Islet-specific autoantibodies (ISAs) have been used as diagnostic markers for different phenotypic classifications of diabetes. This study was aimed to explore the relationships between ISA titers and the clinical characteristics of diabetic patients.

    A total of 509 diabetic patients admitted to Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism at the Affiliated Hospital of Nantong University were recruited. Anthropometric parameters, serum biochemical index, glycosylated hemoglobin, urinary microalbumin/creatinine ratio, ISAs, fat mass, and islet β-cell function were measured. One-hundred and twenty-three participants performed an affordances task and two blocks of a Stroop task, each requiring a different level of task control (high vs. low). In a hierarchical regression model, we found a significant and specific correlation between affordances congruent and Stroop congruent conditions only in the high-control block, designed to greatly engage participants' task control, thus linking the task control mechanism in both tasks. These results indicate that task control underlies diverse modalities of response (visuomotor and linguistic), independently of other conflict types.     A systematic literature search was carried out from January 2011 until January 2020. MOOSE guidelines were followed. Predefined outcomes were morbidity, pancreatic fistula, postoperative bleeding and delayed gastric emptying, reoperation rate, mortality, hospital stay, R0 resection rate, and lymph node positivity. Duration of surgery, blood loss, and survival were also analyzed.

    Eight hundred and forty-one AR patients were identified in a cohort of 7111 patients. Morbidity and mortality rates in these patients were 66.8% and 5.3%, respectively. Seven studies (579 AR patients) were included in the meta-analysis. Overall morbidity (48% vs 39%, p = 0.1) and mortality (3.2% vs 1.5%, p = 0.27) were not significantly different in the groups with or without AR. R0 was less frequent in the AR group, both in patients without (69% vs 89%, p < 0.001) and with neoadjuvant treatment (50% vs 86%, p < 0.001). Weighted median survival was shorter in the AR group (18.6 vs 32months, range 14.8-43.1months, p = 0.037).

  • Ammonia can be produced by the respiration and excretion of fish during the farming process, which can affect the life of fish. In this paper, to research the behavior of fish under different ammonia concentration and make the corresponding judgment and early warning for the abnormal behavior of fish, the different ammonia environments are simulated by adding the ammonium chloride into the water. Different from the existing methods of directly artificial observation or artificial marking, this paper proposed a recognition and analysis of behavior trajectory approach based on deep learning. Firstly, the three-dimensional spatial trajectories of fish are drawn by three-dimensional reconstruction. Then, the influence of different concentrations of ammonia on fish is analyzed according to the behavior trajectory of fish in different concentrations of ammonia. The results of comparative experiments show that the movement of fish and vitality decrease significantly, and the fish often stagnates in the water of containing ammonium chloride. The proposed approach can provide a new idea for the behavior analysis of animal.The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of wheat bread enrichment using hazelnuts and walnuts (1%, 3%, 6%, 9%) on the nutritional value and selected physicochemical and antioxidant properties. The dough and bread yield, volume, specific volume and porosity were also determined. The crumb texture was analyzed by texture profile analysis (TPA) test using a texture meter. The color of the crumb was assessed in the CIE L*a*b* color space. Antioxidant properties were determined by the ABTS+ radical method. The contents of phenolic acids, flavonoids and total polyphenols were also determined. The test demonstrated that the enrichment of bread with nuts increased the level of minerals, protein, fiber and fat. Breads containing walnuts were characterized by the highest content of these nutrients. The bread with a 9% walnut content by the smallest volume (380 cm3) had lowest value of L*. The crumb of the enriched breads was characterized by greater hardness, gumminess and chewiness, the values of these parameters generally increasing in parallel to the nut content.     Ammonia can be produced by the respiration and excretion of fish during the farming process, which can affect the life of fish. In this paper, to research the behavior of fish under different ammonia concentration and make the corresponding judgment and early warning for the abnormal behavior of fish, the different ammonia environments are simulated by adding the ammonium chloride into the water. Different from the existing methods of directly artificial observation or artificial marking, this paper proposed a recognition and analysis of behavior trajectory approach based on deep learning. Firstly, the three-dimensional spatial trajectories of fish are drawn by three-dimensional reconstruction. Then, the influence of different concentrations of ammonia on fish is analyzed according to the behavior trajectory of fish in different concentrations of ammonia. The results of comparative experiments show that the movement of fish and vitality decrease significantly, and the fish often stagnates in the water of containing ammonium chloride. The proposed approach can provide a new idea for the behavior analysis of animal.The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of wheat bread enrichment using hazelnuts and walnuts (1%, 3%, 6%, 9%) on the nutritional value and selected physicochemical and antioxidant properties. The dough and bread yield, volume, specific volume and porosity were also determined. The crumb texture was analyzed by texture profile analysis (TPA) test using a texture meter. The color of the crumb was assessed in the CIE L*a*b* color space. Antioxidant properties were determined by the ABTS+ radical method.   • We propose a simple direct-sum method for the efficient evaluation of lattice sums in periodic solids. It consists of two main principles (i) the creation of a supercell that has the topology of a Clifford torus, which is a flat, finite, and borderless manifold; (ii) the renormalization of the distance between two points on the Clifford torus by defining it as the Euclidean distance in the embedding space of the Clifford torus. Our approach does not require any integral transformations nor any renormalization of the charges. We illustrate our approach by applying it to the calculation of the Madelung constants of ionic crystals. We show that the convergence toward the system of infinite size is monotonic, which allows for a straightforward extrapolation of the Madelung constant. We are able to recover the Madelung constants with a remarkable accuracy, and at an almost negligible computational cost, i.e., a few seconds on a laptop computer.The novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) spike protein is a smart molecular machine that instigates the entry of coronavirus to the host cell causing the COVID-19 pandemic. These simulations identified two distinct PCET pathways the triads exhibiting inverted region behavior transitioned from the LES to the CSS, whereas the other triads transitioned to a local electron-proton transfer (LEPT) state within phenol and pyridine. The simulations suggest that PCET to the LEPT state is slower than PCET to the CSS and provides an alternative relaxation pathway. The mechanistic pathways, as well as the time scales of the electron and proton transfers, can be controlled by tuning the substituents.The discharge process of a nonaqueous Li-O2 battery at the cathode is the direct oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) with the formation of discharge product, e.g., Li2O2, deposits on the cathode surface. In addition, the strong intermolecular attraction between Cp2Co and the newly formed Li2O2 promotes the solution phase growth of Li2O2, which effectively suppresses electrode passivation.

    In the present study the relationship between illness coping and health-related quality of life (HRQOL) in patients after closed head injury (CHI) was analyzed. Furthermore, the study was performed to assess the relative significance of clinical, neuroradiological, psychosocial variables and coping activities after CHI. We hypothesized that the effect of a depressive coping style is significantly stronger than that of all other variables considered.

    This cross-sectional study took place at the outpatient clinic of the Department of Neurosurgery of the University of Technology (RWTH) Aachen, Germany. Of a total of 98 patients 1-2 years after CHI living in the catchment area of the university hospital fulfilling the inclusion criteria 63 individuals (mean age 40.6 years; 46 males) with a mean of 17.6 months after CHI took part in the study.     A subset of 2,297 patients with VHD across six Ontario academic hospitals was selected from the Echo WISELY (Will Inappropriate Scenarios for Echocardiography Lessen Significantly) trial and linked to administrative databases. Each patient's index TTE was classified as "rarely appropriate" (rA) versus "appropriate" (comprising "appropriate" and "may be appropriate" TTE according to the 2011 appropriate use criteria). Overall, 431 of 452 patients with rA TTE were matched 11 with patients with appropriate TTE using propensity scores to account for measured confounding.

    Matched patients with rA TTE were less likely to undergo repeat TTE (relative risk, 0.46; 95% CI, 0.33-0.66) or cardiac catheterization (relative risk, 0.27; 95% CI, 0.16-0.47) at 90days compared with patients with appropriate TTE. rA TTE was significantly associated with a decreased hazard of aortic valve intervention (hazard ratio, 0.40; 95% CI, 0.14-0.42), all-cause hospitalization (hazard ratio, 0.44; 95% CI, 0.34-0.57), and death (hazard ratio, 0.31; 95% CI, 0.15-0.66) over 365days of follow-up.

  • The purpose of this research was to explore the cognitive and personality characteristics of male adolescent gamblers. Participants were 273 teenage males (M = 18.04, SD = 2.10) attending betting centers in Sicily, who completed self-report questionnaires on gambling, creativity, perceived social self-efficacy, hypercompetitiveness, and coping strategies. Pathological gamblers reported higher levels of avoidant coping strategies than occasional gamblers. They also scored higher on hypercompetitiveness than both occasional and problem gamblers. Further, problem gamblers scored higher than occasional gamblers on the complexity domain of creative personality.     The purpose of the present study is twofold (1) to investigate the differences in terms of physical and mental health between those who provide grandparental care and those who do not and (2) to explore the mechanism that connects grandparental caregiving and health-related outcomes.

    Two studies (a cross-sectional and a short-term longitudinal follow-up) were conducted. The cross-sectional study (Study 1) examined 148 older adults who provided grandparental care and another 150 older adults who did not. A small longitudinal follow-up study (Study 2) was conducted among 102 older adults randomly selected from Study 1, of which 52 were older adults who provided grandparental care, and another 50 older adults were those who did not. Health status (measured by SF-36), lonely dissatisfaction (measured by Lonely Dissatisfaction Subscale of PGC-MS), and cognitive functions (measured by subscales of WAIS) as well as demographics were measured in both studies.

    Results of both the cross-sectional and longitudinal studies showed that, compared with older adults who did not provide grandparental care, those providing grandparental care had significantly better physical and mental health as well as reduced lonely dissatisfaction. Further path analysis showed that lonely dissatisfaction mediated the association between providing grandparental care and enhancement in functions such that providing grandparental care could reduce lonely dissatisfaction, which, in turn, could improve their physical and mental health even after controlling for their cognitive functions.

To this end, we analyze data from a unique dataset on recent graduates from Dutch professional colleges (N = 67,000). Two different indicators of skill change are investigated, namely changes in the skill level required in the labor market and changes in the wage returns to these skills. The results indicate that socioemotional skills related to knowledge and innovation such as logical reasoning and information gathering, as well as skills related to working to plan and collaboration, have undergone a significant increase in terms of labor market requirements. We also observe an increase in the required level of the work-related skills digital literacy and occupation-specific knowledge. However, significant increases in wage returns are only observed for socioemotional skills related to knowledge and innovation. The labor market importance of socioemotional skills appears to be only modestly affected by business cycle effects.Understanding the physical demands of futsal requires a precise quantification of the players' activities during match play. In this theoretical review, we aim to show how Carl Rogers' organismic valuing process (OVP) theory can serve as a holistic framework for individual positive psychological research findings and theories and how positive psychology, in turn, provides empirical support for this meta-theoretical framework. An important motivation for considering personal growth as a process that integrates various aspects of well-being is theoretical integration, which can help us better understand how well-being develops in individuals across the lifespan. Some theoretical and practical implications of incorporating OVP theory into well-being research are also suggested.This paper is a practical guide to neurophenomenology. Varela's neurophenomenological research program (NRP) aspires to bridge the gap between, and integrate, first-person (1P) and third-person (3P) approaches to understanding the mind. It does so by suggesting a methodological framework allowing these two irreducible phenomenal domains to relate and reciprocally support the investigation of one another. While highly appealing theoretically, neurophenomenology invites researchers to a challenging methodological endeavor. Based on our experience with empirical neurophenomenological implementation, we offer practical clarifications and insights learnt along the way. In the first part of the paper, we outline the theoretical principles of the NRP and briefly present the field of 1P research. We speak to the importance of phenomenological training and outline the utility of cooperating with meditators as skilled participants. We suggest that 1P accounts of subjective experience can be placed on a complexity continuum ranging between thick and thin phenomenology, highlighting the tension and trade-off inherent to the neurophenomenological attempt to naturalize phenomenology.

However, previous studies examine R&D activities as a whole, and thus do not provide detailed information, such as the carbon intensity reduction of individual actors or stages. In addition, factors that affect regional capacity for absorbing technology (absorptive capacity) are important to influence the role of R&D in carbon intensity, but they have largely been ignored in the literature. In this study, we investigate the impacts of domestic R&D on carbon intensity by classifying R&D into three stages and three actors. The results derived from a Chinese provincial panel dataset from 2000 to 2016 indicate that domestic R&D is effective for improving carbon intensity. R&D at different stages and involving different actors have statistically different impacts on carbon intensity. Further analysis using the panel threshold model provides new evidence that the nexus between carbon intensity and domestic R&D is nonlinear. Technology absorptive capacity, which is denoted by the full-time equivalent of R&D personnel, can alleviate the negative role of R&D in increasing carbon intensity and strengthen the positive effect of R&D on decreasing carbon intensity. Together with 15 already published QASs we have studied the antimicrobial efficacy of all water-soluble compounds together with standard benzalkonium salts against Gram-positive (G+) and Gram-negative (G-) bacteria, anaerobic spore-forming Cl. difficile, yeasts, filamentous fungi and enveloped Varicella zoster virus (VZV). To address the mechanism of action, lipophilicity seems to be a key parameter which determines antimicrobial efficacy, however, exceptions are likely to occur and therefore QSAR analysis on the efficacy against G+ and G- bacteria was applied.     An epidemic model based on probabilistic cellular automaton is introduced. By using a genetic algorithm, the values of three parameters of this model are determined from data of prevalence of varicella in Belgium and Italy, in a pre-vaccination period.

Belgium data can be explained by ignoring the role of immune individuals in the infection propagation; however, Italy data can be explained by considering contagion exclusively mediated by immune individuals.

Univariate analyses were performed using Chi-square tests for dichotomous variables and t-tests for continuous variables. Cox proportional hazard models were conducted to investigate the medical utility of asthma after TCM use.

    Compared with non-TCM patients, TCM patients had a significantly decreased medical utility of asthma admission (adjusted OR = 0.63; 95% CI 0.46-0.85; P < 0.05), especially in patients who used TCM for more than 60 days. In this review, we present an overview of the crucial perinatal factors and summarise updated knowledge of early-life microbiota, as well as how the perinatal factors shape gut microbiota in short and long terms. We further discuss the clinical consequences of perturbations of early-life gut microbiota and potential therapeutic interventions with probiotics/live biotherapeutics.

In this prospective study, not severely ill (NSI) patients were treated with empiric antibiotics at the daycare center (outpatient) and were admitted subsequently if there was persistent fever or any complication arose. Severely ill (SI) children were admitted to the hospital upfront. A total of 118 FN episodes among children with cancer on chemotherapy 18 years of age and younger were studied. Among NSI patients managed as outpatients (n=103), 89 patients (86%) recovered with outpatient treatment, and 14 patients required hospitalization after the median duration of 5 days (interquartile range 4 to 6 d) of antibiotic therapy. The main indication for hospital admission in the SI group was hypotension (n=5), and in the NSI group, it was persistent fever (n=11). Overall, 5% of patients (6/118) died, and 2 of these were in the NSI group. The results of this study suggest that carefully selected NSI patients could be successfully treated at outpatient management in resource-poor settings and subsequent admission if warranted.

    Adult NAFLD/NASH patients were identified retrospectively from MarketScan Commercial claims (2006-2016). Following initial NAFLD/NASH diagnosis, advanced liver diseases were identified using the first diagnosis as their index date. Mean annual all-cause HRU and costs (2016 USD) were reported. Adjusted costs were estimated through generalized linear models. Cumulative costs were illustrated for patient subsets with variable follow-up for each stage.

    Within the database, 485,774 NAFLD/NASH patients met eligibility criteria. Of these, 93.4% (453,564) were NAFLD/NASH patients without advanced liver diseases, 1.6% (7665) with CC, 3.3% (15,833) with DCC, 0.1% (696) with LT, and 0.1% (428) with HCC. Comorbidity burden was high and increased as patients progressed through liver disease severity stages. Compared with NAFLD/NASH without advanced liver diseases (adjusted costs $23,860), the annual cost of CC, DCC, LT, and HCC were 1.22, 5.64, 8.27, and 4.09 times higher [adjusted costs $29,078, $134,448, $197,392, and $97,563 (P<0.0001)]. Compared with NAFLD/NASH without advanced liver diseases (adjusted costs $23,860), the annual cost of CC, DCC, LT, and HCC were 1.22, 5.64, 8.27, and 4.09 times higher [adjusted costs $29,078, $134,448, $197,392, and $97,563 (P<0.0001)]. Inpatient admissions significantly drove increasing HRU. Study findings suggest the need for early identification and effective management of NAFLD/NASH patients to minimize comorbidity burden, HRU, and costs in the privately insured US population.
