  • To describe and compare the epidemiology of competition injuries in unarmed combat sports (ie, boxing, judo, taekwondo and wrestling) in three consecutive Olympic Games.

    Prospective cohort study using injury data from the IOC injury surveillance system and exposure data from official tournament records at three consecutive Olympic Games (ie, Beijing 2008, London 2012 and Rio de Janeiro 2016). Competition injury incidence rates per 1000 min of exposure (IIR

The proportion of injuries resulting in >7 days absence from competition or training was higher in wrestling (39.6%), judo (35.9%) and taekwondo (32.5%) than in boxing (21.0%). There was no difference in injury risk by sex, weight category or tournament round, but athletes that lost had significantly higher IIR

After infection, individuals undergo a period of incubation during which viral titers are too low to detect, followed by exponential viral growth, leading to peak viral load and infectiousness and ending with declining titers and clearance. Given the pattern of viral load kinetics, we model the effectiveness of repeated population screening considering test sensitivities, frequency, and sample-to-answer reporting time. These results demonstrate that effective screening depends largely on frequency of testing and speed of reporting and is only marginally improved by high test sensitivity. Using 129Xe MRI, we found that COVID-19 patients show a higher rate of ventilation defects (5.9% versus 3.7%), unchanged microstructure, and longer gas-blood exchange time (43.5 ms versus 32.5 ms) compared with healthy individuals. These findings suggest that regional ventilation and alveolar airspace dimensions are relatively normal around the time of discharge, while gas-blood exchange function is diminished. This study establishes the feasibility of localized lung function measurements in COVID-19 patients and their potential usefulness as a supplement to structural imaging.
    Natriuretic peptides are an important prognostic marker in patients with heart failure (HF). However, little is known regarding their prognostic significance in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) without HF and natriuretic peptides levels are underused in these patients in daily practice.

    The Fushimi AF Registry is a community-based prospective survey of patients with AF in Fushimi-ku, Kyoto, Japan. We investigated patients with AF without HF (defined as prior HF hospitalisation, New York Heart Association functional class≥2 or left ventricular ejection fraction<40%) using the data of B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP, n=388) or N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP, n=771) at enrolment. BNPs were converted to NT-proBNP using a conversion formula. We divided the patients according to quartiles of NT-proBNP levels and compared the backgrounds and outcomes.

    Of 1159 patients (mean age 72.1±10.2 years, median CHA

    -VASc score 3 and oral anticoagulant (OAC) prescription 671 (56%)), the median NT-proBNP level was 488 (IQR 169-1015) ng/L. Patients with high NT-proBNP levels were older, had higher CHA

    -VASc scores and had more OAC prescription (all p<0.001). Kaplan-Meier curves demonstrated that NT-proBNP levels were significantly associated with higher incidences of stroke/systemic embolism, all-cause death and HF hospitalisation during a median follow-up period of 5.0 years (log rank, all p<0.001). Multivariable Cox regression analyses revealed that NT-proBNP levels were an independent predictor of adverse outcomes even after adjustment by various confounders.

    To describe annual incidence and temporal trends (2002-2014) in incidence of long-term outcomes of adult out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) of presumed cardiac aetiology attended by Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics, by age, gender, geographical remoteness and socioeconomic status (SES).

Analyses were undertaken by three mutually exclusive outcomes (1) survival to less than 30 days (Surv<30 days); (2) survival from 30 to 364 days (Surv30-364 days); and (3) survival to 365 days or more (Surv365+ days). Incidence rates were calculated for each year by gender, age, remoteness and SES.

  • The peroxo compounds H2O2 and K2S2O8 represent one of the major constituents in many oscillatory chemical systems. In this contribution we demonstrate that beside H2O2 and S2 O 8 2 - the sodium perborate (NaBO3·H2O) can act as alternative oxidizing agent in oscillatory reactions. So far the H2O2 has been successfully substituted with NaBO3 in two oscillators in the BO 3 - -S2 O 3 2 - -Cu(II) flow system potential and pH oscillations, in the strongly alkaline Cu(II)-catalyzed BO 3 - -SCN- batch reaction, which are rather different in their chemistry and dynamics, potential oscillations were observed. In spite of the significant differences in the oxidizing nature of H2O2 and NaBO3 we assume that the oscillatory cycle in the BO 3 - -substrate and in the H2O2-substrate systems is similar in many aspects, therefore the numbers of this new subgroup of the oscillators may be considered to be borate-mediated H2O2 oscillators. Mechanisms are suggested and simulations are shown to describe the oscillatory behaviors observed in the perborate chemistry based oscillators by using the assumption that the oxidation reactions of the intermediates (HO)3B(OOH)- and (HO)2B(OOH) 2 - anions, which are dominant species in alkaline and neutral pH solutions of perborate, are **** faster than that of H2O2.Dynamic states with intermittent oscillations consist of a chaotic mixture of large amplitude relaxation oscillations grouped in bursts, and between them, small-amplitude sinusoidal oscillations, or even the quiescent parts, known as gaps. In this study, intermittent dynamic states were generated in Bray-Liebhafsky (BL) oscillatory reaction in an isothermal continuously-fed, well-stirred tank reactor (CSTR) controled by changes of specific flow rate. The intermittent states were found between two regular periodic states and obtained for specific flow rate values from 0.020 to 0.082 min-1. Phenomenological analysis based on the quantitative characteristics of intermittent oscillations, as well as, the largest Lyapunov exponents calculated from experimentally obtained time series, both indicated the same type of behavior. Namely, fully developed chaos arises when approaching to the vertical asymptote which is somewhere between two bifurcations. Hence, this study proposes described route to fully developed chaos in the Bray-Liebhafsky oscillatory reaction as an explanation for experimentally observed intermittent dynamics. This is in correlation with our previously obtained results where the most chaotic intermittent chaos was achieved between the periodic oscillatory dynamic state and stable steady state, generated in BL under CSTR conditions by varying temperature and inflow potassium iodate concentration. By combining chemical computing techniques in the arrays with glycolytic excitable channels, we propose a cellular assemblage design for advanced chemical computing.In this study, a magnetic porphyrin-based porous organic polymer (MP-POP) nanocomposite was successfully synthesized according previous studies and applied as an adsorbent for simultaneous extraction and preconcentration of four neonicotinoid insecticides from surface river water. The MP-POP was characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy/energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (SEM/EDS), N2-adsorption/desorption analysis, Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The neonicotinoid insecticides were quantified using high performance chromatography coupled with diode array detector (HPLC-DAD). The MP-POP shown to have a high surface area, highly porous structure and strong affinity toward the investigated analytes. The adsorption capacities were 99.0, 85.5, 90.0, and 79.4 mg g-1 for acetamiprid, clothiandin, thiacloprid and imidacloprid, respectively. The influential parameters affecting the magmatic μ-solid phase extraction (M-μ-SPE) procedure were investigated using fractional factorial design and surface response methodology (RSM). Under optimum conditions, the method exhibited relatively low limit of detection in the range of 1.3-3.2 ng L-1, limit of quantification in the range of 4.3-11 ng L-1 and wide linearity (up to 600 μg L-1). The intraday and interday precision, expressed as the relative standard deviation (RSD) were less then 5%. The percentage recoveries for the four target analytes ranged from 91 to 99.3% for the spiked river water samples. The method was applied for determination of neonicotinoids in river water samples and concentrations ranged from 0 to 190 ng L-1.

    We have analyzed several issues which could be critical for understanding the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease, specifically 1) the need for a negatively charged membrane to produce the ion channel; 2) the potential role of the aggregated form in cellular toxicity of Aβ peptides; 3) channelforming ability of multiple degradation products of amyloid; 4) non-specificity of ion channels formed by amyloid peptides. Potential targets of channel-forming oligomers appear to be intracellular and are organelles well-known for dysfunction in Alzheimer's disease (mitochondria and lysosomes). In fact, lysosomes can also be the producers of degraded amyloid. Provided speculations support the hypothesis that neuronal toxicity can be caused by the degradation products of beta-amyloid.
    We have recently identified Huntingtin (Htt), the pathogenic protein in Huntington's disease, as a mediator of Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathology in an amyloid precursor protein (APP) knock-in mouse model of AD. That finding prompted us to examine if Htt is accumulated in the brains of AD patients and in which cell type Htt is present in the AD brain.

    To investigate whether location and levels of Htt are affected in hippocampus and frontal cortex in AD.

    Brains from AD patients (n=11) and controls (n=11) were stained for Htt using immunohistochemistry and signal intensity of Htt was quantified and localized in subregions and neurons. Confocal microscopy was used to characterize neuronal Htt localisation and its relationship with tau tangles and astrocytes.

    Htt levels were increased in neuronal cells in the granular layer of the dentate gyrus, in CA1 and CA3 in hippocampus and in layer III of the frontal cortex.   • The purpose of this study was to examine the changes in muscle size and strength throughout the menstrual cycle in females and to compare these values to a control group of time-matched males.

    12 males and 16 females visited the laboratory on four occasions. Measures of muscle thickness (MTH), isometric strength and body water were taken during the menstrual phase, ovulation phase and luteal phase of the menstrual cycle. Males scheduled their visits based on a **** menstrual cycle. Black rats (Rattus rattus) and domestic goats (Capra hircus) were introduced to the island at some time after its discovery by Europeans in the late 1500s. They had a devastating effect on the island, resulting in the loss of nearly all trees and most of the ground vegetation. Point count surveys of P. atratus in 2012 indicated low densities, and the invasive rats were observed hunting and preying on the lizards. Both populations of rats and goats were successfully removed in 2017 as part of an ecological restoration program, and native vegetation and invertebrate populations have increased rapidly since. Population surveys in 2017, 2018, and 2019 show the lizard population has increased by more than sixfold. In 2017, as rats and goats were being removed, we evaluated the morphology and escape behavior of this species and repeated these measurements 1 year later. We observed that P. atratus had become bolder, with a reduced flight distance. We also detected changes in limb morphology related to locomotion and suggest possible explanations that will need to be further investigated in the future. These results show how the removal of invasive species can rapidly affect lizard population recovery and behavior, potentially restoring island ecosystems to their pre-human interference dynamics.
    The importance of patient expectations (PEs) on treatment outcomes is poorly understood in clinical practice. The aim of this review is to investigate the evidence behind association between pre-treatment PEs and treatment outcomes such as pain intensity (PI), level of function (LF) and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) among individuals with chronic low **** pain (CLBP).

    A systematic search was conducted for randomised controlled trials published between 1946 and May 2019 across major databases using the key MeSH terminologies. The association between PEs and PI, LF and HRQoL were extracted and categorised into positive, negative or no association for analysing the data. A descriptive synthesis was conducted and the association between PEs and PI, LF and HRQoL were reported.

    Among the total of seven trials, two trials demonstrated a positive association between PEs and PI in short (≤6weeks) and long term (>6months), while another two trials demonstrated no association at medium term (>6weeks-≤6months). About four trials demonstrated a positive significant association between PEs and LF, 2 at medium and 2 at long terms. The only available trial demonstrated no association between PEs and HRQoL at medium term.

In this study, ultrahigh performance liquid chromatography-Q Exactive hybrid quadrupole-orbitrap high-resolution accurate mass spectrometry (UHPLC-Q Orbitrap HRMS), in combination of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), was used to identify the components in GXNI, which led to the identification of 194 compounds. With the aid of solvent partition, more phthalides, diterpenoid quinines, and salvianolic acids were tentatively identified, and minor compounds with the other structural types were also detected. The structural diversity of phthalides and diterpenoid quinones were revealed by the structural network, and six phthalides and 13 diterpenoid quinones were further detected in GXNI with the help of the characteristic fragmentation pattern and structural network. In addition, NMR also revealed the presence of a series of primary metabolites in the GXNI, which could be used as a complimentary approach for the rapid identification of the chemical components in the traditional Chinese medicines (TCM). However, the unknown NMR signals of GXNI needed to be further identified to guarantee the drug safety.

The objective of this study was to find potential CECs by means of an analytical screening method referred to as comprehensive target analysis with an automated identification and quantification system (CTA-AIQS), which uses gas and liquid chromatography combined with mass spectrometry (GC-MS and LC-QTOF-MS). We used CTA-AIQS to analyze samples from a sediment core collected in Beppu Bay, Japan. Vehicle dynamic-based simulation model were used to calculated emission factors using the emission maps as input data, which were developed from real-world emissions. We developed emission factors by fuel type, emission regulation, aftertreatment system and engine displacement. Among various factors, the introduction of Real Driving Emission (RDE) regulation had the greatest influence on the emission factor. For diesel LDVs, NOx and CO emission factors of the Euro 6 d-temp vehicles, which have been applied RDE regulation for the first time, were lower than those of the Euro 5 and Euro 6 ****vehicles. Here, we recruited 941 pregnant women with a full set of urine samples in the three trimesters collected under a cohort study project in Wuhan, China, between 2014 and 2015. We measured the concentrations of 8 bisphenols in 2823 urine samples, and calculated the average concentrations of bisphenols, which were detected in over 50% of samples, once during each trimester of pregnancy. We calculated the maximum cumulative ratio (MCR) on basis of estimated daily intake (EDI), hazard quotient (HQ), hazard index (HI) of three major bisphenols, including bisphenol A (BPA), bisphenol F (BPF), and bisphenol S (BPS), to find which one or mixtures drive risks. Participants were categorized into four groups according to their maximum HQ, HI and MCR values. We found negative relationships between log(MCR-1) and log(HI) with the slope (-0.6431). Percentage of HQ of BPA in HI ranged from 37.1% (95th percentiles of HI) indicating the upward trend of dominance by BPA at increasing HI ranges. The cumulative health risks of bisphenol exposures largely originated from the health hazards of BPA and BPS, particularly BPA. In this study, transformation of bacterial community structure in rumen liquid anaerobic digestion of rice straw was explored. Results showed that rice straw was efficiently hydrolyzed and acidified, and the degradation efficiency of cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin reached 46.2%, 60.4%, and 12.9%, respectively. The concentration of soluble chemical oxygen demand (SCOD) and total volatile fatty acid (VFA) reached 12.9 and 8.04 g L-1. The high-throughput sequencing results showed that structure of rumen bacterial community significantly changed in anaerobic digestion. The Shannon diversity index showed that rumen bacterial diversity decreased by 32.8% on the 5th day of anaerobic digestion. The relative abundance of Prevotella and Fibrobacter significantly increased, while Ruminococcus significantly decreased at the genus level. The Spearman correlation heatmap showed that pH and VFA were the critical factors affecting the rumen bacterial community structure. The function prediction found that rumen bacteria mainly functioned in carbohydrate transport and metabolism, which might contain a large number of lignocellulose degrading enzyme genes. We also developed a method for calculating per-bee and per-larva dose. Pristine® consumption significantly and dose-dependently reduced worker lifespan and colony population size, with negative health effects observed even at the lowest doses. The lowest concentration we tested caused a 15% reduction in the worker population at an estimated dosage that was three orders of magnitude below the estimated LD15 values for previous acute laboratory studies.

In this paper, map-based simulations were used to develop emission factors of CO2, NOx and CO based on real-world emissions, as were measured with a Portable Emission Measurement System (PEMS). Vehicle dynamic-based simulation model were used to calculated emission factors using the emission maps as input data, which were developed from real-world emissions. We developed emission factors by fuel type, emission regulation, aftertreatment system and engine displacement. Among various factors, the introduction of Real Driving Emission (RDE) regulation had the greatest influence on the emission factor. For diesel LDVs, NOx and CO emission factors of the Euro 6 d-temp vehicles, which have been applied RDE regulation for the first time, were lower than those of the Euro 5 and Euro 6 b/c vehicles. However, the CO2 emission factors of the Euro 6 d-temp was higher than those of the Euro 5 and Euro 6 b/c vehicles. In addition to calculating emission factors, the proposed methodology provides an improved process that simulate vehicle emissions based on real-world emissions.Bisphenol A and its alternatives are frequently detected in environmental and human samples, but studies associated with the pattern of combined health hazards from the exposure to the bisphenol mixtures are lacking, particularly for pregnant women. Here, we recruited 941 pregnant women with a full set of urine samples in the three trimesters collected under a cohort study project in Wuhan, China, between 2014 and 2015. We measured the concentrations of 8 bisphenols in 2823 urine samples, and calculated the average concentrations of bisphenols, which were detected in over 50% of samples, once during each trimester of pregnancy. We calculated the maximum cumulative ratio (MCR) on basis of estimated daily intake (EDI), hazard quotient (HQ), hazard index (HI) of three major bisphenols, including bisphenol A (BPA), bisphenol F (BPF), and bisphenol S (BPS), to find which one or mixtures drive risks. Participants were categorized into four groups according to their maximum HQ, HI and MCR values. We found negative relationships between log(MCR-1) and log(HI) with the slope (-0.6431). Percentage of HQ of BPA in HI ranged from 37.1% (95th percentiles of HI) indicating the upward trend of dominance by BPA at increasing HI ranges. The cumulative health risks of bisphenol exposures largely originated from the health hazards of BPA and BPS, particularly BPA. The Hyaloperonospora arabidopsidis effector ATR1 activates the N-terminal Toll-interleukin-1 receptor (TIR) domain of Arabidopsis NLR RPP1. We report a cryo-electron microscopy structure of RPP1 bound by ATR1. The structure reveals a C-terminal jelly roll/Ig-like domain (C-JID) for specific ATR1 recognition. Biochemical and functional analyses show that ATR1 binds to the C-JID and the LRRs to induce an RPP1 tetrameric assembly required for nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide hydrolase (NADase) activity. RPP1 tetramerization creates two potential active sites, each formed by an asymmetric TIR homodimer. Although its activity is essential to fight infection and support tissue homeostasis, the inflammasome complex, which consists of the danger sensor NLRP3, the adaptor apoptosis-associated speck-like protein containing a CARD (ASC; also known as PYCARD), caspase-1 and probably other regulatory proteins, also bears considerable potential for detrimental inflammation, as observed in human conditions such as gout, heart attack, stroke and Alzheimer's disease. Thus, multi-layered regulatory networks are required to ensure the fine balance between rapid responsiveness versus erroneous activation (sufficient and temporally restricted versus excessive and chronic activity) of the inflammasome.     Ultrasound (US)-guided radiofrequency ablation (RFA) of genicular nerves (GNs) is increasingly performed to manage chronic knee pain. The anatomical foundations supporting the choice of original targets for US-guided GN-RFA have been thoroughly improved by recent anatomical studies. Therefore, this study aimed to provide a new protocol with revised anatomical targets for US-guided GN-RFA and to assess their accuracy in a cadaveric model.

    Fourteen fresh-frozen cadaveric knees were used. After a pilot study with 4 knees, five consistent nerves were targeted in the other 10 knees with revised anatomical landmarks superior medial genicular nerve (SMGN), superior lateral genicular nerve (SLGN), inferior medial genicular nerve (IMGN), recurrent fibular nerve (RFN) and the infrapatellar branch of the saphenous nerve (IPBSN). For each nerve, the lumen of radiofrequency (RF) cannula was prefilled with non-diffusible black paint, and then the cannula was inserted at the target site under US guidance. After US verifed GN-RFA with revised anatomical targets resulted in accurate capture of the five targeted nerves. This protocol provides precise sensory denervation of a larger panel of nerves, targeting those whose constancy regarding anatomical location has been clearly demonstrated. It is expected to improve the clinical outcomes.Quantum computers promise to perform certain tasks that are believed to be intractable to classical computers. Boson sampling is such a task and is considered a strong candidate to demonstrate the quantum computational advantage. We performed Gaussian boson sampling by sending 50 indistinguishable single-mode squeezed states into a 100-mode ultralow-loss interferometer with full connectivity and random matrix-the whole optical setup is phase-locked-and sampling the output using 100 high-efficiency single-photon detectors. The obtained samples were validated against plausible hypotheses exploiting thermal states, distinguishable photons, and uniform distribution. The photonic quantum computer, Jiuzhang, generates up to 76 output photon clicks, which yields an output state-space dimension of 1030 and a sampling rate that is faster than using the state-of-the-art simulation strategy and supercomputers by a factor of ~1014.

  • Pain assessment is a key measure that accompanies treatments in a wide range of clinical settings. A low-cost valid and reliable pressure algometer would allow objective assessment of pressure pain to assist a variety of health professionals. However, the pressure algometer is often expensive, which limits its daily use in both clinical and research settings.

    This study aimed to assess the instrumental validity, and the intra- and inter-rater reliability of an inexpensive digital adapted pressure algometer.

    A single rater applied 60 random compressions on a force platform. The pressure pain thresholds of 20 volunteers were collected twice (3 days apart) by two raters.     To assess the adequacy of clinical information with reference to the Ottawa Ankle Rules (OAR) in X-ray referrals for adults with traumatic ankle injury in the ED of a South Australian tertiary hospital and report upon referring trends between emergency department clinicians.

    A retrospective clinical audit of adult ankle X-ray referrals in the emergency department was conducted. Eligible referrals were screened for their adherence to the OAR, patient details, clinical history and referrer. A logistic regression was used to determine the influence of these factors on the likelihood of being referred for X-rays despite not meeting the OAR criteria. Sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative likelihood ratios and their associated confidence intervals were calculated to assess the diagnostic accuracy of the OAR for those referred.

    Out of the 262 eligible referrals, 163 were deemed to have met the criteria for the OAR. Physiotherapists showed the highest OAR compliance of 77.3% and were the most accurate for the implementation of individual and/or institutional-based change strategies to improve clinician compliance and accuracy with use of the OAR.
    Flower and fruit development are vital stages of the angiosperm lifecycle. We previously investigated the multi-silique trait in the rapeseed (
    ) line zws-ms on a genomic and transcriptomic level, leading to the identification of two genomic regions and several candidate genes associated with this trait. However, some events on the transcriptome level, like alternative splicing, were poorly understood.

    Plants from zws-ms and its near-isogenic line (NIL) zws-217 were both grown in Xindu with normal conditions and a colder area Ma'erkang. Buds from the two lines were sampled and RNA was isolated to perform the transcriptomic sequencing. The numbers and types of alternative splicing (AS) events from the two lines were counted and classified. Genes with AS events and expressed differentially between the two lines, as well as genes with AS events which occurred in only one line were emphasized. Their annotations were further studied.

    From the plants in Xindu District, an average of 205,496 AS events, which ted, and two were considered to be important.

Many countries, including Poland imposed lockdown as a method of securing social distance between potentially infected. Stay-at-home orders and movement control within public space not only affected the touristm industry, but also the everyday life of the inhabitants. The hourly time-lapse from four HD webcams in Cracow (Poland) are used in this study to estimate how pedestrian activity changed during COVID-19 lockdown. The collected data covers the period from 9 June 2016 to 19 April 2020 and comes from various urban zones. One zone is tourist, one is residential and two are mixed. In the first stage of the analysis, a state-of-the-art machine learning algorithm (YOLOv3) is used to detect people. Additionally, a non-standard application of the YOLO method is proposed, oriented to the images from HD webcams. This approach (YOLOtiled) is less prone to pedestrian detection errors with the only drawback being the longer computation time. Splitting the HD image into smaller tiles increases the number of detected pedestrians by over 50%. In the second stage, the analysis of pedestrian activity before and during the COVID-19 lockdown is conducted for hourly, daily and weekly averages. Depending on the type of urban zone, the number of pedestrians decreased from 33% in residential zones to 85% in tourist zones located in the Old Town. The presented method allows for more efficient detection and counting of pedestrians from HD time-lapse webcam images compared to SSD, YOLOv3 and Faster R-CNN. The result of the research is a published database with the detected number of pedestrians from the four-year observation period for four locations in Cracow.

To assess the adequacy of clinical information with reference to the Ottawa Ankle Rules (OAR) in X-ray referrals for adults with traumatic ankle injury in the ED of a South Australian tertiary hospital and report upon referring trends between emergency department clinicians. A retrospective clinical audit of adult ankle X-ray referrals in the emergency department was conducted. Eligible referrals were screened for their adherence to the OAR, patient details, clinical history and referrer. A logistic regression was used to determine the influence of these factors on the likelihood of being referred for X-rays despite not meeting the OAR criteria. Sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative likelihood ratios and their associated confidence intervals were calculated to assess the diagnostic accuracy of the OAR for those referred. Out of the 262 eligible referrals, 163 were deemed to have met the criteria for the OAR. Physiotherapists showed the highest OAR compliance of 77.3% and were the most accurate for the implementation of individual and/or institutional-based change strategies to improve clinician compliance and accuracy with use of the OAR. Flower and fruit development are vital stages of the angiosperm lifecycle. We previously investigated the multi-silique trait in the rapeseed ( ) line zws-ms on a genomic and transcriptomic level, leading to the identification of two genomic regions and several candidate genes associated with this trait. However, some events on the transcriptome level, like alternative splicing, were poorly understood. Plants from zws-ms and its near-isogenic line (NIL) zws-217 were both grown in Xindu with normal conditions and a colder area Ma'erkang. Buds from the two lines were sampled and RNA was isolated to perform the transcriptomic sequencing. The numbers and types of alternative splicing (AS) events from the two lines were counted and classified. Genes with AS events and expressed differentially between the two lines, as well as genes with AS events which occurred in only one line were emphasized. Their annotations were further studied. From the plants in Xindu District, an average of 205,496 AS events, which ted, and two were considered to be important. Many countries, including Poland imposed lockdown as a method of securing social distance between potentially infected. Stay-at-home orders and movement control within public space not only affected the touristm industry, but also the everyday life of the inhabitants. The hourly time-lapse from four HD webcams in Cracow (Poland) are used in this study to estimate how pedestrian activity changed during COVID-19 lockdown. The collected data covers the period from 9 June 2016 to 19 April 2020 and comes from various urban zones. One zone is tourist, one is residential and two are mixed. In the first stage of the analysis, a state-of-the-art machine learning algorithm (YOLOv3) is used to detect people. Additionally, a non-standard application of the YOLO method is proposed, oriented to the images from HD webcams. This approach (YOLOtiled) is less prone to pedestrian detection errors with the only drawback being the longer computation time. Splitting the HD image into smaller tiles increases the number of detected pedestrians by over 50%. In the second stage, the analysis of pedestrian activity before and during the COVID-19 lockdown is conducted for hourly, daily and weekly averages. Depending on the type of urban zone, the number of pedestrians decreased from 33% in residential zones to 85% in tourist zones located in the Old Town. The presented method allows for more efficient detection and counting of pedestrians from HD time-lapse webcam images compared to SSD, YOLOv3 and Faster R-CNN. The result of the research is a published database with the detected number of pedestrians from the four-year observation period for four locations in Cracow.

  • In this article, we present several protocols that describe the steps from cloning and obtaining a large amount of pure plasmid DNA to generation of lentiviruses based on these constructs. The protocols have been worked out on human cell culture HEK293T but can be adapted for other cell cultures. This protocol was designed to be simple to execute and cheap since it requires only materials and consumables widely available in molecular laboratories, such as salts, alcohols, etc., and no complicated laboratory equipment. These protocols are highly effective and can be performed in any standard molecular biology laboratory.Music has been reported as a positive intervention for improving psychophysiological conditions and exercise performance. However, the effects of music intervention on golf performance in association with psychophysiological responses have not been well examined in the literature. The purpose of the study was to investigate the acute effects of self-selected music intervention on golf swing and putting performance, heart rate (HR), HR variability (HRV), and anxiety. Twenty collegiate golfers voluntarily participated in this study (age = 20.2 ± 1.4 years, height = 171.7 ± 8.0 cm, body weight = 69.5 ± 14.6 kg, golf experience = 7.5 ± 2.1 years). A cross-over and within-subject design was used in this study. Here, we reviewed the genomic structure and regulation, the genetic diversity, and the analysis of the principal multi-gene families of the recent genomes for several strains. The telomeric and sub-telomeric regions are sites with high recombination events, the genome displays two different compartments, the core and the disruptive, and the genome plasticity seems to play a key role in the survival and the infection process. Trypanosoma cruzi (T. cruzi) genome is composed mainly of multi-gene families as the trans-sialidases, mucins, and mucin-associated surface proteins. Trans-sialidases are the most abundant genes in the genome and show an important role in the effectiveness of the infection and the parasite survival. Mucins and MASPs are also important glycosylated proteins of the surface of the parasite that play a major biological role in both insect and mammal-dwelling stages. Altogether, these studies confirm the complexity of T. cruzi genome revealing relevant concepts to better understand Chagas disease.Some eukaryotes exhibit dramatic genome size differences between cells of different organs, resulting from programmed elimination of chromosomes. Here, we present the first transcriptome analysis of programmed chromosome elimination using laser capture microdissection (LCM)-based isolation of the central meristematic region of Aegilops speltoides embryos where B chromosome (B) elimination occurs. The comparative RNA-seq analysis of meristematic cells of embryos with (Bplus) and without Bs (B0) allowed the identification of 14,578 transcript isoforms (35% out of 41,615 analyzed transcript isoforms) that are differentially expressed during the elimination of Bs. A total of 2908 annotated unigenes were found to be up-regulated in Bplus condition. These genes are either associated with the process of B chromosome elimination or with the presence of B chromosomes themselves. GO enrichment analysis categorized up-regulated transcript isoforms into 27 overrepresented terms related to the biological process, nine terms of the molecular function aspect and three terms of the cellular component category. A total of 2726 annotated unigenes were down-regulated in Bplus condition. Based on strict filtering criteria, 341 B-unique transcript isoforms could be identified in central meristematic cells, of which 70 were functionally annotated. Beside others, genes associated with chromosome segregation, kinetochore function and spindle checkpoint activity were retrieved as promising candidates involved in the process of B chromosome elimination.Fibroblast growth factor receptor 4 (FGFR4), one of four tyrosine kinase receptors for FGFs, is involved in diverse cellular processes. Activation of FGF19/FGFR4 signaling is closely associated with cancer development and progression. In this study, we examined the expression and roles of FGF19/FGFR4 signaling in human pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). In human PDAC cases, FGFR4 expression positively correlated with larger primary tumors and more advanced stages. Among eight PDAC cell lines, FGFR4 was expressed at the highest levels in PK-1 cells, in which single-nucleotide polymorphism G388R in FGFR4 was detected. For inhibition of autocrine/paracrine FGF19/FGFR4 signaling, we used BLU9931, a highly selective FGFR4 inhibitor. Inhibition of signal transduction through ERK, AKT, and STAT3 pathways by BLU9931 reduced proliferation in FGF19/FGFR4 signaling-activated PDAC cells. By contrast, BLU9931 did not alter stemness features, including stemness marker expression, anticancer drug resistance, and sphere-forming ability.

    This study aims to compare the quality of free autogenous bone grafts harvested from two different mandibular donor sites, used as onlay shells to augment horizontally and vertically deficient anterior maxillary alveolar ridges.

    Fourteen patients with edentulous and atrophic anterior maxillae are randomly allocated into two groups. Seven symphyseal chin (group I) and seven retromolar (group II) mandibular bone grafts were harvested and fashioned to construct buccal and palatal frameworks, fixed in place with mini-screws, followed by compacting the inter-positional gaps with an equal particulate mix of xenograft and autogenous cancellous particulates. Six months later, 42 core biopsies, three from each patient, 21 for each study group, were retrieved before the implants' insertion and subjected to histomorphometric bone area percent analysis.

    The bone area percent of the newly formed bone augmented with the chin shells was 52.53 ± 1.68% versus 47.97 ±1.83% for the retromolar grafts. The mean area percent difference between both groups was statistically significant (p = 0.0004).

    A higher bone quality and more volumetric stability were associated with the symphyseal cortical shells.

It has a production system characterized by an average milk yield of 6216 kg/***/year, and the predominance of pasture-based feeding and cows that have longer productive lives and lower incidence of metabolic/production diseases, such as acidosis or mastitis. The biggest problem with the Azores Islands dairy sector is the cost of transport, as the main markets are located in continental Portugal, over 1500 km away, and local dairy products have to compete with dairy products produced in mainland Portugal and in the rest of the European Union. Herein, the evolution of the dairy sector in the Azores Islands from 2007 to 2017 is presented. A SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, and Threat) analysis was performed to find potential solutions to increase the value of the Azorean dairy sector. The most relevant solution considered was the valorization of the dairy production through three major aspects higher milk quality, namely, better organoleptic properties; lower carbon footprint (not considering transport costs); and higher levels of animal welfare. Three examples are shown of such valorization protected denomination of origin (PDO) cheeses, the "happy cows" program, and the production of an organic milk, from the Terceira Island. Some of these programs are relatively recent, so, it will be interesting to see how their sales and acceptance by consumers evolve, particularly under the current economic framework.Knowledge of variations of the internal carotid artery is significant to surgeons and radiologists. We report a case of a large loop of the internal carotid artery in a male cadaver aged about 75 years. From the level of origin, the internal carotid artery coursed upwards, backwards and laterally, and formed a large loop behind the internal jugular vein. The variation was found on the left side of the neck and was unilateral. We developed an automated device and testing protocol that allowed us to administer tests of reversal learning in captivity without extensive training or experimenter involvement. Although most subjects were able to rapidly form and reverse learned associations, we found moderate variation in performance and behavior during trials. Most notably, we observed heightened neophobia and a lack of habituation expressed by coyotes. We discuss the implications of such differences among generalists with regard to urban adaptation and we identify goals for future research. A total of 164,485 fungal reads were observed from the five plant rhizospheres and Usherhopper gut. The highest reads were in S. italica rhizosphere (29,883 reads). Species richness in the P. bufonius gut was the highest among the six samples. Ascomycota was dominant in all samples, with the highest reads in E. desvauxii (26,734 reads) rhizosphere. Sordariomycetes and Dothideomycetes were the dominant classes detected with the highest abundance in C. colocynthis and E. desvauxii rhizospheres. Aspergillus and Ceratobasidium were the most abundant genera in the R. stricta rhizosphere, Fusarium and Penicillium in the E. desvauxii rhizosphere and P. bufonius gut, Ceratobasidium and Myrothecium in the C. colocynthis rhizosphere, Aspergillus and Fusarium in the S.

This study is an important step in investigating the relationships between cognition, generalism, and urban adaptation.This study aimed to compare the fungal rhizosphere communities of Rhazya stricta, Enneapogon desvauxii, Citrullus colocynthis, Senna italica, and Zygophyllum simplex, and the gut mycobiota of Poekilocerus bufonius (Orthoptera, Pyrgomorphidae, "Usherhopper"). A total of 164,485 fungal reads were observed from the five plant rhizospheres and Usherhopper gut. The highest reads were in S. italica rhizosphere (29,883 reads). Species richness in the P. bufonius gut was the highest among the six samples. Ascomycota was dominant in all samples, with the highest reads in E. desvauxii (26,734 reads) rhizosphere. Sordariomycetes and Dothideomycetes were the dominant classes detected with the highest abundance in C. colocynthis and E. desvauxii rhizospheres. Aspergillus and Ceratobasidium were the most abundant genera in the R. stricta rhizosphere, Fusarium and Penicillium in the E. desvauxii rhizosphere and P. bufonius gut, Ceratobasidium and Myrothecium in the C. colocynthis rhizosphere, Aspergillus and Fusarium in the S.
