Fixed volume of plasma was obtained using a special glass capillary to pretreat the fingertip blood. The coated microwells were inserted and the reagents were dispensed into wells in the test strips which can be continuously tested on a small automated chemiluminescence analyzer. The performance of the developed method was evaluated, and the method comparison studies were conducted.
The limit of detection (LOD) was 1.38 ng/mL. The intra-assay precision of the anticoagulant whole blood samples with low, medium, high concentrations of 25-OH VD were 5.45%, 8.20%, 4.97%, respectivelyneeds only 30 minutes. The developed method can fully satisfy very busy clinical labs.

We included 150 patients with lung cancer who attended Kirikkale University Medical Faculty Hospital between June 2017 and June 2018. Our purpose was to evaluate whether metastases can be predicted in lung cancer patients by testing SH/SS homeostasis as a novel and easily applicable biochemical test.
The mean age of the patients was 63.8 ± 8.1 (41 - 71) years. Advanced stage lung cancer, adenocarcinoma, squamous-cell and small cell lung cancers, and other types were detected in 54.7%, 42.7%, 41.3%, 13.3%, and 2.7% of the patients, respectively. SS values of the patients with advanced stage lung cancer were higher thas indicators of cancer severity in lung cancer patients.
Efforts have been made to search for parameters that facilitate the prediction of the 3-month survival for clinical decisions in patients with malignant pleural effusion (MPE). We sought to evaluate whether the platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) may be a useful marker of 3-month survival in a series of consecutive patients with MPE.
A total of 81 patients with MPE were included, 46 (57%) of whom were female. Twenty-six patients (32%) died during the first 3 months according to thoracentesis data.
The area under the receiver operating characteristics curve was 0.73 for PLR. Using a cutoff point of 158, patients with higher PLR values experienced higher mortality at 3 months (p = 0.001).
PLR was able to successfully differentiate patients with different survival at 3 months. Outcomes of the PLR (a fast and inexpensive test) could be included among the prognostic factors able to guide the personalized management of MPE.

Customer satisfaction is one of quality indicators which can be used to identify quality defects in the total process and remind clinical laboratories to take measures to improve the process. This study mainly reviewed and analyzed the general situation through a customer satisfaction survey in clinical laboratories in China and described the overall customer satisfaction of outpatients and inpatients.
Surveys in this study could be divided into two stages. The first stage was to investigate the general situation through a customer satisfaction survey in Chinese clinical laboratories. Recent evidence indicates that TRIB3 and miR-124 levels have been deregulated in type 2 diabetes (T2D); however, the simultaneous evaluation of these markers in diabetic patients has not been investigated to date.
This case-control study included 50 T2D patients and 40 age-gender matched controls. The circulation level of miR-124a was assessed by real-time PCR. TRIB3 plasma level was measured using the enzyme-linked im-munosorbent assay.
Our findings revealed that the TRIB3 plasma level was significantly increased (p = 0.025), while miR-124a plasma levels were significantly reduced (p = 0.028) in diabetic patients compared to healthy subjects. ROC analysis showed that TRIB3 and miR-124a levels could discriminate control subjects and diabetic patients. Interestingly, a significant negative correlation was found between the TRIB3 and miR-124a plasma levels. Furthermore, there was a significant positive correlation between the TRIB3 plasma level with fasting blood glucose and insulin resistance.

We performed a literature search by using Pubmed, Embase, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) databases. Pairs of reviewers independently screened literature according to the inclusion criteria, extracted data, assessed methodological quality, and publication bias. The primary end points included overall survival and cardiac events. I was calculated in a heterogeneity assessment. Publication bias was evaluated by using Begg funnel plot and Egger test.
Ten studies including 1 randomized controlled trial, 3 post hoc analysis of prospective trials, and 6 cohort studies were identified. The meta-analysis showed that heart volume receiving ≥5 Gy (HV5) (hazard ratio [HR] = 1.01; 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.00-1.01), heart volume receiving ≥30 Gy (HV3cic radiation therapy to decrease the incidence of cardiac events and improve the overall survival.
Exposure of the heart to radiation increased the risk of cardiac events during radiotherapy for lung cancer. Meanwhile, heart dose including HV5 and HV30 were predictors of overall survival in lung cancer radiotherapy. It is necessary to constrain the heart dose when perform thoracic radiation therapy to decrease the incidence of cardiac events and improve the overall survival.

The studies have found that the level of SDF in the semen of patients with varicocele (VC) was on the high side. In recent years, the effect of VC surgery on DNA fragmentation index has attracted the attention of researchers. In this study, we will evaluate the effectiveness of VC repair as a way to alleviate SDF and improve male fertility.

Cochrane Risk Assessment Tool will be used to assess the quality of eligible studies according to the Cochrane handbook.
The results of this systematic review will provide a synthesis of current evidence of GZD and we have a specific opportunity to determine the efficacy and safety of it.

Many epidemiologic studies were performed to clarify the protective effect of regular aspirin use on breast cancer risks, but the results remain inconsistent. Here, we conducted an updated meta-analysis of 38 studies to quantitatively assess the association of regular aspirin use with risk of breast cancer.
We performed a bibliographic database search in PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane library, Scopus, and Google Scholar from January 1939 to December 2019. Relative risk (RR) estimates were extracted from eligible case-control and cohort studies and pooled using a random effects model. Subgroup analysis was conducted based on study design, aspirin exposure assessment, hormone receptor status, menopausal status, cancer stage as well as aspirin use duration or frequency. The exact mechanism by which miRNAs regulate cell fate transition during embryo development is still not clear. To investigate the accuracy of the Social and Emotional Assessment-short version (Mini-SEA) to differentiate subgroups of behavioral variant of frontotemporal dementia (bvFTD) and Alzheimer's disease (AD) defined according to executive performance.
bvFTD (n=21), AD (n=20), and healthy controls (HC, n=23) underwent the Mini-SEA, comprising the Facial Emotion Recognition Test (FERT) and the faux-pas test. AD and bvFTD patients were classified according to their performance in the Frontal Assessment Battery into dysexecutive and nondysexecutive subgroups.

All analyses were repeated stratified by sex. An elevated risk was observed for having ever worked in a job with potential for electric shocks (odds ratio (OR) = 1.35, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.98, 1.86), with the strongest association for the highest level of exposure (OR = 2.01, 95% CI 1.31, 3.09). Analysis by duration suggested a nonlinear association Risk was increased for both short duration (24 years; OR = 1.88; 95% CI 1.05, 3.36) in a job with high level of electric shock exposure, with less pronounced associations for intermediate durations. No association with ELF-MF was found. Our findings provide support for an association between occupational exposure to electric shocks and motor neurone disease but did not show associations with exposure to work-related ELF-MF.
microRNAs (miRNAs) play essential roles in mouse embryonic stem cells (ESCs) and early embryo development. The exact mechanism by which miRNAs regulate cell fate transition during embryo development is still not clear. In many mammals, breeding females are intolerant of each other and seldom associate closely but, in some, they aggregate in groups that vary in size, stability, and kinship structure. Aggregation frequently increases competition for food, and interspecific differences in female sociality among mammals are commonly attributed to contrasts in ecological parameters, including variation in activity timing, the distribution of resources, as well as the risk of predation. However, there is increasing indication that differences in female sociality are also associated with phylogenetic relationships and with contrasts in life-history parameters. We show here that evolutionary transitions from systems where breeding females usually occupy separate ranges ("singular breeding") to systems where breeding females usually aggregate ("plural breeding") have occurred more frequently in monotocous lineages where females produce single young than in polytocous ones where they produce litters. A likely explanation of this association is that competition between breeding females for resources is reduced where they produce single young and is more intense where they produce litters. Our findings reinforce evidence that variation in life-history parameters plays an important role in shaping the evolution of social behavior.Conspicuous male signals often play an important role in both attracting mates and deterring rivals. In territorial species with extrapair mating, female and male forays to other territories may be an important component underlying female choice and male mating success and might be influenced by male advertisement signals. Yet, whether off-territory foraying is associated with male signals is still not well understood. Here, we tested how female and male forays are associated with short-range visual and long-range acoustic signals (dawn song). We used an automated radio tracking system to follow the movements of wild great **** (Parus major) to other territories in relation to male dawn song, plumage ornaments, and extrapair paternity. We show that both sexes frequently forayed into others' territories throughout the breeding period. Movements of both males and females were associated with male song but not with plumage ornaments. Contrary to our expectations, females stayed away from territories where males sang elaborately, whereas males were attracted to those territories. Moreover, neither female nor male forays were associated with the occurrence of extrapair offspring. #link# Our results, thus, suggest that, although forays into other territories are associated with male dawn song, females may not be attracted and males not repelled by dawn song. This sheds a different light on the sex-specific effects of male advertisement signals, expanding the view on the selection pressures shaping such communication systems.

This was a single-doctor experience of 375 consultations done over 65 days. We also designed a triage pathway for obstetrics and gynaecology cases, and we discussed general practice for obstetricians and gynaecologists with its utility and limitations.
Telemedicine has provided us the opportunity to manage women health problems and pregnancy concerns during this pandemic of COVID-19, except a few instances where face-to-face consultation or hospital visit is must. If we implement the triage pathway, we can minimize the risk of exposure for both patients and healthcare teams during COVID-19 pandemic.

Admission to intensive care unit adds on to the financial burden to the patient. Also, there is an increased risk of perinatal anxiety and depression during the COVID pandemic. When an asymptomatic carrier develops symptoms of COVID after delivery or caesarean section, the morbidity increases. So we have designed an informed consent form for patients undergoing emergency obstetric surgeries incorporating some points specific for COVID-19.The outbreak of COVID-19 has become a globally concerning pandemic having affected more than 5 million people worldwide. The disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) is highly contagious. Only limited literature exists on the evaluation and management of pregnant women with suspected or confirmed COVID-19. In this short commentary, we inform the readers of the potential role of chest CT in symptomatic COVID-19 pregnant women and the related limitations.The encounter with the rampant novel Corona virus infection has led the healthcare system across the world to update and modify its tools to fight this pandemic. Pregnancy, childbirth and breast feeding are a set of special situations to be dealt in women afflicted with Covid-19. Currently there is no universal consensus on managing the issue of breast feeding with rooming-in of the neonates in women with suspected or confirmed Covid-19. Literature is still evolving with contradictory guidelines from various authorities across the globe. This review intends to analyse the available evidence on managing breast feeding in such women and to derive a practically plausible approach in handling such situations.

Reducing human immunodeficiency viruses (HIV) and acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) racial/ethnic disparities in the Deep South has been a critical objective of the U.S. National HIV/AIDS Strategy. This finding, originally published in 2010 by the Office of National AIDS Policy, serves as a complement to the Health and Human Resources and Services Administration's Ending the HIV Epidemic (EtHE) A Plan for America. The EtHE plan, released in 2019, emphasizes community stakeholder involvement to achieve the planning goals of decreasing new HIV infections in key U.S. geographic areas. According to the plan, an important stakeholder is faith leaders, especially around stigma reduction. This paper focuses on a community-academic research partnership's exploration of southern Black faith leaders' teaching perspectives regarding HIV prevention, sexuality, and sexual health in predominantly Black congregations in Memphis, Tennessee. The partnership conducted four focus groups using a semi-structured discussion interview. Any adult faith leader involved in ministry work in a predominantly Black church was eligible to participate in the discussion. A total of 26 faith leaders with a mean age of 54, representing four Christian denominations, consented to participate in the study. Emerging themes included (1) restriction of scripture to teach prevention and address sexuality, (2) role of secrecy and silence in living with HIV, and (3) impact of the stigma of HIV and sexuality. Findings may inform nationwide jurisdictional implementation plans, particularly for faith-based interventions in southern churches working toward ending the HIV epidemic.SARS-CoV-2, and several other microorganisms, may be present in nasopharyngeal and salivary secretions in patients treated in dental practices, so an appropriate clinical behavior is required in order to avoid the dangerous spread of infections. A fast ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-MS/MS) coupled to an online sample preparation system analysis was carried out on a Thermo Scientific Ultimate 3000 LC system coupled to a TSQ Quantiva triple quadrupole for the quantification of cannabidiol (CBD) and, in addition, delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ9-THC). After validation using European Medicine Agency (EMA) guidelines the method was applied to samples obtained by finger ***** of five pediatric patients treated with Epidiolex® and the results were compared to those obtained from venous blood and plasma. The method is linear in the range of 1-800 µg/L for both CBD and THC with intra- and inter-day precisions ranging from 5% to 14% and accuracies from -13% to +14% starting from 30 µL of sample. Stability in VAMS is ensured for up to 4 weeks at 25 °C thus allowing simple delivery. It is time to consider a dental practice quite similar to a hospital surgery room, where particular attention should be addressed to problems related to the spreading of infections due to air and surface contamination. The effectiveness of conventional cleaning and disinfection procedures may be limited by several factors; first of all, human operator dependence seems to be the weak aspect of all procedures. The improvement of these conventional methods requires the modification of human behavior, which is difficult to achieve and sustain. As alternative sterilization methods, there are some that do not depend on the operator, because they are based on devices that perform the entire procedure on their own, with minimal human intervention. A fast ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-MS/MS) coupled to an online sample preparation system analysis was carried out on a Thermo Scientific Ultimate 3000 LC system coupled to a TSQ Quantiva triple quadrupole for the quantification of cannabidiol (CBD) and, in addition, delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ9-THC). After validation using European Medicine Agency (EMA) guidelines the method was applied to samples obtained by finger prick of five pediatric patients treated with Epidiolex® and the results were compared to those obtained from venous blood and plasma. The method is linear in the range of 1-800 µg/L for both CBD and THC with intra- and inter-day precisions ranging from 5% to 14% and accuracies from -13% to +14% starting from 30 µL of sample. Stability in VAMS is ensured for up to 4 weeks at 25 °C thus allowing simple delivery. We will also describe radiologic findings that are considered typical, atypical and generally not compatible with of COVID-19 infection. Further, we review imaging examples of COVID-19 imaging mimics, such as organizing pneumonia, eosinophilic pneumonia and other viral infections.
The study aimed to examine the incidence and mortality rates of appendiceal neoplasms (ANs) in Australia.
A retrospective analysis was performed on national data obtained from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) from 1982 to 2013. Changes to the incidence, and the cancer-specific mortality following the diagnosis of ANs were analyzed over this time period, with stratification performed for histological subtype, gender, and age groups (<50y and ≥50y).
Incidence and mortality rates of ANs increased significantly across both genders and age groups. Incidence rates increased by 415%, from 0.40/100 000 population in 1982 to 2.06/100 000 in 2013. Overall mortality rates increased by 130%, from 0.057/100 000 during 1982-1985 to 0.131/100 000 during 2010-2013. Controlling for age group and gender, the incidence rates increased by 20% every four years (Incidence rate ratio (IRR)=1.20, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.17, 1.23, global P value<0.0001), and controlling for age, the mortality rates increased by 8% every four years (IRR=1.08, 95% CI 1.00, 1.17, global P-value=0.0401).

We reported a three-dimensional Zn(II) MOF synthesized from a bipyridyl-tetracarboxylic ligand and composed of 4-fold interpenetrated diamond frameworks. Because the steric hindrance in the ligand prevents metal coordination with the pyridyl group, the MOF features free basic N sites accessible to the small H+ ions, which renders pH responsivity. The aqueous dispersion exhibits an abrupt, high-contrast, and reversible on-off fluorescence transition in the narrow pH range of 5.4-6.2. The sensitive bistable system can be used for the precise monitoring of pH within the range and for use as a pH-triggered optical switch. The responsive mechanism through pyridyl protonation is collaboratively supported by data fitting, absorption spectra, and molecular orbital calculations. In particular, spectral and theoretical analyses reveal the destruction of n → π* transitions and the appearance of intramolecular charge-transfer transitions upon pyridyl protonation. As a broad international endeavor, our suite of wave function-based correlation methods collectively represents a diverse view of the high-accuracy repertoire offered by modern electronic structure theory. In our assessment, the evaluated high-level methods are all found to qualitatively agree on a final correlation energy, with most methods yielding an estimate of the FCI value around -863 mEH. However, we find the root-mean-square deviation of the energies from the studied methods to be considerable (1.3 mEH), which in light of the acclaimed performance of each of the methods for smaller molecular systems clearly displays the challenges faced in extending reliable, near-exact correlation methods to larger systems. While the discrepancies exposed by our study thus emphasize the fact that the current state-of-the-art approaches leave room for improvement, we still expect the present assessment to provide a valuable community resource for benchmark and calibration purposes going forward.

A viable strategy to enhance the stability of MHPs could lie in their incorporation into a porous template. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have outstanding properties, with a unique network of ordered/functional pores, which render them promising for functioning as such a template, accommodating a wide range of MHPs to the nanosized region, alongside minimizing particle aggregation and enhancing the stability of the entrapped species. This review highlights recent advances in design strategies, synthesis, characterization, and properties of various hybrids of MOFs with MHPs. Particular attention is paid to a critical review of the emergence of MHP@MOF for comprehensive studies of next-generation materials for various technological applications including sensors, photocatalysis, encryption/decryption, light-emitting diodes, and solar cells. #link# Finally, by summarizing the state-of-the-art, some promising future applications of reported hybrids are proposed. The results of this project will be published in a series of papers, of which the first is presented here, summarising available data on the taxonomy, faunistics, and autecology of Norwegian Sciaridae beginning with Zetterstedt's pioneering work in 1838 and ending with 31 December 2019 as the cut-off date. All published records from that period were analysed. The result is a list of 143 species and four unplaced names. Following a consistent scheme, verified locality details are provide including alternative spellings, habitats, and flight times of adults in Norway, literature citations for the faunistic records, and general taxonomic references for classification or identification. A checklist of the sciarid fauna of Norway and a complete list of the relevant literature are also presented.Madagascar is home to some of the largest and most colorful pygmy grasshoppers (Tetrigidae) in the world, known as 'Malagasy Metrodorinae'. The reticulocyte hemoglobin equivalent (RET-He) is presented as a biomarker for the diagnostics and monitoring of iron deficiency. The marker is independent of the acute phase and can be determined within a few minutes by a blood count. Due to the approximately 120-day lifetime of erythrocytes, iron deficiency and changes in the iron status of erythropoiesis can first be recognized at a relatively late stage using classical hematological parameters, such as hemoglobin, mean corpuscular volume, mean cellular hemoglobin content and also with determination of hypochromic erythrocytes (% hypo). The RET-He is a cost-effective parameter for the diagnosis and monitoring of the iron supply for erythropoiesis. Reticulocytes, the precursors of mature erythrocytes, are washed out of the bone marrow into the peripheral blood and normally mature within 2 days to mature erythrocytes. The determination of the reticulocyte number therefore enables a timely statement about erythropoiesis. A measurement of the hemoglobin content of reticulocytes therefore reflects the actual iron metabolism of erythropoiesis and enables assessment of the quality of the cells. Changes in the iron status of erythropoiesis can thus be detected **** earlier than by determining only the hemoglobin content of mature erythrocytes, i.e. the mean cellular hemoglobin content. It is recommended that the evaluation of RET-He should be carried out as an inexpensive routine preoperative marker of latent anemia in order to identify patients at risk. Fragility fractures of the pelvis (FFP) are common in older patients. We evaluated the clinical outcome of using a minimally invasive posterior locked compression plate (MIPLCP) as therapeutic alternative.
53 Patients with insufficiency fractures of the posterior pelvic ring were treated with MIPLCP when suffering from persistent pain and immobility under conservative treatment. After initial X-ray, CT-scans of the pelvis were performed. In some cases an MRI was also performed to detect occult fractures. Postoperatively patients underwent conventional X-ray controls. Data were retrospectively analyzed for surgical and radiation time, complication rate, clinical outcome and compared to the literature.
Patients (average age 79.1years) underwent surgery with operation time of 52.3min (SD 13.9), intra-operative X-ray time of 9.42s (SD 9.6), mean dose length product of 70.1mGycm (SD 57.9) and a mean hospital stay of 21.2days (SD 7.7). 13% patients (n = 7) showed surgery-related complications, such as wound irelatively low complication rate, low radiation and moderate operation time and a good functional outcome.

The purpose of this study is to systematically evaluate the literature to determine the efficacy and complication profile of local antibiotic application in primary total joint arthroplasty.
All studies of primary total joint arthroplasty which assessed local antibiotics in any form other than antibiotic-impregnated cement as an intervention were included. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/Raltitrexed.html that reported at least one outcome related to infection and were available in full text in English were eligible for inclusion. Studies which included both primary and revision cases but did not report the stratified data for each type of surgery and studies on fracture populations were excluded.
A total of 9 studies involving 3,714 cases were included. The pooled deep infection rate was 1.6% in the intervention groups and 3.5% in the control groups. Meta-analysis revealed a RR of 0.53 (95%CI 0.35-0.79, p = 0.002) with no heterogeneity (I
= 0%) for infection in the intervention groups. Meta-analysis revealed a non-significant reduction in superficial infection rates in the intervention groups; however, there was a significant increase in aseptic wound complications in the intervention groups.

With the present research, we investigated the influence of metacognitive beliefs on individuals' offloading behavior in an experimental setup (N = 159). We manipulated participants' metacognitive beliefs about their memory abilities by providing fake performance feedback below-average feedback, above-average feedback, or no feedback (control-group). We then measured offloading behavior, using a pattern copying task in which participants copied a color pattern from a model window into a workspace window. While solving this task, participants could rely either more on an internal memory strategy or more on an offloading strategy. Fake performance feedback affected the participants' metacognitive evaluations about their memory abilities (below-group less then control-group less then above-group). Although fake performance feedback did not affect actual offloading behavior, the participants receiving below-average performance feedback reported that they had relied more on an offloading strategy than those participants receiving above-average performance feedback. Furthermore, the participants in the below-group reported lower general memory abilities than the other groups at the end of the experiment. We conclude that while fake performance feedback strongly influenced metacognitive beliefs, this did not transfer into a change of strategy selection, thus not influencing offloading behavior. We propose to consider not only metacognitive beliefs but also metacognitive experiences as potential determinants of cognitive offloading.

Dried blood spot was used as the bio-sampling method and was optimized and validated by using propranolol as the internal standard. The sample was prepared using a protein precipitation technique optimized. Reversed-phase chromatography with Acquity® UPLC BEH C18 column (1.7, 2.1× 100 mm) was used for compound separation.
Optimized analytical condition for this substance was eluted with the flow rate of 0.20 mL/min under a gradient of the mobile phase of 0.1% formic acid in water and acetonitrile within 3 min. Triple quadrupole mass spectrometry with electrospray ionization (ESI) in positive mode was used as quantification analysis. The Multiple Reaction Monitoring (MRM) was set at m/z 71.99>55.23 (m/z) for acrylamide and 260.2>116.2 (m/z) for propranolol. The range of concentration was linear within 2.5-100 μg mL-1.

Heat shock proteins are induced by high temperature and other environmental stimuli to protect cellular proteins. Despite extensive research on the molecular response to heat stress, the effect of high temperatures on genes and pathways remains unclear. This study investigated the expression of the HSP17 gene in nine Egyptian wheat varieties and the role of HSP17 promoter CpG methylation in the regulation of HSP17 under high temperature.
The HSP17 expression was investigated by using semi-quantitative PCR analysis. Methylation at the HSP17 promoter proximal region was analyzed using bisulphite sequencing and CpG viewer software.
Under normal conditions, HSP17 and methyltransferase 3 (MET3) exhibited similar expression levels in the 9 studied varieties. Typhoid fever is endemic in most countries, causing major public health problems with high morbidity and mortality, the resistance of Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi (S. Typhi) towards antimicrobials is recently increased. The aim was to detect the harboring gyrA gene in Typhi Salmonella enterica serovar.
Twenty Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi isolates were obtained from the Teaching laboratories of the medical city in Baghdad, the isolates were obtained from blood specimens from typhoid patients. Colonies of Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi appeared on CHROM agar and Xylose Lysine Deoxycholate Agar (XLD) as light mauve to mauve-colored and as red with black center colonies, respectively. Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) technique was used to detect the presence of the gyrA gene within the twenty isolates with specific primer.
All twenty isolates show the highest resistance rates to Cefazolin 18 (90%), Ciprofloxacin 16 (80%), and Nalidixic acid 15 (75%), while it shows highest sensitivity rates to Cefepime 18 (90%) and Tobramycin 16 (80%) antibiotics. The ****values show equal to or more than breakpoint of Nalidixic acid and Ciprofloxacin were 15 (75%) and 16 (80%) isolates, respectively.

Data from the US suggest that chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients have aged in the past decade. However, the burden of non-liver comorbidities have not been well characterized in Taiwan, where CHB is very prevalent.
Our study examined this issue as it presented between 2001 and 2011in Taiwan.
This study identified adult patients (≥18 years) who were diagnosed with CHB in 2001, 2006, and 2011, from the Taiwan National Health Insurance Research Database (NHIRD). Changes in demographic characteristics, prevalence of non-liver comorbidities, and medication usage over the decade were examined. Non-CHB controls were adults without CHB diagnosis from the Longitudinal Health Insurance Database 2000 (LHID2000).
A total of 102,158, 252,809, and 338,200 eligible patients were identified in 2001, 2006, and 2011, respectively. The mean age significantly advanced from 45.4 to 52.3 years over the decade (P<0.001). The prevalence of comorbidities, including diabetes mellitus, hypertension, stroke, chronic kidney disease, and bone fracture all significantly increased between 2001 and 2011 (all P<0.001), as so were medication usage (all P<0.001). Moreover, within each study period, compared to non-CHB controls, CHB patients were also older and more likely to have metabolic and cardiovascular comorbidities (all P<0.001). In addition, the annual non-liver mortality in the CHB population significantly increased from 2001 to 2011.
Over a decade, the CHB population in Taiwan has aged with a higher non-liver comorbidity burden and increasing non-liver mortality. These findings may provide information to care providers in the monitoring and management of CHB patients.

Spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is a frequent cerebrovascular disorder and still associated with high mortality and poor clinical outcomes. The purpose of this review was to update a 15-year-old former meta-analysis on randomized clinical trials (RCTs) addressing the question of whether ICH patients treated with dexamethasone have better outcomes than controls.
The electronic databases PubMed, SCOPUS, and Cochrane as well as web platforms on current clinical trials were searched for the years 1970-2020 without constriction on language. Data were extracted and outcomes were pooled for conventional and cumulative meta-analysis using a commercial software program (www.Meta-Analysis.com).
Finally, 7 RCTs were identified and analyzed including 248 participants in the dexamethasone groups and 242 in the control groups. Five studies showed a high risk of bias. The overall relative risk (RR) for death was 1.32 (95% confidence interval [CI] 0.99-1.76; p = 0.06) and did not differ significantly betweene is still lacking.
