaced FNF treated with IF. It has to be considered that there were baseline differences in the groups but there was no difference in mortality risk up to 5 years post-surgery. Concerning reoperation, patients with a displaced FNF treated with arthroplasty had a lower risk of reoperation compared with IF for undisplaced FNF.
