β-cell proliferation. These results suggest that the VDAC1-based R-Tf-D-LP4 peptide has potential as a treatment for diabetes.In this work, Au nanoparticles, supported in Al2O3 nanowires (ANW) modified with (3-aminopropyl)trimethoxysilane were synthetized, for their use as catalysts in the hydrogenation reaction of 4-(2-fluoro-4-nitrophenyl)-morpholine and 4-(4-nitrophenyl)morpholin-3-one. ANW was obtained by hydrothermal techniques and the metal was incorporated by the reduction of the precursor with NaBH4 posterior to superficial modification. The catalysts were prepared at different metal loadings and were characterized by different techniques. The characterization revealed structured materials in the form of nanowires and a successful superficial modification. All catalysts show that Au is in a reduced state and the shape of the nanoparticles is spherical, with high metal dispersion and size distributions from 3.7 to 4.6 nm. The different systems supported in modified-ANW were active and selective in the hydrogenation reaction of both substrates, finding for all catalytic systems a selectivity of almost 100% to the aromatic amine. They not only provide nutrition, but also confer health promoting effects in food, such as anti-carcinogenic, anti-microbial, and antioxidant properties. Fermentation is a viable processing technique to transform whole grains in edible foods since it is an affordable, less complicated technique, which not only transforms whole grains but also increases nutrient bioavailability and positively alters the levels of health-promoting components (particularly antioxidants) in derived whole grain products. This review addresses the impact of fermentation on phenolic compounds and antioxidant activities with most available studies indicating an increase in these health beneficial constituents. Such increases are mostly due to breakdown of the cereal cell wall and subsequent activities of enzymes that lead to the liberation of bound phenolic compounds, which increase antioxidant activities. In addition to the improvement of these valuable constituents, increasing the consumption of fermented whole grain cereals would be vital for the world's ever-growing population. Concerted efforts and adequate strategic synergy between concerned stakeholders (researchers, food industry, and government/policy makers) are still required in this regard to encourage consumption and dispel negative presumptions about whole grain foods.Obesity has become a widespread health problem worldwide. The body mass index (BMI) is a simple and reliable index based on weight and height that is commonly used to identify and classify adults as underweight, normal, overweight (pre-obesity), or obese. In this paper, we propose a hybrid deep neural network for predicting the BMI of smartphone users, based only on the characteristics of body movement captured by the smartphone's built-in motion sensors without any other sensitive data. The proposed deep learning model consists of four major modules a transformation module for data preprocessing, a convolution module for extracting spatial features, a long short-term memory (LSTM) module for exploring temporal dependency, and a fully connected module for regression. We define motion entropy (MEn), which is a measure of the regularity and complexity of the motion sensor, and propose a novel MEn-based filtering strategy to select parts of sensor data that met certain thresholds for training the model. We evaluate this model using two public datasets in comparison with baseline conventional feature-based methods using leave-one-subject-out (LOSO) cross-validation. Experimental results show that the proposed model with the MEn-based filtering strategy outperforms the baseline approaches significantly. The results also show that jogging may be a more suitable activity of daily living (ADL) for BMI prediction than walking and walking upstairs. We believe that the conclusions of this study will help to develop a long-term remote health monitoring system.The 25-Hydroxyvitamin D (25[OH)D) serum concentration depends on vitamin D intake, endogenous vitamin D production and genetic factors. The latter have been demonstrated in large genome-wide association studies indicating that single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in genes related to the vitamin D metabolism are as important for serum 25(OH)D levels as the influence of season. The mechanism on how these SNPs influence serum 25(OH)D levels are still unclear. The aim of the present study was to investigate the genetic effects of ten selected SNPs related to vitamin D metabolism on 25-hydroxyvitamin D increase (∆25(OH)D) after vitamin D supplementation in three randomized controlled trials. Genotypes of SNPs related to vitamin D metabolism were determined in 411 participants with 25(OH)D concentrations less then 75 nmol/l receiving 20,000 IU cholecalciferol per week for 8 or 12 weeks after study inclusion. For the vitamin D receptor (VDR) rs10783219 polymorphism, the minor A-allele was associated with lower ∆25(OH)D values in the entire study population (p = 0.022), which was not consistent in all three cohorts when analysed separately. VDR rs10783219 might therefore be a genetic modulator of increasing 25-hydroxyvitamin D concentrations. Considering the wide-spread use of vitamin D supplementation, future large and well-designed randomized controlled trials (RCTs) should investigate the clinical impact of this polymorphism.

Recently, Oslo grading system (OGS) for prediction of recurrence in chronic subdural hematoma (cSDH) was introduced. The aim of the study was to validate and if applicable to modify the grading system. Data of all patients admitted to the Goethe University Hospital between 2016 and 2018 with chronic subdural hematoma were prospectively entered into a database. Dataset of patients with uni- (n = 272) and bilateral cSDH (n = 177) were used for the validation of OGS via logistic regression analysis. Additional predictors were identified and integrated to build a modified OGS (mOGS). Internal validation of the modified OGS was performed using same dataset of patients. The OGS showed a significant good predictive value with correlating increase of recurrence rate depending on the level of score in unilateral cSDH (p = 0.002). Regarding bilateral cSDH, there was no significant predictive value found (p = 0.921). By performing uni- and multivariate analysis, additional predictors for recurrence in uni- and bilateral cSDH were identified and integrated into the score system. Accordingly, the mOGS for unilateral cSDH inherited 4 components previous OGS with 3 components (OR1.6) and seizure (OR2.5) (0 point, 0% recurrence rate; 1-2 points, 17.4%; 3-4 points, 30.6%; ≥ 5 points, 80%). Regarding bilateral cSDH, the mOGS consisted of 4 components as well hypodense/gradation subtypes (OR3.3), postoperative unilateral volume > 80 mL (OR7.4), postoperative unilateral air trapping > 80 mL (OR15.3), and seizure (OR5.5) (0 point, 3.6% recurrence rate; 1 point, 30.6%; 2 points, 53.5%; 3 points, 58.3%; ≥ 4 points, 100%). Furthermore, the mOGS was internally verified showing high significant predictive power for recurrent hematoma in uni- (p = 0.004) and bilateral cSDH (p less then 0.001). External validation of OGS showed accurate risk stratification of recurrence in unilateral cSDH; however, the validation failed for bilateral cSDH. Thus, mOGS was developed to strengthen its clinical utility and applicability.INTRODUCTION Due to demographic changes, total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is one of the most frequently performed orthopedic surgeries. Therapies for associated postoperative complications, such as postoperative knee stiffness (PKS), are becoming increasingly important. The aim of this retrospective matched-pair analysis was to evaluate mid-term-results following manipulation under anesthesia (MUA). MATERIALS AND METHODS Fifty-one patients with PKS were evaluated and 51 matched-pair patients without PKS after primary TKA were chosen for the control group. In addition to the range of motion, the functionality was recorded by Knee Society Score (KSS), Western Ontario and ** Masters Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC), and Short-Form-12 Questionnaire (SF-12). Experience of pain was mapped using a 10-point Numeric Rating Scale (NRS), and the analgesic requirement was mapped using the WHO step scheme. A final follow-up examination was conducted approximately three years after TKA. To evaluate potential risk facion between prosthesis malalignment and MUA could not be detected radiologically. Further studies are necessary to investigate the reasons for PKS.INTRODUCTION In patients with recurrent patellar dislocations, a tibial tubercle osteotomy (TTO) can be indicated to correct patella alta or an increased trochlear groove-tibial tubercle distance. Several surgical techniques are described. Previous studies emphasize that detaching osteotomies results in devascularisation, which can lead to non-union and tibial shaft fractures. The aim of this study was to report the complication rates directly related to the surgical technique of a V-shaped TTO, where the tubercle is completely released from its periosteum using a step-cut osteotomy. METHODS The retrospective case series comprised a large cohort of 263 knees with patella alta in 203 patients who underwent a V-shaped TTO, with or without additional realignment procedures, between March 2004 and October 2017. Data were obtained from available patient files. Complications were defined as minor or major. RESULTS Thirteen major complications were registered (4.9%) including two tibial fractures (0.75%) and one non-union (0.37%). Five complications (1.9%) were defined as minor. Removal of the screws because of irritation or pain was seen in 22 cases (8.2%). CONCLUSION A V-shaped TTO is a safe procedure. The presumed higher risk for tibial fractures or pseudo-arthrosis could not be confirmed.PURPOSE Sarcopenia was assessed as a prognostic factor for patients undergoing cardiac surgery by evaluating the quantity and quality of skeletal muscle. METHODS Sarcopenia was assessed by perioperative abdominal computed tomography using the total psoas muscle index (TPI) and intra-muscular adipose tissue content (IMAC). Patients were classified into high- (HT, n = 143) and low- (LT, n = 63) TPI groups and low- (LI, n = 122) and high- (HI, n = 84) IMAC groups. RESULTS There were significantly more complications in the LT and HI groups than in the HT and LI groups. A multivariable analysis showed that low TPI and high IMAC significantly predicted more major complications than other combinations (odds ratio [OR] 2.375; 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.152-5.783; P = 0.036, OR 3.973; 95% CI 1.737-9.088; P = 0.001). CONCLUSIONS Sarcopenia is a risk factor for complications. The quantity and quality of muscle must be assessed to predict operative outcomes. In addition, terminology used to diagnose and categorize mesh complications and the descriptions of surgical procedures to manage them have been adopted inconsistently, further hampering the development of a collective experience with a standardized lexicon. Finally, **** of the high-quality data on management of mesh complications is based on materials that are rarely used or not commercially available today.Women experiencing mesh complications need to be heard and should have access to resources and providers who are most able to help. Many women require multiple procedures to address their mesh complications, and for some of these patients, relief is incomplete. We should strive to optimize the treatment at the initial diagnosis of a mesh-related complication.

The recurrence of the reason was more common than other reasons after index rTKA for infection (18%), instability (8%), stiffness (7%), and loosening (5%).Interpretation - Poorest outcomes were found for rTKA for infection over 1 out of 4 infection rTKAs required another surgical intervention, mostly due to infection. Recurrence of other reasons for revision (instability, stiffness, and loosening) was also considerable. Our findings also emphasize the importance of a clear diagnosis before doing rTKA to avert second revision surgeries.This case report presents the first reported pediatric case of primary classical nodular sclerosing Hodgkin Lymphoma (HL) with pineal gland involvement, presenting without CNS symptoms, which completely resolved after 2 cycles of chemotherapy. The 12 year-old male first presented with a right inguinal mass and external iliac lymphadenopathy accompanied by B symptoms. He was diagnosed with stage IV B classical HL, and as part of the staging work-up, a full-body PET/CT scan was performed. In addition to the right inguinal mass, the PET/CT demonstrated increased FDG uptake at the pineal gland along with level II lymph nodes. The patient was treated with ABVE-PC chemotherapy (Doxorubicin, Bleomycin, Vincristine, Etoposide, Prednisone, and Cyclophosphamide) as per standard arm of AHOD1331 COG protocol for newly diagnosed high-risk HL patients, which resolved the pineal mass after 2 cycles without requiring radiation therapy. Following 5 cycles, a full-body PET/CT showed no brain or neck activity, along with decreased size and activity of the right groin mass. To our knowledge, there are no other documented cases of primary HL with specific pineal involvement, and no cases that lack CNS symptoms altogether like this one did. Additionally, this is the third published pediatric case of primary CNS-HL, both of the previous cases were treated with radiotherapy and presented with CNS symptoms. Thus, this case demonstrates the importance of ordering a full-body PET/CT as part of the initial HL work-up and provides evidence that chemotherapy alone is a treatment option for some patients with primary intracranial HL.This study reports the synthesis of new indol(1H-3-yl) pyrimidine derivatives 4(a-e) using various substituted indole-3-carbaldehydes, urea and malononitrile in the presence of ammonium chloride. The resulting compounds were characterized using analytical and spectroscopic methods. The molecular docking study exhibits that among the synthesized compounds, 4(c-e) have great binding ability toward B-DNA. Validation of the model hypothesis by an external dataset of actives and inactive compounds produced significant validation attributes including; AUC = 0.85, BEDROC = 0.56 at α = 20.0, RIE = 8.18, AUAC = 0.88, and EF of 6.2 at the top 2% of the dataset. The model was use for screening the ZINC database, and the top 1375 hits satisfying the model hypothesis were subjected to molecular docking studies to understand the molecular and structural basis of selectivity of compounds for MDM2 protein. A sub-set of 25 compounds with binding energy lower than the reference inhibitors were evaluated for pharmacokinetic properties. The recurrence of the reason was more common than other reasons after index rTKA for infection (18%), instability (8%), stiffness (7%), and loosening (5%).Interpretation - Poorest outcomes were found for rTKA for infection over 1 out of 4 infection rTKAs required another surgical intervention, mostly due to infection. Our findings also emphasize the importance of a clear diagnosis before doing rTKA to avert second revision surgeries.This case report presents the first reported pediatric case of primary classical nodular sclerosing Hodgkin Lymphoma (HL) with pineal gland involvement, presenting without CNS symptoms, which completely resolved after 2 cycles of chemotherapy. The 12 year-old male first presented with a right inguinal mass and external iliac lymphadenopathy accompanied by B symptoms. He was diagnosed with stage IV B classical HL, and as part of the staging work-up, a full-body PET/CT scan was performed. In addition to the right inguinal mass, the PET/CT demonstrated increased FDG uptake at the pineal gland along with level II lymph nodes. The patient was treated with ABVE-PC chemotherapy (Doxorubicin, Bleomycin, Vincristine, Etoposide, Prednisone, and Cyclophosphamide) as per standard arm of AHOD1331 COG protocol for newly diagnosed high-risk HL patients, which resolved the pineal mass after 2 cycles without requiring radiation therapy. Following 5 cycles, a full-body PET/CT showed no brain or neck activity, along with decreased size and activity of the right groin mass. To our knowledge, there are no other documented cases of primary HL with specific pineal involvement, and no cases that lack CNS symptoms altogether like this one did. Additionally, this is the third published pediatric case of primary CNS-HL, both of the previous cases were treated with radiotherapy and presented with CNS symptoms. Thus, this case demonstrates the importance of ordering a full-body PET/CT as part of the initial HL work-up and provides evidence that chemotherapy alone is a treatment option for some patients with primary intracranial HL.This study reports the synthesis of new indol(1H-3-yl) pyrimidine derivatives 4(a-e) using various substituted indole-3-carbaldehydes, urea and malononitrile in the presence of ammonium chloride. We explored the combination of intermediate stereotactic dose radiation therapy and immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy as a novel treatment strategy for GBM. METHODS Glioma xenograft-bearing **** were exposed to high dose brain-directed radiation (10 Gy single exposure) as well as mouse anti-PD-1 antibody. The tumor-bearing animals were randomized to four groups no treatment, radiation alone, anti-PD-1 alone, and radiation + anti-PD-1. Survival was followed, and tumor growth was monitored using MRI. Immunohistochemistry, gene expression arrays, and flow cytometry were used to characterize the treatment-induced effects. Pharmacologic inhibitors of T-lymphocytes, bone marrow derived macrophages, and microglia were used to assess the respective roles of different immune populations in observed treatment effects. RESULTS We found the combined treatment with high dose radiation and immunotherapy to be highly effective with a 75% complete pathologic response and dramatically improved survival outcomes. We found both CD8+ T-cells and macrophages to be necessary for the full effect of combined therapy, with T lymphocytes appearing to play a role early on and macrophages mediating a later phase of the combined treatment effect. Radiation treatment appeared to trigger macrophage repolarization, increasing M1/M2 ratio. CONCLUSIONS These findings point to a novel immunologic mechanism underlying the interaction between radiotherapy and immunotherapy. To determine the impact of the first COVID-19 surge (March through June 2020) on mental well-being and associated risk factors among intensive care unit nurses.
In September 2020, a nationwide cross-sectional survey study among Dutch intensive care nurses was carried out to measure prevalence rates of symptoms of anxiety, depression, posttraumatic stress disorder, and need for recovery (NFR), objectified by the HADS-A, HADS-D, IES-6 and NFR questionnaires, respectively. Associated risk factors were determined using multivariate logistic regression analyses.
Symptoms of anxiety, depression, and post traumatic stress disorder were reported by 27.0%, 18.6% and 22.2% of the 726 respondents, respectively. The NFR was positive, meaning not being recovered from work, in 41.7%. Working in an academic hospital, being afraid of infecting relatives and experiencing insufficient numbers of colleagues were associated with more mental symptoms, while having been on holiday was associated with reduced depression symptoms and need for recovery.

In France, the cystic fibrosis (CF) care pathway is performed in 45 CF centers, the life expectancy of patients has steadily increased, but to date there are no national recommendations for the transition from pediatric to adult care. The transition to an adult CF center still raises questions about the relevance of its organizational arrangements. The "SAFETIM need" study aimed to identify the organizational needs both of patients and of parents before the transfer to an adult CF center.
This was a prospective, observational, multicenter study conducted between July 2017 and December 2018, involving the three CF centers of a regional network in southeastern France. In this study, we report on five women with peritoneal surface malignancies who performed ovarian hyper-stimulation and oocytes cryostorage prior to undergo CRS and HIPEC. The presence of the disease complicated follicular growth monitoring but the oocytes retrievals could be always performed and were uneventful. At last follow-up, all women were alive and disease-free. None has yet returned to thaw her oocytes. Overall, these cases suggest that oocytes cryopreservation before CRS and HIPEC should be considered.Periarticular osseous defects pose a challenge when considering arthrodesis. A time alignment process is applied after acquiring data from plane wave transmissions at different angles. The time alignment uses interpolation to obtain data points at higher frame rates, and the time-aligned data are compounded to increase the SNR. To determine the impact of the first COVID-19 surge (March through June 2020) on mental well-being and associated risk factors among intensive care unit nurses. In September 2020, a nationwide cross-sectional survey study among Dutch intensive care nurses was carried out to measure prevalence rates of symptoms of anxiety, depression, posttraumatic stress disorder, and need for recovery (NFR), objectified by the HADS-A, HADS-D, IES-6 and NFR questionnaires, respectively. Associated risk factors were determined using multivariate logistic regression analyses. Symptoms of anxiety, depression, and post traumatic stress disorder were reported by 27.0%, 18.6% and 22.2% of the 726 respondents, respectively. The NFR was positive, meaning not being recovered from work, in 41.7%. Working in an academic hospital, being afraid of infecting relatives and experiencing insufficient numbers of colleagues were associated with more mental symptoms, while having been on holiday was associated with reduced depression symptoms and need for recovery. Bacteriophages, or simply phages, are the most abundant biological entities on Earth. One of the most interesting characteristics of these viruses, which infect and use bacteria as their host organisms, is their high level of specificity. Since their discovery, phages became a tool for the comprehension of basic molecular biology and originated applications in a variety of areas such as agriculture, biotechnology, food safety, veterinary, pollution remediation and wastewater treatment. In particular, phages offer a solution to one of the major problems in public health nowadays, i.e. the emergence of multidrug-resistant bacteria. In these situations, the use of virulent phages as therapeutic agents offers an alternative to the classic, antibiotic-based strategies. The development of phage therapies should be accompanied by the improvement of phage biomanufacturing processes, both at laboratory and industrial scales. In this review, we first present some historical and general aspects related with the discovery, usage and biology of phages and provide a brief overview of the most relevant phage therapy applications. In this review, we describe the research presented from CHO cells to date related on three of the most important PTMs; glycosylation, phosphorylation and ubiquitination.Aquaculture is playing an increasingly important role in meeting global demands for seafood, particularly in low and middle income countries. Genetic improvement of aquaculture species has major untapped potential to help achieve this, with selective breeding and genome editing offering exciting avenues to expedite this process. However, limitations to these breeding and editing approaches include long generation intervals of many fish species, alongside both technical and regulatory barriers to the application of genome editing in commercial production. Surrogate broodstock technology facilitates the production of donor-derived gametes in surrogate parents, and comprises transplantation of germ cells of donors into sterilised recipients. There are many successful examples of intra- and inter-species germ cell transfer and production of viable offspring in finfish, and this leads to new opportunities to address the aforementioned limitations. Firstly, surrogate broodstock technology raises the opportunity to improve genome editing via the use of cultured germ cells, to reduce mosaicism and potentially enable in vivo CRISPR screens in the progeny of surrogate parents. Secondly, the technology has pertinent applications in preservation of aquatic genetic resources, and in facilitating breeding of high-value species which are otherwise difficult to rear in captivity. Thirdly, it holds potential to drastically reduce the effective generation interval in aquaculture breeding programmes, expediting the rate of genetic gain. Finally, it provides new opportunities for dissemination of tailored, potentially genome edited, production animals of high genetic merit for farming. This review focuses on the state-of-the-art of surrogate broodstock technology, and discusses the next steps for its applications in research and production. Despite all these progresses, translating the aptitudes of R&D and pre-clinical data into effective clinical treatments is still highly challenging, partially due to the demanding regulatory and safety concerns but also because of the lack of knowledge on the regenerative mechanisms of action of these therapeutic products. Thus, the need of analytical methodologies that enable a complete characterization of such complex products and a deep understanding of their therapeutic effects, at the cell and molecular level, itent stem cell derived cardiomyocytes biology. A simple method is described for the calculation of two- and three-dimensional phase diagrams describing stability and coexistence curves or surfaces separating one- and two-phase regions in composition/temperature space of a solution containing solute species 1 and 2. The calculation requires a quantitative description of the intermolecular potentials of mean force acting between like (1-1 and 2-2) and unlike (1-2) species. Example calculations are carried out for solutions of species interacting via spherically symmetric square-well potentials as first-order models for protein-protein interaction. When the interaction between species 1 and 2 is more repulsive than those acting between like species, the two-phase region is characterized by an equilibrium between a phase enriched in 1 and depleted in 2 and a phase enriched in 2 and depleted in 1. When the interaction between species 1 and 2 is more attractive than those acting between like species, the two-phase region is characterized by an equilibrium between a phase enriched in both species and a phase depleted in both species. The latter example provides a first-order description of coacervate formation without postulating specific interactions between the two solute species.To develop hydrophilic astaxanthin with significantly enhanced solubility and stability, astaxanthin polyethylene glycol succinate (APGS) was synthesized by esterification of an astaxanthin succinate diester with polyethylene glycol 1000. However, an efficient gram-scale synthesis of F2-TCNQ has not been fully documented. Herein, we report a synthesis of F2-TCNQ via a three-step sequence that affords F2-TCNQ in 58% cumulative yield. This synthesis was used to prepare more than 1 g of F2-TCNQ.The profile of volatile compounds was investigated using headspace solid-phase microextraction coupled with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (HS-SPME-GC-MS) during bilberry juice fermentation with nine non-Saccharomyces yeasts, including Pachysolen tannophilus, Metschnikowia pulcherrima, Hanseniaspora uvarum, Torulaspora delbrueckii, Zygosaccharomyces bailii, Schizosaccharomyces pombe, Lachancea thermotolerans, Issatchenkia orientalis, and Saccharomycodes ludwigii. Dynamic changes in volatile compounds were determined simultaneously with the development of ethanol concentration during fermentation. H. uvarum or I. orientalis produced more ethyl acetate than other yeast strains throughout fermentation, while fermentation with M. pulcherrima resulted in high accumulation of higher alcohols. S. pombe was associated with high productions of pentane-2,3-dione, 3-hydroxybutan-2-one, 2-methylbutanal, and 3-methylbutanal. Among the 59 volatile compounds detected, generally, higher alcohols and monoterpenes accumulated constantly and reached the maximum concentration at the middle or later fermentation stage, whereas aldehydes, ketones, and acetals accumulated first followed by a significant drop. The production and accumulation dynamics of metabolites were highly dependent on the yeast species and the developing ethanol content.The rotational spectra of 2-fluoroanisole and 3-fluoroanisole were investigated using Fourier transform microwave spectroscopy in the 4-26 GHz range. The mass dependence (rm(1)) structures derived using the experimentally determined rotational constants compare favorably with the ab initio estimates. The resulting sets of geometric parameters suggest that the aromatic ring backbone is distorted by the introduction of the angular methoxy substituent, with a tendency to induce bond length alternation around the ring, and by the electron withdrawing effects of fluorine.

H. uvarum or I. orientalis produced more ethyl acetate than other yeast strains throughout fermentation, while fermentation with M. pulcherrima resulted in high accumulation of higher alcohols. S. pombe was associated with high productions of pentane-2,3-dione, 3-hydroxybutan-2-one, 2-methylbutanal, and 3-methylbutanal. Among the 59 volatile compounds detected, generally, higher alcohols and monoterpenes accumulated constantly and reached the maximum concentration at the middle or later fermentation stage, whereas aldehydes, ketones, and acetals accumulated first followed by a significant drop. Stress is an important risk factor for depression. Emerging evidence supports the hypothesis that stress-mediated neuroinflammation destroys brain function and leads to anxiety-like and depression-like behaviors. Previous studies of stress-induced depression have mainly focused on pathological damage; however, the rise of positive psychology has attracted the interest of many researchers in environmental enrichment to promote stress resilience. The hippocampus is one of the most severely damaged brain regions in stress-induced depression. In addition, the hippocampus is one of the most unique regions in the brain, as new neurons are produced in the adult hippocampus, a process known as adult hippocampal neurogenesis (AHN). AHN is an important core component of the neurogenic hypothesis and has also become a major innovative breakthrough in positive psychology, in which environmental enrichment mediates stress resilience. Neuroinflammation, by activating microglia and releasing some proinflammatory cytokines, is increasingly shown to be one of the key determinant pathophysiological factors that negatively affects AHNand cognitive reserve. AHN is mainly related to remodeling stress response mechanisms, such as memory clearing, emotional control, and pattern separation, suggesting that a correlation may exist between neuroinflammation and AHN in stress resilience. Therefore, we summarized the previous research results to systematically expound on the relationship between AHN, stress resilience, and neuroinflammation. We hope this neurogenic hypothesis of positive psychology in stress-induced depression will provide a new perspective for the study of depression and antidepressant therapy.Juglone, mainly isolates from the green walnut husks of Juglans mandshurica, exhibits anti-cancer and anti-inflammaroty activities. But its protection on ulcerative colitis (UC) has never been explored. Eighteen players (age=48.9(10.0)years), assigned to the unilateral Achilles tendon rupture group and 177 non-injured players (age=55.4(9.4)years), assigned to the control group. A Logiq®S8 ultrasound was used to study tendon structure and elastography index values and a Myoton®PRO hand-held myotonometer was used to record the stiffness of the Achilles tendon.

We find that a majority of individuals adopt the mobile account and the intervention led to reductions in transactional sex as a shock-coping response, and a decrease in symptoms of sexually transmitted infections. Changes are sustained in the medium-term among sex workers, but not among other vulnerable women.We estimate the impact of French town hall elections held in mid-March 2020 on the mortality of 163,000 male candidates aged above 60. Their excess mortality during March and April was similar to the general population. We compare candidates in cities with two candidate lists to those in cities with only one list, as elections are more intense in contacts in the former group. We also use a regression discontinuity design and investigate mortality in 2020 depending on how candidates fared in the 2014 election. We cannot detect any causal effect of active participation in the 2020 elections on mortality.In cases where a deceased child exhibits trauma as a result of a physical abuse blunt impact load, a parent/caregiver may provide a simple short fall (SSF) as the justification for that trauma. The skeletal fractures remain difficult to differentiate between a SSF and physical abuse however, as both are the result of a blunt impact load, and are therefore biomechanically alike, and the rare nature of these fatalities means only anecdotal research has been available to validate such claims. The aim of this pilot study was to investigate if there may be differences in the skeletal fracture patterns and types resulting from SSFs compared with those resulting from physical abuse blunt impacts. Paediatric ( less then 10 years) cases of fatal SSFs (≤1.5 m) and physical abuse were collected from the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine (Australia), Institut Médico-Légal de Paris (France), University of Pretoria (South Africa) and Great Ormond Street Hospital (England). For each case the intrinsic and extrinsic variables were recorded from medico-legal reports and skeletal trauma was documented using post-mortem computed tomography scans and/or skeletal surveys.

Paediatric ( less then 10 years) cases of fatal SSFs (≤1.5 m) and physical abuse were collected from the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine (Australia), Institut Médico-Légal de Paris (France), University of Pretoria (South Africa) and Great Ormond Street Hospital (England).
